Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hello, Welcome in side hour two of the Jason Smith

Tirack dot Com Studios Direct dot com. I'll help you
get there, an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road
has a protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers tirack
dot com the way tire buying should be Well. Yes,

(00:48):
this hour, Mike and I give you our Super Bowl
picks for this season. Oh, it's exciting right here.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
It's happy NFL Eve celebration all around. Hope springs it
except for all those teams that we've already ripped off
of the giant board, saying you have no chance in
hell of winning anything of substance. Yeah, now you're already
playing for pride. And we haven't even kicked off.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
That the Jets are gonna smash the belt. Okay, but
we'll just keep using the word smash because I love you.
You have a earlier smash burger. Oh god, no, but
you well, you want to talk about smashed.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Okay, this is yeah, that's me Sunday afternoon watching the
Bears Packers.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Let's get it off. That's Harmon six thirty every night
before it comes on the air. Oh say something to
you right here. Uh, this is not gonna make a
lot of people happy. But when sports things happen, we
kind of we can't just make stuff up.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
I know, this is only three games in the early
part of September, and hey, you know both teams are
likely headed to the playoffs, and it's been you know,
a pretty good run. But sometimes three games in a
baseball sea and are much more than that. Look, when
did the Mets season end? When the Mets lost those

(02:05):
three games to the Braves where they had a three
run lead in each game and the Braves came from
behind to win all three of those games, that was
the official end of the season for the Mets, right,
those three guys. Sometimes there's things you just can't come
back from Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I mean the way they absolutely obliterated the Mets in
that series with the Bats. It was kind of like
the end of Joe pesci uh in Casino.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Oh, They're gonna say, god, thinking okay, no, no, oh
yeah yeah Casino. Yeah, I'm in a field, what do
you I sitting the fild and I'm taking taking take
a break, trying to get along one. But sometimes three
games and a series means a lot more than it does.
That was the Brave saying, boy, we really took care
of the Mets right there. Three three run leads, sure

(02:52):
Zer Verlin didn't matter, and the Braves won all three
of those, and the Mets season just fell off a cliff.
The Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers just finished moments ago.
Mercifully for the Rangers, they just finished a three game series,
a three game series which saw the Houston Astros ascend

(03:13):
to first place in the American League West, knocking Texas,
who had been in first place forever this year clear out.
They are now three games back of the Astros. Look,
we told you the other night, we talked about the Astros.
If they're not in the World Series, something's wrong. They
are peaking at the right time. And you want to
talk about the last three nights. They have just beaten

(03:36):
the Texas Rangers three straight nights in a row, thirteen
to six, fourteen to one, and twelve to three. Yeah,
they outscored the Rangers thirty nine to ten in this series.
Max Scherzer getting thumped today, this was how did that
make you feel? Woo? I know, I felt, I felt okay,

(03:58):
I felt okay, I felt okay about it, and I
was like, okay, great because if I gotta watch Verlander
and sure, hey they're both pitching greats. It's gone. He's
been great. Is going back to us, he's been great,
just going to Texas? Yeah, yeah, great, great, great. Uh,
this has been some kind of ass whooping that the
Rangers have gotten in the last three nights. And you
are talking about the Astros apps not just winning a series,

(04:19):
not just saying hey we won this. Look, Verlander wins tonight,
the big, the big matchup with Corrus Scherzer. But this
is something different. This is Okay, You've had you had
a nice fun run this year, first part of the year.
Now good luck making the playoffs because now the Rangers
are a half game out of the playoffs, and good luck,
because if you miss the playoffs this year, all the
money you spent, no deGrom, no deGrom next year. Good luck.

(04:41):
This is one of those soul snatching series and and
one of those Astros planning their flag saying, okay, braise,
you took three out of four form the Dodgers. You
think you guys are great, Watch what we do over
here now. The Astros are peak. I'm telling you, if
it's not Astros Bras in the World Series, something's wrong.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Well.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
And as we've watched with the Astros, they were hanging
around with a lot of their key participants in the
batting order on the il. Okay, there's that. There's that too,
because suddenly the home runs are flying out in grand fashion.
So everybody's doing a little bit of handwringing. Don't don't

(05:18):
doubt it at all over in the MLB offices, right
as soon as it looks like they're taking batting practice
in game, Yeah, I think you'd be a little scared
if you're Major League Baseball. But I'll bray you with
a couple of long runs tonight. Al Alvarez is homeward
and back to bad games. You got Verlander or Keatie.

(05:38):
We talked about it a little bit yesterday, you know,
starting to find his way back into you know, bigger performances.
And you're only three weeks away from the playoffs, right,
it's all starting to get that old momentum because this
allows me to transition back to the NFL and the
old Dante Culpeper when they'd start moving the ball down

(05:58):
the field, they do that little role old thing with
his hands and he'd do a little dance and everybody
would get fired up, and then they'd put up a
bunch of points. Well, right now, that's kind of it. Right,
we're putting up two touchdowns a night. If you're in
the planet Houston, it's more than their football team's gonna score.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
I can tell you that, wo man, I'll tell you.
I mean, this is this last three nights. This is
this is some kind of askicking that that that the
Rangers got. I mean, look last night you had al
two v homering in the first three innings of the
game over in four straighted bats. I mean, this was
who cares keep it moving? This guy's doing it. Hey,
sorry Frostburg And talking about the astros did. Did you

(06:36):
get to see any of that Braves Dodger series this
past weekend? No, I didn't miss the thing. I left
Florida right before they got in town. Oh very good. Okay, no, no, no,
they canceled their game. Heard Kershall give up some walks.
Uh yeah, well they started the game at seven to
twelve pm and he was really off. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
It really threw everything off from there, and his velocity
was then down because they slowed the pace. It was
like they were playing with time.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
You see. If you guys know any pictures out there,
let me know. Uh yeah, hey, no problem. You look,
we need a couple. I can uh, I can get
it going. I think I can get it right now.
Let's see.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
I think Lucas Giolito is probably gonna get released again.
You might be able to couldn't even get it up,
hang on them?

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Excuuse me? Wow? Oh well, look look everybody the Guardian's
got I'm gonna just gonna blow past it. I'm gonna
do it now. I'm gonna go right. Just just keep going,
don't look, don't look, just keep going. Just don't look back,
don't look back. Just something, don't look back, don't look back.
Just keep going, just keep going, keep just keep going,
keep going. Have we moved on? We moved past, We've

Mike and I are gonna give you our super Bowl picks,
our official super Bowl picks for this season. I'll tell
you about I am a lunatic with this one. Ludatic
with this one.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
I mean looking forward thought last hour he was really
going on on a limbs like I'll see you and
I'll raise you one.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
But I do want to say this, not that this
is a clue for the super Bowl at all, but
we did we did watch the end of Hard Knocks. Okay,
we saw we saw the end of it. You know,
the episodes ran last night was kind of a filler
episode because there was no game to have to break down.
It was who did the Jets keep? The Jets didn't

(08:37):
allow Hard Knocks to film any players getting cut, so
it became like a filler, a filler material, Yeah, but
it was It was kind of fun because you got
to see things a little bit different. You saw the
breakup of training camp and they Jets went to see
Broadway shows together and they are now together Shark heuterie.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Which they butchered the pronunciation, but I want to get
some of that.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Yeah, it took me a lot long time to understand
what CHARCOTERI was like, I don't think. I think maybe
I was forty. I figured out what.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
You're that's it right, So like they were laughing at
I forget who it was that was mispronouncing it, but
he was trying to describe it and they're all laughing.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
I'm like, it's it's a word that doesn't really enter
coterie and enter your world too early, and it doesn't
sound like something that what it is. No, it's a
big border meat. Yes, oh, giant bard.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Of mean geez, wait, don't you just say giant bard
of meat and geez.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
They kind of like CHARCOOTERI okay, but was it the
best hard Knocks? No? Was it a good hard Knocks? Yeah?
Obviously Aaron Rodgers was the story. Right, you got you
got a little bit of flavor some other players, but
nobody else cared because every episode was just so focused
on Aaron Rodgers. Yes, we talked about before the show

(09:51):
even ran. Okay, to tell you being ahead of the curve,
before the show even ran, we told you this is
something Aaron Rodgers wants. He's gonna love it. He's gonna
get a chance to put himself out there and set
up him his image, what he wants to do after football.
Let everybody know this is the kind of person I am.
Well and that.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Everything that was going on in Green Bay was not
like was you know, mischaracterized. You didn't understand me, and
until he got into the UFO stuff, you didn't have
any of me the last two years. It was like
he took the men in black flashy thing to you
and said, Hey, look how great I am. I love
my teammates, I'm working my ass off every day. I

(10:30):
love young players.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
I love young players. Look, we told it before. Everybody's
talking about it as it unfolds. We told you before
it went on, this was gonna be the Aaron Rodgers
Redemption Tour. Look, this is what I'm doing. This is
how happy I am to be with New York, how
happy I am to be out of Green Bay. This
is how happy I am to be doing all of this.
That's all that was going to happen, and you got it.

(10:54):
And let's be honest. Aaron Rodgers is the biggest star
in the NFL. Is the big He is the biggest
star in the NFL right now this moment. Who is
Patrick Mahomes as the biggest player? I didn't say best player.
Who's the biggest star? Tom Brady's out of the Game's
Tom Unless Tom Brady's coming back with that that Peyton

(11:15):
Manning Manning cast commercial today.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
I can't wait to see him on Sunday when he's
at Foxborough.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Aaron Rodgers is the biggest star in the game. Is
he the best player? No, He's still a great quarterback,
but he's the biggest star. There is nobody in the
game who moves the needle like Aaron Rodgers. Rogers the
last two years, with what went on the Pushbowl with
Green Bay, we couldn't stay away from it. Now. He's
a Jet. It's the only story the last six months.

(11:42):
He's the biggest star in the game. Yes, he's thirty nine,
who knows how much longer he has. There's other great players.
You can keep trying to make Dak Prescott happen, which
everybody's oh but Dak, but yeah, yeah, I get it.
There's no bigger star in the game than Aaron Rodgers.
He is the NFL. He's he's he's the he's the
college footballs. He's a Deon Sanders college football in the NFL.

(12:02):
No matter what happens this year, Rogers is the story.
If the Jets are great, oh my god. If the
Jets suck, oh my god. If the Jets are mediocre, it's,
oh my god, no matter what happens, No, but he
is it. He's the biggest star in the NFL. I
just can't have.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Them near five hundred, which is what I think is
gonna happen. We won't be because we're not to start
the season. It's gonna be the cannibalization of the AFC East, and.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
So everybody cannibalizes that. It's like your favorite word, which
I worry that about you that use the word cannibal
way too often. You think everybody cannibalizes everything. I don't think.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
I don't think there's any team in that division that's
boat racing anyone.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Jets Are?

Speaker 3 (12:41):
You want the Jets to be the greatest thing since
sliced bread. They build a lot of big hotels in Vegas.
The over under has been said at nine.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
And a half.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Okay, it's nine and a half. It's not thirteen, it's
not fourteen and a half.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
My fault. They're gonna lose money. They're gonna lose case.
Everybody bets on the Jets Are. We're gonna go drive
in into and go play some wagers. Yeah, what makes
you think I haven't overall? Right, doll? I can? I can.
I can bet on my computer whenever I want to
go ahead, And you know much money I've made betting
against the Chicago White Side, not in a work computer.
Come on, man, even on your own I got all

(13:17):
the way through. You're still in California the last time. Look,
here's all the money I made betting against the White
Sox this year. Here you go right, look at that.
It's all this money. Hang on, hang on right here,
I'll show you all.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Are you gonna show me that house that the guy
that won the two billion dollars? Yeah, no, here is
a spot million dollar house.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Here, here's here's here's my winnings right here there you go.
Look at that. Look at all that money, that money up. Wow,
stacks of bills. Jason. If only you parlayed the Mets
losses with that? What made you think I didn't do that?
Because your money would be double? Maybe maybe it is
money would be done. Maybe get ready to buy Fox
Sports Radio. They're ready to buy and so see and

(13:53):
it's gonna be Jet Sports Radio. Jets Jason, that's when
I quit. Aaron Rodgers biggest starred football. Deal with it.
Deal with it? He is, He's not even close. I
gonna get hurt. I can't believe. Oh, you know what,
I'm going from keying your car to taking it and
driving it into a lake.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
He just went off the top, just letting it go,
just just just just pushing it, pushing it into a
lake and going go get it, Frostburg.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
If that happens, go get your car. I'm gonna bottom. No,
I'll have somebody do it, but my dad will help me. No,
what are we doing this? Is Frostburg's car. Yeah, right,
so let's push Let's push it. Let's watch that. I
like that. Let's just be a car will rest the
bottom of the lake, and I'll spray paint the charger's
logo wanted as I'm pushing it into the bottom of
the lake for insurance purpose. Is I'm glad I didn't

(14:44):
say which lake. I mean, I didn't say which lake.
You have to find a lot of There's a lot
of lakes over here at the bottom of a dark
You just have to wait till Scottishly, we just have
to wait till long, until there's another drought, and then suddenly, okay, oh,
there it is. There's Frostburg's car. It's not the charge
of logo Waned even said it, I said jets rule.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific TJ.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Clearly, we're about to step into the limelight making our
Super Bowl picks. You go for this season, DJ, You
know I was never all my friends just loved Rush,
loved loved, loved, loved, loved Rush. And there's some stuff
I like for Rush, but I was never the guys,
come on, man, really, I don't know. I'll tell you

(15:32):
the two bands that my friends all love up and
down that I just find it hard going Oh okay, okay.
I mean some of the stuff I like, Rush and
you two like they were the two bands, and I'm like, yeah, yeah,
some of the songs gonna be like okay, everything is
not genius. And oh and the intricacies which they were
talking the Edge playing guitar the way, I'm like, the

(15:53):
Edge is a pretty good guitar. I just I don't know.
I don't know if I just didn't get it or
I just I just because it's like all my friends,
I'm like, and they all listen. It's not like all
my friends Beryl listen to music. We all listen to
music all over the place. And they just all of
them and just loved Rush and loved you too, and
I'm like, yeah, yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
I had a really good time the final tour. I
went and saw Rush, so that was pretty excited. I
was with a guy who was a super fan that
I worked with at Yahoo and then at Fox Sports
dot Com, so like for him, it's like the Holy Trinity.
Truly was Rush, but like I've always been that way.
I mean, obviously a lot of people in our business

(16:34):
and sports writers, Bruce Springsteen's everything right in the Eastern Band,
and then for me, and I think part of it
was just I couldn't avoid it no matter where I turned.
In college, Nirvana and Pearl Jam, Like there's some Pearl
Jam stuff I love, yeah, but I couldn't get away
from it no matter where I turned. So I was like,
you know, there becomes that overexposure. It's like people saying,

(16:55):
you gotta see this movie. You gotta see this movie,
and then I go to see it. Yeah, if I'll
see your plate movie. And then you go in and
you hate watching, right, You don't mean to, but you're
looking for all the things that could be wrong with
this movie, just because like when I saw The Matrix,
everybody had seen it and it was Bill done.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
What they're doing, it's like the craziest thing ever.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Yeah, Yeah, And I went in there, I'm like, I
hate this and everything I love Keanu, Don't get me wrong,
I love me some Laurence Fishburg, but I hate this.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
We're gonna do another Matrix movie. Here's the thing we
can't do the phone booth thing anymore. That didn't really age. Well,
he's gonna be running around for a long time trying
to try to find a phone booth. We got to
do something else besides the phone booth. I told them,
I told them the phone booths are gonna be updated.
We got cell phones now, but we're not gonna have
any phone booth. But they wanted to put the phone
on with doctor who. They just keep saying, Hey, you

(17:43):
just gotta get past you.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
This is what we do.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
It's a phone, it's a phone booth here. Yeah, I
understand the rush. It is weird. Just well, I think
if Rush came around, if I was older and I
got it, like I feel like I got in the
Band of Horses when I was like my early forties.
I love Band of Horses, and I kind of feel
like if I was in my forties when Rush came around,
I would really be into Rush, Like yeah, I kind
of like. But when I was younger, I just I

(18:06):
don't know, it just didn't happen.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
I was actually showing the kids yesterday pretty good clip
South Park when they were little Rush and they make
up new words.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
Sure your kids South south Park. Wow, The things you
allow your kids to watch.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
My kids are fifteen and the other one's gonna be eighteen.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
It doesn't matter. They watched Midsommer when they were nine
years old. That was not ver did not come out
six years ago.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
But they had Little Rush and Cartman's making up the
words and he's to Tom Sawyer and he's describing everything
out of Uncle Berry Finn. So they start fighting. But
this was a clip they then used in concert to
intro the song I Won two and I Want two three,
and then they'd bust out and play.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
So it was fun times had by all exit. How
about a Fresco exit swallowing down the Jason Smiths with
Mike Carmon live from the tirec dot Com studios. So
now it is time. That's for Mike and I to
give you our official Super Bowl picks for this season,
just to let you know mine's out there a little bit.
It's out there a little bit, a little bit, a

(19:09):
little bit a little bit. Now I think you did
you know we like to pick AFC NFC championship games
as well, And over the course the last couple of months,
I've kind of let it slip how much I like
the Jaguars and the Giants. Now, you know, I'm not
lying because I really don't want the Giants to be good,
because that would be the typical Jets the year where
everything's supposed to be great. Nope, the Giants are the
best team in town. And I gonna look at headlines

(19:29):
in the New York Post going still Jinstown. Jets lose again?
What's wrong with Jets? Jins win again? Dable best coach,
Daniel Jones best quarterback either. I so I love the Jaguars,
easy division. Trevor Lawrence will get into him coming up
in a bit as well, but you know how much
I like them. I love the Jaguars. I love the Giants.

(19:51):
Giants are undervalued, They're underrated. They're One big thing they
need to do is get some better weapons in there
at wide receiver. They did that this offseason, both those
teams making it to the conference championship games. However, to
the Super Bowl, showing that dogs and cats maybe ken
live together and mass anarchy may not be a bad thing.

(20:12):
I've not done this in over twenty years, twenty years,
but this year's Super Bowl the Jets and the Lions,
Jets Lions Super Bowl Wow, Look the Jets. Anybody that's
anti Jets is anti Jets just because you want to

(20:33):
be anti Jets. I don't like the attention they're getting.
I don't like the loudmouth fans. Yeah, it's tough, deal
with it. The Jets have a top three roster. The
only thing they were missing was the quarterback. The quarterbacks
come in, the offense is humming along. The Jets are
going to be great. They're going to be great. The Lions,
their offense is going to be great. It may be

(20:55):
a little bit of dealing with the expectations the first
few weeks of the season. But Jamison Williams comes back
after Week six. They did all they can to work
him in in the preseason. This is an offense that
is going to be unstoppable, and as much as you
try to find it, there's only so many plays you
can go, Well, can we stop im on Ross saying Brown, No,
we can't. Okay, well, we can't stop Jameison Williams. Well, no,

(21:16):
it's Jamier Gibbs. It's a two headed backfield. It's an
offense that works for Jared Goff. It's the belief in
a team that they've been looking for and a togetherness
in Detroit for a long long time. At they're at
the top level on offense, all their defense needs to
be is average. You don't need to be a hey,
top three unit, top five year. You just need to

(21:37):
be average because this kind of high octane offense is
incredible Jets lines. It sounds crazy, but right. But if
I'm going crazy with the Jets, why not the Lions?
I could give you the forty nine ers, but yeah,
Brock Purty, Eh, what's that going to be? Are? Can
the Eagles get back there? They have a great roster.
Can they get there at the end of this year?

(21:57):
But that Lions offense, I know, it's sounds absolutely insane.
I'm okay with that. Jets Lions super Bowl I dig that.
I dig that.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
And in your rambling, you gave my Super Bowl prediction
Jets beating who Jets, Jaguars, and the Giants.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Oh you go Jack's Giants. I am going Jacks Giants. Yeah,
so save AFC and NFC Championship game. Said, you have
the Jaguars beating.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
The Jaguars, Giant Ravens beating the Lions, and Giants Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
I got it. So you're telling me I got to
watch the Giants play Geno Smith, and one of them
is going to make the Super Bowls. No, no, no,
not gonna do it. That's that's the way it's gonna work.
It's the way it's gonna work here. I am really
excited to see what the Chargers are.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
I am excited for this NFL season because we have
half the teams have new offensive coordinators, so we have
no idea how it's gonna work for you and your Lions.
I'm surprised you really didn't sell their new tight end,
Sam Laporta. Come on, it's another opportunity to celebrate a
guy named San Sam Sam SAMs. What does Jared Goff
like to do? Jared Goff likes team getting dunk. Yeah,

(23:06):
but it's hard. But it's hard for me to say, hey,
Sam Laporter went. Yes, he's a guy they drafted to
be great. But for a tight end to come in
your first year and be dominant, it's difficult. You got
a lot of pass catchers going to get the football there.
So if he comes in and is okay, okay, defensive
line does their job, he gets to sneak out in
the routes. Now, he's going to have space, He's going
to create space. He is.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
A lot.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
He's going to see a guy that's going to be
huge for Jared Goff for that offense to work. Uh.
But I look at the Giants and they brought in
a lot of wide receivers. It is a plethora. But
it's all going to be dependent on and the health
of two guys. Right when we talk about the NFC,
we're talking a lot about health and do you trust
the cowboys? Right? Because the forty nine ers is all

(23:52):
about do you trust their health? Do you trust the
big guys of Kittle and McCaffrey are getting through unscathed?
Does Deebo have a bounce back? And does brock Purty
hold up? And if he can't, is Sam Darnold ready
for prime time? Detroit Lions. I think it's one of
those where you just watch a situation where it's just overweighted.
At this point, you would just say everybody's heavily invested

(24:14):
in this story. I'm going the other one and then
in these the rest of the teams. I think the
commanders are good enough to screw them. Look, I don't
think that anybody's running away and hiding in that division.
But I like the way they play for Dable. I
like what they're doing in the offense there, Waller and Barkley,
they stay healthy. Daniel Jones now has enough legitimate wide

(24:38):
receivers there. You're not running out a bunch of number
twos and threes, so you can push through.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
Right.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
You're looking at the rookie they drafted as well. Look
is a guy that can stretch the field, Higatt. So
you've got opportunities Seattle. We love the wide receiving corps.
You love the running backs. Gino has weapons galore at
his disposal, and they've reformulated this team in the post
Russell Wilson era. I think I like what I see

(25:05):
on paper. I think they're knocking on the door and
they're getting their way to the NFC title game. Ravens
pass catchers for days. You don't think we have anybody here. Look,
you guys are all hurt. It's like, well, DaCosta just said,
all right, you think we need one more? He went
Ocean's eleven just kept adding, guys, Yeah, you know what,
Andrews is the one guy you trust. Yeah, but can

(25:27):
Lamar Jackson hit the over of twelve games. There's the
question for it's also tough to you can talk about
two other teams that are really loaded to and the
Bengals and the Steelers. A very difficult division. It's gonna
They're gonna Cannibal let's go, and then the Jaguars. It's
a two team race, right, Colts and Texas are gonna

(25:48):
be It's not even gonna be a race. I think
the Titans could be sneaky.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
Could they be sneaky around five hundred for a while? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Well, Bert's the Jackson. He's gonna play right up the jump.
He was looking like he might have missed the first
month him, DeAndre Hopkins and King, Henry King, Henry, Henry,
you're a.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Man boy, Henry, You're by no. Look, you know how
much I love the Jaguars. I love the Giants. The
Jaguars are ready, They're ready to take this next big step.
Trevor Lawrence in a bad division. Adding Calvin Ridley is
such a big deal. He needed that number one guy.
And the way that he has been able to assimilate
him into the offense so easily this preseason, there's been

(26:25):
no Hey, we will be on the same page. Eventually
it's a lot of Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson. Suddenly, hey,
seventeen is going to catch a lot of passes, seventeen
seventeen seventeen, So to get him in that easily. This
tells you this is a team that's on the ascent.
They are more talented everybody. They probably will be at
home for the AFC champions games, so the Jets are
don't have to go on the road and win that game.

(26:46):
But uh, look, I love the Jags, and I.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
Love ETN and a guy named Bigsby, Yeah, big tank Bigsby.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
The biggest play was going out of bounds last year
when he shouldn't for Auburn, let's go. Yeah, what do
you got, Frostburg. I just want to say thank you. No,
why is that not? And I truly mean it for
keeping my team's name out your mouth during this second. Oh,
I'm sorry. Chargers l Yeah, no, no, they're gonna win. Nope,
Chargers Chargers win. Chargers, Jets, Jaguars AFC Championship, Giants Lions

(27:17):
NFC Championship game. You're so excitable. Oh, it's exciting. Jets Lions, Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets,
j Jets.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
It's just exciting to like to not be in a
vacuum and doing this saying all right, there's still seven
weeks left. Yeah, go get your vacations, go run around. No,
kids are back at school.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
No, we're gonna on.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
The tournaments that you play over the holiday for your
different sports leagues are done. All your to do list
will just get kicked down the down the road till February.
Let's get it on. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio

(27:57):
and the iHeartRadio app Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon
rest in p Steve. We had a crazy story out
of the NFL coming about ten minutes surrounding a quarterback
and something his wife said recently, Matthew Stafford. It's Matthew Stafford,
but a big story today involving the best quarterback in

(28:23):
college football and the presumably number one overall pick in
the draft, Johd Williams. A recent GQ profile that is
out from so you know this is interview that's done.
Wait advance because GQ. I think they do their interviews
like eight years in advance, long leads. Yeah, we all listened.
We just did the interview. When does it come out
four months? Why? Well, we need some time to get
the glossy pictures together.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
So yeah, man, you remember fantasy magazines. They're still on
the stands. When were those written April? A week after
the draft? Where the deadline?

Speaker 1 (28:55):
I can't give you. I can't give you a muck
draft when we haven't even had the NFL. Just give
me a play taking care of business, get to the
fun about working overtime. Caleb Williams ZEQ profile two shocking
things in it. The one you think is a shocker
is his dad saying, hey, Caleb hasn't made his decision
about going to the NFL. He's got two shots at

(29:16):
the apple. If he doesn't like what he sees, meaning
if the Arizona Cardinals continue to tank and wind up
getting the number one overall pick, maybe that's not where
he wants to go. That's not the shocking part that
concerns me, because this is that's just way too early. Well,
why even worried about that? Now? It's not like you
have any Yeah, either, the end of the season comes,

(29:36):
you're gonna say you go to the NFL. You're not.
It's a team that's gonna take you number one overall
that you like or you don't.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
You just wanted to warn a few people in our
business that said it's a non isshoe.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
That's all Peyton Manning did it. Bill Parcells wouldn't tell
him he'd be the number one overall pick, which is
the worst thing Bill Parcells ever did for the Jets. Says,
I'm going back to school. What's wrong with you? Bill Parcells?
Tell Peyton Manning we could have had never mind, we
got Aaron Rodgers everything. We're going to the Super Bowl.
So it's happened before we've seen it. But that's not
a conversation that has any bearing in reality. For another

(30:07):
five months, right, Caleb Wims could have a down year,
Cal Williams could get hurt. Call Williams could decide no
matter what I'm leaving. The Cardinals could win a few
games whatever. The Rams could wind up being the team one.
I mean, there's five teams that could be there. Sure.
The big one to me is when is Caleb Williams
was asked, what do you want? What are you looking

(30:28):
for in your career? And he said eight super Bowls,
one more than Tom Brady has eight super Bowls. I
couldn't help but think back to Terrell Pryor when I
saw this statement. Terrell Pryor when he was coming out
of college was going to be a great quarterback in
the NFL. And the Sports Illustrated talked to him and

(30:50):
did a big did a big article on him coming out,
and you know, people compare him to Vince Young, and
Vince Young called him on the phone to talk to
him and help with the NFL and everything, and he said,
I don't want to be you know, no disrespect Evince,
but I want to be compared to Tom Brady and
the greats. And that's what I want. And what happened.
Trell Prior got to the NFL, couldn't sustain any success,
did not have a long career, right. He was a
wide receiver for a while. When guys start thinking about

(31:15):
all the platitudes they want to accomplish in the NFL,
I worry about that. I worry about about a guy
like Caleb Williams that has everything right, not that he
doesn't work hard, not that he's not not that he's
not talented, not that he's not a guy who's gonna
go number one overall. But when I hear a guy
say I want eight super Bowls, dude, you have no
idea what it takes to even win one. You have

(31:35):
no idea what it takes to throw a pass in
the NFL. And he's talking about winning eight super bowl
So you're belief when I hear it, You're not a believer.
You're not a believer. Next question. So when I hear it,
when I hear a kid talking about I want eight
super Bowls, yeah, you could blow it off, and oh
it's a kid, But this is a guy who is
going number one overall. The dress someone's going to blow
it off. And I'm worry and I'm I worry about

(31:58):
does he are his feet on the ground enough to
be able to get through what it means to be
a quarterback in the NFL. Because right when you're sitting
here and saying I want eight, dude, you haven't even
been you did we get to a playoff game in
college football? Okay, and you're talking about eight super Bowls.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
Now.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
It concerns me because he's going to be getting all
of that responsibility very early.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
No, I would be concerned about the fact that dad
is talking about sticking around college.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
What do I always tell you parents and significant others
when they.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
Talk about whatever, we start getting that stuff. And that's
that's where it gets a little. I get a little nervous,
right because in this particular case, like, yes, the money
is great at USC, there's more.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
You're allowed to say that. Now we're allowed to say
the money's we're allowed to say it is.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
Everybody else is just nod in weak for years past,
but now you can say it. But you know, you
always want just a little bit more. Uh, And you
don't want to take chances that something goes awry. Whatever
insurance policies or whatever else you can force your way
out of whoever has the number one pick. We've seen
it multiple times. People forget John Eway, go back and

(33:03):
watch the Eli Manning saga.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
You can do this.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
Uh, but yes they eight Super Bowl not concerning aspired
to greatness.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
Yeah, just you got to be a believer. Is it great?

Speaker 3 (33:14):
John twenty twenty nine blused just those you believe but
have not seen.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
Jason, you're a Jets fan, What do you know about
a Super Bowl? I don't know if that's Hey, tell
me about a nice lily year called nineteen sixty nine.
Hey more NFL. The lay next Fox
