Speaker 2 (00:51):
Well.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
We had two scoring plays. One was actually a score.
The Bears are in the end zone, Caleb Williams hitting
Keenan Allen on a sixteen yard touchdown pass to make
it twenty seven to twelve. The Bears go for two.
The two point conversion pass to DJ Moore is incomplete,
so it is a fifteen point lead with five and
(01:14):
a half minutes left to go, The Bears have the
opportunity as long as they signal they will on sidekick. Meanwhile,
the Raiders and the Falcons. Falcons are looking to take
an eighteen to three lead, but Young Wayku misses a
field goal. So now the Raiders, who clearly have nobody
else they want to put in a quarterback, are now
(01:35):
going to attempt to drive. With Desmond Ritter finally completing
his first pass of the night to a wide receiver,
there are five minutes to go in the fourth quarter
and he's just completed the first pass to a wide
receiver all night. Jacobi Meyers finally catches a pass and
I don't know, Raider fans have to be a little
bit unsure here because it's a game they could potentially
(01:57):
still win at you know, fifteen to three. But the
big tank for Chador signs that are everywhere they keep
showing at the stadium and they keep showing tom to
lets up there, Like what are they waiting for Telesco
to say something like yeah? Like they show the tank
for the tank for Shador sign and tlus he's gonna
go yeah, tank for like he's gonna hold it up
(02:19):
himself at one point to hold it up. Yeah, I
just put the sign up. Do you think he's doodling?
He's just drawing pictures of what look like is do
an ai on his phone? At your sketch?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
What?
Speaker 3 (02:33):
What?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
What do you do with? Tom? Well, I'm actually on
on Etsy right now. I'm designing a great alternate Shudor
Sanders Raiders Jersey.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
What was that thing where you had the guy where
you manipulated the metal to beards and hairstyles and whatever.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
That's oh yeah, yeah, sure, hey guys got him the past. Yeah,
Desmond Ritter has been absolutely awful tonight. And you see
aide O'Connell is in is in uniform, Jim Plunkett is
in uniform, Ken Stabler's in uniform, Darryl Lamonica is in uniform. No, no, no,
this is what we're going with. Well there, we're going right.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
They went to the formation early on and got the
ball in did Jacobe Meyers hands And you're like, ah,
another wide receiver throw like we've seen so many teams try.
I'm looking at you, ad Ni Mitchell. But Myers didn't
throw the ball. But at some point, you know it's
the old Hey he was once a quarterback. Thing can't
be any worse than what you've seen.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Look, there is no better fit and no bet like
that makes more sense than Chador Sanders to the Raiders, right,
because whatever it is, Dion can wait a couple of
years and say, oh, I'll go, oh, we're not winning,
and you know, my kid's got a big contract that
y'all come in and coach. They don't need to go together.
It's fine. Dean Sanders can stay and Antonio Peers can
have another year, But really, does is there anything that
(03:52):
makes more sense than than Chador Sanders in the glitz
and glamour of Vegas. He's the most high profile core
back in the game. He's polarizing. You love him. Oh,
I wish he would do this. I wish you wouldn't
throw his offensive line under the bus. It comes with Dion,
because Dion's gonna be like LeVar Ball. But like time's fifty, Like,
there's no better fit that you want to see. What's
(04:14):
the most entertaining fit you could possibly see? Shaudre Sanders
Raiders quarterback. There's nothing else like That's it. That's the
one that's the fit, right, there nowhere else anybody other quarterbacks. Yeah,
Shadur Sanders Raiders, and they are, you know, a couple
of games away for potentially moving up enough to have
that happen.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
About that, you look at it when when you get
to the marketing and sales and everything that is the
the Raiders and go to the brand. Certainly, Uh and
their history right being a little bit of a renegade,
a little bit out there. I mean, that's a but
Dion Sanders has preached and certainly Shaudur has taken a
little of that on in his comments to the press.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
And the personality and and let's face it, folks picked
aside in that battle year and no matter what they
did or didn't do this year, they stayed there. It's
been a little quieter, but certainly Colorado a fantastic season
and for sure do everything he could. You could have
made the argument come he finished eighth and high Heisman voting,
(05:16):
but look at look at the big games that he
had all year long. Offensive line was better, and they
got something out of the run game at least for
a couple of weeks before it ended up being back
on his arm. So all of that to say, yeah,
it's a marriage that rights itself. I mean, how many
times will you see him on the side of the
sphere before it's done? Oh?
Speaker 1 (05:37):
I put him on there now holiday they display No,
just just show all of his Colorado highlights. Showed Dion
press conferences on the sphere. Sure, why not? I do
like that.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
The Raider fans headgear gets more and more elaborate. Yeah, yeah, no,
that is true. So that's where we sit right now.
Touchdown Raiders Mira Abdula is in for an eight yard
touchdown pass. So now it's a fifteen to nine game
because of course the Raiders missed the extra point still
with three minutes left to go. We'll have more on
(06:10):
this game and more on the end of the Vikings
and the Bears twenty seven to twelve, just under three
minutes left to go.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
In that one. But we talked about the Bills aspect
the side of winning things yesterday, and clearly the Lions
didn't just lose a game yesterday. They lost a lot,
you know, just when they were getting their their defensive
lineback healthy. Now they've lost more players for the season,
likely David Montgomery with a knee injury, and he's going
to miss the rest of the way. So no knuckles
(06:38):
with Sonic, and knuckles your fault. It's listen. We talked,
we talked to Okay, okay, no, no one from the
Lions will ever talk to us again. But it's not
my fault. We had David monte lest there and team
that you've sent away. But this is tough because I
got to go home and see my wife's family in
a week and twice he's blanked the law. Yeah, no,
(07:01):
sorry about that guy. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
It's not me going back to last year when you
picked him to win it at all and that didn't happen.
And now David Montgomery comes on, gives us a few minutes.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Now he's hurting.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
You suggest how he's gonna make his money, you know,
pitching burgers.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
I didn't know he was a vegan. I said, do it.
I said do it. How about you and Jamier Gibbs
do some sort of event at Sonic for the judge
and sign and sign autographs and make money And he said,
I don't know about that. I didn't know he was
a vegan. It's okay. Certain things I need to know
about players to be able to talk about I don't
need to know that he's a vegan. It's okay, it's fine.
And I just said I didn't say go eat a burger.
(07:36):
I just said he It was like Steve de Seger said,
he goes a sonic and that shakes only only No, No,
that's I don't think that. I don't think that's not true.
That is not It might be they wouldn't do it
if they asked him. No into my shake?
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Yeah, what the hell was with the number of combinations
that they claim they can give you from the average RSL?
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Then yeah, whatever you want if that was the thing
you'd have in ivy. Oh, I don't know. Man burger shakes,
I don't know. That's I might have to go try
that one. That's tough. I mean, although protein. I'll tell
you I was intrigued. This weekend. Giada de Laurentis put
this thing out, chocolate pasta. I was like, ooh, now
it doesn't sound good, But Giada, if you're gonna make
(08:22):
that and tell me it's good, I'll try that chocolate pasta, okay,
because that's in the next iteration of things for me
is actually to learn to make homemade chocolate pasta. How
much cheese are you putting on your chocolate pasta? Oh wow,
I'm putting chocolate flavored cheese on my pasta. It's chocolate
pasta with chocolate flavored cheese or cheese flavored chocolate. So
the one just put chocolate into the cheese grater. Say
(08:44):
when there's like my two favorite things in the world
of chocolate and cheese, the two favorite things, two things
I can't have on this blimp and diet, then I'm
doing ah, but yeah, chocolate and cheese. Man, chocolate cheese.
You like that kid that ate everything in Will you
want chocolate cheese? Yeah? And then I then I fell
into the chocolate river. M that was with chocolate. We're
stuck in the tube. But while it sucks for the
(09:07):
Lions obviously missing players David Montgomery's gonna be a blow,
it'll be more for Jamir Gibbs. They have a bigger
issue because this is the part of the year teams
lose players. It happens, right. Dan Campbell even said it today. Look,
we know it's an opportunity for somebody else to step up.
This is the unavoidable part of the NFL. Guys get
hurt late in the season, It sucks, but everybody's dealing
(09:29):
with injuries like this. It sucks you lose David Montgomery,
but Jamir gibs us a better running back. The thing
you gotta worry about is what have we talked about
the big thing for the Lions all season long. You
gotta worry about campbelling because Dan Campbell is gonna make
the wrong decision at the wrong time because of his
hubris or emotion, and it's gonna kill the Lions at
(09:51):
the absolute worst time. We talked about the decisions about
going for it on fourth down. Yeah, when it works out, great,
But Nick All, first, all fourth down going forward conversions
are not created equal, and doing it week eleven against
the Bears or the Packers is much different than saying, hey,
we've done it all year, let's do it in the
second half of the NFC Championship game. You cast yourself
(10:13):
a trip to the Super Bowl. Last year, they've gone
for it on fourth down a few times, and it's
worked out a couple of times for them. Yesterday, the
big on side kick with over ten minutes left in
the game. I get you can't stop the Buffalo Bills offense,
but you had hit a little bit of a You
had to stop them at some point because you know
you're down two scores, and he goes for the on
side kick and the Bills, I only get it. They
(10:34):
would turn it down to the three yard line. They're
in for a touchdown to play later and the Lions
still never caught up. Campbell talked about it after, said, yeah,
if I'd known, I don't know. I don't know that
I would do that play again. But this is the
real danger for the Lions. The Lions are a great
football team. I don't care they lost yesterday. They had
been a little bit of fat cat syndrome, said I
did their cat. Lions a little bit of fat cat
(10:56):
syndrome where they had kind of shown up for some games.
When you win a lot of games in a row,
sometimes you don't. You don't come out with the energy
you need, and that certainly has been the case with
the Lions, and that wasa cost him yesterday. They came
out a little flat. The Bills are up fourteen to nothing,
and from then on the game was even. But the
Lions could never get back that bad start they had.
So that's gonna happen. I'm okay with that. That's what
we're going but Dan Campbell making those decisions again because
(11:19):
of hubris, because we always do it this way, because
it's all created equal, or it's a gut feeling. These
are the things that get you crushed in big games
that matter. And I'm saying this is for the Lions.
We're gonna be talking about this in January. And you
really think we're not gonna be talking about the Lions
going home because Dan Campbell made a really ridiculously risky
(11:39):
decision that didn't go their way. Tell me that's not
gonna be how the Lion season ends. With the Monday
after the playoff game being boy, I don't know what
Dan Campbell was thinking on that. That's exactly how the
Lion season is gonna end.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Well as it stands now, they're gonna end up getting bullied,
so it's not gonna matter no matter what their identity
has been. They don't have enough body defensively because the
war of attrition at this point, throw the damn towel.
If you're the Lions. Now, I'll defend the on side
kick decision, even though it's this dopey rule where you
(12:13):
have to declare it in all which is about as
dumb as the ghost runner in baseball. When it's all
said and down, and we've seen the level of effectiveness
what is it six point eight percent or something actually
being converted, you needed to keep your defense off the
field at that point. That was as much as anything
(12:33):
of not only can you not stop Josh Allen, you
need those guys to be off the field for two
minutes to get some semblance of strength back whatever the
old video game analogy of getting your power bar back.
But for Dan Campbell, I'm just fearful you don't have
(12:54):
enough bodies playing this iteration of what the Eagles put
at you. They're a better defense with Jason locking for
a last hour. We've watched what the Philly defense has
been able to do for going on what two months plus.
You lost Brandon Graham, but otherwise you're healthy, able to play. Yeah,
they're throwing punches and fighting and Mike Tomlin's mad, But
(13:16):
all of that to say, they've been sticking it to
other teams and the offensive line. While not as stout
necessarily at every turn as they've been in the past
with the loss of Kelsey and others, they've more than
held their own and even in a game where Saquon
Barclay's held down, you're able to pass the ball effectively
(13:36):
what you knew was gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Right, All you need to do is create enough noise,
like I'll show you.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
And sure enough, they actually all went to the podium
and said, is that enough for you?
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Is what you want? Are you not entertained? Yeah, you
took the bait.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
But that's the thing I think at this point is
from a matchup standpoint, they're also at a disadvantage whereby
in the weeks the lead up to this against division opponents,
body blow, body blow, body blow, and then here you're
down for the count and it's only a regular season game.
But I think it poor tends to bigger issues because
(14:14):
you just don't have the physicality that you can match
with some of these other front runs.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Now. But look, but here's the thing. If you're playing
at home and you're playing in a comfortable environment and
you have some time to figure things out, that's going
to alay a lot of fears you're going to play
one less game. If you have home field advantage, that's
going to help you not get Bullyt's gonna help you
the physical part of it. But look, but that's something
that when when when it comes to this point in
(14:38):
the year in the NFL, you know, a lot of
teams have to deal to who knows who's coming in.
Maybe a team's coming in to play that can bully them,
but maybe not. Maybe it's another team that that plays finesse.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
And I'm just saying where we stand right now, I mean,
it's not like, look at a month from now, how
many guys come back healthy and what you're putting out
on the defensive end not sure? And what's left in
Philly right or Minnesota for that matter, uh is still
up for debate. But Dan Campbell has made the fourth
down and campbelling the identity of the squad telling.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
That for worse, tell me the season is not gonna
end with us on a Monday night going. I can't
believe that insert decision X that was emotional and really
made at the wrong time by Dan Campbell. I can't
believe that decision cost them the game and cost them.
That's how it might also be the voodoo doll you
had with David Montgomery exit out about a Fresca exit
(15:31):
swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend,
Mike Harmon. Well, one game is over. The Vikings put
the Bears out of their misery. Thirty to twelve is
the final. Meanwhile, a couple of big plays happening right
now for the Falcons. Potentially the Raiders could get the
football back with the last chance to win the game.
Oh boy, are we talking about an unbelievable Raiders comeback?
(15:52):
That's coming up next right here, Jason and Mike Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of the j Sin
Smith's Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
App Raiders, Do you want Shador Sanders or not? What
kind of mixed message are you sending to your fan base?
Jason Smith Mike Harmon Live the Tirack dot Com Studios.
The Raiders trail the Falcons fifteen to nine. However, this
(16:29):
last gasp drive just kept alive. Jacoby Myers catching a
big pass after a fourth down conversion on a pass
to a Mirrabdulah has the Raiders right now in striking position.
They have the ball at the Atlanta Falcon thirty six
(16:49):
yard line. There's ten seconds left, no time out, so
one play to get out of bounds is short one
out of bounds and then some kind of hail Mary
you do, which would be the most Raiders thing you
ever right, because if they win this game, they virtually
have no shot at your door. Sanders like, I don't
know what you're rooting for in Vegas, Like, what are
you rooting for?
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Well, you're still maybe kind of pissed at that blocked
pat spread being six at all.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
If you lose three straight, to lose this game, you're
guaranteed the first pick, You're guaranteed. They're they're going for
a hail Mary incomplete. But there's still time on the clock.
There is still two seconds left, so it's gonna be
back to back hail Mary's for the Raiders, Ridder throwing
it into a gaggle of players, it falls in complete.
(17:35):
You got a two seconds left? Yeah, it looked like, uh,
it looked like they Raiders Raiders needed more players. There
were two Raiders there and seven Falcons around the football,
but still two seconds. I mean, I mean, if I'm
a Raider fan, I don't know what I'm rooting for,
Like I want to win, Yeah, but boy, I really
want the first pick and get a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (17:54):
Yeah, but you can really want to right, it's the
I mean, I guess if it's complete and they score
and then we get the Bills best of both worlds?
What the hell did the Falcons do after this? Followed
by the Raiders potentially giving up the first pick.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
It is thrown into the end zone. Who comes down
with it? It is a Falcons interception plus two and
that is going to end the game. Falcons get the pick.
Boy Richard just didn't put enough under it. The ball
comes down, but more mine drive. Yeah, nobody could get
down there enough time and like he didn't have any
(18:30):
kind of arc on it, didn't put enough air under it.
So it's an interception in the end zone and the
Falcons win it by the final of fifteen to nine.
Now succeed and proceed Jayson Smith before we get to
Kirk Cousins, let's sing at the Raiders part of this. Yeah,
here's the thing is that I know that, Hey, you
want to win games. And I was always that way
(18:52):
too for most of my life. I was I don't
care about draft picks. I want to win games. We're
out there to win. We're out there. But you know,
I'm old enough to remember when we were in competition
for the number one overall pick, which was supposed to
be Trevor Lawrence at the time, and turned out, you know,
by winning at winning a game that we shouldn't have won,
beating the Rams. Frank Gore in his last access, I
(19:14):
will make sure the Jets on now the number one
overall pick. I remember the Jets winning a game and
Frank Gore catching a ball for a first down and
falling backwards with enough yards for the first down. The
Jets won that game, and that took them from pole
position for Trevor Lawrence to picking second, and the Jets
never won again, and the Jets never lost or were
able to to lose enough to get back up there.
(19:36):
The Jaguars kept the number one pick. And as much
as Trevor Lawrence is just a guy, hey, I'd like
to have just a guy a quarterback for the Jets
the last few years that you could have potentially molded. Yeah, exactly, Jets.
We would we would have broken them. We would have broken,
would have broken in theory. And so as I've gotten older,
(19:57):
I realized, you know, and that's why I've come around
on this one hundred and eighty degrees to the point
where you that that game, I think about Frank Gore
falling backwards going great, thanks Frank, We're gonna we're we're
not gonna out now. Now we're gonna get Zach Wilson
and and and like that. That that flips a franchise
for a decade. It flips a franchise for a decade. Now,
I'm not out and out saying when we're out there, go,
I'm rooting against it, going, come on, Falcons, come on,
(20:20):
Raheen Morris. What kind of defense do you have out there?
But when when they lose, I'm like, okay, I feel
better about the loss because long term, if you don't
have a quarterback in the league, life is miserable. And
you watch Desmond rid Or it took him to the
mid midway point of the fourth quarter to compete a
pass to a wide receiver. You have a chance. If
you lose these games, you move up. You were gonna
pick first, You'll get Shadoras Sanders, You'll you'll get You'll
(20:41):
get him. He's he's the fit of all fits. So yeah,
I'm not nearly upset at all. If I'm the Raiders
and I lose. Okay, as long as we don't go
oh to seventeen, I'm fine. We've already won enough games. Yeah,
we're we're over all right, that's fine. Next year we'll
have our great quarterback in and it's gonna be it's
gonna be a new era, and it's gonna be a
new head coach, new everything. And I have reasons to
be excited and to be ready to go, because if
(21:04):
the Raiders had won this game, they drop. You're picking
like six or seventh. Like, there's a lot of teams, right,
there's a lot of bad teams. We talked with this
a week and a half ago. There's more bad teams
in the NFL this year than any other team. You
have so many teams at two and three wins and
a couple of tame. Look, the Jets won yesterday for
their third fourth win. Hey, no chance of picking first now.
They have not too many teams to leap frog. You
(21:24):
have so many bad teams that winning a game is
gonna take you out of that. So rooting for this,
I'm like, yeah, okay, I want to win, But at
the same time, when that last ball goes up, in
the air. I'm going, yeah, I kind of want that.
I kind of want that pass to hit the ground.
I kind of don't want to catch that because, yes,
it will be It will be fun for five minutes.
It'll be fun for five minutes. But at the end,
when when it comes down to it, it's, oh, man,
(21:47):
now we're stuck with Aiden O'Connell and Desmond d or
trying to make this work again next year, or maybe
we'll go sign Cooper Rush and free agency. Oh boy,
that'll be something. Like you had to realize that there.
It doesn't. It doesn't help to win four or five
games a year. It doesn't in any sport. Doesn't help
to be mediocrely bad. You need to be unbelievably bad
in order to get what you need out of the draft.
I mean, there's only a couple of guys that are
(22:08):
gonna go in the top two or three, right like, like,
it's really gonna be Shador Sanders and Cam Warden. That's it.
Everybody else is going. Like later in the end of
the first round, second round, Drew Aller is staying. He
would have been the third quarterback off the board. He
decided to stay at Penn State, for his senior year.
So understand that when that ball's in the air at
the end, if I'm a Raiders fan, I go, yeah,
I kind of want that tet the ground. I kind
(22:30):
of want that tet the ground right there.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
Well, and that's the thing, right, We've talked about it
forever with the NFL, I mean with all sports. Either
want to be competing and really legitimately be competing, not
on the fringe, not like the ten seed in the
NBA and wishing wanning, hoping that everything breaks your way,
and every once in a while it might, but otherwise
(22:55):
you're not running through a playoff grind. And then where
are you. You're in the middle, especially at I mean
at the quarterback position. They know they have to make
a change, whatever that is, and I'll bring him back
Minshew Aid O'Connell's not that guy. And certainly Desmond Ritter,
I think he ran out a shotgun the entire night.
I don't think they ran a play from under center.
(23:17):
I don't know that's sustainable.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
In a league. I think that was like, hey, how
do we avoid sacks. Let's line them up deep the gun?
What about one to hand the ball off? Hand it
off out of the shotgun. That's what we're gonna do.
We're gonna do toss plays the whole night. Oh, the
Raider is really good, though, I think they should they
should give him like seven years.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Well, talk to your guy Ti LESCo and see if
he can make that happen.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
That'd be great.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
Yeah, he got a lot of screen time that I
will have to go back and watch what the broadcast
was saying every time they showed to LESCo because uh,
in my timeline from Chicago, they were really trying to
hype up the management side of things, which you can
only laugh about.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
But for the Raiders, yeah, I mean this was the
best endgame.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Because otherwise you're great. Otherwise you ended up reaching for
QB three, four or five or having to get lucky
in the second or third round. Maybe this guy develops
and he becomes a star. Who knows, But you're also
still the Raiders because you still also have to answer
the question of does Antonio Pierce get another year?
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Some folks claim now that he asked you no.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
No.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
If you're picking, if you're picking high enough where you're
taking a franchise quarterback, you are getting a new head coach.
If you're not I can see that. But certain times
when hey, okay, you're bringing this is a new team.
Now everything is new. This is where you started. Now
I'm in full agreement that's where you're start new.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
You know, the the larger think tank has been well,
Pierce can't be hamstrung and be on the hook for this, Like,
yeah you can. That's it's it's a different world, like
the NFL is no longer akin to what an old
college program wulge, which is obviously changed as well, and
that you don't get to build a prog if it resets.
(25:02):
And I always felt bad for Steve Wilkes and for
Rosen to a degree in Arizona the way things worked out. Hey,
but Kingsbury Murray come as a package and you move on.
Same thing here. If you've got the opportunity to pair
Shador Sanders with an offensive coach and try to push
things to another level.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Right, you've got.
Speaker 4 (25:21):
Jacoby Myers, You've got brock Bowers, You've already got two
building blocks. Your guy Myers actually finished with a five
for fifty nine game, not too shabby considering where you
were coming from. Not what you hoped for for your
fantasy playoff can catch a ball to the fourth quarter. Well,
but you know what, you end up with a ten
point nine point performance. You shrug and go, well, it
(25:44):
beat the zero that I was sitting at for most
of the night to where I was hoping he was
getting go back in formation to potentially throw a pass.
That's where you were with Jacoby Myers. But yeah, for
the Raiders, you don't love two and twelve seasons, But
obviously you're looking bigger picture. Being seven, seven and ten
(26:09):
or going eight to nine just lead you to make
more bad choices because you're not gonna necessarily do the
blow up reset at all, because you're gonna argue yourself
into well, that game was winnable, that game was winnable.
This one would have been the worst because look at it,
you could have beaten the Falcons still fighting for the playoffs,
and you would have done so without Max Crosby. She
(26:31):
just saying, I mean, look at the effort we put up.
Look at what they still do for Antonio Pierce.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
That's nice. What's our record? What's here? Are we picking?
How high are we picking?
Speaker 4 (26:39):
But no, okay, going into it, going into and twelve,
you don't have to have any of those arguments, and
I would like to thank Mark Davis and his friends
that were there in the stands with him. They've been
through this often enough to know that you've got to
break the cycle.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
I was making to see you tune in. Mark Davis
is screaming down, going fumble, fumble, throw an interception, turn
the ball over. I'm going down. I'm going to call
a new play. I want you to hand the ball
to the defensive tackle when he gets through. What hand
the ball the defensive tackle?
Speaker 4 (27:08):
But be the extension of what we saw from New
England right with the video of what the hell out
of play call is at?
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Yeah? Same thing here is why is he getting the
first down? What are we doing? It's why is he
extending this drive? Abdullah go down? The Raiders loose tonight,
but they win because because you're you're you're in, you're
in the mix with the number one overall pick and
you're a chance to flip your franchise in one fell swoop.
You're still the Raiders, so the likelihood get it. Yeah,
(27:36):
But but it's like the Jets, like the Bears. You know,
my era of good. But you have to bring to
have hope and met Sure, you gotta hope that the
next guy is going to get it right. The next
guy is going to be the guy. You have to
have that. Well, I have that hope. Hope is a danger.
I look great, look great for a quarterback or.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
Just yeah, and while maybe auditioning for front off his
jobs including I don't know, maybe lobbying to get himself
into Las Vegas. Evidently uh Lewis Riddick was quoted several
times of liking the game plan for what the Raiders
were doing.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
Now, Frostburg, I know you have Tom Telesco's phone number.
I want you to text him right now and say, hey, Riddle,
look great, He's your future. And then I want you
to show me that you sent him that text. Are
you daring me? I'm daring you to send him that
text saying Desmond Ridder is the future. Well you just
lost the bet. What do I win? Or send it to?
I'd have you text hey, big win tonight. I get
(28:36):
said no and no replacing and no like you know, replacing,
no replacing Telesco's name. You know your wife's name on
your phone with Tom to LESCo. Okay, that's really Joe Douglas.
I'm gonna put Abby's name. I'm gonna take that out.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
I'm gonna put in top to LESCo, Thomas Dimitrioff, Exit
out bout a Fresco exit swollend The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
Now to a guy who could be the future GM
of the New York Jet. How about that? It's Steve Desager.
He's got what's trending.
Speaker 5 (29:09):
No, at this point in my career, I'm not going
to take a down move. That's not even a.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Lie by the way we did. He's got a family.
An hour ago, we had you on roller skates delivering
food at Sonic. Now I'm gonna make you GM of
a football. For the record, there aren't that many Sonics
out here.
Speaker 5 (29:27):
We had Atlanta and Minnesota each winning Monday night football games. Tonight,
you talked about the Raiders draft. Their draft history first
rounds included not that great if you go back, not
just in the last six eight years I'm talking about,
but they did hit on Brock Bowers at tight end,
and in the loss you mentioned his stats. He's now
up to in his rookie season nine hundred and sixty
(29:47):
eight yards receiving. That's just over one hundred yards away
from Mike Dicka's all time record rookie receiving yards by
a tight end with the asterisk that Mike Dickett did
it in a fourteen game NFL season and then this
was game fourteen.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
And what a great decision to not draft a tight
end in the first round a year before so they
can have everything clear for brock Hours to come in exactly.
So now they've got two.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
It's good that they're referring to Ditka and remembering his
playing career during these final games.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
He actually was eight. He played player abbsolutely.
Speaker 5 (30:21):
This was before all the mustache and the sweaters.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
And I think he had a mustache he was playing, really,
I think he had. I don't think it was the
silver mustache that were usedIt and see, and I don't
think he was wearing the Bears cut off sweater while
he was playing by that, Okay.
Speaker 5 (30:37):
The nineteen eighty five sweater that we all are very
familiar with from Saturday Night Life, Minnesota beat the Bears
by the way thirty to twelve.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Tonight Bears have lost eight in a row.
Speaker 5 (30:47):
Aaron Jones one hundred and six total yards in a
TD Minnesota had clinched a playoff Berth last night, the
Raiders lost at home, was their tenth in a row.
Atlanta beat him fifteen to nine. B John Robinson one
hundred and twenty five yards rushing. So the Raiders actually
with the late score, they don't lose by double digits.
They were about to tie a franchise record with their
(31:07):
ninth double digit loss of this season. But it's still
true that they've trailed at some point by double digits
in every game this season fourteen and counting as ap
put it. The record is the nineteen eighty six Colts,
who in every game that season trailed by double digits.
Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a high ankle sprain,
(31:28):
said to be mild.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
He's weak to week he's faking. The Chiefs cut running.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
Back Clyde Edwards Hilaire, former first rounder and Lions running
back David Montgomery is out for the year with a
torn mcl For Seattle, the MRI on quarterback Gino smithnee
showed no structural damage. Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson resigned
in the NBA. We've got two late games in LA.
The Clippers lead nearing halftime is eighty one forty seven.
(31:54):
I'll just put this in the W column and say
Utah is going to go to five and twenty on
the season. It's ear it has been a early come
back in Sacramento. By the way, in the other late game,
Kings are now leading Denver mid third quarter eighty five
to eighty. Earlier wins for Philadelphia and for Detroit in overtime,
Pistons and Miami won twenty five one twenty four despite
(32:15):
the orange chair of Jimmy Butler. He had thirty five points,
nineteen rebounds, ten assists, no turnovers in a loss. Kay
Cunningham with a triple double including eighteen assists for Detroit.
And by the way, the Orioles signed a veteran right
handed pitcher from Japan, Tomoyuki Sugano, one year, thirteen million
dollars for the thirty five year old. His career era
(32:36):
overseas two point four to five. Back to you, Thank you,
Steve o Hey.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Speaking of Sacarino, do you hear Sacarento State has fifty
million dollars at nil money? Do you heard that? Sorry? Today,
that's a pretty big deal.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
I did not know that kind of raises an eyebrow,
fifty million dollars in money.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Adam Schefter, Thank you, Steven Uh Coming up next. Okay,
there's a quarterback from tonight we have to have a
conversation about, and it's it's it's a serious conversation we
have to have. Well, we don't talk aboutout one of
the guys we saw playing tonight. That's next, Jason and
Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon. Can you let it breathe like a SpongeBob?
Let it breathe? Is that enough breathing? Mary? How do
you breathe if you're at bikini bottom? No, you go
inside the Pineapple and there's air. No, there's not. Sandy's
(33:41):
place has a air. Okay, that's why they have to
have the mask. You're also porous, so I mean there's
air inside you. So there's that. If you're porous, there
is that? The better you can say you're poor absorbent
and yellow and porous. Is he depends how many sandwiches
you Vitna So we watched the Falcons beat the Raiders
(34:04):
fifteen to nine, falls short at the end, and the
discussion about Kirk Cousins has to happen. Now. He did
break his touchdown less streak tonight by throwing a touchdown
for the Falcons. It's good Drake London early on a
thirty yarder. Yeah, I mean, look, you're not gonna get
(34:24):
more wide open than Drake London wasn't, so you kind
of had to hit that. But look the Falcons win.
They're seven and seven, and I really am surprised. Said
we talked to this a couple of weeks ago. Hey,
if Kirk Cousins you you have to make a move,
you have to go to to Michael Pennix Junior, because
we aga he's just he's terrible. And even though he
(34:46):
threw a touchdown tonight, I mean you see, he wasn't
moving well, he wasn't making great decisions. Like I'm looking
at Kirk Cousin going, is he done? Like, is Kirk
Cousins just done? And he's got three more years left
on his contract as salary for next year is all guaranteed.
I'm watching him going, I mean, and it's a long shot,
not really a long shot. But the Falcons need some
stuff to happen the last couple of weeks to make
(35:07):
the play. I'm not saying they can't, but they're a
game behind now, but they need some things to happen.
But like, while I'm watching Kirk Cousins and I go,
is he just done? Like I was willing for the
beginning of the season to say, all right, maybe he
needs some time to get back. And he hasn't played
football in a long time. Okay, now he's getting it back.
But look, even Aaron Rodgers is playing a little bit
better at the end of the year after being away
for so long. And Kirk Cousins just he doesn't look
(35:30):
like like the guy that he used to be. I
mean again, you know, having trouble with the snap, He's
having trouble moving, He's having trouble completing pass He only
threw seventeen passes tonight. You can you can't even trust
him at this point to throw a bunch of passes.
He hasn't had a quarterback game. Was rating's been over
seventy five in five weeks. And if you're the Falcons,
it's what do we do these last three weeks. We
(35:51):
gotta keep when we were lucky. We played the Raiders tonight,
but we played good teams like Minnesota and the Chargers
in Denver. Oh wait, we got we lost all We
lost all those games. Like I know that, you know that, hey,
and you win the game and that's what counts. But man,
you gotta have something. You have no spark to your offense.
You're not scoring a lot of points. And at this point,
what are you gonna lose by going to somebody else?
(36:13):
You're really gonna say, Okay, we're gonna we're gonna go
all the way down this road. Because I get the
part of well, if you bench Kirk Cousins now, is
he really gonna be your quarterback next year? And that's irrelevant.
He's not gonna be your quarterback next year, no matter
what money he is owed everything else. You have Kirk Cousins,
you have Michael Pennix Junior. Doesn't mean does doesn't mean
Kirk Cousins has to start just because he's on the roster.
Just like how the Browns the story this week and
(36:36):
that they're gonna run it back with Deshaun Watson on
the team next year. Yeah, just because you're on the team,
doesn't mean you're gonna start. You can always figure out money.
You can figure out money with Kirk Cousins. There's gonna
be a lot of teams who are desperate for any
kind of bridge quarterback. Uh, so you can figure that
out with Cousins who wants to go someplace selsam play
Uh to move on. You can always figure out the money.
But man, before you get to that, I know, you
(36:58):
know he just won a game, but Bill one hundred
and twelve yards passing tonight, like you need some kind
of spark the last three games you can win out
and make the playoffs. And really, you really don't want
to put Michael Pennick Junior in. You really don't want
to put him in at this point. At this point,
Kirk Cousins knows he's gone. Everybody knows he's not gonna
be the quarterback next year. So if you can still
save this season, or are you gonna say, you know what, No,
(37:21):
we're just gonna keep him out there and we're gonna
suck on offense the last couple of weeks and we're
gonna lose and say, okay, now we're going to Michael
Pennick Junior.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
Yeah, it's the difficulty of it because the schedule certainly
is there for you. We chronicled it a little bit earlier.
You've got games at home against the Giants and Panthers,
with the divisional battle against the Commanders also, you know,
looking for their playoff lives sandwiched in between, and you
(37:50):
haven't had any offensive.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
Spark these last few weeks.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
You scored twenty one in the lost in Minnesota forty
two to twenty one in the final getting there, hadn't
scored more than more than twenty points in a game
since their game against Dallas where they eked out that
twenty seven to twenty one win. So you're looking at
an offense that's sputtering whatever's going on communication with he
(38:17):
and the center. You saw a couple of odd.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
Exchanges during this game, and also not able to move
latterly at all.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Right now he's a sitting duck when he's got to
be in a moving pocket. Fortunately, they're getting good returns
from Bijon Robinson still strong. You still have Algier there,
so you can rely on the run game to a degree,
and the takeaways have been there. You saw that tonight
one of the things. You know from the Raiders, you're
going to get some gifts and that's certainly something for
(38:48):
what's left on the schedule is that you're going to
have your opportunities defensively. But yeah, you need to spark
if you're thinking you're going to do any substantive winning.
I don't know what Arthur Blat and company Raheem Morris,
did they feel beholden to Kirk Cousins because he came there. No,
he got a giant bag. He's doing just fine. So
(39:10):
we've talked about it going on a month. With what
we've watched on the field and the number of balls
that have been put up for grabs from Kirk Cousins,
you gotta go find a spark. You got too many
playmakers to be this inept on offense.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
Yeah, Like, if you put Kirk Cousins out there, it's
just we're waiting for the inevitable. We're gonna lose and
get lilimited from the play.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
Right, He's gonna make another bad turnover in a big
spot like he is finished. And that doesn't mean Penis
is gonna come in and set the world out.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
But you get a new jolt of entity, and you
can always go back to Kirk Cousins if you need
to goa to go back. He's a professional. But you
need something these last year. I mean, you're really gonna
sit there and say, Okay, we'd rather have this, we'd
rather have the narrative play out in a neater way,
like you're really gonna choose that over Hey, we have
a chance to make the playoffs, and let's put a
guy in the reason why we draft him in the
top ten. Really, I know it's tough. You gotta make
(39:57):
the call, gotta have some guts. Exit out Boyta Fresca,
Exit swollen Dome. We'll have more in this game. Plus
what could be next for the Chiefs Without Patrick Mahomes.
This is fuck
