released this year. I don't think they try again. Yesterday, well,
Dan Campbell basically walked in said here's the damn schedule

and walked out. Is thirty seconds long. And then yesterday,
and that was one of the more pathetic efforts I've
ever seen. They were so bad they put me to sleep.
It was awful, man, it was awful. And now, coming
off the Cavs huge seven game series win, right, James
Harden played terribly, but it's still yeah, one turnover, okay,
how many points are the It doesn't matter how many

points he had. He's in the top ten all time
for playoffs scoring, and you're trying to tenne great and
deride his whole career. You're gonna tell you what I
said Friday, which is what I said Princess Wednesday. No,
because all I'm thinking is, here's the thing is, people

on the radio, because sometimes it happens, and I can
tell when someone knows what I do. When they they
don't want to admit that they knew. Like, and he's
talking to me real aggressive about the Pistons. I'm going, hey,
I picked you, but you guys, you guys are playing awful.
What are you talking about? Kate Cunningham is playing Greg.
Kate Cunningham is shooting six for twenty every game. I go, well,

he goes, what when you play? When you play us,
you play us? Nick? I go, you have to win

this is what it must be like talking to me
as a Knicks fan because I'm like, no, you have

playing the if the if the Celtics were good enough,

they have made it out of the first round, if
the if the Pistons were good enough, they'd made it
to the conference finals. But they're not. Okay, So just
understand that this is the level that they're playing at.
And I fully I know they've been awfu while, but
they should win tomorrow. By twenty five, this should be
an exhausted Cavaliers team coming in James Harden. All he's
got this entire series is to foul bait like that's
all he's gonna have against the Knicks defense. And hopefully

it's Josh Hart that draws that assignment, because I know
he's not gonna get drawn in now.

Five and a half to go in the third quarter,

Game one of the Junior Game one of the Western
Conference Finals. The Spurs lead the Thunder sixty four to sixty. Uh.
Thunder had a big lead in the first half. Oklahoma
City had tied it. Now the Spurs are up by four.
It's been a big game so far from Wemby with
sixteen and eleven rebounds. SGA has seven points in twenty

five minutes. This has been a Jalen Williams and Alex
Caruso game, Caruso leading the way with sixteen off the bench,
also drawing the primary assignment on Wemby a few times
down the court. Now it's clear what they're trying to
do is, Hey, we're gonna try to give Wemby a
bunch of different looks. Don't let him settle into the game.
But you're only gonna be able to do so much.
The big thing about this game, which I still think

is a shocker, and this is a much bigger story
than that we're gonna keep getting into. D Aaron Fox
does not play this game with a sprained ankle. He
has ruled out about an hour before tip off, and
D Aaron Fox is terrific, right, And this is the
pace of this game. This is where things are gonna
start changing and going the thunder way as you get look,
because this is a guy who's you know, you're taking

thirty five minutes away from a guy who's gonna be
the primary ball handler. And this pace, I don't know,
as deep as the spurs are, how you make up
for that. So I fully expect this game to slowly
start turning towards the thunder But the fact that he
gets ruled out an hour before the game with a
sprained ankle. Now, he sprained his ankle in game four, right,
but played in game five, played in game six, They've

had a few days off, and here he is an
out before the game. Couldn't get loose, couldn't play You
know me? Because I'm always suspicious there is something we're
not being told about this, because this doesn't make sense
that you play in game four, that you sprain your ankle,
off day, you play in game five, off day, you
play against an off day, off day, off day, and
now you can't play. Like, there's something we're not being

told about about this. And I don't mean it's something
where I'm not getting to a point where oh, hey
there's cal she's involved. No, I mean there's something drop
this injury, about something that may have happened in between
these times, because it makes no sense that he gets
injured in game four and he plays five and six,
and now three days later he can't play. There's something
we're not being told. Yeah, I thought you were gonna go,

Jeff Kent' Clint barmeus going. Folks can look those up
falling off trucks or a bunch of meat, got a
bunch of meat on it and slipped and that right
dropped the gear meat on my foot. Yeah, so you
got a bunch of random injuries. But yeah, potentially right
during a workout had an issue. We always await the

extra level, but what what have we had? The consistent
piece b in the NBA playoffs, one home court advantage
doesn't mean a damn thing. But two, the injury reports
are nonsense. This guy may come back, Eh, there he
is the next day. Yeah, there open for for this game.
All right, well there it's accelerated. Well not really, that

was all a lie. And then exit interviews suddenly they're
giving you the details of the injury. Luka, Doncic just
go on down the line. So for this to just say, okay,
he couldn't get loose, do we take it at the face?
I doubt there's something where there's something we don't know.
I mean, the players get injured and are ruled out
of playoff games, not just because there's the stress of

injuries that that we we get where hey, it's a
long season. You get to the first round of the
playoffs and and a dinged up ankle suddenly turns into
something for a whole series. Right that that's one part
of it. But there's another part in the playoffs where
all of a sudden, how many times are we taken
by surprise by hearing what do you mean this guy's out?
What do you mean he's out? Wait? Paula Bonkaro's out,
Wait he's out? To Jason Tatum when he was ruled

out for the Celtics in the earlier rounds. He's supposed
to be and then all of a sudden, bam, he's out,
and which gets into all those conspiracy theories when you
talk about the projection and betting markets and everything else.
But certainly in this case he sits out. Right, Jalen
Williams is back. Could he maybe have come back last
series if needed, maybe, but it was all no, no, no,

it's trending well. He should in theory be back for
Game one. And then as you mentioned, he and Alex Caruso,
they were the first two to really make a dand
Caruso scored their first seven points. They're doing different things defensively,
and Williams is moving around very well and helping to
orchestrate the offense while they try to uncork whatever they
can from SGA as it goes on. But yeah, the

injury reports, we always said it in the NFL, and
now it's extended to pretty much every other sport. It's like,
I take it with a grain assault and we'll see, right.
We were talking with Steve Desager before the show the
updates coming out of the Dodgers as related to Blake
Snell and the loose bodies and what the procedure will
be for him to go get this looked at like

there's a lot of questions you have as to how
they describe this. But what does it mean that he's
throwing in a month, two months, or whatever the case
may be, until a guy comes back. It's all theory,
but in this case, for dearon Fox, yeah, I'd like
a little more explanation here, a little more transparency, if

point line. And I'll go back to what we talked
about about a week or so ago, where you know,
you look back at the Lakers they win the title
in twenty twenty and they make a bunch of different
moves and it doesn't work out. We talked about this
a little bit with Marcus Smart being able to sign
a veteran, older veteran that that can that can really
be a difference maker. Like I really, I don't know

that the Lakers are over losing Alex Caruso. Caruso since
he's I mean, since he's come to Oklahoma City turned
into an all defensive player in the NBA, still a
guy that can score fifteen off the bench. He fills
so many holes. And these are guys that are so
incredibly valuable, But you think, well, how much can we
spend on a guy like this? Where are you at?
But a team like Oklahoma City where you don't have
(12:18):
to rely on him to play thirty five minutes tonight
because a worst team is gonna say, hey, Caruso's good enough,
He's gonna start for us. And now you know, hey,
guess what, Maybe his effectiveness goes down. He's got to
play more minutes. But when you can come off the
bench and get the matchups you want, he looks like
an All Star. You know where he is every time
he is on the floor. He is hitting big shots offensively.
You see that happen with TJ. McConnell once in a
(12:39):
while in the playoffs, but Caruso has been the gold
standard of Hey, here's a team that is rich enough
to have him come off the bench and he and
because of the matchups and be the way they can
deploy him. He looks like an All Star when he's
on the floor. Well, he spent those couple of years
in the third rank of hell, also known as playing
for the Chicago Bulls, before becoming a member of a

much better, more robust organization and top down strategy consistency
both in the evaluation of talent in the draft and
how they operate free agency and of course work their rotations.
So it brings out the best of him. And it's
always the question, if he'd stayed in Los Angeles, is

he this player? I don't know, he might he was
a fan favorite. Yeah, Like that's what he would have
been come down as, because he wouldn't have been in
the same role. He would have had to have been
one of the key contributors. He would have been this guy.
He would have been this guy coming off the bench
and being able to because the Lakers would have never
had the group around him to where he could be

that guy. He would have been forced into a primary
role in those Lakers squads the last Yeah but now,
but now, if you go Belka, go back to the
last two years with Luca, it would have been a
different story. Okay, Well, now here's a different situation. Luca
is in the backcourt starting now. Austin reeves the ascension
of him member he was coming off the bench that
he'd be starting so would be no. I mean, he
wouldn't be the last couple of years. He'd be coming

off the bench in this kind of run, and he
might have been the guy sent with any value to Dallas.
Joke Luca here. I mean, man, it's insane when you
think about that. The Lakers may not be over losing
Alex Caruso. It's just crazy. I mean, he's been lamenting

his loss all these years. I think there's a picture

He was really mad. You can tell that this is

this tale, as years go on, it'll become a thirty

five footer. Yeah right, because I think Steph Curry gets
three feet added on because he's short and has to
heave it as he's kind of reaching over. Yeah, so
I think I think a couple of years it's gonna
be more. Remember when Wemby had that when he was
under his own basket and he chucked it all the way.

But if they can do that too, damn, you're screwed.
But look I got something for you right now for
wembya top that you see this logo three that ties
the game, that sends it to double over time. And

it's fortunate enough in sports when we get to see
the greatest, if not the greatest player of all time play, right,
if it happens to fall in the time when you're alive,
you get to see it. We're seeing it right now
with shoe Hee Otani and Major League baseball, best baseball
player any of us have ever seen. No one could
pitch hit like him. What he's doing rewriting the record

book every single day. No one's like this. He's the
best player any of us have ever seen. And you
can argue that he's the best player we have ever seen.
It's almost time, and right now it is time to
look at Wemby the same way that he's a one
of one. Right man. Wemby's still young enough in his career.
He has not done as much yet to say, oh,
it's he the greatest basketball player. Now we got the

Jordan Lebron, Bill Russell, all this, but it's time to
treat Wemby like he is Otani. He is one of one.
What we're seeing that he can do. I mean, you
see a center, You got a guy seven to five
who's saying, give me the ball. I'm taking a heat
check three from thirty feet out. Nobody else can do that,
man Like, It's one thing to see Lillard do Okay,
Lillar doing it, that's great, Okay, well sgay to see

Wenby do something like that, it's time to understand he
is that one of one. He is not just boy.
Look at what you what you do and and your
jaw drops you can see there every time he does
something on the floor, it just you shake your head
and go, I've never seen anything like that before in
my life. He is one of one like Otani. Now,
obviously we haven't seen any of the the footage or

we've got very sparse footage when we go back to
the days of will To and Russell and some of
their battles and all of that going going back fifty years.
But you watch this and it's how he affects things
on both ends of the court, and we go back
some of that a chem Elijuan, but not with the
same distance. Right, It wasn't stepping out for three point shots,

but you know, was a very good shooting center while
still being a dominant defensive player. You remember that from
the ninety four finals, Yeah, and then gone down the
way in so many through the years. You know, Shaq
couldn't hit a free throw, certainly had no jump shot.
But you talk about the disruptive and destructive force that

of the court. I don't want to be victim to hyperbole,
but it's awful, hard because we watched that three pointer
and none of what we said off air would have
been usable we had both of us had to be bleeped.
It's like, because right away you're you're in the stand

the announcer as he did the we we almost like,
all right, is he trying to cover himself up from
saying what he really wants to. And that's the thing
is that we've seen Wemby make amazing plays, right. We've
seen but at being seven five, maybe he's taller now,
maybe he's seven nine, maybe he's eight feet tall. We've
seen him make big plays defensively. We've seen him hit
step back in hit threes, We've seen him make big

plays down low. We've seen him do all of these
things right, and it's a wonder to see it. But
that a specifically, I'm stopping and I'm tape taking a
big heat check three that because I'm mad, and give
me the ball from here. A seven five center hits
a shot like that, That's the moment. I think that's

the one for even the most staunchest of believers that Okay,
Wenby's just a big guy, even the most staunchest of
non believers have to say, we are seeing something that
Jannis was never able to do, as good as as
the seven footers, as talented as they've ever been in
their career, as dominant to Shaquille O'Neil was, We've never
seen anything like this, and that three, that's the such

a big headshake moment where you have to just admit
to yourself, this is greatness, unlike what I've seen. Unlike
what I've seen, this is great Yeah, because you got
to celebrate the greatness of what Jokich has been, clearly
not the same defender, but offensively doing a lot of
crazy ass stuff with that body type and from once

he came right, he was not the chosen one. He
was the guy drafted during a Taco bell ad the
second second round of the draft, okay, Whereas Wemby has
been the chosen one for a while, and then it
becomes the old let's pray to the basketball gods that
we get to see this come to fruition and that
he's healthy. And I would argue the three was something

the couple the sequence he's had the last couple times
down even better, right, a driving dunk and then on
the ensuing possession from ok see, he gets a rebound,
looks around and instead of finding Castle, finding anybody else
to bring the ball up, just says, the hell with it,
I'll do it myself, drives into the lane to where
he's ultimately filed and put to the line again. So

just an insane sequence. You know. The thing is that
possession you talked about with Wemby. He makes the three
the next time down, gets the ball behind the arc,
goes up like he's gonna shoot the three, and of
course the defender's got to close on him because you know,
the dude just made one from thirty feet out and
you know Wemby two steps that's a dunk. He takes

one dribble, two steps and he's in for an easy dunk.
Like this is not even like what It's an easy
dunk for Wemby, and it's and and it's it's any
anything the guy can do, he does. And again, because
it's weird because he's one, he's one of one. Is
what this looks like right now to me? And again
I'm prisoner of them, firmly, I'm prison of the moment

right now with Wemby in this game, it's one twelve
to one oh eight with two and a half to go.
You know in double over right against is that when
Michael first ascended to winning championships, right, Nobody thought that
Jordan was going to become the player and the absolute winner.
That he was six or six in the NBA finals,

interrupted only by his retirement, and he was for his
first few years in the league. He was an incredible scorer,
but he got sent home in the playoffs because the
team around him wasn't great and he was maybe a
better version of Dominique Wilkins. Right, this guy can score
a ton of points. He's got sixty point games. But
in the end, yeah, he's a one man show. But
look at the teams around him, right, the Pistons are

going to beat him. The other teams in the East,
the Celtics are going to beat him. He's a one
man show. And then he finally gets to the to
the finals and it's the Lakers, and you're like, Okay,
this is where the Lakers are gonna show him whose boss, right,
this is where this is where we understand. Okay, it's
great they finally beat the Pistons, right, because the Pistons
beat him the year before then they beat the Pistons,
(24:26):
get to that's great, but this is still showtime Lakers,
and the Lakers get a championship. Yeah, Jordan has been great,
but this and what happens, it's got to be the Shoes.
It's the Bulls and five and that starts the the
Michael Jordan era in the NBA. And I almost feel
like this is kind of a minor version of it,
where yeah, Wemby's great, Webby's great, but here are the champs,

here's the thunder SGA now newly minted at least by
shams back to back MVP. This is the best team
in the NBA this year, and you're seeing this game
with Wemby where it is becoming okay, now it's really
Wemby's world and SGA has now been a supporting player
in this drama most of the game here, and it's
just it's it's the it's the game where people are

gonna remember this is where Wemby became that guy, whether
you thought he was the best, coming in where you
thought he was becoming the best, Like this feels like
that kind of moment for Wenby. Well, he's still pissed
he didn't win the MVP twenty four hours ago on
Prime So given the opportunity in front of a large
NBC and Peacock audience, said my turn and once after.

You know what's funny is you mentioned the Bulls beating
the Lakers all these years later. You know what, it's
always well, he ran over some old Lakers team. Yeah,
Johnson had just thrown thirty two? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
what's not the old Lakers? All right, Kareem Camp was
a little older. Yeah, but these guys weren't exactly you know,
they were going into that series like this was gonna

be the Lakers. We're gonna And I still vividly remember
the commercial after it ended, you know, the shoes, the shoes,
the air Jordan commercials and Diane Cannon who was she
and Jack Nicholson were the biggest Laker fans, like on
TV all the time. Dan kind of was. And I
remember the last shot of the commercial with all these
shots in the NBA Finals and it's Diane Cannon just
sitting in the stands where a Laker pomp pom's going.

They had to be the shoes. Like that was the
end of it. That was the birth, the real birth
of the Jordan era in the NBA was now he's
not just a regular season guy that's going to give
us these these headlines and these great performances. Now whoa,
Now he just won the title, and now it's what
can't he accomplish? Right? We still thought we could put
him in the box a little bit where, yeah, he's Jordan,

but we've seen these great teams, great teams beat Bay,
great players. No, no, not anymore, and Jordan was able
to you know, that was the first of three in
a row for the for the Bulls winning it. And
I kind of again, I kind of feel like this
ascension of the Spurs like has gone so fast this
year because you remember, I don't want to you know,
I don't like to remind people this too much because
you know, but I did pick the Spurs and go

to the NBA finals. Before the season started, I said,
Wenby's gonna become the best play in the league. It's
gonna happen this year, don't be surprised. And all of
a sudden, this Spurs getting great. They were really good
all year, but then that last month when you know,
basically the thunders on cruise control. The Spurs showed you
we're hitting that next level. We are deep. We have
the players already around Wemby right like Dylan Harper starting
(27:19):
tonight for dearon Fox. And despite the turnovers in the backcourt,
which is really what's keeping the Thunder in this game,
their support players have played extremely well and Wemby now
is the cherry on top of the sun. Yeah, you've
got six guys in double figures, Johnson off the bench,
the sixth man of the year, giving him some lift
as well. But everything you said about Wembin Yama, it's
(27:40):
just been absurd to watch this evolution. I mean, the
way the Spurs have built their roster. It's so good
that they're changing the rules to the tanking and the
draft process and what you can do in terms of
top fives and everything else. So it'll be a fun battle.
This is just game one here in double ot Uh
that we've been treated to you thus far. You had

an flagrant called on Shay Gildess Alexander to extend it
to a four point lead, and now trying to fight
back here with about a minute twenty left. This is
a classic game. Jalen Williams has just hit a three.

The Steelers officially resigned quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He practiced today
as their OTA offseason workouts began, and we can update
that no hit bid for the A's. The game has
gone to the ninth inning and the Angels are zero

The game is scoreless Anaheim with the Athletics and the Angels. Meanwhile,
pitchers duel in San Diego, Padres homeward in the first
and they're up one nothing top of the eighth against
the Dodgers. A Padre win would put them in first

that Wemby can't do. The superlatives keep going. A one

have left after losing a game like this, with this
kind of performance from Victor wembin Yama an unreal night
and unbelievable game, superlatives, numbers, stats can't wait to continue

incentives of the IST were bigger just bringing a championship

But it's also a squad, as we've talked about a

it just tonight just felt different. This game just felt different.
Nationally televised game, a rivalry that could run the Western
Conference for the next ten years, and Wemby having this.
If you have any doubt I'm the best player in
the game, doubts they're gone now with this game that

I had, whether it's making the defensive plays underneath, making
the threes, dunks like he looks absolutely unstoppable, and it's
happened so fast, sky NEETs become self aware so incredibly fast.
But that logo three is what it changes everything. It's Okay,

what James Cameron continues to do right every X series. Now,

I'm not the biggest fan of the whole Avatar world.

off the Cavs huge seven game series win, right, James
Harden played terribly, but it's still yeah, one turnover, okay,
how many points are the It doesn't matter how many

points he had. He's in the top ten all time
for playoffs scoring, and you're trying to tenne great and
deride his whole career. You're gonna tell you what I
said Friday, which is what I said Princess Wednesday. No,
because all I'm thinking is, here's the thing is, people
the last few days have just been talking to me
about stuff, right, And it's like my wife. My wife

used to say to me, you know what sent me? No,

talking to me real aggressive about the Pistons. I'm going, hey,

Kate Cunningham is shooting six for twenty every game. I go, well,

he goes, what when you play? When you play us,
you play us? Nick? I go, you have to win

as a Knicks fan because I'm like, no, you have
to win one more game. I'm like, oh, now, I
see now, Now I see where people get in times. Okay,

the Knicks are playing at your own peril. I mean,
that's that's all I'm saying. Under it, It's like everybody
wants to have excuses. Well, they're playing this. They were
playing the if the if the Celtics were good enough,

they have made it out of the first round, if
the if the Pistons were good enough, they'd made it
to the conference finals. But they're not. Okay, So just
understand that this is the level that they're playing at.
And I fully I know they've been awfu while, but
they should win tomorrow. By twenty five, this should be
an exhausted Cavaliers team coming in James Harden. All he's
got this entire series is to foul bait like that's
all he's gonna have against the Knicks defense. And hopefully

it's Josh Hart that draws that assignment, because I know
he's not gonna get drawn in now.

Five and a half to go in the third quarter,

Game one of the Junior Game one of the Western
Conference Finals. The Spurs lead the Thunder sixty four to sixty. Uh.
Thunder had a big lead in the first half. Oklahoma
City had tied it. Now the Spurs are up by four.
It's been a big game so far from Wemby with
sixteen and eleven rebounds. SGA has seven points in twenty
(06:34):
five minutes. This has been a Jalen Williams and Alex
Caruso game, Caruso leading the way with sixteen off the bench,
also drawing the primary assignment on Wemby a few times
down the court. Now it's clear what they're trying to
do is, Hey, we're gonna try to give Wemby a
bunch of different looks. Don't let him settle into the game.
But you're only gonna be able to do so much.
The big thing about this game, which I still think
(06:56):
is a shocker, and this is a much bigger story
than that we're gonna keep getting into. D Aaron Fox
does not play this game with a sprained ankle. He
has ruled out about an hour before tip off, and
D Aaron Fox is terrific, right, And this is the
pace of this game. This is where things are gonna
start changing and going the thunder way as you get look,
because this is a guy who's you know, you're taking
(07:17):
thirty five minutes away from a guy who's gonna be
the primary ball handler. And this pace, I don't know,
as deep as the spurs are, how you make up
for that. So I fully expect this game to slowly
start turning towards the thunder But the fact that he
gets ruled out an hour before the game with a
sprained ankle. Now, he sprained his ankle in game four, right,
but played in game five, played in game six, They've
(07:38):
had a few days off, and here he is an
out before the game. Couldn't get loose, couldn't play You
know me? Because I'm always suspicious there is something we're
not being told about this, because this doesn't make sense
that you play in game four, that you sprain your ankle,
off day, you play in game five, off day, you
play against an off day, off day, off day, and
now you can't play. Like, there's something we're not being
(07:59):
told about about this. And I don't mean it's something
where I'm not getting to a point where oh, hey
there's cal she's involved. No, I mean there's something drop
this injury, about something that may have happened in between
these times, because it makes no sense that he gets
injured in game four and he plays five and six,
and now three days later he can't play. There's something
we're not being told. Yeah, I thought you were gonna go,
(08:20):
Jeff Kent' Clint barmeus going. Folks can look those up
falling off trucks or a bunch of meat, got a
bunch of meat on it and slipped and that right
dropped the gear meat on my foot. Yeah, so you
got a bunch of random injuries. But yeah, potentially right
during a workout had an issue. We always await the
(08:43):
extra level, but what what have we had? The consistent
piece b in the NBA playoffs, one home court advantage
doesn't mean a damn thing. But two, the injury reports
are nonsense. This guy may come back, Eh, there he
is the next day. Yeah, there open for for this game.
All right, well there it's accelerated. Well not really, that
(09:04):
was all a lie. And then exit interviews suddenly they're
giving you the details of the injury. Luka, Doncic just
go on down the line. So for this to just say, okay,
he couldn't get loose, do we take it at the face?
I doubt there's something where there's something we don't know.
I mean, the players get injured and are ruled out
of playoff games, not just because there's the stress of
(09:25):
injuries that that we we get where hey, it's a
long season. You get to the first round of the
playoffs and and a dinged up ankle suddenly turns into
something for a whole series. Right that that's one part
of it. But there's another part in the playoffs where
all of a sudden, how many times are we taken
by surprise by hearing what do you mean this guy's out?
What do you mean he's out? Wait? Paula Bonkaro's out,
Wait he's out? To Jason Tatum when he was ruled
(09:46):
out for the Celtics in the earlier rounds. He's supposed
to be and then all of a sudden, bam, he's out,
and which gets into all those conspiracy theories when you
talk about the projection and betting markets and everything else.
But certainly in this case he sits out. Right, Jalen
Williams is back. Could he maybe have come back last
series if needed, maybe, but it was all no, no, no,
(10:10):
it's trending well. He should in theory be back for
Game one. And then as you mentioned, he and Alex Caruso,
they were the first two to really make a dand
Caruso scored their first seven points. They're doing different things defensively,
and Williams is moving around very well and helping to
orchestrate the offense while they try to uncork whatever they
can from SGA as it goes on. But yeah, the
(10:31):
injury reports, we always said it in the NFL, and
now it's extended to pretty much every other sport. It's like,
I take it with a grain assault and we'll see, right.
We were talking with Steve Desager before the show the
updates coming out of the Dodgers as related to Blake
Snell and the loose bodies and what the procedure will
be for him to go get this looked at like

there's a lot of questions you have as to how
they describe this. But what does it mean that he's
throwing in a month, two months, or whatever the case
may be, until a guy comes back. It's all theory,
but in this case, for dearon Fox, yeah, I'd like
a little more explanation here, a little more transparency, if
you will. Now, as the game again, four forty four
to go in the third quarter, sixty six sixty three,

Spurs the lead over the Thunder, we said it is
the Alex Caruso game. And for really the first time
since he was a Laker, when Alex Caruso, Why is
Alex Caruso the number one trending topic on Twitter every night?
Why is he trend more than Lebron? Why is he
tread more than a d This is the Caruso game again.
Sixteen points for Caruso, four for seven behind the three

point line. And I'll go back to what we talked
about about a week or so ago, where you know,
you look back at the Lakers they win the title
in twenty twenty and they make a bunch of different
moves and it doesn't work out. We talked about this
a little bit with Marcus Smart being able to sign
a veteran, older veteran that that can that can really
be a difference maker. Like I really, I don't know
(11:56):
that the Lakers are over losing Alex Caruso. Caruso since
he's I mean, since he's come to Oklahoma City turned
into an all defensive player in the NBA, still a
guy that can score fifteen off the bench. He fills
so many holes. And these are guys that are so
incredibly valuable, But you think, well, how much can we
spend on a guy like this? Where are you at?
But a team like Oklahoma City where you don't have

to rely on him to play thirty five minutes tonight
because a worst team is gonna say, hey, Caruso's good enough,
He's gonna start for us. And now you know, hey,
guess what, Maybe his effectiveness goes down. He's got to
play more minutes. But when you can come off the
bench and get the matchups you want, he looks like
an All Star. You know where he is every time
he is on the floor. He is hitting big shots offensively.
You see that happen with TJ. McConnell once in a

while in the playoffs, but Caruso has been the gold
standard of Hey, here's a team that is rich enough
to have him come off the bench and he and
because of the matchups and be the way they can
deploy him. He looks like an All Star when he's

for the Chicago Bulls, before becoming a member of a

much better, more robust organization and top down strategy consistency
both in the evaluation of talent in the draft and

always the question, if he'd stayed in Los Angeles, is

he this player? I don't know, he might he was
a fan favorite. Yeah, Like that's what he would have
been come down as, because he wouldn't have been in
the same role. He would have had to have been
one of the key contributors. He would have been this guy.
He would have been this guy coming off the bench
and being able to because the Lakers would have never
had the group around him to where he could be

that guy. He would have been forced into a primary
role in those Lakers squads the last Yeah but now,
but now, if you go Belka, go back to the
last two years with Luca, it would have been a
different story. Okay, Well, now here's a different situation. Luca
is in the backcourt starting now. Austin reeves the ascension
of him member he was coming off the bench that
he'd be starting so would be no. I mean, he
wouldn't be the last couple of years. He'd be coming

off the bench in this kind of run, and he
might have been the guy sent with any value to Dallas.

best player any of us have ever seen. And you
can argue that he's the best player we have ever seen.
It's almost time, and right now it is time to
look at Wemby the same way that he's a one
of one. Right man. Wemby's still young enough in his career.
He has not done as much yet to say, oh,
it's he the greatest basketball player. Now we got the

Jordan Lebron, Bill Russell, all this, but it's time to
treat Wemby like he is Otani. He is one of one.
What we're seeing that he can do. I mean, you
see a center, You got a guy seven to five
who's saying, give me the ball. I'm taking a heat
check three from thirty feet out. Nobody else can do that,
man Like, It's one thing to see Lillard do Okay,
Lillar doing it, that's great, Okay, well sgay to see

Wenby do something like that, it's time to understand he
is that one of one. He is not just boy.
Look at what you what you do and and your
jaw drops you can see there every time he does
something on the floor, it just you shake your head
and go, I've never seen anything like that before in
my life. He is one of one like Otani. Now,
obviously we haven't seen any of the the footage or

we've got very sparse footage when we go back to
the days of will To and Russell and some of
their battles and all of that going going back fifty years.
But you watch this and it's how he affects things
on both ends of the court, and we go back

same distance. Right, It wasn't stepping out for three point shots,

but you know, was a very good shooting center while
still being a dominant defensive player. You remember that from

of the court. I don't want to be victim to hyperbole,
but it's awful, hard because we watched that three pointer
and none of what we said off air would have

all right, is he trying to cover himself up from
saying what he really wants to. And that's the thing
is that we've seen Wemby make amazing plays, right. We've
seen but at being seven five, maybe he's taller now,

seen him make big plays defensively. We've seen him hit
step back in hit threes, We've seen him make big

plays down low. We've seen him do all of these
things right, and it's a wonder to see it. But
that a specifically, I'm stopping and I'm tape taking a
big heat check three that because I'm mad, and give
me the ball from here. A seven five center hits
a shot like that, That's the moment. I think that's

the one for even the most staunchest of believers that Okay,
Wenby's just a big guy, even the most staunchest of
non believers have to say, we are seeing something that
Jannis was never able to do, as good as as
the seven footers, as talented as they've ever been in
their career, as dominant to Shaquille O'Neil was, We've never
seen anything like this, and that three, that's the such

a big headshake moment where you have to just admit
to yourself, this is greatness, unlike what I've seen. Unlike
what I've seen, this is great Yeah, because you got
to celebrate the greatness of what Jokich has been, clearly
not the same defender, but offensively doing a lot of
crazy ass stuff with that body type and from once

he came right, he was not the chosen one. He
was the guy drafted during a Taco bell ad the
second second round of the draft, okay, Whereas Wemby has
been the chosen one for a while, and then it
becomes the old let's pray to the basketball gods that
we get to see this come to fruition and that
he's healthy. And I would argue the three was something

the couple the sequence he's had the last couple times
down even better, right, a driving dunk and then on
the ensuing possession from ok see, he gets a rebound,
looks around and instead of finding Castle, finding anybody else
to bring the ball up, just says, the hell with it,
I'll do it myself, drives into the lane to where
he's ultimately filed and put to the line again. So

just an insane sequence. You know. The thing is that
possession you talked about with Wemby. He makes the three
the next time down, gets the ball behind the arc,
goes up like he's gonna shoot the three, and of
course the defender's got to close on him because you know,
the dude just made one from thirty feet out and
you know Wemby two steps that's a dunk. He takes

one dribble, two steps and he's in for an easy dunk.
Like this is not even like what It's an easy
dunk for Wemby, and it's and and it's it's any
anything the guy can do, he does. And again, because
it's weird because he's one, he's one of one. Is
what this looks like right now to me? And again
I'm prisoner of them, firmly, I'm prison of the moment

right now with Wemby in this game, it's one twelve
to one oh eight with two and a half to go.
You know in double over right against is that when
Michael first ascended to winning championships, right, Nobody thought that
Jordan was going to become the player and the absolute winner.
That he was six or six in the NBA finals,

interrupted only by his retirement, and he was for his
first few years in the league. He was an incredible scorer,
but he got sent home in the playoffs because the
team around him wasn't great and he was maybe a
better version of Dominique Wilkins. Right, this guy can score
a ton of points. He's got sixty point games. But
in the end, yeah, he's a one man show. But
look at the teams around him, right, the Pistons are

going to beat him. The other teams in the East,
the Celtics are going to beat him. He's a one
man show. And then he finally gets to the to
the finals and it's the Lakers, and you're like, Okay,
this is where the Lakers are gonna show him whose boss, right,
this is where this is where we understand. Okay, it's
great they finally beat the Pistons, right, because the Pistons
beat him the year before then they beat the Pistons,

get to that's great, but this is still showtime Lakers,
and the Lakers get a championship. Yeah, Jordan has been great,
but this and what happens, it's got to be the Shoes.
It's the Bulls and five and that starts the the
Michael Jordan era in the NBA. And I almost feel
like this is kind of a minor version of it,
where yeah, Wemby's great, Webby's great, but here are the champs,

here's the thunder SGA now newly minted at least by
shams back to back MVP. This is the best team
in the NBA this year, and you're seeing this game
with Wemby where it is becoming okay, now it's really
Wemby's world and SGA has now been a supporting player
in this drama most of the game here, and it's
just it's it's the it's the game where people are

gonna remember this is where Wemby became that guy, whether
you thought he was the best, coming in where you
thought he was becoming the best, Like this feels like
that kind of moment for Wenby. Well, he's still pissed
he didn't win the MVP twenty four hours ago on
Prime So given the opportunity in front of a large
NBC and Peacock audience, said my turn and once after.

You know what's funny is you mentioned the Bulls beating
the Lakers all these years later. You know what, it's
always well, he ran over some old Lakers team. Yeah,
Johnson had just thrown thirty two? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
what's not the old Lakers? All right, Kareem Camp was
a little older. Yeah, but these guys weren't exactly you know,
they were going into that series like this was gonna

be the Lakers. We're gonna And I still vividly remember
the commercial after it ended, you know, the shoes, the shoes,
the air Jordan commercials and Diane Cannon who was she
and Jack Nicholson were the biggest Laker fans, like on
TV all the time. Dan kind of was. And I
remember the last shot of the commercial with all these
shots in the NBA Finals and it's Diane Cannon just
sitting in the stands where a Laker pomp pom's going.

They had to be the shoes. Like that was the
end of it. That was the birth, the real birth
of the Jordan era in the NBA was now he's
not just a regular season guy that's going to give
us these these headlines and these great performances. Now whoa,
Now he just won the title, and now it's what
can't he accomplish? Right? We still thought we could put
him in the box a little bit where, yeah, he's Jordan,

but we've seen these great teams, great teams beat Bay,
great players. No, no, not anymore, and Jordan was able
to you know, that was the first of three in
a row for the for the Bulls winning it. And
I kind of again, I kind of feel like this
ascension of the Spurs like has gone so fast this
year because you remember, I don't want to you know,
I don't like to remind people this too much because
you know, but I did pick the Spurs and go

to the NBA finals. Before the season started, I said,
Wenby's gonna become the best play in the league. It's
gonna happen this year, don't be surprised. And all of
a sudden, this Spurs getting great. They were really good
all year, but then that last month when you know,
basically the thunders on cruise control. The Spurs showed you
we're hitting that next level. We are deep. We have
the players already around Wemby right like Dylan Harper starting

tonight for dearon Fox. And despite the turnovers in the backcourt,
which is really what's keeping the Thunder in this game,
their support players have played extremely well and Wemby now
is the cherry on top of the sun. Yeah, you've
got six guys in double figures, Johnson off the bench,
the sixth man of the year, giving him some lift
as well. But everything you said about Wembin Yama, it's

just been absurd to watch this evolution. I mean, the
way the Spurs have built their roster. It's so good
that they're changing the rules to the tanking and the
draft process and what you can do in terms of
top fives and everything else. So it'll be a fun battle.

If you have any doubt I'm the best player in

I had, whether it's making the defensive plays underneath, making
the threes, dunks like he looks absolutely unstoppable, and it's

what James Cameron continues to do right every X series. Now,

I'm not the biggest fan of the whole Avatar world.
It's all fine and good, but it looks cool. Theoretically,

That's what we're trying to get cheap. But for me,
like you're loving the three point thing, for me, it

was just he was pissed for the rest of the game,
so it's like, fine, I'll do it myself and driving
to the lane and just win loser, draw offensive, defensive.
It was gonna be on his shoulders. Yeah, I mean,
look what we saw Wemby do tonight is unlike what
we've seen someone ever do in a playoff game, and

it has to do with his skill set, with his size. Again,
