It was a two days week. Yeah, that was that

Is that I can make a lot of money as
an advisor, right, as an advisor or a consultant, uh,
going in and helping big corporations streamline their website. So
it's something that actually resembles something human where I can say,

you know what this web how do you expect anybody
to follow anything on this website? How can you you
need to do this, this, this, and this, and it'll
be much easier for people to navigate the website when
there's email involved, when there's messages involved, when there's messaging
involved with like, you need to make sure that this
is not the most complicated thing in the world. And
yet how many companies, whether it's a uh you know

where you work, or if it's a medical company or
something else where you just say, I can't even follow
anything on this website. I can't follow anything on this.
You need to make this much much better, Like this
is just an awful site right now.

Now, I get that there are there are a lot
of people out there that get paid to do that
you need. You'd be entering a crowded involvement.

Clearly, I clearly it's a it's it's an environment that
needs it needs new blood. Like national team you need
new players, you need somebody else come in there. But
because I could come through so many different websites and
companies that need out that don't have it yet.

But the point is you have to convince someone that
it's worth the human money is to spend to fix.

I can tell you, man, there's things I could just
just give me five minutes on a website. I'll tell
you this needs to go. This needs to go, This

thousand dollars. I just did it for you. There you go,

I won spent months doing a project at Yahoo, and
then they hired consultants that basically said, hey, what these
guys said was great, give us a.

because Yahoo they have mail, they have news, have everything,

went through how many changes at ESPN dot com. We're

they realize, oh, big story in the middle, other stories
on the side, or other stories right under the big
picture in the middle. That works right, Like Yahoo, all
the stories just in a row. Just scroll till you
want to stop scrolling. We're gonna have the content there.

want to go. Just go all the way through. Like
certain companies they do great. The Disney website worst website.
Yeah no, that's not good. Had had to work for it.

By the way, do you have one of the ESPN
flip phones. I think somewhere I still have it because
if if you have the complete set in the box
okay opened open, yeah, yeah yeah, it's still over one
hundred bucks. Really yeah, if it's sealed, it's worth several

And I really thought that phone would would would really
take off the espnad right, but then it got to Okay,
so when the ESPN film pay you that no, no, no,
I really thought it was. I really thought it was
going to but because I said, okay, here's something that
it alerts you every time there's a score in your game, right,
I'm like.

Okay, but now my other phone won't. Now now just
to yeah, why do you have this burner phone? It
alerts me when the Mets give up sixteen runs. It
hasn't it's been beat big all night as It's more
like it alerts you when the Mets a run. I
haven't gotten a beep in three hours. We're losing this game.
But like you would set that phone when the ESPN
phone came out, like it was a first the first

you know, hey, big sport. Before I realize, oh, you
can get on the internet whatever, you want. You would
set it and say it'll give you an alert every
half inning or when a run is scored. I'm like, oh,
that sounds so awesome, right, that sounded and again this
is like two thousand and five. It sounded so awesome,
like when that was the case.

Oh, and a great idea to grant Grandpa if that
if that came out now, people would throw their phones
in a ditch after the third time they got alerted.
I got another alert, I got another alert. I got
We don't want to get we don't like alerts. Now
we get text messages. I gotta check my phone again.

the time, but checking for peske text messages can be

a pain in the ass sometimes. Can you imagine get
getting in a two and a half hour span, getting
let's say eighteen and then probably ten or twelve, getting
thirty alerts to check what the score your game is? Again,
you would want to throw your phone out the window
in the first forty minutes. I can't do it. I

can't do this. How do I shut these alerts off?
When I want to check the score. I'll check the score.
You know, if you could have found a way for
the alert to just be no runs, no hits, one
er or nothing across to the Mets, top of the
second inning, Mets and Cardinals, right, I mean better off
that way anything else, And if you if you had
a voice that could tell you what it was. I
think maybe with Ai we can work on that. Oh,

Pierce Brosan's gonna be my voice. Uh okay, great, But
but just the buzz when it would go, especially I'm
trying to take a nap or something. Oh man, I
can't have this phone. I can have this phone. Get

Biggest NBA story the last couple of weeks, well outside

of the next winning the title and oh my god,
has been the daily soap opera of Caitlin Clark, her
treatment from the officials and other players in the WNBA.
Is it over the line? Is it not? You have
your Caitlyn Clark supporters that are saying why she treated
like this? You have people saying why doesn't she stop whining?
She's not entitled to anything. It has been a battle

that has raged and Gino Oriema because it's been a
minute since we heard from Geno. The last time it
was either're not calling fowls on my team, they're calling
fowls on there. We haven't been to the free throw
line once. The third quarter of this game. Gino, probably
doing a little bit of damage control, did a podcast
in which he talked about what was going on right
now with Caitlin Clark, longtime Yukon women's coach. Said Hey, listen,

I get what's going on, but this isn't the decline
and fall of Western civilization.

You know, but it's not like when Tiger came in
the PGA Tour.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
He changed the PGA Tour forever.

Why well, there was so much money that came to
the PGA Tour. But in addition, he won every tournament, right,
So that's the big difference, you know, that's the big difference.
And I knew that this was going to happen, and
unfortunately that's where we are, and I wish we weren't,
and I hope it goes away faster than anybody can

imagine because it's now. Having said that, I do think
there are some personal animosities in that league where people
are going to take a shot at her unfairly, no
question about that, no question about that. And anybody can
deny it all they want. Okay, anybody can deny it
(08:29):
all they want, because if if if I'm wrong, then
there will be a lot more people coming to her defense.

He also went on to say that while this is
going on, this is not a referendum on America right
this have Caitlin Clark supports as being this is a
battle that's being fought mainly on social media. But here's
Jen Oriema saying, listen, this is what's happening right now.
They should but let's not say that. Okay, everybody is
bad and America is bad because you have the supporters

and the non supense orders right now. This is what
you know, you hear. I like to say this a
lot over the past few years, Like there's a this
is a The Wire conversation where the Wire TV show
where they didn't want to they didn't solve problems, They
just said, this is kind of what the world is
like and we just have to live in it every
single day. That was the whole thing with The Wire
wasn't well, wait a minute, this guy's got to get
us come up and say no, the bad guys win sometimes,

good guys win sometimes. But this is what it was,
this Caitlin Clark drama. I'll tell you that this is
this is the this continued drama. I'll tell you how
the Caiton Clark drama ends. Where is she gonna suddenly
get treated better by the officials? When will she be
get treated better by by her peers, by other teams.
It's not going to end. This is simply what it's

going to be for the rest of her career in
the w NBA. This is her life. This is the
WNBA's life, and it's gonna slog like this for a decade.
She's gonna continually fight the foul battle that she's been
fighting unless she stops complaining about. But she's complained about
calls her entire life, so you know that's gonna continue.

Other players will continue to fight the jealousy and hate battle,
and they're also gonna fight the battle of I want
to show her on better than she is, and it's
gonna get physical. If we're at the point now where
she's three years a little not not quite three years
into the league, we've seen we've seen time for the
the initial outburst and people taking sides to be able
to come to some sort of conclusion. The fact that

that not only has this battle of Caitlyn Clark and
being appreciated by the WNBA being a hero, being an icon,
being a villain, the fact that we're still fighting this
and it's still something that that's so hot on both sides.
This is never going away. It's just gonna be like this,
We're gonna be talking about Caitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese
in ten years. We're gonna talk about is Caitlyn Clark

someone that that the league is is is standing up
for or not standing up for? Are are the Are
the players over the line with their physical play? Are
they not? This is just going to continue. So the
best thing I can tell you is that, like this,
this is a hot debate right now, and whether Alyssa
Thomas gets a technical foul or not, whether she gets
a flagrant foul or not, these debates, these stories are

just gonna keep going for the next ten years. So
get ready, get comfortable, because this is what it's gonna be.
It's gonna be a bumpy ride, and it's gonna be
something we pay attention to because this is the price
you pay. Sometime you want you want to be part
of the seat at the table. Wa NBA has got
a seat at the table. But this is the overwhelming storyline,
and it's gonna be this way for as long as

she's in the league.

Yeah, with some of it, it goes back to the
nineteen seventy seven Dave Mason classic There ain't no good guys.
There ain't no bad guys. There's only you and me
and we just disagree. And then you say ooh, and
go from there the wire and go on down the line.
I'll take it into a more worldly space. And you know,

let's get uncomfortable. What was the war on drugs? Did
we really want to solve the war on drugs? We've
been talking about this for as long as I've been alive,
rightn't at the group the War on drugs go.

It's a whole other thing.

But just the idea of any publicity and people yap
in there and flapping their gums about the WNBA, there
are some that would probably believe that's a good thing,
even if it's in the worst of circumstances.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Oh yeah, we're about the WNBA.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
Sure now, as Caitlin Clark so eloquently put it in
that five minute preamble to a press conference as she
met with the media last weekend. It was all about, well,
this is unfortunate that clicks are where it rules, which
means you're going to have either side take it and
run from there, and we're not actually talking about basketball.

You exacerbate that by the lunacy that happened with their
All Star game where half the league didn't vote. And
I know that's kind of around all the leagues, going
all the way to SIDS filling out stuff for the coaches,
his coaches ball Yeah, coach had no idea, but here
we go, so like, go on down the line, or
the Spark's not actually getting their ballots. So you've got
administrative stuff at the lowest level. I mean, this is
(12:59):
just did you hit send? And you can't even respond
to that. So to think that as a league you're
gonna be competent to squash.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Any of this, you're kidding yourself.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
Yeah, right, And they're fraught with the same perils we
talked about with the NBA, going back to how the
playoffs and finals were were officiated. We've talked about it
a lot with FIFA w NBA officiating, And we've watched
a number of games here in the studio looking at
each other going wow, that's more physical or kind of agreed,
just like if you had var you'd go back and

call that foul right time and again. So it's it's
in everybody's best interest, it seems to keep it there.
And for Caitlin Clark, she's gonna have to wear it
because there are people that don't like her. They're people
that want their cut of whatever that pie is and
they want their slap on the back for their achievements.

Angel Reese now in Atlanta's still doing the same thing.
Hey we didn't get these votes for the All Star Game.
We're a first place team? Are they great?

Maybe maybe not, But same thing beef still continues there
in a different form. So that's not going away. I
know folks have said, hey, she can go to Europe,
make a lot of money, whatever, But so long as
she's in the w NBA, this is gonna keep getting outcome.

And she's a star. She's not going She's a star here.
She's a big star. She's a big star in her
home country. She grew up playing college basketball here, she's
gonna stay here, right So, but but understand this is
gonna be it. I mean, she's got to get that
that this is how her life is going to go.
The Wazo, this is how life is going to go
for them. There's gonna be highs, gonna be lows, there's
gonna be embarrassing things that happen to come out, and

it's never going to change. You know.

She didn't say as part of her five minute speech
that that they should be better to the referees.

Yeah, if she does, that would help us.

See, I told you that.

I told you that's the one that's the one piece
of advice that would cut through, is that if you
stop complaining to the referees because nobody likes that, Nobody
likes the optic of complaining or flopping nobody, then think
about message for a vo. Nothing will make people I
hate you more than that, right, Like even Luke as
much aybody loves Luke, I can't stand it. Everybody loves SGA,

I can't stand that he flops. If you stop complaining it,
just cut your complaints down half, just like I say
to SGA, Like I said SGA in the playoffs. If
he would just flop half the time, it would be
a whole lot better. But he flops every single time.
If you would just cut half of the time you
complain demonstratively about calls, or just save it for when
you're actually on the court and not on the bench

screaming for it. Like all these things you could do yourself.
That's the biggest favor that Caitlin Clark could do for
herself because certain things, like when she talks, people are
gonna love what she says, people are gonna hate what
she has to say. She has no control over that,
but that's the one optic that she's got that she

told her was too damn bad. But the day after
for the United States men's team, right over forty million
people watched the loss to Belgium last night, many of
us embarrassed in the United States. Look, I said it
before we even before the game was even over. And
maybe Alexi Lawless listens to the show, because then he
said it after we did. Uh, the US picked a

bad time to have a bad game. They were bad
across the board. They were absolutely terrible. And today I
think the emotions went from the shock of last night,
the emotions of now it's over, what a great ride
this has been for the last few weeks, and now
people are just straight up angry. We still suck at soccer.

I don't know how this happened. How are we still
so far behind? You know, all the stuff you hear
every World Cup from you know people have did that,
you know, discover soccer for you know, three and a
half weeks. But why are we better?
Speaker 4 (18:19):
Oh yeah, why did I why did you force me
to care for these three weeks? And why were those
two guys suspended? And we're just finding out now those
I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Now. I say this to everybody who is mad that
says it's terrible, we stink all this. Okay, you guys,
it's just a it's just a reaction. You just want
to be mad because I'm telling you things are way
better than you think they are with men's soccer. Yes,
if you want to look at absolutes and say that

we still can't get past the round of sixteen, we've
gotten to the round of eight once and it was
over twenty years ago. Another time, I get that, right,
that's a that's a that's an absolute fair assessment. However,
I'm old enough to remember four years ago we're coming
off the World Cup. Things were awful and US soccer
was in the gutter. Okay, it is no, no, no,

they were absolutely We were talking about the US men's
national team and the Greg Burholter era and the failure
that it was not making the World Cup in twenty eighteen,
losing very quickly in twenty twenty two, the drama over
whether or not he should stay as coach, the drama
between him and the rain of Family. That was like
a soap opera. I mean, update all the time that
(19:33):
was youth soccer. Then you had the bit with Burholter
and his wife that came out in the in the
fight with the rain of Family, and it was embarrassing.
It was a huge committee put together to figure out
who should be the next men's head coach, and Burholter
was on it named himself the head coach, like we
couldn't get anybody to take this job. Men's soccer was

in the toilet, man, It was in an awful place.
Now four years later, yes, on the field, we didn't
get past the round of sixteen, but we won our group.
We want a knockout round game. We have the right
head coach. Now we're talking about what are we doing
on the field. Yes, if you want to talk about
where soccer has come from for thirty years, I get it,

But you look at what you gotta kept. Where were
we four years ago? Right, it's like saying, oh, man,
the Yankees. Look at the Yankees. Boy, they still can't
win but look where they were four years ago when
they were terrible, Right, you got to go back to
the recent as recent as are. This is where the
team has come up from. And the United States has
had a hell of a journey from where they were
in twenty twenty two. And you can argue whether or
not that was legitimate. We should have been that bad,

but that was the status of US soccer. That was
how low we were. And now at a point where okay,
now you have some expectations. We won some games, everybody
was excited. We got a couple of players that are
really good to build around. We have the right head
coach because now we're talking about soccer. Now, we're talking
about what to do to go forward. And you know,
Poachattino pushed most of the right buttons throughout the tournament,

getting them ready, getting them ready for what we saw.
So yeah, US soccer has come a hell of a
long way from twenty twenty two. You can't just broad
brush your mouth. This is where we just were. Man,
think about where we are now and this is where
we were, and you realize, okay, maybe it's not as
bad as we think it was.

I'm thinking about the scene in Rocky when he's talking
with Nick and he's going through all the you know,
and he goes they were all pad picked. Oh bumps,

group play, as we started to analyze, but who we
had a tough time in group play that the FIFA
did a great job, especially with the extra teams coming
in this year, saying hey, there was no group of death.
There was no Hey, this is loaded up against this group.
The groups were put there for Hey, we think these
are the teams that are gold have advanced. Nobody had

a really tough time. No, no, But the point is
we won two games and rested guys. Yeah, so it
was easy to say, hey, we're living up here and
then you play Bosnia. Oh listen, listen.

Bozzia had a lot of things to say in the
PostScript yesterday his game by the way, and the thirty
six hours preceding it. All I'm saying is the expectations
and what we saw. I believe folks put on filters
to take it into our Instagram world versus we're still
there's still a gap, right, we're still learning from crawl

to walk, not quite walk to run. Somewhere in that
continuum or if you want to do the evolution of man,
decide what stage evolution of Homer were stage. We are
walking yet, but we still have a lot of questions.

continue to invest. He's the guy I know that he

I know he's got this itch potentially to go back
to Europe and coach. And I'm okay with him going
go coach a couple of years, then you come back

and you coach us. Right, then you come back. However,
however you want to do, you want to go coach
back at Chelsea, something like, yeah, go do that, but
then you come back and go I'm okay with that.
I'm okay with with doing that. He's still going to
see the players, he's going to see the majority of
them playing in Europe. I'm absolutely fine with that. He's
the right coach and understand that this we've come a
long way that now we have the right because I've
seen again. I remember what it was like with remember

where it was. It was. It was so bad that
people the only I remember it was so bad under Burholter. Right.
I remember thinking watching the Fox Show after a United
States game, united States loss, a tie, whatever, it was,
seeing them come off the game and here's Rob Stone
and Alexi Lawless and Carly Lloyd and just seeing the

But like you would set that phone when the ESPN
phone came out, like it was a first the first

you know, hey, big sport. Before I realize, oh, you
can get on the internet whatever, you want. You would
set it and say it'll give you an alert every
half inning or when a run is scored. I'm like, oh,
that sounds so awesome, right, that sounded and again this
is like two thousand and five. It sounded so awesome,
like when that was the case.

Oh, and a great idea to grant Grandpa if that
if that came out now, people would throw their phones
in a ditch after the third time they got alerted.
I got another alert, I got another alert. I got
We don't want to get we don't like alerts. Now
we get text messages. I gotta check my phone again.

phone again. Not that we're not on our phones all
the time, but checking for peske text messages can be

a pain in the ass sometimes. Can you imagine get
getting in a two and a half hour span, getting
let's say eighteen and then probably ten or twelve, getting
thirty alerts to check what the score your game is? Again,
you would want to throw your phone out the window
in the first forty minutes. I can't do it. I

can't do this. How do I shut these alerts off?
When I want to check the score. I'll check the score.
You know, if you could have found a way for
the alert to just be no runs, no hits, one
er or nothing across to the Mets, top of the
second inning, Mets and Cardinals, right, I mean better off

a voice that could tell you what it was. I
think maybe with Ai we can work on that. Oh,

Biggest NBA story the last couple of weeks, well outside

has been the daily soap opera of Caitlin Clark, her
treatment from the officials and other players in the WNBA.
Is it over the line? Is it not? You have
your Caitlyn Clark supporters that are saying why she treated
like this? You have people saying why doesn't she stop whining?
She's not entitled to anything. It has been a battle

that has raged and Gino Oriema because it's been a
minute since we heard from Geno. The last time it
was either're not calling fowls on my team, they're calling
fowls on there. We haven't been to the free throw
line once. The third quarter of this game. Gino, probably
doing a little bit of damage control, did a podcast
in which he talked about what was going on right
now with Caitlin Clark, longtime Yukon women's coach. Said Hey, listen,

I get what's going on, but this isn't the decline
and fall of Western civilization.

You know, but it's not like when Tiger came in
the PGA Tour.

there are some personal animosities in that league where people
are going to take a shot at her unfairly, no
question about that, no question about that. And anybody can

there will be a lot more people coming to her defense.

He also went on to say that while this is
going on, this is not a referendum on America right
this have Caitlin Clark supports as being this is a
battle that's being fought mainly on social media. But here's
Jen Oriema saying, listen, this is what's happening right now.
They should but let's not say that. Okay, everybody is
bad and America is bad because you have the supporters

and the non supense orders right now. This is what
you know, you hear. I like to say this a
lot over the past few years, Like there's a this
is a The Wire conversation where the Wire TV show
where they didn't want to they didn't solve problems, They
just said, this is kind of what the world is
like and we just have to live in it every
single day. That was the whole thing with The Wire
wasn't well, wait a minute, this guy's got to get
us come up and say no, the bad guys win sometimes,

good guys win sometimes. But this is what it was,
this Caitlin Clark drama. I'll tell you that this is
this is the this continued drama. I'll tell you how
the Caiton Clark drama ends. Where is she gonna suddenly
get treated better by the officials? When will she be
get treated better by by her peers, by other teams.
It's not going to end. This is simply what it's

going to be for the rest of her career in
the w NBA. This is her life. This is the
WNBA's life, and it's gonna slog like this for a decade.
She's gonna continually fight the foul battle that she's been
fighting unless she stops complaining about. But she's complained about
calls her entire life, so you know that's gonna continue.

Other players will continue to fight the jealousy and hate battle,
and they're also gonna fight the battle of I want
to show her on better than she is, and it's
gonna get physical. If we're at the point now where
she's three years a little not not quite three years
into the league, we've seen we've seen time for the
the initial outburst and people taking sides to be able
to come to some sort of conclusion. The fact that

that not only has this battle of Caitlyn Clark and
being appreciated by the WNBA being a hero, being an icon,
being a villain, the fact that we're still fighting this
and it's still something that that's so hot on both sides.
This is never going away. It's just gonna be like this,
We're gonna be talking about Caitlyn Clark versus Angel Reese
in ten years. We're gonna talk about is Caitlyn Clark

someone that that the league is is is standing up
for or not standing up for? Are are the Are
the players over the line with their physical play? Are
they not? This is just going to continue. So the
best thing I can tell you is that, like this,
this is a hot debate right now, and whether Alyssa
Thomas gets a technical foul or not, whether she gets
a flagrant foul or not, these debates, these stories are

just gonna keep going for the next ten years. So
get ready, get comfortable, because this is what it's gonna be.
It's gonna be a bumpy ride, and it's gonna be
something we pay attention to because this is the price
you pay. Sometime you want you want to be part
of the seat at the table. Wa NBA has got
a seat at the table. But this is the overwhelming storyline,
and it's gonna be this way for as long as

Sure now, as Caitlin Clark so eloquently put it in
that five minute preamble to a press conference as she
met with the media last weekend. It was all about, well,
this is unfortunate that clicks are where it rules, which
means you're going to have either side take it and
run from there, and we're not actually talking about basketball.

You exacerbate that by the lunacy that happened with their
All Star game where half the league didn't vote. And
I know that's kind of around all the leagues, going
all the way to SIDS filling out stuff for the coaches,
his coaches ball Yeah, coach had no idea, but here
we go, so like, go on down the line, or
the Spark's not actually getting their ballots. So you've got
administrative stuff at the lowest level. I mean, this is

just did you hit send? And you can't even respond
to that. So to think that as a league you're
gonna be competent to squash.

Any of this, you're kidding yourself.

Yeah, right, And they're fraught with the same perils we
talked about with the NBA, going back to how the
playoffs and finals were were officiated. We've talked about it
a lot with FIFA w NBA officiating, And we've watched
a number of games here in the studio looking at
each other going wow, that's more physical or kind of agreed,
just like if you had var you'd go back and

call that foul right time and again. So it's it's
in everybody's best interest, it seems to keep it there.
And for Caitlin Clark, she's gonna have to wear it
because there are people that don't like her. They're people
that want their cut of whatever that pie is and
they want their slap on the back for their achievements.

home country. She grew up playing college basketball here, she's

for them. There's gonna be highs, gonna be lows, there's
gonna be embarrassing things that happen to come out, and

I can't stand that he flops. If you stop complaining it,
just cut your complaints down half, just like I say

he would just flop half the time, it would be

If you would just cut half of the time you
complain demonstratively about calls, or just save it for when
you're actually on the court and not on the bench

people watched the loss to Belgium last night, many of
us embarrassed in the United States. Look, I said it
before we even before the game was even over. And
maybe Alexi Lawless listens to the show, because then he
said it after we did. Uh, the US picked a

bad time to have a bad game. They were bad
across the board. They were absolutely terrible. And today I
think the emotions went from the shock of last night,
the emotions of now it's over, what a great ride
this has been for the last few weeks, and now
people are just straight up angry. We still suck at soccer.

I don't know how this happened. How are we still
so far behind? You know, all the stuff you hear
every World Cup from you know people have did that,
you know, discover soccer for you know, three and a
half weeks. But why are we better?

Oh yeah, why did I why did you force me
to care for these three weeks? And why were those
two guys suspended? And we're just finding out now those
I don't understand.

Now. I say this to everybody who is mad that
says it's terrible, we stink all this. Okay, you guys,
it's just a it's just a reaction. You just want
to be mad because I'm telling you things are way
better than you think they are with men's soccer. Yes,
if you want to look at absolutes and say that

we still can't get past the round of sixteen, we've
gotten to the round of eight once and it was
over twenty years ago. Another time, I get that, right,
that's a that's a that's an absolute fair assessment. However,
I'm old enough to remember four years ago we're coming
off the World Cup. Things were awful and US soccer
was in the gutter. Okay, it is no, no, no,

they were absolutely We were talking about the US men's
national team and the Greg Burholter era and the failure
that it was not making the World Cup in twenty eighteen,
losing very quickly in twenty twenty two, the drama over
whether or not he should stay as coach, the drama
between him and the rain of Family. That was like
a soap opera. I mean, update all the time that
(19:33):
was youth soccer. Then you had the bit with Burholter
and his wife that came out in the in the
fight with the rain of Family, and it was embarrassing.
It was a huge committee put together to figure out
who should be the next men's head coach, and Burholter
was on it named himself the head coach, like we
couldn't get anybody to take this job. Men's soccer was
(19:54):
in the toilet, man, It was in an awful place.
Now four years later, yes, on the field, we didn't
get past the round of sixteen, but we won our group.
We want a knockout round game. We have the right
head coach. Now we're talking about what are we doing
on the field. Yes, if you want to talk about
where soccer has come from for thirty years, I get it,

But you look at what you gotta kept. Where were
we four years ago? Right, it's like saying, oh, man,
the Yankees. Look at the Yankees. Boy, they still can't
win but look where they were four years ago when
they were terrible, Right, you got to go back to
the recent as recent as are. This is where the
team has come up from. And the United States has
had a hell of a journey from where they were
in twenty twenty two. And you can argue whether or
not that was legitimate. We should have been that bad,

but that was the status of US soccer. That was
how low we were. And now at a point where okay,
now you have some expectations. We won some games, everybody
was excited. We got a couple of players that are
really good to build around. We have the right head
coach because now we're talking about soccer. Now, we're talking
about what to do to go forward. And you know,
Poachattino pushed most of the right buttons throughout the tournament,

getting them ready, getting them ready for what we saw.
So yeah, US soccer has come a hell of a
long way from twenty twenty two. You can't just broad
brush your mouth. This is where we just were. Man,
think about where we are now and this is where
we were, and you realize, okay, maybe it's not as
bad as we think it was.

I'm thinking about the scene in Rocky when he's talking
with Nick and he's going through all the you know,

go coach a couple of years, then you come back

then you come back and go I'm okay with that.
I'm okay with with doing that. He's still going to
see the players, he's going to see the majority of
them playing in Europe. I'm absolutely fine with that. He's
the right coach and understand that this we've come a
long way that now we have the right because I've
seen again. I remember what it was like with remember

I remember thinking watching the Fox Show after a United
States game, united States loss, a tie, whatever, it was,
seeing them come off the game and here's Rob Stone

looks on their faces. I just I remember watching that
going They're just mad. They're so unbelievably mad about everything
going on. I mean, it's just gonna be them unloading.
And that's really what it was. After US game, It's
usually it's them unloading on the United States, Right, That's

United States can win the World Cup. I mean now
it's I mean, so understand it's a better place than
it was. I mean, just because we looked and saw,
oh we had the same result. We couldn't win. Okay, Yes,

yes we lost, but boy, what a great showing we had.

it was a result that wasn't what we expected. I
