Let's give this.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in Side hour three the Jason Smith Show
with my.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Bass friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
And uh, it's not often we get big news at midnight.
We're nine o'clock here in Los Angeles, but we have
that the first domino of the coaching cycle is set
to fall. Adam Schefter reporting this just moments ago, Gonna

(01:02):
give you his tweet right off of social media that
maybe the most sought after guy on the head coaching
market has found a partner.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
This from nine minutes ago.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
John Harbaugh and the Jet John Harbaugh and the Giants
are working to finalize an agreement to make him New
York's next head coach, and, barring a setback, a deal
is expected. Multiple sources tell ESPN the deal is not
final and contract numbers still are being negotiated. One source

(01:41):
said quote there is still a lot to work through,
but barring any setbacks, Harbaugh is ready to accept the
Giants deal and the Giants are expected to hire him
as soon as possible. John Harbaugh and the Giants, a
match we thought was going to happen early on, looks
like it is. Harball was meeting with the Giants today.

(02:02):
I saw the headline of New York Post was don't
let him out of the building. He doesn't leave the
building without signing a contract. And then we heard that, Hey,
I'm gonna go meet with Tennessee. Wait wait, really, I
thought you were you were discerning who are you're meeting with?
You're gonna go meet with Tennessee, You'll meet with the Titans. Real,
I just wanted to go get some Nashville hot chicken
or what. Hey, you don't give me that contract, Giants,
I'll go meet with the Titans.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Let's not get crazy. Let's not get crazy, hang on,
hang on, hang on.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Okay, well that means I have extra time during my
interview with the Titans because they're talking to everybody.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
But you said you're only gonna tell you you were
gonna be really you're gonna weed teams sharing, Yeah, you know,
very selective. If you're talking to the Titans, you're talking
to everybody.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
So you're saying you're not talking to the other twenty
three twenty two teams plus the Ravens about their about
their jobs, right, because there's only nine available.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Yeah, this is uh, this is not how uh it
normally goes. When you are that sought after, you don't
you know, you don't meet with the Titans and sorry
and the Cardinals and the Raiders. But again, nine openings.
You need to create some leverage. But it turns out
didn't need to because the Giants are gonna get that guy. Look,
Adam Schefter is not tweeting this out unless the Giants

(03:15):
are getting John Harbaugh, right and and whatever his demands were,
twenty million dollar a year control over personnel. The money,
look doesn't matter, right, money doesn't matter because it's not
salary cap contingent. It's what the best coaches in the NFL.
It should be the next benchmark for them to start making.
Eventually they'll start treating treating college NFL coaches like college

(03:35):
football coaches, where the big ones make inordinate amounts of money,
you know, money that they should be doing. They shouldn't
make it more earlier, but they'll get it. The whole
part of control over the roster. I don't know that
Joe Shane's real happy with it, but I know that
he also has a choice at this point, because hey,
you kept your job. But the thing is, Joe Shane's
done a good job of bringing talent in, right. I mean,

(03:56):
you could say, okay, hey, you know you want to
blame Brian Dable. Yeah he's a guy coaching the guys
on the field. But uh, you know, Joe Shane's a guy.
Hey listen, I'm just packing the groceries and buying him
for you're the one cooking the meal. So I mean,
I bought all the right groceries. I got the right
I got the right ingredients. I got ones on sale,
I got organic. I got stuff that's gonna stay fresh.
I didn't buy milt it's gonna go bad in two

(04:17):
days now. I got all the great groceries. Man, I
got you Jackson Dart, got your scataboo in the fourth round, Right,
got you? Elak neighbors, you know, made something out of
Wandale Robinson, Theo Johnson, right, the defensive line. Maybe Abdua
Carter really gets it, becomes a superstar, right, We've hey,
I've given you great groceries. But so that's the one
part that's a little weird. But outside of that, look,

(04:38):
I give the Giants credit because they didn't let him
out of the building. And the big takeaway is the
Giants got John Harbaugh for one very simple reason. They
have or had the best opening of any of the
nine teams in the NFL. The Steelers is a great
opening because you know you're gonna get time. You're not
gonna get fired right away. And if, boy, if you're

(05:00):
the next Steelers head coach, he gets fired right, just
think about that like you make it two years of pitswall, but.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Just say coach terribly because that's one thing Tomlin never did.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
Right.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
We don't know, but the theory has not truly been
tested in a very very long time.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Just think when Adam Gase gets that gig and he
gets fired at all. To so so, Steelers is a
good because of that. Steelers is a good job because
you know you're gonna get time. But bottom line is
this is a team that's starting over at quarterback. You're
starting over to a lot of positions offensively. Your defense
is good, right, defense is always good.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Aging.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Yeah, but agent DJ Watts, right, Heyward and all these
guys might come back.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
But they're all aging.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
From a security standpoint, Okay, that's a good job. But
from a success standpoint, no job is better than the Giants.
They are set up to succeed. Again, the guys we
just talked about, these are all players at any look.
This is why when the Giants opening came about, right
when Dable got fired and you saw that Jackson Dart
was the real thing. Scat of is is a little

(06:01):
bit more than a cult here, probably a guy that
needs to split time in the back of the.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
Yeah you have you had that you had a third
and seitary like you.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Were okay, yeah, you're good when you see when all
the groceries are there for a phenomenal meal. This this
is this is a job you leave where you are for.
This is a job where you should be able to
go out and get the number one coaching candidate. Now,
I felt Harbor is a better fit with the Falcons.
We've talked about that, but I can't say the Giants
got it wrong. They went out and got the number
one guy out there who has a cachet, who's won

(06:32):
a Super Bowl, that that knows what it's like to
deal with with a big set, with big salaries and
big personalities in a in a in a in a
big market type situation. So okay, But the Giants got
John Harball because we had the best possible landing for you.
And that's when you look at all these other teams
in the NFL, it's like, boy, they're all really struggling.

(06:53):
Even you know, I got some big, big name openings there,
but nothing was better than the Giants. You you should
be and now it's it's hard for her. He's got
to walk in. They expect results right away, like you're expecting, Hey,
we're in the playoffs next year. We got Jackson Dart,
a healthy scoataboo with healthy neighbors, like we are in
the playoffs next year. But Harball's not a guy that's
coming in with a system to take taking He's a
guy he's a CEO type head coach that will bring

(07:15):
in the players and bring in the coaches he wants, Hey,
this is what we're gonna run here, this is how
we're gonna do it. And he's always done a great
job of being that CEO type head coach. The Ravens
have always been in contention. They won AFC North no
matter what situations they are, whether they had weapons at
wide receiver for Lamar Jackson, whether they didn't have weapons
at wide receiver, whether they had a good running back
or they didn't have a good running back, they still

(07:35):
found their way to be there. So for the Giants,
it's a ready it's a ready made solution. And for
a guy like John Harbaugh to come in and where
you don't have to worry about building anything or signing
anybody crazy and free agency, it's all there. Just do
it like this is as close to being set up
for success as you're ever gonna have in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Well, you also go to massive market and what was
once and can be again one of those organizations that
stood among the stable and the great and all of
those you know, hyperbolic you know terms that you would use.
You know, you looking at it from a Jets fan,
you've always hated them. Well, now you may have your

(08:16):
opportunity once again. With Harbaugh. I mean he was there
in Baltimore since two thousand and eight rookie year of
long time, long time Joe Flacco. Well, yeah, and they
came in together. Yeah, and well and Mark Sanchez, Well yeah, no,
he was, he was on nine. He was on nine.
He was the next year. Oh, that's right, he was

(08:36):
on nine o eight. It's Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco,
and Joe Flacco was elite. But all of that to
say one hundred and eighty and one hundred and thirteen.
And with the Giants, what you've had for the last
few runs is you've had several coaches who you kind
of liked. They got their their their legs under them,

(08:56):
and then just that quickly it went away. Look out
look the term of Brian Dable, right, he was the
hot thing and everything was working offensively, and then you
had a bunch of question marks as to how he
handled some of the talent that has been assembled. And
you've got a roster, got to figure out whether the
abdul Carter is get him. And there's been a lot

(09:17):
of rumblings of his work ethic, et cetera. But when
there were times on the field, they're like, yeah, that's
the guy you drafted in the first round, they traded
up to get Jackson Dart like Joe Shane for all
of the laughing stock, And we've talked about this a lot.
The Saquon Barkley move only looks terrible because you had
your owner come back over the top, going boy, I

(09:38):
really hope he doesn't go to Philadelphia, and then he
does and they win. Okay, fine, they're in the reset.
We talked about it last hour of what may be
going forward there, Jalen hurts, Nick Sirianni and company. But
Dallas plays well enough but can't get out of their
own way. Washington's in a bit of a rebuild mode.

(09:59):
Maybe they've got out their quarterback and things situated, but
you got a lot of question marks of the rest
of their roster. But for the Giants, yeah, they're trying
to get back to stability. And what did John Harbaugh do?
He was there forever he and Mike tongueould they face
off like forty four times or something like that before
they both exit, uh stage left. So the Giants are

(10:20):
looking to get back to being one of those marquee
franchises that everybody talks about their stability winning, et cetera.
For Harbad. The only question is I mean Greg Roman's available,
does he bring him back? Just Frostt's gonna come, He's
gonna fight. You know, he's gonna fight. He's not his
problem anymore anymore. I know, I know, I know. Maybe

(10:40):
Brandon Stalley comes back. You know, why did you do
that to him?

Speaker 1 (10:45):
I'm just going through former Chargers head coach. I'm just
going to former Chargers coaches.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Former coaches. Yeah, yeah, guys that were head men and
coordinators and whatever. But but yeah, for Harbaugh, I mean,
GoF guy, he's gonna interview in other places. But but
does he stays there? Oh? C You know, there's a
lot of questions that go through. How do you devise
a system whereby you get Jackson Dark to say, hey,
I'd like to play another down as opposed to ending

(11:10):
up in the tent. Well, and you've got and that's off.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
That's what John Harbaugh's strength is, right because you think
about what what he did so well for so long,
and a lot of it was Hey.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
You know, look, coaching is people.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
People forget sometimes that coaching is not always about the
x's and o's. It's the Jimmy and the Joe's right,
you've heard that, and we get caught up a lot
and head coaches that, Hey, what kind of system are
you bringing? What kind of system are you running? How
is it you're taking advantage of this system? System, system, system?
And sometimes it's it's the coaching is so much as
hey getting lamar Jackson, Hey play this way a little

(11:45):
bit more right, trying to guide you to make you
the best version of yourself you can be. So for
that part of it, Yeah, is is John Harbor the
guy to tell Jackson Dart, Hey, dude, this is how
you need to play. You got to run around to
stay around. Okay, you can't. You can't do that because
you're not helping us off the field. And when John
Harbaugh is telling you that a guy that's won Super Bowls,
been to two super Bowls, won what he's got, you

(12:08):
tend to listen to that more than Hey, here's Mike
Kafka saying, if you could.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
Not get hurt, so I could keep the job. After
Brian Dabele's getting fired like there was no once Dable
got from Northwestern? Is that why you did that?

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Now he's doing the pimply faced guy from a Simpsons
mister Simpson. But just think about Jackson Dart the end
of the season. He was talking and carrying himself like
I'm running the team, Like he's got a lot of
Brett fav Bravado in him and that, but like he's
not the guy that should be, Hey, I do this,
I do this. No, you have a strong head coach

(12:42):
in he doesn't say stuff like that, and he starts
to understand, I can't play that way.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
Well, what a guy would sweat and I want that
part of him, right, I recognize that, right, And we've
talked about that a lot. When you look at Lamar,
you look at Josh Allen, go back to Cam Newton
and what'd you get eight nine years of Pete Cam.
That's the guy he is. But you've got to be
smart about when when to slide, when to get out
of bounds, when to not test. Hey is this guy

(13:06):
gonna run through me if I try to steal the
extra yard? Jackson Dart hasn't learned that. I'd like to
think as he revisits the twenty twenty five season in
the dark room, because that's how he has to watch
sure film review in the dark room, that he sits
there and recognizes you know what, I probably should have
gotten down. There's another one. Probably shouldn't ended up to

(13:27):
the tent because he played really well in some big games.
Yeah right, because that's the thing in twenty four. But
he wasn't beating up on cream pumps too. He was
he was going toe to toe against some of the
better teams in what was a weird twenty twenty five season.
But he played well in those spots, even with Malik
Neighbors already sidelined. So now you've got the opportunity he

(13:49):
comes back. He had another weapon. Wondell Robinson finished with
ninety two catches. Oh got some guys to work with you,
THEO Johnson. You mentioned him. He was a guy that
had a couple of really big games. We talked about
him a lot for fantasy purposes. You've got guys. Now
you've just got to rally it together. Remember when Harball
got hired by the Ravens. It was out of the
box thinking by Bishati because he wasn't an offensive or

(14:11):
defensive coordinator. He was a special teams Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
I mean, look, when there's all different kinds of specialties
that head coaches are specialize in, this is stuff like
that with Harbaugh and Jackson Dart. That's the number one
thing he's gonna get. Jackson Dart play a little bit smarter, X,
Y and Z and you're gonna see. I mean, he's
gonna have an impact on the team right away. So
that is the big news at this hour. John Harbaugh

(14:36):
expected to finalize an agreement with the Giants, Adam Schefter
reporting that just a few minutes ago. Coming up next,
we have more on this big story. Harbaugh to the Giants,
what should the next coaching domino to fall be? I
got the team, I got the coach. That's next right here,

Big News, Big News, Cuckoo.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
Your selfish bastard. The Jets are number two, Stille. I
just went all dukes of hazard in your jumping cuckoo, cuckoo.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
The Jets have always been number two pile of all
the teams. I root for the second best teams in
the market, right poop, And they're.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
Picking number two. And that guy decided he doesn't want
any part of you, and it's all good.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
By the Let me just say this right, okay, because
clearly this will make Frostburg happy. If k supposedly the
Mets are waiting for Kyle Tucker's decision tomorrow right from
you know, fifty million dollars a year now they've gone
up to a fourth year, according to reports. If Kyle
Tucker has a four year, two hundred million dollar contract

(16:20):
on the table from the Mets, okay, and he's got
a longer term contract on the table from the Blue Jays,
which is probably for less aav but somewhere in the
vicinity of a seven or eight year, three hundred and
seventy five million dollar deal something like that. Right, if
he's got both the short term big money contract that
he wants and the long term big money contract that

(16:41):
he wants and he hasn't signed with either team, this
tells me he wants someone else, likely the Dodgers, because
it supposedly be is down to these three teams for him.
So if he if he hasn't taken the Mets offer,
and he hasn't taken the Blue Jays offer, he wants
the Dodger And right now is a frantic fight to
the finish of can the Dodgers get close to what
I want? Want? That's where I want to be. If

(17:01):
the Dodgers get close, he'll go there. If not, he'll
pick somewhere else. But it's clear to me that the
Mets and the Blue Jays are running second and third
to whoever his preferred destination is, and it's probably the Dog.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
Yeah. I mean it's only three hundred and thirty million
Canadian Yeah, that is true. It's basically basically why would
you even sign it? I mean, why, yeah, you got
you gotta pump that up a bit. But but yeah,
the fact that the Mets are now extending to Ford,
It's like I watched the second half of that year.
We chronicled it, what happened with he and Pete Carr,
Armstrong and the rest of that squad. I'm not giving

(17:34):
that guy seven seven years. He's already in what year
ten or eleven of his career, Like, no chance, I
want the back end of that.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Uh So, we have an update on the John Harbaugh situation.
Adam Schefter reporting about twenty five minutes ago that the
Giants and Harbaugh are working to finalize an agreement to
make him the giants next head coach, and, barring a setback,
a deal is expected. Now, there's still some teas to
cross and eyes to dot, but barring a setback, it

(18:05):
is expected.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
That's boring though.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Schefter just put this out a minute ago. Okay, John
Harbaugh's with the Eagles from ninety ninety eight to two
thousand and seven before taking the Ravens head coaching job
in two thousand and eight. Okay, that's great bio for him.
But here's the big thing. Harbor with the Eagles from
ninety eight to two thousand and seven before taking the
Ravens head coaching job and now returns to the NFC
East to take over as the Giants head coach. So,

(18:31):
without saying so, Schefter in the last twenty five minutes
has gone from they're working to finalize it barring a
set back, and now I'm following up by saying he
returns to the NFC East to take over as a
Giant's head coach. So this is much closer to the
finish line than was exped Look, he's not putting his the.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Word choice there would return versus returns. Well, w h
now returns the NFC's to take over, not where he
would take over now, because look, Schefter knows what he's
tweeting and what he's not. So this this tells me
that without saying the deal is done, the deal is done.
And maybe this is something where the Giants called him
and said, hey, you got the story, we gave it

(19:09):
to you or whatever it was, we gave it to you,
but we're gonna announce it tomorrow morning. Okay, great, So
this is Schefter's way of doing it because the Giants
want to announce it but but clearly this is I mean,
we look, Schefter's not tweeting this out unless it's happening. Yeah,
it's too bad, though, I really wanted some chaos here. Well,
but what do you want on a box? Thinking here
by the Giants and talking to ian Ian Roddy uh producer,

(19:33):
I watch flex and he goes, you know, they they
had that Joe Judge Higher that was the Special Teams guy,
so he had a mini John Harbaugh. And now they
actually have a real thing all these years later. I mean,
think about it, since Tom Kaughlin, Ben McAdoo, Spagnolo Shermer,
Judge Dable Kafka. Yeah, John Harball, Yeah, it's that I

(19:54):
wanted something different though, I wanted Giants to give me
more chaos.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
This is the thing where the Giants have gone from
head coaches they've hired that were really anti Giants hires
for a long time, because the Giants always went, hey, strong,
leader strong, you know.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Yeah, and I don't know why they got a wait,
they went.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Parcels Super Bowls to Coughlin Super Bowls and then it's
as you read, it's that cast. The characters they've run
through the last ten years, like those are such anti
Giants hires.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
You had that run of Jim Fossil. Yeah, like like
it was years, but yeah they were still plus five
hundred sure, but yeah, long tenured, stable franchise was what
they were. And then they became synonymous and linked in
the unfortunate terms with the Browns, Jets and Raiders in

(20:46):
terms of the revolving door of coaches.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
So I really it's it's it's a big step, and
it's a big swing for the Giants, and it's and
it's the right look. It's to get John Harborough. Like
I've said that Kevin Stefanski was the better call quarterback
wise for Jackson Dart. But it's not like hey, no, no,
don't go get John Harball. But Harball going here now
answers all the questions that the biggest like I said,
the biggest thing is now, it's not gonna be Hey,

(21:13):
let's kind of be competitive next year. Let's not finish
with the third next year. It's gonna be playoffs next year.
I maybe division title because the Cowboys got problems, the
Eagles got problems. Nobody likes each other, commanders got problems. Hey,
this is what to expect and this is not just
what expects from the fan base. This is fan base,
this is front office, this is roster wise. John Harbaugh

(21:34):
comes in, we are expecting playoffs and potentially division title
next year.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
Anything less is.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
An absolute disaster because this is that's the one thing
is that there's gonna be no coming in where hey,
new coach, new culture, new everything. We're gonna give you
a little bit tight. No, this is we expect big
things next year. To the point, really, I mean playoffs obviously,
but I guarantee you there's gonna be a there's gonna
be a lot. A big part of the Giants front
office and the tea we got to we should win

(22:01):
the division next year.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
We should win the division. But you go four and
thirteen and you look at the way the playoffs have
worked in the regular season this year. You had some
dramatic turnarounds. You look at their their schedule for next year.
Obviously you've got your division games, but you have the Browns,
you have the Cardinals, you have the Titans on your schedule. Yeah,

(22:26):
you've got some heavyweights along the way and some teams
that are trying to find their way. But yeah, the
expectations are that you're going to with that core. Assuming
Scatterbo is ready for week one and you have that
sledgehammer the Juggernaut as I call them, right back in
because it's all Marvel, Right, But I got my Instagram

(22:49):
all algorithm today and it was telling me collectibles, action
figures and superheroes. So I have to go down that
road with the Juggernaut. But you you've got enough talent,
assuming that you can fill out a little bit of
your back seven on defense, that there's no reason you
shouldn't compete right away. Not just compete. Competing is not

(23:11):
no no. I mean, I'm talking competing on the highest level.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Nine ain't gonna do it man, eight and nine eight
good eight nine will do it in a lot of places.
Eight nine you just got to do that. Jets Baltimore forever.
The Jets are eight nine next year, you know happy
I'll be for eight and nine.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Wow, you'll be in suffer if you're eight and nine.
You But here's how the Jets will do it. They'll go,
oh to nine that had that big push the finished strong.
You know how that worked for Raheem Morris. Right, Yeah,
They'll draft a quarterback who will stink. They'll say we
have to you know, Ty Simpson's gotta hit the bench.

(23:45):
And then like Jacoby Brissett or Matt Jones gonna come
in and say, hey, look he's gonna get cut in
in March. You're gonna end up with Kirk Cousins. No,
it's happy this time. You was us for leverage once.
Shame on me. There's seven general managers since then. No,
it doesn't matter. Everybody knows what's gonna pay him in

(24:08):
cole bot. I gotta get.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
Dude, you know the coals that I can have a
coals built right across the from the from the practice field.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
I can his career. He can own coal. How would
you feel?

Speaker 1 (24:20):
And they showed they showed me that in the PowerPoint
presentation that you know across the street, like right now,
it's like a Taco bell and and there's like a
Verizon Wireless or something else, and it's just he shows
this power point and it's a coals and a Mervyn
and a Target and a Patagonia.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
And it just says, welcome Kirk on the This is
what you can do for your lunch break. You never
really have to even leave the complex. You can get
food and you get your shopping done and get your
ass back in the film room.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
So understand that's the that's the biggest fear for the
Giant is the expectations. Now there's no mitigated where take it. No, no,
it is this is what has to happen. Where it
is a disaster.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
Yeah, you got the AFC South NFC, you got sixth
division games, of course, and then you've got the Browns,
the upstart Saints led by Tyler Shuck. Yeah, Rookie of
the year, Tyler Shuck. Maybe Rookie of the year. Maybe,
how about that? Maybe that would be something. Uh.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
Now, so Harbaugh, the domino has fall well more on
his aspect than the Giants on this coming up in
a bit. But now that this has gone, the rest
of the coaching dominoes should fall in a somewhat more
orderly fashion because Harbaugh taking this big. You know, nineteen
eighty three Jackson's victory tour, We're gonna go here and

(25:36):
here and here. You know that was gonna stop things, right,
you know that was that was gonna stop the victory.

Speaker 4 (25:43):
I actually just had video of the jack in my
timeline from their life.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Went to a thousand cities victory tour, right, it was like, oh,
the victory the yeah, the Victory Tour, in the Springsteen Tour,
the whole going on. At the same time, It's like, man, okay,
the Victory Tour is like, hey, we're playing three cities
in one night, right, That's what it was.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
So this victory tour for for John Harbaugh. You like that,
don't you?

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Yeah, I gotta I gotta explain the millennials, Uh what
the victory Tour was?

Speaker 4 (26:13):
All right?

Speaker 1 (26:13):
So Johnny Drama, Hey, Drama just had to see that
you were weren't that old anymore? So with John Harbor
now at the Giants, the next domino should fall in
the somewhat more I don't want to say orderly button.
It's much more timely fashion than this. Right, everybody's waiting,
where's John Harbaugh gonna go? Any team that hasn't opening

(26:36):
is gonna want to talk to him, try to convince him.
The next domino that should fall is Kevin Stefanski to
the Falcons. That's what should fall.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Right.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
If I couldn't get Harbor, if he couldn't get Harbaugh
to the Falcons where his cachet would work with the
roster and getting the young players to play it there
at their highest level. Stefanski and his quarterback grew ness
which we'll be able to hopefully figure out Michael Pennock Junior, because,
let's face it, the guy I mean you consider her.
Tell me Michael Pennix is the future and he's a
franchise guy. I have not seen a franchise quarterback in

(27:07):
Michael Penick Junior. I have seen a team that has
a lot of young talent and it can't be harnessed
now if you don't have John Harbaugh coming in, who
is basically the CEO. If Kevin Stefanski can come in
and look and he's shown being an offensive coach, I
can build a pretty good defense. I could don't worry
about that. Man, I got the defense. I can bring
Micha Miles Garrett with me, right, Okay, right, so I

(27:28):
can build a pretty good defense. But offensively, you saw
what I've been able to do with different parts and
different pieces. Right, It's like it's the you know, the
doctor trying to make Jack Nicholson look good in Batman.
But the tools that I have to work with, Kevin
Stefanski makes those all look like surgeons precisions scalpels and
forcips and clamps and whatever else you want to talk about.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
Been watching a lot of the pit lately, so I'm
on for SIPs and clamps. Mirror so yesday with Jerome.
Now we're back to the mirror.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
So Stefanski to get the most out of Mike Pennick Junior.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
That's what the Falcons have to think.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Okay, who's out there that we're gonna get the most
out of our quarterback on because we went all on
them up.

Speaker 4 (28:07):
We screwed up.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
Our roster by signing Cousins and then drafting Michael Pennix.
We gotta figure this part out. So who's the best
guy to go? There's other you know, good offensive coordinators
that that are gonna be get interviews now because you
know there's eight openings. But Kevin Stefanski is the guy
and that should be the domino that falls. Stefanski to
the Falcon should be next now.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
For off Fox sports dot Com odds courtesy of fan Duel,
Stefanski the leader in the clubhouse at plus two ten.
He was just ahead of John Harbaugh. Clint Kubiak was
on the metal stand as the third favorite at five
to one. Then you get in to Brian Flores, Matt
Lafleur sitting there. He still has a job. The Jets couldn't.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
Keep him as an offensive coordinator. Okay, so I mean
just understand it, but no, no, but he could be
a head coach.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Wait what the hell? Still not no?

Speaker 5 (29:01):
No no, yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
Said Mike. No no, not not no. You said, why
did you just go by? Mike? I thought you said
Michael from the major head explode The Jets had to
fire him. Okay, So yeah, it's Matt push pushed out
and then heads over to Atlanta. Okay, and then Mike
mc wait, give me a second, okay, okay, okay, okay,

(29:25):
and then and then Mike McCarthy would be down there,
Mike McDaniel, and then the long shot being Mike Tomlin
that he would immediately jump to another job. But yes, Stefanski,
it fits. You got to figure out with Michael Pennis Jr.
You also have to figure out is he gonna be
healthy to start? Like, what's that room look like? Because
you got to bring in another guy. Kirk Cousins are

(29:47):
gonna let walk right, they restructured his contract. He'll be
released and they'll get out from as much of his
cap hit as they can, and then you're hoping Pannix
is ready to go for week one, right, because that's
big Domino. Kyle Pittch We talked about it a lot
find the podcast from last night in terms of roster structure.

(30:07):
But for Stefanski, Yeah, you've got very few places where
you have a quarterback that you say, Okay, that's our guy,
right of all of these that's like the overwhelming problem
you have outside of Baltimore is who's your quarterback? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Yeah, Now we have Matt Lafleur. We have Mike Lafleur
time out to find out what's trending in the way.
Peter someone who's been called the Peter a Fox Sports
Radio champion because she tried to leave a big dodgeball
game but got talked back into it by Lance Armstrong.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
It's Mancy Belanos, Peter Laflora.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
That's such a good one. That's a great movie.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
Oh you know what I was talking about.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
It still like every time I watch that movie, it's
one of the ones where I have to actually sit
down and watch it. It's like I don't even want
to sit down and watch the movie, but it's on.
So now I'm gonna that's how good that movie is.
Always watch it.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
You know, Pirate Steve, just like a pirate. Nah, don't
know what you're talking about. Here's how you No, no, no,
don't know. It's so good, so good.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Yeah, guys, So it looks like the Giants have found
their head coach. What about the other teams? Well, the
Ravens have interviewed Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and Chargers
defensive coordinator Jesse Minter for their head coaching job. The
Dolphins interview Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Halflee. The Falcons are
gonna interview former Raiders head coach Antonio Peers Peers for

(31:28):
their for their head coaching job. When it comes to
other NFL news, Texans wide receiver and Nico Collins, he
is in concussion protocol.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
He was not seen that practice today.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
Something to keep in mind as Houston takes on England
in the AFC Divisional Round on Sunday. In the NBA,
one game still going on, the Clippers are leading the
Wizards at home one ten to ninety five with about
six minutes to go in the game. Kawhi Leonard thirty points.
Nuggets defeated the Mavericks went eighteen to one h nine
for their seventeenth road win of the season, which is
the most in the NBA. Jamal Murray led the way

(31:58):
with thirty three points. Also, Cooper Flag was ruled out
in the second half for Dallas with the left ankle sprain.
Don't look now, but the Kings have won three in
a row. After beating the Knicks one twelve to one
oh one to Marja Rozen twenty seven points in the win,
the Raptors outscored the Pacers one fifteen to one oh one.
The Bulls top the Jazz one twenty eight to one
twenty sis one twenty six. Bryce Sensiba never heard of

(32:20):
that name, but that guy for the Utah Jazz off
the bench forty three points in the loss. The Pelicans
defeated the Nets one sixteen to one thirteen. And in
college hoops, with about four and a half minutes to go,
Number one Arizona trying to pull away from Arizona State,
and they are up seventy five to sixty nine with
less than five minutes to go. Number four Michigan also

(32:41):
trying to pull away from Washington. They are up seventy
six to sixty three with about four minutes to go.
Halfway through the second half, Number six Duke is leading
California fifty to forty five, while Texas handed number ten
vanderbuilt their first loss of the season, coming out on
top eighty to sixty four. In the NHL OH one
game is still going on. It's the Golden Knights and

(33:02):
the Kings and they're tied at to a piece, headed
to overtime.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Back to you, guys, thanks a bunch of mons. Yes,
I was gonna ask you remember the Victory Tour from
nineteen eighty three.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
I wasn't gonna ask you that. No, okay, very good.
All who's you got, Peter Floor I we got to Peter.
Bryce sent THEMA Once upon a time in the Ohio
State Bucket. You know who Joni loves shot?

Speaker 2 (33:23):
He is yes, oh wow, really yes but not not
really yes but not really, but he loves shot.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
Like I do know.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
But it's like there because it's almost pop culture at
this point, well it is you we're saying, yeah, yeah, alright,
very good.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Yes, you're gonna look up Joney loves shot, you know. Okay,
I will make you drink your own blood coming up next.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Okay, it's gonna be really really you made me bleed
my own blood. Coming up next, it's gonna be really
difficult to pick one team to win Sunday in the
NFL playoffs. After I said playoffs, after hearing this weather
report from what it's going to be during the game.
That's next, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Fox Sports Radio. The Dallas Rain Show with my best
friend Amy Freeze. I think she's still whether weather person
New York, Amy Freeze.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
Oh, I don't know. That's a good day though.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
Who's mister free Dallas Rains, Amy Freeze, Johnny Mountain, Bob Froze. Okay,
well you said John Freeze, So I said Bob Froze.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
Nicely done. All right, there we go. Okay, uh now,
I said Johnny Mountain. But yeah, oh, I think you
said John. I heard John Freeze. You wanted to hear
John Freze. I heard mister free Freeze. Yeah, everybody chill.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
So we'll get back into the John Harbaugh situation. Looks
like it's happening with the Giants, Adam Schefter tweeting this
out a few minutes ago. But uh, you know, I'm
in a I'm in a conundrum right now.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
Yeah. Now, it's only Wednesday, but I.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Feel like before I make my pick for the marquee
game of the week in the NFL, which is Bears
Rams on Sunday, I have a couple of things here, because, Okay,
I picked the Rams to go to the super Bowl
beginning of the season, but I've been on the Bears bandwagon. Okay,
So all right, now I gotta, you know, I gotta
really look at things and see what I think. But

(35:25):
the more I see what the weather's gonna be like
Sunday night in Chicago, I don't know how the Rams
are going to win this game. What's your Doppler weather
report for us here on a Sunday night, Mike in
the Greater Chicago area.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
First up, as we sit, it's forty eight and a
half as your total Rams a four point road favored
for this right sure, weather as we sit tonight expected
to be between ten and fifteen degrees but reaching a
windshill of as low as minus fifteen.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
Yeah, Waitch Guss because because it's the windy city.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
See I knew that. Did you say windshill or wind
shills whench Oh, that would be the donut factor. Donuts
would be good. I'll bring in donuts.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Remember that Simpsons where where where it's donuts are are
falling out and and and margin goes, Oh, it's raining
Like that was Homer's fantasy world where it rain donuts.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
Oh, I like when it was his punishment, the ironic
punishment when he's eating donuts in Hell and they say
James Coco went mad in five minutes. Uh yeah, so
expected to be minus ten to minus fifteen win gus
twenty to thirty miles up now the windy city, of
course because of the politics and the blowhards of Chicago.

(36:42):
But yes, there are wind tunnels as you get downtown
that are not fun. You're right on Lake Michigan. If
you see some of the video tonight, if you're watching
the Weather channel, it is not good. In South Bend, Indiana,
they asked they get to keep their coach. They also
have gotten over a foot of snow. Dude.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
The last several hours video of Chicago tonight looks like
the last season of True Detective where when Jody Foster
is in Alaska and everything is covered with snow and
wind and ice and there's all these naked dead bodies
out on a lake and everything. I mean, I didn't
see that part of it, but like that, that's kind
of what I thought. I mean, I said I didn't
see that part of it in Chicago tonight, and true

(37:19):
Detective it was there. But I mean, really, I the Rams,
they they play all year long to not have to
play in these games, and I thought they were gonna
avoid it the way they played early in the season,
but they closed with such a meh that, now forget
about going to play in Philadelphia like they had to
do last year and almost pull it off. This is
this is even gonna be worse. Like I don't know,
I don't know how I picked the Rams to win

(37:41):
this game.

Speaker 4 (37:41):
That's gonna be. The downfield passing game is compromised. The
thicker kicker has he faced this kind of thing, because
we've watched Cairo Santo's play, you know, golf with this
field goal kicking them right, I gotta go ten yards
this way? Yeah, watch it like it's a long Why
are you aiming that way? Just trust me? Just trust

(38:02):
he's gonna come all the way where he hits it
and watch it go all the way back the last
twenty yards as it gets pulled back over the middle.

Speaker 5 (38:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
So it's it's shaping up to be a very fun experience.
And I can't wait to be sitting outside and shorts
here in southern California.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
I mean, this is just a disastrous Well it's a
it's an unbelievably advantageous weather report for the Bears, but
it's absolute disaster for the Rent.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
Yeah. I mean the running game will travel obviously Williams
and Korham, but yeah, they're not made to run the
ball like that. The Bears can run the ball a
lot better. Williams plays, yeah, but still, I mean, he
hasn't gotten that soft. His blood hasn't did that past.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
The rams are made for Hey, when we're bailing out,
it's it's it's Puka Nakua and it's Davante Adams and
now good luck making that. I don't care how Matthew
Staffords could actually have to look where he's throwing the
ball this week. Yeah, no, might not help the no
look passes.

Speaker 4 (38:55):
I don't know that I would do Bears defense opportunistic
as we've seen, but they do give up a lot
of points, a lot of yards, a lot of opportunity.
But yes, Stafford working downfield could be uh could be
a problem.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
I really I I I want to pick the rams,
so I want to stick with the team I said
was going to the super Bowl. But this is you're
not just talking about overcoming your foe. You are overcoming
the weather. That's a huge advantage.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
Well, you're also divine intervention between Virginia McCaskey and and
the current Pope. I mean a lot of stuff going
on there and the old and me. Yeah, and the
old insurmountable force. The Pope didn't help the White Sox
at all. Don't know if you can expect help. No, no, no,
but they've got the number one paint, the White Sox.
But he got a good farm system. It's building, no

(39:40):
got it. He got an owner that's coming in. Yinsdorf
is opening the door, which means the wall it may
open up. Hope could have done more. They might not
just be the mystery team.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Saying the Pope could have done more to help us,
and he hasn't. Hey, the Pope has done a lot
for the Bears.

Speaker 4 (39:54):
No, he had, he's got to do. He's done a
lot for the Bears. Right now, does they sit on
the prepose PRESSU of Greatness?

Speaker 1 (40:01):
Welcome to Chicago Sunday night, boy, and a clear break
in the weather temperatures in the balmy sixties.

Speaker 4 (40:06):
The Rams have all changed back into short sleeves. Boy.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
We had a beautiful crisp night for you here. Should
really give the Rams a big advantage.

Speaker 4 (40:14):
Meanwhile, Mike Harmon is in a church going back through
the bad Lieutenant, Why where were you? Where were you?

Speaker 1 (40:23):
Exit out Vada Fresca at Swollendome. Coming up next week,
get back into the big breaking story of the night.
