Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome inside hour three The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon and and something we're gonna
get into in about a half hour. Mike Harmon has
kept his head about him after a baseball highlight he
just saw a few minutes ago. Just take it easy, buddy,
take it easy. I understand. I understand.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
I shot it in my timeline. You're in the middle
of an NBA breakdown. We hadn't got Rick Buker on
last hour. You'll be able to hear the whole conversation
in the podcast after the show's over.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
But I watched the replay no.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Sound repeatedly yeah, and I and I sat, I'm like,
I think I know what's going on here. And then
my brother texted me, he goes, have you seen. Yeah, no,
and now yeah, I mean I'm enraged. Yeah, it sounds
like you and the open to the hour, it just stinks.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah, no, no, I know it was Buddy was bad.
I'm sorry about that. Terrible, terrible, terrible and really really bad.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
But we'll get into the most controversial story of the
day in a couple of seconds. But first, the Oilers
and the Stars are going to double overtime. They are
going to double overtime because the best player in the
NHL somehow couldn't put a puck into an open net.
Connor McDavid is stoned in front by Jake Ottinger, who
(01:40):
just gets his goalie stick out and the net. This
is this is when they say wasn't even when someone
says the net yawns wide open. The net was yawned
wide open for Connor McDavid, who is eight. It was
not even less than ten feet from from the net,
and somehow he gets nothing on a shot and ed
and was able to on was able to get get
(02:01):
his stick out and get enough strength on it to
stop the puck from going over a stick. And now
we play on. I mean, this is this is the
best player in the NHL.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Bar Nune.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
This is Eric Lindross. This is he's a better Eric
Lindrass gets all the Gretzky comparisons and the Sydney Crosby comparisons.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
And I saw this.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
I said, oh, it's over, because when I see ninety
seven in front of the net, I know it's over.
And somehow he doesn't put it in. That was absolutely stunning.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Slammed it right into the vapor stick by Bower. There
you go, that's what it's all about, and falls harmlessly.
And they're showing a reaction shot as they're in the
intermission from outside Edmonton's arena, watching it on a giant
screen and just the looks everybody starts jumping. He's like, oh,
and speak of the devil. There's Wayne Gretzky, look at
(02:49):
the look at his basement. He just saw the replay
and he can't believe.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
What he saw. What ju see? Stolely, Hey, I didn't
see it? What did Juicy? WAYNEO?
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Ho?
Speaker 2 (02:56):
I didn't see it? What about you? Stoley?
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
I don't know, man. He's just shaking his head. He's speechless. Oh.
I love I love their I love their approach. Show
what do you got? Stony? Tell I can't believe that.
What about you way now? Oh yeah, yeah, It's just
some incredible keeper work there.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
I gotta say, uh, well, I really, I mean for
McDavid to not bury that is.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
A stunning got nothing on it whatsoever. Tried to poke
it was almost like he tried to poke it under
the stick and bad. I don't know, like I would
love to hear his explanation of what was going through
his mind.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
I just saw a wide hope and net and all
I had to do is try to just tap it in.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yea.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
It in like it almost looked like he kind of
was looking to just like like the old NBA players
like to make it look pretty, where I'm gonna take
the three and I'm gonna stand there with my hand
in the exit looks good, Yeah, going back up instead
of if I miss, I can go get a rebound.
It almost looked like he was ready to just do
that app in turn with his arms up. It's like
he doesn't go, he doesn't really go towards the nose.
(03:57):
He kind of just like, I'm just gonna tell and
and that's not enough. And I'm like, that's stunning to me.
The best player in hut.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Right the bottom of the U the goalie stick and
he's able to just jump right on it and he's.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Like, look what I found. It really is man, But you.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Know what it gives us, oh more hockey maybe. Uh
So again, we'll keep you updated on this. We have
about ten minutes until double overtime come. We'll tell you
what's on. Only in way you know and everybody else that's.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Never happened to me.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
No, uh but I mean, I'm watching the replay of
it right now. He goes from backhand to forehand, and
he's got all kinds of room, he's got all kinds
of time, and somehow he just did just nothing. He
waits so long and he gets nothing on the shot,
Like he tries to shovel it when he's just gotta
that's you know, you do that you do?
Speaker 3 (04:42):
You know?
Speaker 1 (04:43):
You know what I was gonna tell people when I
would coach kids, I'd tell am On that aim for
the water bottle. You are aiming for the water bottle,
but not go across the ground because that's where the
goalie is coming with his stick. You have to aim
for the water bottle.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Man.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
That was funny even in I mean Obviously it's in
slow motion as we're seeing the replay, but as goalies
slide back, he's got his stick off the ground and
he's still handling the puck. I'm like, wasn't he gonna
go underneath? Like he had an opportunity? He had a
little window there, and then I'll just kind of shuffled
it straight.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
It shuffled, it.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Zipped, it flopped it look not that I'm the same
player as Connor Dad, but I was really good and
I would have buried you were a scorer. But that's
what I was a decade I was. I was a score.
I was a glamor boy because I I was, and
I was, come.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
On, you're not because I no glamor boy.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
I was a glamor boy. I'm fierce. I was like
great because my big thing was I saw the play.
I knew where where the where the puck was going
to be. I could see where the angles were going.
I could see by a body language, uh what what
a defender was going to do, what a defense was
going to do. And that's one of those plays where
I go, I got it this, I know sight unseen
roof it this, you gotta roof it you can't when
(05:53):
when the goalie comes across, he comes across because the
best thing, the only thing to do. I gotta come
across on the ground or on the ice. I come
across on the ice because that's the only thing that's
gonna stop. He's got plenty of time to just take
it and just flip it up. He hits the water
bottle and the game is over. I mean that's I mean,
that's really I really am so stunned that we're still
playing this game. Chipped it, Nope, straight into the stick.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
And now I'm just gonna be thinking about living color
seeing glamour boys the rest of the night.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
I'm fierce. I'm a glamour boy. WHOA. The glamour boys
are always on the gas list. The glamour boys have
it all under control now nice.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
The new evidence came out today of the Scottie Scheffler arrest,
and it really does not look good for the arresting
officer for a couple of reasons. Right the Louisville Metro
Police Department has taken what they call corrective action against
Detective Brian Gillis because a he violated the department standard
(06:55):
operating procedure by not activating his body cam. And then
you see the video that's out there today where he
goes running after Scottie Scheffler's suv. He slams on the
on the hood. He yelled, he's screaming at him. He
sticks his head firmly into the driver's side like he's
like he's grabbing for something, and it looks like he's
(07:15):
acting like he's at a traffic stop and he just
pulled over someone who committed a crime and they were
fleeing from him.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Like that's the kind of attitude he had. Now I
understand that.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Look, you're trying to deal with a scene you don't like,
not you don't police officers.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
You have to listen to them, because if you don't
listen to police officers, okay, well what can you do,
especially a situation like that. They're trying to keep the peace,
they're dealing with a fatality, and sometimes when something happens,
and we don't know what the conversation was, because still
the video that comes out, we don't know what that
first conversation was between Gillis and Scottie Scheffler. But I'm
sure he was just mad that whatever was said, he
(07:52):
pulled up. He's like, whoa, I just talked to this
guy and he runs over and you can tell he's
really going too far with how he is dealing with
this situation right now. First things first, let's deal with
it with the bodycam part of it. Shock on no
body cam?
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Right.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
That's unfortunately becoming a theme where hey, here's something pretty controversial. Oh,
it didn't activate the body cam. And the thing is,
I mean, this is the game. If you're a police officer,
you may not like it. And I understand why you
don't like it, because this is the game. And I
don't mean because hey, I want to be able to
do whatever I want to do and not have it
come back to me. Bad cops are bad cops. But
(08:29):
the vast majority of police officers, I think they even
understand bodycam comes up. If there's a controversy over this
for whatever reason, I could be in the clear from
the department. I could be in the clear from everybody else.
But you know, there's gonna be people who are going
to say this was unnecessary, you didn't need to do this,
and suddenly my reputation is sullied. And all of these
things happen so I understand the philosophy of hey, if
(08:50):
you don't turn your body cam on, I get it,
but this is the game. This is how we make
things better when body cameras are on and for the
vast majority of police officers doing it the right way,
it's hey, you could see we did it here. But
when you don't do it, what happens? Oh why is
a body camera on? Even stuff way more serious than this,
obviously that we've seen in the last few years, but
(09:12):
this is the game. You kind of have to have
it on. I mean, it's not something that's really debatable.
It's like we need to know, we need to be
confident in the police. The police need to be able
to say, hey, we have your best interest at heart.
I mean, again, you may not like it, but this
is the game. Now, you got to have your body
came on.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
No, if you're equipped with a body camera at this point,
it's the mandate. Uh, it's the expectation. And in an
age where benefit of the doubt has been lost in
many ways and in many parts of the community. I'm
not saying everywhere, but it's it's the type of thing
where you know, it's the cross the t's dot the
(09:48):
eyes and make sure that that you're covered and full transparency.
That's the expectation at this point, right. And you know
you can argue about it to your blue in the face. Uh.
Some would say, you know, hey, you know the respect
for the authority has been lost altogether.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
And you can go down into very deep think tanks
and and thought processes with it, but it just comes
down to this, you avoid situation. Now, the fact that
this took a week and a half, this next angle
to come out, mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Well and these are all angles.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
These are all angles from uh objects close by, like
there's a light pole camera.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
It's still full. Nearly two weeks.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
That's a long time. That's an all a long time
for this. Now they don't want this, They don't look
good to corroborate.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
They dismissed what they have to do.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
And this is a guy that now people are going
to his record finding there were multiple suspensions and everything else.
But right in a in an age where you have
the technology for transparency, because what do we have when
we talk about things that athletes, coaches, whatever get into
as part of potential disciplinary action. What happens as soon
as video evidence exists one way or another. It stops
(11:08):
the argument.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Yeah, that's it. It moves.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
I mean remember the Ray Rice situation. Oh what happened?
Oh no, real, here's the account, here's the description of it.
And you're like, wow, okay, two game suspension. Then the
video surfaces, like oh wow, all right, this is a
whole other world that we're talking about. So here BODYCM
either helps to exonerate the officer, or at least it
(11:33):
would explain how things escalate, because you know, it's tense, right,
we could speak to that, to what blue in the face.
It's a tense situation. I remember at the base of
it all, a man lost his life that was there
to help work security that weekend. So you've got a
lot of chaos, a lot of cars moving, you've got rain,
you've got roads that are being overtaxed, right, a lot
(11:56):
of traffic coming through, and everybody wants to make sure
they're being heard. So that's like the beginning of the
first act of this. And then we get this videos
like okay, now, what's set what's the escalation that took
the car from this point to.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Where he's now visible? And Gillis gets up on the car.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
That's what we don't know what was there and like
what's the next escalation from there?
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Like that's the big thing. But that's what I think
we're not going to find out.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
And that's how I could see how this is going
to end, because it's that conversation that there's no there's
no record of. Was Scotty Scheffler just completely rude and
blew him off and that's why he got mad roll
or or was there a miscommunication and Scottie Scheffler drove
and the guy got mad because he felt he wasn't
listening to him. We're not gonna know what that is,
because that's the big thing, because now there's no real
(12:45):
question that, hey, did he overstep? Yeah, you saw the way,
you saw how aggressive the detective was towards Scotty Scheffler. Now,
with this getting out, I would have I would think
that sometime, maybe not tomorrow, but sometime very quietly, maybe
this week, and charges against Scotty Scheffler are going to
be dropped and we're gonna we're gonna move on, because
now you're talking about, hey, was this done not done right?
(13:08):
You're talking about lawsuits, and so I would think that
as quietly as they can over the weekend, maybe midnight
on Saturday, you'll find out, hey, Scotty Scheffer is no
longer charging this incident, and we are going forward, and
Scheffler will put out they'll, they'll, they'll, they'll get together
with each other and we'll put out a statement and
say this. You put out a statement and say this,
(13:29):
and we're gonna move on to put this behind him.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Scheffler's lawyer told reporters Thursday, quote, Scotty Scheffler didn't do
anything wrong. We're not interested in settling the case. We'll
either try it or it'll be dismissed. It's very simple.
All the evidence that continues to come out just continues
to support what Scotty said all along. This was a
chaotic situation and miscommunication and he didn't do anything wrong.
(13:53):
And again this is there's still some interpretation that needs
to be done. There right, miscommunication or not right if
the officer thought that he'd communicated, You know, you need
to sit and we'll parse this out, figure this out, whatever,
move forward. And Gillis doesn't come off looking good in
(14:13):
any way, shape or form, particularly as more incidents of
his past transgressions as an officer come to light, right,
So it's weakening the argument in any true lockstep defense
of him in this situation. But you know, the lawyer's
paid on behalf of his clients, so he's going to
(14:35):
speak to it in the most definitive terms he.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Can, and he seems pretty confident with Hey, we're either
going to trial to win this or it's gonna get dismissed. Like,
you don't say that unless you have a pretty good
idea of this is what's gonna happen the next few days.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Yeah, I mean, if nothing else, you know, if you were,
you know, doing the old giant well we just had pizza, right,
If you're gonna have a giant pizza, how much of
that pie would you say is now on the side
of towards dismissal. I would say the vast like the
amount of pizza that's been eaten off of that, there's
more pizza in my belly than Yes, there's more pizza,
(15:07):
I would say. You're more likely to a conversation about
body gams. You know, there's a mandate that they have
to beyond at all times when you're not on a
mule break or whatever. And then you go From there,
you issue an apology for the misunderstanding and whatever for
Scheffler's name, You have a violinist in the background, and
(15:29):
you move on. What really needs to happen, though, is
on that video, was there anything that said the eighty
dollars pants were irreparably harmed?
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Well, that's the thing I want to get into that
because now I didn't see where there was anything where
what happened to these eighty dollar pants beyond repair? Like
what happened to those paps? I mean, did he have
the pants because they got caught on a side mirror.
I don't know, but that's irreparable. I didn't see a
reparable pants.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Wow, I mean maybe there was a full split. Just
check that Onya Taylor joint dress that was making the
rounds or today where it was straight up the back.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
You've really made up eighty dollars pants being destroyed beyond
her pick? Had we really made that up? That's amazing?
Really having a rough time. I gotta track that eighty
dollars the guy's pants.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Come on, man, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Carmon Live from the ti Raq dot Com Studios.
Well after blowing it in overtime. It looks like Connor
McDavid had ended this in double overtime. Referees are looking
at the goal right now to make sure it stands.
We're getting the announcement. Connor McDavid and the Oilers take
(16:42):
Game one over the Dallas Stars three to two in
double overtime. McDavid, who again blew it in the first ot,
wins it here in double overtime.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
With a goal. We'll have more on this.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
And more on maybe the greatest television idea, the best
thing you could possibly see on TV.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
It's coming up next right here, Jason and Mike Fox.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Paulie Foosco here with Tony Fusco, you know, as the
host of the number one rated Paully and Tony Fusco Show.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
We get tons and tons of fan mail every day,
piles of it.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
In fact, Tony, why don't you open up one of
those letters right now and read what's inside? Hey, listen
to this, Dear Paulie and Tony your sports takes the
dumbest and most terribly not Wait, why open this other one?
Dear Paulie and Tony, you suck more than anyone. Wait,
try this one, Dear Paulie and Tony, you guys are
the absolute best.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
There you go, coming up with the stupidest take. Get it.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Just listen to the Polly and Tony Fusco Show on
the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Yeah, I'll let it wash over you. Let it wash
over you. One of the great songs of all time.
Wait what uh?
Speaker 5 (18:04):
Lee? I miss the Nicks in the playoffs. I'm sick
of the Pacers losing games.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
This is what I voted for from my prom song?
Why because the choices were YouTube or Linda Ronstad from
an American Tale And at the time I liked this
song better than Almost Paradise?
Speaker 2 (18:35):
How did it get down to those three choices? Is
really the question?
Speaker 1 (18:38):
I think they help cut out well, they hang on.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
I went to school with a lot of dopes.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
They surveyed kids in school and they wanted to know, Okay,
what do you think for your for your proms?
Speaker 3 (18:50):
And the only people that voted were the people that
didn't take it seriously.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
The best part of the song, Tyshir was the best
part of it. So you had the rockers like me
who said, okay, well, what's a big ballad rock song.
Nobody wanted bon Jovie like no, no, no, no no,
So we liked honestly it was a great song, Matthew sweet,
what a great song honestly is And then you had
everybody else in my classes.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Like you gotta have you too, man, that's the greateatest.
Somehow Linda Ronstadt from American Tail got in there. I
have no idea.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
And then you had Almost Paradise by Mike Reno and
Ann Wilson, which in later years I love that song.
It's one of my favorite songs. But I was like, okay,
so I voted Striper number one and Almost Paradise number two,
and of course you two winds up winning because I
had so many people just.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
In Clauss like, oh this Ben that stands for so much. Okay, okay, enough,
what do you want to you with or without you? Okay,
that's great, Yeah, that's great.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
So a song that celebrates it, that says, hey, I
can be okay with or without you. This is what
you want to be with the person you're on prom right, Honestly,
I believe in you and me with or without you
is not a great prom song. No, you might be
this problem with you. I could had this problem without you,
and it doesn't really matter.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Okay, just so you know, I gotta be honest.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
I would have been more likely to vote the U
two song out of The Simpsons where they were talking
about the greatness of the garbage man.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Hey, I could take I could I could. I could
take the the limo with my friends. I could take
it with Jump and Knucklehead Billy and Johnny and Jimmy
and Timmy. Or I could go with you. Okay, so
I could do either one. If you'll make me upset,
I will go with them, and then I don't know
what I'm gonna be back.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
I don't know. I want to be Maybe I'll call
you the next day we go to seaside. Maybe not.
I don't know, but that's it. I could go with you,
I could go without you. Come on, man, we didn't
get into that racket.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Oh we love limos is the best. We're all stopped
in traffic and there's somebody in the open window.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Going hey, who's in that limo? Who's in there? All right,
I don't know you, but yeah, who's in that lemo?
Who's in that lemo?
Speaker 3 (20:49):
That's what we did, Like I said, a bunch of dopes,
probably all on dope.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Uh no, no, no, no, I remember that was so
far as you know, that was my first That was
my first foray into how expensive drinks can be because
we went to this We went to this place that
was you know, would would serve you drinks and would
not ask you your age. So because it was a
prom and it was a prom, and they kind of
took it.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Easy on us.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
No, no, no, no, no, stop sto. No, this is just
a place where, hey, they knew kids were coming from
a prom. They were all going back on a bus.
So they so they did it. I'm not saying chicken
buffets in the back.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
It wasn't it wasn't coming up on stage three.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
It wasn't quote super legal, but they did it. Yeah,
this is no no x no, this is nineteen eighty eight. Okay,
So I'm going back a long time here, right, And
and so I go in and I'm gonna and I'm
gonna get drinks for me and my two best friends
and and the girls we brought to the to the.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Province said six drink if we dance with your so so,
six drinks. I go up.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
I go I'm gonna get drinks. I had forty dollars
with me for the night. Okay, you give you forty dollars.
That's like today, that's like today having one hundred dollars
with you. But I didn't have credit card anything, but
I had forty. I said, I'm good.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
I have forty dollars. We're good. We're good.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
So I go up and I order six drinks. And
what is And I was like, as what was in Alabama?
Slamming and whatever it was? I whatever you heard of
in a movie and the guy and the guy says okay.
He puts the six drinks up, and I'm thinking, okay,
twenty bucks. I'll tip them whatever I have that for
six drinks. And he goes, remember nineteen eighty eight. I
was nineteen eighty eight. And I go okay, and he goes, yeah,
that's thirty eight bucks. And I just look at him
(22:27):
and I hand them the two twenties. I go thirty
that's all my money. And he took the money, and
he took the two dollars out and he looked at me,
and I'm staring at him, like, that's all my money.
He just went give me a nod, thank you and
put it in his tip. Jar I may as well
just give you.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
The two dollars. But okay, here you go.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
So I go and tell my friends, hey, these six
drinks were forty bucks. My one friend goes, oh, I'm
not doing that. I go, no, you're on the hook
for six drinks. I don't give a crap. At the
end of the night, you got around, you are buying
six drinks. Whether I'm drinking half of them, you are
like six drinks. I was like, oh my god. But
again it was crazy. I'm like, wow, that was.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
One of those realized that needs to be established in
the friend group because there's always one or two uh
folks that are going to try to skate.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Yeah, I can't be having that. I was like, dude,
your bib was like, hey, man, everything.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
How they're getting a swinging neck breaker at the end
of the night.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Man, Uh the change that's not a drink. No, swinging
neck breaker is not a drink, maybe, but not what
I'm driving, Yeah, but I kind of like that a
swinging neck breaker. Oh yeah, what's in that? Man? That
sounds awesome. Well, let's see swinging neck breaker.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Uh, there's gotta be there's gotta be some kind of juice, right,
gonna be some kind of juice in a swinging neck breaker.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
I think we can actually create this, but.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
It's gotta it's got to be a drink you drink
out of a long drink almost like almost like a
like a giraffe's neck shaped.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
I found something called the Smith and Wesson. That's a
gun vodka.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Kalua and cream into a glass with ice and then
you add.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Some that's okay, it's the afghanies. No, I'm sorry, that's
a dog. That's Afghan. That's a shawl Uh.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
No, no, no, sorry, that's a that's a uh.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Tonight, we watched Edmonton just winning over time. Dallas is
down one zip.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Dallas decided to come out for the second the you
know what, let's go back.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
The Mavericks are up one zip in the Western Conference finals.
You want an idea for the best show ever? Okay,
best television show ever? Because I just ran an office
line with the whole Afghan thing because that was We're
binging it now still uh best show ever. A camera
(24:39):
follows Jerry Jones around office style as he comes to
grips and deals with the fact that every major sports
team in Dallas could play for a championship. This year
only knocked the Cowboys. We watched the Rangers win the
World Series. The Mavericks are three games from the NBA Finals.
(24:59):
It's early, Yes, their down one zi, but the Stars
could go to the Stanley Cup Final. I want to
follow Jerry Jones around as he slowly just loses it
because every other professional sports team in the Dallas area
is going to a to a championship round or final
except for the Cowboys. Like I think he would go
from god supportive of all the teams in Dallas to
(25:20):
going home going these.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Guys got to lose? What what? What? What? What? What
can I do here? Try to sure a loss like this?
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Gotta call him David Kid and tell them, hey, man,
ain't for the water bottle, You don't don't mess around
in front of the net, Like I think he completely
would on the surface say he's so happy for the
Dallas fans, but behind closed doors, like with a hidden
camera thing like that, all completely bad mouthing the teams
wanting them to lose.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Can't have any of them win from it.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
He's got people sitting there and doing readings and whatever else.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
That's why Luca only sometime limps because he's Jerry chad
By Jerry Jones. I haven't done that in a while.
Hang on a second, Oh, let me get you get
a tha there, Luca. All right, there's a he fell asleep.
That's why he maybe for the fourth quarter, he falls asleep.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
But I mean think about him.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Luka Doncich is limping uncontrollably, then looks really good, then
limps uncontrollably, almost as if someone is sticking a pincushion
into a voodoo doll. Time out, Jason Kidd. He wants
to talk it over.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
And he's looking around trying to figure out what the
hell's happening. But I mean, you can totally see Jerry
Jones in press conferences. He's doing the full uh, David Ortiz,
this is our leaping signe.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Oh yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Come on now. And then behind the scenes he's doing
everything he can. He's got spending millions of dollars on
every type of remedy. It's like, what's the anti sage thing?
Remember when Kyrie had the sage to kind of get demons?
How do we bring him in there?
Speaker 2 (26:47):
He is this?
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Uh Gary Bettman, Yes it is. Who is this? This
is Jerry. This is Jimmy Jones' son. Uh listen uh
uh McDavid get had the legal stick in the double
overtime click. Might want to go back and look at
that click he was offside. Oh wait that soccer was
(27:10):
Oh sorry, can't be off right? Uh but no, never mind,
never mind. Prank caller, prank caller.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Click.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Yeah, I think this could be a really fun experiment,
right because they're gonna do that what is it eight
or ten parts series on? Just take and put it
and put it right now and shoot this like, this
is what I want to We are watching the Rangers
and we go back. I'm sure we can find some
footage of them, of Jerry Jones from when the Rangers
were having their run. I'm sure he had to address
that in some interviews, or or maybe we can find
(27:38):
someone who just put a camera on them while they
were chatting with him. I'm sure that can surface either
that or ais. I mean, we got enough instances of
Jerry Jones saying some stuff that you know, we could
feed that into a machine and get some appropriate answers
to help fuel the fire.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Like you find him now and he's just wearing an
oiler's McDavid Jersey.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Oh you see that, that's pretty good. I like that.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
All right, Well let's potentially scratch one team car all right,
I'll tell you, hey, the Gretzky kid was good, but
I like this McDavid character.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
After. He's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
All all of a sudden, Jerry Jones is skating out
and he's got a McDavid's shatter on.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
I like the David mccott mcconnor kid. He's he's pretty good.
I'm waving a flag as he's. He's got a Canadian
flag and he's with.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Now he's wearing Anthony Edwards Jersey. Don't get tired. You're
twenty two years old. Everybody says he got tired in
game one. Don't get tired in game two. Can't get tired.
Come on, gotta get back in this thing, gotta protect
home court.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Handed him coffee, come on now.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
And the other guy is his name Anthony or carl
Or Towns I got what it. I don't understand. Well,
we said, oh, gotta get going, guy, I gotta get going.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Guy. Hey, don't touch the ball on the cylinder.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Okay, the cylinders, it's imaginary part up around that could
have bounced back and gone in. We need you to
make smart plays like that so you can eliminate the
Dallas Mavericks.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Here. What about that guy Hubert? You know it's go Bear,
Go Bear.
Speaker 6 (29:04):
No.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
I like Kubert. Cubert is good. I like that gig
go bing bing. Remember that game in the eighties. He
would just kind of go up and he would go
off the side. I can never can never get Kubert.
Can you ever make him jump? Just to hear the sound?
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Hubert and Zaxon, two toughest games. Couldn't couldn't figure it out.
Jaxon was in three D. Hubert I was jumping over
the top. Markum was kind of tough to you know,
gauge where you were.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Yes, it was so.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
I couldn't figure out the joystick for Cubert. I'm like,
I'm just going watch going bounce, bounce, and then over
the side.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
How do I go over the side? I don't understand.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Then they had a cartoon about it back when they
made a cartoon about every video game that came out.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
But just think about how great a show that would
be following Jerry Jones around, because it would be very
Michael Scott like, you know, what are the cameras on Michael.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Like how much?
Speaker 1 (29:49):
How great that would be because you know he does
not want anybody but the Cowboys to win.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
On the next episode. I mean, because I mean, just
think about that.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Obviously, yes, the NFL is dead, but you're thinking every
other team in your city, and there's thirty quote major
league cities across every sport but your city.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
You could have three teams playing for the finals and
not your team.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
They are over ten thousand days since the last appearance
in an NFC title game, and right now all of
the talk is about Dak and Dak getting paid. Dak
said he didn't care about money. Get me out a
four year, one hundred and sixty million dollars.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
You'll tell you what. I'll tell you he cared enough
for that one. I'll tell you what.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
If you see an NBA and Stanley Cup final where
the Mavericks and the Stars are in it, Dak's getting
one hundred million dollars a year from Jerry Jones. Hey, listen,
I don't want anybody talking about anything else. Dak here's
a hundred million dollars. Well I didn't really just take it, okay,
just take it to gotta take care of business. Get
the headlines here time right.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
And we joked about it yesterday Christmas Day because of
the all NBA teams. You start looking at guys you're
gonna be making eight he plus million dollars. It's there
Johova around the bend. That could be that guy desperation
as we know for Jerry Jones.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
In the offing time now to find out what's trending
in the wide world of sports from special Delivery, Steve
Garvey has what's trending, right, Steve de Garvey and Steve Degardy.
He's running for senate, Steve de Gary, He's ready to
get ready for the Senate this fall.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
He's got what's trending in the wide world of sports.
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (31:26):
I think in the NHL's West Final opener, Sorry, Corey Seger,
Corey Seger, that's who it is right here that might
off one closer.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Corey, Corey De Segery and Tom sever It tell us
what's trending here.
Speaker 6 (31:39):
Just a second ago, you were closer to twenty twenty four,
so i'll take it. In the NHL, we had Edmondson
in Dallas tied it to They had started a second
overtime Oilers for.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
Short in front of the score con mc david the.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
Redirector earlier the second overtime, the ad been Trailers win
the game.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
That's Kenny Albert with the call on TNT and that's
how the opener ended. Game two will be Saturday. New
York Rangers, seated number one in the East, will host
Game two of the East Final tomorrow against Florida, which
took game number one of that series. In the NBA's
East Finals, Boston beat Indiana again one twenty six to
one ten Jalen Brown with forty points. Celtics lead the
(32:20):
best of seven two games to none. Boston went on
a twenty to nothing run in the first half this evening,
and Tyrese Haliburton of the Pacers left late in the
third with a sore hamstring. He had eight assists. The
Cavaliers fired coach JB. Bickerstaff, he was under contract for
two more seasons. Toronto was awarded a WNBA expansion franchise.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
It'll start playing in twenty twenty six.
Speaker 6 (32:42):
Connecticut with a home win in overtime tonight against Minnesota,
Connecticut's son four and oh Charlie Hoffman as a one
stroke lead at Colonial, Scottie Scheffler shot at two over
seventy two in Major League Baseball, mostly day games. Today,
Yankee shutout Seattle five nothing solo homers for Aaron Judd
Gen Carlos Stan the win to Luis Hill, who's six
(33:02):
and won for the Yanks. He pitched six and a
third innings and saved to Clay Holmes. His fourteenth is
RA one point sixty four. But the Phillies have won
six in a row, their record thirty seven and fourteen.
After the Phills beat Texas five to two. Zach Wheeler
pitched seven innings for the win, the loss to Andrew Haney,
who's zero and six.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
He lasted three and a third. San Francisco scored.
Speaker 6 (33:23):
Five times in the top of the eighth and one
at Pittsburgh seven to six. Matt Chapman with a three
run homer. San Diego in ten innings won at Cincinnati
six to four. Fernando Tatist Junior the go ahead double
wins for Toronto Atlanta and for Oakland. Somehow five runs
in the bottom of the eleventh and the A's beat
Colorado ten to nine in eleven innings, and the game
winner came on a basis loaded walk. And then the
(33:46):
strange ending at Chicago, Baltimore held on to beat the.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
White Boys, Oh Boy eight six Orioles.
Speaker 6 (33:52):
The final White Sox made it interesting with four runs
in the bottom of the ninth, but things ended after
a pop up on the inn field and they ended
pretty suddenly in.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
They're calling him out.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
They're calling I believe they're calling the game over.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Wait a minute, NBC Sports White Socks calling game over.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
They're saying Andrew Vaughn interfered with Henderson at short.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
So, in other words, you get the batter out on
the infield fly rule and the runner at second is
ruled out because, according to MLB's rule quote, if any
member of the batting team interferes with the fielders right
of way to field a batted ball, declare the oup.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Don't think Gunnar Henderson had any difficulty catching that ball.
Speaker 6 (34:38):
Besidestep the runner pretty easily hite him in the infield
and make the.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Catch Adam playing short center field like it was a
softball game.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Oh boy.
Speaker 6 (34:46):
And it was pointed out on the telecast that the
runner at second for the White Sox never saw the
short stuff coming in behind him, So it's not like
he threw out his hip or anything like that. But
because let's put it in again the content next of
the rule, they interfered with the fielders right of way
to field a batted ball. In other words, he's allowed
(35:07):
to go in a straight line if the runners in
front and doesn't see him behind.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
That was the rule. Thank you, Steve Ell. Stupid interpretation.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Thank you for being so calm and the stupid the
face of a really stupid Jerkys, look at it this way.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
If you're gonna have a play like that, go your way.
This is the year when you're gonna win fifty games.
It's fine, it's just another loss. It's just another one
of the one hundred and fifteen losses you're gonna have.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
Yeah, but I do a weekly spot in Balton, and
I know question one of next week.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
I'll be happy.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
Jerks just reminded that I picked Gunner Henderson to win
al MVP.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
They'll love you.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Uh. The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike
Carmon Coming up next Eastern Conference Finals. Game two goes
to the Celtics. Are the Eastern Conference Finals over? We'll
tell you an nex Fox.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm East, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Live from Thetireck dot Com Studios. Celtics
Tonight thump the Indiana Pacers one twenty six ' one ten.
They take over in the second half. Tyre's Halliburton leaves
with a lower left leg injury and now going back
(36:25):
for Game two a Game three in Indiana. I'll tell
you what I told you last I'll tell you what
I'll tell you. I told you this when the knickser
up two?
Speaker 2 (36:35):
Is it? What did I say? Series is not over?
It's probably gonna go seven. Right.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
The Knicks are banged up, The Pacers are going home.
They're angry. They know their strategy, strategical things they can do.
Rick Carlisle, Chrime, the officiating. They knew we can still
outlast this team. We got to get the next two
but we can still outlast them because we're better, we're deeper,
and our pace of play eventually is going to come through.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
And they were on life.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
So Nemhard hits the miracle three that puts life back
into them and they go on to win the series.
But it is much different for them going back home
after this game, this two games against Boston where now
they're injured. You don't know what the deal for Halliburton is.
And the Celtics just went right at him tonight. That's
(37:20):
why he left the game. He couldn't move. They kept
running every offensive possession at Halliburton, saying just go at him,
just go at him. And he walked out of the
game saying I can't do it. I'm a liability here,
I can't move around, and he leaves the game. They
went at him but every single time, and I have.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
Questions about you know, whether he got hurt in Game one, Yes,
he wasn't terribly effective, right, but this is but this
is really the minutes he played before exiting tonight, right,
but this is where the Celtics saw that obviously, no,
just keep going at him. He can't move and he
had to come out and he had that the little
kind of mash up with Jalen Brown under the basket,
(37:55):
under the stanchion and just kind of backed off the
court like he.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Was like Homer going into the He was a Homer
and the wishes.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
Yeah yeah, yeah, And you send me that that that
jiff with the yellow guy. It's Homer Simpsons, show some respect. Uh,
you're going home now. Halliburton's hurt and you just get
pasted in game two. You have so many questions. And
the Celtics are a different animal than the Knicks. They're
a better team, they're more talented. This series is over.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
They're not hurt.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
This this series, well that wasn't missing Porzingis but still always.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Him. Yeah you did, I would be missing him, Bob.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
But yes, they they they they've been playing without him
for a while and it hasn't affected them. This is
a Pacers team that maybe they get one and but
this is over in five games because the Celtics are
just a completely different animal. And when you want to
look at the positives for the Pacers and say, okay, well,
hey they really should have won Game one.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
They gave it away. We feel pretty good.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
No, this is why I said last night Boston's gonna
beat them by double digits in game two because that
because people get Boston's better. They are much better than
the Pacers are. They proved they won the they won
the conference by fifteen games. Yes, does Boston give you
a game that that maybe they don't show up as
much for Yes, you know what that was. That was
Game one. That was the game the Pacers had to have.
(39:16):
That's not one of those times where you say, hey, wow,
this is great. Well, we really competed with them, We
were the better team. We kind of gave it away
at the end. No, Game two, the Celtics are going
to adjust. They're gonna understand. Okay, Pascal Siakam's a guy.
We got to worry about stopping. But let's make sure
we do X, Y and Z. We know we've seen you. Now,
we know what we need to do. You needed Game one.
(39:36):
That was the series. Game one was the series. So
when the Pacers look back at this and go, wow,
we got knocked out, it's not gonna be from the
perspective of oh man, yeah, look, we were thinking so
good after Game one. No, that was your missed opportunity
to make this a series. That's why the Pacers lost
because they blew game one, and you can't blow games
in the conference finals and expect to come back and
(39:58):
withstand that and get to the NBA.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
You know, it was great about it though after Game
one was that the Pacers gave it away and they
got all the headlines and Carlisle talking and everybody discussing
how they happened to blow the game as opposed to
you know, we went, you know, glass half full. Celtics
went and took it from you. You opened the door
(40:21):
and they walked in and they took your money. That's
exactly what they did. And that was your best opportunity.
Even with the twenty two turnovers, even with all of
the issues that you had down the stretch, you still
had a chance with ten seconds left to close it out.
And they gave you that home game that we talked
about had nauseam for every round coming into the playoffs.
(40:43):
The trust factor, Well guess what they passed with flying Colors,
because they stole that game from you and took it away,
and then they had bludgeing you today eight and a
half point favorite and win it going away exit out
about a Fresco exit swollen down the Jason Smith Show
with my friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
So yeah, get ready for the Celtics there by into
the NBA Finals. Continues, No Jimmy Butler, no Donovan Mitchell.
Now Tyre's Halliburton's hurt.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
Hey, you can see the Emerald City. It's right there,
right there, buddy.
Speaker 1 (41:14):
Coming up next, we'll have more on the biggest story
of the night, including a different take that you need
to hear about the Boston Celtics. Lots of misinformation the
last couple of days. What is it that's next? Right here,
Jason and Mike Fox
