(00:50):
of version posted right after we get off the air.
Now look a little bit more on Joelleenbeat before you
get to what is easily the best story of the day.
You mean baby Carlos. Oh yeah, Oh dude, those those
those memes of Mitchell Robinson with the dunk and him
in the him and the baby Beyord carrying him. Look
Darryl Mory is relieved from his duties running the seventy

(01:13):
six Ers Big NBA headline today and Nick Nurse is
going to stay. And we talked a few minutes ago that, listen,
you want to talk about the problem was the one
constant the past decade where the seventy six ers have
tried all kinds of different ramifications and combinations to get
everything unlocked, has been Joel Embiid. He hasn't even able
to elevate them to even a conference finals once. Right now,

(01:35):
it's not that Embiid is a bad player, It's that
Embiid is injured a lot, and you kind of get
what you get from It. Doesn't mean that he's not
uber talented and is terrific talent, but he's not someone
he's very difficult to build around, because, yes, the injury
situation becomes a big deal. When you can't count on
a guy, especially when it's not somebody that that that

(01:57):
that has the ball in their hands, it becomes really
difficult because, okay, for trying to get him the ball
now we can't. But the other part is that Embiid's
never been somebody that has made his teammates better he's
been someone who gets his right. Like that's a big
thing about Lebron the last few years is, look, Lebron
kind of gets his now. He doesn't make his teammates better,
which is why Lebron has worked as the number three

(02:18):
guy with the Lakers up until Luca's injury, because hey,
I can now kind of get mine and it's okay
because lucas the guy that's got to create for the
most part, Austin Reeves has to hit the shots. I
got to do a little bit of creating, a little
bit of scoring, little bit of everything, which is what
I can still do at forty one. So but Lebron
was a guy that kind of gets his so is
his days of elevating the team were over. But then again,

(02:38):
you don't expect the guy at thirty eight, thirty nine
to forty to do that. But that was Lebron, but
that's always been Joel Embiid Embiid. What a great stat
night for Embiid. But it's not like Embiid elevates the
guys around him, because if he did, they would at
least have gone to the Eastern Conference Finals once it's
been to an NBA finals. If Embiid is that good
and the best players find a way to make everybody

(02:59):
else better, then things would have been much better for
the seventy six ers. That's why that's the biggest mistake
has been boy building around Embiid. That's been impossible because
he's a difficult guy to build around. Not that he's
not talented, not that he's not good, but certain guys
you build around, certain guys that, hey, I'm a draw.
You can build around Luca, you can build around Steph Curry,
you can build around Jalen Brunson. There's a lot of

(03:20):
you can build around Cad Cunningham. There's guys you can
do that. There's bigs you can build around Nikola Jokic.
We've seen that it's worked for Denver, but Joel Embiid,
as we've seen, building around him hasn't worked because no
matter what they have put in alongside him, they've not
even be able to achieve. They get out of the
first round. In Philadelphia, it's like, oh my god, we're
out of the first round. We may as well put
up a banner. This is fantastic. Blake the Eagles. We're

(03:42):
the real team in Philadelphia. But that hasn't happened.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Well.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
When we talk about the ability of a big man
to act as a facilitator, right, your guy, Karl Anthony Towns,
how long he pushes down his feelings and his needs
to be a twenty point a game score goes with
the team's success because I think if suddenly they lose
a couple of games, guess what, he's gonna start pressing again.
We'll wait and see when that happens, if they make

(04:07):
the finals against Okay, say, or even in this next
round as they await the winner of this other Eastern
Conference battle. But when we look at Yokich, right, it's
not all about scoring, It's about facilitating. Joel Embiid is
a scorer. That's it. He's the classic big man in
that vein. And for Philadelphia to some degree, it's the

(04:31):
do you recognize sunk cost or are you just pot committed?
And I think for the city of Philadelphia, given how
long they waited for him to become Joel Embiid, the
promise of Joel Embiid with his foot injuries and the
meriad injuries through the years, like damn it, we're gonna
make this work. And we've signed him, So again we
are screwed. Right for years you and I have battled

(04:53):
on the show. It's like you need to trade him,
like who's taking that on? Yeah, when you have no
idea if he's going to be available April or for
the playoffs and even here, right, he had that huge
run in the first round. Guess what game two, he's
not there, right, And that's why, I mean, you can't
build around it, because that's that's one of the biggest things,
is that you don't know from game to game if

(05:14):
he's going to At this point, you have no choice. No,
that's not But now now now it's like, okay, we
have to run our team, like if he's there, it's
a bonus. And but we're paying him so much money.
You're stuck because how can you go forward. He's almost
and I hate to say it's weird to say, but
he's almost like a progress stopper, where because of the
money he gets, because of where he is. I mean,

(05:36):
are are Maxi and Edgecombe ever gonna get to the
levels they should be at because they have to worry
about getting the ball of Joel Embid or would they
need more of a guy like a Zubots down low.
That could help a little bit more, a big man
that doesn't need the ball as much, like is Embiid
really progress stopping it? Let's look at the way those
two guys got celebrated here across our network and certainly

(05:58):
nationally when Embiid was out of the line up, where
Maxie got to just go and operate and he didn't
have to worry about funneling the ball through Embiid, you
can take possessions where he ran and Edgecomb closest game
against the Knicks was when Embiid missed almost one. When
Edgecomb had everybody available, all the other starters. You saw
a lot of single digit point output right and he

(06:21):
didn't see the ball a lot. Maxie and Embiid and
then Paul George went available, they sucked up most of
the oxygen in terms of the offensive end. So you
had a guy finished third Rookie of the Year voting
and at times he was an invisible man. Yeah, I mean,
I mean that that's what we That's the point about Embiid.
He's so difficult to build. It's I feel bad for

(06:41):
the Philadelphia because they what else are you gonna do?
The guys that talented. We tried. We tried, but now
looking at it with a long angle lens, it's like, oh,
that didn't work at all. That really is not worked.
And now we have other new, better players that we
have to build around, and we're stuck and you have
three more years that you have to deal with it
unless you get to that final year and someone's begging
for a big guy because that we used to be
the theory, right I need I needed a guy to

(07:02):
run point. It's like we build a football team, right
they we need a protector, we need an attacker, or
we need a thrower here we need we always needed
a big man to help, you know, clog things up defensively,
and a guy that you can go to in the
low post. Well, if he's not there all the time,
it dies. And with the game evolving as it has
to the quote unquote positionless thing where Wenby is bringing

(07:24):
the ball up and shooting threes, Jokich is doing this
same and go on down the line and beads a
relic at this point exit about a fresco exit, Swallen doup.
The Relic was a pretty good movie. No, that's pretty good.
Uh was that in your horror front that was too late. Uh.
The best story of the day Crystal Fernandez, which you're like,

(07:49):
wait a minute, no, no, no, Christo Fernandez, that's the second
best story of the day. Also, know what's the best
story of the day. Luca is ready for Game five? Yeah? Yeah,
I think the money going out, money going down in
the Lakers for Game five is through the roof, right.
Christo Fernandez, also known as Danny Rojas from ted Lasso,
is now a professional soccer player. He is signed in

(08:13):
the USL Championship League for the El Paso Locomotive. This
announcement coming out today. He's good. He's a forward, just
like Danny Rojas is now. Christo had a career as
a youth in soccer. And and you know a lot
of the players in ted Lasso all have backgrounds in soccer,
A lot of them do. But he got injured when

(08:34):
he was fifteen and he wasn't able to play anymore.
And now here he is, he's acting. He's in his thirties,
you know ted Lasso, and now he's gonna get a
chance to play for the next couple of months with
the El Paso Locomotive. Now I gotta say one thing.
If you're gonna do this right, it's one thing you
want to really take advantage of this. The name on
the back of the jersey is not Christo, it's not Fernandez.

(08:55):
The name on the back of the jersey is Rojas.
He does all his interviews like Danny Rojas. When he
gets the ball, he's miked up for every games. When
he gets the ball and he's dribbling, he's going Danny Rojas,
Danny Rojas, Danny Rojas like that. You got yes, Oh,
that's every death, every interview football but football. But that's
every he interviewed him before the game, and that's what

(09:17):
he says. He is Danny Rojas. He cause plays as
Danny Rojas. And I say, the minute you step out
of character, this contract is null and void. You are
Danny Rojas on this team. You are not Crystal Fernandez.
We are not here to win. We are not you
are Danny Rojas. We are putting butts in the seats.
We are selling, we are selling tickets. You're gonna take pictures.
We're gonna make cash here because it's the l Passo locomotive.

(09:40):
Every dime counts, and I mean him, you step out
of character once, just one time, and I'll have you
on a bus all the way back to England where
you can hopefully get there for the filming of the
end of ted Lasso for the new season coming out.
That's what I'll do to you there. Rojas. Well, and
that's the question that needs to be asked. Owns the rights?
Can he call him self Rojas? I mean, this is

(10:01):
like a WWE wrestler right losing his contract or her contract,
and now you're going to the indie circuit. Do you
own the character name or do you have to come
back as somebody else? In this case, he might not
be able to use Danny Rojas without an agreement where
a bunch of money goes back to Bill Lawrence and
Apple TV. Oh, I think they'd be and everybody else,

(10:23):
I think they'd be alright with it. I think he'd
be okay with it probably when everybody wants and everybody
wants to get fed. Look, everybody wants to get fed.
They're not doing that for free. But I don't even
know if he's in this season because now the new
season they're co coaching women's team, So I don't even
know if some of the players I know that Phil
Dunster's not in because he's in rooster and he didn't
make it, so he's not in this in this season.

(10:44):
But like, I don't even know how many of the
old players are going to be in because it's now
a women's team. So maybe Danny Rowass isn't even this.
Maybe it's like, hey, let's do him a favor. The
guy was great, and let let's let him. Let's let
him run with the own. Sorry it was the Obasanya
jersey that was in the trail. Yeah, it's like get
for you Smith. Football is life, Football is death, but
also football is live. By the way, Saturday at Live

(11:06):
UK was uh Hannah Waddingham this week? Oh okay, quite good,
all right, good couple of chances to saying there's a
couple of really good sketches. But yeah, I mean, certainly
you you have to figure out that part of it
and lean into it. There'll be a bobblehead night, no
doubt he'll be signing a lot of autographs. You hit it,
you hit the bibblehead, and it says Dannie Rojas, Dannie Roha.
The fact that I don't already have one on a

(11:28):
desk in front of me is that's every interview, Like
every interview is the same with him right before halftime ago, Hey, Danny,
can we get a quote from you? Hey one nothing
in the first de f what do you think football
is live? And he loves that? Okay, thanks Danny, all right,
we'll be back right after this. I mean, I don't
even know are the games on team the guy that
just wanders in, Well, they might be now the I'll

(11:50):
pass a look about it. Even on television, I think
if you're Apple TV, you lean in and you sign
a deal to where you get to watch him. And
now let's force feed you some commercials for the upcoming
season of ted Lasso. See now that's what we're talking about.
Less synergy. You let him take a penalty.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
Yeah, imagine did you like the Ron Burgundy thing and
have Ted Lasso come coach a game?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Oh see, now now you're thinking, Now you're think watch
some next level stuff. The other day, I'm sitting and
I'm going through, uh some of the mountains of uh
just materials collected through the years. There's magazines and whatever else,
and uh, I watched Mother's Day. In that movie, Jason
sdeikis coaching his daughter's soccer team. Art imitating art just

(12:32):
kind of crazy, Jason. You know who could have used
ted Lasso last night? Lakers, you want to put in? Hey, uh, hey,
here's the thing, coach Beard, we need a three right, yeah,
so why don't we put our best three pointer in?
Oh that's a good idea, coach. All right, thanks, that's
that's good. Yeah, I know, all right, let's not go
in there and uh you know, hey, guys, let's do
the best you can, right, just just get out there
and have fun. Just have fun. But yeah, I would

(12:55):
lean into this as much as I can. Yeah, I mean,
maybe you have a guy dressed up like venom at
some point because he was in Nay. I mean there's
a lot you can do. No, you know, Lebron's older
than molasses. But that's just I want to see there
a moment where they let him take a penalty and
he's he's warming up to take a penalty and then
all of a sudden like trotting out is like a

(13:15):
guy with a dog, and he just stands there, and
you're like, that's not gonna happen, is it? That's not
gonna lie? What what? That's not gonna happen what you're doing.
It's like the curtain of distraction come to life. Walking
out with a dog. I mean it cosplayers, Dad. I said,
you step out of character just once, just let me

(13:36):
let me see you do it, just one time, and
I will tell you are not gonna want to come
back in this office. I tell you. The one thing
that can't happen. You can't get a haircut. Oh no, no, no,
it doesn't work. Yeah, yeah, yeah, football is life. Football.
He shows up with with two like in the in
the finale, he's got a woman on either side. Yeah,
he kisses each of them before he goes on the field. No,
I like that. No, that's good.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
Jason bringing Roy Kentz to call game.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah right. What's being said the
locker room right now? How the blank should I know?
I'm not in there. It's one of the best scenes.
Dennie row Hus Dennie rows about Live coming up next. Hey,
a new level of dominance for one star. We break

(14:18):
it down. It's not Lebron, that's Max Fox.

Soccer is Live, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show
with My best friend Mike Harmon Soccer is also death
football is live. We're going to overtime in Vague. The
Ducks and the Golden Knights tied at two apiece. The

(16:06):
series tied to two a piece as well. The Ducks
get a goal with three minutes to go, and now
we're heading to overtime. Solani to Korea. Boy, great, great
top shelf shot. Let me tell you Corey Perry also
as well. Let's go all great players in the Ducks pass.
You can see how I just, oh my god, I
just said it. Literally said it ten seconds ago, right

(16:30):
after you yelled for I said, Paul Korea, and then
ten seconds later you go, Paul Korea. He didn't think
he got his Just dude, that you can kind of listen. Listen,
let me tell let me tell you something worst wrestler ever,
Ultimate Warriors, let me tell you something from from from
my from my experience. Okay, tysher being alive fifty five years,

(16:53):
let me tell you this. Helping you, No, I'm helping
you out now. Related fake. The only time my wife
and I ever disagree about stuff, we ever get on
and we ever get into something where I'm like, where
she gets upset with me is when she says something
and ten seconds later I say it because we're having

(17:17):
a conversation and I was doing something on my phone,
right or not paying attention, and I say it like
she would say, like if she says, hey, what do you
think about go to the movies on Friday? And I'm
on my phone like texting Frostburg or harm or whatever. Yeah, yeah,
Friday's good. What about Devil Wears Product too? Yeah? That's good?
What about Sheep Detectives? Didn't you want to see that one?
I say, yeah, maybe, all right, yeah so Friday night? Yeah,
oh what about what was that movie? Wanted to see?

(17:39):
Sheep Detectives? And She'll look at me and go, I
just said that, And I'm like, well, you said no,
you said Deviaware's product too. When you said you said
she I didn't hear you say sheep Detectives because you
were on your phone. You were paying attention. And now
it's like the next ten minutes is terrible, and you
want to say it. Next ten minutes is bad, man,

(18:00):
Go ahead say it, ty Shirt. So I want to
tell you pay attention when someone says something ten seconds
before you think you want to say something, right, just
wait just okay, wait a minute, wait a second before
I say something, Before I say something, let me just
say something. Hang on, let me just did you maybe
say something about this ten seconds ago. I'm just gonna

(18:24):
just nod my head and say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, No,
good idea, good idea. Not gonna Why am I going?
Why am I gonna not gonna go it? I'm not
gonna do I'm not gonna do it. So Pam and
I have something in coffee. You When you say something
I don't like, I just ignore. Like that's that's the
whole thing. Like I just I just put put out
that that persona that maybe I'm not paying attention, but

(18:46):
I really was, And I just want to go past
it and move on to something else. That's all.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
Jason, Yeah, Paul Korea, Yeah he did it, dude, top shelf.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
You know I'm saying, Steve, I was good. Hey, Frosburg, Prosburg.
I gotta great. Paul, George stad for you. I got
You're number one. Jason.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
Yeah, I want to see a movie Friday. Yeah yeah,
what do you want to go see?

Speaker 6 (19:10):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah no we
actually we didn't. We didn't go see Sheep detectives. It
was probably the smartest movie you've ever seen. It was, well, well,
it's about it's about Alert. It's about Alert that's solve
a murder and it's live action and it's about the
sheets solved. And this is you know, going in they
saw Hugh Jackman who was Jackman, who was their shepherd.

(19:33):
He gets murdered and the sheep helps solve the crime.
It's got a big cast. It's got uh Claire Bear
from the Bear, and it's got the guy from a
Succession in it. Emma Thompson is in it right. It's
got a pretty big cast voice cast. It was entertaining
and fun and a little different. It just wasn't so funny,
like if a little bit more. Brett Goldstein, who plays

(19:53):
twin sheep, why don't you just spoil the whole movie
while you're didn't say who did it?

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Steve's upset you.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
I know I didn't solve him. I didn't say who
did it. The sheep know, the sheep solve. They helped
solve the murder. So it's another animal. Maybe maybe you're
a sheep. Maybe maybe you're a sheep, or it might
be the guy from the TVA just come to get him.
But here it was it was Wolverine living out retirement
as a shepherd and he comes and finds him. But

(20:22):
like it was interesting and it was stuff you could
follow along, and you can. But that's the thing is,
like it was interesting and you could follow along because
it's a mystery. It's you're trying. It's a who done it?
And there's clues there you can follow. Oh, the sheep
all talk, yes, of course the sheep. It would be
a bad movie if the sheep didn't talk. I mean,
well they all sound like who they's like. Julie Louis

(20:43):
Dreyfus is Julie Louise Dreyfus, and uh Patrick Stewart. Yeah,
she's She's the main sheep. She's the main sheep. What
if you wanted to guess whose voices were there, like
you do with commercials, maybe say I don't know, stacked.
Maybe that gets him in the door to see the movie. Oh,
Julia Louis Dreyfus is the main sheep. Okay, you know

(21:05):
played at Northwestern really really you know, you know Matthew
Stafford and Clayton Kersher went to chow Dares. You know
that Jeff Fisher's on the competition committee. He was is
he like Competition Committee emeritus? Now ryfuz Patrick went to Harvard.
He's smart and he forced his kid to learn a
lot of math. You know, you know he's a smart quarterback. Hey.

(21:28):
He also was really smart to hang around for over
a decade. Danny row Now we talked about We talked
about Danny rowasson minutes ago. But another this is sad
moment from the world of of movies, very sad. Donald
Gibb passed away today at the age of seventy one,
big time actor, most well known as playing Ogre from

(21:50):
the Revenge of the Nerds movie. We played the drop
here all the time to touch bugs, go Nerds. I
mean that's Donald Gibb. That that that's Ogre and rip
Ogre has been trend now for the last hour. And
that's why like r I p O because he's so identifying.
There's him, that's not that's him playing Ogre in Revenge
of the Nerds. And and obviously it's for people of

(22:12):
a certain age you grew up that was an eighties movie,
and then Revenge of the Nerds too, I think that
was in the nineties. But he's so identifiable as as
that as that character Ted Ted McGinley was the quarterback,
because they're all on the football team and he's on
the football team and Ted mcginley's a quarterback and Goodman's
the coach John Goodman's That's my favorite scene in the
movie is when they're all he's he's giving them a

(22:32):
speech and the nerds all put uh like Tiger baumb
and the jockstraps, and it's all hot and they're going
ah ah ah and they're all standing up and they're
they're running the jogging and John Goodman goes, all right, guys,
now get out of here, go shower, and they all
run to the shower and John Goodman just goes, oh blank,
we forgot to practice. Yeah it's us Marshals blood Sport

(22:54):
one and two. Oh yeah, blood Sport. Yeah I forgot
about that now.

Speaker 7 (22:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Yeah, you know there's so many people when I go, oh,
you know they were in blood Sport. Oh they were, Yeah,
you forget this on it's a secret. They didn't know
where the battles were. Oh yeah, come a day. Yeah,
that's probably why. Okay it right right, like getting to
Sesame Street. Can you tell me how to get to
Sesame Street. I don't. Can you tell me? Now? You

(23:18):
got to keep that a secret sunny day, sweeping the
clouds away on the way to where the air is sweet?
Can you tell me how to get? How to get,
how to get, how to get? How to get? Uh
so again? Rest in peace again A you know, great career,
incredibly fun character. Donald Gibb at seventy one years old.
We have more coming up in ninety seconds where we
are going to break down a new level of dominance

(23:41):
for one superstar. However, first special delivery, Steve de Seger
has what's trending in the wide world of sports. I
realize I'm going to you at the absolute worst time
because the Dodgers have the bases loaded in the bottom
of the eighth inning and one out and the one
guy that it's actually hitting with some level of consistence,
and I know you're hoping to watch that first, So
I apologize. No, that's okay.

Speaker 7 (24:02):
The Dodger offense has been the opposite of the dominance
that you're about to talk about the last few weeks.
The Dodgers record is nine and thirteen since they started
the season fifteen and four. They might be losing their
fourth straight game. They're down six two at home to
the Giants. One out, bottom of the eighth and bases loaded, maybe.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Mega two outs. Max Munsey just struck out looking for
the second out of the inning. So I don't know.
I don't know why you didn't challenge that that looked
off the plate? Are they out of challenges? The Dodgers
out of challenges because that looked off the plate? That?
I do not know.

Speaker 7 (24:34):
Because Mounsey usually has the best eye on the team,
They're not They have not lost a challenge tonight.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Well, the Giants are getting scared, Steve.

Speaker 7 (24:42):
The Giants with the worst offense. I mean, this is
the hardest team to score a run. Even the Mets
have a better offense than the Giants. Yes, yes, and
yet the Giants are just killing it the last few days,
and the Mets scored ten ten to two over Detroit tonight.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Ewing, did you watch Tigers play defense at all tonight? Yeah?
Well I was that good field.

Speaker 7 (25:04):
A lot of those runs are unearned, so it's like
playing O'Neil Cruz all over again.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
I'll just tell you this. Boba Schett with the bases
loaded in one out in a tie game, hit a
double play ground at a third and Workman just wanted
to make sure the right fielder was paying attention, which
is why he threw the ball instead of the second
base into right field. That brought in two runs. Just
just saying threw the ball into right field, you say, yeah,
I just wanted to make sure that he was paying attention.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
Well.

Speaker 7 (25:30):
Making his major league debut was aj Ewing. He had
a triple and three walks in that Mets victory. Atlanta
wins yet again Dominic Smith, former Mets prospect, four for four,
Braves five to two over the Cubs. Braves catcher Sean
Murphy could miss up to two months with a broken finger.
Cubs offense tonight in Atlanta went one for twenty eight.
The one was an Alex Bragman solo homer. The White

(25:52):
Sox got a pinch solo homer bottom of the eighth
to beat Kansas City six to five. Milwaukee won its
fifth straight game, six four over San Diego. The Padres
were alone and first in the NL West half game
over the Dodgers, they might still be at the end
of this evening. Minnesota shut out Miami three nothing the
win to Bailey ober who pitched a complete game two
hitter with eighty nine pitches thrown, a Maddox so rare

(26:16):
these days, seven strikeouts, no walks for ober Texas was
up seven to one in the night.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Oh TJ. Clearly that game was ober very quickly.

Speaker 7 (26:26):
J Yeah, more the under than the ober Texas seven
to four over Arizona Seattle one, ten to two at
Houston Dominic Canzone five RBIs including a Grand Slam, and
the late game in West Sacramento has Saint Louis up.
Just doesn't sound the same, doesn't I don't Saint Louis.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Let's go live to West Sacramento to get the latest
on this.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
Well, it's not Sacramento because if you go to Sacramento,
there's no game there. It's not where the Sacramento Kings play.
It is I believe, I believe west of there. Yes,
there are, according to Phil Jackson, a whole lot of
cow bells there. Cardinals are leading six' four at The
a's with two outs in the. Ninth railey O'Brien apparently
giving up yet another run tonight as The cardinals Closer

(27:09):
philadelphia And pittsburgh with Wins Tampa bay and The yankees as.
Well San Antonio spurs are up three games to two

their first round series as. Well back to you.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Mag You, steve, though so tonight we nearly had a no.
Hitter Paul skemes took his no hitter into the seventh.
Inning he is the only player this year to carry
multiple no hitters into the sixth inning or. Beyond remember
that first start of the, Year jason's that's. It that's
the best part of The mets. Season that first start

(29:13):
of the year where they Knocked skeens out in the first.
Inning everything else there is just stunk well until tonight
till a j ewing came Up Paul skeens because we
kind of forget a battle because he had such a
rough start that first game in The pirates as much
as they were staying afloat now still last place, Team
Paul skins in his last eight starts has allowed eight,
runs five of them in one game that he still

(29:35):
wound up winning eight games eight. Runs right, tonight he
struck out the first five. Batters the sixth batter tried
to bunt to get on, base, Right i'm gonna break it,
up got booed by the. Fans But skeens after he
bunts and you know they throw him, out he, says,
hey nice try or nice bunt as he's walking off the.
Field So skein's had some fun with. That, well BUT i,
mean look that guy gets it down. Safely you never

(29:57):
know how things could potentially. UNRAVEL i, mean it's a
k crazy, game, man he. Is he has now hit
a as as much as, dominance we've we've talked about
schemes being dominant the last couple of years and, absolutely
but he has now hit a level of dominance that
we haven't seen Since Jacob deGrom in his heyday with The,

(30:18):
mets where every start was a no hitter, possibility where
you knew it was gonna be one run or. Less
skens is at A deGrom like level of dominance and
he's still twenty. Two he Disrespect, skins, Right, no, Dude
Jacob deGrom was the best pitcher in. Baseball well that's whole. Thing,
yeah De grom came up by the time he was.

(30:38):
Great by the time he was this, great De grom
was thirty years, old, Right because De grom came up
as a. Shortstop he played a shortstop in college At,
stetson became a pitcher later in his. Career he didn't
come up to The. Mets he was twenty, six twenty
seven years. Old so he's not this good until he's.
Thirty Paul, SKEINS i mean he's just starting. OUT i
mean that that that's how good the guy. IS i,

(30:59):
mean he's this leg level of dominant already in his baseball.
Career because there's dominance and there's, ay this guy's really
good and he's winning games and all. This but then
there's being a de gram type dominant at the age
of twenty. Three that, IS i, mean now you're, watching
without a, doubt the best picture in baseball and, play
and not just the best, picture but the best picture

(31:19):
at an, elite best of the best level that we're
seeing er one ninety. Eight he's allowed or three or
fewer hits in all but one start since that. OPENER i,
mean that's how insane this has been the level of.
Dominance and now you're you're into rounding into full season,
four which allows you to extend to the, seventh, eighth
perhaps even the ninth inning on. Occasion but he's done so.

(31:43):
Efficiently you're seeing the strikeout raid is, up and he's
just on all, cylinders like he's a must watch every fifth,
day as much as you may have to work a
little to find the pirates On Skeen's, day little something. Extra,
again they should have boughtom that baseball. Card man all
goes back to the million dollar card that could have
bought you a lot of good, will and instead it's

(32:05):
all the still photoshopping him into the other. Uniforms but
in the, interim as long as the offense actually gives
him one run you feel like you could. Win. NO i, mean,
really that's. It one run feels like a, lot like
if you get one off of, him you gotta make
it stand up, right and as if you didn't want
something else, right you want to know the great set
like eight last, starts eight. Runs he has not walked

(32:27):
a batter Since april thirteenth Against, washington when he walked.
One one walk Against, washington none Against, tampa none Against,
milwaukee none Against Saint, louis none Against. Arizona he has
not walked a batter Since april in a. Month he
has not walked a batter for the, season sixty six
strikeouts against seven. WALKS i mean THAT'S i mean you
talk about a level of dot Where i'm not gonna

(32:48):
there's there's throwers That i'm gonna strike out a, lot
but my pitch count's gonna be high BECAUSE i work
the count all the time AND i walk a few.
BATTERS i mean that that you talk with all the,
numbers he hasn't walked a guy in a, month and
every start is at least seven, innings, seven, five, eight.
Eight it hasn't walked a guy in a. Month that's
the level of. Dominance he is at like there, again there's,

(33:10):
dominant there's playing really, well and then there's this which is,
wow like we we have not seen this in a few.
YEARS i, mean, really he's at The grom level of.
DOMINANCE i know this is this is fun to, watch,
exciting especially when you get to talk a Little pirates
baseball because it always allows us to have the memories
Of Kent cove and The Candy man and And stargel
And parker and The. COBRA i, mean obviously The, Cobra

(33:32):
Dave parker and so. On doug Drey, Beck, sure, yeah
it's gonna be such a Great dodger. Man just how
long is? It is it a? Season utill he's a?
Dollar it's like every home Run america conty it's In.
Chicago it's like he's there for two. Years how Luck
dodge'll just give Them. Sasaki that's just me balls exit

(33:53):
about A fresco Exit Swelling dome coming up. Next the
worst question that's being asked about Le Bron james following
The lakers. Elimination that's. Next jason To Mike Fox Sports, radio.

Fear thrives in silence and confusion. Ana Navarro rejects both. Her voice is an antidote to today’s chaos. Her new podcast, Bleep! with Ana Navarro, takes on today’s most pressing issues with the voices most connected to it: decision-makers, political leaders, cultural shapers, and people on the frontlines of the story. The conversations acknowledge the emotions we all feel—despair, sadness, fear— but emerge with knowledge, perspective, and hope. The belief is simple: fearless dialogue can transform fear into courage, and courage into change. When fear dominates the headlines, this show digs deeper. Because information, debate, and conversation don’t just ease fear, they give us power to shape the future.
