You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hello, Welcome in Side hour three The Jason Smith Show
with my bes friend Mike Hart live from the Tirec
dot Com studios. Tirec dot Com will help you get
there at unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended in stallers. Tirec dot Com
is the way tire buying should be. And boy, is

(00:51):
there a fun one happening right now? Well, I mean
kind of now or not? If not, If you're a
Dodger fan, a big Dodger lead that has seen show
how Tani, you have a game in which he is
a home run number forty seven on the night and
steel base number forty eight. Dodgers and the Cubs are
tied at seven apiece as the Dodgers are batting in

(01:12):
the bottom of the fifth inning. Again, I don't want
to say I told you so, but man, when October comes.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Pitching is gonna be really really important for the Dodgers,
and they don't really have a lot of it. It's
gonna be really really important, especially when they play the
Mets in the first round and the Mets have a
better starting rotation than the Dodgers will because Manea, Peterson
and Severino are better than any three people the Dodgers

(01:44):
are throwing out there, that's for sure. I don't know
why I didn't Legs felt they need to do that way.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
I don't know. It was a little odd, but you know,
that's cool. It's an odd night. Tyser's playing balaro music,
so I mean, no, that's fair. That's that's that kind
of night. That's fair. I really thought there was going
to be the opportunity for Bobby Miller to get out
of the fifth, gets the strikeout, Betton Court to start.
Then Crow Armstrong, one of the heroes of this series

(02:11):
for those that you know hadn't seen him much. Perhaps
Cubs while they're competing, they're not getting this normal national juice.
But in a big spotlight game yesterday, a couple of
big plays in the outfield, he singles, you know later
on in the in the inning, but you get it
started a hit, a walk, a flyout, and then the
pitch to Bellinger that looks like it's sailing behind, like

(02:34):
he's late on the swing, and then he just hammers it.
And there's this pause where like okay, and you look
at the crowd and they lose it. And then by
by the end of the fifth, pitching change everything else.
You get another error where subtly fielding has also gone
to hell for the Dodgers these last couple of days.
And now you're tied seven to seven, after what looked
to be at least a sizeable lead that you were

(02:56):
going to get into Dave Roberts management of the bullpen
and to massage you through, and you didn't even get
to that shoeyo, Tan, He's just flown out to center field.
End the fifth inning, So Cubs and Dodgers seven to
seven going to the sixth look out, Well, I mean,
you got a lot of runs. So I mean, at
least if you paid to go to the Ballyard today
or sitting down watching it on your cable channels and relaxing,

(03:20):
maybe with a nice beverage while listening to us. You
got runs, yeah, no entertainment like a lot of run.
People complain about pitching duels sometimes here. No, no, not
at all. I don't like it. I like it back
when final scores were one to nothing, when Jack Morris
would pitch all eighteen innings for both teams, but it
would be done in two hours and eight minutes. Let

(03:42):
me finish by Jack Morris line before you jump in,
because people missed the big punchline.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
But that's okay, because I'll just punch you instead.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Three old man six home runs in this gime g
four in the first the Dodgers. Yeah, four in the
first inning. So again, shoe hooton nearing fifty to fifty.
He is at forty seven and forty eight right now,
and fifty to fifty will clinch him the nl MVP.
Do you think he gets that fiftieth steal by the
end of the night out of spite?

Speaker 2 (04:14):
At this rate?

Speaker 1 (04:15):
He might get you more at bass if he doubles.
He'll steal first base just so we can go to second. Oh, now,
can you do that? I'm sure you can't me and
you steal first base, go back, say you can do that. Sure,
we'll do it. Is it actually written in the rules?
You say, saying, blank, you Lindor home run to break
up a no hitter in the ninth inning. I see
your home run of the ninth to night, raise you
a bunch of stolen bases another home run, so you're

(04:37):
not going to win the MVP. They take that, Lindor, Well,
stolen base and a home run tonight, saying, well, like
you to Lindor, look und you for three to three RBI.
Lindor will be very happy to finish second. Yeah, in
MVP voting, and be very happy. It's the highest met
we'll ever finish. He's having the best season a met
position player has ever had.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
And he's finishing seconds. I know how great is that?

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Look? And I'll say to you this is this is
the thing about this is more about Otani than it
is Lindor. Because once in a while, not all the time,
do voters in Major League Baseball, when they vote for
MVP Cy Young, they decide.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
It's almost it's almost like voters.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
In baseball for big awards are like the playoff committee
in college football or the playoff committee in college basketball,
where they can take anything they want to and turn
it into a big deal or ignore it completely, right, like, hey,
what was your what are the big quad one wins
a team has had? And then to try to get
them into the nca tournament and then oh no, it

(05:44):
doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
They had many more quad two.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Wins and beating team. So they can take whatever they
want to and any given year and make it a thing, right,
Quad one wins, wins on an opposing floor, top twenty
five wins, whatever it is. They can take whatever they
want to to make an argument for or against a
team they want to get in the tournament or in

(06:07):
the playoff, or against the team to keep them out
of the playoff. It's not consistent, and that's been always
been the biggest thing with any sort of committee that
selects playoff teams or teams for a tournament. It's like,
you're not really consistent with how you break things down.
It's the same thing with voters in Major League Baseball,
because the reason Francisco Lindora is gaining on Shoho Tani

(06:29):
is because he plays the field, and not only that,
he plays every day, he plays shortstop and he's a
really good defensive shortstop, probably in the top three short
stops in the league. Most of his defensive metrics are
in the top five at the position. So when you
throw that in there, okay, Lindor all around season, sometimes
voters are gonna say, yeah, I don't care about that,
and they won't and they'll just blow it off and

(06:51):
say I don't care about that. Other years they'll decide, oh, no, no, no,
we have to make this a thing because Francisco Lindor
does play every day, and he plays shortstopped, and he's
really good at the position. And oh, by the way,
Shoeyotani hits four times a game. So they could choose
to make it a thing, or they can choose not to.

(07:11):
That's the only thing that's really out there for Lindor
is that if they decide to make it a big
qualification this year for whatever reason, the voters are Antiotani
or or for anything, they can make that one of
their reasons that they say, oh, I'm going Lindor on
my ballot instead of Otani. Now, Otani's gonna wind up
being fifty to fifty, so it shouldn't really matter at

(07:31):
all because Otani just I mean, come on, We've never
seen fair. We've seen great all around seasons by a
short I mean, I've never seen this with the Mets.
But but because I'm used to goud Rafel Santana. But
with Rodriguez, big numbers, and we've seen bigger numbers out
of there. I mean, his numbers are big, but they're
not overly. Wow, the guy's got forty five on runs

(07:53):
and it's knocked in up. They moved him to the
leadoff position. He's a big leader on the team. They
credit his meeting with the Mets when they were eleven
games under five hundred, all these things. But in the end,
like we've seen this fifty to fifty I'm a Met fan.
I'm telling you this man fifty to fifty hour remember
this for the rest of my life. All growing up,
all I heard was forty forty, forty forty nine for

(08:14):
and jose Canseco goes forty forty and it was how
do you do? How do you can you hit those
home runs and steal that many bases? And we've seen
six seasons like that in the history of the game, right,
and they're all in the last thirty years. Because this
is when the players that come up with that blend
of speed and power. But you know, we've seen forty forty,
never seen fifty to fifty man fifty to fifty, and

(08:36):
he's right there at it. I mean, he's got to
get there because if he doesn't get there, then Lindor
will get it. But really, he's going to get to
fifty to fifty, and that's all you really need. Any
voter would just say, yeah, that's great, Lindor. I had
fifty home runs, fifty stole the bases, Dodgers are in
first place yet Jojo Tani, MVP check Mark, Well, what's
check you right? Right now? I mean I would think
these would be baked into the odds at this point.

(08:58):
The expectation he's going to hit three more home runs
baked in the odds because I was actually looking up cookies. Economically,
it's just it's a bad it's a bad bet when
you add the delivery to it. All you were gonna go,
You're gonna order cookies for everybody. But I'll show show
you what I'll bring him tomorrow. Okay, I'm ordering him now. Okay,

(09:21):
I can save myself a boatload of money by just
walking in there and getting them myself. That's all I
can say. Harmon was gonna order cookies for all of
us be decided. Blank you ty Shirt, blank you shay tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Right.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yeah, No, you're giving me the David Schwimmer moves. Ty
Shirt's worked three days this week, he's done.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
I'm here all week. Manchi's giving you. Manchi's giving you
the David. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Wow, Jason, do not want me to be here all week?

Speaker 2 (09:48):
No, it's just you always say you'll be here all
week and then you miss.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
The merced days.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Last Thursday, I said, dude, you're coming in the rest
of the week. It's one more day, Jay, But it's
one more day we're talking about, of course the company.
It's one more day. Were you in last No, No,
of course not. You're a week now.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
I'm saying you're all week.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Of course you weren't.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
I knew that.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Wow. And poor Mary, who works you just.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
To just to quick pull the curtain backstory. Mary Mack
is a tremendous heart, trendiously hard worker that comes in
at the drop of the hat, picks up people's shifts.
It's fantastic. She also doesn't know everybody here yet, and
so last week, when she was working. She was Jason,
I'm off, I'm not going to see you U tomorrow.
And I knew because Tyshert called in. When Chris Brussard announced, Hey,

(10:33):
my last show and the Odd Couple is coming up. Yes, right,
it became a marathon of hey, so Tyshert says, so
this is your life, I think so.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Tyshert says on the air, Hey, Chris, Oh my god,
I can't believe this news. It's so crazy. It's so crazy.
I'm not going to come in tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
So I knew at that moment, Oh, Tychert's not coming
in because I've known Tyschert now for almost ten years.
And I say to Mary and I go, Mary, Mary,
it's great, but i'll see you tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
So you know I'm not in tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
I go, no, I know, I'll say, y'all see you, Jason,
You're not gonna see me, and she was getting very
upset at me, like you're not gonna see me? Go oh,
you were trying to speak it into existence. I go, Mary,
I'll see you tomorrow. And then the next day I
walk in and she goes, Jason, you blake, an he blake,
How did you know that I was gonna be inna
go because when Tyscher called it instead, I'm taking tomorrow off.
I knew he was taking tomorrow off. I said, you

(11:18):
don't know everybody yet, but that's kind of how it
goes here. Well, you know what, yea, the learning curve
sometimes gets accelerated, that.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Curtain heart Foxmo.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
I was gonna give you the Otani odds the way
it's changed, right, because once upon a time we had
pretty much even odds between he and Aaron Judge sitting
up in that minus three thousand range. Right, minus three
thousand is an implied odds of about ninety seven percent
in terms of finishing out the job. Right, So your odds,

(11:54):
you bet a hunter bucks, you're gonna win three dollars. Okay, okay, okay.
Now with Sho Hao, we've now moved into a minus
nine hundred situation. What does that mean? Well, for your
hundred dollars, bet you're getting back one hundred eleven dollars.
But it's a vast improvement, and all of that money
is now shifted towards Francisco Lindor, who has depending on

(12:16):
the book, if you look around and shop around somewhere
from a ten to fifteen percent chance to win the
MVP based on the current odds. I'm telling you two
things have to either Otani doesn't get to fifty to fifty,
which he will, or voters have to as one say, oh,
I can't vote my conscience. I can't vote a DHMVP
when Glendora is playing every day like this. Other years,

(12:38):
it would ignore it completely and go, yeah, I don't
really care about the guy defensively, but his metrics are
all great. Yeah, I don't really care. I don't care
because I don't want to care. But for some reason
I want to vote against Shoeo Tim like that's how
it is. Well, but he's also won a couple of MVPs, right,
even though those were with the Angels, And if they
happen with the Angels, you know, did it make a sound?
I don't know. Oh wow, you suddenly you're talking about

(12:59):
like that's Mirout's career.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Oh no, I'm doing it too. See what you did there.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Okay, we're both going to hell, so we might as
well order cookies.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
So we're going we're going to help it.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Tell you the angels, how do you not get out
of the end of the playoffs more than once. Yeah,
it's a lot of MVP aworks. This is like we're
gonna say to Deion Sanders, Dude, you had the number
one and number two overall pick in the draft and
you had back to back four and eight seasons. Come on, man,
I tell your son to get rid of the ball
and stop holding it. It's not all the offensive lineman's
fault anyway. The the final line to it is based on

(13:31):
narratives we've seen because we've seen voting like this so
many times, Like, all right, that guy's got a couple
of m vps. Where's there a cool story, a better story,
and an opportunity show Tani. We we minted the plate
for that MVP at the what first of May? Yeah, well,
now now we're into September. Hey, we got a new story.

(13:53):
Let's go, let's mint that plate. We've heard about him
for solo. Look, because that's part of it too, is
that when we're into something new or into something new, right, Hey,
we've heard about today for so long. Wait a minute,
this is different. Something is a little different here. Okay,
let's see what this is different. I kind of like this. Now,
maybe I'll take some of the momentum away. But in

(14:13):
the end, when Otani goes fifty to fifty, that's gonna
change everything.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Man.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
It's nobody knows what I means something to break up
a whole no hitter with a home run today and
me screaming at the top of my lungs, going, it's
another thing to go, Yeah, fifty to fifty. And not
only that, I didn't need to really sweat to get there.
I got there before September fifteenth. H You know, I'm
gonna be fifty five to fifty five by the time
it's all said and done, which sounds like a menu

(14:37):
at like I hop. Oh well, you can order off
of the you're gonna get the fifty five fifty five
fifty five menu. It's fifty five for those over fifty five.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah, that's what it is.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Yeah, it works. Every extra piece of Bacon's only fifty five.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
Cents extra pieces of bacon.

Speaker 1 (14:51):

the virtues of your vacation time?

Speaker 2 (16:56):
You know, I vacation in Michigan.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
No.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
No, it turns out one of the guys grew up
near where my wife grew up. Yeah, And I was like, okay, yeah,
we've been to the same places. We're saying, it's a
small world after all together, and uh, then ate more
fried cheese. And my cousin just he played, uh played
baseball scholarship at Grand Rapids Community College. Now he just
got a scholarship to Michigan. How about that I was

(17:19):
playing baseball there now a couple of years. Can he
go play some football? Can he help?

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (17:24):
He's got a good arm, but I mean, I don't think.
I mean we'll get to Michigan later on in the week.
He's got a good arm. He's got a good arm
for a baseball football.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
A little difficult.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
He had pay hands like you. Uh no, no, no, no,
he's uh he's one of those tall, skitting, thin kids.
He's like a helicopter. It's like, boy, look at that
reach you have. Man, I wish I had that reach
and said to me, I put up my arms and
it looked like like I have a pickaxe, you know,
just like what I put my arms out yet pickaxe? Pete.
Here we go, tap tap, tap tap down. Uh so

(17:58):
he also doing a little Rannosaurus Rex thing right there.
That was good. We'll tell you why tonight is Balero
Night coming up in a few minutes, but first big
TNF game tomorrow thanks to Jason Cole for stopping by
last hour. Very upset that the NFL is playing a
very important game on Thursday night, Like this should be
a night for Jaguars and the Cardinals, but instead we

(18:21):
get Bill's Dolphins, which is a really big game. Well
he was calling for a throwback to simpler times. Yeah, okay,
before expansion. Wow, but before they started putting good games,
when we had the first team in Houston, when it
was ay all right, when it was Warren Moon and
Ernest Givens uh patrolling. Someone walked in saying, here's what

(18:42):
Amazon's spent bringing the second guy with that second board
to put the extra zero's up there. Al Michaels is
incredibly happy. He's got a good football game. He's really
really happy. This is two weeks in a row now
they've had a good game. Insane, you know, on Thursday night,
first one for him. But it's a pretty good it's
a pretty good Thursday night for of course, I gotta
start looking at week three or any what's what's that matchup?

(19:03):
Week three is Panthers, No, it's Jet's Patriots. It's a
good one. Panthers Broncos is the week after? No, it's not.
I'm just kidding, but.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
You look though, wait, is it really well? I don't
know how Michael is going.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
I'm gonna be sick that week, just so you know,
I'm calling in sick that day but tomorrow's game.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
First, I like the under. I know that both offenses.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
You have the image of the Bills as being this
big explosive offense, and they scored a bunch of points
last week. The Dolphins also have a big explosive offense,
but Josh Allen is banged up, the top two running backs,
the Dolphins are banged up. It's Thursday night on a
short week. Forty nine and a half is a lot
of points. So the first thing I'm gonna tell you
is I like the under. It's hard for me to

(19:53):
go over on a Thursday night just because this is
generally how the games are played. They're played very sloppily.
The teams know each other, so okay, at least there's
that part of it. But it's at last week, I
love the over. This week I liked the under. It
has the sense to me of a twenty seven to
seventeen type game, and with the number up near fifty,

(20:14):
I feel pretty good about the under. Yeah, looking at
the number of injuries that have piled up, though on
the defensive sides, obviously from Miami. For fantasy purposes, everybody
anxious about the fact that the backfield for the Dolphins
has crumbled eight chan game time decision. He's banged up Moster,
it's missing tomorrow and they haven't ruled out him missing

(20:35):
more significant time, which means the Jason Smith hex is alive.
You did that to coaches when they were, you know,
rank number one and all that stuff, and then they'd lose.
We talked to Raheem Mostert, he he's hurt. Sure, Well, yeah,
I know it is. It is, he was, Okay, I
blame you, but look but yeah, I mean it's a
two and a half or three point spread, depending on
where you're shopping. Started Dolphins minus one. But the secondaries

(20:59):
for both squad and back seven for that matter, Mulatto
ripping his bicep isn't helping any matters for for the Bills.
So I'm gonna push it to the over. I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna go contrast. Oh, if we agree, it sucks,
But I'm just looking at the number of injuries in
both secondaries that you know, the big explosive plays are

(21:21):
gonna be there. If I believed in in the Bills
offense a little bit more, maybe, but I'm taking Miami
laying the two and a half and then they're gonna
win by ten. The Bills won a game they probably
should have won much easier against the Arizona Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
I don't know who Josh kick.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
The ball off. I don't ask what are you doing?
I don't know who Josh Allen's weapons are really gonna be.
I don't It was Stefan Diggs for so long, and
then when they let him go, I thought maybe addition
by subtraction, But boy did they struggle last week. I again,
I don't don't know where he's gonna go with the football.

(22:01):
Daltonkin Keg had a down week and I thought for
sure he would be his number one target. He ran
the ball. Well, is Josh Allen really going to run
the ball this week a lot? Considering he's got a
hand injury. I don't see the Bills solving their identity
problem in a short week. Meanwhile, here are the Dolphins
who go out and win a big emotional game against

(22:21):
the Jaguars on Sunday after the Tyree Kill arrest. And
now that story is has has gone through the week,
and the Dolphins are together and and and and they
found a way to to make this be a moment
that that potentially unites them here. This is what happened,
and we're here for our teammate. They seem to have
it a little bit more together, even with the injuries
in the running game. It's it's kind of where the

(22:42):
Dolphins are as good as you think. You know, a
chen is and moster maybe anybody is good. And Jalen
Wright was a guy we talked yet he still coming
back from injury, but expected to be available on some level,
probably mostly Wilson tomorrow. But they're they're in a better
playing The Dolphins are in a better place right now

(23:02):
than the Bills. They're a better team. They're playing at home,
and yeah, give me, give me the Dolphins, Dolphins by ten.
Look at you. I like your conviction. I'm gonna disagree
with you, of course you are. You like Josh Allen,
like Mike Tomlin, likes Russell Wilson, just no talking you often.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
But Russell Wilson, Russell Wilson, that's not me.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
And if you did that to Mike tom Whin, he'd
punch you in the face. He might not even look,
he might not even have to lift it on. He
might just give you the Mike Tomlin look and you'd
feel like you were punched in the face. What's witch
Avengers movie? Is it? Went Hulk? And who is it
that helps Hulk? And they just walk off and Hulk
just Thor and he just punches Thor out of the

(23:46):
screen like that. Tomin wouldn't even look at me. He
just can punch I don't even think you need to
hit you. Uh, literally the death stare. But looking at
more from Kincaid, that'll be a bigger part. He and
knocks uh and then looking for Shakir with a touchdown.
Kean Coleman got his Sea legs in Week one. The
short week sucks again. I do agree with Jason cole

(24:10):
and the larger theory of things, but I can't have
it both ways. I can't hate that we're stacked with
division games down the stretch, which I think is just
awful given the war of attrition that is an NFL season,
that we're going to play a lot of games. Look
at the like the Bears, whatever the record is after
the first several weeks, three straight games to open the

(24:32):
season against the AFC South, and then you eventually grind
back to playing all your division games. Who's who's playing
at that point, who's healthy. We're battling for divisions with
backups all over the place versus here. Hey, let's do
it early, but you know what, let's give it to
you on a Thursday night. No, why not? But owing

(24:52):
to the divisional matchups and the fact that the coaches
have been there and so you have continuity and you
can say, you know what, they have have these shells
of their game plans already in place, so we can
do this short week for them. But yeah, for week two, Yeah,
I'd really much rather have this on a Sunday afternoon.
But you know what, tomorrow, you and I get to

(25:13):
chop it up and go back and forth, and maybe
I'll bring you a cookie and we can bet that cookie.
Exit out bouta Fresca exit Swallen don The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Carmen. Now we get
into why it's Bolaro Knight, Blaro Knights? Why are we
playing Blero music? I don't understand, Well you will. Aaron
Rodgers in his near ten year anniversary of his relax statement. Right, hey,

(25:37):
the Packers are owing to he should have that's ten
years old now. Now, man gave me the David Schwimmer
sign for go blank yourself earlier. Maybe Rogers should have
shown up for his presser in the Frankie says relaxed
shirt that became the contested item between Rachel.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
And relax relax.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
So the ten year anniversary of that, Oh, by the way,
you weren't on a break, the ten year anniversary of that,
Aaron Rodgers kind of gives us a little bit of
a reboot of his freemix relaxed statement by telling Jets,
fans and everybody around the league, a, oh and one,
we lost the forty nine ers. Everything is fine, and
now you know why it's Bolaro night.

Speaker 5 (26:24):
I think we always got to stay relaxed. It's a
long season. I think at times people think this season
is like you're out in the prairie or the desert
and you're wandering around trying to find water. But it's
more like a nice slow balero, you know, where we're
just swaying with the music and reacting to whatever comes
through comes to us and through us, and just trying

(26:46):
to not get too high with the highs or too
low with the lows. The league is a lot different
than when I said relax years ago in that there's
just so much more coverage, that there's so much more
opportunity for overreaction.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
So there it is.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
It's like a slow Blair. We're swaying side to side.
Well Blio. He also stole from The Simpsons. It's like
you're wandering in the desert with the guatemon insanity Pepper
and the wolf is in the clouds, and it sounds
like Johnny Cash.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
You look, here's why I like it. I was doing
my Christopers. You were very close. I like it.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
I don't love it, but I like it. Look the
Warriors look, look, look I get I get it. Grayson
Allen is look, look, look I look you're gonna be okay.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Yeah, that's that's my Christpers. No, but I mean only
two more days that ten years ago.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
But he's still on FS one.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
It's fine. I be on the show ten years ago.
Rogers did the relax thing. Packers wound up winning what
ten in a row, twelve and four, they won the division,
went to the playoffs. So if he's telling me to relax, now,
I'll relax. I'm fine, okay, I believe him. As again,
he looked fine on Monday Night. How much I believe
the last couple of years. Uh, the fifty three percent,

(28:04):
so very specific, he's fifty three per He looked fine.
Look we talked plus the v he looked fine. On
Monday night, I have sure winners for you, but you
have to call me. I'll give you sure winners right now. Uh,
he looked fine Monday night, he says, Relax, I'll relax.
Will I be relaxed if they lose to the Titans.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
No, I won't be.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Suddenly, the entire season is on the game against the Titans.
It was a freebe Week one against the Niners. Now
the season is on the line against the Titans. This
is how it happens. But I will relax until that
game because I believe him.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
He looked good.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
There was nothing I saw where I said, oh man,
they're real strut struggle. He is not the same guy.
Everything is fine. The jet got to get their heads
on straight because they weren't going into that game. They
were filled with oh this how great we are. We're
so good, We're so good. No, obviously they're not. They
went up against the team that's coming off the Super Bowl,
and you saw how it went.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
So yeah, I'm okay.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
With relaxing.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
Maybe I go home and listen to boalero music. Maybe
I don't.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
Maybe I get my fill with tyshirt playing the same
one Bolaro song the entire night. Maybe that's it for me.
In fact, I'm sure it will be. I won't be
listening to blow music on the way home, but listening
to it now, it's okay. You'll just find another version
of the same Bolo song. Look, you got the Titans,
then Patriots at home, then the Broncos at home. So,
as we talked about over the course of the week,

(29:26):
find the podcast. Wherever you get your audio, we appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
You could be three and one and everything's all right
with the world.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
I'd like to see him have a little more fluidity
in his hips, like he's talking about doing his Bolaro
dance and wandering in the desert and all that crap.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
That'd be good.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
And Tennessee's defense they're no slouch. They'll get after you,
so pass rush. Let's see what that offensive line's got.
But the explosive plays are certainly potentially there for you.
So I don't know that I relax. I'b slightly tense.
I'm swaying back and forth. Yeah, you're not a Jet fan.
You don't care. You're fine, you're relaxed. You're hoping they

(30:05):
lose because he wants me to lose my mind. It
makes for better radio, it does, but not if I'm
just swaying back and forth listening to Bolero's Like, you
see what it's like now you wish the Bears were
on Monday Night football against CJ Strouden. Yeah, that would
be a great Monday night game. Had that game too,
But just just sway back and forth and realize, oh,
Aaron Rodgers is right, just swaying with my eyes closed.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
I think the Jets season is going to.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Be great again. I'm still having that whole ceremonial scene
in Cone and the Barbarian. But if it doesn't work,
I got the Mets that can take me straight over
the Jets all the way to the Knicks. So I'm okay.
I mean, you have Lindor, He's a superman exit out
about a Fresco exit swollen down the Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon. Now let's see how

(30:50):
slow Moncey Bolango's talks with Balero playing under her deliver it.

Speaker 6 (30:56):
Moncey well, Gavin Lux as just given the Dodgers they
need with an RBI single in the bottom of the
seventh inning. They were up by a lot in the
first inning, and then the Cubs, you know, they came back,
Cody Bellinger a three run shot, bringing them within one.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
They tie the game.

Speaker 6 (31:18):
Dodgers now back on top.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Now, since Manzi works with the Dodgers, maxi's important for her, yeah,
to keep herself relaxed. Manzi's also going too fast, going
too fast, too fast, too fast, too fast.

Speaker 7 (31:31):
Sure, well, darn well, darned no, I can't do it.

Speaker 6 (31:33):
It's really it's very difficult. I speak fast. You should
hear me speaking Spanish to my mother. We speak very
very fast.

Speaker 7 (31:39):
Yeah, guys, the Dodgers have just taken the lead.

Speaker 6 (31:41):
Gavin lux with an RBI single up the middle. They're
beating the Cubs eight to seven. They're about to start
the eighth inning in LA, but the Dodgers hit four
homers in the bottom of the first inning. It all
started with Shoho Tani's so bringing his total to forty seven,
bringing his total of stolen bases to forty eight. Because
he's already stolen one here and baseball all over the place.

Speaker 7 (32:01):
Everything is real tight. The Mets, they came back from behind.

Speaker 6 (32:04):
Broke up a no hitter all in the ninth inning
to beat the Blue Jays six to two. The Nationals
outscore the Braves five to one, so Atlanta is one
game out of the final wald Card spot in the
National League behind the Mets. The Yankees had afforded three
win over the Royals and eleven innings.

Speaker 7 (32:17):
The Red Sox defeated the Orioles five to two, so New.

Speaker 6 (32:20):
York has a one and a half game lead on
Baltimore for the top spot in the AL East. The
Twins out a six to four win over the Angels.
The Tigers they beat the Rockies seven to four, so
the Tigers are three games out of the final wald
Card spot in the AL behind the Twins. The A's
they came back to beat the Astros five to four,
while the Mariners defeated the Padres five to three, so
Seattle is.

Speaker 7 (32:41):
Now three and a half games back of the Astros
for the top spot in the a L West.

Speaker 6 (32:46):
So just tight races all over the place in baseball,
and this just in in college sports. According to Yahoo Sports,
the PAC twelve is targeting the Boise State, Colorado State,
Fresno State, and San Diego State be new members of
the conference. So Pack twelve maybe coming back to life.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (33:05):
Maybe maybe already we're retro twelve.

Speaker 7 (33:08):
Ye, bring it back real quick, real quick.

Speaker 6 (33:12):
And you guys were just talking about Thursday night football kicking.

Speaker 7 (33:15):
Off Week two between the Dolphins and the Bills.

Speaker 6 (33:17):
Running Back Raheem Moster for Miami out because of that
chest injury. Running Back de von Aiight chan game time
decision because of the ankle injury, but Bill's quarterback Josh
Allen will be playing. Other news in the NFL, Packers
head coach Matt Laflores is a door is still open
for Jordan Love to play in Week two against the
Colts despite that knee injury. Raven's quarterback Lamar Jackson not

(33:38):
on the injury rapport. He's going to start Sunday against
the Raiders. Chris Steelers' quarterback.

Speaker 7 (33:43):
So Wilson.

Speaker 6 (33:43):
That was me trying to get Russell Wilson out Steelers quarterback.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
I think what happens.

Speaker 6 (33:52):
Malero forty nine Ers head coach Kyle Shannan says running
back Christian McCaffrey. His mentality is that he is going
to play on Sunday. He was a limited participant today
at practice, but the NFL Network reports that it's really
a long shot that he does play in Minnesota, and
Brown's head coach Kevin Stefanski says that Deshaun Watson We'll
be playing Sunday against the Jaguars.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
Back to you, Gugs, Thank you, Monson, Jay, Russell Wilson,
just Jess, that's Jets who put it in. Jes, Jeff
go go, here we go. Here's a balero. Did you
say Gus Gus Gussie? Coming up next? Well, we had
the Otawni Lindor MVP discussion. Did another MVP race? Just

(34:35):
end tonight? That's coming up next right here, Jason and
Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
R e LA.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Ty Shirt is playing the song because he wants to end.
What was Balerona Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon live from the Ti
rag dot Com studios. Jace, I'm trying to wake up
the people you put to sleep. Oh really, really, you
could say a lot of things about the show. That

(35:16):
is the most inaccurate thing you could potentially say.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
I think people were swaying a l digging the balero.
It's kind of like when Billy Joel does Piano Man
in the CONTINENTA. We're swaying back and forth and sing
this up and he's like, I'd never want to play
this song again. I just need to play the piano.
I don't have to sing because everybody else is singing.
All how about you guys sing? Okay, that's great. Piano man.
Up on, we talked about the MVP race between Otani

(35:44):
and Francisco Lindor. Lindor breaking up a no hitter today
with a home run of the ninth inning. He's running
second show. Hey Otani, so far tonight? And I say
so far because the Dodgers and Cubs game still going.
It's like a two hour forty five in a game
I fel like has been going since four clock. Otani
with a home run, stolen base, he's at forty seven

(36:04):
and forty eight. Look, he's gonna get to fifty to fifty.
That's gonna end the discussion for MVP did We also
see the MVP get crowned tonight in the WNBA. Asia
Wilson becomes the all time leading scorer again in regular
season NBA history. Two time MVP most likely gonna get

(36:26):
a third now the Aces beat the Fever in Kitlyn
Clark eighty six seventy five. She now has over nine
hundred and forty points this season, which was the old record.
Juwel Lloyd set the record of nine to thirty nine
last season, so now she owns the record for most
points of a year in the WNBA. One thousand points
is next. We told you was gonna It's very much

(36:48):
like the the Otani Lindor thing. This is a two
person race for the MVP between Asia Wilson and Kitlyn Clark.
And we've seen Kitlyn Clark and the Fever go on
a big run. Last couple of games. It's been win one,
lose one. Caitlyn Clark can paid grade. She had a
really bad game tonight, shot horrendously, did not really play well,
and the Ace is showing, hey, we're still a better

(37:08):
team than you are. They got another game tomorrow Friday
night against the Aces, but that one's in Vegas. I believe,
so this should be back to back wins for Vegas.
As great of as stories, it's going to be, as
great of a narrative it's going to be. It's been
a phenomenal season for Caitlyn Clark, and yes, absolutely, when
you talk about most Valuable Player, it's the value you

(37:28):
supply to your team and how good they are. And
for the Fever, who hadn't made the playoffs since twenty sixteen,
they're going back already. What she's been able to do
to help lead them there absolutely the top of that discussion.
But I think we've seen so far this year, and
he saw it in a lot of people saw in
the Olympics as well, how unstoppable she was. Asia Wilson
at this point, twenty seven years old, best player in

(37:50):
the WNBA. She's going to have another MVP. Maybe Caitlyn
Clark finished his second and most likely she will. But
clearly the Asia Wilson is still at the top of
the basketball world. What she is doing is still better
than Caitlyn Clark. Kaylyn Clark's getting you talk about, you know,
being a professional for all of three and a half months,
But right now Asia Wilson's at the point where she's
the best player in the world, and maybe tonight was

(38:11):
at night where she cemented it on the all time
leading scorer again, I'm gonna be be marching in on
a thousand points. As good as Kitlyn Clark has been,
it's still Asia Wilson the best player, averaging twenty seven
and twelve on the year. Met those numbers tonight in
a big beat down, fourteen straight win over the Fever,
and you know, you hang the astrosk on it because well,

(38:31):
you know they've they've not been what's that thing you
always say they had one problem all these years.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
And only had one problem. Only one thing was wrong.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
One thing was and you think there's so many things wrong,
but only one thing was wrong. One thing they stunk. Yeah, exactly,
that's the only part how the long road is back
for the longest time. The FISA callier of the Links
was the number two in terms of MVP odds as
of now. You've got Clark and I and Escu are
about the same, but they're both eighty to one the

(38:58):
prohibitive favorite when we get down to it minus five thousand.
So basically, book it for Asia Wilson. I mean, she's
been a phenomenal We've watched it from pillar to post,
and Caitlin Clark closed the gap a bit and set
some tongues wagging. She also did the right thing and
the classy thing and everything that you should be doing

(39:20):
is given the flowers to Wilson in all her pregame
postgame comments about what she does on a nightly basis
and what everybody's chasing and what continues to be the
best player in the league. But last common's gonna be
a fun run. Yeah, no, look, and just to think
about how dominant she is. Right, you're talking about a
run she has had where two MVPs, a finals MVP

(39:44):
and you know what, talk about double doubles. These are
real double doubles that she's getting, right, Not these angel
reaes four for nineteen and I eke out my tenth
point in the final minute of a twenty five point
blow out. No, these are real double doubles. And she's
also the two time raigning defensive Player the year. Like,
she's just in the middle of this magical run. And
she's probably gonna set a record also for most points

(40:06):
per game in WNBA history. Now, granted, these are records
that are getting broken every year, because we've seen the
point record get broken each of the last four years.
But right now, but when you hold it, the show
is tonight, the season is right now. This is what
Asia Wilson is. So the excitement of it is, you know,
you watch the competition get better and then we have
you know, Page Beckers, Juju Watkins and everybody coming up

(40:28):
this next year, which is fantastic, and you see what
the league's doing and more talk of how big it'll expand,
et cetera. But you look at at Wilson and others.
They looked around and said, all right, let's make sure
we take care of our business. So she's looking at
not only massive career high leap and points, but to
get the average up to eleven point nine rebounds a

(40:50):
game because she saw Angel Reese, she saw some of
the other pants like, wait, let me remind you, hey,
when there's a rebound that any of us can get,
I get it. Okay, when three of us can get it,
it's uncontested, I get the rebound. Just so you know,
that's how it goes. Exit out bouta fresca exit swollen
dome coming up next. We get back into the latest

(41:11):
development in the NFL regarding a big story from the
last twenty four hours. Fox
