Speaker 2 (00:22):
Give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
We got a new starting quarterback, but I think it's
what we all expected in Washington, which leads to a conversation,
based on what we saw tonight, could one of the
rookies already be in trouble? Also a walk off in Cincinnati?
Dodgers are in trouble. Welcome in to Fox Sports Radio
(00:48):
and the tire Rack dot Com studios with the stinking
genius Arnie Spanier Chris Plank.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
We got a lot to get to in these final
two hours, all right.
Speaker 5 (00:56):
We haven't even hit nearly as many Roman numerals.
Speaker 6 (00:59):
And I was just I was looking at the date
August eighteenth.
Speaker 5 (01:02):
We're here.
Speaker 6 (01:03):
Football is here. Just what two more weeks and we're
done with August? And we don't talk anything other than
football after that it's go time.
Speaker 5 (01:12):
Well, little NBA, what is what is hockey?
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Roman numeral nine.
Speaker 5 (01:18):
Hardened situation, hardened situation.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Harden situation.
Speaker 5 (01:22):
Yes, you have heard of James hard You may have
heard of him.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
No, I've completely never heard of him. What's going on?
Speaker 6 (01:29):
Yeah, well you can.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
You're in an a hole to me, So I'm kidding
my gosh, Arnie. All right, So why do you even
have that on?
Speaker 6 (01:37):
By the way, you didn't even get to roman numeral
number twelve?
Speaker 5 (01:41):
Yeah, I sht's see here, roman numeral.
Speaker 6 (01:42):
That's on the whole other page. That's on the second
page either side.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Because roman numeral well, roman numeral eleven, which running back
signing was.
Speaker 6 (01:50):
No, forget about that. No by by roman numeral twelve
was It's not going to be a fun year because
out of the eighth division, six have already been decided.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
He said same thing last year.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
I was pretty much right last year.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Yeah, so does that whoers who wins the division? Man?
It doesn't mean I'm not gonna watch football, No.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
I understand that.
Speaker 6 (02:08):
But we already know that Jacksonville, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Minnesota,
the Saints, and San Francisco won the division. Would that's
a give me right, that's a done do I think
we can all agree on that?
Speaker 4 (02:19):
No, I think we can.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
What.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
I'll give you two of those, which two in Philadelphia
and Kansas.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
On Philadelphia?
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Really yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
I mean we've seen teams that go to the Super
Bowl and lose when the quarterback's not Mahomes, struggle to
get back to that point, right, And I don't see
any weaknesses in Philadelphia. I'm trying, man, Arnie, I am
trying to find the weakness with Philadelphia, but it's just
it's just not happening.
Speaker 6 (02:48):
At San Francisco already won the NFC West. That's a
done deal.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Also, Well, don't you base a lot of what you
see in the preseason?
Speaker 6 (02:54):
No, come on, we already know they've won this, so
that's that's an automatic three. We know the Saints are
gonna win on How crappy that the vision is?
Speaker 3 (03:02):
How are you so sure about sample? Don't no pause
for a second. How are you so sure about San Francisco?
What is it about San Francisco right now that says, oh,
they're gonna win that division?
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Their best defensive player, we're's he right now? Well?
Speaker 6 (03:15):
I know that he's it's one of the quiet holdouts
out there.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
But there are four games.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
First of all, they finished four games better than the
Seattle is is Seattle four games better?
Speaker 5 (03:25):
I mean really, I mean.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
Just about them being four games better.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
It's about San Francisco being a little worse, playing a
bit of a tougher schedule.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
I don't know. I'm not ready to crown San Francisco.
Speaker 6 (03:35):
Let's really really be honest. Gino Smith was a great
story for one year.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Well you're just just in Seattle? Here?
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Are you?
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Just out on the rams?
Speaker 6 (03:44):
Just like pulling the Carlisle? That's a one hit wonder,
you know what I mean? So you know, our lips
are sealed, Move on out, let's go next to it.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
Let's see him do it again.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Listen, our lips are sealed. Wasn't that the Go Gos?
Speaker 5 (03:56):
Yeah, that's in the car.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
But I mean, if you're gonna use pulling the Carlisle,
you got to go with one of her solo acts.
I mean, you've got to say it's the Go Goats.
You just can't make it Steve Sax's girlfriend, aren't he?
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Come on?
Speaker 5 (04:06):
I bet no? That was Marshall's girlfriend.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Wasn't Mike Marshall's girlfriend.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Mike Marshall's girlfriend. What's wrong with you?
Speaker 3 (04:12):
I thought it was Steve Saxon girlfriend. Nobody gets that anymore.
That was fifty years ago. Now, what's crazy when you
think about it? Yeah, but otherwise administ hold on a second,
Hold a second, you're just basing all of this on Seattle.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Are you out on the Rams? Oh?
Speaker 5 (04:30):
Please come on.
Speaker 6 (04:31):
We know that the Rams and Arizona they're they're done,
So they're already finished.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
I mean, Matt Stafford's supposed to be back and healthy.
Aaron Donald's got he came back after he was supposed
to retire.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
You say you should even have that in the update.
That should be in the update.
Speaker 6 (04:48):
And guess what, it's a it's a final Uh, that
San Francisco's won the division.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
He should put that in the update.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
I'm just again, I don't think you've really sold me
on it. You've just basically talked about everyone around him.
Mike Shannahan, I've said that guy a lot. Kyle Shanahan's
done an incredible job with getting quarterbacks ready. But is
Brock Purty gonna be healthy enough? You're telling me suddenly
Sam Darnold's gonna turn a corner. If he's not ready.
Speaker 6 (05:13):
I mean, anybody but Trey Lance, which I've been telling yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Everyone but Trey Lance. They've you know, will see if
they're able to stay healthy. You know, got a little
deemed up at time.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
Slash.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
I mean, I get it, don't get me wrong, but
I just think it's more competitive than just sitting here
and saying that's the Niners Division.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
That's one of those that I consider over you.
Speaker 6 (05:31):
Know, VJ bet a ten dollars parlay on who the
division winners were going to be. That pays eleven thousand dollars.
I think I should put I should do something like that.
Do those six division winners and see how much I get.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
For that one. I think that could be a pretty
good bet.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Okay, Jacksonville in the AFC South, Yeah, that's a slam dunk.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
To you too.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
Oh absolutely, what are you kidding me? What's it gonna be?
The Texans?
Speaker 3 (05:56):
You just count down the Titans. Well, let's be Derrick Henry.
But Texans are done, so not least the Titans and
the Colts. I said, yeah, the Titans and the colt
So we crossed out the Texans. Then why are you
counting hold on way back up a little bit. Is
this based on CJ. Stroud? Because I think the Texans
can hit their over this year. I think they might
be a bit of a problem now. I don't know
if they're going to win their division, but.
Speaker 5 (06:17):
They're not, okay, I'm here to tell you that right now.
And CJ.
Speaker 6 (06:20):
Stroud doesn't scare anybody. These tight re passes Titans lost.
You know, between the other two teams, the Titans and
the Colts both lost their last seven games.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
You win to stand that they're going in the wrong direction.
Speaker 6 (06:32):
I'm not so sure that these are two teams that
you want to think are going to have a By
the way, their plus minus last year was atrocious.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
I'm just not sure they're really that much better. Though.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
The Titans have gotten a little bit better. I think
that's Jacksonville's division. They're like the best team in the
division right now.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
That was and Jacksonville was at one point four and
eight last.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
Year that they won their last five games, right.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
But I'm just I'm reminding you that when they were
four and eight, you thought Trevor Lawrence was done.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
No, no, no, come on, come on, I mean.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
That's I love that fight with you you called him,
you called him a flop, and then they won their
next five games.
Speaker 6 (07:10):
I mean, I'm bombed that six of the eight divisions
already pretty much decided.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I don't know if you've sold me on two of them.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
And so Minnesota, the team that statistically was the luckiest
team in the National Football League.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
Last year, you're telling me it's over.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
With the sudden resurgence of the Lions, Jordan Love and
Clifford and now only justin Fields is great.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
I mean, let's be honest. We know that Love is
not going to lead the package of the division titles.
So we don't know that. Yeah, well, at least I do.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
That's why I do. But I don't think it's decided.
I don't think any I don't even think fifty percent
of the people, if you put a pull up would
pick the Vikings to beat to win that dear.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
Oh, that's not true. They got to be the favorite
to win the division. Mathematically, they're the favorite, or at
least according to Vegas. The Bears are certainly not a
team that's good to be the worst the first but
they are a lot better. Look the Lions are. Okay,
there's still a five hundred team. Maybe they find the
way to get into the playoffs, but let's not get
too crazy about them. That's Minnesota's division that matter of fact.
(08:10):
Have the Seger put that in the update too, please?
Speaker 4 (08:12):
What is it about Minnesota that you like?
Speaker 6 (08:16):
Well, first of all, they were four games better than Detroit,
and you told me that Detroit made up four games
in that process.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Asking you what you like about Minnesota?
Speaker 6 (08:24):
Well, I've always thought that Cousins was, you know, a
pretty good quarterback. I don't know why everybody thought he
was bad and that he was just horrible out there.
I thought he was pretty you know, better than a
lot of other quarterbacks. On the thing, I like Madison.
I think he's gonna be a great back out there,
and now we're gonna be the full time back.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
So and they've got great receivers.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Come on, now, we we know that they've always had
good receivers.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
Now, how'd they do in the playoffs last year?
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Does that matter? Does that really matter? Right now?
Speaker 6 (08:53):
It absolutely making every thought if they're gonna win the
division this year?
Speaker 4 (08:56):
I think so.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
I think you're I think you're crowd in three teams
right there that absolutely can't be crowned and I love
this sudden passion that you have for New Orleans just
because they had one good drive in the preseason. But
I don't even know if they're the betting favorite in
the South right now, and yet you're just giving them
that division. So I'm with you on KC and Philly.
(09:21):
Go ahead and raise the flag if you want. But
I will fight you on Jacksonville, San Francisco, Minnesota and
the Saints.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
It's the funny part.
Speaker 6 (09:29):
If you took a poll among America who they like
in each division, the majority of the people would agree
with me on all those six teams only because of
the favorite.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
According to Vegas, I don't think anyone would agree with
you on Minnesota as much as you think, So throw
it out there.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Throw it out. Do you know how to do a
poll on X No?
Speaker 5 (09:49):
I have no idea.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Okay, I don't. I love the fact that you're kissing
up to the boss tonight, I get it, But wow,
I don't think I don't think year two there's Team
Tames figuring out more about what they're doing in Minnesota.
I think that they're also kind of one of those
teams to where it's a contract here for Kirk Cousins,
and it just seems as if they've been trying to
(10:12):
move on from him and he'll have a good season
and he comes back. I don't know, dude, I'm not
buying them as much as you are definitely not buying Jacksonville.
I don't think you, I mean San Francisco. You're putting
them in there when we don't even know where Nick
Bosa is. The very first tweet to this show with
someone asking if the Nick Bosa holdout is the quietest
(10:34):
holdout that we currently have going on?
Speaker 4 (10:36):
And he's right.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Does they supposed to play quarterback? I must have missed something.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
But again, this is where you completely and totally minimize
the importance of a team. Well, okay, then where's their
starting quarterback? Purdy's hurt, he's still dinged up, he's trying
to come back.
Speaker 6 (10:52):
He'll still be the starting quarterback, and he doesn't have
to be all that great.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Look I think all.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
This okay, okay, stop stop stop right there, stop right there?
Why doesn't have to be all that great because of
guys like Nick Bosa, who you just said it doesn't
matter because he's not the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
Make the freaking mind here.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
Dde defensively the best team in the league. The matter
of fact, if they don't have.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Nick Bosa, they're not the best defensive team in the league.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
You want to bet that he's there for the first game?
You want to make any bet whatsoever.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Listen, have you been following movement on this? Have you
heard anything about it? This is just your blind homeros
this big no. No.
Speaker 6 (11:28):
I do have an inside source and his name is
common Sense, and common sense tells you that he'll be
there for the first game. I promise you.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Again, what in the common sense have you seen in
this story? Can we get common sense for you to
believe we should come and be there? We should get
common Sense to come on the show. I think you'd
be a pretty good guest. Well, if it's anything like
your division projections, then I'm worried about common Sense coming
on this show. To be honest with you. Four No,
(11:57):
I'm sorry. Six of the divisions you only have, what's fun.
The AFC East and the AFC North are the only
two divisions you have up for grabs, And you've basically
spent this entire offseason telling us that the Dolphins are
going to the super Bowl and how great the Dolphins.
Doesn't mean they have one of the divisions. It's up
for grabs.
Speaker 6 (12:15):
Yeah, well it's a tough division, Dolphins Bills. Now the
Patriots would add and that got Dolvin cooked there a
little bit better, So it could be a tight race
out there in the AFC North.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
I I'm not sure what the hell is gonna happen there.
Speaker 6 (12:29):
That's gonna be a tough one too, I don't I
don't think it's gonna be the Ravens, though I'm not
gonna put them in there.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
I don't agree with you on any of those, but
Kansas City and Philadelphia. I don't know how I laid
out my reasoning. You're you're just hold you all of
my reasonings there. I think then, well, listen, I would
be right in line with you. Put your record now
and picking the preseason six and nine season.
Speaker 6 (12:55):
I'm hitting a little pump in the road, one of
those speed bumps and says slow down for the speed bump.
Speaker 5 (12:59):
I just didn't slow that.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
It's like a ten year bump in the road on
your picks, I don't think at all. I don't think
Jacksonville is by any means a slam dunk to win
their division. I don't think Minnesota is. I think a
lot of people are starting to jump on the Jordan
Love train. I would love to believe that New Orleans
is nobody's jumping on the Jordan Love train. Who's jumping
on that train? Watch four weeks in when Arnie sees
(13:22):
Jordan Love has some good stats, He'll be the guy
that's like, oh, oh, look at Jordan Love. I told
you my guy, Jordan Love. And then I just San
Francisco has too many questions right now.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
I love them.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
I think they're a good football team, but there are
too many questions for that team right now to just
say slam dunk Super Bowl pick.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
I know where they are as far as the betting
favorites are concerned. But we've said it for a long time, Arnie,
I get the sense that one of those favorites is
going to slide this year. And if you're telling me, oh, yeah,
San Francisco, it's all gonna come together, you're counting on
quite a bit to come together with the way things
are right now.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
That's me. That's I feel about the Niners.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
Yeah, but again, who unless is you're picking Seattle because
we already know it's going to be a miserable year
for the for the Rams in Arizona. Right, we could
all agree on that too, or no.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
Yeah, I agree with that.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
Okay, two team race, and I'll take San Francisco over
Seattle eleven.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
Out of ten times, so you know they're much better team. Especially.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Don't know why you're counting out the Rams here. That's
Sean McVay, that's your boy. I don't think that they're
suddenly going to entertank mode if things don't go well.
I get it that Matt Stafford got hurt last year,
but I still think that Cooper.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Cup is back. I think that's still a good football team.
Speaker 6 (14:41):
I think Rob Parker was ahead of his time by
five years.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
Now.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
Matthew Stafford has hit the road, so he's five years
too early on that one.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
So there you go.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
No, listen, that is being ahead of the game. Whatever,
it's fine.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
He has a Super Bowl ring and brought a title
to the Rams.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
That is a out of the game.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
All right, Listen, we'll debate and discuss this all night long.
But Arnie has already ended six of the eight divisions
in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
What say you? It's thinking genius?

You know them, you love them. The Bet the Board
Podcast live from Vegas. Todd Furman is in the house.
(17:03):
Couple of ties. Todd, I mean, come on the excitement
of preseason football, but I mean neither game was a
pick him, So how would you handle that? Everyone just
gets a push off. It was a pick him and
they tied in the preseason.
Speaker 7 (17:16):
Only if you had the money line, if you were
sitting on the Cincinnati Bengals plus the points the game
goes final noted up at thirteen, and you're able to
cash that underdog ticket. Game of course stays under the total,
and it's all about the number in the Giants and
Panthers game, falling twenty one to nineteen. But that number
never really moved off of three all week. So you
saw a little bit of Matt Carrall, you saw a
(17:37):
little bit on the other side of the Giants, and
all in all, a pretty sloppy game for the most part.
Once the starters left.
Speaker 6 (17:44):
Dodd, I have the Giants minus three up. How do
you blow a twenty one to three halftime lead in
the preseason?
Speaker 5 (17:50):
How do you do that? Though?
Speaker 7 (17:51):
I mean, look, Arnie, you can't sell any of these
quarterbacks short. I mean you look at the Carolina depth
chart and what they were able to accomplish out there.
You're not going to be able to overcome the bane
of your existence. Shake Lutan, who goes to throws one
touchdown pass which was ultimately your demise.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
Six and nine now are my picks.
Speaker 6 (18:13):
I started off three and one and I've gone three
and eight in my last eleven.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
I had.
Speaker 7 (18:20):
One of your deals just means you're due, right, Chris,
that's the game. Arnie's officially due.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
No one will let you know their betting record better
than Arnie Spaniel will tod. I'm curious, are you finding
much value in these preseason games or not.
Speaker 7 (18:34):
Market's a lot different now than what it used to be.
You're seeing a lot of these games move very quickly
early on in the week. There's a little bit of buyback,
but even getting some of the best numbers, the professional
betters that I've spoken to are looking just to kind
of take advantage of some of the middling opportunities that
are out there. I mean, there's nothing wrong in a game,
for example, like last night, where you have a chance
to go under a total of thirty nine, you go
(18:56):
over thirty five, and a worst case scenario, you're paying
a little bit of juice to game falls right on
the number at eighteen eighteen, and you end up collecting
both sides of the equation. So it's always important this
time of year to get the best of it, to
try and get that information do with it what you
will please. But there's no guarantee, by any stretch of
the imagination that just because you have the closing line
(19:17):
value in a game like the Bears and Colts that's
been met from two to five that you're automatically going
to cash anymore than it's a indicator on Monday Night,
where we've already seen the Ravens in that long winning
streak under coach Harbaugh, move from a four and a
half point road favorite in the nation's capital to now
just a modest one point favorite.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Again.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
Wow, you know, you talk about middling it.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
There's a couple of dangerous numbers out there on Kansas
City and that's a big number seven and a half
on the road against the Cardinals. I don't know if
that's a middling, you know type number there unless it
drops down a whole number, and then Seattle Dallas is
right in seven right now. So I imagine the Sharps
are just kind of waiting to play both sides.
Speaker 7 (19:56):
You know, a lot of these games, as soon as
the information breaks in terms of what the player are
roations are going to look like, books are going to
respond accordingly. In Kansas City has come out and said
they planned to play Patrick Mahomes along with the rest
of their starters from quarter to a quarter and a half.
Similar situation in Seattle where we saw Drew Locke get
a lot of burned last game against the Minnesota Vikings.
And that's the one thing that Pete Carroll has said
(20:17):
that he wants to give Drew Locke plenty of time
to get reps, even if it's with the second or
third stringers that are out there, and that obviously gives
you a little bit more confidence in terms of what
you're going to get from the quarterback position. But for
every big number that you see out there, you have
a scenario like David Blau that led the Arizona Cardinals
not just to the back door cover last week against
the Denver Broncos all but through that backdoor with an
(20:38):
outright win converting a two point conversion. So when you're
talking about some of the volatility in these preseason markets,
it's not, in my opinion, the cash cow that he
used to be for professional betters, and a lot of
it is they just can't move nearly as much money,
so don't pay the same level of attention that you
would have in years past.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Yeah, and you also never know.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
You might have that philosophy where we're going to play
some starters for a minute, but as soon as so
someone gets deemed it changes everything, all right, No pull
all the starters out. So I was impressed by the way.
Speaking of starters in the game tonight. I'm not trying
to get too carried away here, but Daniel Jones looks
like he's got himself a friend in Darren Waller, and
we'll see obviously with Saquon Barkley becoming a more of
(21:18):
a factor. Could the Giants be a sneaky overpick and
they're over underwin total? You think or do you think
they come back to Earth a bit?
Speaker 7 (21:25):
I think their schedule is going to prove to be
very challenging, and we look at the roster. While they're
more talented, it may not necessarily show up in the
wins and losses. Colin, but you have to like the
coaching staff, especially with an offensive mind of philosophy with
Brian Dable. The fact that the Giants were able to
retain Mike Kafka, I know there was some flirtations with
his alma mater and potentially taking over that program in
(21:45):
the Big Ten, but elected to stay and continue working
with Daniel Jones. But you mentioned Darren Waller, and he
did feature quite prominently on that opening drive targeted a
number of times, appears to have a chemistry and a
rapport already with Daniel Jones. I think the biggest question
with Waller, who's on the wrong side of thirty, is
will he be able to stay healthy for the better
part of a seventeen game schedule dealt with some soft
(22:07):
tissue injuries as a member of the Raiders. The cold
weather not exactly conducive to the bigger fella, But there
is no doubt when you look at that Giants as
far as their options in the passing attack, Darren Waller
appears to be number one and we'll see exactly how
that receiving core takes shape. Knowing that they finished the
year with the likes of Richie James and Isaiah Hodgins
as their number one and number two, far cry from
(22:28):
what they anticipated until they get some of their players
healthy like a Sterling Shepherd, Wan Dale Moore and others.
Speaker 6 (22:33):
You know, Todd everybody, well, everybody on this Plott except
for Chris Plank. We already know that six of the
divisions already been decided Jacksonville, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Minnesota, the
Saints in San Francisco, so pretty much that's all in
the bank. What does one hundred dollars or sixteen parlay
pay on something like that? What five to six seventh out.
Speaker 7 (22:54):
The year one hundred dollars? Partly there'll pay zero because
I'll go out and say that there is no chance
that all six of those division wins that you are
so confident in winning their division already are going to
materialize as such. But when you look at the NFL,
we see a year in year route, there's always a
team that goes from worse to first, and I think
that becomes a little bit of the needle in the haystack.
We know about how uneven the NFC East has been,
(23:16):
that we haven't had a repeat champ in that division
over the last eighteen seasons, and two teams that have
attracted professional money that aren't favorites to win their respective divisions.
You saw money come in on the Tennessee Titans at
a price north of four to one before they signed
DeAndre Hopkins, and you've also seen money come in on
the Atlanta Falcons as well. A lot of optimism about
what Desmond Rider can do with a full offseason in
(23:37):
Arthur Smith's system, and if you look at Atlanta's schedule,
they don't exactly play a murderer's role of opposing quarterbacks
the first seven eight weeks.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
How is the buzz around my beloved Raiders? So I'm
very negative Rooting for Caleb Williams is there? It seems
like they've performed pretty well the two joint practices that
they've had, But is there any positive vibes at all?
Are we starting to see that turn at all?
Speaker 7 (24:00):
I mean, after his performance against the forty nine ers.
I think they're already beginning construction of an Aidan O'Connell
statue outside of Allegiance Stadium. So when you talk about
the great Raiders greats the pantheon of elite quarterbacks right
alongside ken Stable and rich Gannon, maybe Aidan O'Connell will
become the next name. But this is a team that
I think, when you look at up and down the roster,
Chris just going to be tough for them to compete
(24:21):
in the landscape of the AFC, especially in the AFC West.
You mentioned KYLEB. Williams, and while there's a lot of
talk out here about what it would mean if this
team could go too in fifteen and put themselves in
the mix for Drake may or Caleb Williams. I really
believe that would probably provide the most positive trajectory. But
they're not going to go down without a fight. I
just think it's tough to take a lot away from
(24:43):
some of these preseason games, and we'll obviously have to
reserve a little bit of judgment until we see them
match up against the resurrected body of this Denver Broncos
offense and see what exactly Russell Wilson and Sean Payton
can put forth. On September tenth, number Tine.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
I called this first.
Speaker 6 (24:58):
If this happens, you're gonna give me credit for this.
When the Raiders start next year, their starting quarterback will
be Caleb Williams, their coach will be Bill Belichick, and
Tom Brady obviously part owner.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
So that you don't steal that from me, I want
you to know that.
Speaker 7 (25:14):
Is there a reason why Bill Belichick would want to
make the trip from New England out here and take
over a reclamation project working for Mark Davis as head
coach instead of just retiring Arnie.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
Yeah, there's a bunch of reasons on that. That's a
very good question, Todd.
Speaker 6 (25:29):
Maybe because finishing last with the Patriots isn't going to
taste well. Also, kind of a changing of the guard. Also,
Tom Brady being part owner and maybe he can go
in in entice Belichick by maybe giving him a little
bit of a piece of the team. I think Belichick
could be ready for something new at that point. It's
(25:50):
like a perfect storm. I can see that all happening.
Speaker 7 (25:53):
Yeah. I mean, if Belichick's ready for something new, it
may be a new beach home in Nantucket or Block
Island somewhere out there in the New England area. You're
looking for a coach and quarterback marriage that I think
could work. I wouldn't be shocked if the Rams were
to struggle this year make a move to stets In
Bennett sooner rather than later. Matthew Stafford didn't look to
be himself. Sean McVay decided he had seen enough of
(26:14):
the NFL and the Rams would do everything they could
if they had the first overall pick to lure the
tandem of Kayleb Williams and of course his college coach
and Lincoln Riley just not changing addresses, just playing at
a different level.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
So you're stealing Lincoln from Vegas to Los Angeles. I
like the way you're thinking, because I've already got him
coach in Vegas next year with Kayleb Williams. All right, Todd,
we'll bug on Sunday night. Man, can't wait. Have a
great start to the week and appreciate your time.
Speaker 7 (26:38):
Always a pleasure, gentlemen. Have a great arrest of your
Friday nights to get on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
Yeh, we see man.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
That's Todd Furman Bet the Board podcast here on Fridays
and of course every Sunday Night with Arnie and I
here on Fox Sports. Rady, all right, de Seger, Let's
see what's going on in the world of sports, because
what everything's a final now?
Speaker 8 (26:56):
Not quite, although we gave the Dodger game as a
final like two hours ago. Yeah, there are still ball
games going. One thing about that Todd mentioned the worst
to first in the NFL. People need to realize this.
Literally almost every year for the last two decades, somebody
that was last place in their division lafe.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
Each team of the last twenty seasons.
Speaker 8 (27:14):
In other words, since they went to this realignment, we
went to this current format of divisions. When the Houston
Texans became a franchise, and they created the AFC South
two thousand and two, and that's when they created the
NFC South and said, Okay, we're only going to have
four teams in each divisions, and there's four divisions in
each conference, and this works out perfectly because you have
(27:36):
thirty two totals, sixteen in each conference, four in each division.
So yeah, it's eighteen of the last twenty years. Jacksonville
last year a last place team that wound up winning
the AFC South. What about this year? The Jets have
finished last three straight years in their divisions.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
Saints, for sure, It's guaranteed.
Speaker 8 (27:53):
Cleveland's been a last place team. Atlanta, there are always
options on this. As for the update from Dodger State,
it is Marlin's eleven three over La bottom of the
eighth inning. Marlins hit five home runs in three and
a third innings off Dodger starter Tony Gonsolin. Meanwhile, the
Padres won four to nothing over Arizona with four runs
(28:13):
in the bottom of the eighth Fernando Tatist Junior with
a two run homer, his twentieth. The Angels got an
early grand Slam from sho hey Otani is forty third
home run of the year. But the Rays and Angels
are tied six six in the top of the.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
Tenth right now.
Speaker 8 (28:27):
Amazingly, the Angels turned a triple play to keep it
tied in the top of the ninth inning. It was
looking like a double play. They got the out at second,
then the out at first, and then the other runner
tried to score, and they threw home and got him.
So for those keeping score at home, the first ever
six four to three to two triple play in the
history of Major League Baseball. Again, they're in the tenth
(28:49):
tied in Anaheim. The Orioles are currently two games over
Tampa Bay for first place in the Al Ease. Baltimore
gets to play at Oakland this weekend, and the O's
are winning tonight nine with the A's in the bottom
of the ninth. Yes, everything else is final. Wins for
Milwaukee and Seattle. Boston sent the Yankees to a sixth
straight loss. Cincinnati had a home run bottom of the
(29:10):
ninth to beat Toronto won nothing lost to Jordan Hicks.
Each team only had three hits until then. The home
run from Christian ng Kernacion Strand, the longest name in
MLB history. Detroit split a doubleheader at Cleveland, and yes,
we had two NFL exhibitions, one of which was a
tie because of a late Atlanta field goal at home
thirteen to thirteen. The final against the Bengals Giants held
(29:33):
down over Carolina twenty one to nineteen. The Women's World
Cup third place game is very late tonight Sweden at
Australia four am Eastern Time on Fox TV. Sweden is
the only nation to finish in the top three in
each of the last three big events. Second at the
last Olympics. Sweden was third at the last World Cup
four years ago. Before that, second at the Rio Olympics.
(29:55):
A reminder of the final is early Sunday morning, England
against Spain from Sydney, also on Fox. That'll be six
am Eastern Time on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
Back to you, thanks Steve de Seger's got more coming

Speaker 4 (30:58):
The way tire buying be all right, you want some tweets?
Speaker 5 (31:02):
Yeah? Yeah, whatever it is some Yeah, I like to
call it. Now, do you call it x'es or what?
Speaker 4 (31:07):
You know what?
Speaker 3 (31:07):
I didn't even think about the until I was listening
to you and Jason last week.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
I've never called it x I've just always said twitter.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
So until that becomes some sort of dirty word that
we're not able to say, I don't think I'm going
to be able to break myself of it.
Speaker 6 (31:22):
And by the way, you and a couple of other
host s used to be upset, right, why.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
Is that you're no longer going to be able to
block people. I don't really block people. I don't block anybody.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
In fact, I think a majority of my blocks are advertisements.
It's like, well, why am I seeing this stupid advertisement
that they now kind of make that it's not an advertisement?
And you look at it's like, why is this on
my timeline? You're like, oh, it's an ad So I.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
Get fulled for that all the time.
Speaker 6 (31:53):
I was going to buy some Nike high tops just today,
some Kobe high tops for twenty dollars.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
But I'm like, I don't is that real? Is that real?
I don't think that's real.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
I don't even know.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
I blocked a few people, but then't I'll I'll like
after the show, I'm like, about I block them?
Speaker 4 (32:08):
Who cares?
Speaker 3 (32:09):
Let them be, let them have their miserable existence. I'm fine.
So if I have you blocked, obviously it's gonna change.
Because what you can't block people anymore, but you can
block them from sending you dms is that I don't know.
Speaker 6 (32:22):
What I don't know, But I'm good, you know, because
there people here that will block or you know, other
other hosted producers.
Speaker 5 (32:28):
So yeah, I'm glad you can't block anybody.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Really, people will block other hosts and producers.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
Tell me more, Arnie, spill the tea here in.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
The final sec God, it would you stop? You know? Stop?
Speaker 4 (32:42):
I like this sweet.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
By the way, the Saints, according to Truck or Joe
right now, are the betting favorites in the NFC South. Now,
betting favorites does not mean guaranteed the division is over.
Speaker 5 (32:53):
No, but you knew they were the favorites.
Speaker 6 (32:55):
So is Philadelphia, Minnesota, Kansas City, San Francisco.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
Maybe are you? Did the favorites always win all the time?
Speaker 6 (33:02):
No, that's why I only picked them in five of
the divisions, and I gave you a six.
Speaker 5 (33:06):
One that wasn't the favorite.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
Which one wasn't the favorite?
Speaker 6 (33:08):
The one that wasn't the favorite was Jacksonville. I all
less they are? Maybe I think they are. Gosh, you're
so chalk. You used to be this creative, upset finding guy.
Now you just go, that's college football.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
Yeah, being a let around.
Speaker 6 (33:22):
Wow, I'm the upset guy in college football.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
You know that.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
That's right. I don't think You're very good at that.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
But I'll give it to you, Bob Wrights, aren't your
one hundred percent right about the Niners? Joey Bosa will
be there on opening day. I'd bet a month's pension
on that they have no competition. Not sure about the Vikings.
I'm thinking Lions, Bob, Bob, I will bet you my
my salary for an entire year versus your pension that
(33:52):
there is no way Joey Bosa is on the Niners
on opening day. Wow, because you say that, because it's
Nick Bosa that's on the nunber.
Speaker 5 (34:02):
Okay, there you go, So.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
I win, Bob literal literal, Bob our literal playing here. Yeah,
I know who you meant. And then Sean our Man,
that shady Sean fort twenty rights. How about my Titans, Arnie,
zero respect?
Speaker 6 (34:15):
Un believable, it deserves zero respect, don't you why?
Speaker 4 (34:22):
Good football team?
Speaker 5 (34:23):
I am every year?
Speaker 6 (34:23):
Now every year it's like your tradition like no other.
When you know when he comes in with his Titans, Bs.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
What's a tradition unlike any other? It's a team that
made the playoffs. Last year was the first time that
they missed the playoffs in three years and they went
to the AFC Championship Game.
Speaker 6 (34:40):
What a great run they had it that losing their
last seven in a row. That really left the good taste.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
Ye, the quarterback got hurt. They made a bad trade
with aj Brown. But I don't know you You're you're
tending to write teams off rather quickly. I think, Arnie Spaniard,
I think you're giving up on some teams too quickly.
And you giving the Jaguars that division is shocking, right, Yes.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
You know what you know.
Speaker 6 (35:04):
I've always been a big Trevor Lawrence fan. Again, you
guys are sleeping on them all over again. There's not
a lot of bus coming into this year.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Well that's what happens when you're not new fresh. You
gotta have everything that's new and fresh.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
To be sold.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
I guess hey, when we come back to Sagar's got
an update on all the things that are going on
around us. And for Jason Smith and Mike Harmon, that's
Arnie Spaniel. I'm Chris Plank. I feel like we're just
getting started here.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
All right, It'sarny and plank Infra, Jason and Mike. What's
going on? Steve Desager? Got a lot going on around
the sports world.
Speaker 8 (36:16):
I had mentioned that the Angels turned to triple play
in the ninth inning to stay tied. Well, they're down now,
top of the tents, raised nine to six over the Angels.
So a game that had a Shoho Tani Grand Slam
early and a lead once again means nothing. If the
Halos lose, they will be sixty and sixty three on
the side.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
Pretty good.
Speaker 8 (36:36):
Apparently, the Angels were the team that had gone the
longest since their last triple play until tonight. Their last
was in nineteen ninety seven. Started started by a line
out to Garrett Anderson's in a while. Meanwhile, the Orioles
have won it's looking like Tampa Bay is going to
win in extraading, so that keeps the Orioles two games
(36:56):
over Tampa Bay and the Ale standings. And by winning
the start of the weekend series at Oakland, this means
yet again Baltimore will not be swept. Going back to
last year, the Orioles have not been swept in a
series in their last seventy nine series in a row.
That is astounding. In other words, pretty much since Adley
(37:17):
Rushman came up for the Miners, he's never been sweating.
We do have a Raiders Rams exhibition game in Inglewood, California,
on Saturday night, and the weather will be fine, temperature
in the seventies, but then by Sunday morning, the showers
from the current hurricane below Spa, California will arrive in
southern California and in the same stadium, there's an NFL
(37:39):
exhibition with Chargers Saints on Sunday night. In fact, the
current forecast with a seven pm Eastern kickoff on Sunday
is for rain and squalls. Once again, I have never
seen this much less in a Southern California forecast, squalls
definition a sudden, violent gust of wind or localized storm,
the kind of word you would use at So it's
(38:02):
literally one hundred percent chance of rain. Also you don't
see that often, and winds of up to twenty miles
an hour. There is the translucent roof over the field.
The game itself would not be a problem as of now,
Charger Saints is on, but as we talked about, that's
the same stadium that hosted the College National Championship game
(38:22):
this past season as Georgia RiPP TCU. There was a
rainstorm outside and above each end zone. It is completely
open and the rain blue sideways. People got wet and
in the plaza cement surfaces covered in rain water. People
were slipping and some got injured. So there is that
aspect of it. The tropical storm watch for Southern California
(38:43):
was changed tonight to tropical storm warning, and it's not.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
Just for the La area there all.
Speaker 8 (38:49):
As we mentioned earlier in the show, the three Southern
California ball clubs each had their games for this Sunday
already rescheduled due to the approaching hurricane. They'll each play
doubleheaders on Saturday instead. Las Vegas is under floodwatch from
tomorrow through Monday as well, So there are places desert places,
especially where flash floods are a concern.
Speaker 5 (39:11):
Traffic will be a nightmare. Yeah, I do wonder.
Speaker 8 (39:14):
I do wonder as much as a year's worth of
rain could come in one day in parts of California, Arizona,
and Nevada. This weekend, well, the NBA trumpeted its new schedule,
and why not anything to get attention in the offseason.
I can understand why a league would do that, But
did you notice when they announced the five games for
Christmas only two of them are gonna be on ABC
(39:37):
now the other three are gonna be Cable Only they
did get killed in the ratings by the NFL last Christmas.
There is that, But also more to the point, Christmas
is on a Monday. December twenty fifth is a Monday.
So what the NFL is gonna do is there like Thanksgiving?
Gonna have three games on Christmas. A morning game is
(39:58):
gonna be Raiders at Kansas City, Christmas afternoon Fox TV
with the Eagles hosting the Giants, and then Christmas Night
Baltimore at San Francisco. Last year on Christmas, the NBA's
five games average TV ratings audience four point three million viewers.
NFL averaged twenty three million viewers for its three games,
(40:20):
and that included that blowout of the Broncos. That was
the Rams scoring fifty points before the coach got fired.
Speaker 5 (40:26):
Four million per game?
Speaker 8 (40:28):
Is it averaged the five games four million viewers, while
the NFL for three games averaged twenty three million viewers.
Even the rams fifty one fourteen victory over the Broncos
got twenty three million.
Speaker 5 (40:42):
Well, series gets more viewership in some of the games.
Speaker 8 (40:45):
Well, I'll go back to what I've said before, is
that three AM US soccer game in the Women's World
Cup a couple weeks ago US Portugal, with a zero
zero final starting at three am Eastern Time, had a
larger TV audience than most NBA regular season games last
year prime.
Speaker 5 (41:01):
Time it gets more than the NBA games come on.
Speaker 8 (41:04):
So you can throw out like Golden State Lakers Boston.
But as for the other NBA regular season primetime games.
Speaker 4 (41:10):
Yeah, they don't usually do that.
Speaker 5 (41:11):
Well.
Speaker 8 (41:12):
Update from Dodger Stadium. Shortstop Miguel Rojas is now pitching
the unit they are just bound and determined not to
use another real arm before we get to this double
header that they're having to to play tomorrow. He's given
up a deep fly to left center, but it's the
third out. It stays in the ballpark, so they go
(41:32):
to the bottom of the ninth. Marlins eleven to three
rally time, rally high for everybody off the bench.
Speaker 5 (41:40):
No action.
Speaker 8 (41:41):
This is like not quite preseason, but I feel like, oh,
nobody we've heard of it still playing in this game.
Speaker 3 (41:46):
Great stuff thanks to Zeger. All right, we've got several
Roman numerals still to hit. Yes on the Roman, plus
a lot of really good tweets as well.
