U c l A up twenty three ten now three
minutes to go, four halftime and they also have second
and goal on the Huskies nine after yet another big
(01:05):
play of chunk yardage. Uh. The Bruins, despite the fact
they will have more points than fans attending their games. Uh,
they could be five and Mike harmon U c l
A and Syracuse could both be five and oh after tomorrow.
I love college football. You know what. We have joked
a lot the last couple of weeks about the end
of the world as related to different converted No, look,
(01:26):
not talking about political climate, the economics and and near
stock portfolios or any of those things. Nothing about natural disasters.
My God, Good thoughts and prayers to everybody down there
along the coast. My folks checked in fine this morning,
but there was a period where we couldn't get ahold
(01:47):
of them, so some nervous moments. Hopefully those that have family, friends,
uh and business out there, you've been able to make
make contact and everybody's okay, So good thoughts there, um.
But we've talked about, just in sports, the convergence of
some really weird circumstances, struggling closers all harmonized with perfect nights,
(02:10):
bad teams suddenly are dominant Syracuse uh, and things of
that nature where we're just watching a little topsy turvy thing.
I mean, the Dolphins started three and oh you didn't
see that coming, did you. Your Eagles, even if you're
your Eagles. Eagles and the Bears are two in one
(02:32):
with a winnable game on Sunday, despite not being able
to complete the forward pass. It's a beautiful thing. It's
that might be the most shocking thing of all saved
the best or strangers for last. Uh So it is
that kind of night. It's that kind of night in
college football, field goal by u c l A. Now
(02:54):
they get stopped on third and goal. Maybe U c
l A O for watching? Suddenly? Chip Kelly is, Hey, everybody,
I can coach. I can coach. Can people thought I
I can coach? Again? Why is no one watching our game?
Why can't we get anybody to come to our games?
But I can coach, I can coach. Uh. Big weekend
(03:17):
coming up in the NFL. Also, its a big football Friday.
We are chock full of football Friday, uh content, all
kinds of fun stuff. So let's do this. Let's make
some week four bold predictions things we we I'm I am,
I I am predicting. We see each of these things
on Sunday. You're ready, Yeah, let's go. All right, I'm
(03:40):
gonna kick it off with this. I have told you
that drafting him second overall set the franchise back years
and it has because you don't draft a running back
second overall, and you don't make a running back the
focal point of your team. But the New York Giants said, hey,
it's we're gonna do whatever we want to do. So
they drafted a Kwon Barkley number two overall. And they've
(04:02):
never come back from that. They have never come back
from that spot. But I'm gonna tell you this, and
you might to close your yours, buddy, say, Kwon Barkley
is gonna run for like a buck fifty on Sunday
against your defense. You are just getting gashed against the run.
The Giants have no wide receivers. Sterling Shepherd is out.
They hate Kenny Golladay, they hate Candarius Tony. Uh, they're
(04:26):
gonna They're gonna suit up some guys you've never heard
of that are gonna walk in and play their first
game on Sunday. Hey, do I have to keep the
jersey at the end? Yes? Oh that's awesome. I don't
even have to pay me. I'll sign a waiver and everything.
They are going to run the football so much it's
their only game plan. And the return of Sa Kwan
amps up another week. He's gonna go for a buck
fifty tomorrow and suddenly it's gonna be look at stake Sake,
(04:48):
once back sake, once a guy. We thought he was
Sake One's great sake one sa Kwan that that that
will gain some steam because he's gonna have a huge
game on Sunday. Look at you. Uh, he may have
a huge game. Khalil her Rid's gonna match him, No,
David Montgomery. But the one thing the Bears have shown
is an ability in an aptitude to run the football.
(05:08):
And Khalil Herbert, he doesn't wait for things to happen.
He will run through you. Ask some of the Bears
offensive lineman that have imprints of his face mask in
their backs. So, uh yeah, I think I think we
get a nice little battle on the ground, a throwback
game in that way. In that uh your team, I
(05:28):
mentioned them, your Philadelphia Eagles. I think they get shocked. Wow,
because I've taken James Robinson, Travis e t N, Trevor
Lawrence and that offense led by Christian kirk well Z
Jones enough to to win in a bit of a shootout.
See that's that's my next one has to do with
this game, because this is this is one of those. Uh,
(05:51):
this is a gem of a game that people don't
think is a gem of the game. Right, because we
told you earlier this week, Trevor Lawrence, the arrival is coming. Right.
He is playing extremely well. He has been playing well
since the season began. He's a different quarterback under Doug Peterson.
Watch him play, you can see the same guy you
saw at Clemson. More decisive with his throws, more confident.
(06:12):
His body language is great. They're making plays, are getting
him outside the pocket. He is extremely accurate. Uh, it's coming,
and it's gonna be here this week. Because I'll tell
you this game, I'm gonna go bold. Both teams combine
for seventy points. It's not even the highest of the week.
They're gonna blow past this. This is gonna be This
(06:33):
is an absolute shootout. This is one of those thirty
eight thirty five kind of games, forty one thirty eight
kind of games. Because the Eagles are gonna score and
the Jaguars are gonna match him. It's that there, you
have two hot, ascending quarterbacks and that's what's gonna happen. Look,
Jacksonville's defense is good versus the run, but that's irrelevant.
They're not gonna run the football a ton. I mean,
(06:55):
I hope so because I have Miles Sanders in a
couple of weeks. But uh, they're not gonna run. They're
gonna throw, and it's gonna be It's gonna be a
It's gonna be one of those games where from the
beginning it's gonna be Wow, it's fourteen thirteen going to
the second quarter something crazy like that, seventy points on
the board between the Jags and the Eagles, and you're
gonna see huge days from Hurts and huge days from
(07:15):
Trevor Lawrence, and they'll be front and center once again
on Monday talking about them while Hurts maybe he was
a bit of last week. Oh it's a few minutes ago.
I remember I told you four the season Jalen Hurts
is gonna winever. Remember I told you that. But now
you're gonna see the ascension in the arrival of Trevor
Lawrence is coming. It's here, and it could be here
as early as Monday. Like we said this week, in
(07:37):
in a couple of weeks and two or three weeks,
we're gonna be talking about him as the guy we
thought coming out of Clemson, but the arrival is coming
seventy points in this game. Look at that. I love that.
I absolutely love this and I'm glad prospereds off tonight
Bo Benson in his stand high bow because the Houston Texans,
even though he plays not to lose. Uh Davis Mills
and company get to work against a bad, hanged up
(08:00):
Chargers defense and home. I can't believe you know what
Frostburg is gonna do. He's gonna know you made that pick. Well,
I was right last week because I said the Jaguars
were coming in and we're gonna thump them. That's exactly
what they did. You're gonna go out to see your
car and it's gonna look like Jefferson's car from Fast
Times in Richmond. Eye. No, well that's a car it's
(08:22):
gonna look like in Frostburg is gonna do it to it? Well,
you know what you I figured you were going to
add a scratch or um. You know the old key
your car routine. It's because it's more than that you
pick the Texans to beat the Chargers. No, no, it's
much more than key in your car. This is one
of those you know, uh Ridgemont die situations. We'll say, man,
(08:44):
if that, if that happens, then uh well you'll pay
for it. No no, no, no, no no, no no no,
this is your your the I I gave you No
all I did was making great bold prediction that that
Jaguars front gets home and he Herbert honest, no Keytan Allen,
no stats for days. Steve Tsaker is gonna have nothing
(09:04):
to do as a guy who follows the stats of
the Charge because they're no key to Allen and the
run game has been atrocious. People waiting on Austin Ekeler
to get off. This is not the week. All right,
I'll give you my last bold prediction for this week.
For the first time in a year, the Jets win
to get for the first time in a year. Baker
(09:27):
Mayfield goes for three hundred yards in the game. Arizona's
defense can't stop anyone throwing the football. They just can't.
They have a lot of problems. Now this is another game.
There's gonna be a shootout and there will be a
lot of points here. McCaffrie will still have a big game.
He'll have a big game catching the football as well.
But this is where Baker Mayfield gets a little bit untracked,
(09:48):
and as a three hundred yard game, he sees a
little bit of his Panthers mortality looking at him right now,
because Okay, you came in and we thought we were
gonna get something great and we we're gonna get a
new energy, and it was gonna be a different beginning,
and we we get We basically handed you the job
and said, Sam, Donald's not our guy. And you know
Donald got hurt, but it doesn't matter. You already won
(10:10):
the job. We handed you this job and we're one
and two. Um, Okay, let's see a little bit something
more here, because Mayfield has not been great and the
Panthers need something. I'm a big believer in Mayfield when
he sees something facing him, like, hey, if I don't
get it together, when Donald gets healthy again, he's gonna
(10:33):
he's gonna wind up winning this job back. Because you're
talking about back to back week. He hasn't even thrown
for two yards. Okay, I mean that's that's that's tough man.
Three touchdowns in three weeks. But this week is a
get well week for Baker, and Baker Mayfield is able
to get a little bit of breathing room. He goes
for three bills in this game. Wow, that is bold.
That so they're they're called both they're not if they
(10:55):
were just kind of bull No, no no, no, no no,
but I mean look look look, no, no, you get
my point. Thought, there's bold, and then there's really you're
gonna go there, there's bold. I mean that that. I
don't even know what to do. What what's the the
highest level of hyperbole when we say bold? Beyond super
bowls or whatever would be on you know, an extra
strength coffee or something, I don't know, Uh, potential for
(11:18):
chaos there. Uh. And then finally, uh, Las Vegas two
and a half point favorites at home forty five and
a half the worst, Well, unless I guess when the
Bears win, they'll still have the title. But the Broncos,
the Broncos will beat the Raiders to go three and one,
and we're still gonna be looking around going three and one. Boy,
the Broncos stink. They're not good. Situational football is terrible.
(11:42):
The penalties are awful. Ross is who he is. I
I don't I don't clown on right. I think it's
all fun and and you know that dange which uh
sandwich and all of that that was that's all fun
and games. I don't care about that. I just know
what's been bad football so far. But there's still gonna
be three and one, and we're gonna have more finger pointing,
and Davante Adams might really tell you what he thinks
(12:03):
of the world. And Derek Carr is gonna say about
how guys need to work harder again like he did
last week. Oh, it's it's gonna unravel. It's good. Is
this the worst three and one team in the history
of the NFL? Eight seven seven on? Right on, Hey,
we're gonna get that pole question up. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike
(12:25):
Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific. I'm
not doing well tonight, in Mike Harmon, I'm not doing well.
I'm not doing well. You're not able to pretend you're
not pulling a little Freddie Murky, one of my favorites,
well lover of live singer of songs. What's wrong? I'll
tell you right well. First of I'll tell you right now,
what do you eat? You eat ice cream? No? No, no, uh,
(12:46):
Zoe said, if I make cookies tonight, can I watch
Bohemian Rhapsody periously? Because I told you she's on a hue.
Oh my god, she sounds so young and that, Oh
my god, we've been doing this show a long time. Said,
if I make cookies tonight, can I wach Bohemian raps
Because I told her she has been on this big
David Bowie queen kick the last few months. Well, welcome
to the party. Yeah, loving their songs and everything that.
(13:07):
I said, yeah, sure, So she said, you gotta make
sure you put extra chocolate chips in there. So she
made chocolate chip cookies. And now she's watching Bohemian Raapsody
for the first time. Oh, take her to go see
moon Age Daydream this weekend. We're supposed to tell you,
we were supposed to go last weekend, but we couldn't,
so now we're gonna probably go on Sunday. I were
probably gonna go again tomorrow. Like that. It was that good.
(13:30):
I think there's a lot more to be seen, the uh,
the wisdom and stuff out of the interviews, the visuals obviously,
and and the soundtrack is just killer, including some that
you may not expect to find its way into a film.
Going I don't remember that one? Yeah, alright, and that
I mean, it's become a thing. When she leaves for
(13:50):
school anymore. We play the beginning to Uh. They mock
it constantly because I think it happened on TikTok the
Dancing in the Streets of Bowie Jagger America. Okay, no,
because didn't wasn't a TikTok. They did it with without
any any words, Yes, right, there was no audio with
(14:12):
just so it's like, what the hell is going on here? Yeah?
Looking off derided song and but a video that got
a lot of play on MTV. Two of the great
singers of our time, and uh yeah, it's it's a classic.
So I send her off to work with that. Uh wait,
you can't leave yet, and then off she goes. I
(14:34):
do that or I'm gonna sing star man. Oh no, Dad,
play the song, play the song. No we we we
start singing, Oh you pretty things A little bitter in
the days. Yeah, well, you gotta go a little bit
off the beaten path. That's true. That's true. You do.
You can't just go with the greatest hits all the time.
But I'm not great today, Bob, not great, not great,
not great. The Graham Day came and went, and de
(14:55):
Gram got shelled for what shelling de Gram. He gives
up eleven home runs to Night or not that like Jack's.
It was a bad night and he left with a
blister and the Mets lose to the Braves, and now
the Mets are tied with the Braves for first place.
Now in the grand Pantheon of things, the Braves needed
this game much more. The Mets really need to take
just one out of these. But you know, I just
(15:18):
I'm watching him. You know, I'm always thinking disasters around
every corner. They're probably gonna beat us or tomorrow, and
they're probably gonna win on Sunday, and suddenly the Mets
are not gonna win the division. There be playing in
the early round. But the de Grom thing, it's I really,
it's it's finally hit me tonight because I've told you,
like my season long goodbye to him is going on,
because I know the Mets aren't going to keep him,
(15:39):
And tonight was the first time where I was where
I was mad because I said, this is this is
what they pay him for, this is what they need
him for these last few starts, and he is stunk
he has just stunk for de Grom, because when you're
the best pitcher in baseball, yeah, when you play the
Braves in the game, you kind of you know, you
(16:00):
need to set the tone. You gotta have one of
these games and you're the best pitcher in baseball and
you lose, and your e r A is now over
three for this season. There, you know that that's good
for many other people the rest of Major League Baseball,
and the r A of three people would kill for it.
This is not what the Gram gets paid for. This
is not this is not the performance that was expected.
(16:21):
And while I wasn't surprised the Mets lost, I thought
they would lose one. Nothing that I didn't think Suddenly
he'd go and give up three runs, back back to
back home runs and then leave with a blister in
the sixth inning. It's like all the de Grom greatest
hits of why you can't why you can't trust him,
and why you can't pay him money all just came
to came home to roost in one game. Here it
(16:42):
is when he's not elite boy, he really it really
takes the wind out of your sales. And the thing
is for for a guy like de gram if he's
like this once in a while, but he's available all season, Okay,
you take that because a guy that has any are
a of round three or a little bit less and pitches, Okay,
you take that for all season, but he's not around
(17:06):
the whole season. So when he's not around the whole season,
all right, then you need him to be as elite.
Jacob deGrom that he's been the best pitcher in baseball
the last seven years. It's not even been closed. Probably
one of the top three right handed pitchers I've ever
seen him, Greg Maddox, Roger Clemens, and you know Clemons,
you know had some help. But uh, it's just it
hit me tonight and I was mad, and I was upset,
(17:28):
and I was I was pissed, I was all these emotions.
I just gave you three redundant words because I'm not
doing well, buddy, I'm not. And and this was a
game that just it deflated me in this because it
was a game. You think you're gonna get to Graham
on the mound. It's a big game. He's a big
game pitcher. He's done this and look at what happened.
And it's not that this is the first game he's
(17:49):
pitched poorly. It's it's it's in a string of games
that he hasn't pitched great, and I don't know. At
this point, I'm like, I feel like, yeah, I might
have seen the last game he's ever pitched for the Mets,
because with a blister, maybe he's able to pitch the
next game. Maybe he's not, and it could be one
more game and that's it for the season. So it's
a it's a it's a rough night because I know
I've been saying goodbye all season, but now the goodbye
(18:11):
is actually here, and I'm trying to convince myself that
I've known this is coming and it was gonna be
it because the Mets can't pay him forty five million
dollars a year next year, because you can't do that
to a guy who's gonna be thirty five and can't
stay healthy. It's just not smart. It's just not smart business, right.
It's a if they didn't learn from Cespitics, what what?
What else you're gonna learn from? Boy? The guy's great.
You know what's gonna happen when you sign him? I
(18:32):
will give him four years and a hundred million look
what happened. I think the guy played four games after
that and they finally just got done paying him. So
I I I really, it's it's a tough night because
I know I'm saying goodbye to him at the same
time I'm pissed and and and if you tell me, hey,
at the end of the year to Graham goes, I'm like, good, good.
He can go someplace else and the Mets can bring
in a picture or somebody else that you know you
(18:54):
can count on. That's not every time he throws a
pitch you think he's going to the injured list. And
then on top of it, maybe he's not as elite
as he was a couple of years ago. That's a
tough decision to make, man, And I'm and if that's
the end, this is the end. But sometimes ends can
be tough. Yeah, And I'm trying to harness all of
your emotions that are swirling about. I mean, you are
(19:16):
Ron Burgundy smashing against the small cell that is that
phone booth, which is funny and itself because you think
about the fact that there used to be phone booths
on every street corner and people would fight, uh to
be able to use them. And then now and then
then when their final throws. It was if you were
going into that phone booth. People were making assumptions about
(19:37):
why you were going into that phone booth. So now
we have you in your glass case of emotions trying
to figure this all out right. The expectation for your
star pitchers are that they're never gonna falter. You expect
that the offenses will not show up to support your
aces and everybody out there, whatever baseball team, uh, you
(19:58):
have followed through your lives, you know at well, it's
gonna be a rough day. You're not getting a lot
of run support. Every once in a while you'll have
an eight run explosion, but most of the time it's
a all right, we're into the seventh it's one nothing,
maybe to nothing. Uh, you got a really big cushion
at to nothing. Right, And for you watching this flow
and and up until maybe what three weeks ago, it
(20:20):
was a charmed season. La la la. Everything's floating about, Oh,
that guy's hurt them matter still cruising, We're good. Object
in rear view mirror appears to be getting closer. But hey,
la la la, first place here we go. Guys start
getting healthy and then you're you're complaining and um crying
over the fact that guy gave you six innings of
(20:42):
three rung run ball and now he's a bum. That's
the kind of what you just said in a very
no no, no, no, no no. They listen. If he
was just as Elits whatever else, if he was Carlo
Carlos Carrasco, or if he was Taiwan Walker said, hey,
he pitched a game. He gave up three solo home runs.
(21:02):
It happens because that's who these pictures are. They're good.
You're talking about the best picture in baseball. And this
is this is what the Dodgers have lived with with
Clayton Kershaw. Just when they need him most, what happens
Clayton Kershaw. He gives up a bunch of runs in
the sixth and thing of a playoff game with the Cardinals. Right,
this is what happens when Kershaw gets into the postseason.
Why is he This is when we need him the
most and he doesn't come through. And this is when
(21:25):
the Mets everything else that's going on with Jacob Degram
of all the stops and starts. If I'm opting out
of my contract, uh you know, I'm injured, I can't pitch.
It's a full year before he comes back. You wonder
they had to take time away. Is he all right?
He's got a capsule in his shoulder they have to
worry about. It's for all these things. Okay, okay, yeah,
but when you come back, we're paying you a lot
(21:46):
of money, man, and you you need to be that guy.
We're paying you to be that guy. And when you're like,
when you're not that guy, what else can you say?
So you're not dependable, we can't count on you. And
and now you're not as a lead as you were,
and we have a big time decision to make. Do
we want to give you forty five million dollars a
year when your last few starts that have really could
(22:07):
have helped us have instead just killed us. Well, I
want to do this for debate talk. I did a
Google search of best picture in baseball. Let's go through
the results, shall we? Surezer Kershaw, Cole Verlander, Zach Wheeler. Okay,
you darvish, Zach Wheeler. That's that's already. You know that
(22:29):
list is bad. And then Cy Young pops in right
there just ahead of show. Hey, Otani, let's debate. I
thought that was funny, But yeah, it's because you're like, hey,
Zach Wheeler, Okay, Uh, there's you Darvish okay. And there's
Cy Young's black and white photo from a century ago.
(22:50):
A couple of slots down after Otani, uh Eovaldi and
um Lance Lynn is Walter Johnson, who comes in just
the head of Greg Maddox, who's just ahead of Christy Mathewson.
So there's your list. If you do the danger of
quick google searches, people gotta go a little more and
more specificity. But I understand your who was better the
(23:13):
big trainer Jacob deGrom. You know people are gonna try
calling and now Bow is gonna be in and dated
with that? Is this the best season of all time
for Max Scherzer? Wait here, wait, Walter Johnson's great great
great grandson is calling in. Let's talk about what family. No. Look,
so I get your frustration, but you've played meaningful baseball
(23:39):
and now you're trying to push ahead and you're already
The way you're speaking and Alex and Bow you can
back me up on this. The way he's speaking, gentleman,
is that he it's a foregone conclusion that they're not
winning the World series absolutely that how you're hearing this
that he's not gonna pitch, that they're gonna fail, it's
(24:00):
gonna be all for not. And then all of a
sudden there's got to be a contract decision after they lost. Hey,
it may be it may be goodbye and and and
when you're faced with goodbye, you're faced with emotions. I'm
a realist. They could look do I do? I think
the Mets are good enough tw yeah, sure, but in
in reality I know they could just blow chunks the
rest of this series against the Braves, and then in
(24:21):
the first round of the playoffs, the Padres win three
in a row and suddenly they were great, We're the Padres. Now.
I'm a realist, man, I get that could happen. So
when you need to say goodbye, it's a little bit emotional, right.
It's just like when when you finish high school and
your friends start going off to college. You say, when
are you leaving for college Friday? Or hanging out Tuesday? Right? Yeah?
And then Tuesday night comes at the end You're like, oh, dude,
(24:42):
I may not see you again. Well, we're really best friends.
Maybe I'll see but you know, tomorrow you're probably busy.
I gotta work Thursday. Leaving friend. Oh this is goodbye. Wow, Suddenly,
now I'm faced with emotions saying goodbye to you as
you leave for college, and who knows if we'll be
friends because you make it, they're gone your own life.
You know that's you know that that that's suddenly when
your face with that, you have to deal with it.
And I'm dealing with it. I'm faced with that tonight
(25:03):
because here he is with a blister. Maybe he doesn't
pitch anymore. I mean, I'm hoping he does. I'm hoping
it's okay because he was taken out after six innings
with with a blister. But I'm hoping that he but
he may not. I'm a realist. As I told you,
disaster lurks around every corner. As a Mets fan, you
have to understand this. I know. Disaster is right there.
Disaster sits on your shoulder like a pirate with a parrot.
(25:25):
It just sits right there, and you can be feeling
so great going I'm feeling great, and then suddenly Iago
goes Jaffa, Jaffa. The Mets just lost three in a
row to the Padres. They're out and Jacob de Rob's
never gonna pitch for the team again. What do you
think about that? Jaffar Jaffar, Jeff I got that's kind
of how it is. Jaffar Jaffar eight seven seven ninety
nine on Foxes the Number to figure out what Iago
(25:49):
just said. I'm sorry, buddy, I'm I'm sorry. It's hurting
your soul. Uh, and that a blister made derail all
your postseason hopes and dreams, all those months of addling
big hits, the great year that Pete Alonso had, because
we celebrate Pete Alonso here on this show. I mean,
he's a guy that looks like every man USA. He's
(26:09):
not chiseled, he's not sculpted. He's just big, sizeable man. Uh.
Fantastic season and you basically declared it dead Mets fans
at how about a fresca is where you get ahold
of him? Now? Jason Smith's show with my best friend
Mike Carman. It's a it is, it is a it is.
I'm a glass case of emotions with this tonight. It's
(26:30):
a it's tough. It's I've been listening to you. You
and I have been going back and forth a little
bit off off air here and and I got I'm
a little worried for you. I mean, the only thing
that could save you is a big start from Zach Willson.
Syracuse does play Wagner tomorrow, that's okay, And then we
(26:52):
have a scrimmage and then we have a bye so
five and oh and a bye that might be as
good as it gets me for serial. By then the
Mets will be done. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah
yeah yeah it could happen. Well, you pick me right
up there, buddy, Thanks a lot appreciate. But you know
who hit a home run tonight? Hey, Alex g number
seven oh one? Can you play the uh the name
(27:14):
for me? I'm so excited. Tysher's not paying attention. He's
he's building grunts and he's watching the next episode of
House with the Dragon on. He might be building a
house for a dragon. He is, Oh, he could be. Oh,
I don't know. Maybe it's a wizard. Now, don't you
know that? Hey? Is? Is there is there a House
the Dragon? Onom that you do anything tight shirt or no,
(27:36):
so like talking about House of the Dragon is what
you're saying or anything else like with some kind of
content with that not really, because I'm kind of waiting
for its end because right now it sucks, so I
really don't want to say much about him, Like I'm
one of those guys where I have to see it
completed before I give judgment. Right now it's not good,
So I'm kind of I'm until the end of the
season and then I'll decide again, too much house, not
(27:59):
enough drag. I just feel it's gonna be the same
thing like Game of Thrones. We're just gonna build up
to nothing. So I hope was the same thing as
Game of Thrones. At least people are are, you know,
dying and getting killed off the show, and they're dying
horrendous deaths, and it's you know, it's shocking and it's stunning.
This has just been slow and it's been dull, and
for a show that has had people die the way
(28:19):
that people have died, it's still I can't believe that
it's still dull. And I've got this is just it's
I get you're doing Succession meets Game of Thrones meets
the Crown, But wow, man, there's there's time for I'm
watching going I think I just fell asleep there for
a minute. What did I miss Let me go back,
Let me go back? I think I fell asleep there
for me. I've done that a few times. Definitely did that.
It's because it's their targarian's dude, they're like the prime
(28:41):
creme de la creme. They're they're they're dragon bears for
God's sake, like they're supposed to be something epic, but
we're just sitting there like, Okay, more kids, This is fun. Yeah,
it's like watching the Mets game. It was supposed to
be better, but now it's just I'm watching this and
I'm watching these. At least you got at least you
accepted the Mets sucks, so that's cool. Be sure to

(29:45):
Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harman from the Tirac dot com studios. And I
want you to clear your head for a second as
you get to the latest involving two A tunnel Lola
head coach Mike McDaniel. Today, A stands by how TA
was handled. Uh. There was no concussion against the Bills.
It was a back injury, right uh, and that they
(30:08):
handled everything correctly. He passed all the tests. He's back
with the team in Miami today. He's feeling better though.
We did have a headache this morning, so we went
in for tests. And the Dolphins are standing by everything
they did for two of all. Right, when you think
of it, how I'm going to break it down, You're
gonna understand the gross negligence that the Dolphins are responsible for,
(30:32):
even if everything they say checks out, all right, because
let's give them the benefit of the doubt. Let's just
say that everybody they talked to, he was cleared by
an independent neurologist. He's able to go back in the game.
He passed concussion protocol, did or didn't need to go
in concussion protocol, He passed whatever tests they gave him,
and he went back out on the field and got
hurt on Thursday night. Let's just say all of that
(30:54):
is true. Everything they did, the test that they gave him,
they tested him for concussion. He asked, all right, even
if they did that, you still took a guy that
got hurt on Sunday and hit his head and fell
down when he tried to get up, and you put
him back in the game, and on a short week,
(31:15):
you still put him back on the field where he
got injured so shockingly and so dangerously that he had
to be carted off and sent to the hospital. It
looked like he hit his head really hard his next
snap back, and that was it. You still put an
injured guy back out there on Sunday and said, in
a short week, yes, we're gonna put you back out
(31:35):
there to play. This is still negligence and still the
absolute wrong thing you do with players in the National
Football League. Even if they passed it, you could you
could talk about other guys. Forget about a brain injury
for a second. Let's say someone's trying to come back
from a hip injury or a knee injury. What do
they need to do. They need to hit benchmarks, right,
(31:56):
they need to hit benchmarks if they're able to go play.
And let's say a player I hit the benchmarks, hit
the benchmarks, Well, can he still play? Maybe he might
not be the same guy, and yeah, maybe he could
get hurt again. No, you know what, let's keep him
out another week. We'll roll with somebody else and we'll see. Like,
just think about it from that perspective, is putting a
guy back out there, even if a knee is cleared,
(32:17):
sometimes guys need a couple more weeks to gain the
strength back and the confidence and to be able to
go back out there and protect themselves from being injured
and protect themselves and play safely and understand this, None
of those things the Dolphins did. And so when you
think about to his situation, even if they passed all
of that protocols everything else, they still failed him. And
(32:39):
they did and they did a dangerous thing and This
is where they were negligent on because you put an
injured guy back in and you let him come back
in and play on Thursday night when clearly he was
not healthy enough to play. No matter what you do,
that's the truth. Yeah, I think when you get down
to it, Jason, as we as we've talked about, and
(33:00):
so many like, oh, you guys aren't doctors, guys on
radio or you know, it's like, no, I know what
I saw, and by the letter of the law, he
may have passed tests, but that that shouldn't be the standard, right, Well, hey, hey,
look he passed, so let's let it through. And I
know we do that in a lot of other cases
in this world where maybe someone shouldn't get documentation to,
(33:23):
you know, to drive a car. We we live in
southern California, so I thought i'd throw that out there.
You can barely pass the test and still get on
the road. In this case, you're dealing with someone's health
and it's a head trauma or back trauma as you
tried to sell it, and just the the overall callousness
or at least outwardly callously callousness. Before McDaniels talked today,
(33:44):
because he's a guy that seems broken at this point.
We'll have more on this and more big stuff out
of the NFL next Fox
