say this is absolutely hysterical. So the Mets in the

bit outside and the home plate umpire just wrings them

We went to the UK a year and a half ago.
We did ten days there. We went to England, we
went to Scotland. Right, it was a great time. Okay,
but well I got ten days of a lot of stress,

but like, how's the plane ride gonna be, renting a
car and the weather, all these different things that I
don't know. But I'm excited, but I don't know. Like
that's kind of how I feel like tonight. I'm like, Okay,

starting tomorrow, I got this big ten day excursion. Hopefully
it's ten day Well it is because the NBA Finals
plays every eight days. So I got this big ten days,
you know, span coming up here where I want to
enjoy it, but it's gonna be stressful and how is
it gonna go? And each day is gonna bring something new?
It's kind of where I am right now.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Yeah, you got near literally, I think two weeks of Yeah.
For the NBA, I think, oh, game one is June third,
would be Game seven is June nineteenth.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Long, it goes Wednesday, it goes Wednesday, Friday, Monday.

So we're gonna play in a week.

They're gonna play three games and then Wednesday Saturday.

Oh boy, yeah, if you well, I mean, if necessary,
game follow the fourth of July Saturday, and then we
go to Tuesday, June sixteenth.

I feel it when Beatocook would say one year we're
gonna be playing Game seven of the World Series on Thanksgiving,
I want to say, one year, we're gonna be playing
Game seven of the NBA Finals on the fourth of July,
and we're gonna have free agency on the same day
as Game seven.

I can get on board that. Let's go, let's have
some fun with that, no question about it.

So to the Vegas story in the NFL, and boy
do we have a couple of really big stories we're
going to get to over the course of the next hour.
Here Miles Garrett has a new home, big blockbuster trade,
not the June first trade. We thought we were going
to get, because we did get that. We got aj
Brown to the New England Patriots, but Miles Garrett, two
time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, goes to the

Rams in exchange for two time Pro bowler Jared Verse
and a couple of draft picks. A first round pick
in twenty twenty seven, second round pick in twenty twenty eight,
third round pick in twenty twenty nine. All right, now,
this is this for the Browns. For the Browns aspect
of this first number one, this is a great deal
for them because they're tanking, they're looking to the future.
(05:42):
They get a young, pretty good pass rusher in Jared Verb,
Like first two years the league, he's a little older.
He comes in a little bit older rookies twenty five,
but first two years as a pro bowler, you know,
four and a half. Sacks's first year seven and a
half this year, I know Miles Garrett had twenty. But
they get a young player, and you're talking about three
really good picks you can use to either up for
a quarterback, not get one, because by the time you're

ready to contend, Miles Garrett's gonna be thirty two to
thirty three, and who knows where you're at. So this
is a great trade for the Browns. Yeah, they know
exactly what they want to be, mainly because we want
to lose games. We want a tank, and how do
you tank in the NFL. We just put the worst
team possibly out there and that's what we're gonna do.
So yeah, they accomplished everything they wanted to do today.
This is a huge home run for the Browns in
(06:25):
what they want to accomplish both this year and in
the future.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
You got the draft picks.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
You got Jared Verse, who was really good with the Rams,
right defensive Rookie of the Year and accomplished No Miles Garrett,
I get that, not a one for one, but a
guy they I think it was who was a schuler that.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Was calling him.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
The their Draymond Green, a little bit of everything. Oh yeah, look,
hall of Famer and a good loud mouth. Maybe Jared
Verse now becomes a go to interview in Cleveland. But
they'd also done some really good work before when they
did the contract structuring, because it allowed them to spread
out his cap, cap, hit and everything over a couple

of years. May not seem like much, but when you're
at the bottom and trying to rebuild. Being able to say, hey,
come to Cleveland, we have lots of money. Yeah, certainly helps, right,
because you can't say, hey, we've got a winner here.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Well and also and also well, you know how Berman
would announce this trade.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Oh boy, I mean Berman would say.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
And clearly clearly, DJ the Browns hoping the second team
for Verse is the same as the first boy, DJ, I.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
Really thought it was going to be a missus Garrett.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
The facts of the trade.

Are this, Oh boy, Biles Garrett has a new life
on Los Angeles.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
And just like Tuty was on roller skates, hopefully Verse
we'll have offensive linemen on roller skates as well this
year at Cleveland.

That reminds me for something I need to And you
would take the good, you would take the bad, you
would take them both.

And there you have a tanking season for the Browns. TJ.

So so great job by by by the Browns, right,
because clearly their voyage to the bottom of the standings
is really going. Now this is like good, Hey, they've
they've jumped overboard, and I have a big anchor tied
to my ankle. You just get all the way down here,
arch Manning, Dante Moore, Lenora Selis. Yeah, you're getting one
of those guys, man, because now you're taking twenty some

Away or still thinking about Herman's hermits for the Rams.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Look, the Rams continue to show you they had a
different way of planning for the NFL, and it has worked.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Right.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
New ideas are really difficult to go, especially in sports
when stuff is normally done one way, and you see
teams succeed year after year. Doing is a certain way
the Rams and the FM picks philosophy. It has worked
every time the Rams have decided we're gonna trade some picks,
We're gonna go get a player.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
It's worked, right.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
They've been to Super Bowls, they've won the Super Bowl,
they have their super Bowl window has been opened every
year for basically the past seven years. Different quarterbacks, different players,
it doesn't matter. Whatever the Rams do has worked. How
did they give up a lot here for Miles Garrett. Yeah,
but you're talking about in a go for it now
mode where Matthew Stafford's coming off an MVP year, got
another couple of years. You're getting a guy who is
(09:33):
gonna probably hit the twenty mark for sacks again each
of the next couple of years. Maybe Miles Garrett's still
good with these thirty four, but let's just go for
the next two years when he's thirty one, thirty thirty one,
thirty two, let's go there. You are the overwhelming favorite
to get to the Super Bowl now the next two
years because you have taken a team that's pretty solid
everywhere and you have added the best defensive player in
(09:56):
the NFL. I mean, that is an insane achievement. And yes,
you gave up a lot, but it's not like you
give up a lot and you brought in a pretty
good defensive line. You added the best defensive player in
the NFL. It's okay to do that. You can say,
maybe you overpaid a little bit, yeah, cause you got
you gotta spend the money on Miles Garrett. Okay, but
it doesn't matter. You brought in a guy that is
an absolute game wrecker and game changer. And this is
(10:18):
what you especially when you're saying, hey, let's look at
the next two years. We've been successful. It's not that
you can say, well, eventually we ran you know, the
bottom of that sock drawer came up empty when it
came to draft picks, or we're paying guys now that
we don't have to pay and we have to have
a year we're throwing stuff away because we're in salary
cap heel. No, they've been able to do that year
after you're talking about seven eight years now of trading
(10:40):
first round picks and getting players in and opening that window.
They always make the right decision. They have done that
now for almost a decade. This is another one of
those moves. I can't believe more teams don't copycat what
the Rams do because eventually, now I know you want
to say, oh, at some point, yeah, yeah, you'd like
to think at some point they're gonna get stuff wrong,
but they don't.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
They had one year going right, Yeah, that twenty twenty
two season that went to hell and five and twelve,
and we talked about it, the potential of McVeigh walking
away and into the darkness and all of that, and
then eventually it comes back the other way. I mean,
you go back to that season where nothing could go right,
(11:22):
Stafford gets hurt. You did have the rediscovery of what
Baker Mayfield was et cetera. But you had what was it,
six different guys take snaps at quarterback. That includes the
trick play with Cooper Cup Wafford, Bryce Perkins, anybody, anybody,
Riley Dixon. So everything that could go wrong did But
we talked about the draft picks year after year as well. Right,
(11:45):
they take your quarterback, Ty Simpson, and it's a lot
of head shaking while this deal was in the background,
and you wondered if it was to get ahead of
next year knowing that you weren't going to have a
top pick, and so make sure you've got someone in
the succession line for Matthew Stafford. But all these other
(12:08):
years you're making eight to ten picks, you're getting them right.
And to your point, yeah, it's a copyat league, but
it's awful hard to rebuild an entire infrastructure when you've
also got a guy who will, like like the Dodgers
in the same city, say wait, this isn't working, go
the other way and we'll make the big, strong move.
(12:28):
While you've got a great coach as well, I mean,
because you already brought in McDuffie, right, that was the
one big thing you needed to adjust your secondary Okay,
cool did that addressed built around that and now you
take the big swing to go get the biggest, baddest
defensive player. Now I feel bad because they did a
great schedule release which was all about him trucking guys
(12:50):
in that video game.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Remember that laning we talked about.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Yeah, ranked, Now that's rendered mood like that is ar
title because he's not going to be there to do
that to a quarterbacks this year. But I do like
the fact that we've talked about it in the NFL,
particularly for years, that you have just a handful of
teams where they stress continuity, consistency. Miles Garrett comes from
(13:15):
the the absolute opposite of that, right where every year
it's the question of not only who's your quarterback, but
who's your head coach? What do the coordinators look like? No,
there's no consistency. You come to the Rams and they've
built what is now the hallmark of consistency Chargers working
that same Baltimore for years? Was that the Patriots for years?
(13:37):
Was that was that? Uh and the Chiefs and maybe
a little lesser degree of the Packers. What do we
they what is that seven seven thirty two that you say, okay,
be like them. But the Rams far and away get
those mid round picks right and everything else falls into field.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
It's great when you get a guy like Pokinakua, right,
I mean, I know you get that right.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
It's like, wow, okay's got.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
To work for a number of those guys that that
in they're all twenty two are either cast offs or
mid round guys that they got right. And to be
able to go out and say, hey, we're gonna go
get best to brand in a McDuffie who's been to
the mountaintop, a guy in Miles Garrett who is thirsting
perhaps to be that Also, the fact that Chloe Kim's
here does help.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
That is true. That is true.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Yea, we should always go up to Big Bear and
snowboard like it'd be really easy tell thee like an
hour and a half away.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
The fact that guy has called himself what Godzilla and
all that stuff, you know, the tattoos that he's gotten.
I mean, look, if more teams did things the way
the Rams did it, you because not everybody can, like
teams like I look at this, like teams like the
Jets that get the draft wrong basically every single year, right,
why wouldn't you say, well, you know what, maybe the
draft isn't our thing. Maybe if we did something like
(14:50):
this and.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
We brought in a player that we knew had a
track record play, maybe that would be better for us.
Because there's teams that donates the draft. Like everybody thinks,
all but the draft, the draft, the draft. You gotta
get the draft right. It's not like all of a
sudden the door opens for you and you get great
players that you gotta get the draft right. And for
teams don't get the draft right, it's like.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Why wouldn't you do this? Why?
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Why wouldn't you try to get this better at Why
wouldn't more teams like the Raiders do this?
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Why?
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Wow, why wouldn't you do this? Because when you when
you get the draft wrong, man, this sets you back.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
I don't get it.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
No, but it goes back to the old argument of
do you want the owner who's fully involved in your
day to day football operations or someone who's just got
to worry about fighting for tax breaks or getting money
back from a city.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
And that's what the Rams have.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
He's not worried about the on field product. You that
guy hire people to do that. You mentioned Mark Davis,
You mentioned. I mean, look at Jerry Jones, all these guys.
You can have some modicum of success, but are you
getting over the top if that guy's meddling all the time. No,
you need them concerned with other things. Hire football people
and get the hell out of the way.

Just you know, sad story today again. You know, we
talked about Raymond Berry. He passed away earlier today, the
age of ninety three. Rick Adelman also passing away today,
longtime NBA head coach, father of the Nuggets head coach,
David Adelman. And you know it's it's really you know,
Rick Adelman, I feel like the guy coached forever.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Seem like that.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
I feel like he coached the Blazers for twenty years
and then spent fifteen years with the Kings, right Like,
I feel like and he did something that you don't
see done in the NBA ever, and that's take a
small market team and turn them into a title contender
for a long period of time, Like he took over
(17:47):
the Blazers, and suddenly it's all these really good Blazers
teams that happened to run into the you know, the
the Bulls and the finals, right right, But they did
at the video game the Bulls versus No.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
That was good.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Yeah right, I mean, and they were great for the
better part of a decade. Right then they ran into
the Lakers the beginning of their run. Like you know,
you don't you know, small market teams back in the
nineties and early two thousands, you don't build years and
years of playing great.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
But yet he did it with the Blazers.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Then he did it with the Kings again when it
was it was Bibbie and Stoyokovic and all those guys,
And like, he took two teams that were small market
teams and I can make you title contenders never get
over the top with them because you run into better
teams and the and the uh you know, the Kings
were into the Lakers in the early two thousands two,
And I feel bad for you. Adaman was like, my
good everywhere I go, I'm so close. I'm so close.
But I mean, you look back at what he did,
(18:31):
like being able to do that for those couple of franchises, incredible.
Well what's crazy, though, is he gets a couple of years,
he gets to the NBA Finals with the Trailblazers. You
go and looked up and I started reading these stories
and looking just at the general time, like I would
have thought he was with the Blazers a lot longer
than he was. Yeah yeah, yeah, Like he started in
started eighty seven and left in two thousand and five.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
But just from the the head head coach side, right,
I mean he was as an assistant for a long while,
but he was actually on the head coach for like
six years.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
But it just seemed the same thing when he went
to the gigs, like it's just big long hey he
was there, Like no, no.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
He really wasn't it. But he felt like he went
because they went far in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
You saw him every year. It's not like, oh Rick Adelman,
is it. No, you saw Rick Adelman coaching thing every year?
Yeah yeah, I mean that long run incredible, incredible and
career is a player too, on the very first Portland
team in nineteen seventies, I mean Rayelman, I mean Hall
of Fame inductee again, Rest in peace, Rick Adaman seventy nine.
So to the NFL we go, and we talked about
(19:40):
the Miles Garrett trade a few minutes ago. Not the
trade we thought we were going to get on July first,
but we got that one too, man a June first, Sorry,
I need this month. You can't take this month from me.
It was very important to me. I thought it was
a night of Game four of the NBA Finals, so
I said, July first.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
Uh, he's going to be four inches taller by the
time you guys engage the series.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
We thought this was gonna happen because we've heard for
a while. Don't worry. June first, AJ Brown is getting traded.
Jane first, AJ Brown is getting traded. June first.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
He did we hear that AJ Brown got traded. He
goes to the Patriots for a couple of draft picks,
a first round draft pick in twenty twenty eight and
a fifth round pick next year in twenty twenty seven.
So for both sides, right, I while I love the
Miles Garrett trade for both sides right talked about. I
love it for the Browns because they got a look,
(20:30):
they got a really good young player. They got three
draft picks, including a first round pick.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
I love it for the Rams because they become Super
Bowl favorites for the next two years because you get
the best defensive player in the NFL. I like this
trade for both teams, But in the end, I don't
know that it moves the needle that much for either
of them. Now the pain the Eagles had to move
on from AJ Brown. It was too much soap opera.
What are you going to get from the guy? Is
(20:57):
he still going to be a leade? Is he still
best friends with jaln Why did nobody get invited to
his wedding? Hey, Bo Callahan, why did nobody get invited
to your birthday party? Why did nobody go? Jalen Hurts
is the godfather of one of his kids. He didn't
get invited. What's going There was too much drama revolving
around AJ Brown? And when the Eagles are dealing with
drama involving AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts, it's too much. Right,
(21:20):
So they had to move on and it's the right thing.
They went out and they got numbers at wide receiver.
They have a really good receiver and look, DeVante Smith
is terrific as a one A. He'll elevate to the one.
They draft Makai Lemon, They signed a couple of other guys.
They did the right thing. Now the pressure is going
to be on Jalen Hurst to show that yeah, I
can make everybody better. But overall, this Eagles team, they
lost a lot defensively. They have a lot of money
(21:43):
invested in the offense. That is not great. This is
It's not like you invest in money there and you
have playmakers everywhere. It's well, you're hoping Saquon Barkley bounces back.
You're hoping the wide receivers are good, that the depth
you've signed there is good. You're hoping tight end is
still really good. You're hoping your quarterback continues on an
upward trend and team mates like them. And there's no
question of boy, it's either got to be the quarterback
(22:03):
of the head coach. But overall, I don't think this
moves anything for the Eagles. Yes, they did what they
had to do, and that's a good thing, clearing the
decks to go. But I still look at them as
a team that can really take a step back next
year because they haven't gotten better on the field. But
all the other teams are getting better on the field.
The Giants getting better on the field, they got better
(22:24):
off the field with the new head coach, right the
Commanders are getting Jayden Daniels back, and this is a
team that was in the NFC Championship Game a couple
of years ago. The Cowboys have gotten better. Now, suddenly
they're gonna be a team. Their offense is better, they
figured things out. So the Eagles, yeah, they've had a
great run, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think, Okay,
this is going to get them back off of the
(22:44):
slide they were on last year, how difficult things were,
and get them back to being an elite super Bowl
winning team. This was the right thing they had to
do to get to move on from aj Brown. But
have they gotten better? Can they stay at the top.
I haven't seen that from the Eagles.

Yeah, it's the curiosity of how many can you go
back to the well with a new offensive coordinator and
keep the training rolling, and particularly if questions are gonna
be pervasive about Jalen Hurts. That's the thing that I
don't know that we've ever seen a guy that accomplished
that everything keeps going.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
I don't know that he's the guy.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
It's like, well, they keep winning, he keeps playing big
and big games. Yet every year it's questions, Right, they're
still the favorite in the division. When we look at
Super Bowl odds, they're fourth in the NFC, alongside the
forty nine ers and line a lot of AFC teams.
(23:37):
I'm sorry, fifth when you look at Seattle and the
ra Now the Rams obviously far and away the two
favorites in the NFC.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Your offensive line is a little bit older.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
You did draft replacements for those bookends, so hopefully they
get to learn in pretty fast, because that's the one
area concern Dallas. The offense is right, does the defense
rise up? Don't know, Washington, you had that great year
two years ago, last year and abject failure, injuries and
issues all around. Can they somehow get it back together?
(24:09):
And then the aforementioned Giants, so they got better. I
mean they hired a bunch a bunch of guys that
best years. Wait wait behind him in that receiving cour Well, no,
but coming in like you're talking like they went out. Yeah,
league neighbors is coming back. You signed a head coach
that knows what he's doing coming back and teach Dart
how to stay at the blue tent. In theory, scatter
(24:30):
Bow won't be in the blue tent himself.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
But the but all the but, all these other teams
they did stuff to get better, whereas the Eagles like, Okay,
how do we just keep where we're at? And I
don't know they did anything more than just stay at
their level, maybe come down a little bit, and you
don't get better in the NFL doing that. You know,
you don't get better by staying at the same. Hey,
we're gonna run it back for a team that didn't
win the Super Bowl, and not only that wasn't close
to winning the super Bowl. So I look at them
(24:55):
and I go, yeah, they did the right thing. Moving
on is awesome, and moving on from his money and
how they reinvest it's another thing, but that'll be for
next year. I just don't know. I feel like it
didn't move the needle. It's a move you had to make,
but you did it late and you got no real help.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
For this year. Hollywood man.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Yeah, I mean, look, they did look like I said,
they did what they had to do. But I but
did they do something for this year or this is
something that you're going to see You're going to reap
results for a year from now. This year is just
kind of meant.

I think a lot of it is still going to
the We're still going to be better than them. And
given Saquon Barkley Slash Bigsby behind him, that you think
you'll you'll get consistency in your run game. And that's
curiosity with Manion like it's the next line in the
line of coordinators. Yeah, right, can you can you figure
out where there's an efficiency to be gained in the
(25:46):
passing game short, intermediate and yak that hasn't been there
in the past. Right when you add as you said,
bringing in Lemon to be part of things, your defense
is still top ten defense in the NFL, right, even
if they're a little longer in the tooth. But I'll
be curious to watch the off season developed. But yeah,
(26:10):
you made the necessary move. The fact that he got
a first round pick, even if it isn't twenty twenty eight, Yeah,
it means that Howie rose Vincent.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Yeah no, look like I said, because they were first
year is great. For next year is great? But what
did you do for this year while you're trying to
because how many more years? Think you have Saquon Barkley
that's going to be good? How many more years?
Speaker 4 (26:28):
I think the other part of this is you're just
banking on the fact that you've watched for years the
ineptitude of the front offices of the other teams in
your division, and you're banking on that to continue.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Now for the Patriots, I like it a little bit
more because you are in a young win now mode
and AJ Brown is still young enough. He's a change
of scenery guy and even when things were difficult, he
was still a thousand yard receiving history with Yeah, certainly
all that is. Yep, they thought Stefan Diggs was the answer.
Now they're moving on. They bring in a first round
(26:58):
they bring in another guy to be their number one receiver.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
I felt like again I liked it a little bit
more for them for this year because you know, hey,
getting AJ Brown is a clear upgrade over Stefon Diggs
trying to get, you know, squeeze one more year out
of him. But again, I don't think this is a
Patriots moverhe I go, well, suddenly they have leapt up
like this is not the Rams adding Miles Garrett. So
you had the best, you know, defensive player in the NFL.
You added a wide receiver that if he was still
(27:24):
really good, let's face it, he would still be with
the Eagles, right if the Eagles done now. Granted could
be a change of scene where it could work out
really well. And I liked the move because you had
to You needed a number one receiver and they don't
grow on trees, so okay, you go.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Out and get them.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
But overall, do I think this keeps the Patriots at
the top level, it's going to stop them from taking
a step back this year? Yeah, I'm not quite there
with it, That's why. But this trade, I feel, is
kind of mad for both teams, whereas the Miles Garrett
trade was really good for both teams.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Yeah, the Patriots, I think we can all agree they
overachieved in twenty twenty five and that's great. The only
thing again helping them is the ineptitude of the division
around them to where you look at your Jets and
the Dolphins. If we're going to talk about the the
race to the bottom, then you know they're the clear
beneficiary of all that.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
In Buffalo, it's Josh Allen or Buss, right.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
I mean, they don't exactly endear themselves to anybody with
any huge roster moves year after year for the For
the Patriots, you know, the other thing you have to
solve is that will Campbell problem that got exposed quite
a bit, right, we're talking about the short arms. But
for for Drake May, I mean that that's a big
piece going forward against the elite pass rushers.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
And guess what, there are a lot of them. I guess.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
I guess you're excited that one of them left the AFC. Sure, yeah,
but Jared versus no slouching man. I get all of
that to say. And Ramandre Stevenson can't play in any
more celebrity softball games or anything else.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
He got run into the base. That's I good.
Speaker 4 (28:52):
You know, I'm not quite saying football like you're running
back all those years ago.

Oh sorry, you know what happens if they have run
against the pickle. No, I just don't get in to
check laid down. You got to pickle way down and

Finals on Wednesday, our full previews and stuff that scares
me doesn't scare me tomorrow who burst clowns. But already
there's some controversy over Game three because it's not about tickets.

Tickets are I'd bean tickets are through the route to
get in everybody in three.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Everybody's deciding I'd rather go to the garden spend that
extra money than fly to San Antonio, go to Game
one or Game two. But controversy as mayor Mom Donnie
has canceled bedtimes for the NBA Finals.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
I don't think that's legally burned.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
No bedtimes for kids because the Knicks are in the finals. Now,
I don't know if this stretches to off nights. I
mean I would push that if I was good, I
would say, oh, no, bedtimes are in the finals. The
mayor said it, yeah, but there's no games. That doesn't
matter from the third through the nineteen no bedtime. I
want to stay up late.

I want to.

I want to watch whatever shows on ABC at ten
o'clock at night. I can't even I don't think you can.
The less time i've watched broadcast tell I.

It's always sipleetts. I can't stan answer is simples and
bright lights. The bedtimes have been canceled.

Okay, So I saw this story earlier, and I and
I and there's a couple of things to it. Number one,
I mean household, the household. I mean, you're going to
defy the mayor's mayor's edict here, but from his side,
I mean we talk about the easy wins for politicians.

Yeah, I mean they did a thing. I don't know
where it costs to repay all. Like, these kids can vote.
It's not like no no, no voting, no no. But
that's the point. You get him in. You get him
in now, you get him in now.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
Remember my mom downy hooked us up when we were
twelve or nine or fourteen or whatever it was.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
He's seven years eight years until these kids with bedtime
are going to get to vote.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
But that's okay. You got young kids now that that
don't have the bedtimes that would the next election. I
know a lot of you do still have bedtimes. No
whether whether they're followed or not, I don't know, but
I'm saying they'd still exist in.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
This land it or not.

One of the best jokes I ever got, I ever
pulled with with kids that are that age, well, you
bedtimes being canceled is is when kids would say, oh,
your birthday, Like if I'm hanging out with our friends
and the kids are like eight or nine, ten years
old all the birthday party Saturday. Oh excited, say, oh,
well I saw the birthday. The birthdays were canceled for Saturday.
What yeah, President canceled the birthdays. And they're like what ago? Yeah,
(32:40):
why the economy? You know, I just hang that President
and the parents would laugh for a couple minutes. Then
when the kid looks at him and says, my birthday's canceled. No,
Jason's just joking. But that was always a good joke.
You say, president canceled the birthdays. What hey, don't get
mad at me. You have many birthdays I had canceled
when I was a kid because of the economy, or
or because of you know, whether or something.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Birthdays get can all the time.

But you got to stick with the weather because the
other one, I mean, the kid, if he's you know,
got it.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
But it's like, is that employing a lot of people.

If we're getting renting out the bounce house, someone's got
to come and blow it up and take it away.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
That's a job. That's where the job lost. Economy with
the economy is better.

If my birthday goes on, that means more people balloons,
cake bakers, sandwiches.

I mean whatever, maybe it'll change on Friday, I don't know,
but right now it's at all the birthdays this weekend
are canceled because Saturday Sunday.

Bertha is a popular guy. You are hanging out canceling ever,
try to take you out.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Kids love me. It was always a fun joke, you know.
We tried to run that.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Zoe would never des Zoe wouldn't fall for that. They
got to be the right kid to fall for it,
the right gay And by that I mean the kid
that loves to talk to you, would like mess around
with you. Go yeah, yeah, yeah, mister Jason, Yeah yeahah yeah,
they cancel the birthdays. Oh wait what yeah, no, no,
they didn't cancel birthdays, canceled birthdays, but with the bedtimes
being canceled. See that's something. Where as a kid, I'm like,
(34:03):
you know how many sporting events I didn't get to
see because of my bedtime?
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Monday night football?
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Anything after the first four because the game started at
nine o'clock at night, right, Like, see what happens in
the morning the game I went to bed. The game
was seven to three, it ended twenty eight, twenty seven.
I missed all this drama players. I didn't even hear
of that did all these things like how many like
how many national championship games in college basketball that I
missed because of my bedtime?
Speaker 3 (34:27):
When I was a kid, I was, I mean it
was I'm on, like, we.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
Didn't have these devices because that's no no, no, right,
I mean we didn't have phones and iPads or whatever else.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
So, I mean, the TV was in the family.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
Until I was seen to get a black and white
television in my bedroom. And then you know, suddenly I'm
gonna watch Moonlighting until eleven. Then I'm going to bed, okay,
and you watch the scrambled chain. Come on, lock, lock,
it's out of Philadelphia. I can watch the Saturday Morning
wrestling a night early. I could watch them early. Get
there's Gordon Sole. He's telling me all about No that
(35:03):
was I took it like fifteen. They got a black
and white television in my room. Oh all right, yeah,
that's the thing.

I'm Donnie getting him young. Hey, you will vote? Yeah, yeah,
too young, too young. It's not gonna help you.

No, he's gonna try to pass a voting age change
next week.

We went to the UK a year and a half ago.
We did ten days there. We went to England, we
went to Scotland. Right, it was a great time. Okay,
but well I got ten days of a lot of stress,

but like, how's the plane ride gonna be, renting a
car and the weather, all these different things that I
don't know. But I'm excited, but I don't know. Like
that's kind of how I feel like tonight. I'm like, Okay,

starting tomorrow, I got this big ten day excursion. Hopefully
it's ten day Well it is because the NBA Finals
plays every eight days. So I got this big ten days,
you know, span coming up here where I want to
enjoy it, but it's gonna be stressful and how is
it gonna go? And each day is gonna bring something new?
It's kind of where I am right now.

Yeah, you got near literally, I think two weeks of Yeah.
For the NBA, I think, oh, game one is June third,
would be Game seven is June nineteenth.

Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

Long, it goes Wednesday, it goes Wednesday, Friday, Monday.

So we're gonna play in a week.

They're gonna play three games and then Wednesday Saturday.

Oh boy, yeah, if you well, I mean, if necessary,
game follow the fourth of July Saturday, and then we
go to Tuesday, June sixteenth.

I feel it when Beatocook would say one year we're
gonna be playing Game seven of the World Series on Thanksgiving,
I want to say, one year, we're gonna be playing
Game seven of the NBA Finals on the fourth of July,
and we're gonna have free agency on the same day
as Game seven.

I can get on board that. Let's go, let's have
some fun with that, no question about it.

So to the Vegas story in the NFL, and boy
do we have a couple of really big stories we're
going to get to over the course of the next hour.
Here Miles Garrett has a new home, big blockbuster trade,
not the June first trade. We thought we were going
to get, because we did get that. We got aj
Brown to the New England Patriots, but Miles Garrett, two
time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, goes to the
(05:20):
Rams in exchange for two time Pro bowler Jared Verse
and a couple of draft picks. A first round pick
in twenty twenty seven, second round pick in twenty twenty eight,
third round pick in twenty twenty nine. All right, now,
this is this for the Browns. For the Browns aspect
of this first number one, this is a great deal
for them because they're tanking, they're looking to the future.
(05:42):
They get a young, pretty good pass rusher in Jared Verb,
Like first two years the league, he's a little older.
He comes in a little bit older rookies twenty five,
but first two years as a pro bowler, you know,
four and a half. Sacks's first year seven and a
half this year, I know Miles Garrett had twenty. But
they get a young player, and you're talking about three
really good picks you can use to either up for
a quarterback, not get one, because by the time you're
(06:03):
ready to contend, Miles Garrett's gonna be thirty two to
thirty three, and who knows where you're at. So this
is a great trade for the Browns. Yeah, they know
exactly what they want to be, mainly because we want
to lose games. We want a tank, and how do
you tank in the NFL. We just put the worst
team possibly out there and that's what we're gonna do.
So yeah, they accomplished everything they wanted to do today.
This is a huge home run for the Browns in
(06:25):
what they want to accomplish both this year and in
the future.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
You got the draft picks.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
You got Jared Verse, who was really good with the Rams,
right defensive Rookie of the Year and accomplished No Miles Garrett,
I get that, not a one for one, but a
guy they I think it was who was a schuler that.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Was calling him.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
The their Draymond Green, a little bit of everything. Oh yeah, look,
hall of Famer and a good loud mouth. Maybe Jared
Verse now becomes a go to interview in Cleveland. But
they'd also done some really good work before when they
did the contract structuring, because it allowed them to spread
out his cap, cap, hit and everything over a couple

of years. May not seem like much, but when you're
at the bottom and trying to rebuild. Being able to say, hey,
come to Cleveland, we have lots of money. Yeah, certainly helps, right,
because you can't say, hey, we've got a winner here.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Well and also and also well, you know how Berman
would announce this trade.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Oh boy, I mean Berman would say.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
And clearly clearly, DJ the Browns hoping the second team
for Verse is the same as the first boy, DJ, I.

Really thought it was going to be a missus Garrett.

The facts of the trade.

Are this, Oh boy, Biles Garrett has a new life
on Los Angeles.

And just like Tuty was on roller skates, hopefully Verse
we'll have offensive linemen on roller skates as well this
year at Cleveland.

Look, the Rams continue to show you they had a
different way of planning for the NFL, and it has worked.

New ideas are really difficult to go, especially in sports
when stuff is normally done one way, and you see
teams succeed year after year. Doing is a certain way
the Rams and the FM picks philosophy. It has worked
every time the Rams have decided we're gonna trade some picks,
We're gonna go get a player.

They've been to Super Bowls, they've won the Super Bowl,
they have their super Bowl window has been opened every
year for basically the past seven years. Different quarterbacks, different players,
it doesn't matter. Whatever the Rams do has worked. How
did they give up a lot here for Miles Garrett. Yeah,
but you're talking about in a go for it now
mode where Matthew Stafford's coming off an MVP year, got
another couple of years. You're getting a guy who is
(09:33):
gonna probably hit the twenty mark for sacks again each
of the next couple of years. Maybe Miles Garrett's still
good with these thirty four, but let's just go for
the next two years when he's thirty one, thirty thirty one,
thirty two, let's go there. You are the overwhelming favorite
to get to the Super Bowl now the next two
years because you have taken a team that's pretty solid
everywhere and you have added the best defensive player in
(09:56):
the NFL. I mean, that is an insane achievement. And yes,
you gave up a lot, but it's not like you
give up a lot and you brought in a pretty
good defensive line. You added the best defensive player in
the NFL. It's okay to do that. You can say,
maybe you overpaid a little bit, yeah, cause you got
you gotta spend the money on Miles Garrett. Okay, but
it doesn't matter. You brought in a guy that is
an absolute game wrecker and game changer. And this is
(10:18):
what you especially when you're saying, hey, let's look at
the next two years. We've been successful. It's not that
you can say, well, eventually we ran you know, the
bottom of that sock drawer came up empty when it
came to draft picks, or we're paying guys now that
we don't have to pay and we have to have
a year we're throwing stuff away because we're in salary
cap heel. No, they've been able to do that year
after you're talking about seven eight years now of trading
(10:40):
first round picks and getting players in and opening that window.
They always make the right decision. They have done that
now for almost a decade. This is another one of
those moves. I can't believe more teams don't copycat what
the Rams do because eventually, now I know you want
to say, oh, at some point, yeah, yeah, you'd like
to think at some point they're gonna get stuff wrong,
but they don't.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
They had one year going right, Yeah, that twenty twenty
two season that went to hell and five and twelve,
and we talked about it, the potential of McVeigh walking
away and into the darkness and all of that, and
then eventually it comes back the other way. I mean,
you go back to that season where nothing could go right,
(11:22):
Stafford gets hurt. You did have the rediscovery of what
Baker Mayfield was et cetera. But you had what was it,
six different guys take snaps at quarterback. That includes the
trick play with Cooper Cup Wafford, Bryce Perkins, anybody, anybody,
Riley Dixon. So everything that could go wrong did But
we talked about the draft picks year after year as well. Right,
(11:45):
they take your quarterback, Ty Simpson, and it's a lot
of head shaking while this deal was in the background,
and you wondered if it was to get ahead of
next year knowing that you weren't going to have a
top pick, and so make sure you've got someone in
the succession line for Matthew Stafford. But all these other
(12:08):
years you're making eight to ten picks, you're getting them right.
And to your point, yeah, it's a copyat league, but
it's awful hard to rebuild an entire infrastructure when you've
also got a guy who will, like like the Dodgers
in the same city, say wait, this isn't working, go
the other way and we'll make the big, strong move.
(12:28):
While you've got a great coach as well, I mean,
because you already brought in McDuffie, right, that was the
one big thing you needed to adjust your secondary Okay,
cool did that addressed built around that and now you
take the big swing to go get the biggest, baddest
defensive player. Now I feel bad because they did a
great schedule release which was all about him trucking guys
(12:50):
in that video game.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Remember that laning we talked about.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Yeah, ranked, Now that's rendered mood like that is ar
title because he's not going to be there to do
that to a quarterbacks this year. But I do like
the fact that we've talked about it in the NFL,
particularly for years, that you have just a handful of
teams where they stress continuity, consistency. Miles Garrett comes from
(13:15):
the the absolute opposite of that, right where every year
it's the question of not only who's your quarterback, but
who's your head coach? What do the coordinators look like? No,
there's no consistency. You come to the Rams and they've
built what is now the hallmark of consistency Chargers working
that same Baltimore for years? Was that the Patriots for years?
(13:37):
Was that was that? Uh and the Chiefs and maybe
a little lesser degree of the Packers. What do we
they what is that seven seven thirty two that you say, okay,
be like them. But the Rams far and away get
those mid round picks right and everything else falls into field.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
It's great when you get a guy like Pokinakua, right,
I mean, I know you get that right.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
It's like, wow, okay's got.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
To work for a number of those guys that that
in they're all twenty two are either cast offs or
mid round guys that they got right. And to be
able to go out and say, hey, we're gonna go
get best to brand in a McDuffie who's been to
the mountaintop, a guy in Miles Garrett who is thirsting
perhaps to be that Also, the fact that Chloe Kim's
here does help.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
That is true. That is true.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Yea, we should always go up to Big Bear and
snowboard like it'd be really easy tell thee like an
hour and a half away.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
The fact that guy has called himself what Godzilla and
all that stuff, you know, the tattoos that he's gotten.
I mean, look, if more teams did things the way
the Rams did it, you because not everybody can, like
teams like I look at this, like teams like the
Jets that get the draft wrong basically every single year, right,
why wouldn't you say, well, you know what, maybe the
draft isn't our thing. Maybe if we did something like
(14:50):
this and.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
We brought in a player that we knew had a
track record play, maybe that would be better for us.
Because there's teams that donates the draft. Like everybody thinks,
all but the draft, the draft, the draft. You gotta
get the draft right. It's not like all of a
sudden the door opens for you and you get great
players that you gotta get the draft right. And for
teams don't get the draft right, it's like.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Why wouldn't you do this? Why?
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Why wouldn't you try to get this better at Why
wouldn't more teams like the Raiders do this?
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Why?
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Wow, why wouldn't you do this? Because when you when
you get the draft wrong, man, this sets you back.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
I don't get it.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
No, but it goes back to the old argument of
do you want the owner who's fully involved in your
day to day football operations or someone who's just got
to worry about fighting for tax breaks or getting money
back from a city.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
And that's what the Rams have.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
He's not worried about the on field product. You that
guy hire people to do that. You mentioned Mark Davis,
You mentioned. I mean, look at Jerry Jones, all these guys.
You can have some modicum of success, but are you
getting over the top if that guy's meddling all the time. No,
you need them concerned with other things. Hire football people
and get the hell out of the way.

Just you know, sad story today again. You know, we
talked about Raymond Berry. He passed away earlier today, the
age of ninety three. Rick Adelman also passing away today,
longtime NBA head coach, father of the Nuggets head coach,
David Adelman. And you know it's it's really you know,
Rick Adelman, I feel like the guy coached forever.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Seem like that.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
I feel like he coached the Blazers for twenty years
and then spent fifteen years with the Kings, right Like,
I feel like and he did something that you don't
see done in the NBA ever, and that's take a
small market team and turn them into a title contender
for a long period of time, Like he took over
(17:47):
the Blazers, and suddenly it's all these really good Blazers
teams that happened to run into the you know, the
the Bulls and the finals, right right, But they did
at the video game the Bulls versus No.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
That was good.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Yeah right, I mean, and they were great for the
better part of a decade. Right then they ran into
the Lakers the beginning of their run. Like you know,
you don't you know, small market teams back in the
nineties and early two thousands, you don't build years and
years of playing great.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
But yet he did it with the Blazers.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Then he did it with the Kings again when it
was it was Bibbie and Stoyokovic and all those guys,
And like, he took two teams that were small market
teams and I can make you title contenders never get
over the top with them because you run into better
teams and the and the uh you know, the Kings
were into the Lakers in the early two thousands two,
And I feel bad for you. Adaman was like, my
good everywhere I go, I'm so close. I'm so close.
But I mean, you look back at what he did,
(18:31):
like being able to do that for those couple of franchises, incredible.
Well what's crazy, though, is he gets a couple of years,
he gets to the NBA Finals with the Trailblazers. You
go and looked up and I started reading these stories
and looking just at the general time, like I would
have thought he was with the Blazers a lot longer
than he was. Yeah yeah, yeah, Like he started in
started eighty seven and left in two thousand and five.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
But just from the the head head coach side, right,
I mean he was as an assistant for a long while,
but he was actually on the head coach for like
six years.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
But it just seemed the same thing when he went
to the gigs, like it's just big long hey he
was there, Like no, no.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
He really wasn't it. But he felt like he went
because they went far in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
You saw him every year. It's not like, oh Rick Adelman,
is it. No, you saw Rick Adelman coaching thing every year?
Yeah yeah, I mean that long run incredible, incredible and
career is a player too, on the very first Portland
team in nineteen seventies, I mean Rayelman, I mean Hall
of Fame inductee again, Rest in peace, Rick Adaman seventy nine.
So to the NFL we go, and we talked about
(19:40):
the Miles Garrett trade a few minutes ago. Not the
trade we thought we were going to get on July first,
but we got that one too, man a June first, Sorry,
I need this month. You can't take this month from me.
It was very important to me. I thought it was
a night of Game four of the NBA Finals, so
I said, July first.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
Uh, he's going to be four inches taller by the
time you guys engage the series.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
We thought this was gonna happen because we've heard for
a while. Don't worry. June first, AJ Brown is getting traded.
Jane first, AJ Brown is getting traded. June first.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
He did we hear that AJ Brown got traded. He
goes to the Patriots for a couple of draft picks,
a first round draft pick in twenty twenty eight and
a fifth round pick next year in twenty twenty seven.
So for both sides, right, I while I love the
Miles Garrett trade for both sides right talked about. I
love it for the Browns because they got a look,
(20:30):
they got a really good young player. They got three
draft picks, including a first round pick.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
I love it for the Rams because they become Super
Bowl favorites for the next two years because you get
the best defensive player in the NFL. I like this
trade for both teams, But in the end, I don't
know that it moves the needle that much for either
of them. Now the pain the Eagles had to move
on from AJ Brown. It was too much soap opera.
What are you going to get from the guy? Is
(20:57):
he still going to be a leade? Is he still
best friends with jaln Why did nobody get invited to
his wedding? Hey, Bo Callahan, why did nobody get invited
to your birthday party? Why did nobody go? Jalen Hurts
is the godfather of one of his kids. He didn't
get invited. What's going There was too much drama revolving
around AJ Brown? And when the Eagles are dealing with
drama involving AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts, it's too much. Right,
(21:20):
So they had to move on and it's the right thing.
They went out and they got numbers at wide receiver.
They have a really good receiver and look, DeVante Smith
is terrific as a one A. He'll elevate to the one.
They draft Makai Lemon, They signed a couple of other guys.
They did the right thing. Now the pressure is going
to be on Jalen Hurst to show that yeah, I
can make everybody better. But overall, this Eagles team, they
lost a lot defensively. They have a lot of money
(21:43):
invested in the offense. That is not great. This is
It's not like you invest in money there and you
have playmakers everywhere. It's well, you're hoping Saquon Barkley bounces back.
You're hoping the wide receivers are good, that the depth
you've signed there is good. You're hoping tight end is
still really good. You're hoping your quarterback continues on an
upward trend and team mates like them. And there's no
question of boy, it's either got to be the quarterback
(22:03):
of the head coach. But overall, I don't think this
moves anything for the Eagles. Yes, they did what they
had to do, and that's a good thing, clearing the
decks to go. But I still look at them as
a team that can really take a step back next
year because they haven't gotten better on the field. But
all the other teams are getting better on the field.
The Giants getting better on the field, they got better
(22:24):
off the field with the new head coach, right the
Commanders are getting Jayden Daniels back, and this is a
team that was in the NFC Championship Game a couple
of years ago. The Cowboys have gotten better. Now, suddenly
they're gonna be a team. Their offense is better, they
figured things out. So the Eagles, yeah, they've had a
great run, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think, Okay,
this is going to get them back off of the
(22:44):
slide they were on last year, how difficult things were,
and get them back to being an elite super Bowl
winning team. This was the right thing they had to
do to get to move on from aj Brown. But
have they gotten better? Can they stay at the top.
I haven't seen that from the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
Yeah, it's the curiosity of how many can you go
back to the well with a new offensive coordinator and
keep the training rolling, and particularly if questions are gonna
be pervasive about Jalen Hurts. That's the thing that I
don't know that we've ever seen a guy that accomplished
that everything keeps going.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
I don't know that he's the guy.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
It's like, well, they keep winning, he keeps playing big
and big games. Yet every year it's questions, Right, they're
still the favorite in the division. When we look at
Super Bowl odds, they're fourth in the NFC, alongside the
forty nine ers and line a lot of AFC teams.
(23:37):
I'm sorry, fifth when you look at Seattle and the
ra Now the Rams obviously far and away the two
favorites in the NFC.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Your offensive line is a little bit older.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
You did draft replacements for those bookends, so hopefully they
get to learn in pretty fast, because that's the one
area concern Dallas. The offense is right, does the defense
rise up? Don't know, Washington, you had that great year
two years ago, last year and abject failure, injuries and
issues all around. Can they somehow get it back together?
(24:09):
And then the aforementioned Giants, so they got better. I
mean they hired a bunch a bunch of guys that
best years. Wait wait behind him in that receiving cour Well, no,
but coming in like you're talking like they went out. Yeah,
league neighbors is coming back. You signed a head coach
that knows what he's doing coming back and teach Dart
how to stay at the blue tent. In theory, scatter
(24:30):
Bow won't be in the blue tent himself.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
But the but all the but, all these other teams
they did stuff to get better, whereas the Eagles like, Okay,
how do we just keep where we're at? And I
don't know they did anything more than just stay at
their level, maybe come down a little bit, and you
don't get better in the NFL doing that. You know,
you don't get better by staying at the same. Hey,
we're gonna run it back for a team that didn't
win the Super Bowl, and not only that wasn't close
to winning the super Bowl. So I look at them
(24:55):
and I go, yeah, they did the right thing. Moving
on is awesome, and moving on from his money and
how they reinvest it's another thing, but that'll be for
next year. I just don't know. I feel like it
didn't move the needle. It's a move you had to make,
but you did it late and you got no real help.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
For this year. Hollywood man.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Yeah, I mean, look, they did look like I said,
they did what they had to do. But I but
did they do something for this year or this is
something that you're going to see You're going to reap
results for a year from now. This year is just
kind of meant.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
I think a lot of it is still going to
the We're still going to be better than them. And
given Saquon Barkley Slash Bigsby behind him, that you think
you'll you'll get consistency in your run game. And that's
curiosity with Manion like it's the next line in the
line of coordinators. Yeah, right, can you can you figure
out where there's an efficiency to be gained in the
(25:46):
passing game short, intermediate and yak that hasn't been there
in the past. Right when you add as you said,
bringing in Lemon to be part of things, your defense
is still top ten defense in the NFL, right, even
if they're a little longer in the tooth. But I'll
be curious to watch the off season developed. But yeah,
(26:10):
you made the necessary move. The fact that he got
a first round pick, even if it isn't twenty twenty eight, Yeah,
it means that Howie rose Vincent.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Yeah no, look like I said, because they were first
year is great. For next year is great? But what
did you do for this year while you're trying to
because how many more years? Think you have Saquon Barkley
that's going to be good? How many more years?
Speaker 4 (26:28):
I think the other part of this is you're just
banking on the fact that you've watched for years the
ineptitude of the front offices of the other teams in
your division, and you're banking on that to continue.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Now for the Patriots, I like it a little bit
more because you are in a young win now mode
and AJ Brown is still young enough. He's a change
of scenery guy and even when things were difficult, he
was still a thousand yard receiving history with Yeah, certainly
all that is. Yep, they thought Stefan Diggs was the answer.
Now they're moving on. They bring in a first round
(26:58):
they bring in another guy to be their number one receiver.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
I felt like again I liked it a little bit
more for them for this year because you know, hey,
getting AJ Brown is a clear upgrade over Stefon Diggs
trying to get, you know, squeeze one more year out
of him. But again, I don't think this is a
Patriots moverhe I go, well, suddenly they have leapt up
like this is not the Rams adding Miles Garrett. So
you had the best, you know, defensive player in the NFL.
You added a wide receiver that if he was still
(27:24):
really good, let's face it, he would still be with
the Eagles, right if the Eagles done now. Granted could
be a change of scene where it could work out
really well. And I liked the move because you had
to You needed a number one receiver and they don't
grow on trees, so okay, you go.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Out and get them.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
But overall, do I think this keeps the Patriots at
the top level, it's going to stop them from taking
a step back this year? Yeah, I'm not quite there
with it, That's why. But this trade, I feel, is
kind of mad for both teams, whereas the Miles Garrett
trade was really good for both teams.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Yeah, the Patriots, I think we can all agree they
overachieved in twenty twenty five and that's great. The only
thing again helping them is the ineptitude of the division
around them to where you look at your Jets and
the Dolphins. If we're going to talk about the the
race to the bottom, then you know they're the clear
beneficiary of all that.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
In Buffalo, it's Josh Allen or Buss, right.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
I mean, they don't exactly endear themselves to anybody with
any huge roster moves year after year for the For
the Patriots, you know, the other thing you have to
solve is that will Campbell problem that got exposed quite
a bit, right, we're talking about the short arms. But
for for Drake May, I mean that that's a big
piece going forward against the elite pass rushers.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
And guess what, there are a lot of them. I guess.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
I guess you're excited that one of them left the AFC. Sure, yeah,
but Jared versus no slouching man. I get all of
that to say. And Ramandre Stevenson can't play in any
more celebrity softball games or anything else.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
He got run into the base. That's I good.
Speaker 4 (28:52):
You know, I'm not quite saying football like you're running
back all those years ago.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Oh sorry, you know what happens if they have run
against the pickle. No, I just don't get in to
check laid down. You got to pickle way down and
get tagged.

That happens. That happens.

Everybody's deciding I'd rather go to the garden spend that
extra money than fly to San Antonio, go to Game
one or Game two. But controversy as mayor Mom Donnie
has canceled bedtimes for the NBA Finals.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
I don't think that's legally burned.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
No bedtimes for kids because the Knicks are in the finals. Now,
I don't know if this stretches to off nights. I
mean I would push that if I was good, I
would say, oh, no, bedtimes are in the finals. The
mayor said it, yeah, but there's no games. That doesn't
matter from the third through the nineteen no bedtime. I
want to stay up late.

I want to watch whatever shows on ABC at ten
o'clock at night. I can't even I don't think you can.
The less time i've watched broadcast tell I.

It's always sipleetts. I can't stan answer is simples and
bright lights. The bedtimes have been canceled.

Okay, So I saw this story earlier, and I and
I and there's a couple of things to it. Number one,
I mean household, the household. I mean, you're going to
defy the mayor's mayor's edict here, but from his side,
I mean we talk about the easy wins for politicians.

Yeah, I mean they did a thing. I don't know
where it costs to repay all. Like, these kids can vote.
It's not like no no, no voting, no no. But
that's the point. You get him in. You get him
in now, you get him in now.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
Remember my mom downy hooked us up when we were
twelve or nine or fourteen or whatever it was.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
He's seven years eight years until these kids with bedtime
are going to get to vote.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
But that's okay. You got young kids now that that
don't have the bedtimes that would the next election. I
know a lot of you do still have bedtimes. No
whether whether they're followed or not, I don't know, but
I'm saying they'd still exist in.

One of the best jokes I ever got, I ever
pulled with with kids that are that age, well, you
bedtimes being canceled is is when kids would say, oh,
your birthday, Like if I'm hanging out with our friends
and the kids are like eight or nine, ten years
old all the birthday party Saturday. Oh excited, say, oh,
well I saw the birthday. The birthdays were canceled for Saturday.
What yeah, President canceled the birthdays. And they're like what ago? Yeah,
(32:40):
why the economy? You know, I just hang that President
and the parents would laugh for a couple minutes. Then
when the kid looks at him and says, my birthday's canceled. No,

You say, president canceled the birthdays. What hey, don't get
mad at me. You have many birthdays I had canceled
when I was a kid because of the economy, or
or because of you know, whether or something.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Birthdays get can all the time.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
But you got to stick with the weather because the
other one, I mean, the kid, if he's you know,
got it.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
But it's like, is that employing a lot of people.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
If we're getting renting out the bounce house, someone's got
to come and blow it up and take it away.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
That's a job. That's where the job lost. Economy with
the economy is better.
Speaker 4 (33:18):
If my birthday goes on, that means more people balloons,
cake bakers, sandwiches.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
I mean whatever, maybe it'll change on Friday, I don't know,
but right now it's at all the birthdays this weekend
are canceled because Saturday Sunday.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
Bertha is a popular guy. You are hanging out canceling ever,
try to take you out.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Kids love me. It was always a fun joke, you know.
We tried to run that.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Zoe would never des Zoe wouldn't fall for that. They
got to be the right kid to fall for it,
the right gay And by that I mean the kid
that loves to talk to you, would like mess around
with you. Go yeah, yeah, yeah, mister Jason, Yeah yeahah yeah,
they cancel the birthdays. Oh wait what yeah, no, no,
they didn't cancel birthdays, canceled birthdays, but with the bedtimes
being canceled. See that's something. Where as a kid, I'm like,
(34:03):
you know how many sporting events I didn't get to
see because of my bedtime?
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Monday night football?
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Anything after the first four because the game started at
nine o'clock at night, right, Like, see what happens in
the morning the game I went to bed. The game
was seven to three, it ended twenty eight, twenty seven.
I missed all this drama players. I didn't even hear
of that did all these things like how many like
how many national championship games in college basketball that I
missed because of my bedtime?
Speaker 3 (34:27):
When I was a kid, I was, I mean it
was I'm on, like, we.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
Didn't have these devices because that's no no, no, right,
I mean we didn't have phones and iPads or whatever else.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
So, I mean, the TV was in the family.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
Until I was seen to get a black and white
television in my bedroom. And then you know, suddenly I'm
gonna watch Moonlighting until eleven. Then I'm going to bed, okay,
and you watch the scrambled chain. Come on, lock, lock,
it's out of Philadelphia. I can watch the Saturday Morning
wrestling a night early. I could watch them early. Get
there's Gordon Sole. He's telling me all about No that
(35:03):
was I took it like fifteen. They got a black
and white television in my room. Oh all right, yeah,
that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
I'm Donnie getting him young. Hey, you will vote? Yeah, yeah,
too young, too young. It's not gonna help you.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
No, he's gonna try to pass a voting age change
next week.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
You watch what I did for him.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Now, voters next year, twelve and over you can vote
well really, yes, twelve and over you can.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Vote now, wow, wow, that's amazing. All these kids.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
You got to get me to the voting pool so
I can vote for this guy because I want more
time off. I want no bedtimes. Here's what I want.
I want no homework and I want later bedtimes.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Can you do that for me?
Speaker 1 (35:36):
You got my vote and somebody else come then, says
I'll guarantee no tests, no tests in school.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
All that all the kids have vote for you, be honest.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
There's a lot of a lot of schools that are
have already gone down the perilous path.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
