You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in side final hour tonight the Jason Smith
Show with my bes friend Mike Harmon. Let me tell
you something that was very much a Jim Carrey in
Living Color. Let me tell you something. Say here, Jess
hang it out in your house one day and all
of a sudden, spontaneously hours up Hire, that was Jim Carrey,

(00:51):
James Carrey, actually James carry James Carey. Uh So we
got big NFL stuff coming up in the next few
minutes here, obviously, so much conversation with Mike Tomlin. However,
teams look like they may be getting closer to hiring
new head coaches. Maybe there's a twenty million dollar a
year off or out there for John Harbaugh. But we

(01:13):
have to start this hour with the latest on Giannis
and what happened tonight in the Bucks blowout loss to
the Minnesota Timberwolves, a game, oh, by the way, in
which Anthony Edwards didn't even play. No, it's not like, hey,
well you know, ant Man went for forty three and
we got blown out.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
No, Antony Edwards beaten by the bestnet and you lost it.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, Garnett was out everywhere. Garnett, Marbury, Kugliana was out. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Googs was out, man, and you and the Bucks still
lost to Minnesota one thirty nine to one oh six,
a blowout loss. Look, Milwaukee has had a terrible season
so far. Nothing has gotten better for them since the

(01:56):
slow start and all the questions surround Yannis because Milwaukee
right now is not even in the plane right they
are in. They're in eleventh place, two games behind the
bull Boy, I remember when the Bulls were great start season.
What did I tell you? Those were the days?

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Man?

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I told you it was frauduling. Only one Chicago team
can really succeed at a time. So the Bears are
getting all the energy right now, and the Bulls don't
have any once the Pope's got nothing left once the
Bear season ends, you know, it's a Oh, but you know,
I thought about you today because I saw a guy
in the store and he was wearing it was a
it was a T shirt that was the the old

(02:36):
white Sox logo where it's the guy holding up the
bag and it just said Pope under it. So and
it's a it's a silhouette of the Pope, you know,
because Pope Leobian from Chicago. And he's holding it up.
And I walked past him in the aisle and I said,
you think he would have helped you more this season?

Speaker 3 (02:50):
And he goes, right, well, I mean we we did
get the the big signing from Japan. We've got the
number one pick in the League Baseball Draft.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Yes, I mean yes, my son, Yes, yes, my son.
The long road begins with the first step. Yes, my son.
Spread it around. Eventually the Bulls will get some not yet.
So the Bucks lose tonight, and of course the talk
has been the last few days about Jannis and potentially
getting traded. Look the off season, it started with Yannis
and reports that his agent was talking to the to

(03:23):
the Bucks about a potential trade. Talks with the Knicks
didn't go anywhere. We get into the beginning of the season.
The Bucks start out playing poorly. They know they're not
going to compete because Damian Lillard's out for the year.
Now he's gone back to Portland to finish his career.
Milwaukee is no closer to a title. And we heard
that Jannis through his agent talking to the Bucks about

(03:44):
is this a place where I can stay and play
or is this a place I need to leave from? Okay,
so we're still throwing it out there. Maybe Jannis is
getting traded, maybe he's not. And then about four days
ago he said, listen, I love it here. I don't
want to go anywhere. I'm Milwaukee all the way to
the end. Hi am Milwaukee, I am I am Milwaukee.
Uh Jannis. Uh put your tombs down twice. You're Milwaukee.

(04:08):
So uh so Jannis. Okay, I was ready to sit
back after the last few days. Say way, Yanni's very
very full throatedly says I want to stay well after
what happened tonight near the end of their loss, it's
just a matter of time before he gets traded. Now
he's gone. Here's the play by play, and this is
Bucks TV. The fans are so incensed with the Bucks

(04:30):
getting drubbed by the t Wolves B team that the
fans were booing the Bucks. Jannis decides after an end
one he's gonna take matters into his own hands.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
The five.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Displease Bucks TV on the call, Yannis goes in, gets
the end one, falls to the ground, gets up, and
you can hear him yell boo at the fans. But
because you know, I don't want to leave that to
be open to interpretation, he he doubles down on it

(05:23):
by giving the double thumbs down to the fans. I
think he was saying boo Earns. I think he was
saying Lou for Lou Panella, former Cubs manager. Listen to
it again. You can, actually after the first whistle you
can hear Yannis yelling boo at the crowd. Play one
more time, Mary. Right there, Oo, Yannis is booing his

(05:50):
own fans. In other words, he's gone my best. Dan
Patrick gon gone.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Six the final Giannis thirty one minutes, played twenty five points,
nine of twelve from the field, seven to fourteen from
the fall one.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
So here he was following the game talking about his
booing of the fans in the fourth quarter, when you
or your teammates or your team has gotten a boot
on the road, You've hit the fans with a thumbs
down in those cities. Tonight you got booed at home.
You did the same thing, just kind of. I can't
even think of the times you've gotten booed at home.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
With never part do I have? I? Oh, thanks one.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
I don't think so, not just for me?

Speaker 2 (06:38):
And just what was what that? That kind of hat's changed.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
The same thing?

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Does It?

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Doesn't mont that I I thrive through adversity. I thought
ive when people won't believe in me, doesn't mater if
I'm on the road, if I'm a home, if I'm
on my family, didn't if I'm at you know the
practice I think is my teammates it does it?

Speaker 5 (07:01):
So?

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Yeah, I've never been a part of something like that before,
so it's something new for me. I like it though,
I love it.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Yeah, No, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
I don't know that loves it. I don't want more
of it. I don't think anybody likes getting booted at home.
I think if you were okay with it, you wouldn't
boo your own boot at the home. Have you ever
ever been Pam or Zoe boo Joe.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
I'm sure as I can say I I without question
a number of times.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
I'm sure I have I'm sure, Like because I would
bring back food and I would make a mistake on
someone's order, I would get booed, or I would forget
to do something and I would get booed, or I
would you no, I'm sure, I'm sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I mean you know they're not They're not sitting on
the kitchen floor or the living room floor and just
give me the double bumps down. Well, sometimes you gotta

(07:44):
get the extra gravitas, the extra drama for it. Did
you get the bread in the olive oil? I forgot?

Speaker 6 (07:50):
Boo boo?

Speaker 1 (07:52):
You steak Jason, you steak Dad? I got the pizza
I wanted. But I mean, just think about just no
matter how you want to cut it up. He bowed
his own fans because he was sick of them booing him.
It's again, it's one thing to boo other fans on
the road. When you're getting booed, you boo him back.
It's kind of fun. How do you stay after this? Like,

(08:13):
how do you stay? I mean, this is again, this
is a no going back moment where Okay, we can't
unring this bell where I have booed my own fans
and I would got I have to think sometime in
the next three to five days, we're gonna hear him
say I want out. It's not working. Look, I love
it here, it's my home, and oh it's always gonna
be special. But I think we all need to change.

(08:37):
I need to change. I want to win. It's not
we won here. It's great, but I want to He's
got to stand up, though, because if he wants that trade,
he's got to stand up and be a man. You
want to trade, you gotta own it. I mean, this
is a big step towards it. This is, like I said,
it's a big cross the Rubicon moment where you don't
come back from this. But still he's got to follow
this up with I want out and I can't see

(08:57):
there any How do you stay after brewing your own fans.
Weald about players a few minutes ago that have booed
their own fans in the past five seven years. They've
all gotten traded. All of them have been found their
way out of that team. Because when you boo the fans,
it's not it's one thing to insult your general manager,
to not get along with your head coach, whatever it is.
But when you take on the fans, you are never

(09:18):
going to win that battle. Never.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Well, Jacoby Myers just had a sign that said trade
me on his back in Vegas. Uh, here's a little
bit more quote. I was definitely booing back when I
get booed, I boom back. I've been doing that all year.
You guys haven't been with me on the road. Wherever
I get booed, I get booed back. Right, follow up,
This is set up. This is why your own fans going.
But yeah, I've never been part of something like that.

(09:40):
I don't think it's fair. I don't. But everyone has
their opinion to do what they want to do. I'm
not gonna tell them what to do how they should
act when we don't play hard, or when we lose games,
or when we're not where we're supposed to be. But
I don't think anybody has the right to tell me
what or how I should act on the basketball court.
After I've been here thirteen years and I'm basically the
all time leader, and everyth.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Thing going going gone Gannie is gone, gone gone.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Yeah, it's it's how Dan used to say, gone, gone, gone. Well,
this is certainly the drop the mic, tapping a couple
of times and be like, all right, I said what
I said. Uh, it's the pointing back at ownership at
management at Doc Rivers, the fact that he calls out
the fact, yeah, when we don't play hard. So it's

(10:29):
also an indictment on the teammates and the roster as constructed.
I think in this booing he got everybody involved. The
fans take the initial.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Booh, yeah, yeah you want to boot me?

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Boo you right back right, which is you know, like
a five year old, But when you get down to it,
like in his statements, he pretty much just dragged everybody.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
You know at this point. Now, after tonight, there's gonna
be a lot of phone calls to Milwaukee tomorrow, and
there should be. And if I'm the Lakers, first I
make a phone call. Go Lebron, how would you feel
about Milwaukee and playing for Doc Rivers the rest of
this year?

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Weeah, you've only got two games on this one. We
could have a whole new set made up really fast.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
We can make the money work. The money works with
Giannis and Lebron because remember Lebron. You wouldn't take less
than fifty million dollars. We can make it work. You
could be the number one guy in Milwaukee. Man, they'll
love you there. They'll love you. And you're really close
to Cleveland, Like you don't even need to take a plane.
You could like take a you know, like a like
a bullet train or something and get there. You get
just so close.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Now, since you brought up the pope and and all
divine interventional, you think Matt Lafleur is saying a prayer
to whatever he believes it make this happen place.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
So everybody leaves me. Listen. I thought that we were
gonna talk about this forever. But man, Giannis might get traded. Okay,
yeah it is, Yeah it is, Bakers, I mean, really
make a call, right, I mean, this is gonna this
is gonna jump start conversations. It will jumpstart other teams
who maybe have started this season and maybe feel like
we're a Yannis away right from this. Maybe the Lakers, maybe,

(12:06):
maybe maybe the Knicks decide, Hey, Carl Anthony Towns, we've
tried it with you, but hey, that'll make the money
work too. That'll make the money work too.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
Man, you've already gone to the We've tried it with you.
The guy barely moved in. We've tried it is even
a year in new owner his new home.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Hey, Yanna says, when Jannis is upset with the fans
and deeds, I'll have a home for you. But I
mean that's true here. You gotta hold that.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Otherwise there's huge tax liability, tax tax max.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
I what do I care about that? What do I care?
Come on man, tax liabilities. I'll just sell one of
my harmonicas sure, I'll sell MSG to honest to h
to make it. Oh no, no, no, no, I'm talking about
Carl Anthony town Tis don. He's only been there a
hot man. He's a fun because if I'm Milwaukee, I
play hardball and I go, okay, we'll trade you, Yannis.

(12:55):
We'll take Carl Anthony Towns. But you gotta take Doc
Rivers too. Over the line. Do we have to make
them our head coach?

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Yes, I want some of the hers said memorabilia, and
I will need front road tickets to at least three
of the fifteen proposed dates from Harry Styles at the Garden.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
And I want to guarantee you're gonna re sign Daniel
Jones and give him money because boy, you were really
good until he got hurt. There you have it. Yeah,
uh yo, honest, let's just count the days now until
he is no longer. Remember the walking back James Doland
telling you when you're booing the fans that whenever a
star tape, there's been no star that has ever taken

(13:34):
on the fans of his own team. And one it's
never happened. It's never happened fan. That's the left, that's
the that's the one line you don't cross. But I'll
boo the fans. And I like how he says, Yeah,
I've been booed before, I'll boo the fans back, Dudde.
Those are those are fans that don't like you, that
are fans about the teams. This is this is not no,
it's a good follow. This is this is This is
you getting booed by your own guys. This is by

(13:55):
your own fans.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Is at home.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
This is at home. This is you getting booed by
that ten year old kid that spent all his allowance
money to go to a game. Is like Philadelphia Eagles, kin,
I got these tickets for Christmas and all that was
a loss. As you know, he spent all his money
on your jersey, and now you're getting drubbed by thirty
and he's really mad. See this is one where if
you're the thinking fan, you embrace Giannis right here cuz

(14:20):
he's calling out the the low Common Denominator fan that. Yeah,
they're booing him. Yeah, this is Giannis's fault. Look at
that roster, Gianness. You won't get booted MSG, come on
just everything.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Yeah, no, you won't get booed for the first half
that you're Ben Siller, Tracy Morgan.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
They will be your bodyguards. Shallow May will walk Shalla
May in front the locker room. You will love it here,
exit out about a Fresca, Exit swollen doub. Jason Smith,

Uh So, Mike Tomlin's had a lot of the headlines
today and we'll have more on him coming up in
a few minutes. No longer head coach of the Pittsburgh

(15:58):
Steelers resigning.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
But did you see Bashati said that he can't come
to Baltimore because he did that whole King Kong.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
But no, that was a deal.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Bashati also said if the Steelers hire Harbaugh, he would
hire Well, we told you, wife, swap right, I mean,
we proposed it yesterday there's one head coach right now
in the AFC North. There's Taylor of the North. I
am the head coach of everybody. Hogan Beard, he's taking over. Yeah,
I'm the head coach of everyone. I'm the president of everybody.

(16:30):
So elsewhere. Now, if Tomlin and we found out that
he's likely not going to be involved in the head
coaching cycle this year, I'm sure he's gonna wind up
being on TV. He'll be sitting next to Jay Glazer,
and then probably next year he'll get back in. He'll
pick the job he wants. He'll be sought after. He
needs to change his philosophy and the team that talks

(16:51):
to him at to say, Okay, you're gonna have a
modern offense. Right, We're gonna not have a get by quarterback.
You're not gonna bring back Aaron Rodgers who retired two
years ago. Philip Rivers is not gonna be our quarterback
week one. Okay, it's not gonna happen. So while he's
sitting out this year, this puts more of an emphasis
on John Harbaugh, Kevin Stefanski, and specifically the Giants opening

(17:11):
which Harbaugh has had conversations with. He's also met with
the Falcons and the latest report, Mike Florio Pro Football
Talk said he has heard story. He has heard reports
that a team, potentially the Giants, has already offered John
Harbaughs somewhere in the neighborhood of the twenty million dollars

(17:32):
a year that he wants to be the head coach. Now,
the money that I know that shocks people, doesn't It
doesn't shock me. It's not it's not like the money
has to come out of the salary cap. It's not
like it's money that's gonna, you know, break an owner. Yeah,
twenty million dollars for a really good head coach in
the NFL. That's gonna happen. Eventually. The NFL is gonna

(17:53):
gonna realize the college model is what works. And yeah,
to get a great head coach, it's worth It's not
I mean, it's it's it's not anything for the owner
to pay that kind of money. It's not like you
have to worry about the business end of it. You
want a great head coach off from that kind of
money that the college figured it out. This is how
we get great head coaches and guys move around make
more money. The NFL is going to failure out too,

(18:13):
and we're gonna be at the point where in a
year or two we're gonna say, boy, remember when those
great head coaches make like seven eight million dollars a year? Well,
all those are the days up.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
But what's funny is I hadn't thought about coaching contracts
in a long time from the pro side. We always
talking about it from college because we're always talking about
buyouts and all in transfers of all right, you pick
up this on the contract whatever else with pros other
than John Gruden contract.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Really hadn't thought about it.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Yeah, So when Harball and the the Ravens parted ways
a week ago, all of a sudden it started being
reported he was already making fifteen to seventeen.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Yeah. I would have had no idea. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
So the fact that it's twenty million, I'm like, all right,
so fine, cost of inflation.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Control over the rosters. That's something we'll talk about with Harball.
But I know that it looks like it's it's the
Giants for Harbor.

Speaker 5 (19:03):
Right.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
We saw the video of Jackson Dart last weekend when
he was asked about, Hey, what do you think and
he shrugged his shoulder and said Harbor Stefanski. He said,
you know, it's one of those two guys. But I
gotta be honest with you. Even though Harrbaugh seems like
a great hire, and he is a great Hire, Harbaugh
is a better fit with the Falcons and Stefanski's a
better fit with the Giants. Right for the Falcons, they

(19:25):
need they need to be able to harness all that
young talent. They need someone who comes in with a
cachet of winning and a winning culture that is able
to troubleshoot all the issues that they have, which a
is the quarterback situation with Michael Pennix Junior and Kirk Cousins.
And I don't mean you have to come in with
some kind of system that takes advantage. You have to
figure out Michael Pennix Junior is your guy. We have

(19:47):
to move on from Kirk Cousins. We have to figure
out a way to make this a better quarterback situation.
We have to get all our young talent on the
same page because you have a lot of great young talent.
You have the best running back in the NFL and
John Robinson. You have a tight end you have to
make a decision on and Kyle Pitch who's been underachieving
and underwhelming but keep showing signs that maybe he's gonna
break out. You have a couple of pretty good wide

(20:07):
receivers and Drake London Darnel Mooney when when he has
every third or fourth week, he'll have a big week.
But you have a lot of young talent and you
have an easy division. And Harbaugh's never coaching the big
spotlight like you would have in New York, where ooh,
he's gonna learn. It's a little bit different when you're
than when you're coaching in Baltimore with Lamar Jackson, when
you're playing Pittsburgh and Cincinnati and Cleveland a couple of

(20:28):
times a year. So where he fits best is Atlanta
because they need that adult in the room of this
is a guy we're gonna follow. He's won a Super Bowl.
He is he is, He's figured out how to manage
a star quarterback in Lamar Jackson and how to win
on a pretty regular basis. This is what the Falcons need.
And again, like I say, it's a craptastic division. You

(20:51):
can own the division for a few years. That's the
better fit and for the for the Giants, it's Stefanski
because he's lived in the fish bowl of dysfunction that
is Cleveland, which prepares him well for what he's going
to deal with in New York. Right, you saw the
adversity he had to deal with with all the different
quarterbacks and trying to coach a team where the GM

(21:13):
has one idea, the owner has another idea. Quarterbacks are
getting drafted that he likes, Quarterbacks getting drafted that he
doesn't like. He's got to go through four or five
quarterbacks of a year, still finds a way to bring
the Browns of the playoffs a couple of times, two
time Coach of the Year. The number one thing he
is is a quarterback whisperer. He gets the best out
of his quarterbacks, no matter who they are. Got the

(21:33):
best out of Dylan Gabriel, got the best out of
Shador Sanders, the best out of Joe Flacco, didn't get
anything out of Deshaun Watson. But then again, when you
show up because you're just taking the money, that's not
gonna happen. But still he's found a way to make
sure the team doesn't quit, to get the most out
of talent that he has. He is ready for what
the pressure cooker of New York is going to be,
and from the fact that the number one thing you

(21:55):
need to do in New York is make sure Jackson
Dart is the star that he looks like he is,
and he's gonna come in as that quarterback guru. Because
if Jackson Dart works, that means Malik Neighbors works, It
means one Dale Robinson works, THEO Johnson works, the running
game works. You get Jackson Dart to fulfill his potential,
you are gonna win tons of games. Man, That's all

(22:17):
you need to do. And as good as coach as
Harbaugh is, his strength lies more and what he can
do for Atlanta. Stefanski is more for what he can
do in New York because it's all about his relationship
with Jackson Dart. And I feel much better about that
than I feel about John Harbaugh, whose relationship with Lamar
Jackson may or may not been great. And with Lamar
Jackson achieving what he is, was he listening to Harball

(22:39):
at the end? Where were they listening to each other?
He can go into a situation now where Michael Pennock
Junior has to listen to him where the team has
to listen to him. They don't have to listen to him.
They didn't have to listen to him in Baltimore. So yeah,
the better fit for Harball is Atlanta. He's already talked
to them. Stefanski with the Giants.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
Yeah, jed your questions about Monkin and certainly more things
being dredged up about Roman in his time in Baltimore,
let alone his oustering or his ouster h with the
Chargers here, right, and what that offense was and wasn't
uh in this realm, but certainly the or this season,

(23:16):
I should say. But you look at the the Ravens
for for several years, and this is where we're parsing
things out, both for Harbaugh on his exit. What's truth
and what's imagined and rumor and where the sources are?
And Cleveland you had a lot to unpack, right, There
have a lot of stories.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
Like, all right, what's actually the truth here?

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Right?

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Unpacking in Cleveland you are always unpacking.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
Well, no, no, you're never packed because you're gonna get
fired really fast, so you never actually unpacked that bag.
But in this case, right, all of the stuff with
Shdor Sanders, the handling of the roster and how that
was all pushed through the second half of the season, right,
there were a lot of hit pieces on Stefanski that
started coming out, and it's like, all right, what was

(24:01):
really going on in terms of getting Sanders ready, And
certainly as a backup or certainly when he was third string,
you understand that you're not getting the reps, but then
thereafter there were still some questions there, so you got
to go through that. But you've got an une questioned
leader in Dart there when he's available to you, because
that's scheme number one, how do you scheme it up

(24:22):
to protect him as much from himself as you can, cause, look,
the guy's still going to try to make the extra
play and put himself in harm's way. But on both
sides of the ball, you've got talent. Right, The defense
was pretty solid, especially up front. You still need some
work in the secondary, but your offense has returning stars
and star power. So for Stefanski again, with that spotlight

(24:45):
that he's had in Cleveland because the poison pens have
been out for him going on several years here, that
you come into a situation that, yes, it'll get magnified
because you're playing Phil, You're playing Dallas and you're playing
whatever the next iteration the commanders are that. You know
you're gonna get a lot of the national spotlight, and
by virtue of being a New York, New Jersey team,

(25:07):
a lot of those prime time and late afternoon windows
where every move gets scrutinized.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Look, and I'll tell you this, where's the better. If
if Harball wants the money, the money will come from
any The money will come from everywhere. But if Harbar
really wants control, where is he more likely to get it?
Whether Atlanta or the Giants. Really, you're gonna get control
of the roster with the Giants, Yeah, not gonna happen.
Joe Shane is holding onto that job until they try it.
For what am I doing? Really? What am I doing?

(25:34):
We know what you're doing. Wait, what am I doing?
Putting Kevin Stefanski who stinks on the Giants? He doesn't stink.
I think you do well with the Giants. You think
the Giants to stink? Dude? The Jets, the Jets are
gonna stink no matter what happens. I don't I don't
need to worry about that. The Jets are gonna be
terrible whatever the Jets do is wrong. It does, so
it does. They can take Dante more at number two.

(25:55):
It would be wrong. They can trade out of number
two and someone else will take him. It would be
the right will be the right movie. Yeah, what's curious
what it is? Right?

Speaker 3 (26:02):
We look at all the coaching odds, and we're looking
at Stefanski, and and and and Harbaugh here, uh out
of the jump. But like Chris Shula, Brian Flores, those
are a couple of the other names that are cycling about.
Flores is interesting still in the lawsuit because I've seen
him tied to the Giants a bunch of now certainly

(26:22):
to the Steelers, Jesse Minter being one of those other guys.
Uh that gets his name in. But when when you
look at the Giants Joe Shane thing just fascinates me.
But I always think he did the right move.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Well, you gotta think. I still think he was right.
But even if he looked like a dope. When we
talk about when we talk about these players that he's coming,
these are all guys that Joe Shane drafted. It's not
like these are left over. These are all guys that
Joe Shane drafts.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
Like the Saquon Barkley telephone thing during Hard Knocks of
you're gonna give us a call?

Speaker 1 (26:51):
Right, you look stupid? Yeah, but the ultimate decision was right, like,
you're not winning more than well, he like became, you
don't know what you're know And if he if he
went to the Chiefs and One, if Barkley was signed
by the Chiefs and One, it wouldn't be that big
as well. Of course he goes to the chief But
when you what but the bad thing is and and boy,

(27:11):
this is why the Giant should have never done Hard Knocks.
When you say it on TV and the owner says,
I really don't want to see him go to Philadelphia.
That'd be the worst thing. And not only does he
go to Philadelphia, but they win. That's bad luck bad
But like I defended it at the time, I do
it again.

Speaker 5 (27:28):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
And all those guys Scatibow and Dark that they traded
back up and they got him. Uh and and he
flashed just you need to keep him.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
Healthy, yeah, no, and and and the whole thing is
that these are the only two jobs that are really
good because you have young talent. With Atlanta and the Giants,
you know, the talent we talked about the Giants being
the best job that's out there. Now the Steelers is
the best job because you can come into that job
and keep that for ten years even if you stink.
So those are those are the jobs. But these are
the jobs Tennessee, Arizona, they like, these are not jobs,

(28:01):
but most jobs for people to come in and say, yeah,
these are like, hey, if you really want a head
coaching job, it's one of thirty two. Like it's really
the Giants and the Falcons. These are the jobs.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Well, you just look at out of the now nine jobs,
only three of them actually have a quarterback that's an incumbent,
one of whom you have no idea how good he
might be. Cam Ward was good in spots I watched
enough Titans games, or are like, all right, maybe with
the right guy you can build, but the rest of
that roster is no good and you've got an ownership

(28:30):
group that nobody's got confidence in, right, And that's the
common theme to a lot of this is that all right,
I'm gonna go try to coach there.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
How long do I actually get to try to rebuild?

Speaker 2 (28:44):
No?

Speaker 1 (28:45):
I mean, look like I can't even say, look all
the other jobs. The Dolphins is not a great job.
The Browns is not a great job. I mean it's
not like you can sit here and say, hey, you're
coming into a lot of great things. It's hard, but
like we're here.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
Morris wins four games to close the season, they finished
in a tie record wise in the division, lose the
tie breaker to Carolina, and he still gets fired even
though you ham strung him with the Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
But that but that's that's why you need it. You
need a you need a John Harbaugh because look, if
they had won one more game, they make the playoffs.
How do you beat the Bills and lose to the Jets? Like,
I mean, like, how do you do that? How how
do you how do you do that? First I could
just say, how do you lose Beatriots? If you stink
and you just lose to everybody? I get it, But like,

(29:36):
how do you beat the Bills and lose to the Jet?
Like season game that's like a September game.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
You make your notre dame case of hey, we weren't
we weren't full yet?

Speaker 1 (29:48):
Not to find out what's trending in the wide world
of sports. From Special Delivery, Steve to saying or SB,
what do you got for us? My friend?

Speaker 6 (29:54):
Everything is final in the NBA. Now, Golden State at
home easily took the late game against Portland one night
ninety seven, and.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
They just tipped off like ten minutes ago.

Speaker 6 (30:04):
Even though Steph Curry was two of nine shooting from
the floor, mostly three point attempts, he had seven points.
He also had eleven assists and just one turnover. In LA,
the Lakers ripped Atlanta one forty one to one sixteen,
Lebron James thirty one points, Luka Doncic with twenty seven.
They had each been listed as questionable. Lebron passes Robert

(30:24):
Parrish for most double doubles in NBA history by a
guy age forty or older, and the Lakers starting five
tonight combined for at least one hundred points, forty rebounds,
thirty assists, at least ten threes made, and the starting
five shots sixty percent from the floor. No other starting
five in the history of the NBA has done all
of that in one game. Meanwhile, Minnesota did not have

(30:47):
Anthony Edwards out with a foot injury, did not have
Rudy Gobert. He was out after another flagrant foul, but
Minnesota shot sixty percent from the floor and one at
Milwaukee won thirty nine to one. Zho six Julius Randall
twenty nine points. Oklahoma City had been zero to three
against the Spurs this season, but beat them up tonight
one nineteen ninety eight over San Antonio shake Giljis Alexander

(31:08):
with thirty four points. Okc's record now thirty four and seven.
At Houston twenty eight points for Kevin Durant. At a
Rockets win against Chicago one nineteen one thirteen Denver Edge,
New Orleans won twenty two to one sixteen Jamal Murray
thirty five points, thirty one for Peyton Watson, and at Miami,
the Heat held off Phoenix one twenty seven to one
twenty one. Bam Adebayou twenty nine points, Norman Powell twenty seven.

(31:32):
Anthony Davis of the maz will be reevaluated in six
weeks after a second opinion surgery not required on the
left hand. All Star voting continues through Wednesday, then the
starters will be announced on Monday. In college hoops, Kansas
at home upset number two, Iowa State eighty four sixty three,
number three Yukon won sixty nine sixty four at number
twenty five ranks, seat in Hall, Virginia one at Louisville,

(31:55):
Tennessee in two overtimes, beat Texas A and m NHL
shutout wins for Boston and sae Lewis at home. Anaheim
with a home victory three to one against Dallas at
Washington Caps in overtime, beat Montreal Tampa Bay a shootout
winner at Pittsburgh. Tampa Bay Lightning have won eleven in
a row. The Diamondbacks acquired third baseman Nolan Aeronado and

(32:15):
cash from Saint Louis free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker, reportedly
as offers from the Mets and the Blue Jays. The
Yankees will acquire lefty pitcher Ryan Weathers from Miami, and
the Royals are moving most of their outfield fences in
ten feet at their stadium, just ten feet, just ten field.
They purpose with the waterfall. They don't want to skew it.
They want it to be more like lyage average. The

(32:37):
waterfall is going to be the actual fence. All of
that is stake facs would pretty cool those days.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
If you had to if the waterfall was the wall,
and you had to actually go there to catch a ball.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
But it's like the old hill right where he had
the flagpole and everything back in the day.

Speaker 6 (32:52):
Yes, Houston, But they are lowering the wall by a
foot and a half. So if you could just put
a Kansas City waterfall like right at the border, you'd
be reaching into a waterfall to try and steal a
home run. Yeah, I like that'd be interesting, you hold
the backside of water. Three Live Golf League captain said
they're not planning to follow Brooks capcutback to the PGA

(33:14):
Tour The Three Bryce and De Shamba, Cameron Smith, John Ron.
The Live season starts next month in Saudi Arabia. Notre
Dame football coach Marcus Freeman will hold a news conference
on Wednesday. ESPN said he is not expected to leave
for an NFL job. Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadik declared
for the NFL draft. Ohio State tight end Max Claire
declared for the draft. Carolina Panthers will pick up the

(33:36):
fifth year option on quarterback Bryce Young's contract. The Chargers
fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman, the Eagles remove Kevin Tulo
as offensive coordinator, and Yes Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin
stepped down after nineteen seasons.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve O.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Coming up next.
