(01:58):
ten years in the league. Ready for Game two of
these NBA Finals. You have not watched clipped yet?

Speaker 4 (02:06):
I haven't. I'm saving it, you know, I gotta wait.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
I need like the inside.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Yeah, TAM's doing the Harry Potter that's a thing. Yeah,
every we're spoiled in today's.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Media, right right, Yeah, Because we had the Jalen Brown
quote a little bit earlier talking about how he used
his ten days off and it was, yeah, I watched
Harry Potter. I don't have a family and kids whatever
to chase around, so yeah, this is what I did.
And I just kind of chuckled. I'm like, all right,
that's not a bad way to go. I think I'd
sleep a lot. The TV would be on in the background,
There'd undoubtedly be some Law and Orders, maybe a Harry

(02:38):
Potter movie mixed therein. I don't know, but yeah, it'd
be a lot of slacking for me. There's no question
about I've watched the first two episodes. I gotta say
Furious Styles has been fantastic, the man known as Lawrence
Fishburn getting it done as Doc Rivers and if any
of those practices were really like that with Doc, I
want more film of that. Give me some more of that.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
How do you? How do you feel about me the
role that I play in it? Am? I am? I
pretty cool? A wizard's big time right there?

Speaker 3 (03:10):
No, that's just it. I mean, did you did you
think you'd have someone playing you in in movies and television?

Speaker 4 (03:18):
No? If there's stage I listen. I'm a skinny kid
from Pasadena man, and I don't care how it goes down,
how it shakes up. There's somebody playing me in a film,
and this is this is even bigger than the what
what's what's the stolen gems? What's the other movie? Well,

(03:39):
uncut gems that was that was actually me. But this
like somebody playing me. That's cool.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
And then it's gonna have to come meet with you
and hang out with you a little bit to get
a load of Ryan Hollins twenty twenty four.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
I do have a bone to pick because the picture
that they have of Fay playing me one he's got
an earrings, Mike, take those earrings out. You know, I
don't even have my ears. Piers it too. He's wearing
a red shirt under it. I'm always a tank top guy.
I practice. Come on, guys, come on.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
The devil is in the details, Ryan Hollins, you know this. Yeah,
earrings they decided you needed some flare and what is
this office space?

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Well, Mike is an earring guy. I'm not an earring guy.
So me and Mike both came into UCLA at the
same time as freshman so I'm pretty privileged that my boy,
my boy's playing me. Okay, but the earrings. Come on, Mike,
you know I don't have earrings. You got earrings. I'm
not an earring guy.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
That's that's a bad job by the production squad though.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
But it's Mike's big debut. I don't know, No.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Mike, Mike's gotta do you as solid though.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
He could take the earrings out and he could put
on the tank top, you know that. I mean, man,
I guess they kind of can't go back and do
it now, but I mean it's just right now.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Well, I mean, look, man, through the power of magic,
editing and wizardry, we could do it for our own purposes.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Well, I guess it's like it's epically bad with the guest.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Yeah, people have been pretty upset with some of the
representations for Stephen Clay go into some of the principles
Blake Griffin and beyond. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
But but but it's like the what are the freak frights?
Like no one can stop watching it, like everybody's watching.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
No, it was. I think it's well done. I mean
Ed O'Neill and Lawrence Fishbird are just absolutely amazing. As
you would expect them to be no, no, no, but I
mean they stand out right. I mean, but I also
know who they are.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
I would have just played me if they needed it.
I could have played me. They could Yeah, you would
have been around now. Now I do want to address
what you said. I mean, listen, Doc never spoke to
us that practice like that. That is absolutely no.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Just see there you go.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
So that's the one thing glad because I watched that
clip and it's called viral. You can find it wherever
you look it up. Just you know, Doc Rivers clipped
and it's him shouting basically playing dozens with the players
and it's like, oh, you want to you want to
pipe up now? And they keep trying to go Reddick
into dropping N bombs like what the hell?

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Hold on? Hold on?

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, there's multiple yes.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Saying no he does.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
No, no, no, he doesn't say it like that. He
won't do it. You can't get him to do it.
But that's part of the no part of what they
do with his character.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
No one asked, come on, you know you say that,
stop it. I did not nobody.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
This is two episodes in. I've already got like fifteen questions.
So as soon as you catch up. We're gonna do
a whole three hour Sunday show going through all of
this stuff.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Now. I'm just that we never asked to say the
in word. Dude.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Yeah, folks asking if he ever did, come on, you
know you do, just say it, man. And then they
do a thing on the bus where they you know,
my name is kind of thing and then he says,
but I won't say Blake, and everybody starts laughing or
whatever because he doesn't, you know, complete the rhyme. Spoiler alert,
it's been out a few days. It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
But watch it. You're broady.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Oh no, no, no, look you're on the inside. You're
gonna laugh your eyes. This is one of those things.
I want to watch it with you, like it's Mystery
Science Theater three thousand. I'll get somebody to play Tom
Servo over here the robot, and we'll go from there.
Shay'll step in, Mary, He'll step in. I want to like,

(07:47):
sign me up. I'm in for this.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Oh gosh, here we are.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Watching clip beginning to end with Ryan Hollins. We'll put
it on a Patreon and by the end of it
we'll be able to buy a sandwich.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
What do you think, oh gosh, and I'm mad. Okay,
we'll say you this much like do I talk or
am I just like in the background.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Well, I think it's one of those I think everybody
gets a line here and there. I don't think there's
you get more from CP three and Blake and DeAndre
so the three you.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Know, fun question, yeah, seriously, not serious question. Should I
be getting paid for this?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Like that's a good question. Dramatic re enactment of the
life and times of Ryan Hollins. I don't know how
that works. You should call your agent, I be like, hey,
is this fair use of my uh a person?

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Yeah? Have they said my name? Or is this just
like a likeness thing?

Speaker 3 (08:47):
That's a good question. No, no, but there might have
been in a practice where just shouting names like I
don't look, man, I didn't sit there like with that
fall point pen taking notes at every turn. Come on,
now what I expect it?

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Then?

Speaker 3 (09:02):
No, No, that's the second watch. First one is pure
visceral entertainment value, cringe factor you name it, because I
remember being on air here as all that started going down.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Do we go and buy like the you know, like
the DVDs, like you know you buy the DVD set? Yeah,
what do we go buy it? Clipped?

Speaker 3 (09:24):
I'm sure they'll they'll make a special one because they'll
try to nominate it for some Emmy's or something.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
We'll get it.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
We gotta let it run its course here and get
all those episodes out first.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
Yeah. Yeah, and then I asked for money, and then
ask for money afterwards. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
See what the ratings are. See if people stick with it.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
No, you gotta stick with it at this point.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
But yeah, I mean episode one was the white party,
that tells you where we start things. Seeing that probably
got people all up in their fields. Me just saying those.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Words, Yeah, you know, I mean, because.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
If they don't remember what that was, like, what the
hell's he talking about?

Speaker 4 (10:07):
Listen? Listen? I am again. It's it's like wine. You don't.
You don't just you know, drink all the wine?

Speaker 5 (10:16):
Right?

Speaker 4 (10:17):
Like you wait? Right that that That's what I'm saying,
Like you wait, don't.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
I don't know that I could do this in an
eight episode marathon, though. I think we need sensory overload
for me.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
I mean, apparently you don't sleep at night. You're sending
a show ideas at one am.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
I got problems. What can I say?

Speaker 4 (10:33):
So we'll just binge it.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
We'll like demons in my head.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Man, I won't even be scheduled. I'll just come in
the whole show and we'll just have clipped on in
the background.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
No, I think that's what we're gonna need to do.
We'll get you on a plane here and uh either
that will zoom it and we'll just watching watch it
together and America can watch.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Hey.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
I wanted to get this clip from Jason Tainaman. I've
been teasing it a bit. I thought it gave some
pretty good perspective of where his head is as related
to the expectations on him, Jalen Brown, and where the
Celtics are to.

Speaker 6 (11:04):
Be honest, I was nervous.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
I ain't gonna love it. I was.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
I was nervous in like a anxious way right as
like a little kid. It was just it's surreal being
in the finals. And you know, when you're young, I
guess in your career you think you're always want to
go back, and last year was kind of like a
wake up call when we didn't make it. So you know,

(11:30):
getting back to this point and being here it is
really a big deal.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
What do you think Rian Hollins, he's a guy. I mean,
coming out of last year when they didn't make that
run back, people calling for the breakup, some folks even
trying to get Missoula bounced out of there, the breakup
of Brown Tatum and they can't stay together, all of
those things. It seems like Jayson Tatam's got a pretty
good idea of the weight that's out there in the

(12:00):
media world and fandom for him.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
Hey, I look, as far as Tatum is concerned, I
love this mindset. They made some huge moves. Man, they
moved on from spart Uh, Grant Williams. I thought that
that those were kind of like their toughness guys.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Yea, Grant Williams formerly part of both these teams.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
I know that's things that's terrible.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
He becomes an anecdote.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Grant made a lot of money, so Grant, Yeah, he
definitely got paid. He was appreciated, and that's that's kind
of part of the game.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
All we're looking for it, right, we all want to
be appreciated and loved.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
But at the end of the day, when when you're
looking at Jason Tatum, you're sitting back and you're saying hey, Uh,
he shouldn't be taking this for granted, and he's not.
And they have a chance to do something really special,
uh in Boston, And you can argue that this is

(12:59):
the team that he's had, you know, by far there
and they got again, they have a chance to win.
So I think for him, this is a really cool opportunity. Uh.
In Boston's mindset is you know, and from what I see,
don't mess it up, you know, don't go out and
mess it up because you do have this wonderful opportunity

(13:22):
each the best team. I look how deep they are,
and you know, I don't think the series is over,
but you do have to be a little nervous going. Man,
we you know, we gotta find a way to figure
this thing out. You know, we got to win. This
is a this is gold. These opportunities don't grow on trees.
And I think the scrutiny of Tatum is unfair. And

(13:43):
I say unfair in the sense that he understands how
good his team is. Because they are that good, he
doesn't have to do as much. No, And I don't
think there's anything wrong with that.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
No, And that's the thing, right, because of the game
that they had in the game poor Zingis had. You know,
it took some of the heat away from what his
Game one performance was because it was uneven. Final stat
line looked okay, and certainly the plus minus was immense,
but you know, he missed some shots early and when

(14:16):
you were getting the comeback bid from the Mavericks, a
little bit, you know, wondering if it was you know,
some of that rearing its head again of those games
where the play with your food analogy or line has
been used a lot for the Celtics, and Tatum's seen
as the leader, so yeah, it gets into that difficult spot.
The Mavericks have rewarded Nico Harrison with an extension as well.

(14:41):
You know, when you're talking about the architecture on that
other side, he is Ryan Hollins, I'm Bike Carmen. Coming
up next, we take a turn out to Vegas, get
an update of odds and what are we looking at
for finals, MVP odds for Chris Stops after last night,
what's the liability? All of that and more with our
guy Todd Furman. As we continue, Ryan Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Hey, welcome back in Fox sportts A Radio Jason Smith
Show with Me, Mike Harmon. No Jason Smith tonight instead
my guy Ryan Hollins, who I already know is gonna
be hate watching Clipped and I can't wait to do
that long form podcast and media appearance here with us
to break down all of the problematic pieces, and not

(16:14):
just from a content perspective, just I mean, you got
a guy run around with earrings playing.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
You Yeah, yeah, I don't wear earrings. Come on, Mike,
earrings out.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
That's just wrong. Also, not a lot of guys run
around seven feet, so I mean, you know you're stretching
it there as well.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
But hey, yeah, it's pretty authentic, pretty close enough, close enough, man.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Hey, that's your guy. That's the thing.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Like, imagine, this is like, this is okay, this is
the perfect This is pretty similar to Jason playing you.
You're like, it could be worse, but it's my boy.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
I would love to see how he would try to
be me. That's how I feel, that's how well he
would be able to do that job. Ryan Hollins, it's
perfect that we have our next guest. Let's go out
to Vegas stime for our guy. Todd Ferhman, longtime friend
of the show, The Bet the Board podcast, CBS Sports Line. Yes,

(17:17):
so much going on, Hey, Todd, how well do you
think Jason could pull off a portrayal of me?

Speaker 5 (17:22):
I mean, look, I'm not gonna sell Smith short, so
I'm sure he could do it. Would it be the
perfect portrayal of you? Harm? Probably not. We just have
to see if Smith can stand character and keep himself
focused for more than thirty seven seconds at a.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Time and not going to Mets and nix Rance Suddenly.

Speaker 5 (17:38):
Yeah, I was gonna say, I mean, that's part for
the course. You have to complain about being a long
suffering Mets fan, and then that goes right into being
a long suffering Jets fan that inevitably will start the
season three and seven, and Aaron Rodgers won't be the
guy to return him to the promised Land like Joe
Willie Namath.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
See see how quickly that came apart, Ryan Hollins, all Right,
Game one of the NBA Finals in the books, Todd
kristaps Porzingis with a huge Game one performance move his
MVP odds at all.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
Yeah, I moved him quite a bit. I didn't think
he was a good bet before the series started, and
I sure wouldn't bet him now with the price being reduced.
He came in at fifty to one to win Finals
MVP with that eighteen point first half. The books that
were trading that market live dropped him as low as
six and a half to one, and that's kind of
where he settled. If rips Porzingis goes on to be
the most valuable player for the Celtics, I think the

(18:29):
Mavericks end up winning the series in six. So all
it does is it creates value on other players, most
notably Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum to kind of be
the guys to carry the Celtics across the finish line.
But it was a true collective effort and I don't
quite think Dallas had answers to defend the perimeter whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
In Game one.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Okay, my understanding it was kind of trending is that
Luca misses the shot, ends up not making his number.
What was it over thirty.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
One and a half and he left with yeah, yeah,
how big was that?

Speaker 4 (19:01):
It explained that to the folks at home.

Speaker 5 (19:03):
Yeah, it's always one of those things when sportsbooks Ryan
can get some of the marquee players to come under
some of their own statistical categories, and points being the
primary market that most of the recreational betters will go after.
So you mentioned where his number took closed anywhere from
thirty and a half on the low end to thirty
one and a half. Given the nature of the game,
he comes out in the final minute so doesn't have

(19:24):
a chance to get there, but between him and Kyrie
Irving going under with the amount of money that the
Mavericks saw in terms of being live underdogs. Folks were
pretty disappointed there. And then even a lot of the
marquee players for the Celtics come in under their total
per zingis being the outlier in that particular regard. His
number was around twelve and a half, and you did
see some pretty aggressive price tags for him to get
off to a quick start. So overall, a pretty good

(19:47):
result for the sports books. We'll see how things end
up unfolding for them on Sunday and if Dallas's marquee
players bounce back with a little bit more in terms
of scoring capabilities and Luca I have a feeling will
distribute more than one assist he compiled in the game
one loss.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
One of the more curious stat lines we've seen in
recent memory. Hey tomorrow, Stanley Cup Final leave off the
s for savings, how are we betting this market? Panthers
a slight favorite number.

Speaker 5 (20:13):
Pretty tight in my opinion, I think it's right where
it needs to be. With the Panthers entering as a favorite,
they have a little bit of that playoff pedigree, coming
up short in the last postseason losing to the Golden
Knights in five, but significantly healthier this time around, especially
with the six day layoffs. And you look at the
Panthers from top to bottom, they're the deeper team of
the two, but they don't have the star power up front.
And as we've seen with number ninety seven Conor McDavid

(20:35):
and number twenty nine on dry title for the Oilers,
that's tandem more than capable of taking over a game
at a moment's notice. I think the Florida Panthers have
to play their most disciplined series, yet it's a team
prone to taking penalties, and if they're going to play
at a disadvantage in that regard, that Oiler's power play
can be absolutely lethal. So I think it should be
a great series. And even if folks haven't watched the
NHL throughout the regular season, they'll see a ton of

(20:58):
a ton of star power and two arguably the best
teams and most complete teams in the league vying to
get their name engraved in the toughest trophy to win
in sports.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
I'm going to bring it back to the NBA. What
are some of the safest bets that you can take
on the finals?

Speaker 5 (21:13):
Yeah, I don't know if there's anything safe this time
of year by any stretch of the imagination. But when
you look at the way the market has responded, you
have to think that Dallas will make some of the
adjustments in Game two that they didn't have ready in
Game one. We know the Celtics are prone to three
point variants in Game two seems to have really been
their bugaboo through the first couple of series where they
take the foot off the accelerator a little bit. But

(21:35):
even with that thirty eight percent shooting performance from beyond
the arc, it wasn't a massive outlier. But I do
think Dallas finds a way to keep this game a
little bit more competitive with lean towards the Mavericks plus
the points in game two, but not something that I'm
running to the window to try and bet. Very curious
to see which coach can get the leg up on
his competition, and we'll make the better adjustments between Jason
Kidd and Joe Mizula.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Plus seven and a half what I'm seeing online right
now for game to Todd, I want to take you
outside of the numbers for a second and go to
the larger story. Major League Baseball announcing the suspension five
players Marcano permanently ineligible, somehow only hits on four percent
of his bets. You can speak to that a little bit,
but the suspensions folks bemoan it and talk about advertisers

(22:18):
and partnerships or whatever. I'm like, isn't this what it's
supposed to do?

Speaker 4 (22:22):
Catch it?

Speaker 5 (22:23):
I mean, yeah, exactly. I mean folks who complain all
they want, but it's not that difficult. If you're a
professional athlete and you're told not to bet on your
own sport, to go out there and abide by that
particular rule. If you think that betting on your own
sport is more important than collecting a salary, than by
all means, retire and bet. The eight to ten team
parlays at two Capedo, Marcano was winning at about a
five percent clip. Have a feeling he would have made

(22:45):
a few more as a professional ballplayer. And I know
folks always want to claim that a lot of these
athletes are victims, and if the leagues and the players
and associations aren't explaining to them the pitfalls and what
is and isn't allowed, then shame on them. But at
the same time, with all of the advertise, I think
dollars that come from the sports books. It's more money
in the coffers, it's bigger TV deals that we see,
and all of these players are making a lot more money.

(23:07):
So I don't think it's that outlandish or that difficult
to request to tell a Major League Baseball player not
to bet on his own sport, and if so inclined,
wait till the career is over. We know it's a
short window for a lot of ballplayers. They'll have plenty
of time after they're retired to bet all of those
parlays and all the run line bets that they want
to make in and around Major League Baseball.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
What are the major shifts that you've seen in the
betting market. Has it increased as it doubled? Is NBA skyrocketed?
I know, you know when I was playing, that was
something that was just you know, I don't want to
say frown upon, but it wasn't as friendly as it
is now.

Speaker 5 (23:44):
Well, I think there's more access for folks that are
looking to do things in a responsible manner and in
terms of the legal avenues instead of betting offshore through
some of the corner book makers that are out there,
and the sportsbooks look are fully incentivized much like the league.
You do everything they can and to share information and
protect the integrity of the game, because I think if
there's ever any insinuation of impropriety like we saw around

(24:07):
the John K. Porter gets in with the wrong people,
tries to fix particular outcomes that pertain to his point
totals and some of those other statistical categories, it changes
the dynamic and it makes the NBA, the Major League Baseball,
the NFL, the NHL one step away from the WWE.
So I think we always have to be cognizant of
what's going on. But for all the people that say

(24:27):
every time a player gets coot betting on sports it's
a negative, I think it's the exact opposite. It means
that all of these restrictions and guardrails that are out
there are doing what they're supposed to do and catching
a lot of these players before we happen to see
some bigger issues.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Todd Berman, I guess bet the Board podcast and network, right,
it's a full network and suite. I see a lot
of things about college football previews coming out. How deep
are you guys into your research.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
We've done a couple of the smaller conferences to kick
things off, Conference USA, the MAC, and the Mountain West
available for those folks that want to jumpstart their college
football prep on some of the smaller leagues. We'll get
into the power for conferences in early July, with the
Big Ten the SEC of course, being the two pre
eminent leagues in the lands. So you kind of have
to ease into the deep end of the pool with

(25:12):
college football, and then before we know it, we'll have
full deep dives for all of the NFL divisions to
get people ramped up, not just from a betting side,
but for fans, fantasy players, and everybody else looking to
try and gain an edge. It is a labor of love,
to say the least, and it feels like the offseason
is nonexistent with football dominating the discourse more or less
three hundred and sixty five days.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
A year, all right.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
Last one for me OTAs how much do you take
from any thing floating out of here?

Speaker 5 (25:42):
Very little? In all honesty. I think you try and
find a storyline that could potentially be problematic and look
to try and uncover what may actually be going on
behind the scenes. I think the only one that kind
of stood out A little bit to me was Lamar
Jackson missing out on OTAs knowing that he's under contract
and it's supposed to be the leader of the Ravens.
Given the unfortunate circumstances for how things ended for them

(26:03):
when they were supposed to be the team to emerge
from the AFC, you'd like to see him leave from outfront.
But for the most part, unless there is a major injury,
and you hope there aren't, you don't glean too much
from some of these OTAs. As we know, everybody looks
good running in shorts and notice and then there's no
contact involved, So tough to try and make blanket generalizations

(26:23):
for what you're seeing now versus what'll translate when we
start playing games for real and early September.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
That's a good thing. I'm in round four of a
long long form fantasy mock draft.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
Todd, Yeah, well you enjoyed that. It sounds like my
definition of misery, and so Ryan and I will not
feel bad for you in the absolute least.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
Arm I appreciate you. He's Todd Furman at Todd Furman
where you find them at bet the board pod as well.
My guy joins us each and every week. Be good, buddy,
take care of Vegas formulaia, and he's gone, And just
like that, Ryan Hollins, Mike Harmon with you here. I
think I wanted to get the nuanced perspective because it's

(27:02):
a new well kindred spirits in terms of the way
this betting story broke out in Major League Baseball, Ryan,
just from the idea of a lot of handwringing. Now,
I could still have my thoughts on insiders having ties
to to betting services and apps and everything. I don't

(27:24):
know that that's good for business. It's always kind of
been implied that if you're giving insider info out on
the airwave, hey things, you're hearing whatever, then it's going
to affect the marketplace. But when you're sponsored by those
things and your words can influence dollars like that, I
think it becomes a little bit. I guess the only
question that left unasked for Todd would have been the

(27:46):
whole Lakers coaching search. But again, but that becomes a
bit of an offshore kind of thing. You know, when
we ever we get into perfect and imperfect information on
things like that. But you know, right now would be
Danny Hurley in a reversal WWE style over JJ Reddick
based on the last twenty four hours and certainly whatever

(28:09):
meeting Danny Hurley had with Polinka and with Genie Buss
and well Jmore you know her husband part of the
ownership there as well. So just curious though, you know
going forward, you know those marriages, not theirs, but the
the idea of insiders and the information and those betting

(28:30):
markets and the guardrails, as Todd put it, really strengthening
and making sure you know you're not going to get
get it past people, right do make even go back
to the show Hey and epay kind of situation, with
a lot of that being done off the books. I
still think it got wrapped up a lot easier than
it seems like is logical. But everybody wants to clap

(28:55):
the hands, go Vegas Blackjack dealer style and move on.
And epe is now doing bub or something. I think
Shae when he ordered food tonight, Ryan was actually hoping
that Epey was going to deliver it.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
Look as a player preseason, we all watch those videos.
Don't bet on it. You see the you know the danger.
So if you're silly enough to make those choices, man
that's on you. And you know, for any of the players, Man,
if someone comes to you and and here's the reality,
this is what's what's what's irritating is you know, your

(29:28):
boys will come to you, the random guy will come, Hey,
what's going on and be like, look, you ain't take
your whole entire life and put it towards playing a sports.
So don't come to me and ask me for some
type of information or sudden you know, something crazy like
you're gonna give you know, give that up. So you know, look,

(29:49):
I've even had people come to me right now, you know,
as an announcer, say what do you think is going
to have to happen to in the game. I have
no idea. Are you crazy? Don't look at me, don't
talk to me, don't say nothing about it.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
Just watch the B block. I got a scintillating three
minute segment of how to stop the pick and roll.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
Yeah. Yeah, well, nonetheless, for the athletes, it's silly to do,
you know, And I thought you'd put it best like
he said, Hey, you wait, you use your whole life
to be an assent when you're done playing better way.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Retirement is long, right, I mean, that's the thing. It's
always when people want to rip the jersey off of someone,
regardless of sport. Ryan, I'm like, if someone's still willing
to pay him a salary and they want to put
themselves through the grind for another year, who am I
to tell them to shut it down?

Speaker 4 (30:37):
Now?

Speaker 3 (30:37):
Should they be starting anymore? Well, those are other conversations,
but ripping a jersey off. They got plenty of time
because you can't go back, at least most guys. Right,
once you hang it up, that's gone and now it's
a long retirement thereafter, So maximize your years as best
you can. And to see these guys get caught one

(30:58):
after another, you just shake your head. It's like, all right,
you get ensnared somewhere and just got yourself in a
bad rabbit hole you didn't get out of, and unfortunately,
with checks and balances for you, perfect information is there
to get you out.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
Yeah. Yeah, so you know, just don't bet on it.
That's the actual site.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
He's smarter, that's it, right.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
Yeah, yeah, And like you said, if you don't want
to play, if it's more important than playing, retire and
bet away.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
I just like that. He immediately went to the eighteen
parlays that's the best. He's right, allins. I'm Mike Garmin.
It's Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith Show with me Mike Harmon.
Jason'll big back on Monday as we break down Game two.
But coming up next we'll preview Game two and we
say goodbye to a legend Cuz I may have something
to do with wagering when I talk about a show

(31:48):
host that hung it up today. But first, it's Steve
Desager for the final time tonight with what's trending in
our sporting universe.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
Hello.

Speaker 8 (31:55):
Caitlin Clark and Aleah Boston, according to the Athletic tonight,
are expected to be left off the Olympic roster this summer.
Of course, this is the US women's basketball Olympic team,
which is won gold at every games since nineteen ninety six.
It would still be a pretty good roster if it's
Kelsey Plum, Diana Tassi, Britney Griner, Asia Wilson, Breonna Stewart,

(32:16):
Sabrina Ganescu, et cetera.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
But that's why I've heard of them. They're pretty good.

Speaker 8 (32:21):
That's what the Athletic is reporting just in the last
ten minutes that Clark is expected to be left off
the twelve woman roster for this summer. In Paris, Indiana
was two to nine coming into tonight's WNBA game at
winless Washington. The Fever win eighty five eighty three, as
Caitlin Clark had thirty points from three point range seven
of thirteen. She had six assists eight turnovers. Washington is

(32:43):
zero to eleven. Seattle won at Vegas Phoenix on a
three at the buzzer edge. Minnesota, LA was two and
seven but got to win over Dallas. Last night's NBA
Finals opener averaged only eleven million TV viewers. NBA Finals
Game two at Boston his Sunday night. The Stanley Cup
Final starts Saturday, Edmonton at Florida. At the French Open
women's final is Saturday. Number one Egas Fiontek will face

(33:06):
number twelve seed Jasmin Poulini of Italy. At the French Open.
On the men's side, today, Carlos Alcarez one his semi
final in five sets, and number four Alexander Zverev also won.
TNT Sports will reportedly get the French Open rights for
ten years starting next year. The NCAA Baseball Tournament Super
Regional started today. These are best of three weekend series.

(33:28):
Florida State won its opener twenty four to four over Yukon.
Number four North Carolina hit two homers in the bottom
of the ninth to wee beat West Virginia eight to six,
Virginia at home seven to four over Kansas State, and
number one Tennessee one today eleven six against Evansville. Four
more series start tomorrow, including number two Kentucky hosting Oregon State.

(33:48):
Scottie Scheffler leads the Memorial by three strokes. Roy McElroy
is six back, barely making the cut. Justin Thomas, who
shot seventy seven today, and Jason Day will keep golfing
this weekend despite a seventy five to but Jordan Speith
just missed the cut at five overpar, and Ricky Fowler
was fourteen over dead last. Martin Kaimer is tied for
the lead at the Livgulf event in Houston after the

(34:09):
first round. The Mike Tyson Jake Paul fight was rescheduled
for mid November. Programming notes three events tomorrow on Fox TV.
First baseball from London Mets versus Phillies. Each team has
won three straight. West Ham United Stadium in London has
been reconfigured for baseball this weekend. After that from New York,
the Belmont Stakes on Fox TV, and then it's Dodgers

(34:29):
at Yankee Saturday night. UFL Football Conference Finals are this weekend,
including Sunday night on Fox, Saint Louis hosting San Antonio.
NASCAR's on Fox TV from the road Course this Sunday
in some Sonoma three thirty pm Eastern Time. FS one
will have the Saturday Night Infinity Race. Dodgers won an
eleven innings at Yankee Stadium tonight, ending New York's eight

(34:50):
game winning streak two to one to run double top
of the eleventh from Teoscar Hernandez, bottom of the eleventh
Aaron Judge and RBI single. He had two hits to
walks in the life. Dodger offense went four for thirty six,
eleven men left on base and still won the game
against a Yanks team that had won nineteen of twenty three.
But il fielder Juan Soto was out with a sore

(35:12):
forearm tonight, MRI showed just inflammation. Cincinnati won at six
straight game three two over the Cubs. Milwaukee a ten
nothing winner at Detroit. The White Sox ended up fourteen
losing streak, beating YUS seven to two. Kansas City was
down seven to nothing in the first and still beat
Seattle ten to nine with three runs in the bottom
of the ninth. Saint Louis with three in the eighth,

(35:34):
beat Colorado eight to five. Houston got a complete game
from Frobervaldez, winning seven to one at the Angels Oakland
on a solo homer bottom of the ninth edge Toronto
two to one, and the late game in San Diego
went to the Padres ten to three over Arizona, ending
a five game losing streak.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
Pick to you.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
Appreciate you, Steve. Thanks for everything this week. We'll see
you on the other side. We'll see you Monday as
we go through the trials and tribulations of whatever game
two offers us on Sun. Good luck dealing with Arnie.
I got Saturday. Oh you got oh double duty. I'll
have to send donuts or something to keep you going.

(36:10):
Mary's like, yes, I'm into Mary and Shay. Thanks so
much as well. Mike Harmon, Ryan Hollins with you real quick,
Dan Hurley right now plus one ten, JJ Redick out
to plus four hundred, Chris Quinn at plus six hundred,
Mike and Nori at plus nine hundred, along with James Barrego,
David Adelman at plus twelve hundred, and the Field at

(36:31):
plus eleven fifty. There's your current Laker head coaching odds.
He's Ryan on Mike. Coming up next, we say goodbye
to a legend and wrap things up here on a
beautiful Friday night.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Hey, welcome back in Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith Show
with Me Mike Harmon live from the tyrack dot com
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Jason be back on Monday, Ryan
Hollins in his stead. You can get Ryan and I
Sunday morning six am to nine am Pacific time nine
to noon Eastern as well or in the Planet Houston.

(37:14):
You know, split the difference as we go forward here
on the show. Bernie Pratto coming up in about ten
minutes from now, and Ryan earlier today, a guy who's
been around Major League Baseball a bunch Big Cup fans,
so you know where the battle lines are drawn from
Me and our guy Mark Ramsey, who's in coming in
on the technical side on the next show, White Sox Man.

(37:36):
We finally got that fourteen game losing streak gun. But
Pat Sayjack forty years, eight thousand episodes of Wheel of Fortune,
he signed off tonight for the final time. No more
of he staring at people with confused looks on his
face and that of Vana White when they butcher a

(37:58):
seemingly obvious puzzle or say something out of pocket along
the way. Snarky responses. I still want to know where
you can get some of those great prizes like they
used to do when you'd have money and to be like,
all right, and I only have enough for the ceramic dog,
and you'd buy the ceramic dog to end it. But

(38:18):
he goes away. And it also took away a great
betting thing that I used to do with my mom
and my uncle and my grandma. Each puzzle was a dollar. Man,
let's go we bet on everything, bowling, you name it.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
Yeah, this is this is a dynasty ending man.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
This is weird, right.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
It was like you know Alex Trebek, you know, passes
on and now you know Pat Sajeax is gonna go
into whatever the next phase of career retirement and everything.
It's weird changing in the guard. I gotta find me
some new game show hosts either that I just got
to live on Game Show Network where they'd ever age.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
Hey, you know, and hopefully they have something bigger and
better coming. It's it's hard to come after a legend, man.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
Yeah, no, it's tough.

Speaker 4 (39:03):
Yeah, this is this is this is sad news. But
I guess we should celebrate, man, celebrate the news.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Hey man, When you have eight thousand shows and that
kind of longevity, we should all aspire to that kind
of greatness, being able to hang around and pontificate, and
certainly in sports talk radio and television, try to try
to extend those lives lives as long as we can.
Kind of like we're talking with Todd Furman, don't screw
it up by betting on something or doing something you shouldn't.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
No, don't miss it up.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
All right, all right, So Sunday morning, we'll have plenty
more to break down in the prognostication for Game two,
another day to walk the beach and ponder it all.
But seven and a half point dogs the Mavericks. What's
the one key you know for what you saw in
Game one. That has to change if they're gonna have

(39:53):
a chance.

Speaker 4 (39:54):
They got to play big, which means they have to
punish the switching inside, which means hitting the glass, moving
the basketball, and then they have to defend. They really
struggle to defend. They were lackluster, their rotations were slow,
and I thought Boston got whatever they wanted. And the
big thing with Boston is you have to take away
the three. You got to contest the three. You have

(40:15):
to have those extra efforts, which means you have to
keep your man in front. So the better they can
do individually one on one, they stay out of rotation
and they don't give up those open threes.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
What would you do if you were Kyrie Irving to
try to break the zero for eleventh streak, I get
you change your socks.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
I mean no game, no, no, no. He needs easy looks.
If he can get some layups, even get to the
foul line, that'd be extremely important, and I would attack
Porzingis in the pick and roll. He plays about four
or five feet off in the pick and roll. He's
very long, but you can shoot off from him. He
gives up a lot of those just wide open pull
up jumpers, and that's something that Luca and Kyrie have

(40:54):
to live on.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
It's a curiosity right to keep his feet moving. Right.
He got through game one unscale, but we're still wondering
what that threshold is for him, aren't we.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
Yeah? Yeah, and again I think it's gonna be game
three where you see Kyrie wake up. I don't think
this next game is the game, but he will be better.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
There you go. He's Ryan Hollins. We'll be back at
it on Sunday another three hours. Appreciate you, brother. It's
Bernie Frattle coming up next here on Fox Sports Radio
