Speaker 3 (00:28):
Hello, Welcome in side final hour tonight The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. A big football Friday.
We're giving you all our picks this hour for the
divisional playoff games this weekend, the National championship game on
Monday night. We're almost here. A Mike Carmon, How many
games left? How many games left? We don't have that many.
(00:49):
We have four five, six seven seven games left, seven seven, seven, seven,
seven seven. We have six seven six six seven six
that you just did it.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
Now. Children everywhere are running out their houses like it's weapons.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Yeah, or they're playing some kind of game where oh
they said six seven yeah. You know. The one question
I had about what do you think about this? Because
you know you're seeing all these end of year lists.
For Weapons. And now at the Oscar nominations coming out soon,
we're gonna find out. I think Weapons is gonna get
nominated for Best Picture. I think Sinners will probably get nominated.
You know, you're talking about a couple of horror movies,
(01:27):
which is awesome.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
The one problem I had with Weapons, right, one problem
I had was that, Okay, there's the one piece of
video from the one person's door of here's the one
kid leaving and with their arms, you know, running through
and running away. Right, this is what happened. They're the
only ones in the town that has camera doorbills. There's
(01:50):
nobody else. There was nobody else in the town that
oh hey we can see where they're running. Look, this
person's camera on their door, got this bunch of kids
running this way or this way. There's the only one
in town. Nobody else got all this, all the kids,
they were running down the streets, they were running on
the lawns and everything else. They were leaving. This was
the only one. This was the only house that had
a ring doorbelt. Yeah, I don't think so. Andy.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
It's a simple town, simple people where the safety and
they don't feel they need it. They don't have porch
pirates come in and steal their packages.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Hey, well, luckily it was the guy that had the
thing on his door, because we know where the kid
went to. Oh, if it was anybody else, we'd have
no idea.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
I mean, come on, or maybe they keep a person
home like Matilda. When Danny DeVito said, someone asked a
side for the packages. Ye, see what I did. I mean,
that's filmography one on one right there. Uh, the other
is you know, it's it's just the the idea of
we we need to have an obvious moodele Yeah, people
(02:48):
can nick and be mad about it.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
There's just that one guy. Or maybe they were just uncooperative.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
Maybe they just didn't want to.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Know I didn't have It's like it's like what always
happens in the police procedurals when they say, hey, you
have a you have cameras in the back. Yeah, but
it wasn't working right the cameras turn it's never on. Yeah,
we don't turn it on. We don't have a camera.
There's cameras bleeping everywhere. Now, man, you can't run that anymore.
You can't say, yeah, we had a camera, but it
(03:15):
was turned off. Like, no cameras are everywhere. They got
everything everywhere you want to go.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
There's nothing else. Everybody that's out in the street has
a camera. Just the guy out walking his dog. Yeah,
he's gotta do his one little flick of his thumb
and he's recording you.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
I mean, come on, look, we got him right here.
Everybody's looking to make it big on the on the interwebs.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Now, before we get into the actual games, we're gonna
we're gonna pick the two Saturday games coming up in
a couple of minutes. It kind of feels like when
you look at this week in the divisional playoff round.
I always love the divisional playoff round because you have
the most number of games with the teams where the
talent is the closest. Right you get to the conference championship,
there's only two games here, we have four. You have
teams that won last week that proven hey we're not
(03:58):
the pretender. The team we beat was the pretender. But
I kind of get a feeling that this is sort
of the last hurrah, last roundup for a couple of
teams if they lose this weekend before big changes. And
these are teams, Hey, you're in the division round of
the playoff. Yeah, I kind of feel like for the
Bills and the Rams, this is the last round up.
Time they lose this weekend, you're gonna see big changes
(04:20):
right now for the Bills. You know here they are. Look,
it's I always I've said this from the beginning. Maybe
a better path for the Bills to try to get
to the super Bowl this year on the road, having
to do it hard. But this is not a great
Bills team. This is a Josh Allen save us team
and they can't run the football as consistently as they like. Okay,
that's fine, You're not gonna do a lot better than
(04:41):
James Cooks. But okay, but you look at the weapons.
You can't keep asking Josh Allen to win by himself
as he's getting older. Right, the tight end position, you
thought you had it set, and Dalton Kincaid was going
to be the next Travis Kelsey's not. He's not the
same guy, and he had trouble staying in the lineup.
Your wide receiving corps nooe even knows who any of
these guys are. And the guy you picked in the
(05:02):
first round to be your next great wide receiver was
benched a couple of times this season keyon Coleman, like
if the and the Bills defense is good, but it's
not quite the lights out defense they had years ago
at the beginning of this run, Like, if the Bills lose,
you're gonna see a ton of movement and and and
and movement for bigger players, bigger position players at the
(05:25):
at the skill sets and otherwise, because you can't just say, well, hey,
you know we we we had we you know, we'll
we'll go get back at it next year because we
have Josh Allen. No, you're gonna lose to a Denver
team that is show you in a year we can
flip the roster, get younger and be better than you are.
So I think if the Bills lose this weekend, you're
gonna see big, big changes to the team next season. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
I think the curiosity is because you do have a
lot of free agents to be particularly on the defensive
side of the ball. We'll get into the game in particular,
uh in depth in a minute, but a lot of
those guys aren't even gonna be able to finish the
job on the field this year, let alone looking forward
to you do you need to get younger draft and
(06:09):
get into free agency a bit. You look at Josh
Allen in that receiving corps. I mean, Brandon Cooks is
a guy that folks are going Sam Brandon Cooks.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Is that his kid? That's him.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
That's the guy that's been the thousand yard receiver for
a number of different operations. And look, he's just a professional.
He just comes in and does his job right. That's
like back in the day Harold Baynes, Paul Maller or
whatever else. Hey, can you still swing a bat?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yep?
Speaker 4 (06:37):
All right, we'll trade for you at the deadline and
get you in at d H and make some magic.
But it's just that that idea for the bills of
for Josh Allen at some point after eight years, and
you saw a little bit of it this year with
the foot injury and the myriad injuries that he's come
down the stretch with to where he was on the
(06:58):
injury report more than than I can call and does
seem limited to a degree. Now it's the old Toby
Keith line of I'm not as good as I once was,
but I can do it once right. So I can't
hit jump shots repeatedly, but every once in a while. Man,
it looks sweet and I've got the follow through and
everything else, But for Josh Allen, that's gonna become a
(07:20):
much more difficult proposition. So Kincaid and Knocks are gonna
have to be huge this time out. But you're gonna
have to retool that offensive line. You're gonna need to
look at the defense really quite a bit, because you
lost a lot of games due to injury and they
still finished upper half twenty one point five per game allowed,
but certainly not the opportunistic defense to take care of
(07:45):
Debts and Dolphins as easily as they could have. And
look at the rise up of the Patriots once again.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah, and you know, and for the Rams, it kind
of feels like they're in a holding pattern, right, Like
they've made the Rams do a great job of every
ye reloading on the fly. No one does that better.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Right.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
They're like Rambo in a movie where Magazine's empty, boom,
new One's in, Let's go. They do it great. But
this invention of the Rams is Matthew Stafford driven and
going out and getting Devonte Adams. Like the defense is good,
it's not quite what they were or they won the
Super Bowl. Look when you don't have Aaron Donald, your
defense isn't gonna be as good. But like, I feel
(08:24):
like they've been Okay, this is the team, and last
year we went into the we went into the playoffs
and boy, were this close to winning in Philadelphia. Hey,
we think we can come back next season with basically
the same team. We'll add Devonte Adams and let's go
do it. And they had a great start and they're
thinking we're gonna have playoff games at home, and they
(08:44):
get into a bit of a rut and they don't
close as great. And now they got to play in
minus thirty degree weather on Sunday against the Bears. If
they lose this game, you're gonna see big changes for
the Rams next year. And again, the Rams are used
to this, right, They're used to turning over the roster
and seeing how it goes. Are they gonna to get
by with Kien Williams and Blake Koram? Are they gonna
sit and say, yeah, another year of DeVante Adams with
(09:05):
with Puka Akua? What do they do defensively? Like they've
been kind of holding on and Stafford's the biggest thing.
Right's probably gonna win MVP he's gonna want a new contract,
and you know that Sean McVeigh came into this year
thinking this is it with Matthew Stafford, like this is it.
We're not gonna go through another offseason of I don't
know if I'm gonna play, and he wants more money,
we give it to him. You could tell, as mad
(09:26):
as he was, they don't want to do that again. Now.
Maybe if Stafford wins MVP, that becomes a different story.
But I feel like, like I said, they're in a
holding pattern with this team, and if they lose to Chicago,
another team where here's a new head coach coming in
with new talent and it's young, and they wind up winning,
the Rams are gonna have some big time turnover next
year too.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Yeah, we've watched. Certainly in the secondary, there's some work
to be done. They do have two first round picks
based on prior trades, right, We talked about that a lot,
and then Atlanta had that run down the stretch that
that changed how strong a pick it was. But you know,
the thirteenth and twenty ninth as it currently stands, and
a number of others throughout the rest of the draft,
(10:17):
so you'll be able to find some reinforcements. The Stafford
offseason was interesting, a lot of posturing and a lot
of speculation about his health. Goes in with that finger
injury this week. Are you worried about it?
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Not so much.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
But it's cold, so it might hurt a little bit more.
But with Matthew Stafford, it's the He is thirty eight
years old, and you do have to make sure you've
got the succession plan. You know, as much as I
love Jimmy g and whatever else, that's probably in the
draft plans this coming year, because you can't go through
an offseason where your your top quarterback, at least in
(10:52):
the outward and this is where we always get into
the real versus imagine. Right, we didn't get to see
him throw to the wide receivers. Don't mean they weren't
in a bubble somewhere doing it right, because the timing
still seemed to be impeccable. And that means either the
guy's a wizard or there's some extra work that we
don't know about, you know, off the books as it were,
closed practice whatever you know, where there's no cameras like
(11:15):
the weapons thing we were just talking about. But but
but for Stafford, I mean, look, father time comes for everybody,
and he's had a magnificent season and the biggest thing
is he stayed on the field. You didn't expect that.
I don't think anybody expected that. No, all the ways
to be able to do that, right.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
He really wants another contract. He really wants another contract. Yeah,
and look, I'm not wishing ill on anybody. I'm just
a realist.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
Right if if he's had these these injuries that we've had,
so many people tell us that are wrong with him,
his back and how hard back to don't get better
all of a sudden, Yeah, you could stave off elimination
one of our favorite words and sports media. Uh, but
it's it's certainly the opportunity to go back into the
(12:04):
marketplace find another guy, because I mean he's on the
books for almost fifty million dollars next year too. Right,
you're pretty top heavy with six or seven players that
eat up a lot of the cap.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
So that being said, we will pick the Rams and
the Bears game coming up later on this hour. It
is the marquee game of the week. I can't wait.
But for Buffalo Denver, we'll start here. I this is
a hard game to pick because, like I said, I
like the path that Buffalo is on. But I think
(12:38):
a lot of people are pushing the storyline over the
x's and o's and what's on the field, Like, hey,
Josh Allen's the best player left in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Percent.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
This is Josh Allen on a Bills team that's not
great against the team that, oh, by the way, we
forget because they didn't play last week. This is the
number one seed in the A. This is one of
the top three defenses in the NFL. You want to
go Houston number one hundred percent. Then you want to
argue and nitpick between the Seahawks and the and the Broncos. Look,
it's the playoff of the defense right now in the NFL. Fine,
(13:14):
but this defense, it's hard for me to see Josh
Allen coming in with even though the weather's gonna be
in clement and you think, oh, it's gonna be for
both teams and the Bills are gonna try to run
the ball. The Bills have not been able to run
the football like they should. They're very inconsistent. Some games,
James Cook looks like he's the best running back in
the game, you know, eighteen carries one hundred and forty
(13:34):
seven yards and two touchdowns, and the Bills look unstoppable.
And then some games it's wow, twelve carries for forty
one yards and they can't do anything. Like the Bills
are two inconsistent and this Denver defense at home is
too good. And in any situation where I'm gonna take
a superstar player against a team that's better, I'm gonna
(13:54):
take the team and it might not be as pretty
as you think it's gonna be, but Denver's gonna find
a way. They're gonna get points on the board. They're
playing at home, they're the better team overall. Josh Allen
isn't gonna be enough. Give me the Broncos twenty four
to seventeen. I picked him to go to the AFC
Championship Game pre season. I'm not backing away from it now. Harmon,
where are you? It's your pick? Where Harmon doesn't want
(14:16):
to make a pick, apparently doesn't want to pick, doesn't
want to pick. Oh, it's okay, it's Okay.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
Can I make his pick?
Speaker 3 (14:21):
Uh? Yeah, go ahead, Wait, Alex Tyshert, you will get
to make the pick for Mike Carmon.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Go ahead, send me up like a Mike, send me up, and.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
You gotta give me reasons, right, you gotta get reasons.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
Okay, send me up?
Speaker 3 (14:30):
All right? All right, so, ty Shirt, here's the thing, Broncos.
The defense is better. I can't see Josh Allen doing
it all by himself. Bo Nicks is going to be
able to create enough offense. They're well balanced across the field.
I'll take the Broncos in this twenty four to seventeen.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
What do you got easy?
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Now?
Speaker 6 (14:45):
I know that the defense is something you're highlighting here,
but you're forgetting one key thing, Jason, Okay, what's that?
I dislike the Broncos and like over Dislike is a
strong factor. So you want to know something crazier. Yeah,
I'm gonna let Mike finish this. Mike, go ahead, like
over dislike?
Speaker 4 (15:02):
I like that. Yeah, I've changed my mind. I'm gonna
go I'm not narrative wise, but that Nick Dermott has
enough defensively to combat Bo Nixon company. So I'll take
Buffalo to come away with a victory.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
You just wanted to say you hate you hate Denver
like Alex does well as well, just said there is there.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
Is something to that. I debated, just saying I echo
everything the congressman. From where are you from, Alex?
Speaker 5 (15:31):
I just said, I'm from California?
Speaker 3 (15:36):
So, uh, there's our bills, Broncos picks and oh, by
the way, we do have to talk to Alex Tyshirt
about it. Legitimately, we have to talk about a pick
coming up next. But we picked the next three games
in the playoff this weekend. Do we see an upset someplace?
Oh yeah, that's coming up next right here, Jason and
Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm PC on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app Fox.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Friend Mike Harmon, Well Dressed Hobo.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
Now, before we get into more of our picks for
this weekend's games, Alex tyshert, we need to talk about
something here for a second.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
Okay, let me learn the music.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
So now every year we do this at Fox Sports
rad they're gonna pull the curtain back for you.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
Here.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
There's a big sheet in our studio where everybody writes
down their picks for the year in the NFL. And
there's a place you write your name, and you write
NFC team to the Super Bowl, AFC team to the
Super Bowl, MVP bold prediction, who's the best team in
(16:46):
the regular season, worst team in the regular season? Right,
that's everybody gets to fill that out. So I filled
out yours, Alex earlier this year, and you filled it out. Yes, well, no, no,
he no, he told me, he's okay, you got to
do one. I'm gonna and I'm gonna write it. You
tell me what to write down. I'll write it down
for you. Because he's you know, he's working.
Speaker 6 (17:05):
He's wait, hold on, I didn't tell you to do
it for me. You said, can I do it for you?
And I said, yeah, go for it.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
No, I said, hey, I'm gonna do this is a
better story if I tell it.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
This, Okay, I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
So uh so, I said, okay, what do you got?
And I said, okay, who do you have? Give me
your AFC team for the Super Bowl and you said
forty nine. I said, okay. And I said, give me
your NFC team for the Super Bowl and you said Bills, yes,
And I said, okay. Uh, technically you are the only
one of only two people to have your Super Bowl
(17:36):
pick still alive, even though you have them in the
in the wrong concert. Dase, this list has like forty
names on it. Two people have their picks alive.
Speaker 5 (17:47):
You didn't one other person.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Now, but here's where I need to uh, here's where
I need to know something. So you have your Bills
forty nine Ers pick and it's still alive. It Bill's
in the NFC. But your bold prediction was Rogers takes
Steelers to the super Bowl. Yes, okay, so you picked
the Bills and the forty regardless of conference. Yes, you
did not pick the Steelers to the super Bowl. No,
(18:10):
you picked two other teams. Yes, but your bold prediction
was Rogers takes the Steelers to the super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
Yes. Do you know why?
Speaker 3 (18:17):
No, that's why I asked you want to know.
Speaker 6 (18:20):
I will clarify for you clearly why. It is because
Aaron Rodgers is a giving man. He just got remarried Mazzle.
He wants to celebrate the nuke start of the the
whole Steelers franchise because Tom and got kicked to the curb.
So now to bond the team together, he's gonna fly
them all to the super Bowl. So Rogers takes Steelers
to super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
It's true. He's gonna be He's gonna pay for to Yes, Okay, okay,
Well I couldn't have predicted that logic. I thought it was.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
I thought it was I had these two teams, and
then I had this wild card so I could still
get it. Right if my Steelers, your Steelers tie shirt
actually did make make a run to.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
The super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
You're right, But I just thought it's kind of trending.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
Everybody gets them like those new go pads or golf course,
because you know, they always get the team something. He
gets them tickets to the super Bowl. Like, you know what,
even though I couldn't get us there, I'll still get
us there.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
I thought it was to go to San Francisco.
Speaker 6 (19:16):
Also, Jason, you remember how last time I told you
about that pick I made. I wanted a segment on
the show. If those two teams go to the super Bowl,
I want to segment again.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
You get to know you will let you pick the
super Bowl Okay, you'll pick the ad percent. I'm so excited. Yeah,
absolutely so excited.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
It's called Running Up That Hill and it's got a
theme song and everything that you said of the.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
All right justice one, thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Of the forty people who picked and and and I
I didn't pick just so you know, that's why I'm
because I would obviously still be alive. Of the forty
people who picked tight Shirt and Brandon Deutsch who works
who works with you are the only ones with your
super Bowl.
Speaker 6 (19:57):
That insane, Jason, just really thinking of out of like
this proves it's just instinct over anything else. Like, don't
think about too much. Just pick and I did, right, Yeah,
what conference doesn't matter? Doesn't conference?
Speaker 3 (20:08):
Wrong conference, No, it doesn't.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
Matter very you know what.
Speaker 6 (20:11):
Maybe like when they flip a coin to see who
those first, they just decide. You know what, let's just
change conferences for both you two. Let's just get crazy.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Okay, good, yeah, yeah, you know. Whenever here, here's the thing.
Remind me when there's a new league and you know,
baseball talking about when there is a new league talking
about realignment, let me know I'm gonna get you in
the rooms. One hundred percent, Jason, he just went.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Full Joe in reservoir dogs. You don't need proof when
you got instinct. Let's I don't need.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Your data see us from opposite coasts in the same division.
We'll put New York and LA teams together in the
same division. Make them fly across country to play each other.
Speaker 6 (20:49):
All Jason's think about it. Teams always change all the time, right, Yeah? Sure,
where were the rands before the were lam?
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Okay, No, you're a Saint los Okay.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
No.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Sure, I thought you're gonna go for a frequent flyer Miles,
But I think this is.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Oh I don't like to fly him scared.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
And now he's got a twenty sided dungeons and dragons
dying to decide where which division you're in on a
year to year basis, it's not a matter of relegation,
it's the last place teams get shuffled every year.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
That'd be so cool, all right, So all alex Tysher
works on realignment for all the professional sports leagues. Uh,
we gave you our pick for the Bills Broncos earlier.
Let's give you the other Saturday game now, I would
you No, I wouldn't love to. I would love to
be able to tell you there's there's drama going on
with Sam Donald, but he's going to play there. There's
(21:36):
not this kind of gamesmanship attention to Sam Donald's oblique
injury if he was really not gonna play right that
Mike McDonald said today, Hey, we're optimistic he's going to
give it a go tomorrow and play like this is
this gives me gamesmanship. Not that you need to prepare
for Drew Locke, but you know, I mean, but this
is this is like, Hey, we're taking some of the
pressure off the team by focusing on Hey, if he's
(21:58):
out there. When he is out there, it gives us
a lift. Right. And just think if two years ago
you told me the biggest story injury wise of a
playoff is going to be if Sam Darnold's gonna play,
and if he doesn't play, it's disaster. I'd have told
you you're absolutely crazy. But this is the world we
live in. Two years later, the forty nine ers are
just too dinged up. They don't have the horses to
hang with the Seahawks in this game. Right, No, Kiddle,
(22:21):
you know what are you gonna get from Piersall, who's
questionable if he plays. Just a couple of weeks ago,
it was the Seahawks defense pinning their ears back. I
was afraid for Brock Purdy every play in the fourth quarter.
They were just teeming off on him as well as
Perdy has played, and I give him a lot of
credit because he tamped down all the talk that, hey,
(22:42):
maybe mac Jones is just as good as he is.
He's played the best stretch of football he has played
since he's been a forty nine er. They are winning
because of him the last few weeks. He's not just
been part of a big engine, right They won last
week because of him. In Philadelphia, he has been terrific.
They don't don't have what it takes to hang with
this team and this defense. Look, defense is the team
(23:03):
of the playoffs right now, and the Seahawks is one
of the top three in the league. Not that I
think the Seahawks are gonna like the world on fire,
but they're gonna be able to move the ball down
the field. San Francisco is a good ish team, you
know how much I think they're fraudulent, but I give
them credit for winning and being here right now. But
eventually the Seahawks pull away and they win this by
a couple of touchdowns. Give me Seattle twenty seven to thirteen. Tyshit,
(23:25):
you gotta let Harmon pick. I don't go on to
you can't keep turning his mic off. You gotta let
him pick.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
I'm feeling Jason, but you gotta let him pick.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Man.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
There's a lot of power behind the buttons. I know
I'm finally using it.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
All right, Harmon, what do you got in this game?
San Francisco and Seattle before we head to Sunday? What
do you have?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Well, you got Kenneth Walker over under fifty seven and
a half, Charmona forty six and a half. Those both
come in. It's a long day for San Francisco. Just
grind down the clock, Sam Donold versus brock Perdy. Who
do you believe gives you more turnover opportunities here? That
is phase number two. All in, we saw the swarming
(24:06):
Seattle defense. It's too much. I like the forty nine
ers plus the seven and a half. If you're gonna
give me the touchdown plus the hook, I'm on board there,
but I think the defense is just too much. Add
the home crowd and really you don't have a go
to and the extra blocker that was George Kittle to
free things up for Christian McCaffrey no longer there, as
(24:27):
well as all the gaudy numbers you've seen it all week.
Just the graphic after graphic of how effective Party to
Kittle was as a pitch and catch kind of duo.
That's all off the table against that Mike McDonald defense.
No thank you.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
All right, now we get to Sunday's games, and let's start,
because I know we got to lead up to the
game that's got you all sweaty, the Texans and the Patriots.
You know me, I think the Patriots are fraudulent, just
like the forty nine ers, And I would pick the
Texans in this game and the best defense in the
NFL except for one thing. One just one thing. It's
(25:05):
just one thing, really, that's it. I mean one just one,
just one thing, one thing, and and it's it's a
it's a it's a thing. It's a thing. But it's
only one thing. And if this one thing was different,
and it's my fault because if I didn't do this thing,
I would pick the Texans. However, Okay, I actually watched CJ.
Stroud play quarterback versus the Steelers, and after watching for anybody,
(25:28):
I cannot pick the Texans in this game. I mean,
as good as a defense as it is. Again, we
forget the reason why New England is where they are,
why they're why they were able to dismantle the Chargers
the way they did. They're they're a really good team.
Now are they as good as these other teams? I
don't believe so, But look your draw you have. You
(25:49):
have a Charger team that wasn't nearly as close as
we thought. Now I have a Texans team that they're
going to take advantage of all of CJ. Stroud's mistakes
because without Nico Collins, they don't have anybody offensively that
scares you. He was awful against the Pittsburgh Steelers AFU
of five fumbles and a pick. He was terrible, and
he tried to force balls other places. He missed open receivers.
(26:11):
He should have had a couple of touchdowns and he didn't.
He dead that he overthrew receivers on He's gonna try
to make it work and try to push the pace
and push the play, and he's gonna take chances because
there's no Nico Collins. This week he's officially out. He's
gonna take chances. The Patriots will capitalize on his mistakes.
They'll have some short fields. Drake May is still gonna
be able to take advantage of his decision making, which
(26:32):
is the best part of his game. And it's not
gonna be a game where hey, look at Drake May
going for three point fifty and three touchdowns against this defense.
But it's gonna be ugly. But New England, I see
a lot of field goals in this one, and they
gut out at a pretty slow moving slog fest where
a couple of short fields result in points for them,
(26:55):
and the Texans can't do anything offensively. And after this
this season ends, it's gonna be let's get back and
get some weapons now in the running game. Let's get
another wide receiver. Let's try to make it work. We're
not counting on Tank Dell coming back again, but the
Patriots are pretty good. They're at home, and unless the
Texans somehow jump out and make the Patriots play from behind,
(27:16):
like they somehow jump out to a fourteen to nothing
lead again, that could happen. But remember I watched the
j Stroud play quarterback last week. I don't see that happening.
I don't see them being able to punch the Patriots
in the face offensively. So yeah, the Pats will eventually
put their will on the game. Give me New England
nineteen thirteen.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
You know, it's one of those things we don't normally
know the name of a lot of centers around the league, right,
Kelsey got his run and some others. No, Jake Andrews
is a guy front and center after Monday night football
against the Steelers when we talk about all those snaps
and issues and at one point Stroud calling out singles
signals and looking to move a guy in motion and
(27:55):
he ended up getting a ball direct to the chest.
So clean up some of that mass. Get Woody Mark started, great,
Higgins and Hutchinson, your Iowa State guys, and Christian Kirk.
You know what Christian Kirk's over under his after last
week's explosive output.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Ooh, twenty four and a half.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Thirty eight and a half.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
So okay, all right, but you're in the.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Range of not very much. Kits Gonzalez, as Steve gave
you that update that he will be back. It's going
to require a defensive touchdown. But I don't think you're
gonna get any great shakes from the New England offense
unless they break a big one. Henderson or Stevenson out
of the backfield right that little dump off that he
(28:37):
had the big play against the Chargers. So this feels
like a nineteen sixteen kind of game, but the Patriots
do emerge victorious.
