(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greetings and welcome inside
the final hour the Jason Smith Show with my big
friend Mike Harmon. And before we get into Monday Night football,
I gotta say, Mike, now you're you're spending the week
you're in Orlando. The mobile Fox Sports Radio Studios or
(00:45):
Lando is in Orlando, and nice look at you, and
you know it's not spring training. It's not spring training.
Folks are in clear Water. A man, because of all
of this madness been uh been two years outside of
zoom calls and a lot of phone calls since I've
(01:06):
last been able to see them, lots transpired. Um, I've
gotten just so much more handsome than are you die? That?
I mean, I think I need to show that off
and and it's time and that and they need to
see the kids that I haven't completely failed to listen,
(01:27):
we don't really care about seeing you just bring the grandchildren.
That that's they don't care about. Yeah, they cared about
you until you got the grandchildren. It's like the what
it's like the movie where the bad guy needs somebody
to be the vessel to to bring about the destruction
of humanity and and the person thinks, oh, this person
(01:47):
is gonna make me their right hand and I'm gonna
rule the world with them. And in the end they just,
you know, they just cast them off at the end
once they fulfill their purpose. That's kind of you with
with the with the grandchild. Once you to need you anymore,
they didn't know well know, I mean, it's the story
of my life. Hey, I got I got what I
needed out of you, personally, professionally, whatever, see you later.
(02:07):
I mean, that's I got forty eight years of that,
So there's there's no surprise. If nothing else, you know,
over a couple of days, the meat will get me,
my brothers and I more profanity heard in a you know,
I don't even know what you call it, and over
fifty five living arrangement there, what are those salty words?
(02:28):
Coming over there. It's like, well, I'll tell you we've
started the chant of fire Naggy in our living room. Well,
that fire Naggy chant actually went viral at the United
Center earlier tonight, which we're gonna have that coming up
in a few minutes. But I do want to say,
if you get a chance, I know you're on thanks
your vacation, go see Ghostbusters Afterlife. Yeah, go go see
(02:52):
it if you could. With the sexiest man a lot.
It's such a weird movie for him to do. I'm
not gonna spoil it for you. But if you said,
I'm not gonna spoil it. But if if I said,
if someone said to you, okay, think of what you
think of how would you really think Ghostbusters After Life
(03:12):
can be? Think of how good you think it could
really be? Realistically not like I hope it's the best
movie ever done. How realistically good do you think Ghostbusters
Afterlife is? And the answer is what you think it is.
It's the movie is exactly what you hoped it would be.
It had it had enough callbacks to the to the
first one, and it was entertaining and it was fun.
(03:32):
It was an adventure, and it was it was a
good two hours to spend it the movies. Do I
get a lot of Sigourney Weaver? Uh, you do get
a little bit of Sigourney Weaver. Do you get a
little bit of Sigourny? Oh yeah, yeah, you get a
little bit of Sigourney Weaver. But it's it's like I said,
it's entertaining, it's fun. It's not gonna change your life
by any means. But you spent worse two hours in
(03:54):
a movie theater, way worse. It was fun, it was
it was interesting, and it was like I said, it
was kind of um, it was a mix between it
was like a it was it was an action movie
with a lot of comedy in it rather than just
the straight comedy that Ghostbusters was when it came out
in And I gotta be honest, if you watch Ghostbusters again,
(04:16):
it's really not that funny. The very first one, it's
really not Rick moranis is hysterically funny. The rest of
it is not as funny, and it's slow. And I
know that I'm I'm not saying this very loudly because
I feel like I'm committing heresy, but it's really not
that great a movie. It's really not that funny. Remember
the first time seeing goes, Oh, ghost isn't so funny? Billburry,
so funny? Over and over the time, go Wow, it's
(04:38):
really slow, it's really funny. I want more of Rick Moranis.
And when you didn't say that when you watch that
Ghostbusters the first time around, you did, I want more
Rick Moranis is the best part of the movie in retrospect,
you watch it again, trust me, that's the answer Rick
Moranus telling you. So, you're giving something away by throwing
it out there Rick Moranis fourteen times. No, no, no,
(04:58):
I'm just saying because I say, you do not get
Rick Moranis in uh, I was hopeful, did not get
Rick Moran's. Don't don't think it's gonna happen. I'm not
fooling it. You don't get Rick Moranis. That's for you.
That's too bad. I hope he's well, you know, and
and and being out of the spotlight and all, but uh,
all right, Ghostbusters will add it to the list because
(05:19):
you remember, like, I've got all the streaming services because
we need them for work purposes, the kids, whatever else.
So like in the last eight nine days, there's been
a lot of content put out that I'm supposed to watch.
I mean, between that and you know, the re release
of the Taylor's version of Red, I just don't have
enough bandwidth for at all. I don't remember it all
(05:43):
that well anymore. Now I remember what I heard them
re recorded again. It's fantastic. And here's your damn scarf.
Let me alone. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Garvin,
live from the Fox Sports Radio Mobile studios. But tonight
we watched the Giants lo to the Bucks thirty to ten.
And what kind of night was it for Daniel Jones. Well,
(06:05):
this is the kind of night it was. Take a
listen second down into the snap of the hurry you
want to pull it back. It's Shopton passed off of
the thirty seven yard five. Look quad, Mom says not true.
Look what I found? Breakfas up cheese says not Joe,
And that's McClendon's clenden is deflended number nineties ex jet
(06:26):
yo ex jet. But that wasn't it for Daniel Jones.
We have another one. Here's the snap of Jones looking
till the right throws a pass up field. It's stuff
like Chapton picked off of the thirty h hard Line
Bucks Radio Network on the call, Yes, former Jet Steve
McClendon defensive tackle with the interception of the first time
for day. It might have been one of the worst
(06:46):
passes I've ever seen. It was my Michael here, my
my host in in Orlando wearing his Giants gear, is
nodding his head in agreement. Yes, Yes, it was really
really bad. Uh So the Giants lose and after the game,
the normal Giants blame game happens. It's Dave Gentleman's fault.
(07:07):
What is John mara doing? It is Mike McCarthy's fault,
It's Jason Garrett's fault. Well, head coach Mike McCarthy got
a quiet or head coach Joe Judge, Sorry, not Mike McCarthy.
I switched teams there for a second, Joe Judge, because
I jumped from Jason Garrett to Mike McCarthy because I
went Cowboys. Cowboys. So, after after the game was over,
(07:27):
Joe Judge was asked about, Hey, your coaches are they
gonna be around next year? What's the status of Jason Garrett?
Will he still be euroc And here was Joe Judge's answer.
Jason Garrett and Faith and all the people on team, players,
coach everything. But you know, the Wolf says everything as
a team, make any move, we need to go forward.
(07:50):
I'm not gonna go to that right now. Whoa, whoa.
I love everybody who does that, but we're gonna get
into that and we're gonna make a decision going forward.
Oh oh yeah. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten
pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
(08:10):
the I Heart Radio app. Sounds like Jason Garrett's gonna
be the first domino to fall and big changes and
and look, you can't at this point, your offense is lost.
What are you really gonna do? What are you really
going to continue to do what you're doing and hope
for it to change. It's not. And here's a bigger
thing about the Giants, because look, if Jason Garrett gets fired,
(08:33):
Jason Garrett gets fired, the Giants still stink, right, the
offense still stinks. The Giants, even though they're terrible, hold
the key to everything this offseason in the National Football
League because you are going to get wholesale changes everywhere.
That's important. There's gonna be a new GM because Dave
Gentelman is not going to get another chance to make
(08:54):
this team. Because he went all in and told you
how great Daniel Jones is and how say Kwan Barkley
is a once in a lifetime running back. Neither of
those things happened, right, Joe Judge clearly can't win. He's
not coming back. Daniel Jones is just a guy, right,
We've seen him now, he's in the middle of year three,
and there's no reason to think suddenly he's going to
(09:15):
get it. He's like Sam Donald. He's had a couple
of flashes, but really he has gone downhill. Every year
has been a little bit worse than the previous one.
So in the off season, the Giants are gonna completely
remake their team and that's gonna be a great destination
for a lot of people. You're gonna see big names
involved in every single one of those positions. GM head coach, quarterback,
(09:38):
it's all gonna be there. After Michigan loses by fifteen
Ohio State this weekend. Jim Harbaugh's name is gonna be there.
Russell Wilson's name is gonna be there for the Giants
because we thought it could have happened a few years ago.
But look at what's going on right now in Seattle.
Right Pete Carroll left a press conference yesterday he was
so upset. Seattle is losing. Russell Wilson came back this
year to see if things were gonna change and things
(10:00):
were gonna get better. They're not. In Seattle is not
gonna make the playoffs. Russell Wilson was good early, then
he got hurt. Now he's not been able to do anything,
and he's had that itch of is the grass really
greener elsewhere? You know, he wants to go, you know,
he wants to go someplace where I can have an
imprint on the team. This is what Tom Brady did.
(10:21):
That's got Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson kind of a
little rambunctious saying, hey, I don't like having the answer
to front offices, and Russell Wilson doesn't want to answer
to Pete Carroll, even though Pete Carroll's won nothing without
Russell Wilson. So they saw Brady do it. I'm leaving
New England. I'm going to Tampa Bay and look at
it's a great world here. I'm able to speak my mind.
I'm having a great time. I've won a super Bowl.
(10:43):
They listen to me. Bruce arians is a player's head coach.
This is great. Russell Wilson is gonna be the first
guy that the Giants are gonna try to land, and
he may try to finagle his way there. Hey, this
is where I want to go. I tried it for
this year. It didn't work. Now you're gonna let me go,
and I'm gonna go to the Giants. And that's why
I I just want to go. I want to try
it because he's got another good four or five years left.
(11:04):
He's a young thirty four and he you know, he's
not had so many injuries. His style of play is
not going to suffer, and he still has a lot
of time left to be a good quarterback. The Giants
hold the key to everything because they're starting over. It's
not where well, I don't know if I want to
come in and play for this GM or this head coach.
There's a lot of uncertainty. When you can start over
(11:27):
at every single spot, that's a big deal, the big
the big three spots GM head coaching quarterback. When you
can start over there, you're gonna get so many people
that want to go because I can put my imprint
on this team. I'm not worried about coming in under
a GM that wants to do everything. I'm coming in
and I can affect the team, and I can do
it as a head coach, and I can maybe do
(11:49):
more with personnel if I want to. I'm a quarterback,
I can have the coach listen to me more then
listen to me my previous stop. This is a great situation,
and the Giants for years have always in a great situation.
I can't believe that they're there. They've been okay being
this bad for now five years. They usually have one
year and say no, we gotta turn this around. Where
the New York leeping Giants. Man, this doesn't happen. Everybody
(12:11):
be infest. It will stop the end of this year,
and you're gonna see every big name involved. The Giants
are gonna go big name hunting. They're not gonna go
in the draft for a quarterback. They just did it
with Daniel Jones. Andre not gonna risk getting it wrong again.
They'll go out and get an established star because New
York is going to be a destination. It's not the
Jets where they can't even if they got If they
get all the guys on the field at the right
(12:31):
time for the game, that's a that's a win for them. Uh,
this is the Giants and and you can bring back
the glory days they've been bad for so long. If
you just stay in the playoff hunt, if you're just
playing meaningful games in November and December and the mudd
and the snow, Hey, that's all people want. You can
succeed there. Now. They're gonna be the key to the
off season because every big name at those three positions
(12:55):
are going to be linked to every big name that's available. Quarterback,
head coach GM. Trust me, it's gonna happen. I love
your process. Fire them all. We just need to figure
out competent bodies at each of them and take a
tip from your other team. They got almost got to
you in the interview process to be the new GM
of the Mets. So when when we look at for
(13:17):
the Giants, like, unless the ownership has already hired that
search firm and started to make their shortlists of everything,
it's a problem. The other If I'm one of these
top quarterbacks, right, you're Russell Wilson's or if Aaron Rodgers
can get himself traded. I don't think it happens in
the NFC. I don't think it happens at all. But
say Pie in the sky, he does force his way
(13:38):
out New York. Uh, isn't necessarily gonna be it. What's
the discernible talent here? Well, we got these guys we
paid a lot of money for. Oh that's great. How
often have they actually been on the field together? I
don't know, thirty seven or thirty eight snaps? Yeah, no,
I think Look that the best thing Andrew Thomas did.
He caught a touchdown pass. He stay on the field.
(14:01):
Still questionable whether will ever be the blocker they wanted
to be. But he caught a pass. Oh, he caught
a pass. But not to make the point, like Michael's
looking at me and I think he wants to kill
me right now here in Orlando are resident Giants fan.
But it's just the idea of if you're gonna try
to get one of the big fish to come into
(14:23):
the massive pond um, you've got to have some talent
for him to work with. It can't be the Hey,
I'm thirty five let's start the ball rolling. Tom Brady moved.
He had a head coach he could work with. He
had a bunch of wide receivers to work with, an
offensive lines. It's like, look what we got you. We
got five guys. You're not gonna get touched. Hell, even
(14:44):
he ran, he ran for first own, even jumping pass
people like a gazelle. It wasn't touched. And then he
tried to roll out of the pocket like a series
later and he looked like he was ninety seven years old.
But that's a whole other thing. That's fine. We can
all be heroes just for one day, but you don't
go to a place if you're gonna move to where
(15:04):
you even if you don't like the front office and
green bit, you got a team that's gonna win. If
you're Russell Wilson in Seattle, it's it's a bad year.
The thing you have to have them commit to is,
can you get me a running back who isn't made
of glass and can actually stay on the fields for
us as well? Because you know what the and and
get rid of Pete Carroll. That's the other piece of this.
(15:25):
But it's the the idea that it's time right. The
sometimes the voice in the locker room needs to do.
They think Russell Wilson wants to leave for the proverbial
greener pastures. I think he just wants to, uh, you know,
plant some new seeds where he's at. Look at that
boom gardening gardening on a Monday night, early Tuesday morning.
(15:47):
You had a big floppy hat on, wearing gloves with
rubber tips on the end, spitting the seeds out. Twitter,
perfect row Twitter, and how about a fresca Mike gets
swollen down that Jason Smith through Mike Carbon Trust me,
the giants owned the key to everything and watch out
for Russell Wilson. Coming up next, Jason Lock and four

Maybe you got as play here and it ends Stanes
gets hit, the ball is loose and it's alive. Happy
(17:15):
but Fumble Anniversary the nine. It turns nine today. It's
not very special. It's just a thing, but it's the
biggest thing and it can sum up the Jets franchise
in ten seconds up. I mean it really is. Uh,
it's timeless. I mean the fact that it's nine years old.
(17:36):
I mean it's so scary. Oh the places you'll go
kind of moment to think of all the things that
have transpired since then, all the lessons learned, and the
fact that your team is still a laughing stock. Where
does time go? No, really, you might know better by
the way, So any shots, I take it the Jets.
I got people at a basketball arena doing chance about
(17:57):
firing the football coach. That's where I'm at in just sway,
if the Nicks keep losing, they'll be chatting fire solid Nicks. Dude,
I was gonna wear uh, you know, and you throw
stuff in the bags like, all right, here's what I'll
wear tomorrow as you go to the theme park. Like,
I'm not wearing any bear stuff, Kidney, I'm standing in
(18:20):
the line ride being a punching bag for a bunch
of sauce stuff folks that are salty that they spent
all their money to stand in line. No, I'm not
doing that. I'm not subjecting myself to that. What are
you insane? No, it's someone else can do that. You know,
you don't want to do that. You really don't want
to do that. And look, I I've got no fear,
(18:42):
but my my daughters always have this. He's gonna go
turbo on us at some point you start running through.
So let's not do this Jason Smith show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. So yeah, you got fans chanting fire, nag,
they're chatting fired, Daniel Jones or to kind of feel
they are, uh tonight. In the post game, head coach
(19:04):
Joe Judge was asked about the fates of Jason Garrett
and the rest of the coaching staff. Is Jason still
going to be the coach? And he said, you know,
I love all the gut coaches, but we're gonna make
the decisions as we go forward. Yeah, So that means
Jason Garrett don't get used to having a job for
much longer. Uh. Clearly Joe Judge knows. Hey, I gotta
(19:25):
do something if I want to be a head coach
in the NFL next year, and we have to turn
this thing around. So we're just going down the road
of all of us getting fired. So if I have
to replace somebody, maybe we catch fire. I can stay
and be the coach next year. Here's the thing not happening.
Everybody's out new GM, new head coach, new quarterback, knew everything.
The Giants are gonna have all things brand new. It'll
(19:47):
be Lincoln Riley coaching, Russell Wilson. It's gonna be a
fantastic time in New York it's gonna work out for them.
They hold the keys to the off season. Why is
Lincoln Riley leaving? I know you like to throw up
some of these big names and get people excited. Maybe
they'll photo shop a couple of these guys into proper
(20:08):
you know, sweater vests or whatever to make you feel
good about yourself. But I don't know that I even
even with that giant market place, I don't know that
I want any part of it right. It's why do
we always ask the Bears. You think they would be
able to overpay and get a bunch of wide receivers.
You know what nobody wants to play there. Field is trash.
(20:32):
You're gonna be in l but they'll actually the land
and they won't be able to have a bunch of
high school football games and soccer games twelve hours before
a Bears home game. It'll be glorious. Listen, the A
Y S O Under fourteen semifinals are gonna be playing
at Soldier Field. Then we got that quick turnaround, so parents,
if you could leave the game fast, leave the sideline
(20:54):
fast so we can get it ready for the Bear. Yeah, look,
you joke, it ain't far off. Man and ain't far off?
What do you have? What? We had a concert, We
had a soccer game on Saturday afternoon, and then we
had the I h s A regionals, you know, and
the Northern Suburbs came out here and they played. No,
it's it's the for the giants. I mean, there's just
(21:16):
a lot that needs to be done, and and it's
always you go back to the ownership and and really
where they're at and what they want and are they
just content cashing a check at this point? Because sometimes
I wonder what some of these the ownership groups like.
You realize what you're doing isn't working yet. All you
(21:37):
do it's like building a website on bad architecture and
expecting at some point those bugs to fix themselves. They don't. Yeah,
good luck with that. So let's see how that works.
So let's add more code. Hey we added more levels.
That's great. The base one doesn't work, so it all crashes.
So what the hell's the difference? Twitter and out about
(22:01):
a fresco mikeets swollen to him the Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike carbon So we got fire
neegg you, We've got Daniel Jones and watch it's gonna
be case Keenum at quarterback for the Browns this week.
Are you just trying to get to this plea for
him to tell you, you know, like you're a boober,
(22:23):
like a fan. Today he took on the fan base,
which you never do, and that's that's the quickest way
to find yourself out of favor. He's dinged up and
he's not playing well, and the Browns know they need
to change, and their change will come under the guys of, hey,
Baker's really hurt, We're gonna give him some time out,
even though Baker's well enough to play. It will be
(22:45):
under the guys of we don't want to have this
become something where suddenly Baker Mayfield's lost his job and
engulfs the team. But under the guys of Baker's dinged up,
we're gonna need to hold them out. They're gonna give
case Keenum a chance, and if case Keenum plays well,
he keeps the job. It's that simple because they know
after this Sunday, Okay, we barely beat the bleeping Lions. Man,
We're not going to go out there and beat the Ravens.
(23:05):
With Lamar Jackson back next week. Not happening. Not on
national television. We gotta do something. We need a spark.
They will go to case Keenom for this week, and
it's gonna be under that guy's As we heard them
say in Oceans eleven, we're in a tight spot. That's
kind of where you're at right now. And I think
Baker is too hurt to play. Unfortunately, once you go
after the fans can't play that card. Now. I gotta
(23:28):
go on tough and out again. And t J, just
like they said in Oceans eleven, do you think they
need another guy? The other guy will beat Case Keenom.
T J. Ben Maller is next Fox
