Speaker 1 (00:01):
You want experience during your football season, Well, buckle up,
sweet cheeks. We've got all the experience in the world.
This is I Want your Flex with Dan Bayer and
Mike Harmon. Mike and Dan break down everything you need
to set your lineups, from position rankings to starts and sins.

(00:24):
The guys help you make those hard decisions. And now
let's catch your flex on. Here's Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon, well.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Committed as I want your flex. I'm Dan Byer. He
is Mike Harmon talking about all the big injuries, and
there were big ones Mike in week seven. I and
Roddy is our executive producer. He is hanging out as well.
I don't know how to rank them in terms of
what we have, but I can rank them in terms
of severity. So you have Deshaun Watson done for the

(00:53):
season in Cleveland. There wasn't much fantasy value there anyway,
Brandon Aiyuk done for the season. For the forty nine,
there's a completely different story. And though in our last
episode you talked about Wayver wire in guys that you
may need to pick up. I'm really curious to see
on how all this shakes out for the forty nine
ers who just can't seem to catch a break so

(01:14):
far the season when it comes to injuries.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Yeah, I mean a full tumultuous off season, all the
question marks of what they were going to do with
contracts ultimately getting them done, you know, like Dallas did.
And guess what Both teams are in disarray, right Cowboys
coming out of their bye week, forty nine ers. Everybody's hurt, sick,
getting thrown out for fighting, you name it. You have

(01:37):
Brock Purty needing to get a talking to in the
locker room from Shanahan. Whatever was truth? What perception becomes
reality in all of this. And for Brandon Ayuk zero touchdowns,
only one game this season did he eclipse fifty receiving yards,

(01:57):
and that was the narrow loss to Arizona. Otherwise he'd
been a virtual non factor, finishing outside of the top
forty five in all but that week.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Did I tell you Mike that I did a one
eighty during my Sunday show. I completely changed my opinion
on Brandon Nyuka. And the whole point was the one
eighty that I did was because Ayuk and Party weren't
on the same page again in that game, against Kansas City,
and then when I does catch a pass, what do

(02:29):
you know? He tears ligaments in his knee and is
done for the season. But because of that injury, I
was critical of Ayu community. This is what happens. You're
you're rusty, you didn't have those reps. This is what
you get with the hold in. Should have been in camp,
should have been doing those things. And I did the
one eighty as soon as he got hurt, because that
is the reason why you do the hold in. You

(02:51):
do that because you don't want to be playing on
your final season on a rookie on a one year
deal and entering free agency, because if you get hurt,
what sort of guaranteed do you have? And I know
that you wanted out and this and that, but this
is this is the reason why you have hold in.
So I completely did a one point eighty four Brandon
Ayuk because he needed that security. You look at someone

(03:14):
like Chris Godwin, who got hurt Monday night for the Buccaneers.
Godwin's going to be a free agent as well. YEP,
not to say that his is less important, but Chris
Godwin is also wrapping up a sixty million dollar contract
that he's had over the last three years. So Chris
Godwin has gotten paid. There's awful injury. Stinks that he's
gotten it, and I wish him nothing but the best.

(03:36):
But for someone like Ayuk who's still on that rookie deal,
if you will to try to get that guaranteed, to
try to get that money guaranteed for you for the
long term and not entering that that season. Imagine if
he didn't have that contract and then played and now
he's got to enter free agency coming off of a
torn ACL and MCL and possibly other stuff. Yeah, catastrophic, No,

(03:56):
And that's it, right.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
It's tough, right, we're always from our bully pulp. It's
on radio, television wherever. It's like trying to get into
everybody's heads, recognize their situations and trying to figure out
where you fit in terms of the argument right of
it because it's other people's money, other people's lives, all

(04:18):
that thing, and with Ayuk and the hold ins versus
holdouts and everything else. In the end, I can't begrudge
anybody if they think that's the strategy towards getting their
contract right. Teammates are going to understand they may not
like it, but they're gonna understand it because they may
be in the same position at some point. Coaching staff

(04:39):
obviously they want everybody to signed in and be done
with it so they can just pencil people in and
move on. But yeah, it's like it's the growth of
the league and the changing dynamic of the contracts. Also
is an adjustment that everybody's got to go through, dan
because more money guaranteed front not to where you're getting

(05:02):
into those Deshaun Watson numbers with a lot of these guys,
but you know, the team taking on a bigger chunk
and a bigger risk than they used to. Right, signing
bonuses were less and be like all right, yeah, you
get it over the four years. Well you don't really
ever see year three or four and a lot of
those deals so they were all right and they'd make
out in the end. And now the pendulum swung at

(05:24):
least towards the middle, and for guys like Ayuk, can't
blame them. Now, do you wonder how much of that
affected his off season training and readiness to get on
a field. That's a whole other question to be asked,
and only the athletes themselves can tell you. A true
answer under duress, under the bright lights of an NYPD

(05:44):
blue situation with a lie detector attached.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
The diving in and finding out the forty nives are
gonna have to dive in and find out a replacement
because it is not going to be the easiest to
replace someone like that. In fact, when you could miss
the game last year, I remember this, I picked up
Juwan Jennings. Juwan Jennings has filled in admirably when Deebo

(06:09):
Samuel has been out and this season, but last year
when he when Ayuk was out, Jawan Jennings did not
pick up that slack in that scenario. It's actually Diebo
that did. Now, Deebo's dealing with his own issues with
pneumonia like symptoms according to to Kyle Shanahan earlier this week,
so his status is also up in the air. But

(06:30):
Jennings has dinged up himself, So that just gets thinner
and thinner and thinner. But I just I don't see
a natural replacement unless it is someone like Ricky Piersall,
who you mentioned in the waiver wire pickups. It's gonna
be it's gonna have to be a usual suspects taking
on more of a role like Deebo Samuel.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Yeah, it's either that or you know, the how much
do you have left under the cap on the cheap
that you can go and make a deal. I mean,
the trade deadline is going to be really interesting, not
just for Fantasy Owned doing your things in your league
and trying to convince somebody to part with some of
the art of the deal in a future podcast, but

(07:09):
I mean, you're looking at Tampa Bay with the injuries,
Kansas City, I think we can all agree, as good
as they are, probably should bolster the receiving corps question mark.
Now the forty nine ers with their questions, the Chargers
definitely need somebody, whether it's a reunion with Mike Williams,
they need someone to be a force in the red zone,

(07:31):
downfield whatever. Pittsburgh may still need another one, like just
go on down down the line with you know would
be contenders and whether they're set at the position argue that.
You know, we saw the Adams and Cooper Domino's fall,
but plenty of other teams that are still gonna need help.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah. By the way of Ari Cooper, four catcher sixty
six yards a touchdown in his Buffalo debut without even
really knowing the place.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Yeah, I mean what they showed the video, he was
being told what rout he should run.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
But hey, whatever, whatever works. The situation in Seattle is
unique because DK Metcalf has a Grade one sprain. And
the reason we can make the transition is because the
Seahawks host Buffalo coming up in Week eight. DK situation
considered week to week. They don't think it's serious. However,
the Seahawks have a two game stretch before their bye week,

(08:22):
and you wonder if maybe they'll look at that and say,
all right, this is how we're gonna play it. We'll
just make sure that he's safe and he's fully recovered,
and then we'll come back and we'll have DK Metcalf
back in a couple of weeks. If that is the case,
I expect a heck of a lot more Tyler Lockett,
and there's there's just for reliability wise. He is a

(08:43):
guy that Gino Smith trusts. I love JSN and JSN
has been great this season. But you're coming off of
a game where he had three catches for nine yards,
and when you're looking for the reliable catch and not
that Jackson Smith and Jigbus should wear this forever. But
he took the drop against the Giants and there in
their game that could have given on a first down

(09:04):
as they were trying to drive for the go ahead touchdown.
Took that pretty hard. We've seen Tyler Lockett time and
again make the big catches for Seattle. So if DK
misses anytime, Tyler Lockett's stature really jumps up.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
No question about it. You just go down the list
of injuries. Though. Dan just an amazing array. We talk
about Evans and Godwin in Tampa, you got Jade and
Daniels big matchup against the Bears. Defense might have been
on the back end of the ones or maybe in
a cold soar situation. We'll wait and see. He was
determined to be weak to weak, but Marcus Mariota suddenly

(09:38):
pops in and offense is still moving, still humming along,
so curiosity there. You've got O'Connell goes to the ir Yes,
the Raiders, but they're still one of thirty two. So
we're still trying to find something. Because someone's got to
throw the ball to Rockers, right, I mean, that's pretty

(09:59):
much at this point, So you got that going on.
It's just you know, we've hit that point in the
year with attrition. Fortunately, unfortunately we talked about the bye
weeks a little bit in terms of not having them
this week. There's a little bit of a blessing with
all the injuries. You should at least have some options

(10:20):
to go find some help.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
By the way, we joke about brock Bauers yet fourteen targets.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Oh, he's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Yeah. In that game against the Rams, trade Tucker had eight,
DJ Turner had seven, but Bowers ten catches ninety three yards.
The next most effective was Tucker three catches for thirty three.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
He has sixty targets this year. That ties him for
fifth No. Sixth in the league with Malik Neighbors, who
by the way, missed two games, and Bowers has fifteen
more targets than the next tight end.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
I'll I'll say this. It obviously wasn't a reach because
of how Brock Bowers was viewed in the draft, but
we didn't think it was necessarily a position of need.
Imagine if they didn't have him, like, who in the
heck would you be throwing to now? With Devonte Adams
out of town.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Adam's gone, Myers has miss time. Hopefully Michael Mayer is okay, Yeah,
he's away from the team. All of that to say,
you've got basically brock Bowers against the world. So it's
the pitch and catch time and time again. But yeah,
just a weird convergence of circumstance, there's no question about it.
And then you have the New Orleans Saints make a

(11:39):
move and bring in MVS.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Yeah, you can roll the dice ahead because no.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
No, but it's just from a.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Scamlet.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
But again it goes back to who's available. Sure, right
in terms of for the team from a fantasy angle,
I'll find a more efficient, consistent off It's no question
about it, be a Derek Carr or Spencer Rattler or
whoever else. It's more just a all right, news and notes
of stuff that's happening. Chris Alave may not be walking
back through that door, we know with the concussion, Shaheed's not. Yeah,

(12:14):
you got Alvin Kamara, who really protested his potential desire
to be traded maybe a little more than you should,
even invoking former teammate Michael Thomas in the discussion. So
you got that. But outside of whether if a Lave
doesn't play receiving wise, someone's got to step up. Hey,

(12:36):
new guy run deep.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Well, I'll tell you what. Maybe Michael Thomas will find
work so.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Could bring him back. Yeah, why not.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Absolutely. He is Mike Carmen and I'm Dan byer Ian
Roddy's our executive producer. It is I want your Flax
tu is going to be back. We don't know when,
but it could be as soon as this Sunday. What
are the ramifications for that in Miami? Plus other news
that's happened in the NFL will dive into it next year.
And I Want Your FLEs two is going to be back,

(13:08):
and so are we. He's Mike Carmen, I'm Dan pyre
Ian Roddy is here. It is I want your Flags
to His practice window has been opened for the Miami Dolphins,
so he could be back as soon as well, any
point in the next twenty one days, but it could
be as soon as this Sunday as the Dolphins take
on the Arizona Cardinals. It would be a much needed

(13:28):
lift for so many in fantasy football too. We're to
see the field.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
No, and that's it right. A lot of hand ringing
has already begne. What is he doing. Look if he
got cleared and he's ready to go and he's excited
about it, who am I to have ripped the jersey
off him? It's a grown ass man. It's an informed decision.
And certainly for those with Tyreek Hill, go back and
look at his stats, Jayleen Waddall, look at his stats.
Look at eight Chan facing the pressure he is up front,

(13:57):
not really being able to find room to run. Yeah,
Tua makes this offense work. So we talked about them
on the waiver wire piece and certainly coming up here
if they're gonna make any kind of move whatsoever and
become a functional offense. Currently sitting at what two and
four bye week? Already in the rearview mirror. You got

(14:18):
Arizona at home in week eight, followed by a road
trip to Buffalo for a divisional battle at the beleaguered Rams.
It's so fi Monday, it's a Monday night affair, and
then a game against the Raiders. Man, three of those
are winnable. I don't know about the Bills, but Tua
back under center, anything's possible, right, Mike McDaniel doesn't get

(14:40):
to be the wizard behind the curtain with any other quarterback.
It seems so the opportunity to spring these guys lose,
not only for your fantasy squads, but also just to
NFL overall, absolutely huge.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Here, I'm laughing to myself because I thought of a
joke in my head. The bad news. Bad news for
John news Smith owners, because he was the one that
nicely done seven catches ninety six yards and a touchdown.
Alec Ingeld was the next highest receiver against the Colts.

(15:12):
One catch twenty five yards. Waddle had is one catch
for eleven yards. Tyreek Hill one for eight each. Two
of eight pack.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Yeah, John Nu Smith two of the last. They had
the bye week sandwich between an eight target game and
a seven target game.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Now and Nomy's heard, so Boil comes in. It's just
tough times with the Dolphins, but everybody gets a booth
boost eight chan as well. Where heee moster it should
be back healthy. It still seems from from the looks
of it, I'll tell you when you see what they
did against the Colts, maybe more of a split than

(15:48):
we thought I thought. Maybe most may have lost his
his spot in the in the running. Maybe a little
bit more Jalen Wright than we had anticipated. But eleven
carries against the Colts, says other wise, but obviously a
boost with with to a tug of by low up
possibly coming back with.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Yeah, some of it, Dan, I think is just you're
trying to find anything, any kind of lightning in the bottle,
uh that you can. So the mix and match of
running backs with the quarterback position. It's your probably your
last week to go try to low ball Tyreek Hill
and Jalen Wattle owners because I don't. I mean, it's

(16:27):
curious to me if it's to a plays this week,
I mean telling me interesting, how much more interesting does
that game get? Obviously Arizona coming off a huge Monday
night win over the Chargers, but just from a you know,
ratchet things up immediately, like see if they just come

(16:47):
out throwing for the downs right off the jump.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Are you concerned about CJ. Stroud at all?

Speaker 3 (16:53):
Yes, I never thought the offensive line was very good
coming into the year. Joe Mixon helps somewhat to mitigate
that as a receiver out of the backfield, but yeah,
it doesn't look like the timing's really been there this year.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
What's so unique about this lack of connection with Tank
Dell is these two have actually been tied together since
the pre draft process. They hit it off. During that point,
Stroud was taken by the Texans. Dell obviously went to
the University of Houston. It's not obvious, but he went
to the University of Houston, so you think there's kind
of a fit. But Stroud said, yeah, go draft Tank Dell.

(17:35):
I want Tank Dell. So they drafted Tank Dell, and
Tank Dell was great up until he what broke his
ankle last year whatever. I can't remember the execut injury
off hand, but when he missed the final quarter of
the season, so you bring in Stefan Diggs, Dell takes
a step back, and now you don't have Nico Collins
and Dell isn't back up into that spot. So it's

(17:56):
very it's very odd. And even last year year with
Stroud specifically, there was the game that he was knocked out.
I think I think it was against the Jets. I
believe it was because I thought it was at MetLife Stadium.
There really wasn't an off game for him. And now
we've had a couple of those, like you know in
the Bears game, you know, Bears got after him, you know,
really good defense in Chicago. You know that, Mic, But

(18:19):
in this scenario with Green Bay to have just such
an awful game and Packers almost gave it away. But yeah,
I'm concerned their schedule playing in the AFC South sure helps,
but when you have matchups with the Chiefs and Ravens
later on in the season, I hope CJ. Stroud can
rise to the occasion.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Just going back, I mean go back to the season
opener against the Colts, that was a very uneven for me. Yeah,
he finished twenty four thirty two, but in two touchdowns
to thirty four, but it wasn't as clean. Four sacks
under duress, a bunch the Bears game, they get the W,
but again erradic at times, big blowout loss to the

(18:59):
to the Vikings. Fine, should have lost the game at Jacksonville.
They gave that game away three forty five and two.
Like cosmetically, it looks good, but the eye test has
been lacking. And to your point, the lack of connection
with Tank Dell is concerning because you thought with Nico Collins,
who at the time he left right with the injury.

(19:21):
I mean, you're talking about a guy who is one
of the top two or three leaders in terms of targets,
and I know Dig shows up, but that you'd think
that that distribution would find a little more in the
UH tank. Dell well, but it hasn't.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
No, just completely off the mark. They it's it's weird
because it's their connection is the whole reason why it's worked.
And Dell was a surprise last year and it just
hasn't worked this year. How does it work with the
commanders that they don't have Jaden Daniels. We downgrading everyone,
including zach Ertz, maybe not zach Kertz.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
Zach Ertz, I think is the one guy that probably
gets to stay in a very uneven I mean, look
at the tight end position. What a disaster it's been
trying to pick week to week. But when you when
you look at it from a receiver standpoint, I mean,
we've been running, running hard with McLaren, but all of

(20:18):
a sudden that starts to bounce down a bit, right,
and certainly, what's he he going to be a mid
two late two? And I think right now the optimism
is that you know, you get enough flack jacket and
everything else that Daniels plays, but it certainly not the
best matchup and if he's not right. I wouldn't sacrifice

(20:42):
potentially my season to put him out there against the
Bears defense that's been very aggressive and good at getting
after the quarterbacks. So and it's coming off of bye
week two, so everybody's tuned up and healthy and ready
to go. So yeah, I think everybody gets a downgrade
except for Ertz maybe a little bit more out of
the backfield. In terms of the passing game, Robinson a

(21:04):
little bit of a downgrade, maybe a little bit of
a bump to Austin Eckler find some kind of happy
medium there where he's flexworthy. But for the receiving corps, yeah,
I can't. I can't put a lot of stock that
if Mariota's got to go, that the offense is anywhere
close to what it's been with Daniels.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
By the way, this game should have been in about
week four of the NFL season, Like we needed to
see Williams against Daniels, and you put it on Thursday
Night football, You make it great. You highlight that it's
one versus two, this is the risk that you run.
And again there's guys could be injured in Week three.
I get the whole deal, but just man what bad

(21:46):
luck to have the injury come up in week seven
prior to that game. I know it's bigger fish to
fry for the Commanders. Yeah, this could be a wild
card seating game for who knows how things play out.
But still just to not have one versus two stinks.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
I mean it one that people have kind of been
pointing to. Obviously, a lot of hot air has been expended,
a lot of column inches of the well maybe the
Bears regret not taking Danny, Like, come on, people, I
get it. We like hot take nonsense.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Yes, I like the.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Screaming and yelling that folks do. But sometimes you're just reaching.
Yeah right, it's like all of the big thought pieces
on the baseball side. Oh here we go again when
the Dodgers were down to the Podgers, Like, okay, yeah,
you got to publish your article again that you wrote
last year.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Well, I still think that the Trailblazers were right and
taking Greg Odin.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
See there you go, you know, like like it was
like at the time, Yes.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Yeah, it's like it's it didn't work out. Kevin Durant
became Kevin Durant. Odin's career derailed by the injuries, but
at that time, it was a no brainer and maybe
maybe history will tell us differently, who knows. But the Bears.
The Bears were going to make that pick no matter what.

(23:08):
So if they weren't, yeah, they weren't going to draft
a quarterback. So yeah, I agree. Just too bad we
didn't see it. By the way, just to to what
to your appetite for week Week eight, that Monday night
game between the Giants and Steelers over under thirty six
and a half?

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Oh boy?

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (23:30):
How many? How many do we get under the benchmark
of forty this week? Because we've been getting three or four?

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Yeah, it's the only one. In fact, we don't have
seints Chargers on the board yet at the time of
this podcast. That could be one, but yeah, we've got
it's the doozy. The highest line right now is Packers
Jaguars forty nine and a half.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
Okay, interesting, Yes, yes, game in Jacksonville. Finally back after
the long sojourn and the Doug Peterson I may have
saved my job for the rest of the year. I'll
effort the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
I'll give you a quick little story about a Packers
Jaguars game in Jacksonville. The Green Bay Packers were actually
the last team in the NFL to go and play
in London. And the reason a couple of reasons why,
but one of the reasons as well is they were

(24:28):
actually a candidate to go and play the Jaguars in London,
but because the Packer fans, you know, traveler, they're everywhere,
the Jaguars didn't want to lose that gate for the
game in Jacksonville. So yeah, so this was like, this
was a nominee, which I don't know if would would
have been you know, eight years ago when the cycle
came through, but green Bay was thought of as possibly

(24:51):
a candidate to go to London. But the Jaguars were
selling way more seats when the Packers were coming to
town than they were with the other teams, and they
didn't want to that. They didn't want to miss out
on that one. So that's what it took the NFL
a while. They finally did, you know, a couple of
years ago against the Giants, and I can't remember they've
been back again, but yeah, green Bay was the last
team to finally go over and play in London.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
Well it's why you don't see the Steelers travel right now.
The idea that they'd be one of the teams that
would immediately go to to Ireland as they expand the
global reach or whatever. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. But
same thing, all right, Packers and the Steelers the best
traveling Guess which super Bowl I had to pay for

(25:34):
because I made a promise. That's Dallas, Pittsburgh and Green Bay.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Let's go, oh man.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
At Jerry's palace. I think I'm still playing that often.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
At least you had a seat in that super Bowl,
because there are people that thought they did and then
they didn't.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Oh, I paid extra for the for the privilege of
a none hastily put together seat.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
If you don't know this story. So the whole thing
that Jerry wanted, Jerry Jones in the NFL wanted over
one hundred thousand people at AT and T Stadium, So
they built this temporary seating in spots where there isn't
normal seating. Obviously, because it's temporary, it did not pass code,
so they couldn't have people sit in those seats for

(26:21):
the game. It was crazy, like.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Did they take the seats away or was it just
empty seats?

Speaker 2 (26:25):
They're just empty seats.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
They just had to leave them empty.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Yeah, yeah, because there's nothing they could do, but that
was their goal to jam so many people in, and
yeah it was.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
So that morning was funny. Right, I'm doing the show
with Nate and Peter at the time, and we're in Dallas.
I'm sitting at a desk that had three monitors, so
I'm logged into three different ticketing services, and everything that's
coming up are those hastily put together sections. Not that
I knew that was going to be a problem, Like
those are just not good seats. Like I promised my

(26:58):
then father in law. I'm like, hey, to take you
to this game when it's in Dallas, and you know
I was gonna make good on it. And then finally
a pair showed up, and I couldn't hit submit fast
enough and they ended up being for the same price
as these other seats. They ended up being like forty
five yard line seats in the middle of a Steelers
family section. So I ended up sitting with no again.

(27:23):
I paid a lot of money, like we're talking crazy
ass by yourself a used car kind of money for
a good used car at that, but it was the
I made a promise I had to keep it. But
I had done my training camp tour because when I
lived on the East Coast, I used to do the
day trips and I went to Latrobe a couple of times.

(27:44):
So family members that I'd met at one of those
practices are like, hey, you're the guy that was playing
catch with my grand kid. It's like, yeah, like this
is cool. So I got some street cred with the
then father in law. We had a great time at
Jerry's palace. May have been a little bit drung, but it.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
Was fun so too. I just brought it. I brought
up the game. So this is what happened. So also
that week again second biggest star of that week because
there was an ice storm that hit down.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Oh yeah, there lost a cameraman.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
One two hundred and fifty temporary seats that weren't ready
in time because the fire Marshal couldn't inspect them. So
these fans who actually had tickets showed up in eight it'
said eight hundred and fifty fans in four sections were relocated,
but four hundred fans were given refunds of three times

(28:38):
their ticket of what was on the ticket for face value.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
Not a bad deal. You get three times your money back.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Sure, it's just crazy though, well.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
But if you had to travel there and whatever else, like,
I don't think there was ever compensation, yeah, or for
the accommodations travel, et cetera. Because with the ice storm
you had folks that were sitting long delays in airports
trying to get into Dallas.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
So well, the the the plaintiffs apparently after court case
and blah blah blah, the people who actually sued were
awarded between fifty six hundred and twenty two thousand dollars
depending on the value of those takes about that. So, yes,
that's that's crazy.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
I just remember day one we had I was doing
stuff for Fox sports dot com and we had this
whole itinerary and they had a cameraman assigned to me.
He slipped and was basically bedridden the rest of the weeks.
So everything that we had planned of me going to
these different honky tonks and whatever else was gone. O. Man, like,
we don't have the cameraman for you anymore. I'm like,

(29:43):
I can shoot out my phone. I'm like, they're not
gonna do anything with your fu's damn it.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
Oh by the way, thanks to Wikipedia for that that
trip down memory lane. Boom. I knew something didn't match code.
Now the ice storm and obviously remember that. But of
those getting together, Jones has had a tough couple of weeks,
so I don't want to pile on. But they were
trying to pile as many people into that stadium as
they could to set the record, So that was part

(30:08):
of the story. But four hundred people were not able
to find other seats. Hey, kudos to them for finding
eight hundred.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Others, right, jeez, that's a lot of people to find
seats for fold up chairs in the aisles. You're gonna
stand here with a well, you're going to sell popcorn.
You're not really selling it, but here stand here like
a vendor.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
I'll tell you a quick story. The first Super Bowl
I got to cover was the Seahawks Steelers in Detroit.
So super, super lucky that the team that I had
cheer for my entire life ends up making it to
their first Super Bowl and getting to go. We get
our game credentials, and there was some mix up or

(30:57):
something along the way. We only had credentials for postgame
access and you had to sit in the media room.
But the Super Bowl that year, the media room was
actually inside the stadium. Other years it's it's outside in
a different tent now because the footprint is so large,
But nineteen twenty years ago they actually were able to

(31:20):
put it in Ford Field, and I'm like sitting there
and I'm like, i am so close to seeing my
team play that it's literally just out in the concourse.
I didn't have a seat, couldn't get to the media seating,
so I sat behind the guys who ran the halftime
show mixer thing in the corner with the sound and

(31:41):
basically just looked over them stood for the entire game
because I didn't have a media seat. It was first level.
It was great. But yeah, that was my seating escapade
when it came to the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
But always a little bit. It's a lot of fun.
It's a good show.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
Absolutely, So all right there it is tripped down memory Lane.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
I think we're good. We're ready for Week eight. Let's go, yes,
go win those free agent acquisition bidding wars because it's
going to be crazy guillotine leagues and everything else. It's
the wild West now.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
And if you're two and five in your league, don't worry.
There's still time to make up grounds. You could turn
things around. So for Ian Roddy and Mike Carmen, I'm
