(00:25):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Yo. Welcome into The
Odd Couple, Rob Parker along with Ryan Hollands, the former
NBA or filling in for mister Chris Brussard, and we're

(00:49):
coming to your live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
We sure will Bill and today Ryan Hollins is an
all black TV theme song Thursday Drinker. Yes it is racist,
but we're going with it anyway. We will play your

(01:11):
favorite black TV show theme song throughout the program. What
a show we have for you today, so much good stuff.
Of course, NBA in full throttle. Big night for the Lakers.
Are they eliminated? Are they knocked out of the playoffs
in the first round? First time for Lebron James. We'll
get to that and much more. We got a little

(01:33):
trolling or rolling with Martin Weiss that's coming up in
about thirty minutes. There's also a Antonio Daniels will stop
by in the second hour talk more hoops with him
and Richard Phillips, basketball analyst. He'll join us in the
third hour, so we're filled with basketball. Also this talk

(01:53):
about the USFL coming back being relaunched in twenty twenty two.
But first let me woke him in. Mister Ryan Hollins
my partner today. What's up, Ryan? What's going on? Right? Well?
What's up? Man? It's been it's been a minute, Rob,
but I feel like I just saw you. I know.
We were on locally in Los Angeles today on Rogan

(02:13):
and Rodney AM five seventy cutting it up. But that
wasn't enough time. We need three hours. So are you
ready for that? Yeah? Man, I've been I've been waiting
for this, Rob. It's been it's been too long, Rob,
way too long. Yes, we will definitely do that, a
lot of stuff to talk about, but first let's welcome
in the Odd couple crew. We wouldn't be able to
do this fine radio program without them. Rob g is

(02:36):
our able body producer. That's right. Also, Alex engineer. Alex
is a worker like me, always grinding and then eating
seaweed later after that. But he's always everybody that's right.
And mister David Gascon is at the anchor desk. He'll
keep us updated throughout the program. But Ryan real quick,

(02:59):
and it is a TV theme. So on Thursday and
we're playing all black TV shows, what was your favorite
Black TV show growing up or period. I'm gonna age myself,
date myself right here. I'm fresh Prince, I'm Martin Lawrence
show Man. That's me. That's what I grew up to,
rob and nothing wrong with that. I love that. Those

(03:19):
were great shows, no doubt. I'm a little bit like
the Jefferson, Sanford and Son good times. You know those
shows you saw him reruns, right, absolutely, absolutely no doubt.
All right, let's go before we get into the Lakers,
let's talk last night. Clippers had a chance to, you know,
take an upper hand. We thought the series had turned
around the two big wins in Dallas. But that guy Luca,

(03:42):
I know, he took eighty shots, but he scored forty
two boys, I mean he missed twenty shots. He couldn't
hit anything in the fourth quarters. Very weird game, but
enough to get them to w and Dallas is up
three to two going back to Dallas, So we'll see
how that series winds up. But everybody he's raving about
Luca and how well he's played Ryan against the Clippers,

(04:06):
and you know, you gotta hear Larry Bird and the comparisons,
which I think are all premature. Yes, he's a white
guy who's not that athletic, but yet he can dictate
a game and facilitate and hold onto the ball and
you know, and help his teammates and make them get
better shots and all that good stuff. And he's a

(04:27):
fine young player. But can he win a playoff series? First?
Can his team that was almost in the playing game?
I mean, he's so great that he was almost in
the playing game from the regular season. And all I'm
saying is, pumped the brakes before you're ready to crown Luca.
They still might lose this series, and then what would

(04:49):
you say they lost last year in six games to
the Clippers. Are people going overboard with the Luca mania
because I'm not one of these prison of the moment.
He had a big night, they won the game, They
have a three to two series lead. But but I think,
you know, calling him Larry Bird and stuff like that,

(05:10):
is just way too premature, Ryan, Rob, there's nothing that
is over the top when you want to crown Luca
doanges Now, I hear you. Here's the reality. He hasn't
been out of the first round, thank you, and didn't
want a series. Yo, he's got problems with his weight
and he'll come into the season Chubby Okay, I get that. Okay,
And you're probably concerned with the knick knack injuries. Okay,

(05:33):
does he run out of gas too much? But ultimately
from Lucas skill set, it's something that we only compare
to Lebron, to Magic, to Larry Legend. He's got the
P word, Rob. And I'm not talking about the clubs
you're going to. I'm talking about that Monday. He's got it, Rob.

(05:57):
So when you look at Luca, I got no problem
and you you kind of like, I don't like how
you just he controls the game. How many players control
the game? Lebron, James Harden in the regular season, got
to see it in the post season, Steph Curry, players
that control the game. We're talking generational talents, Rob, So

(06:22):
you can't tell me that you don't see potential all
over Luca And the only questions are we gonna have
to ask is how seriously is he gonna be about
his diet and his conditioning. I hear that, and all
I'm saying is just pump the brakes. Everybody loves to
crown people prematurely before they win. You can do all

(06:43):
that's right, crown them. I mean, can you win something.
He hadn't been out of the first round. They didn't
want a playoff series yet. If that was a deciding
game and they won last night, then maybe okay, he's
taking the next step. He's has Dallas in the second round.
They beat the wanted Clippers, who who on paper are better.
I get all that conversation. They're up three to two.

(07:07):
That's all I'm saying. They lost. Last year they had
don't do don't, don't don't saf shoot around that yelps.
Last year he had the Clippers. They beat them. Last
year they noon they had to step on his ankle,
or they didn't step on the stopping They stepped on
his ankle. This documented. You saw the play The guy

(07:28):
has a bad ankle and you step on it. Come on, Rob,
But but why doesn't this translate during the regular season.
They weren't the number two seed that he doesn't destroy everybody.
I think it's more of a matchup situation when it
comes to the Clippers because their record during the year.
I just told you they were almost a play in team.
How come he's not dominating like that during the regular year.

(07:48):
Rob me out rode. He played the association for ten years. Rob,
he came in and I didn't saw a shoot around.
I said he was out of shape. Heat shubby. He
still got that baby fat on him. He gotta get
in shape. That's one for two. The injury to Dwight
Powell was so instrumental to the to their team. It
was unsunk. He does a lot, he rolls, he'll pop,
he'll hit threes, he makes the hustle plays. He saw

(08:11):
the different difference in last night's game when he played.
Porzingis injured himself. Again. I know you're saying we knew
Porzingis will be injured. Thank you hello middle name. But yeah, yeah,
that's fine. But you ask why did they start off
so slow. I'm giving you reasons why, and ultimately, this
is a team, Okay, So let me ask you this.

(08:32):
If the Clippers come back and win this series, he's
still Luca the great. You're still crowning him. Where's Dennis
Green when I need him? Are you gonna crown? Let
me ask you, so, let me ask you something. Who's
Kawai's second option? Paul George? Pretty good? Right? Yeah? But
they amn but but they choke last year. I'm just

(08:54):
asking you if they come back and win this series. No,
you gonna tell me he's Bird? No, No, I want
you to finish what I'm saying, Paul George. Pretty good?
Right right? Pretty good? Okay, Okay, fine, we're not gonna
superstar him. We're not doing all that. But who's Lucas
second option? Tim Hardaway? Stop? Stop it, let's stop it, Rob.

(09:20):
Tim Hardaway hits very difficult, contested three point shots, and
he is he is excellent in his role. The man
doesn't even have a second option, Rob, Rob. But my
point is, and then the talk. Okay, Larry Bird, come on, man.
You remember when Adam Morrison came out of college because

(09:42):
he had that ugly, scraggly mustache and everybody said he
was the next Larry Bird. You remember that, No, he
wasn't he was He was not Larry No, he was great.
I played with Adam Morrison. He just got injured. He
got injured. And he has never Larry Bird. He never
he was. He has some other things going on, Rob,
which I'm not gonna talk about on radio, but he was.

(10:05):
He was very good. People think Adam was just a bust.
Adam got injured. They didn't have the development for the
youth that that that you have now that there's such
an emphasis on these young guys. And the mental part
wasn't there with Adam. But Adam. I have no problem
with any Larry Bird comparisons with Adam. I saw that Rob.

(10:25):
He could do everything. But but the only reason is
because he's white. He was. He's white with a scraggy mustin. No, no, no, no, Rob.
He could shoot contested threes, he could post you up,
he could run pick and rolls. Career in the NBA,
he couldn't do that. He did it in college. But Rob,
he got hurt. And I told you the player development

(10:47):
back then was not the same. And you you don't
have any compassion for these guys. Man, I'm gonna call
you man that you gott into a fight with man Rob. Rob,
you don't care about these dudes that didn't have a
best man. Yeah, I mean Ryan. He says, I'm not

(11:08):
a type. I'm ugly. I don't know what to say,
but I'm just saying no serious. As a guy who
played ten years and I've seen guys come in and
out the league, I've seen guys far more talented than myself.
Mental toughness and player development plays such a role in
getting into the right system is everything, and we gotta admit,
we gotta What we're not talk about is the best

(11:29):
coaching the playoffs, and that's Rick Carlisle. Best coaching. You
want to argue that rob best coaching the playoffs is
Rick Carlisle. Rick Carlisle is putting, I'm not gonna call you,
really because I think the job that Monty Williams has
done has been tremendous. No, it isn't. Man, ain't out there, man,
There's no a D. There's no a D. They beat
a D when he played in Game one, They beat

(11:52):
a D when he played in Game four. What are
you talking about? The Lakers always lose Game one. That's
not a big Feedin Game one, you think a D
and then went out and wanted to think up the
joining Game one. I love the way people I always do.
Oh they don't a D don't always do that. I
don't buy that. He d ain't been out there, ain't
did nothing by himself. That's when it's a lebron thing.

(12:12):
I'm making an a D thing. That's a lebron thing
not showing up. And these guys were rusty Rob. Everybody
Robs no surprise, Yes, come on Rob. They missed the
entire season. So, like I said, the coach of the
playoffs right now is Rick Carlisle. Rick Carlos doing everything
I want. I covered Rick Carlisle when he played for

(12:34):
the Nets. Are you ready for that? So I know
Rick from Yes, that's how long I've been around when
he was a player. And also I was in Detroit
when he started coaching that Pistons team that turned into
Larry Brown's team that won the championship in two thousand
and four. So I know Rick. He's a very good coach.
I'm not even gonna from what I've seen and the
reason I'm saying that he's playing a chess match with

(12:56):
the Clippers. We spoke about it earlier today as you
talked to about But he's playing a chess match. He's changed,
switching his lineups sometimes he goes small, sometimes he goes big.
Uh you know, you know, sometimes they'll post Luca. Luca
will come up picking rolls, you know, bow bonn. He
took the cop webs off of Bobon and threw him
out there. Then to win last night, Rick Carlisle is

(13:18):
doing something with nothing. And and I don't want to,
you know, say that those are bad players in Dallas.
But Luca don is man. He gotta do this, He
gotta do it all, all right. I just I think
Ryan Man, in this world we live in, everybody wants
to crown people. Uh that doesn't even matter before they
even win anything. Can he win a playoff series first?

(13:40):
Before I want to crown Luca? I mean, can you Okay,
he's a great player. I'm not trying to poop he
does he but does he deserve the praise? Not yet?
It's about winning. What'd I always tell you what sports
as a short menu wins and lasses. He just justman
sued the what happened in two games? What happened to
two games in Dallas? If he's that guy, If he's

(14:04):
that guy when you go home after you win two
games on the road, they should have wrapped that bad
boy up, Robbie's human. Okay, here we go. All right,
folks like Ryan Hollins crowning Luca don yet is it premature?
We'll continue that conversation with you next eight seven seven

(14:24):
ninety nine off Fox eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine. You know, Ryan Hollins, always going overboard,
ready to crown these young players, telling us that they're
legendary players like Larry Bird way before their time. But
we want to hear from you, or you with Ryan,
or you with me. You want to pump the brakes.
It's The Odd Couple with Ryan Hollins and for Chris

It is the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio on
an all black TV theme song Thursday, We're coming to
you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. And there's
no such thing as a good excuse for not buckling up,

(15:55):
Laura enforcement of writing tickets, So why would you even
take the ri Do the smart things start buckling up
every trip, day or night. Click it or ticket paid
for by NITZA. All right, it is Rob Parker and
Ryan Hollins in for Chris Boussar. We're talking NBA playoffs.

(16:18):
We're talking Luca and the Dallas Mavericks, and you know,
everybody's crowning him after his performance forty two points last
night to go up three to two, crowned er ass.
I'm just not there yet. Can they win a playoff series?
Can they move to the second round before we're ready
to crown him as the next Larry Bird. I'm not

(16:40):
in that camp, but Ryan Hollins is. We want to
hear from you eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fix
Ryan we got called Yeah, we gotta call man. My
guy Drew from New Jersey has some good words for you, Rob.
I don't think it's premature. Rob. You crowned Lamar Jack
to before he even won a playoff game. He said

(17:02):
he's better than Patrick Mahomes. I did not say that.
What what what show? Do you remember that? I don't
remember that you said I would rather have him than
Patrick Mahomes. No, I don't remember that. It depends on
where we were before. I know we talked about I
know we talked about when he was the unanimous MVP
at that point where he was Uh, that might have

(17:24):
been it. But anyway, make your point on Luca, Well
you see him on the court. Who out of the series,
who has played better? Luca or Kawhi? Did they win
the series? No, Luke, no Kawuhi is that was shooting
sixty five percent from the field, fifty percent from three
point had been playing great basketball. So I don't. I mean, yes,

(17:44):
his team lost the first two games, but then his
team came back and won the next two, So it's
not that clear cut to how about we do a
little parlay I got the Lakers win it being the Suns,
and I also got the MAVs being the Clippers. If
all that happens, I get the call in whenever I want. No,

(18:05):
I don't work like that. We can't do, Rob, you
won't have it. Thanks for the call, though, and enjoys.
We appreciate you. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox,
Our next caller is coming from the shop, and he
got some more words for you, Rob Parker. Who is
that man? Is due from the shop? Baby, favorite man?

(18:28):
You know what I'm saying. Look, man, when Luthery was
coming in, I was dealt man. I thought he was
was too slow and too unathletic. You know what I'm saying.
But look, you can't crown him. He's not learning legend.
What learning nothing would do to these people. He would
bounced to these people met on the map. But he's
not the rebound. The learning legend is. He's about the

(18:50):
same sad but he got more handles. Super Classy got
that radio there stopping through it. Trans Hell. Know you
can't crown them yet, man, still only third can't yet
didn't come back? There we go, there we go. There's
some legend coming from the shop some some uh some

(19:12):
some real talk because it's just premature. That doesn't mean
that I'm saying he can't play, or I think he's
a scrub or a bomb, or he doesn't deserve some credit.
But let's just slow down a little bit. That's all
I'm saying. With Ge kind of bamboos on me, I'm
I'm sorry, Gee. I thought he had some word for Rob,
But don't worry ted out in Georgia, got something for you, Rob.

(19:34):
What's going on? Fellas? What's that? Nothing much? Nothing much, Drob.
I love you, but you're a little wrong on this one.
And I got faxed to back it up. Man. Actually,
Luca is better than Larry was at this point of
his career. In Larry's first two playoff series, he averaged
about twenty two points a game, and Luca's first two
playoff series he's averaging thirty seven points a game. No

(19:58):
in ain case close. Larry Bird turned up the Celtics
around his first year. Go look at the numbers. It
ain't just about putting numbers up. It's about that they
was a team better man. Guys shoot way more, they
shoot more threes. It's totally different, and Larry Bird joined
a team that had been down in the dull drums.

(20:19):
I mean, I'll go back and give you some facts
on where the Celtics were and what happened when Larry
Bird got there. It ain't no just no point total
that you're gonna tell me, because the Mavericks weren't making
the playoffs despite all those points he was putting up.
Yeah yeah, but Rob, Rob, he ain't had no help.
I mean, Larry Bird had no we did. They never

(20:40):
had a super bad they were They didn't make the
playoffs before they got Larry Bird. They didn't have no
they weren't good Ryan. When he got there, he made
them better. You are we are you gonna scrutinize the
Celtics Now? Are you telling me that Larry Bird didn't
win championships with a good team. That's not what I'm saying.
All I'm saying is Larry Bird got to the Celtics,

(21:03):
they were a bad team. You don't think Luca could
have joined that. You don't think Luca could have joined
What Dallas was a good team when they got him.
Was that Dallas wasn't a good team, Rob, No, what
I know they weren't good, But I'm saying the turnaround
with Larry Bird was immediate. That's That's all I'm trying

(21:24):
to tell you is that his stamp on that Celtics
team when he got there turned him into a perennial
championship caliber. We got something you might like to hear.
Man blind Seahawks fan in Olympia, Washington, hometown of Michael Fay,
my former UCLA team, may gout. He has some words,
Rob what up? Robin? Ryan? I just want to say

(21:45):
this before I helped him. My call can the imaging
team alex soone cook respects on Ryan Holland's his name.
He's not even in the intro. Whoa, whoa? You know what?
You know it was a holiday weekend. I'm this past week,
all right, yeah, all right, So I want to say this.
My thing with Luca is I just don't like to,
you know, put people in the great category as too
young of an age. But I think he's still really good.

(22:07):
Because saying that, without Luca, the Mavericks of being a
dumpster somewhere and you'd be tweeting it's so quiet and
bout you can hear a mouth urinate on the Luca.
Don hit him with his own line. I do it
all the time. Yeah, but he is even Santrona save
up the forty two point performance, but shoot in eighteen
for thirty eight from the field. Luca is absolutely carrying

(22:30):
this team. I think if he got him help, like
Ryan Hollands is saying, they'd actually be, you know, somewhere
to contend in the Western Conference. It's like hyd without
the help. All right, let me we appreciate the call. Ryan.
You're ready for some edumacation real quick. I'm ready, man, okay.
Larry Bird entered the NBA in nineteen seventy nine eighty season,
where he had an immediate impact, starting at power forward

(22:53):
and leading the Celtics to a thirty two win improvement
over the previous year, a thirty to win improvement over
the previous year, before being eliminated in the playoffs in
the conference finals his rookie year. Don't tell me he's from.
There are only like ten teams in the NBA eight
though that was not not back in nineteen eight seventy

(23:15):
nine eighty. Stop it all right, that's my point. It's like,
let's not crown them, all right. We've got the trolling
a rolling with our man. Martin White's coming up next.
But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Fox sports Radio dot com and within the iHeart Radio app.
Search f SR to listen live. Tom Rady, He's done.

(23:44):
Aaron Rodgers did not have a Pro Bowl season. Trying
to kiss me? Right, it's trolling or rolling? Okay, real quick,
I got a troll. Chris Brusory, oh many, hey, hey hey,
and it's his wedding day. But as a veteran NBA scribe,

(24:05):
a wedding anniversary, as a veteran NBA scribe, he should
have known better because he get married smack in the
start of June. Ryan Hollins, do you know the NBA
is this not final time? It's just not playoff time?
And every other year? Yeah? I mean I did to
tell my wife to reschedule. Man, that was gonna be
a bad message to the team. Is that what you

(24:26):
did too? Yeah? And I did. She was like, oh,
let's do it June whatever? Right, No, no, no, I understand.
Can I get married on July third? But maybe twenty
six years ago or whenever. He wasn't covering the NBA
like that, He was always covering the NBA. Man, Nah,

(24:47):
he had other job before that. I don't know exactly
where he was twenty six years ago, but maybe he
wasn't because you remember when he was in Cleveland, he
was doing some Indian stuff. So I don't know. I'm
just saying, all right, well, well rock Jue third is
also smacking him in the baseball season. But yeah, I understand,
I understand you're not gonna get married in December. All right,

(25:09):
let's get the troll and a rolling. If Rob and
Ryan liked the story, then you hear you hear the
roll sound. And if they don't, you hear the troll sound.
Oh man, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey hey hey. Johnny
Manzella is back in the news. The former college football
store admitted recently he made quote a pretty decent living

(25:32):
selling autographs while he was at Texas A and M
now admitting things like this could get wins in awards vacati,
but Manzella is adamant he never took any money until
after he got the hisman. Now, Rob, we know the
NT do blade. They hold a little bit of a grudge.
Trolling or rolling. Johnny Football is going to lose his

(25:52):
heisman all these years later, I'm rolling with it. You
know that they've taken away all kinds of stuff from
people when they find out and if they can get
anybody who can step forward and say that they paid
Johnny Manziel for an autographed when he was a player,
you know, during that time. That's why you can't open

(26:15):
your mouth like that. All it takes is one person
to be able to document it and say when he
got it, how much he paid or whatever, and his
goose could be cooked. Man, they're trolling, man. They're not
gonna take anything way. It's been too long, man, and
that man is don't kick him while he's down, Rob
Rob takedown. They take down banners at Michigan where Martin

(26:39):
went to college, they've taken they took down, uh, the
Fab five and all that. They take down banners when
when they find out that you've done stuff that you're
not supposed to do them. I right, Martin, Yeah, I'm
just trying to figure out. Look banner the Southern Connecticut
State ever. Oh wait, that's right, you know what we
want the Division two. So that's all. That's all. It's

(27:01):
better than it's better than having a football team that
can't win the Big ten. You know what they say,
Ron Parker, it's better to have one and then had
it vacated and to never have won at all. Controlling
the rown a couple of five sports radio. Now, Bill
Belichick may have lost the divorce, but there's another Florida
quarterback also rooting against him. Belichick is just forty eight wins,

(27:25):
shy of breaking Don Shula's NFL bet three huwenty eight wins,
and Don Hule's quarterback ain't happy about it. The Merino
said quote, I hope he doesn't get it. I'm a
Dolphin for life, coach Schuller for life. I don't want
him to get it. Rolling or rolling Dan Marino actively
rooting against Bill Belichick. I'm trolling it. Oh man, hey

(27:50):
hey hey, hey, hey hey hey. You could love Don
Shuling what he did and be a Dolphin. But to
openly root against somebody who's done nothing but he's he's coaching,
He's doing his job. You can't. Records are made to
be broken every day. If he breaks it, that doesn't
take any shine away from Don Shula. He was a

(28:10):
great coach. Everybody knows it, even though he only won
one Super Bowl. I mean he only he didn't win
any Super Bowls with Dan Marino, but he was still
a great coach. I think that that's lame to publicly
say you're rooting against somebody. Well, Rob, I'm rolling with it,
because guy, Rob, guys like you don't like to hit
the truth. So he comes out and he tells the truth,

(28:32):
and he's saying what he would say behind closed doors
in the public, and guys like you can't respect it.
I'm rolling, rolling, rolling, odd couple of Fox Sports Radio
not worth to spike lead because the Knicks were banned
boozeooed by the Hawks, losing this series by four to
one margin. Trey Young was special, but his best moment

(28:52):
came as the clock was ticking down in the last
game of this year. He's get a thirty foot three
pointer to silence matters to Square Garden. He took two
steps back and took about after Tray Young and the
fans at Madison Square Garden went back and forth all series.
Rob trolling or rolling. Trey Young is the new NBA

(29:13):
super villain. I'm rolling with it. I'm rolling with him.
Oh yeah, no, I love it. He loved playing against
the crowd in New York reminded me of the days
when I covered Reggie Miller when he made those shots.
I was there, I covered that game and he went
back and forth with Spike Lee and the choke sign

(29:33):
and all that. That stuff is great. It's great to
have a villain. Everybody doesn't have to like you as
long as you keep it, you know, coaching, and there's
no bad blood. I love it. He's the new NBA villain.
Rob you're trolling now, Oh man, Hey, you can't call
this man a villain. Nor do I think Trey Young

(29:56):
wants to be a villain. He was spit on, he
was jeered at New York. Was just absolutely obnoxious. This
This was Nick's fandom at its finest. Outside of the spitting,
I think the spinning was too fine, and I think
New Yorkers. I talked to him my friends who are
New Yorkers and said it was it was too far.
But ultimately I can't. I don't think Trey is a villain.

(30:16):
I think they just poked a little bitty bear and
he wasn't that small, shooting from thirty feet. I loved it.
It's good to have the good, the give and take
with fans. You know that. Ryan, No, No, I love,
I love was out there fake spitting after last game,
taking bows and got the post game conference. Well, I
just want to put on the show. I know, I'm

(30:37):
in New York. Come on, Ryan, he's he's he's a
he's a prime trash starker. But I don't get it.
I don't think this is gonna be a thing in
the next series. I don't think it's it's like a thing.
I think they poked him and he responded. All right,
that's trolling and or rolling with Martin White. Martin, we're
appreciating my man. Don't forget to check out our podcast

(31:02):
on the Extra Points podcast Network. It's the Lemon Pepper
Parlay Podcast with Rob Parker and Martin Weiss. It is
available now. All right, make sure you do that. Ryan.
Try to teach this man a little something too about
basketball while you got him, Okay, I know, all right, yeah,

(31:22):
real yes, Since nineteen eighty seven, he's still wept behind
the years. Nine. All right, the Knicks are who we
thought they were. We'll get into that next. It's the
odd couple. Ryan Hollands in for christ We saw Rob
Parker here you there. This is Fox Sports Radio. Fox

along with Ryan Hollands in for Chris Broussard. We're coming
to your life from the Fox Sports Radio studios. And

(32:05):
there's no such thing as a good excuse for not
buckling up law enforcement or writing tickets. So why take
the risk through the smart thing and start buckling up
every trip, every day or night? Click it or ticket
paid for by NITZA. All right, Ryan Hollins, you just

(32:27):
sent me something. I know we're gonna talk about the
Knicks real quick, but what is this story I'm seeing here? So,
Dennis Schroeder has a history of unfollowing teams that he's
not gonna play for anymore. On I G and robbed,
he unfollowed and deleted his Lakers post in the midst

(32:47):
of an elimination game. He did that today like before
the game six. I mean, yeah, yeah, yeah, Rob. So
I don't know if you want to dive into it later,
but it's an interesting one. That is pretty interesting. Maybe
we could, yeah, talk about a little bit more. Let's

(33:10):
talk about the Knicks though, all right, because we kind
of teas that people are expecting us to talk about it.
But that is very very interesting. That is weird that
you would do that before such a crucial game, even
if you're upset with where things are going. And you know,
he had a terrible night in Game five, so we'll
get to that. The Knicks, they just didn't have another gear.
You know, I didn't pick them against the Hawks because Ryan,

(33:32):
I didn't know where the scoring was coming from. And
I didn't know Julius Randall was going to turn into
Orange Julius in the playoffs because he couldn't make any baskets.
But you had an orange Julius at the mall. You
know what I'm talking about? No, I know, but they
don't have another gear. They played hard, you could get
away with that during the regular season. They were a

(33:54):
good defensive team. At one time they were the number
one defensive team. I think the Lakers overtook them. But
but Ryan shot making, they didn't They couldn't make shots. No,
the Knicks really struggled and I dropped the ball. I
thought Julius Randall would have been better. I thought they
would be you know, the Knicks, I did. I thought

(34:15):
they'd be able to switch picking rolls. I thought that,
you know, they were a little more versatile than we
gave him credit for. But I didn't think that the
length of Atlanta would have bothered them in the way
they did. And you know, Tips just kept playing Trey
Young and dropped coverage and Trey Young hit threes. He
didn't adjust. Where was the adjust he didn't rob And

(34:35):
that was a scrutiny in Chicago. And I talked to
some of the guys that were on the team, and
they just practiced so hard. And you know, the Tips
never really changed any of his philosophies. And that's what
you saw with the Knicks. But listen, make no mistake,
that was an absolute superb season for the Knicks. But
here's here's what's really underlying. The Knicks were turning into

(34:56):
an organization in which we could see a big time
superstar megastar looking at the Knicks and coming and joining
New York. And I feel like Julius Randall not showing
that he's ready to meet meet you know, the challenge yet,
and I'm not saying he won't be able to. I
think that really hurt the New York's chances of getting

(35:19):
another superstar. Not to say that he can't become that,
but I think it's a little less appealing in the
way that they lost to the Atlanta Hawks, which are
a good team, but not a great team and definitely
not a contender. I tend to agree with you, I do,
because I think they thought that they had, you know,
a player that they could build around, right, But I

(35:41):
still think that they need a star as good as
Julius Randall was, and he had a fantastic year, right,
We'll all agree on that. I don't think anybody can
say he didn't. I think Chris said he voted for
him for second All Team, you know, at that All NBA,
because he really turned it around. They interested in the
fourth spot in the in the East. The Knicks became

(36:04):
a force, but they just I don't I just playing
hard in the playoffs or playing hard during the regular season.
It's a little different, don't you think it is. Unfortunately,
you're gonna open some some wounds robbed that I guess
I'm gonna have to bring out. You know, I was
on that Live City Clippers team and we played really hard.

(36:24):
We we dunked on everybody. We'd be blowing teams out
Man and robbed Man. We got to the postseason and
you know, Blake and DJ are in each other's way,
and you know, blake three point shooting wasn't big, so
you know, Blake, they were closing out to its mid range.
And you know, our bench fell apart because our bench
was now playing against their starters. You know, we were

(36:44):
a regular season team. Shoot, we were the best team
in the NBA for a little while in the regular season,
but ultimately things fell apart. But obviously I think that
New York has a lot more potential. There's cat space there.
Julius Randall will be better. But I'd be lying to
you if I didn't say that that was it to
turn and it's you know, it maybe not the same

(37:05):
or a pill that you once had. And the other
thing too, is that there aren't any big free agents
right this this summer, right Ryan, not like the blockbusters
we've had or the big time players who have moved
the last couple of years. It'll be interesting to just
to see. But the Knicks are back on the map.
We can agree on that, can't we. Oh yeah, absolutely.

(37:26):
I'm not gonna say they're just box office, but New
York has got something to cheer about. Yeah, no doubt.
And the and the Garden was alive for the first
time in a long time. Did you enjoy playing in
Badison Square Garden? Did it mean anything to you? It does,
and it did because a lot of players say that
a lot. Well, it's it's lit up differently now that

(37:47):
COVID is kind of opening back up. The stars are
gonna be out. But the stars were out, but there
was just a different fill you know when you right
when you come in into the garden. Man, it's a
different environment, Robin, I'll tell you there's nothing like it
Ain't nothing better than even getting to win in the garden. Baby.
I went there and got some dubs, man, So I'd
take it, Rob, No doubt. And the way that you

(38:07):
were talking about the way it's lit up, it's like
a theater, yes, because the court is lit and the
seats are dark like you're you know, like you're on stage.
Am I right? People on the way show people forget
the Lakers bit that from the Knicks, The Knicks were
like that before, and the Lakers went to change it,
and they kind of did it on steroids where it's
all dark around if you go to a Laker game,

(38:27):
and under this floor is actually really really lit up.
But yeah, the Lakers took there from the Knicks, no doubt.
All Right, our number two coming up on the Odd Couple,
and there's a new football league, another new football league,
and we're gonna talk about that. I'm not that happy
about it. I think it's ridiculous. It is the Odd
Couple on a TV theme song, Thursday Stick and Stay
