the world of sports. We have some great topics that
(01:09):
we're gonna get into football, basketball, even a little bit
of college football here and there We've got In the
second hour, our first guest will be Eddie House, who
visits us once a week, former NBA champion and FS
one NBA analysts. And then in the third hour we
(01:30):
will have the hot seat. We got a new person
on the hot seat Parson. We told her before the show,
look nothing personal. We can't take it easy on her.
We burn people up, they leave charred. But you know
when ashes, there's a pile of ashes when we're done
(01:52):
with them. I don't want to say that dev has
already thrown in the white towel. But if you look
at her booth, you know what she does sports updates.
She's rubbing barbecue sauce on her back right now. I
got on the barbecue. Oh, I thought you were a
little red there. I thought it was barbecue sauce. I'm sorry.
(02:13):
I want to hear damn go at it though. I mean, yeah,
he's so nice. She's got opinions. I mean I can't
see her just she's gonna shut you down, Chris, but
you I'm the voice of reason though my takes are
just gospel though, right, absolutely right. Look, it's gonna probably
end up being me and Dad but against you. Right.
(02:33):
I think we are both the voice of reason, logical truth.
You You just you kind of out there. I'm just
trying to do good sports talk radio and make sure
it's engaging. It makes you. Is that the excuse for you?
It's not excusing meis takes? O, my takes are my takes?
Are are hot? Are you say? Honesty and straightforward? In truth?
(02:56):
Are dull? Yeah? Most of the time? All right, So
you've already been on the mic, so yeah, away, let's
welcome in Chris of course, the odd couple crew who
we couldn't do this fine radio program without them. And yes,
Rob g is our producer, Alex is our engineer, and
(03:18):
Deb Carson the sports anchor. She'll keep us, of course
updated throughout the night. What I do like is not
only did the crew get the hoodies, the odd couple
of hoodies, but they wear them like I love that
Rob war hits his first day and now today Alex
has his on and Deb you had yours on today
(03:39):
the two didn't you? Absolutely? I got it right here
with me. I can't wait to wear mine during the holiday.
But isn't that nice? It's the perfect weight yep, yeah
for la it's not too heavy right now, it's perfect.
I have some matching pants, so I'm gonna have a go.
I'm gonna have a whole You're gonna have you said
the pants I got? Hey, I just happened to buy
some Adida sweatpants that match perfect. Oh there you go.
They are the fit like their material color. Do you
(04:01):
are you gonna wear sweats on Christmas? Because you wear
sweats every day I do. Do you get dress? Well, yeah,
I'll dress. I'll throw on something some slacks, pans, jockies,
or look nice on Christmas Day with the fan. Okay,
I was just wondering, all right, Rod Parker, I do
have a bone to pick something else. You had to
say something. We're gonna kick some ask today. Let's kick
(04:23):
you've been so you've you've let go of the rope one. No,
we're not even trying to do it, and we're just
trying to get everybody mentioned. I wanted to talk to you.
How was your day? You have a good day already?
My day was good? You like see you like this
small talk because you a little bit you because I'm
gonna slay you on this first topic and that's that
has nothing to do with it. We're gonna take this
(04:43):
out to about eleven minutes so we can avoid the topic. Okay, No,
we're not gonna do that, Rob g Just one thing
yesterday when we talked about the Brooklyn and the Lakers, Okay,
let's go. Did you pick Brooklyn? Yeah I did. Did
I not pick Brooklyn yesterday? Brooklyn? Wow? Could you? I don't.
I don't. I mean, I'm not even trying to be
(05:04):
like yesterday. Oh they're not Brooklyn. He remember he discounted
them that they couldn't beat that the Lakers. But they
couldn't beat the Lakers. I know, what's a meaningless right.
But you're talking about it like it's the AFC championship
or something. But I'm just telling you, like you you
poo pulled them, told us said they're hot. Ah, that's
(05:25):
what I'm That's that's what you did. All right, go
ahead and say your little Ryan No, we're good. No
that we want to hear it now. I just want
that they were all on the other side of the
glass and on this Wednesday, we're gonna kick some ass.
Let's do That was pretty good? Pretty good? All right? Now,
I got a bone to pick with the Pro Bowls selection.
(05:47):
Really here we go. You don't know, I'm surprised to
time Brady made it. I don't think Tom Brady should
have been a pro bowler, and I definitely don't think
Aaron Rodgers should have been a pro bowler. Both of
those guys we could, you know, we don't have to
get into other snubs. People mentioned Alvin Kamara to running
back with New Orleans Christian mccafrey. Look, they're in the NFC.
(06:10):
I'm sorry, but I'm not taking Ezekiel Elliott, Ty Gurley
or say Kwon Barkley off of the team. I don't
see how you those three guys don't wouldn't make it.
They would have been the three running backs in the league.
Like if it was all you know, forget the conferences,
they would have been the top three. But at quarterback,
(06:31):
there's no excuse, and I'm not you know, you're gonna
go ahead and act like Aaron Rodgers deserved it. I'm
not going there with Tom Brady. I've defended Brady. I
think he's had an okay year, But Andrew Luck should
have been the pro the third quarterback behind Patrick Mahomes
(06:53):
and Philip Rivers on the AFC Pro Bowl team, no
question about it. Go ahead make your case because for
Aaron rod for Andrew Luck over Tom Brady, you're gonna
shoot that down just whenever you're done. You don't think
Andrew Luck should have been in overtime, Brady he's got
more touchdowns. He's been more well, I won't say he's
(07:15):
been more valuable to his team, but he's had more touchdowns.
You know, he's been tremendous on that squad. He's completing
more passed at the higher percentage last few games, I
mean last half of the season, he's really carried them.
And I get it. Tom Brady is the goat, but
Andrew luck should have made the Pro Bowl team this year.
(07:37):
And then on the other side, it's even worse. On
the other side, Aaron Rodgers is like twenty eighth in
completion percentage. Aaron Rodgers's team is out of the playoff
race five eight and one, largely because he's been missing
receivers that he's never missed before, not with this type
(07:58):
of consistency, and Russell Wilson was snubbed. Russell Wilson has
thirty one touchdowns to Aaron Rodgers twenty three. I know
Rodgers only has two interceptions, that's where you're gonna go,
but he's Russell's only got six interceptions. We know who's
the better runner. Russell Wilson is carrying his squad and
(08:20):
what was supposed to be a down year He's had
a better season than Aaron Rodgers period the end. His
passer rating is dwarfing Aaron Rodgers one eleven point six
to ninety seven point two. There's no way Aaron Rodgers,
as great as he is, should have been on this
(08:41):
Pro Bowl team ahead of Russell Wilson and golf has
struggled lately, but he was so strong early in the season.
Their team is doing so well. I don't have a
problem with him being there. And of course Drew Brees,
so I don't know what are you You're actually gonna
argue that, are you done? Yeah? I'm done. Go ahead.
(09:01):
It's the damn Pro Bowl, which nobody cares about, but
Chris to work get worked up about a pro You
just went on the nets beating December nineteen. It was
my it's a regular season game. Here's a difference. It's
a Pro Bowl, which really doesn't matter. Have you watched
the Pro Bowl? Most guys beg out of it because
(09:24):
they don't really want to be part of it. And Chris,
it's not the game, it's the honor. I'm just hearing
me out though. It's not that important, and it's about love.
It's about fans and the people who get to pick.
Let them see who they want to see. They don't
want to see those other guys that you're talking about.
If the fans vote, they got thirty three percent of
(09:46):
the vote, and the coaches have another share, and the
and the players have a share. This is who they picked.
It's a popularity context. It's not totally based on stats.
That's what all all Star games are based on, Chris,
this is nothing new for you to get worked up
over who made the Pro Bowl. In another year, nobody
(10:07):
would in six and three months, you wouldn't even remember
who made the Pro Bowl. It doesn't matter. You do
anything that matters. If you can't believe that you're doing
this just so you don't have to say anything about
Aaron rud No, I'm just telling you the only thing
it's an honor RD. It doesn't matter. The only thing
nobody cares about the game. I'm not talking about the
game I'm talking about And when when people know are
(10:28):
nominated for the Hall of Fame, one of the things
guys look at is Pro Bowls. Seriously, but that's what
it's about. But it's not. That's about the game in Honolulu.
Who cares about that? It's the honor. You're a pro bowler.
It means a ton. It doesn't mean anything unless you
have a bonus that you were gonna get a million
dollars from making a Pro Bowl. Then I would be
(10:50):
worked up if I got snubbed, I'm sure. Other than that,
you're mad because coaches and fellow players in the league
didn't for you. What do you want? These are your peers.
Who do you want? No, don't blame miss sportswriters. Don't
blame mis sportswriters. You know, pick these guys. Coaches and
players made up sixty seven percent. Sixty seven were coaches
(11:13):
and players. So don't ye who's complaining? What players complaining?
After you told me this was all fans and they
were mad because of the popularity contest, which it mostly
is anyway, they would still say, out of respect, they
still love Aaron Rodgers, they still love Tom Brady, And
that's the guys they picked. It's not a big deal.
Who cares? Oh what a snub? I can't believe that
(11:37):
they didn't pick Russell Wilson. Oh my goodness, is it
so bad? All I'm telling you is when it all
adds up, it really doesn't matter if they made the
Pro Bowl or not. It's just a game that most
people don't even want to play in. Most fans have
stopped watching. Nobody cares about the Pro Bowls. You're not
even getting my point. I get your point. No you don't,
(11:59):
because I couldn't care less about the Pro Bowl the game.
But they got named to the Pro Bowls. That game,
it's the honor. It's just like the NBA All Star Game.
It's the honor when years from now, when people in
the next generation the popularity contest, Chris, when the next
(12:20):
generation after you and me are looking at comparing players,
some guys comparing players they never saw before, they're gonna say, oh,
he was a seven time Pro Bowler, so it's only
made it twice. He couldn't have been that good. And
even in Hall of Fame votes, you look at all
Star bursts, Pro Bowls, all of that comes into play.
(12:44):
You can't tell me a player was so great when
he only made two or three Pro Bowls. But Chris,
you got players, there's not enough room. So you just
said it. In the NFC, right, you just named the
three running backs and the other guys who got left off. Right,
so don't tell me that that's gonna be the only criteria.
(13:05):
If they're not saying the only there's only three spots
in the NFC for a running back, it means you
weren't one of the three best running backs. It doesn't
mean you weren't a great running back. If they can
only pick three guys in large if it happen doesn't
after year after year, Yeah it does, didn't. That means
that you weren't the graded. Why three grades, That's why
(13:25):
it should be legitimate, because if you really are one
of the three greatest, you should get that nod. I
just don't believe that. I can't believe you're being so
short sighted. It's as big of a deal as you
make it out. It's just the Pro Bowl. It doesn't matter,
doesn't matter. I can't believe you are being incredibly short sighted.
This has nothing to do with that foolish game. This
(13:46):
is about the honor. This is about racking up accolades.
People you get, you just do when it's time for
you to be in or out of the Hall of Fame.
That I'll tell you right now, one or two miss
hall by Pro Bowls will not keep you out of
the Hall of Fame, Chris Boussard. If you have the numbers,
it's ridiculous to even Matt gonna be in the Hall
(14:08):
of Fame. Matt Stafford gotta gotta he got the numbers,
and he shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame. No,
but I'm talking about he got a Pro Bowl alternate
or something. Nobody. Nobody's gonna look at that and go, oh,
Matt Stafford went to the Pro Bowl. I guess he's
a I guess he's a Hall of Famer. Stop. It's
all about numbers. And if you are that guy and
you've put up those kind of numbers, they put up
(14:29):
those numbers. But you you've been like one Pro Bowl,
but you've got a lot of cases, you're not gonna
make it. But you gotta understand, as the guy you're
talking about, people don't know football looking at it. Later,
we're talking about the guys who vote for the Hall
of Fame. They they're looking at all of that. They
know a guy didn't get in because they were already
three or four. There were quarterbacks who years from now,
(14:51):
twenty years from now. I think I think that this
is overblown, this whole snub thing and oh my god,
is so terrible. And the coaches and players make up
sixty seven percent of the vote. So you're saying they
don't know anything about football. No, I'm not saying that
at all. I'm not saying they don't. Obviously they know football,
but a lot of them on Sundays they're not watching
(15:12):
the other guys. Now they're watching film, but they're not
watching the other guys. And we've seen players make a
mockery out of it in the NBA. Yes, that's what
I'm telling you. So you're making a mockery out of this. No,
I'm not all right eight seven, seven ninety nine On
Fox if you want to weigh in, is the Pro
Bowl snub? Is it? Is it nothing like Rob Parker says?
(15:33):
Or is it something like the logical one says. We'll
continue the conversation with you, seven ninety nine or Fox
eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine
Fox Sports Radio. The holidays are close, really really close,
And if you're behind on your holiday shopping, you're probably
starting to panic. But don't worry. There is still time
(15:53):
to get your loved ones amazing last minute presents that
don't seem like last minute presents. Because now through the
holidays at Hellsberg Diamonds, you can make one quick and
easy stop for two great gifts. Been one thousand, one
hundred ninety nine dollars or more on stunning jewelry for
her and get a free Nintendo Switch system for the kids.
That's gifts. That gift gifts at Hellsberg Diamonds game sold separate. Right,
(16:17):
all right, it is the Eye Couple, Chris Bruce Sorrd
and Rob Parker, and we're getting you ready for that
Christmas season. I can't wait less than a week away. Man,
I'm excited going home to That's great. Get the week off.
You're gonna be working hard though you're a workhorse. You
are a workhorse. There ain't no doubt about that. You
(16:37):
can't say I don't I don't know. You can't say no.
Anybody that knows you can. You cannot say that about
Rob Parker, but you can't say some of your votes
your take. But all right, we threw it out to
you eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Were you
upset or bothered by some of the Pro Bowls snubs,
(17:00):
particularly Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady making it over Russell
Wilson and Andrew Luck respectively. You can even throw in
Deshaun Watson and there. Yeah, no, he's had a great year.
Age seven, seven ninety nine on Fox is the telephone
number if you want to jump in. All right, let's
start with Doug in Indiana. Doug, you're on the odd couple.
(17:21):
Thanks for taking my call. Problem. I just wanted to
weigh in a minute on the Pro Bowl here. Um,
I agree, it is an honor for me. I've always
looked at it like it is a great honor to
be selected to play in the Pro Bowl. But I
also feel like it should be the top players. It
(17:44):
shouldn't be a popularity contest. You know. Tom Brady, Yeah,
he used to go, of course he's gonna get in.
But like you said, Aaron Rodgers, But but Doug, Doug,
here's a problem. And I hear what you're saying. And
if we lived in a logical world and everybody did
the same thing, but we don't live in that kind
of world. And here's what I'm talking about. It's not
(18:07):
math two and two is four no matter who's doing
the math. When you open something up for people to interpret, right,
what they think is valuable and what makes them this
guy that or whatever. You leave yourself open for a
popularity contest, and that's what we have and everything. Are
(18:27):
you gonna a popularity contest? Are you gonna say that
if Tom Brady's MVP, he's not gonna be, but let's
say he was. Are you gonna say if you leave
it open you know it's anybody's interpretation. No, you're gonna
be like what right, don't even act like you're not.
I don't want to say anything. I'll just because you
(18:47):
know it would be ridiculous. But when it comes to
a Pro Bowl or something like that, I just because
you probably wouldn't happen of an award, you know why,
because that's voted on by writers who take the vote
really seriously and professionally. The problem when you introduce players
and even coaches Chris and then some fas they don't
(19:09):
see it. Well they did what I'm saying, like, like,
you're gonna have a chance where a guy like I'm
telling you, they won't even look at Aaron Rodgers stats.
They know he's one of the best quarterbacks and they'll
just go Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, Tom Brady have their assistance
in the office or their son, they have somebody else
(19:29):
do it. Let's go to all Marcellis in Indianapolis. Join
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Marcellus
sellers man, Hey, look, you know, hopefully I can get
my point out before you got go ahead. We'll let
you talk. But but but look, look, I agree with
the brother that says, hey, look, this is an honor.
(19:49):
It really is. And and when I when you think
about past players, the term Pro Bowl or wide receiver
such and such, its all way to test it right,
and it isn't and it is indeed leverage towards that
player when he's coming to negotiate with that honor for
(20:10):
more money down the road. You know, hey, I'm just saying, look,
when I looked at Darius Letter, I'm I'm in Indianapolis
right that it matters to Darius. Believe me, We've been
reading about him all day in local papers here and
the tweets that he sent out, and the players on
the team think, look, this guy one hundred and forty
six tackles, was seven sacks, and he's twenty two tackles,
(20:33):
more than everybody in the league twenty two and he
missed the game. Are right, You are right on the
money for everything. That was a great take said, He's
right on the money. It matters to the players, it
matters in negotiations. It's an honor. We had Learoyd, we
(20:55):
had Leroy Butler on yesterday. How did I introduce him?
Four time pro bowler? That gave him? Got him, I
got him in the Hall of Fame. But it gave
him more clout for what he said about Aaron Rodgers.
For the listeners who don't remember him. If it's just
Leroy Butler, one time pro bowler or never made the
Pro Bowl, just former defensively, probably more time or pro bowler,
(21:19):
that means something. Maybe you probably wouldn't have had him
on the shoulder if he wasn't the pro bowler. We
would have him on the show, But what he said
might not have had as much meet behind it with
the with the listeners. You're you're you're awful as you know.
I'm mom eving in mind, Tanna. Welcome to the Eye Couple.
What's happening? Man? What's up? Guys? How you doing doing right?
(21:42):
All right? Well, you guys already know I love the show,
so I'm gonna jump right into it. Listen, Chris, nine
times out of ten if I call in, I'm agreeing
with you. Unfortunately, this is that one out of ten. Man,
here's the thing. I know, I know, and I feel
bad about it, But at the same time I really
don't because here's the thing, well Rob saying, and is
I get what you're saying about the whole you know
(22:03):
in the future Hall of Fame votes, blah blah blah.
Let me ask you something though, Chris, just really quick,
do you think that Russell Wilson, from the beginning of
his career too now, has been putting up a Hall
of Fame type career? I would say yes, Not everyone would,
but I would. Then what is one Pro Bowl in
twenty eighteen gonna do for him? Later? He's already developed
(22:26):
that Hall of Fame type career. He's already put his
name out there. People know Russell Wilson, people know him.
Hold on, let me say this to Chris. How many
Pro Bowls did Terry Bradshaw make? I don't know. Okay,
that's the point. You don't know, and people was an
all time great player, but we made it. Let me
(22:47):
look at But my point to you was he won
five Super Bowls. That's what you know. You don't know
a before super Bowls. You don't know it. Before super Bowls,
you don't know anything about one. You don't know, you
don't know anybody. Of course, we don't know how many
All Star Games, Michael Jordans mean important, yes, because you
(23:09):
don't know you know how many champs? How many yards
did uh Emmett Smith rush for? You know, I don't know?
All right? Is it not important? Come on, hey, Smitty
in Indiana, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio,
So I gotta play a little bit of Devil's advocate.
All right, go ahead? Will you with Chris? You mean
(23:32):
I no, I'm gonna play with both sides. So I
agree that it's not important about how many Pro Bowls
you have. I don't think eventually anybody's going to care.
But because Chris don't even know how many guys have
been to the Pro Bowl, so it doesn't matter. Ratchaw
made three. On the other hand, it isn't honor. Your
(23:52):
peers are gonna look at that. The people that you're
playing football. You get sixty seven between the coaches and
the players. Your other players and other coaches gonna see that,
and they're gonna respect that. This is an honor to
be able to go Smitty Terry Bradshaw made three Pro Bowls.
It didn't stop them from getting into the Hall of Fame.
(24:13):
All right, let's go to Kevin in Kentucky. Kevin, welcome
to the odd Couple. Hey guys, thanks for taking my call.
No problem, Bud, So, I think Chris, I agree with you.
It is an honor. But with the ways the Pro
Bowl is right now and the format with the voting,
I agree with Rob. I don't only think it's that
(24:34):
big of a deal now. As it was based purely
on stats, then I can see where it would really
be an honor to go. But with the way it's
set up right now, I think Rob has the point.
Thank you, Kevin. It's a popularity contest. What it is.
I couldn't care less about the Pro Bowl. I mean
really like, it's not nothing to do with that game.
In fact, Rob, you'll like this. Everybody's been looking for
(24:56):
an answer to how to fix the Pro Bowl. You
know what I think they should do, and I'm dead serious, No,
make it well, don't play the game, but instead have
a superstars contest. Remember the show Superstar. They maybe you
have all these great athletes, professional athletes, O. J. Simpson,
Frank O'Haras, racing the hundred yard dash, do the obstacle course,
(25:21):
the bicycle race. I mean all that stuff. Now, guys
are so prideful today, there's brands and all that. They
probably wouldn't do it, But that's what I'd love to say.
Wouldn't you love to see a forty yard dash? I
know I don't want to see the Pro Bowl anymore
because you wouldn't get excited about Superstars. Yeah, I thought
it was great. It was Battle of the Network stars.
(25:43):
Superstars is I think it was called superd for like
TV people remember the actresses. Yeah yeah, all right. Not
every idea Lebron has is a good one. I'll explain next,
But first let's get the dav Carson for the latest
in sports. Damn. I loved those shows. By the way,
what anything about Superstar? Instead of playing the game, have
(26:04):
a Superstar, I'd rather see that. I'd rather see a
guy I try to throw a spiral through a tire swing,
you know, fifty yards away or something like that. Yeah,
you know, skills challenge. Hey, guys, we have a college
football bowl game tonight, the DXL Frisco Bowls, Yes, kicks
off top of the hour. It's one of our five
hundred and thirty bowl games that we forgot eight and
(26:27):
nobody and this game will be watched by the people
from San Diego State in Ohio. And that's pretty much it.
And you and you've seen deb Lateley all the empty
seats at these bowl games. Every people don't even go anymore. Yeah,
I mean, I guess a lot of money comes in
for these schools, but come in television exactly, it's just televid.
People don't even goodlos. Yeah, you got what six wins
(26:49):
to to get in a bowl game? That's crazy anyway.
NFL Cam Newton done for the season. The Panthers obviously
finally saw him throw on the field during the Saints
game the other night and figured his shoulder needs a
little break, so so he has been pulled for the season.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he will play Sunday at
the Jets. Back to college football for a moment. Alabama
(27:10):
reportedly has the top recruiting class the early signing period
began today, also ranked in the top five among the classes.
Texas a and M and Georgia. University of Arizona quarterback
Khalil Tate will return to play for the Wildcats next season.
College hoops North Carolina gave basketball coach Roy Williams an
extension through twenty twenty eight, at which time he'll be
(27:30):
seventy seven years old. And baseball news, I actually like
this a lot. Major League Baseball reached in agreement with
a Cuban baseball federation that's going to allow players from
there to sign Major League contracts without defective that it's great,
I mean, for safety purposes. So many of these kids
put their lives on the line to get in a
little boat and you know what I mean, and try
(27:51):
to make it on rocky water and all that enslave
to you know, drug lords and other people. But but
this basically is going to run through October twenty October
thirty first of twenty twenty one, and it's going to
be similar to the the rules that are already in
place for clubs in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. So
congratulations on somebody to coming coming together for a logical
(28:14):
solution for this. So well done. All right, thank you dad.
All right, it's the eye couple, Chris brussor Rob Parker,
We're coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent or more
on your car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot
com or call eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The
only horror part is figuring out which way is easier.
(28:36):
And Rob Parker, I love the shop. I love shut
up and Dribble. I love Lebron's game. Why do you
have to pass afar and first before now rip them?
I'm just saying I do. I'm being honest. I'm being honest.
I know, but you don't even don't even judge me
(28:58):
when you sit up here and carry the water for
Aaron Rodgers every single days, Rob g I want you
to start keeping Aaron Rodgers. I think you Aaron Rodgers.
You and Aaron text after every show. So Rob, don't work.
We're gonna start. We're gonna start on that white board
(29:19):
right there. We're gonna start every day. He mentioned he's
obsessed with Aaron rodd When you write a story, you
know how it is. I mean that would have been
that could have been a lead for me back when
I wrote for the New York Times. I love the shop,
I love shut Up and Dribble. I love his game,
But Lebron James is not much of a GM. Like
(29:40):
that shit. And you know what I would have wrote
the lead. My lead would have been, Lebron James is
the worst GM in the history of the United States.
When you wrote for Newsday and the Daily, I had
to be a little more supposed. You know, I might
have written at a Dacker and Beacon Journal, Okay, the
New York Times, New York Times. It was a different audience,
you know what I'm saying. But he looked I see
(30:06):
shades of MJ with Lebron. He's not a GM, he said,
when he's gonna own the team when he's done playing,
he's gonna hire some basketball people. Let them run it.
That's what he should do. And I'm not he knows
the game. He's a basketball sevine. But sometimes sometimes it's
hard for guys who the game comes so easy to
(30:27):
be able to evaluate others. Those people don't have those
uh qualities that you have, so you're looking at exactly
And that's the problem. I think when when guys become
gms and and then not good at it, when we
talk about I think, is there only like four guys
(30:48):
in the NBA who won a championship as a player
and as an executive? Uh that Danny Jackson, Danny Ainge
obviously not um no, no, no as an execud if
Phil Jackson wasn't exactly was the coach I'm talking about it.
It's like it's like, uh, Danny Jange, Joe Dumars, Jerry West,
(31:09):
and one other person? And was Riley? Would you consider
him the GM or was he team president of Riley? Well?
He was because he was Riley was president and coach
when he won it when he led the Heat No. Six.
But did they have a GM? You know what I'm saying,
he might sing? Riley wasn't a great player? Only four people, right?
(31:31):
Did you hear the name that just said? Yeah, that's
who was the first one you said, Joe Dumars, Jerry West,
Danny Jane that's Dumars was really good? No, right, But
I'm Jerry West the only legend right in that group,
and he's you know, most of the guys that up
coaching former players or running But think about that, how
(31:53):
how few guys that yeah, and and look and what
we're talking about is Lebron, he continues, not I I'm
not gonna say he's beating it consistently. But the Carmelo
Anthony thing keeps coming up. Leave it alone, even alone.
It's your buddy. You could be friends with somebody, but
you don't have to Oh yeah, wow, you know I
love to play with I've always said I'd love to
(32:14):
play with him. Why are you putting that out there?
And we remember, remember it was last year or the
year before when he said I'd love to play with Wade, Chris,
Paul the Melo and myself at the end of our
you ain't trying to win out if that's the team
you want to put together. That's an old timers dah
my Gosh and Joe. And then he brought Way from
Miami to come to Cleveland and then he shipped him
(32:37):
out midseason. Right, let's be honest. And the last time
you bought your boy, you you're broken down boy at
the end of his career. It didn't work out, So
why would you even Carmelo went to Houston, Carmelo went
to old Casey everywhere he was gone. It's a mess,
So why don't you you really want to do that
with the Lakers, and then Melo don't want to come
(32:58):
off the bench. I'll think a boy brought me in Mellow.
That's Mellow's problem at this point in his career. He
still wants to be a star, and I get it.
That's what you've been your whole life. But here's the thing.
If Mello was in year ten or eleven or even twelve,
I could see it, okay, because he was a great
player at that point. But Mellow and Lebron, everybody has
(33:22):
to understand this. There's no shame in not being a
star in your sixteenth year. Mellow could retain. He's gonna
be forced to retire, probably, but if he doesn't play
another lick of basketball, his legacy is set. Three time
gold medalless. I think he's gonna be a first ballot
Hall of Famer something you know. Don't think that, but
(33:42):
he's gonna be a Hall of Fame. Tell you, I'll
tell you one thing. The last couple of years gonna
hurt him. You think I think, I just think from
you don't. He doesn't. He doesn't feel good to you.
And I think people Iverson you think it didn't hurt Iverson.
But now he was an icon. He's different than Mellow.
Could he change a lot of things. Here's a straight
up mellow. When you think of him, if you just
(34:03):
think of the last couple of years, you think of
a guy who couldn't adapt, wouldn't go to the bench,
you know what I mean, disrupted a couple of teams
where it didn't work. That's what I'm just saying. It
might be the difference, Chris, between being a first ballot
and a couple of guys not voting for you the
first time, and then you miss it, and then you
might get in your second time, your second try. I
(34:24):
don't think so, but you're right now. It could. It
could because it depends. Like for me, it doesn't taint
what he's done. For others, it might. I mean a
guy like Vince Carter who's doing the right thing as
far as being you know, I'm coming off the bench.
I'm fine with that. I'm fine with eleven minutes here there.
But and he's more power to him. He's enjoying himself,
(34:46):
he's making some more money. I'm cool with it. But
you also got to realize there are a lot of
people looking at you and they can't even fathom what
Vince Carter used to be, and the longer he plays,
the longer he scoring average average twelve points. When it's
all done, and then one day you wake up and go,
(35:09):
wait a minute, my numbers only average thirteen? Right, yeah,
could you place one years? That's why that's a great point.
That's a great point. So all right, win today and
you can win forever. I'll explain that. Next. It's the

Christmas spirit with the funkiest Christmas music this side of

And we're on the road to the college football playoff.
(36:34):
And let me tell you something about the playoff. When
you asked success on signing Day in other words, like
I said, you win today, which is National Signing Day,
You're going to win eventually, maybe in two, three or
four years, because today kind of came and went for
a lot of people. I know, you know some guys
(36:56):
that are really into the recruiting process, they were all
into today, National Signing Day and all that. But most
people aren't. But today is a huge day. Today tells
you who's going to be in the playoff three years
from now, four years from now, two years from now.
(37:20):
Whoever had the best recruiting classes, that's who's going to
make it. And Alabama they're always there right Well, it's
because their last four recruiting classes have been ranked sixth,
then first, then second, then first Ohio State and now
(37:40):
I know they haven't always been there, but their average
rank over the last four or five years is three,
three or four day in the top three or four.
So who you get on signing day, who you go
out on the road and sign, is going to determine
what type of team you have in the future. That's
(38:02):
why in college football, and I'm not saying guys like
Urban Meyer and Nick Saban aren't great coaches. They are there,
their legendary, they're gonna go down like that, but at
the end of the day, their best attribute is they
are incredible recruiters. Incredible recruiters. That's what you need in college.
(38:27):
That's why Nick Saban and I know maybe he'll go
to the NFL again and do differently, but that's why
we went to the NFL. You know, all right, nothing
special because it's not about recruiting in the NFL. But
in college, you go and you sit in the living
room and you can sell Grandma or mom or aunt
(38:52):
or whoever on your team. You're going to win and
compete for championships. This is a huge day Rode, no
doubt about it. I mean that's what the stats and
and uh about early recruiting day tell you that those
teams usually wind up being being able to, you know,
(39:14):
get there to play in the big uh property in
the big Games. So you're right, top three the last
five years Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia and they're always
in the mix, right right. One aberration has been lately
Florida State, which fell off two years ago and Jimbo
Fisher's last year there and this year under Willie Taggart
(39:36):
first year, they struggled. We'll see if they turn it
around because they do have another good recruiting class. USC
two usually great and then we know they were, they
were great, and you know what they got now. I
mean this year, Lynn Swan, the ad is involved in
the recruiting because because they kept Helton, yep, he's out
there kind of you know, and then they're out there
(39:56):
the other schools are saying, ah, Helton just got back.
You don't know how long he's gonna be there. Didn't
make a change. So Lynch Swann's taking upon himself to
go out there and also sell the parents on I'm
gonna be here and you know what I mean, like
but said that can work against you. I feel like, well,
you come in here, tells me your coach is on
(40:18):
thin eye. I know. So lyn Swann was my favorite
player growing all time. Did you ever jersey? No, you know,
jerseys weren't this. I had some different I did have
a list. It wasn't a team jersey. It was a pittsbursty.
I was gonna say my first jersey. B No, they weren't.
But the first jersey I ever? Had you ready for this?
(40:41):
Vince Farragamo from The Ram, Yeah, because it was on
sale at Model's as a kid out in New York
so here. I am a Jets fan growing up as
a kid, and the first the only thing the Jets
were on sale, No, the only because we were in
New York, so the only football Georgey that was on
sale that I could afford to buy was a Vince
Ferl CoML jersey. I had to steal his jacket, hats,
(41:03):
roll fan shirts, all that stuff. All right. This on
the Road feature was brought to you by the NHTSA.
Everyone knows about the risk of driving drunk. People could
get killed, they could get hurt, you could get arrested.
You could incur huge legal expenses or even lose your job.

You could not be more wrong. Drive sober or get
pulled over. All right, it's the odd couple. We are
just getting started. We will have Eddie House on in

Bruce Hard, Rob is at Rob Parker f S one
and we're gonna switch gears moved from the NFL to
the NBA for a moment. Chris Paul made a statement
(42:30):
recently where he said that his teammate, Oh, I thought
he said that Mars was flat. I'm sorry, Okay, so
I was gonna say he didn't go as far as
to say we didn't reach the mood and we and
you know how Steph walked that back, right, Oh, he
walked it back big. Do you believe I'm a huge
I love Steph, But do you believe that he really
(42:54):
was joking? No? I don't think he was. He wasn't
joking at all, and he got so much pushback. And
the other thing that people probably said to him was, Steph,
if you ever want to say something serious, people will
not take you seriously when you put throw stuff out there.
Another thing is you have a responsibility. Kids look up
to you, and when you start playing and throwing out stuff,
(43:16):
and then they're gonna go to school and go the
Earth's not the Earth is uh, it's flat like Kyrie
Irving King, and and and then that we never we
never landed on the moon and all this kind of stuff.
So you gotta be real careful with just throwing stuff
at out and then trying to walk it back and
say it was a joke. I don't think he said
it as I don't think it was a joke, because
(43:37):
if you read his entire statement about that, he actually said, like,
you know, but what I'm saying is people shouldn't just
believe something because they've been told it. And he's gonna
go to NASA. NASA invited him to see He's going
I'm gonna go check everything, Like it just seemed like
he was like, I'm gonna see the evidence and then
I'll believe it. That's what I read into, right, And Kyrie,
(43:59):
just like you said, he realized because he said he
had teachers telling him and say, hey, all my kids,
now I think the Earth is flat. Don't do that, right,
It ain't. It's not cool. And you the most important
one of the other important points you made is when
you want to be taken seriously. Does make comments on
(44:20):
Trump and social issues. So if you're if you're like
a goofball, people will be like, oh, that's Steph Curry.
He thinks that we never landed on the moone. Who
can't take that guy seriously? Absolutely all your credibility, Yeah yeah,
all right, Well Chris Paul didn't go back speaking of
losing credibility. But what he said is this about James Harden.
(44:40):
I say it all the time. He's the best offensive
player I've ever seen. Just threw up in my mouth,
like seriously, this is a quote. I'll continuing the quote,
like seriously, he can drive, he can shoot, he's got ball. Hanley,
it's going to be a tough night for you, whoever
it is. I don't care what you you're doing, all right,
(45:02):
James Harden best offensive player Chris Paul has ever seen.
Chris Paul is old enough to have seen Michael joh
I thank you. Just stop the conversation right there. This
is Chris. What do we talk about all the time?
Prisoner of the moment? I get it, it's your teammate.
He's one of a few guys who had fifty four.
(45:23):
He's a great player, and so what if he takes
four steps to get a basket. I get all that.
But to act like you've never seen anybody who was
a great offensive player, to act like Michael Jordan didn't play,
please stop it. No, what's up with these millennials and
everything he's like? Is he a millennial? That's too old? Right?
(45:45):
Is that a millennial? Not? You guys? I think so,
let me check you see exactly. But but you know what,
he's close enough. Even if he isn't. Everything that happened
yesterday is better than anything that ever happened. We can't
live in that kind of world. Stop doing that. You're right,
you're right. And there's a few things Chris Paul is
a millennial. Yeah, did not take into consideration. I'm gonna
(46:07):
list him to number one. James Harden turns the ball over.
I mean, he treats the ball like a hot potato
to turn it over. And he to me, he should
have two MVP awards. So I'm not saying this because
I don't think he's a great He is a great player.
I voted for him MVP in twenty fifteen when Steph
(46:28):
Curry first won his first MVP. Yeah, so obviously last year, Nah,
I mean I thought he should have won it because
the White Howard was out half the year. Right, they
had a great year, and he was he was tremendous.
But but my point is, he holds the NBA record
for most turnovers in the season by a mile. He's
got two of the four highest turnovers seasons in NBA history.
(46:52):
He's challenging it five and a half turnovers a game.
That's one thing, and then we can't get it that
most of the time. If you're a point guard or
handle the ball, you're gonna have the most turnal because
six too much. Secondly, the thing Chris Paul overlooked, He's
not that efficient of a score. Now, I know it's
(47:14):
true shooting percentage is pretty good because he shoots a
ton of threes and that you know, three is more
than two, so that really weighs in and your true
shooting percentage. But overall, he's a forty four percent shooter.
Michael Jordan. You can't compare a true shooting percentage of
James Harden and Michael Jordan because Jordan and his day
and they didn't shoot threes. No, they weren't getting that
(47:37):
extra point on certain possessions half of their buckets and
things like that, So he's not that efficient of a
score again, forty four percent. The third thing rob that
Chris Paul failed to take into account is the Mike
D'Antoni factor. Mike d'antoni's offense is peeds for certain types
of players. We already saw that. With Steve nat back
(48:00):
background MVPs running that system. Never would have been an MVP,
never would have been an MVP conversation, and wouldn't be
in the Hall of Fame conversation as far as I'm concerned,
if he had not linked up with Mike D'Antoni and
more prower to him. I voted for him to be
MVP those two years. He was tremendous. But I should
(48:20):
have won the first one I had no issue with.
I think it was the second one I did. Yeah,
he who'd he went it over that second year? Who
was close? Shack was close to first year, I believe.
But whatever the case, Chris Duhan, Ray Felton, Jeremy Lynn
when they had their by far their best seasons great seasons,
(48:44):
his assists went from seven assists the game hardened to
eleven the game when D'Antoni showed up in Houston, and
they'd still be that high if Chris Paul hadn't come
over and taken some of the assists away. So I'm
not saying Harden's not great, and I'm not saying it's
he's a product of Dan Tony's system. But I'm saying
when you start saying he's a better offensive player than
(49:07):
anybody to play the game, or at least anybody in
the last thirty years, then you've gone too far. And
the other thing, too, is I always think the real
story is if Chris Paul would have said that somebody
else was not a teammate. When you're playing with somebody
and you give them a compliment like that. I just
(49:30):
there's no credence to right, you know what I mean,
what are you supposed to say, Okay, just scored fifty
points and at a triple double or whatever it was,
and people are looking for quotes about how great he is,
and then you go off the handle. So I just
think that whenever you hear that, you just go you're
taking with the greatest. But he didn't have to go that, No,
I mean, you could just say, hey, this guy's a
(49:51):
tremendous player, you know, one of the great to say
one of and you're good to go one of enough,
look and Harden is tremendous and he is mastered. He
does some type of flop offensive flop, right, you know,
they've outlawed flopping guard. But he's so crafty that he's
(50:15):
able to get to the line and draw these files
and he gets to call all the time. I get it.
It's incredible what he's done. He is a tremendous player.
I think rob when I look at the all time
great shooting guards, and I'm gonna call him a shooting guard.
I know he's kind of he's playing point in Houston,
but I'm gonna call him a shooting guard. I think
(50:36):
the top four shooting guards of all time are Michael
Jordan in this order, Kobe Bryant, Jerry West, Dwayne Wade.
Jerry West his numbers, Yeah, he would and he got
to finals. He only won one, but he would get
there just about every year. He was the before Lebron.
Yeah he's one for nine in the final. But uh,
(50:59):
I think Jane was hardened, is on pace to challenge
the Wayne Wade for that fourth spot and maybe I mean, heck,
if he can lead Houston to a championship at some point,
good luck that he could even challenge Jerry West. I
mean some people might have Wade even listed above Jerry West,
(51:19):
and people needed the logo thing. I think, if I've
read the story right, it was just because it was
It was just because he was left handed and the
guy who was looking for a silhouette, you know what
I mean to make the logo they picked Jerry was.
It wasn't based off of like he was the best player. Yes,
but he was. He's one of those special players. I'm
(51:41):
not saying that, but I'm just saying that that really
wasn't how it was. It's not like the Major League
Baseball won. The guy is Harmon killer Brew because he's
the right handed hitter and the way they so you
see what I'm saying, like they took his likeness and
because of the way he held the bat it worked
inside of up a logo kind of thing like other
guys maybe had their bat up too high or so
(52:04):
so it didn't work. Should they change the NBA logo?
Absolutely to Michael Jordan. The jolly problem with that is
that is the job. I don't care. You'd probably have
to pay Nikes. I don't care. I would do it.
I think the league was taken to another level and
that would be the ultimate, the ultimate pay and the
ultimate uh homage, you know, to to Jordan to go
(52:26):
He's the best ever you could do. That would be
a great You could do shock, dunking, hold, hanging on
the ron't want, I want Jordans want agree Jordan would
be back. I don't think they can. And you could
do another one of Jordan. I mean he didn't you know.
It wouldn't have to be the jump man. I just
think that's who associated with Nikes. I don't care. I'm
just saying I know what you're saying, but that that's
(52:47):
the logo that people think of Michael Jordan and I
and above all that it's nice as on a sneaker,
but to give him that. If I was David Stern,
that would have been one of if before David Stern retired,
I always thought there was two things that Stern should
have done, and that was one, make that logo Jordan,
and number two I would have had like when he
(53:08):
was ready, like no one he's gonna retire. If I
was the NBA and I was Stern, one of my
legacies would have been I would have groomed an African
American to be the first African American commissioner of one
of the You know what I mean, Like I'm saying
like he had silver. He had silver there, but I
would have had a couple of guys. Tatum is in line,
(53:28):
he's the deputy com But I'm saying, I'm saying that
under silver, that would have been what I left if
I was if I was David Stern, a legacy silver
might be leaving because because I thought what you call it,
I really thought that bud Selick, but they didn't have
any but bud Selick might do it. Budd Cilick was
a part of, you know, making sure that Jackie Robinson
got his number retired by everybody, and they honored Jackie
(53:50):
Robinson and some of the stuff that was left behind,
you know what I mean. And it didn't happen, but
that's just something that I would have done, Like I said,
they could, you know, like I said, Mark tay him
a second in charge of the NBA. He's an African American,
and so maybe it'll happen because we never had a
black commissioner. No, no, So all right, you can weigh in.
What do you think about Chris Paul's comments on James Harden?
(54:13):
Is he the best offensive player of the last thirty years?
We will ask Eddie House about that and then you'll
get your chance to weigh in a little bit later.

did I? I mean points did you drop? I only
said I went five for eleven. I had thirteen. I
didn't think that much. Man. It sounds like y'all were

hey man. You always wiggle wiggle away in to kind
of shoot a shot somehow. You see how you gonna
get your shot off? See how he is? All right? Eddie? Look,
did we gonna start with Chris Paul? And I don't
know if you saw this comment he made about Okay,
(56:02):
James Harden best offensive player he's ever seen, just what
do you think, Rediculus? Come on, stop it, Chris Paul.
I know that's your teammate, but stop it. Come on,
you tell me a better offensive player than Jordan. I mean,
no disrespect to James at all. I think James is
a hell of a player, a hell of a score,
(56:22):
but a better offensive player than Kobe, no question. You're right, absolutely.
I'm just saying. I mean, you gotta I mean, stop it.
Come on, I mean, come on, stop it. I mean, Kareem,
that's another score. Come on, I mean, I mean you
can come on, stop it. We could just keep going
on and on. The list is long, and then we'll
get to James and you couldn't stop Kareem. Nobody can
(56:44):
stop him, right, That's what I'm saying. I mean, I
love James as you forks up. You know what I mean.
We we we sun devils for life, but we keep
it solid over here. We you know, we gotta keep
it a hunt. It what you make up? The Lakers
loss to the net. They were thirteen for forty from
three keep missing free throws? What is that gonna get corrected?
(57:08):
Or do they need help? As far as adding another shooter,
I mean, you can't get. You can't go wrong adding
another shooter. I definitely think they could get another shooter
that would just space the floor out a lot more
for Lebron to operate, for the guys that that create,
for others like Alonso, like like Rondo when he comes back,
I think he'll create more lanes if they could get
(57:29):
another shooter. But man, I think they're doing a hell
of a job or what they got right now. You
can't get better. You're always looking to get better. But
you know how those are. Man. You take a trip
to the EU in New York and playing week Brooklyn,
you know that's that can happen. What do you think
about all the talk that Anthony Davis is gonna end
up with the Lakers. I don't believe if you're the Lakers,
(57:51):
would you give up all the Ingram, Kuzma, Linzo, whoever
it took to get Anthony Davis. I wouldn't. I wouldn't
mortgage the future like that. Really now, I wouldn't mortgage
the future like that because you gotta think Lebron's window
it is not it's huge, it's not huge, And with
Anthony Davis's injuries, I wouldn't give everything up but there's
(58:13):
there's pieces that you can you could package together, and
I think you get you have to keep one of
those guys, though, I think two out of the three
that you name. You know, however you want to mix
it up. I think if you want to get Anthony Davis,
I would really want to hold on the Kuzma. Also,
I would want to hold on the Linzo because I
think I'm a believer in Linzo bar Like like the
way he plays, because he does get other guys involved.
(58:34):
His shot has got a lot better, like I knew
it would. But how do you think get rid of it?
Did you see those two bunnies he missed in that game?
Oh you just see that? Yeah? Well, I mean that
happens though, Rob. Come on, man, I'm just asking, that's all.
You ain't ever telling no bad jokes before? Has he
(58:54):
told any good jokes? All right? But how do you
think Lebron Anthony Davis would work together? Look, they're both
so great you figure it will work, but you know
they I don't think they're a perfect fit. I still
would do it, but I don't think they're a seamless fit.
You know, you you you you might be right there
on this on this hype. I think that Anthony Davis
(59:17):
is a ball stopper and Lebron doesn't need to play
with ball stoppers. I think that takes away from how
he plays and um and everybody else around him. You know,
you've been saying this forever. Chris Ron Lebron is the system.
There's not a sitty wherever he goes, that's the system
that's gonna be ran, and it's always usually ran through him.
And a lot of times, if you look at it,
ball stoppers is not conducive to his style or the
(59:40):
style of play that that that the team that he's
on is trying to accomplish. But I mean, they'll figure
it out. Believe me, it'll take It'll take a while
for them to get it together. Not a long time,
but they'll get it together. When you have two super
talented guys like that, guys that want to win, guys
that put time into their craw have to study film
(01:00:01):
and things like that, you're able to get over some
of the little obstacles that other players might not be
able to do because they're not as great as you
and don't pay as much to the details of the
game like these guys do. So it would work. It
might take a little while, but somebody's gonna have to
adjust a little bit of their game. What what team
right now has surprised you? It could be in a
(01:00:24):
positive light or negative light? Um Um, I don't know.
I Like I said, I'm not making a big deal
about the NETS six game winning streak, but they look
like they won their way to just an awful season
and somehow they won six. I'm just asking, I'm just asking,
is there a team out there negative? As I tell
(01:00:49):
you the team that I'm looking at different Nuggets. I mean,
do you look where they were at last year to
where they're at now? I mean, they just made leaps
and bounds and getting better each one of their players though.
That's the crazy thing about is all of their players
have got extremely better. They made a big jump this
year and that's why they're on top of it. You
don't usually expect those younger players to make that big
(01:01:12):
of jumps from year to year, like as big as
it is, usually is a little more gradual. But I mean,
I think they're playing real good basketball man, and they're tough,
tough to beat, especially at home. You already know that
it's the I couple. We're joined by NBA champion Eddie House.
The one question I have about Denver because you're right,
they look great and they've got you know, they're banged
(01:01:33):
up right now and they're still winning. Yo kitchen is awesome.
Obviously gonna be an All Star. But Eddie, I sometimes
wonder does he have enough dog in him to be
like the superstar, the best player, because he just something,
you know, he doesn't shoot a lot. I don't know
if he I know he's put up some big numbers recently,
(01:01:54):
but he seems sometimes reluctant to just take over the
game scoring wise. Am I off one that? No, But
I don't think that he has to. I don't think
that you have. I mean, in today's game, right the
center is almost you know, a dinosaur, you know what
I mean, almost think you know, you would think he's extinct,
but he's bringing it back. But he's different. He's a
(01:02:15):
past first type center, especially from like the elbow area,
to get guys involved. He'll take shots when he needs to,
but they got dogs on it, you know, just Jamal Murray.
He ain't no punk out there. He trying to get money.
So if he's deferring to another dog. Ain't nothing wrong
with that usually makes the right play and rebounds the basketball.
I think they have a good mix and that they're
(01:02:37):
cohesibmists that they got going on for for though that team,
I think it's perfect on another team like the Nets,
like Rob's Nets. Yeah, you would one yolks to be
more aggressive and try to take over games, but he
doesn't have to carry that load. What about Trey Yo,
give me an update on them. I'm obviously the Hawks
are not that good, but as he lived up to
(01:03:00):
the billing or where is he taking? Because he's had
a couple of big nights where people were like, see,
we knew he was gonna be that guy, and then
he's had some bad nights too. Where is he? I look,
I just looked at he has to get stronger. That's
the one thing. Everybody knew that coming in, and everybody
stopped the comparisons. He never compared himself to Steph Kurry
or any of these other guys, because look at what
(01:03:23):
he does. I think that he's able to set other
guys up, and I think he plays better when he
is passed first mentality and then get his get his
scorn and get hit his points after he gets everybody
else in ball because he just has a talent to
be able to pass the ball to guys to get
shot and make shots. So that hasn't went anywhere. He's
(01:03:45):
right on schedule for me, Andy, last question from me,
you talked about Denver. What do you think of Indiana?
I mean, they're playing great basketball. They've had some big wins.
I think they beat Milwaukee and Philadelphia recently. Do you
think that they could really be a fret in the
East or that they could be a threat. But do
I think they could beat Boston? No? Um, will they
(01:04:07):
give Philly or Jimmy, you know, everybody healthy. That's gonna
be a tough one too. But I do think Nate
mc miller is doing a great job out there. Victor
Oladipo since that it has just elevated his game to
a whole nother level. He had so much confidence out
there on the court. I think that they're one of
those teams that if you if you take them for granted,
(01:04:30):
they will catch you slipping and before you know it,
you might not be able to climb out that hole
you dug yourself. So there are they're gonna be a
dangerous team in the playoffs. But can they beat Boston?
I still don't think so. Can they beat Toronto? I
still don't. I know they can't be Toronto. I don't
believe they could be Boston and Philadelphia. It all depends
on on how Philadelphia their mindset when they come out.
(01:04:52):
Oladipo beat Lebron last year. If the referees didn't give
Lebron that that gold old remember that, I remember, I
remember that. But hey, referee's mistake. We just looked at
James Harden take twenty five three point They went to
(01:05:13):
the thing to review if it was a three point shot.
They watched the travel happened him. That's crazy, it is, Hey, hey,
thirty seconds. What about Bradley Bill? Will will he be traded?
And if he does, what do you think he's gonna
wind up? You know, I have no idea. He has
to fit in the I think Bradley Bill has to
be in the right situation. It has to be the
right team. I didn't think LA was the right spot
(01:05:35):
for him. When everybody was talking, maybe they trying to
do something for Bradley Bill when I was hearing those things.
But um, I don't know Washington. Washington is a funny team, man,
because they give you nights where they place like you're like, okay,
that's what that's the team I know. And then they
just I don't did They just disappear at times so
that I don't know if there's something going on in
(01:05:56):
that locker room or what. But they just can't be consisted.
And as far as Bradley Bill, he's a great talent,
a really good suitor, but where does he fit in
at and who does he fit in with? So I
couldn't give you that answer, all right, Eddie, great always man. Hey,
Marry Christmas to you. Marry Christmas man, y'all take care
(01:06:17):
man and have a good one all right, holidays and
be safe all right, brother Ali, to see you soon.
All right, More of the I couple coming up, but
first let's get to Dab Carson for the latest in sports. Well,
you have a whole plethora of guys going on the IR.
Cam Notton, Cam Newton not one of them. The Panthers
quarterback not gonna play this coming week because of his
(01:06:38):
shoulder injury, but they are not ready to put him
on the IR just yet. Dalkins running back DeVante Freeman
is going on injured reserve because of his knee injury.
Detroit Free Press broke the news that the Lions have
put running back Carrie on Johnson on IR because of
his knee injury, and the dolphinsive place running back Frank
Gore on IR because of his foot injury. Also news
from the NFL the Raiders are signing quarterback Nathan petermanute
(01:07:00):
to their practice squad, so he is employed once again.
That was a big question. College hoops, North Carolina gave
basketball coach at Roy Williams an extension through twenty twenty eight.
It will be seventy seven years old. Do you have
an NBA action currently underway? In Charlotte the Hornets with
a sixty six sixty four lead over the Cavaliers four
thirty to go third quarter, four to go third quarter.
(01:07:22):
In Orlando, Spurs ripping the Magic eighty seven sixty two.
LaMarcus Aldridge with seventeen points right now for San Antonio
six ers up by ten over the Knicks eighty three
seventy three with six to go in the third halftime.
In Boston, Celtics lead the Sons sixty two fifty nine
and the Raptors trailing the Pacers fifty seven forty eight
lead for Indiana at Toronto late in the second quarter.
(01:07:45):
Seeing your check engine line on can be stressful. The
AutoZone Fixed Finder service will help you troubleshoot the problem
for free. See stores for restrictions and details. Currently underway,
we have the DXL Frisco Bowl right now, and Ohio
leads San Diego State three nothing, eighteen seconds to go
in the first quarter. And guys also some baseball news.
(01:08:07):
Manny Machado visiting the Phillies tomorrow and today. In his
meeting with the Yankees, he was asked to explain his
postseason antics and comments, according to Philly dot Com that
he was not Charlie Hussel and what he and what
he say, I didn't mean it. I want to well,
he didn't do the backtrack, remember a couple of weeks
(01:08:28):
ago and said, you know, I'm not a fake hustle guy.
You know I'm not gonna I'll hustle when something's on
the line, but I'm not one of these guys who
pretends to He he justotched it. He cost himself tens
of millions of Yeah, I mean he's still gonna get paid. Yeah,
but he I think he costs himself some money. He
might he might have eliminated a couple of people might have,
(01:08:49):
you know, buyed for a service. Not agree with that? Exactly?
What do you want lost money? No, he'll get I
mean he's gonna get He might get three hundred million
instead of three forty, but he's still gonna get through Hell,
he's gonna get his exactly. All right, are almost ready
for the hot seat? Absolutely sure? Yeah? Bringing us some
crazy top all right, It is the Eye Couple, Chris
(01:09:13):
brus Sard and Rob Parker, and we're coming to you
live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy
to say fifteen percent or more on your car insurance
with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or call eight
hundred nine four seven Auto. The only hard part is
figuring out which way is easier. And we were talking
with Eddie House and then amongst ourselves about who is
(01:09:36):
Chris Paul right that James Harden is the best offensive
player in the last thirty years. If not him, then
who give us a call? You want to weigh in
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three, sixty nine. But Rob, we
(01:09:57):
also start talking about Lebron the GM, and we know
he's mentioned Carmelo Anthony, but he also mentioned someone else.
He it was brought to him. He wasn't tampering, but
he was asked, what would he like Anthony Davis? What
are you doing? No, I don't want Anthony Davis. And
you know what I'm saying, No, you don't say that.
(01:10:17):
Oh you didn't like his quote. I just thought it
would be amazing. Being crab, I think it was fine.
What's wrong with it to just mention another player who's
playing right now on a different team just sounds kind
of would have been better. I give you what I'm saying,
or I can't yeah right now, But I'm not upset.
(01:10:38):
I'm not that upset about better. But I mean, he
just said the logical you know what I would have said.
I mean, you're saying, you're talking about the guy who
played in New Orleans, who we're playing tomorrow night. Your
issue is it could bother your teammates. Yes, if you
get him somebody else's gone, it would be amazing. Yourself
(01:11:00):
saying yeah, I'd love to have him in somebody in
the stretching room right now, we'll have to go for
me to get him. So if I was asked like Chris,
would you what you and Colin Cowherd, If Colin Cowhard
Kurt could join the show, I'm like, oh, that'd be amazing,
So what do you think? Right? And then I feel like,
chop liver right right right now? I get it. That's
(01:11:21):
a good point. That's a good point. That's all I'm saying.
You know, with Lebron, I hope it doesn't happen because
I get tired of it, to be honest, But when
is the last season Lebron had that was drama free?
I mean, honestly, no, there's always gonna be drama with him.
That's just I would say his last year in Cleveland
(01:11:41):
the first go round, but because through the season was
smooth sailing, but then in the Boston series when he
struggled at the end and trauma. So really that's not
last nine season. There's been something. It's it's gotten to
a point where it's almost like it it feels like
(01:12:02):
is it man your facture? Does he even need it?
I know in Cleveland a lot of for a lot
of those years, the front office is second go round
in Cleveland, they felt like, Remember they would always say,
we need we're not we don't handle success, well, we
need adversity. I mean, they won their championship down three
one and so, but I just think it would be
(01:12:24):
better if you're Lebron. You don't have to You know
this Christ everything's calculated, you don't. I think he did
it no right, But you don't have to respond just
because somebody asked me about Anthony Davis. I would just
be like, uh, the guy we're playing in a couple
of nights here, who's on the team and are in
(01:12:44):
the Western Conference. Uh No, I just don't. I don't
talk about other guys. I played the best way, is
why you said? Just um, no comment, no comment. I'm
not I'm not talking about that right right, all right,
let's get to some of the callers. Ray in Texas,
you want to weigh in on James Harden. Welcome to
the Eye Couple. Hey, guys in Jordan's show. Hey, when
(01:13:09):
they're talking about these scores, this is all I want
people to remember the amount of rule chains that's happened
over the years that allows a James Harden's game to
even exist. He could not play that way in the
in the in the eighties, in the nineties, just because
of the freedom of movement rooms. If they've moved, that
allows these players to get away with stuff that they
(01:13:29):
would have to get away with. You had Jordan's and
Dominique Wilkinson, Team Elija one is all these guys. So
twenty five thirty points a game while getting beat up
James Harden. James Harden's game couldn't sustain in an environment
like that. And remember, you can't touch anybody defensively now,
(01:13:49):
can't touch an I'm saying, look, he would be great,
but he wouldn't be this dom and hound the ball
for you know, the guys didn't play that way can
be allowed to happen. So I mean, I think he's
a great player for today's game with the rule sets
(01:14:10):
of today, but in overall basketball, so you don't think
he's an all time great. Um No, he is an
all time great. His playoff record is spotty, but he's
an all time great. He would adjust, he would be great.
And you know what I will say this if you
go back to that. Okay, see, I know he crapped
(01:14:30):
out in the Western Conference finals, but before that, the
first two rounds with okay se when it was the
three of them, pardon Duran and Westbrook. Do you remember him? Yeah?
He was outstanding. He was He's a great. He is
a great. Step back threees, you remember that. I mean
he was really really good. He's a great. Let's go
to William in Virginia. You're on the odd Couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, William? How are you doing today? Right? Um?
(01:14:55):
I don't feel like he's better than kd On, Steph
on James right now. And I ain't gonna talk about
Jordan and Kobe right now. That's a that's a fair point. Yeah,
I'm with you. You're writing the money, all right, Mark
and Sacramento, you're on with the odd couple. What's up, gentlemen?
What's happening? Not a whole lot? Chris Paula lost his mind.
(01:15:18):
I'm in my sixties. I could probably name five off
the top of my head that are better than James Harden.
That's not taking anything away from James Harden, right, I
think he got caught up in the moment and just
you know, he's your teammate and all that. But I'm
with you. I think it's like way over the top.
I've seen Bernard King before lead, I've seen Iceman Man.
There's so many guys that just score. I would not
(01:15:41):
put Bernard King ahead of James Harden. He didn't play
long enough, but he was before before he tore us
me up. That guy could score many ways anybody ever
sin he was any problem. Now I agree, but he
look James Harden again. You're absolutely right. Chris Paul is
off his rocker. But James hardness phenomenal. No, there's no doubt.
(01:16:01):
But I'll tell you better than Bernard. Bernard King was
a hell of it. He was great and if he
and Patrick you'd been together, maybe New York would have
had a ring. But I can't put him. He once
went on a three game Texas road trip Harden, and
he scored fifty points fifty plus in all three and
then that day Chris fifty points three stops in Texas.
(01:16:25):
That was amazing. He was great and he was good.
And fast break too. That movie with Gabe Catha, that's right,
Welcome back Carter, Welcome back Carter? Yeah, all right? Was
he was he in the Fish to save Pittsburgh? Or no, no,
that was doctor or Jay Star That yeah, all time
great movie. Yeah, but as a kid it was great
because it was Doctor Jay all right. James Harden is
(01:16:46):
far from the greatest offensive player in NBA history, But
I will tell you who is. It's Bruce Sard's Big six.
Coming up next, it's the Eye Couble Fox Sports Radio.
When do you want to spot that burglar when he's

with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific. All right, I told you it's time
for Bruce ARD's Big Six. Are you ready? Pick the heat?
(01:18:21):
Like lepron, We're going big. It's gown, It's Bruce Sard's
Big Six. All right. I hope CEP three Chris Paul
is listening. He just sparked my interest. And who are
the best six offensive players that I've ever seen? All right,
that I've seen. I didn't see will all right, but
that I've ever seen? All right? Here they go. Number
(01:18:45):
six Kevin Durant, seven footer, can handle, can shake you
up off the dribble, dunk on you finishing the mid range.
Obviously shoot the trey. Gotta go with ad. Number five
Larry Legend. Larry Bird was a tremendous passer in addition
(01:19:08):
to being a great score you can look at his
three point percentages all year one. He still was like
thirty seven thirty eight percent from three, even though they
didn't shoot it a lot. If he was in the
day's game, he was Darnee's good of a shooter. Steph
Curry and the great passer Bird was phenomenal. Number five,
number four, number four, Lebron James. I know it's not cute,
(01:19:32):
I know it's not pretty. I know it's like a
Matt truck. But the bottom line is he is effective
and of course he's a great passer. He and Larry
Bird the best passing forwards this game has ever seen.
And he's efficient. Lebron James. Number four, number three, Steph Curry.
(01:19:53):
This dude, six feet three inches tall has changed basketball,
not just the NBA basketball period. We've never seen anybody
with this type of range out to thirty five feet.
He is the best shooter in NBA history. He is
the lynchpin, the straw that stirs the drink, the engine
(01:20:14):
of arguably the best team in NBA history. Kareem Abdul Jabbar,
the all time leading scorer in basketball, had the most
unstoppable shot in history. Yes, I'm talking about the skyhook.
Here's how great he was. At thirty eight and thirty
(01:20:36):
nine years old, he was averaging twenty three points a game.
Twenty three points a game at thirty eight, thirty nine
years old. He was forty when he won his last ring,
and the go to guy at forty, that's how unstoppable
he was. Number one. You know who it is, the
g to the O eight, none other than Michael Jeffrey Jordan.
(01:20:58):
Let me tell you something about Jordan, Chris Paul. He
averaged thirty seven points a game one year on forty
eight percent shooting. That's efficient, forty eight percent, thirty five
points a game on fifty three and a half percent
shooting fifty three and a half. Then gave your thirty two,
eight and eight another year on fifty three percent shooting
(01:21:19):
fifty three percent shooting. Led the league in scoring ten
straight years, ten ten straight Lebron's only done it once.
When Michael Jordan came into the league. They thought you
couldn't lead the league in scoring and be a dynasty.
Larry Bird never led the league. They thought that was
the last. Will never led the league in scoring when
he won his two championships. Michael Jordan changed conventional wisdom.
(01:21:41):
That's the list. I look regrets, Alan Iverson, Kobe Bryant.
I'm sorry they you know I wanted to fit them in,
but I couldn't. I could put Iverson in. No, No,
I know my hand draft this because you got going
the way he was to get it. Any critique of
(01:22:02):
the list, I almost asked Steph ahead of Kareem. I'm
glad you didn't do that. I think Kareem gets passed
over all the time, and it ain't right. The guy
was an unstoppable force. I'm I'm always surprised no one
copied his shot. Nobody could block. Now, it's ridiculous, ridiculous.
All right, I couple Chris and Robe one more hour
(01:22:24):
keeping locked. I am Chris Brussard alongside Rod Parker, and
we are the odd couple. We're coming to you live

(01:22:47):
to get to your favorite topic, the Pro Bowls snubs.
That's yours. You're the one all bent out of shape,
not been out of shape. That's not right, It's not right.
These are honors mean something, But Chris, I'm just let
me stay my, I'm just gonna stay all right. I'm
(01:23:09):
perturbed by and I've defended tom Brady all year because
I think he's still playing well enough to give that
team a chance to the Pro Bowl. And I think
he's having a better year than Aaron Rodgers. But yeah,
he should not have made the Pro Bowl over Andrew Luck.
I'm not That one doesn't bother me as much as
(01:23:30):
Aaron Rodgers making the Pro Bowl over Russell. Why tom
Brady has his numbers? His numbers are better than Aaron
rod Can I give you this from from the wins
to the individual numbers, they're better. But can I give
me the little two interception thing because he throws the
ball out of bounds every three snaps. I'm gonna gie
only has two interceptions. No, he does it. I'm gonna
give this just better tom Brady, tom Brady, tom Brady.
(01:23:54):
I'm sorry tom Brady can do that. No tom Brady can.
Who's got more touchdowns? Wait a minute, hit me out,
hit me out. Tom Brady is going to miss about
five million dollars in performance bonuses this season. What's that
got to hit with the pre But I'm just trying
to tell you that he had all these stuff like
he took a paid cup and he had all these
(01:24:15):
incentives with numbers. Okay, all right through fourteen games, Brady,
he has to crack the top five in five different
categories and he gets a million dollars for each. So
so far this year, he's only in the top five
in one of those categories, which is passing yards, where
he's fifth by just a few yards, so it only
(01:24:36):
means that he could drop out of that. Currently, he
ranks twelfth in passer rating, seventeenth in completion percentage, tenth
in yards per temph, and eleventh in touchdown passes. Tom Brady,
I get it shouldn't be in the Pro Bowl either,
but I'm telling you, Chris, we saw the Pro Bowl
doesn't really matter. Look at the end of the day,
(01:24:57):
is it a huge d No? But it does matter
the game itself. No, I couldn't care less about the game.
Just say this because I've been wanting to say this
for a while. Notice what I said. You don't like me? No, noice.
What I said, I couldn't care less. Okay, everybody says
(01:25:20):
I could care less. Well, when you say you could
care less, it means you really, it really is bothering me, right,
it really you really care a lot. So it's I
couldn't care less, I could not care less. Just that's
a little tangent, all right. I understand what you're saying, right,
because people always say it a better one. I hear
(01:25:42):
professional announcers on television when they talk about teams. It's
about it and there you know, right, that's a good one.
That's botched all the time. And they'll say, Michigan, Michigan wins,
the Michigan wins, there their third game in a row.
Michigan doesn't win their third game in a row. Michigan
(01:26:04):
wins it's third game in a row. And the Wolverines
win their right third game in a row. And you
know why we know that, right because the writers, we're writers, yep.
But that that's that's messed up all the time by
big time, big time national announcers. Get that, yeah, no question,
no question. But back to time, Bread wins. I don't
(01:26:25):
care that I'm not saying. I mean, I'm making the
point that he shouldn't have been a pro bowler this
year should have been Andrew Luck. But I don't care
that he's not reaching his individual incentives. You know what
I care about Rob Parker? What is that that he's nine?
And what are they? Nine and five and on their
way to the playoffs once again? They're not going? Are
(01:26:48):
you ready to say you want to double double or nothing?
The little wings? But I'm gonna eat your wings first.
I'm sorry, I'm not letting you weez alout. Would have
double or nothing? What then you you don't have to
get You know that Tom Brady's gonna get his team
to the playoffs. I don't know a Rodgers did not do.
If they lose to Buffalo on the Jets at home
and don't make it, I might not gonna. I might.
(01:27:10):
I might take you out for wings just because now
it would be that would be incredible if they lost
two games teams, No, it would be, that would be incredible,
and it would it would essentially be like all right,
time it's time to retire. That would be it was terrible,
like if he plays poorly, then yeah, it would really
(01:27:31):
would that would officially be like its now I don't
know if he would stop, but it would be time.
But Aaron Rodgers robbed and look sitting beside you, you
know you love Aaron Rodgers so much. Come off like
a hater. I just feel like I'm dropping facts. Aaron
Rodgers did not have a Pro Bowl season. Russell Wilson
(01:27:55):
is having a Pro Bowl season, a better season than
Aaron Rodgers. He's running the ball better, He's thrown for
way more touchdowns. His team is still in the playoff. Hunt.
I mean, it's it, and you're right, at the end
of the day, it's not changing the world. But these
are honors that do matter. I'm glad you did come
(01:28:15):
around to me. I've always been there, I mean because because,
but it does. It does matter, though it matters to
the players. Look, I want you. You played sports. You
still want to be an All Star, you want to
be an right and it made you feel good and
if you didn't, you felt a certain way, especially if
(01:28:37):
you deserve it. It's one thing if it's just your
pride and your ego, and yeah, I want to be there,
but when you deserve it, you should get it. And Rob,
I get that the greats are gonna make it the
Hall of Fame no matter what. Because but there are
other guys that you know are really good or maybe great,
but they're not as high a level, and to them,
(01:29:00):
the difference between getting in the Hall of Fame could be, oh,
he only made two Pro Bowls versus Wow, he made
five Pro Bowls. If you're deserved to make five Pro Bowls,
I think you should. That's all I'm saying. I understand
it's never going to be what we think it is.
One thing is like doing math, two and two is four, right,
(01:29:20):
no matter who's doing the math, Chris, there's no debate, right.
But when you start talking about players and what they
mean to their team and whether or not they should
be Pro Bowlers and all that other stuff, whenever you
open it up to other people's interpretation of what it
is and what makes that person. Because I'm telling you
right now, there were coaches and players when they got
(01:29:42):
the list, they automatically put Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady
right because they look at the stats. No, they did
not look at the stats. They like Aaron of course,
he's a Pro bowler, one of the best quarterbacks I've
ever seen. Tom Brady's got five Super Bowls. Of course
he's won, and that's what happens. I agree. And the
thing is, it's hard to just blame fans because fans
(01:30:04):
only make up thirty three percent of the voting and
players and coaches. But but we we've seen this, Chris,
when it comes to players in the NBA. We saw
it with Lebron. When they started giving the players the
right to vote. What do they do? They don't even
what you call it. They didn't like forty or fifty
players didn't even vote for Lebron James. I mean, players
(01:30:29):
lobbied for the right to vote for the NBA all
and then just just and they even have their own awards,
the Players Awards, which that is a little better, you know,
that's that seems more legitimate they take you know, why
don't you know why I don't. I don't think so
you don't like the players will know. And I'm gonna
say from this standpoint, when you're involved, then then people
(01:30:50):
see it's always should be voted from people who are
not in the business or whatever. It's just like journalism
awards or you know, like because well, I don't really
like Chris Bussar because he snubbed me when we were
out of Knicks game in nineteen nine, do you know
what I'm saying. And players are petty like that too,
(01:31:11):
but they like people, don't like people, whereas I think
sometimes to be objective where you don't have an act
to you don't you don't have anything. I just think
you respect that award a little bit more, you make
that makes sense. I'm not a I don't have a
problem with the players having their awards. I think it's
kind of cool because you all, we all like to
be recognized by our peers, right, And players are the
(01:31:35):
one thing I will give them if they take it seriously.
I think they can do a good job. Like I
know when I'm a player, if I'm guarding you or
if I'm boxing you out, I know how tough you
really no doubt the writers sitting there. And obviously I'm
a writer sitting there, so I'm not bashing us. But
(01:31:56):
I'm the writer. I'm not out there. I don't hear
the guy went when you elbow him in the stomach
or or whatever. You know what I mean. But here,
here's what you know. If the dude is really tough,
here's my argument against when And I'm a Baseball Hall
of Fame voter, I'm gonna I just sent in my
ballot up. Eventually I'll expose it and let everybody know
(01:32:17):
who I voted for. We'll get to that point, maybe
um before you leave end of the week or something.
We'll see. But but my point is when you look
at the Baseball Hall of Fame. We just saw two
guys get in right, Harold Baines and Lee Smith, and
people go, what know, they want to ballot for fifteen
years and my Harold Bainess, he because he condn't get
(01:32:42):
it up right or something like right one or two.
But but my point is when you look at the
questionable guys who are in the Hall of Fame, guess
who They all came from the Veterans Committee of former
players and coaches. And that's what I'm saying. I like
a guy so so oh you know he was my teammate. Yeah,
and he's my God's guy father than my son. That's
(01:33:04):
what I'm saying. So what happens is these guys wind
up dropping the standards because they know people personally or
they like them. Well. Look, the greatest example was last
year's All Star voting for the NBA all right, Spencer Dinwiddie,
who's a good young player, just he's not an All Star, right,
(01:33:27):
and he certainly wasn't an All Star last year? No, no, no,
he got eight votes. Eight votes in the All Star team.
Chris Dunne got six. I mean it was a joke.
Joe Harris who Joe Harris got two? Ron Baker got
two votes. I mean, come on, don't I don't want
(01:33:50):
to hear players talking about the media of this, the
media that when you get a chance to vote for
something serious like the All Star Game and you make
a joke out of you. It was something like one
hundred and fifty one players or something got votes for
the All Star Team. How in the world. Kyle O'Quinn
got four votes, Tyler Zeller got four votes. I mean, seriously,
(01:34:15):
what did they have for Lebron? Did they have? Lebron
had like two hundred two twenty We had two twenty
and then four hundred playsure two hundred and thirty players
didn't vote for Lebron James to be an All Star,
not a starter, not the captain when the team, I mean, godly,
that's unbelievable. So so that's why, and again I think
(01:34:41):
that played a role, only a thirty three percent role,
but in the all in the Pro Bowl voting. Again,
not the end of the world. The game certainly doesn't matter.
But I take honors seriously. When I see that a
guy was a five time All Star or a six
time All NBA, or or a four time All Pro
(01:35:02):
or three time Pro Bowler, it means something, especially when
you guys you didn't see as much, or you were young,
you know, whatever the case may be. I just think
it's an exhibition. I understand that you feel good, you're
you're recognized, but if you're gonna take it seriously, these
the guys who are voting, or your peers and coaches,
that's sixty seven percent of the vote, and players have
(01:35:24):
to realize that it does matter in your contract negotiations. Yeah,
just then, I just you just when I tell you
about Tom Brady, yep, right, about about the incentives and whatnot,
and different some guys get a Richard Sherman had a
million dollar payout if he made the Pro Bowl. Yep,
you didn't make it. Yep? All right? Does making the
Pro Bowl still matter? Or is it all much ado
(01:35:48):
about nothing? We also, let's let's throw out the NBA
call again too with Harden, and you know who you
think are better, maybe some of the best or the
best of the players of all time. We know everybody
gonna say Jordan, but no addition to him, say Jodan
eight seven seven ninety nine eight seven seven nine nine
(01:36:08):
six sixty three sixty nine. If you want to weigh
in on either of those two points, we will continue
the conversation with you. Next, it's the Eye Couple Fox

say who it is, but friend of mine today told
me he was buying his wife a Bentley truck, and
I'm just can you imagine getting that for you for
your Christmas present? Oh he's a he's a rich friend.
(01:37:58):
But can you imagine getting that like the wife when
she gets it on Christmas? And that's awesome. That's awesome.
That is awesome. That's awesome that I was in awe
when he said it. That's amazing. Former former athlete age
seven seven. All right, we asked you. We gave our opinion.
Chris Paul's office rocker if he thinks James Harden is
(01:38:21):
the best offensive player of his lifetime the last thirty years.
Let's see what you think. Eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox. Let's start with Matthew in Knoxville. Matthew, Welcome
to the Eye Couple. It's a pleasure to beer. Chris.
Just want to say I respect all the stuff you
do off the air, off of journalism. I've been following
your career for a while. Pleasure to be on with you.
(01:38:43):
Thank you, I appreciate it. Only answer is Tracy McGrady.
I was watching obviously grew up watching him play. But
he did two videos with Jalen Brown this offseason at
his house showing Jalen Brown how to think about offense,
how to get open, how to create space, separate. Their
brother can still play, and even just the jumper of
(01:39:04):
the elevation, the kicking his leg. I mean, it was
just the thing of beauty to watch him score points.
So Grady was phenomenal. I gotta admit, though, Rob, I
don't know if i'd take him over James Harden. I mean,
obviously Harden's had more playoffs success. McGrady never won a
playoff series. McGrady was for a good five six years.
(01:39:28):
He was in the top five players in the league.
Oh No, he was a special player, and I think
people thought that he was going to take it a
different place, but it never happened in the postseason, so
that was part of it. Allan and Kentucky, you're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Alan? Hey, guys,
thanks for taking my call. First of all, I want
to tell you I appreciate the show. I really enjoy
(01:39:48):
the counterpoint because you're right, it does make for good
sports radio. Thank you, buddy. And I didn't when I
heard the question. I didn't catch the thirty years. But
I'm gonna throw a couple of names at you and
you guys can take it from there. All right, As
far as the most best offensive player, and he's got
the rings to back it up, and he was absolutely
(01:40:10):
Unstoppable's got to be the captain. Nah, It's hard for
anybody to really argue, I think he gets to short
and to the stick a lot, because I don't know
why people don't respect his game, championships, all the stuff
that Kareem he had an unbelievable shot that couldn't be stopped,
and he should warm He should legitimately be in the
(01:40:32):
goat conversation. Now we both think it's Jordan, but Kareem
should be in it, and he can talk to a
lot of players from that era or before, A lot
of them say Kareem is the goat. All right, let's
go to guy in the Lancaster. Guy, you're on with
Chris and Rob. Hey, you guys are the bomber. You
know what, I really enjoy the fact you've got some
(01:40:53):
great guests like Rod Woodson and Warren Moon. Last Thursday
was awesome. Thanks guy. What about Dominique Wilkins. I saw
that can't do some crazy stuff, But you know what,
that dude was awesome. He was. He was certainly a
better dunker than a little human highlight film. But no,
(01:41:15):
I don't think he was better than James, No, no, no,
but but but he was in his own right. That's
why his nickname was a human highlight film, right, yep,
and and he was spectacular. No. I covered to the
NBA during a lot of his career, and you know
a lot of people and look, this is the way
it works. But he's probably not given as much love.
(01:41:35):
Obviously he's a Hall of Famer on that, but he's
not giving as much love because he didn't win. You know,
but think about who he had to go through in
that era, Bird, the Piston, then Jordan, you know, I
mean he had some He was overmatched against these different teams,
no doubt about it. Jeff in Iowa, you're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Jeff, Hey,
(01:41:56):
thanks for call um. I'm a huge Jordan's but and
I do not like the nick but you guys are
forgetting about Bernard King. He was incredible. I watched Bernard King.
I grew up in New York when he was I
wasn't a reporter then, I was a fan. You know
what I mean. When Bernard King played and I'm joining him,
(01:42:17):
you think he's buried than James harden Util they got hurt.
He wouldn't have got hurt. He would have happened. He
was one of the great pure scores, no doubt but
I can't put him over. He had that baseline jumper.
Oh yeah, right, Jeff with a quick release on the
baseline was he was amazing. I just wish he had
(01:42:38):
stayed healthy. For one, what we would have seen him
do individually, but him and Patrick Ewing New York dying
for that title that may have might have been Let's
go to Durst in Houston, Durst, what's happening man? Welcome
to the eye couple, Chris rob what's going on? Look
for for I'm gonna mesch him up with Harden. But
(01:42:58):
you left the King Elijawan out who obliterated the so
called him unstoppable. Shack O Keen was unstoppable. That's a
good dream. The dream gets left out as well. Yeah,
that's a good car. And as far as hardened, Nate
the skate Archibald, you got a left hand. Both of
him are left handed and hardened today. I don't think
(01:43:20):
what Nate had to put up with during the rules
that he had to put up with he left the
league and scoring and assist Nate. Nate's similar to Bernard
in that the injuries derailed him. Nate only had like
four really great seasons because of the health factor, and
uh he came back though, played in Boston, won a
(01:43:42):
title with them running the point guard being a little
more of a past verse, you know, point guard running offense.
So good for him. All right, Scott, we got one more. Yeah,
Scott and san Antonio. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Scott? Yeah? Two? Well these
are both of them are pushing thirty a bit. One
obviously I think that could uh be right there in
the conversation. Is ice Man as a score? Yeah? And
(01:44:07):
the other one who I wouldn't put him in that level.
But when I he was such a great score and
scored so easy, was Alex English. I just thought he
was a beautiful score. He was, and he played in
those Denver teams used to fill it up, score a
lot of point in Keke Vanderway. Keke Vanderway was another
great shooter. Yeah. English was just smooth, you know, finesse player,
(01:44:28):
tremendous mid rain shooter. Yeah he was. I was right.
Didn't put him on the level of some of these
guys above him, but in that next tier he was
a great player. There was a story about that. I
don't know you ever hear that was Kareem old Alex
English money or something, and they served him with papers
on the bench. I did, yeah, Yeah, Karee came to
(01:44:52):
Denver and he old Alex money was right right, And
they're sitting there Kareem abdul jabar, Yes the paper, I
did hear that. That's a funny story. All right, get
the paramedics on standby. R I couple teammate Dab Harson.
Dab Carson is about to get into the hot seat
(01:45:12):
called a deb Harson because she's gonna get burned. Right,
She's gonna get burned. She's gonna be in ashes. It's
gonna be smoked coming out of the room. Dad. We're sorry, Dad,
We apologize in advanced see how you hey, Dab put
on a flame? Retard a flame, retard win win? Oh?
Why are you coming here? How about this? Uh? This jacket?
Will that? Dude? My couple jacket over my head? Is that?
(01:45:35):
Don't wear ya? Jacket's gonna be unwearable. It's gonna be unrecognizable. Alrighty,
all right, I'll tell you what. Let's there are some
games that are a final in the NBA. We've got
the Hornets with one ten ninety nine win over the Cavaliers, Kimba,
Mark Walker with thirty points for Charlotte Spurs one at
Orlando one twenty nine ninety and the Sixers with a
(01:45:56):
one thirty one one O nine win over the next.
Joel and Bede twenty four points, ten rebounds for the Sixers.
Another NBA and news Miami Heat guard Gore and Dragic
having surgery today. He did have surgery today. He's gonna
be out two months. The franchise is hoping to have
him back by around the All Star break. College hoops,
(01:46:16):
North Carolina gave Roy Williams an extension through twenty twenty eight.
We do have college football underway as well, and it
is at the half at the DXL Frisco Bowl, Ohio,
with a seventeen nothing lead over San Diego State. Again,
they are at the half. Earlier today, coach Ron Rivera
of the Panther said they're not going to put Cam
Newton on the IR but Newton is effectively done for
(01:46:38):
the season. They want to sit him and give his
shoulder time to rest since they are essentially out of
the playoff picture. Aaron Rodgers, though not given up hope,
Packers quarterback says he's going to play Sunday at the
Jets and Chargers. Receiver Keenan Allen returned to practice today
from his hip injury. Dolphins running back Frank Gore though
not coming back. He's on IR with his foot injury. Guys, Hey,
(01:47:00):
your check engine light come on? Can be stressful. The
AutoZone Fixed Finder service will help you troubleshoot the problem
for free. C store for restrictions and details. Back to you,
all right, dav thanks a lot. It is the I
couple of Christ and Rob. We're coming to you live
from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy to
say fifteen percent or more in your car inshures with Geico.
(01:47:22):
Go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine
four seven Auto. The only hard part is figuring out
which way is easier. Here we go. It's the hot seat.
Damn sun. The current temperature beyond. Couple are making it
hot in here, damn hot. Don to sit your butt
down in the hot seat. Yes, sir, it is the
(01:47:45):
hot seat. The couple of Fox Sports Radio, the most
controversial segment in all of sports. Yes, now, gentlemen, normally
when we have a hot seat, Rookie on the show.
They like to switch it to make sure that one
of you guys in the hot seat, you know, because
they want to get an ease into it. Deb Carson
is not one of those, not at all. She's ready
(01:48:09):
to take on the Yah couple, both of you at
the same time. She's not scared, you all know, Dev Carson. Hey, Deb, Hey, guys,
I'm frightened. All right, guys, you know this one works.
Dev is gonna defend three of her hottest takes against
(01:48:29):
both of you. You guys got thirty seconds each to respond.
Let's get started. Take number one, Dev Carson. She says
that female reporters and male reporters neither one should be
allowed in locker rooms. Deb, you got thirty seconds. Stay
your case, all right. I knew I'm gonna get beat
up on this one because I've got two career long
reporters in the other room. But I've heard my entire
(01:48:51):
career women don't belong in the locker room, mostly because
they say, you know, there's the potential for harassment, which
is true because there are a lot of athletes who
like to pull the immature, drop the towel at the
inopportune time. But you know most women are professional and
just looking in the eye and no worries. And also,
obviously there's the privacy issues. If we're going to consider
the privacy issues of female athletes, we should do the
(01:49:13):
same for male athletes as well. I don't think that
female reporters or male reporters should be allowed in the
locker room. Obviously. That's it's that's thirty seconds. That's the
cow all right, damn you know, look, I get a rebuttal, right, yeah,
I know. You gotta let reporters in the locker room.
I mean, that's where we do our job, like to be.
(01:49:36):
The readers want the inside scoop. They want to know
what these guys are like. They want to know what
the relationships are like. And some of these things you
can only get in the locker room. The relationships you
build with these guys when you're just talking with them
before a game, after a game, that can only happen
in the locker room. And I'm gonna be honest, because
(01:49:57):
I get what you're saying about guys dropping towels and stuff.
And by twenty years covering the NBA, I've seen only
a handful of God's nick exactly okay, but here's the
thing I didn't get to my point at the very end.
I think there should be a cooling off period. I
think there needs to be about a twenty minute time
everybody gets a chance to take their showers, regroup. I've
heard the argument that, no, we want to get in
there right away. We want the emotion, we want the
(01:50:17):
quote that's gonna, you know, get us notoriety because the
guy says something stupid and gets himself in hot water.
I think they deserve the respect to have just a
little cooling off time. Go in the locker room after
everybody's dressed, after everybody's shower, and then get your scoop tab.
I'm so disappointed because when they take that shower, they
(01:50:38):
wash off all the emotion and the raw stuff that
you do get right after a game. And the other
part is I wish people would stop doing this. You
don't go to journalism school to see guys naked. No,
this whole idea is ridiculous. It would be like a doctor,
a female doctor not looking out of patient because he's male,
(01:50:58):
that she didn't go to medical school to see people naked.
That go there to help. You're a journalist. It has
nothing to do with that. That's just a cop out.
That's where we get the best information is in the
locker room. Okay, but if you're a great reporter, you
don't need that emotional outburst from the from the athlete
to get your school and dab. There is a ten
minute cooling off. At least in the NBA, it's probably.
(01:51:20):
I'm sure there's one popping. You know what. You guys
all work on the show and you still don't know
the rules. But you know what, I think the old
couple got the one. Give it a nine eight round
as nine because you guys both lost points. All right,
Well I missed my thirty second opportunity, so sorry, I'll
work on my timing. All right, Here we go round
number two. Moving over to football, deb Carson believes there
(01:51:44):
should be something of a sliding scale when it comes
to field goals. You got thirty seconds that make your case?
Tell us why? All right? Sliding scale over fifty nine yards?
A fifty nine yard field goal is three points. However,
if you get sixty, that's worth four points seventy yard,
or worth five points in an eighty yard or six points.
Because just when you think a game is out of reaching.
(01:52:04):
You're never gonna overcome your deficit because your quarterback stinks
or your offense can't move the ball. If you've got
a decent kicker, or even a guy who can just
aim toward the uprights, who kicks the kickoffs, bring them out,
give yourself a chance, give it a go. Fans are
going to be interested. It's more interesting now that they
change the kick line for the extra point. Dah, what
(01:52:25):
are you talking about? I just threw up in my
mouth on that death stop with thee? What is this? There?
Are we know football league gimmicks? The gimmick league? Or
what time do they drop to confetti on the field
stop when moving the field? Goals? And it's a nine
point field goal? If it's this, if is that it's
called football? We got it? Field goals three points touched out,
(01:52:47):
six points stopping? Well, what about the point? Oh, you
can't talk? Is that going out? You're getting into my
time now? Well? Why why have a two point conversion? Then?
Rob but make it cut and dry, forget about it.
You don't get a chance if your guy doesn't get
it through the uprights on the one point? Why have
a two point conversion? Make it interesting. Give them a
chance to get up to six points on a field goal.
(01:53:09):
It'll make it more interesting. Like fantasy football. You've got
more eyeballs watching because of fantasy football, because of gambling.
They want to see excitement. They've got to modernize the game.
Here's an idea, Dad, why don't we let them play
with two footballs sometimes? You know, maybe once every possession
you can bring out two footballs. That would make it fun.
And you know why, let's get rid of the out
(01:53:29):
of bounds line. Let's keep run, Let's run wherever you
want to. I mean, you got extra blockers on the sideline.
That would really make it cool. It'd be chaotic. No, Dad,
first ball seventy yard or the record is sixty three yards,
I believe, I mean very rarely as a coach gonna try.
I don't know if they'll ever try a seventy yard
(01:53:50):
or because remember, if they miss it, the team's going
to get the ball right there where that forty yard line.
What everyone would be So, I don't even think that
would make that much of a different. But if you're
down by twenty early fourth quarter, you're not gonna score,
So why not go for it? Go for the six
point eighty yarder. Round number two goes to the most
(01:54:12):
innovative host on the show, Deb Carson. So Dev, it
is true you slip Rob Rob g a second box
of chocolate. I did not. I gave him the same
box of sweet Chase that I gave you. Round number
three the hot seat the couple of Fox Sports Radio
with Dev Carson. Last, but not LEAs this may be
(01:54:34):
one of the most controversial takes we've ever had. Deb
says that Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks, is the most
underrated movie of all time. Deb, you got thirty seconds
state your case. Everybody talks about the all time greades,
the Godfather, Rocky Blah blah blah, Forrest Gump always snubbed.
Forrest Gump's a great film. Not only did Forrest Gump
wins six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor for
(01:54:57):
Tom Hanks, Best Director Robert Zemeckis. It's a war movie
featured in Vietnam. It's got a love story with Jenny.
It celebrates people with disabilities. Forest a little mentally off.
Lieutenant Dan loses his legs in the war. You got
the sports aspect. Forrest plays at Alabama for Bear Bryant.
He runs across country with a wink and a nod
to the Nike just do it to slogan that he supposedly,
(01:55:17):
you know events buddy movie, but you got yes, just
destroy Joe point. It won six Academy Awards. How's it underrated?
It's underrated? It's already feud. Is one of the best
movies of all time. I haven't met one person who
doesn't list Forrest Gup as one of the greatest movies
of all time. It's a classic. I liked it movie.
(01:55:39):
I didn't love it, but I also think I know
it's a classic. Like, who's underrating it? I don't get
that nobody ever puts it on their list. They it
is underrated. You always hear the Rockies and the guns
Academy Awards, right, it is a great movie. But if
you ask people now to name their top ten best movies,
nobody puts it on the list because people forget about it.
(01:56:00):
I think you need to expand your stop that's it.
Who are you talking to? Deb Everybody likes that movie.
Anybody who's ever seen it. They look at that movie
and go They could recite so many lines from that movie.
Everybody loves Forrest Gump. Run Forest Run. I think you're
(01:56:21):
only talking. They're six years old, doesn't Chase doesn't know.
I'm talking to actors and directors. They forget about Forrest Gump.
It's underrated. Points from both of you guys again for
not keeping it within the thirty second time limit. There's
no way. The people who do the show know how
it works. But I gotta go with the eye cup
(01:56:44):
on that. Hey, you got some ointment for those on
those third degree burns on your hell on your represented.
Thank you good. We'll have to have you back on
the hot season. Yes, you know, whenever we want another
(01:57:04):
easy prey, have you back? All right? It's the Odd
Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Keep it locked. I'm not
a smart man, but I know what love is, all right.

be on. These are the biggest fallers of the week,
all right, international, This is not including Canada. Number three.
Czech Nia fell four spots. They fell from sixty eight
down to seventy two in the rankings. So Chechnia, we
(01:58:53):

fell five spots. They're still not as low as Chechen
here they're number fifty one, but they still fell. And
then the number one the biggest faller of the week
was South Africa, which fell six spots. We we we
(01:59:15):
want to be big in the motherland, like South Africa
fell six spots from fourteen down to twenty. You know
what I'm gonna Chris, spread the word guys in those areas.
When I get home, I'm gonna burn my dashiki since
they fell so big. I think we're still big in
you Ganda, Kenya, tanzaniaz and Babwe. The states here are
(01:59:37):
the states that fell big. We're going number three, right,
we're going backwards. We're ridiculous. Yes, Massachusetts fell three spots, Chris,
from seventeen to number twenty. That's probably because you're Tom Brady.
Love that they don't like you. Ok, maybe you're Tom
Brady disliked? Is that what it is? Are love? Indiana
number two fell three spots from eighteen to twent twenty one.
(02:00:00):
All right, Marcus from Indiana. One of our best cards.
Indy from Indiana at number one. Main fell four spots
from number forty six to number fifty. You come on, man,
get up, get with it, all right. The cities the
biggest fallers among cities at number three San Diego. San
(02:00:23):

We love the Charges they're playing in the Parker Power
All right. Number two, Cleveland, what's happening y'all? Fell three
spots from fourteen to seventeen. So come on, Cleveland, come

number one Boston, that's you again that you I give
Tom Brady love of You're the reason, you know it.
They fell four spots from twenty five down. They're down
from twenty one to twenty five. They fell four spots.
(02:01:10):
So there you have it. Those are the podcast rankings.
This is the list you don't want to be on. So,
like we said, they should love your family, tell your friends,
tell your co workers, tell your enemies, tell everyone to
download the Odd Couple, subscribe five stars in a nice
they should love me in Boston. I keep it real
for them. I make sure keep it real. I do.
(02:01:31):
I keep it real so that they don't have to
feel like real. And when they listen to w EI
in the station in Boston and all that, the hub
and all that, they're not getting the real takes. They're
getting like the Homer takes. So they gonna listen to
national radio sports radio to get the real takes. I
give you that, But you go overboard with Tom Brady.
Tom you give him his love. You won't give him that,
(02:01:55):
You won't you give him no credit for getting the
eight Super Bowls. I do give what did you in
an American Express card? It doesn't need any credit? Really? Yeah,
that was a rim new but corny is all get out.
Just because it's new, don't make it fresh. I my
standards are really low after that right there. On anything
(02:02:16):
that's remotely that that even has a hint of being funny,
they're giving you rim shot. You know what. We're still
big in Australia though. That couple is large down low.
I'm meant down under, y'all. Y'all say that I meant
down under? Chris? What are you talking about? Down low?
(02:02:36):
