Speaker 2 (00:19):
You're listening to the Best of the Odd Couple.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Whether it's part of the Schoolbol trade or because they're
in this swoon right here. As of four pm Pacific,
seven pm Eastern, the new MVP odds are out on
FanDuel and show Hey, Otani is no longer alone atop
the leaderboard. Pete crow Armstrong is now tied with Otani

(00:46):
for having the best odds to win the NFNL MVP.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
So, guys, is a question, do.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
You think this Schoolbol trade and or this recent slump
the Dodger in is gonna cost O Tani another MVP? Me?

Speaker 5 (01:01):
No, we go through this in baseball.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
It's one hundred and sixty two games, guys going to slumps,
Teams going to slumps. I mean, as soon as this
comes out, Roger, you know what he does is they
get his two home runs today and so I fully
expected to continue the dominance. And obviously we know he
is unlikely that he'll pitch again, but I think the
pitching aspect of it, this is the most we've seen
him pitching years, specifically with the Dodgers. He had a

(01:26):
really great If this is it, he had a great
season as a pitcher. You couple that with the thirty
five almost forty home runs he'll get, and I think
he'll be right back sitting up top. But it'll be
could be a close race, for sure, but I don't
expect this to change.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
You couldn't be more wrong. And here's the thing. What
makes him that perennial guy is because he does both
because it pitches and he hits. His stats are down
offensively now he's not pitching, so there is an opening
for somebody else to win the MVP. And the idea

(02:00):
that the Dodgers had to run and get to our
school because old Tony can't pitch or won't pitch for
the rest of the year. I think that hurts him.
And his numbers are down like two years ago when
he didn't pitch at all and he had the fifty
to fifty that was really impressive. He hadn't been that
player at all. He won that player last year if
you remember correctly, he went from one hundred and thirty

(02:20):
RBIs to like, I don't know what he finished with
last year, was it eighty five? I mean like he
went he dropped from one thirties.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Look at the RBS two from one thirty thirty years
before one or two. But he never really one thirty
was innomally all the other years one hundred No.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
No.

Speaker 6 (02:35):
But I'm saying coming off of that because he was
just a hitter and whatnot, and he played every day. Uh,
and look at his numbers. Where's his batting average?

Speaker 7 (02:44):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (02:44):
You have to give me a sec to pull that up.

Speaker 6 (02:46):
But this is what I'm saying, is like ninety yeah,
Like he's not even hitting three hundred twenty six home runs?
Is pedestrian. That's not sensational. Yeah, not sensational.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
But you do realize you didn't giving me all the time.
You gotta give the other side of this, like meaning, well,
what are you doing?

Speaker 5 (03:02):
Not you? But no.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
But but that's why, because that's the thing. You're also
competing with somebody who just pitched, you know, like eighty
nine innings or whatever. It was whozi Ari is under two,
like you went an MVP him last year.

Speaker 6 (03:17):
And yeah, but but him not being able First of all,
he wasn't gonna be able to because he didn't have
enough innings for like I'm not saying you but I'm no,
but I'm saying him pitching is what put him ahead
of everybody, that he could do both. And now that
he's not doing both, and he's having a very good year,
not a great year, a very good year, there are

(03:37):
people in voters who will be like, he's doing I'm doing,
you know, really good. But is he like the best
player without question? I don't think that that's the case.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
That's a fair I mean, I'm not saying it's a landslide,
absolutely not. But if the question is door's open for
somebody else to win it, I just don't. I just
don't see it.

Speaker 6 (03:54):
I do he lost to Aaron Judge one year, I mean,
he didn't want him the one.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Every year ever, Yes, when they run the same league, right,
So I'm saying specifically now in his league in n L,
I just don't see it where because Okay, if he
ends up with thirty five plus home raw, you're being
generous at twenty six. He's just had two today, that's
not crazy. That means he won't hit another one for

(04:20):
a week. I'm just guessing, why can't he hit five
for a week?

Speaker 5 (04:24):
Right? Give me the other extreme? Can you give me
that one?

Speaker 6 (04:26):
No, I can't give you that.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
It doesn't hit my narrative.

Speaker 6 (04:29):
I mean, it's not a part of it, not not
with him.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
But Aaron Judge get hit five in a week?

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Right, Oh, once it gets back, that's you brand muffing you.
You never consistent, you are consistent. But no, I think
I mean again, I think things will be close. Absolutely,
he doesn't have to be that he wins in a landslide.
But I just consider when you do. I was listening
to this they're doing it. I was listening to the
podcast that they're doing about him, in the whole epay

(04:54):
my Suhora thing and all that the gambling went now,
but they were talking about just his numbers.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
Where he is.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
It is absolutely ridiculous what he's doing, and we take
it for granted, you know, because it just become normal,
like this is not normal what he's doing.

Speaker 6 (05:07):
Yeah, but he can His numbers aren't eye popping, aren't
so great.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
That a dude that was on a short list that
could have won a cy Young. Yeah, but he didn't
could have but he but.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
He never had.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
I'm saying he's won MVPs and he didn't win a
cy Young, meaning he doesn't have to have an MVP.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
But he didn't have to You're right, but he had
to pitch and be a part of that. And this year,
how many wins does he have? What does he have
three wins for the like? He doesn't The pitching part
was okay, he didn't blow anybody. He had like three wins.
How many games did he win this year?

Speaker 5 (05:40):
Get all these stats right now?

Speaker 6 (05:42):
I'm serious. I don't know how many games? How many
games did he really win?

Speaker 7 (05:46):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (05:47):
Please hold while I looked this up.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
Well, I thought wins didn't matter when he came to pach.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
No, I'm just saying, but now.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
They said about King Felix, it's not his fault.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
I voted from for thirteen. How many games did he win?
The man is eight and two. It feels like three
to me, like he.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Was a one point seven ninety rings to look at
the last question, MVP not young.

Speaker 6 (06:12):
Look at the last five. How many earned runs in
the last five starts. That's what you should be looking.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
That's not the total season.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Tell me what he's right now, dude, this man has
pitched in fourteen games. He's eight and two. You just
mentioned it one seven nine e r like, this is
what are you talking about?

Speaker 6 (06:30):
He was under Nah, he was under a seven e
r A. It was zero point seven zero and it
ballooned seven six. It's balloon it's chubby. Now, rob G,
Rob G, listen to this. Last year, who was the MVP?
Oh Tony, he pitched. He was one and one. He
pitched in fourteen games. He was one and one. E
are a two eighty seven. He only had sixty two strikeouts.

(06:53):
He has thirty three. His numbers were better offensively, his
numbers are as good.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
What I'm saying is, if you're gonna account for that,
you can also account for the pitching. You gee what
I'm saying, because also there's the other side to it.
That's the point that makes a stus him.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
I think him not pitching now is gonna hurt him.
I do, I do. And now look what the Dodgers are.
They're swooning. They needed to get tark Schooble to save
the season to save the Dodgers. It ain't about old time.
You've got ol Time your team and you need to
go out and get the best picture available because he's
not that good.

on YouTube and subscribe. Sophie Cunningham has kind of been
the topic for the last week or so.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
Yes, she has for a number of reasons.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Right, she went viral with the meme where she's potting
out an opponent, she got a new signature sneaker, and
then most recently, she drew a lot of iron when
she said in an ESPN feature that she, for lack
of a better word, is against the idea of trans
women in women's sports. She says her goals to protect
women's sports, and when that happened, it became a huge firestorm.

(08:35):
Right That's been one of the big talking points here
for the last week or so. You had an opposing
coach wearing a shirt and support of trans children. And
today Sophie Cunningham met with the media and she took
some ummage with the waves being covered.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Take a listen.

Speaker 8 (08:50):
I think that there's so much good going on in WNBA.
I think that Bascal's going to add the highest soul
it's ever been. I think our team and specific we
are breaking history right now with the amount of points
that were scoring on back to back to back to
back to back games. I think the Minnesota game, there's
just so much dibstraction. I think the WWNBA media all
we ever do is cover everything except basketball, and it's like, like,

(09:11):
what are we doing? There's so much like you can
talk about other things. I think those are great stories.
I think it shows fans you know who people are
outside of the courts. But I also think we got
to keep the main thing the main thing.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
She's not wrong.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Listen, We've talked about this quite a few times, the WNBA,
in and of themselves. I've said, I don't think they
were ready for prime time in the sense of once
to hold Caitlin Clark and injuries moved up.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
To the WNBA.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
I think they got caught off guard, like, oh, shoot,
everybody's looking, everybody's watching. We got either new fan base
or people who want to hate watch, because that happens too.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
We all know that people hate watch things.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
You know, Now you got a morning show that's well,
they only get one viewer that's a hate watching with
you every day. They're like, man, it's cable boxing. They
know your exact address. For some reason, we get someone's
hate from it. But absolutely the WNBAS they weren't prepared
for that. I think that's a fair stay and all
that comes with it. And when eyeballs are on you,
how are you gonna handle crisis, How are you gonna

(10:05):
handle beats? How are you gonna handle promotion? And I
think they dropped the ball handful of times. We've talked
about that, But I do think what I would advise
the WNBA and what Sophie Cunningham might have hit on
a little bit. Is they're gonna have to get ready that.
This is kind of how sports media is covered period
right now. SAMs for the NFL. The NFL is really
the only one except for maybe playoffs, where we come

(10:26):
in on the day to day and will break down
the actual game. Right We'll say, hey, the Rams Seahawks,
Sam Donald threw interceptions. Man, I love the way the
Rams ran the ball and the defense really locked out.

Speaker 5 (10:38):
We'll do that. We don't really do that on a
day to day. Even with the NBA.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
We take those controversial stories Kevin Durant and the text
messages is in the burn burner accounts. We'll talk about
Draymond Green walking off the bench. You know, that's just
kind of how things are covered nowadays. With you, we
got bigger, more sports shows, we got more podcasts. So
I think she and specifically WNBA is gonna have to
get ready for that. And that's why it becomes incombing

(11:03):
for them to really make sure they're highlighting their league,
highlighting the players, highlighting the good because unfortunately that is
how it's handled right now. People come in and they
only want to talk about it for some crazy Kaitlin
Clark stuff or some crazy angely stuff as opposed to
Olivia Miles get buckets and Page Becker looks great and
all these star players that they have Asian Wilson dominating
the game hitting the three ball this year, that isn't

(11:25):
what's covered. So they're gonna have to do a great
job promoting that and that it starts to maybe trickle
down a bit. But that's how sports is right now.
The way we cover on the day, we don't really
get into the day to day games. Even with the NBA,
it's usually the bigger stories, what's going on with the
sept Can emb stay healthy? I don't know, Fat Lucas,
skinny Luca. We don't necessarily cover it from a day
to day game to game standpoint rot.

Speaker 6 (11:45):
Yeah, I disagree. I think that the problem with the
WNBA and why you're at where you're at is that
the basketball is not compelling enough to talk about it.
And I think that is where the issue is and
why people focusing on the other stuff off the court.
You've been thought brought up a couple of things, but
most I'm talking about the general pumpin I don't I

(12:07):
don't think it's compelling enough. I really don't. I know
that the attendance is better and up, and ratings are
better and up, and a lot of Caitlin Clark still
draws massive. That team massive when they're playing, they get
big weighting they do, and that helped the heels they
are there.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Being a part of it helps to now that she's
got a new little claim to fame, Sophie.

Speaker 6 (12:28):
But but you get my point, and I'm saying, I
think that's why we are where we are with that league.
And if you have way more compelling stories I'm talking
about on the court and play, then the other stuff
would wouldn't be as big and we it just seems
I told you before, it feels like the Real Housewives

(12:50):
kind of drama. There's always something somebody has to say,
something somebody's offended every day. And if there was really
good basketball going on and things that to talk about
in that league, I'm not so sure that people would
focus so much on the other stuff, what.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
They are hooping. I won't because I won't. I will
agree that I don't think everybody's into it. That's and
that's facts, right. Not everybody's in the UFC, not ever
everybody and nobody's sands Ford again the NFL, and you know,
baseball and basketball have a massive footprint in this country,
but the NFL is bohemoth.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Everybody doesn't have a huge fan base.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
So I'm not gonna completely agree with that where people
aren't everybody's going to water cooler talking about it. But
the product is actually really good if you're a basketball fan,
like if you like, if you're into who they are saying.
But still they're still relatively in an infancy rob when
you go.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
To the ministry for.

Speaker 6 (13:42):
Thirty year is a long ti.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Here's where I and to be where they are that
we're even talking about is big because here's what I'll say.
When you look back at NFL. Reason look at NBA
one reason. But I'm saying when you look back at leagues,
we look at them now, it took those leagues decades
to really jump off and get a footing, like even
even a dag on Boston Celtics. We glamorize it now

(14:03):
more like the sixties and all that. If you actually
go back and look, NBA was not the NBA like
we think it is back there. We love Bill Russell
with the Celtics did the havel Check and and Bob Cusey.

Speaker 5 (14:14):
It was not nearly league.

Speaker 6 (14:16):
The only different you're you're not being honest or fair
with is if there was no n b A and
just the w n b A wouldn't have been around,
it would have folded because they didn't have they wouldn't
have lasted.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
But I'm saying wasn't helping them if the NBA did
not sponsor sponsored.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
I agree with that. No, I'm talking about the.

Speaker 6 (14:39):
W would would not have made the thirty years and
needed to even get to this point. There were other
women's leagues before the w n b A. They all folded.
They all folded, And my point is it needed a
lifeline to survive.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
I was in Detroit.

Speaker 6 (14:54):
You know that the shock say, right, but they but
they couldn't show any tickets.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
Well they could, they could not sell tickets.

Speaker 6 (15:02):
And they sold out for the finals, in the championship
or whatever because people wanted to be a part of
the winning aspect. But I'm just saying, I think that's
why so much focus is not on the basketball and
it is on the album.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
You agree that I said, they're gonna have to kind
of understand that's how we kind of do sports like
except for the NFL, because that's.

Speaker 5 (15:22):
The one will come on a Monday. It will break
down more so.

Speaker 6 (15:24):
The game season to do that for one game a
week compared to every night. And and even in the NFL,
let's just be honest, we've been banging the drums on
the same storylines over and over. Aaron Rodgers is the topic.
It was Tom Brady all the time. It was the
same five or six guys. I mean, you think you're
covering the whole league about the Titans, right, we don't

(15:48):
talk about the whole league. And even in the NBA
when Denver the year that they won the championship, no,
how many topics would would would Denver Nuggets related?

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Almost none. We talked about our pacers. They were on today,
had the best record. The second half back near to
you know what, the tyre's Halliburn went crazy.

Speaker 6 (16:07):
That's all I'm saying is that a lot of times
it's personality driven. I agree, And unless you're doing something
extraordinary on the court. And then and then the w NBA,
I think that's what's missing.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
I think I think they've got this young crop of
talent that could do something, and especially when Juju Watkins
gets there.

Speaker 6 (16:24):
How many games you've been.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
To this year? I have not been in any this year,
but so good.

Speaker 6 (16:28):
You haven't even been here yet.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
Well, first of all, you know I got twenty six jobs. Okay,
I'm just and fourteen kids. I understand. But you know
what I am doing. I'm getting some tickets for us.
You coming, Rob, G You're going, Rob, You can come to.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Mike Sando the Athletics in your NFL riter joining us. Now, Mike,
how are you?

Speaker 5 (16:57):
What's going on?

Speaker 7 (16:58):
I'm doing well, having a great time with the quarterback week.
I know this is the year that you agree one
with everythanker.

Speaker 6 (17:05):
No, you already know. My pantasies aren't a bunch, Mike.
Panties are in a bunch, Mike. I'm just not happy
about the Patrick Mahomes being number one. I mean, he
hasn't been the same quarterback in a couple of years.
I think it's a people just can't get over. Like
if you don't vote him to be Tier one you're
disrespecting them for what he's done in the past. No

(17:27):
one's taken away his accomplishments. It's not a lifetime achievement award.
He's coming up with me. How was he Tier one quarterback?

Speaker 7 (17:36):
Seriously, Let's well, let's just go back and say, let's
just say we were doing this. Uh, let's say we
had quarterback tiers in two thousand and six and five,
and let's just say Brady had, you know, won some
championships and then he got into a lull. Some years
went by, no Super Bowls.

Speaker 6 (17:54):
How about ten years went by?

Speaker 7 (17:56):
People forget nine years went by. I don't think they're
doing a reassessment or should they every year I'm a
homes or every year I'm Brady Because you're to go
back in the history of the game, these are Hall
of famers, would you be unless you're just totally falling
off physically like we've seen that Drew Brees end of
his career, Peyton Manning and of his career he couldn't
throw the ball. I don't think we're seeing that. So

(18:17):
I think the question then is do you vacillate every year?

Speaker 6 (18:20):
Is it just off of Yeah, because it's it's yeah,
because it's a yearly assessment, Mike. That's that's my issue.
If it's not, and you just want to say who's quarterback?
And fine, I'm with that. But you know, if you're
telling me every year you're evaluating people and that's why
there's a new list, why would the list change?

Speaker 7 (18:40):
Then well, yeah, that's true, that's definitely true. I think
it's just when you have obviously none of the voters
only won put him intoer two. There was some talk about, hey,
you know, there's obviously been a decline and he he
hasn't carried it as much. But uh, you know, I
think I've had and I've done. This is my seventeenth

(19:01):
podcaster or show today and no one shually challenged. Of course,
not why right away? We got a problem right away
off the top of my Come on.

Speaker 6 (19:10):
You know the other podcast, they don't push back. That's
what you get on the odd couple. We're going to
challenge you a little bit, right, that's all.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
I like it.

Speaker 7 (19:18):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
One thing.

Speaker 7 (19:21):
One thing, you read the piece. You read the piece.

Speaker 6 (19:23):
I just read the excerpts. I read the whole thing
I did. I did read him.

Speaker 7 (19:27):
So the point on the point made on ma Holmes was, look,
he's it's similar to what Joe Montana went through, won
some Super Bowls, had a couple of years. I think
I lost was one and done three times in a
row in the playoffs, and people were talking about Steve
Young and is he still the guy? And then he
you know, he had two MVPs and two Super Bowl

(19:47):
wings right after that. Should they have been downgrading him
along the way or but he still Joe Montana. I
think that's what we're talking about. And you make a point,
I mean, you want to put him down in two.
I like the fact that the quarterback tiers is not
an overreaction to a single year. We know that Mahomes
right now as last season had zero run game, had

(20:08):
nothing around under the wide receiver position, and got hurt.
All right, So you know that's kind of where we're ad.

Speaker 5 (20:14):
Well. I got some smoke too, Mike.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
I think the issue that I have is why throughout
his entire career sands for one yeares Lamar Jackson in
Tier one only once? Why is he always in tier
two when he's literally doing historic things? Highest QBR rating
ever him forty one touchdowns, four interceptions, not to mention
he'll rush for one thousand yards. And I understand he

(20:38):
hasn't had the full on playoff success, but some of
these other guys, I mean, Joe Burrow hasn't really you know,
he obviously got the Super Bowl early, but he's been.

Speaker 6 (20:45):
Injured and any other thing. You know what, Kelvin, I'm
a piggyback, real quick, Mike, like, like, we can blame it.
We can say, oh, Lamar can't do this is the playoffs, right.
Mark Andrews drops a two point conversion right in that
game that he brought him back in that and they
could have won a division last year as poorly as
they played. Who did we talk about Henry fumbled the

(21:08):
ball deck twice in games that cost him games, and
then he watches it down in Pittsburgh to set up
the game winning field goal.

Speaker 5 (21:17):
They would have won the division and gone.

Speaker 6 (21:18):
To the PA and the kick a mystic field goal.
You know what I mean with you?

Speaker 7 (21:22):
I'm with you. So we got fifty voters, twenty two
of them put in tier one. Of the twenty eight,
I bet you fourteen of them said if someone wants
to put him in Tier one, I'm not going to
fight him on it. But he thought early in his
career the fact that he early in his career he
was overly dependent on his running, couldn't pass, and got
totally solved in the playoffs. Later in his career, he
did both of them at a super high level, and

(21:43):
he went to Tier one. That's what he was last year.
Unanimously or not, but he was similar to Burrow. This year.
His running went away. I mean, he averaged twenty five
yards a game, the half what he was before and
a third of what he was before that. And people
don't think, for right or wrong, that he's a great
quarterback if he's not, if he doesn't have the running component.
I think the same thing will happen to Josh Allen

(22:04):
if he can't run the ball, I believe.

Speaker 6 (22:06):
But wait a minute. Last year Lamar and them opened
the season in Buffalo. He put up forty points. Yeah,
and the defense put up game became much good. They
have forty whatever two or three whatever they lost by
Do you know what I'm saying? Like, I don't even
know how you could have played any better. I watched
that first game. I thought, oh my god, they're going
to be unstoppable. Do you saw it?

Speaker 5 (22:27):
It was ridiculous.

Speaker 7 (22:28):
I thought too, And I don't think that was representative
of the season. Yeah, he probably didn't have a good
season overall. I mean, I mean, do you want to
go on? I mean the question, the question you've asked
is a good one. Why over the course of career,
But and then the question for this year is well,
if Mahomes can have a down year and not.

Speaker 6 (22:45):
Drop out, there you go MVP.

Speaker 7 (22:50):
Answer is yeah, the answer is the hardware probably on
the fingers, right.

Speaker 6 (22:54):
Yeah, Well, but he's won two m vps and should
have won a third one.

Speaker 7 (23:00):
I mean, I'm angry, come on like, he's very yes,
and after he won the two MVPs, he did not
go into Tier one the next year, and.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
That which is not taking it. That's all I'm saying.
Mike Jackson is on Tier two along with Lamargin.

Speaker 7 (23:15):
He's very I was looking this up in the history
of this thing, the guys who've gone to Tier one
and back and forth. It's Philip Rivers. You know, he's
going to be another guy who had issues in the
postseason but was at one time a top five quarterback
in the league for sure, went into Tier one, came
out of Tier one. You know Matt Ryan, only he
made it after his historic year and not the other years.

(23:36):
There's been a handful of guys that are on that
fringe every year.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
A guy who almost won three m vps.

Speaker 7 (23:41):
I just he should have won the MVP two years ago.

Speaker 6 (23:43):
Of course you should have. So that's all I'm saying.
I don't I agree with you. How had Jackson done? Now?
This was a Trump Tier one I get it, you
know what I mean?

Speaker 7 (23:51):
Mike in tier one? What are you talking about gonna
make it till you're three? You're not even in tier three,
tier two.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
I thought I'm looking at two right now it's the
three doors. Never mind looking.

Speaker 7 (24:05):
You're not even going to make it. I apologizes because
he gets hit every single play. Yeah if he if
somebody showed him the highlight of Gus f for Rock
getting concussion headbutting the wall, he'd say, damn, why didn't
I think of that?

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Yeah, you know you have my We were an agree there,
we are to agree. I take that back. That was
my apologize. You gotta ask Hi about or door as
the holding up the bottom. I mean, Calvin loves your door.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
See That's what I'm talking about. Thinks he's going to
be a star in the league.

Speaker 6 (24:29):
And I think that the evaluation of Hudu by the
executives a spot on.

Speaker 5 (24:36):
Go ahead.

Speaker 7 (24:37):
I like the comment in it from the coach who said, look,
he absolutely needs what they're going to get, which is
a fresh start, because obviously it Fansky didn't seem to
want to draft. To remember that, it was like they
drafted two quarterbacks and looked like one faction organization took Gabriel,
the other one took Chadur and it was never set

(24:58):
up to be good, especially with that team. So you
get Monkan, who had some success with you know, with
Lamar Jackson too. I think Lamar had success before him,
but it was genuinely positive and he's no nonsense and
he's going to come in and it's gonna be a
fresh slate for everybody, I think, unless they're going to
push Watson out there because of the money. But I
think he's going to get a little bit of a

(25:18):
fresh start with a new coach and we'll see how
he handles it.

Speaker 5 (25:21):
That's it. That's all I say. Rob a great approach,
That's all I said. They're acting like he's the mark.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
He was a worst quarterback for starting quarterback last year,
the numbers are horrific. Quarterback waiting of eighteen. He was bad.
I don't care what anybody says.

Speaker 7 (25:36):
And I'm andon Watson was horrific too, Thank you, Michael.
That's kind of wild.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
If he was, though, Mike, he shouldn't be on the team.
And you know that there's a financial situation that goes
with it.

Speaker 7 (25:49):
Here's what I'm getting at those like I never felt
like any quarterbacks there, except for maybe Jacoby Brissett or
like the first year of Baker Mayfield, never like played
to their potential or exceeded it. And we see in
some of these other places obviously maybe better weapons, but
some of these guys play above their level. Purdy or
Garoppolo with s Kyle Shanahan, don't you feel that. I

(26:09):
feel like the Cleveland never got much out of the
quarterbacks that they had there.

Speaker 6 (26:15):
Boy, you're all right with me? He sounds just like
me talk. But that ain't the reason. But that ain't
the reason that should do it was as bad as
he was, I mean, come on, he was bad.

Speaker 7 (26:25):
He was he he was and and uh he was.
There's no way to say that it was good that's all.
I'm getting him in out of the huddle, you know,
and just operating.

Speaker 5 (26:34):
But it's okay.

Speaker 7 (26:35):
I mean he's a fifth round pick or whatever, fifth
round pick. Give him an off season, you know, give
him another.

Speaker 5 (26:40):
Tom Brady was a six round pick. A round.

Speaker 7 (26:44):
We don't need to write these guys all, you know,
don't write them off. Just relax.

Speaker 5 (26:48):
I mean, don't you here make sense? Yeah, we saw.

Speaker 7 (26:54):
Donald and Daniel Jones. These guys looked like terrible, were
written off and then they go to a different situation
and the I'm in the super Bowl. So you know,
Duur's issue is how talented is he actually if you
take the word Sanders.

Speaker 6 (27:07):
Off of his back said yesterday, and.

Speaker 7 (27:11):
That's what that's where I think, you know, just as
Eli Manning benefit from having the Manning mass name, although
he won super Bowls and had a long, good career.
Uh you know, I think the pedigree of the name
uh helps and hurt Scheduur.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
Yah.

Speaker 6 (27:27):
Well, anyway, Mike, thanks for all the content yesterday.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
I appreciate the whole show.

Speaker 6 (27:30):
We appreciate you.

Speaker 7 (27:32):
I love it. I love your guys with passion. You
really are one of my favorite ones to come.

Speaker 5 (27:36):
On I appreciate that shakes you.

Speaker 6 (27:38):
Thank you, buddy, You guys,
