Speaker 2 (00:19):
You're listening to the Best of the Odd Couple.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
We talked about to Tears.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
I'm not that thrilled about that whole scenario and the
way that they weigh players, but when it comes to.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
I think this model, Yeah, I know, it's kind of crazy.
That works out right. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (00:36):
The quarterback tiers came out today. The athletic Mike Standard
does a great job for an of the show. Me
come on the show this week. We'll see and fifty
posters twenty one execs, twenty nine coaches to anonymously give
their thoughts, and all the quarterbacks in the NFL now
they're ranked one through thirty five. So it's every starter
and every quarterback who's considered to be in a QB battle.

(00:58):
So I go Atlanta has Panix Antua included, right, Cleveland
of course has Deshaun and Shadour included and bringing up
the rear at number thirty five overall, none other than
Schadere Sanders. All right, one of the comments, I'm gonna
reach just two of them here. Anonymous executives said, quote,

(01:19):
he's inaccurate at all three levels. I can't tell if
he's gonna be better, but there's a huge gap between
him and competent quarterback play. Anonymous defensive coordinator said, I'd
sleep like a baby if I got to play him
every week. He's not an on time player, can't really
read through coverages, is a little bit heavy footed your thoughts.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
I just think they're putting extra sauce. I really do
rob he's it was bad. He would tell you he
was bad. I ain't gonna see coat if.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
He would tell you. What When did he ever say
he was bad?

Speaker 4 (01:48):
I think he's I think he's wise enough to know
that he said it most of the time.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Remember he said I sucked. Didn't remember he was like
I sucked something like that. He was like, man, I
was trash. He knows it. And my only thing is role.
I'm not gonna sit here to defend as if he
had some amazing rookie campaign.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
The only thing I'm saying, is the way when you
read these these.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Anonymous quotes and all that, they're acting like he's had
three or four seasons of this, like even two seasons
of it. To me, he was in a terrible situation
where they had three quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Everybody else, No, they had three or four quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
We saw Joe Flacco, Dylan Gabriel, we saw him, I mean,
and they didn't know what they were doing. He didn't
get the starts and then number one starts. To me,
I will be going into this season saying, all right,
there's no excuses you beer end camp. You compete against
a guy who ain't been great himself and Deshaun Watson,
and let's see what's up, and let's give him like
this next season to see what's going on. To me,

(02:40):
they're acting like we've seen two three seasons of horrible
play from him. When he wasn't that bad. I mean,
when he was bad, but he made some plays when
he was out there and he was able to be mobile,
he was able to throw the four ball down the field.
So I'm not getting I'm not acting as if he's
some top ten, top twenty quarterback. My only thing Robb
is I feel like they're putting so much on him.
When you look at the Cleveland Browns, except for Baker

(03:03):
Mayfield for a season or two, they haven't been no
one's really they've been able to produce. You bring in
to Shaun Watson, who's an MVP candidate in Houston, he
ain't been the same.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Sence, Yeah, but he got other issues going on and
he but he's played a lot too. He played more
than you think.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
We all think it was like three games, and we've
seen Deshaun Watson was terrible.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
So my I just don't get.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
All I'm saying is why when other people have been
bad historically, they kind of go all right, Look, especially
in no situation, didn't get to start, and multiple quarterbacks
he's in Cleveland's got a new coach, now, new system,
he's locked in.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Let's see what it is.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Instead, they're acting like he's the laughing stock of the
league when we have seen other quarterbacks be bad their
rookie campaign, especially in bad environments you go when you
get drafted, you can't determine when you're going, and sometimes
you go to horrible environments, Cleveland being one of them.
The Panthers and We've seen guys start off horribly and
they're in there. One of them is a Super Bowl champion,

(03:55):
Sam Donald. Sam Donald, we would have never thought he'd
have two back to back seas, fourteen wins, four thousand
yards and Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Led the league in interceptions last year. Yeah, and he's
a Super Bowl champan you got a ring on. Thank
God for that defense.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
So my whole point is, and I'm sure Chador will
have to have that kind of defense as well. So
the whole point is they're putting too much on a
guy when we didn't get to see the full opportunity
of him.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
That's all I'm saying. What we've seen this before.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Josh Rosen at one year in Arizona and they ran
him out of there and they drafted another quarterback in
the top in the first round, right, Kyler Murray went
first overall after having Rosen? Why would you do that?
They'd even give him another chance they had one season.
So it happens with people. And the thing with Shaduur is,
I don't know what you will watch it. I mean,

(04:40):
he was bad last year. I don't know how anybody all.
I don't think they're picking on him he was bad.
He didn't play well, and it was like the worst, right,
rob G, what was it? The worst starting quarterback numbers historically.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
I keep these stats in a special folder because I
know ro gonna go to him maybe once every six
seven week. Here's funny, Calvin text me, rob G, can
you give me some good should do with numbers?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
I was like, that's gonna be tough. I can't stand
one of y'all. I'm not a miracle worker.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
But here are the numbers you're talking about, rob O.
The thirty six quarterbacks at least two hundred passing attempts
last season, Shador Sanders was last in completion percentage, passer rating,
adjusted yards per attempt, and adjusted net yards per attempt.
He was also second to last interception rate. In fact,
his ten picks over the last eight weeks were an
NFL high over that span.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Those are you can't blame everything on every because you're
not having success. The same way that if he played well,
you wouldn't be going well. But he didn't have any receivers. Oh,
you didn't have an offense. No, you would be like,
look at him, excel Right in the circumstances situation, he's in.
All I'm saying is he has not played well. I

(05:59):
know a lot of people, well, they love his dad.
And if he was George Smith playing quarterback with those numbers,
you just wouldn't be you talk about his personal or whatever. No,
George Smith would be getting killed. I don't thinks anywhere
and he would. I wouldn't be talking about George Smith.
I think if it were George Smith, we would be going,
all right, well that let's either you know, like that

(06:19):
was a bad, horrible rookie campaign.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Listen, George Smith wouldn't be Smith ain't getting all of that.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I wish I was playing him every week and they
would not be putting out an extra sauce on it.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
And it's because I.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Just think it is you're confusing celebrity with performance, and
he's a celebrity off the football field, and that's why
you think like people don't like him and it's personal.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
They have no reason.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
It's the same thing if you're the ownership, people would
die to get a starting quarterback if they really believe Kelvin.
Come on, you're a coach, you're trying to save your job.
You're a general manager, you're an owner. You want to
sell tickets. You want your team. Don't tell me that
they're there trying to work against him because they don't
want it doesn't make any sense. Why draft him, Why

(07:05):
put them on the team if you want the guy
not to do well, It doesn't make any Oh, they're
trying to make him look bad that the brown said.
The Browns get fired. The Browns have a new coach.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
They want to They want to start, obviously, especially when
you know you're a coach in the NFL that the
clock is ticking. So he's won of he wants whoever,
the starting quarterback is going to be Gabriel Watson Chadure.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
They want some productivity.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
All I'm saying is, I'm looking at it as this
guy is on the team that has not had any
production from anybody really in several years except for that
one year with Baker, And I'm looking at a bad.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Situation so much so you need a whole new coach.
And I'm saying, I want to see what this kid.
I'm almost saying, let me see what he produces now,
because now there is no excuse, right you've got if
he plays poorly.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
What are you gonna say now?

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Now?

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Oh, what's a new coach. It is a new system.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
I'm saying, right, that be saying you knew what you know.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
But you're gonna say if he bings he has a
new head coach and he doesn't had an entire full
off season to work with this new coach. So no
matter what, all I got to learn the system, I
will say that more applicable to like, let's say a
big time starter, right, because now you got a whole
new You've been used to this system for six years,
five years or something, and that's a whole new thing
you You have a whole opportunity now to prove this

(08:23):
to a new coach, to get something, some reps going,
and now it's like, all right, let's see and all
you gotta do is improve.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
He ain't gotta be damn Marino improve, Rob g W
you got what you got.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
I can't say you're a hundred percent right, but let
me just say this. The guy rank number thirty four,
JJ McCarthy. Here's two quotes about him. See how they
vary from shadors WA's this. His toughness was a thing
that really jumped out to me watching him play. If
you have that, you always have a chance here's the
other one. Former GM. He has tools, but he's coming
out of the Michigan offense as NFL passer. He needed development,
even though he had all strength with athletic.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Gaok at that and you know what, go back and
look at that game that he beat the Lions in
Detroit and change the course of the CS.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
If you want to bring up one game, I.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Am because you don't have a your door game. I
have the door games where he the second game?

Speaker 3 (09:08):
No, you don't. You don't have a do have the
second game? Don't?

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (09:11):
And that's what's funny. So J. J.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
McCarthy is the guy you move up, you you trade
pick with fifteen eight two.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
He went on the coming off, coming off and off Dad,
coming off and off week Rob g give he beat
it to no coming off of fifteen. Tell me about
the coming off of They were not talking about the.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Good team. They're not going to postseas, but they were fifteen.
So the guy who you move.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Up you get move picks to make tenth. Who's supposed
to be that guy?

Speaker 4 (09:38):
All right?

Speaker 6 (09:39):
Come?

Speaker 1 (09:39):
It wasn't so much so that you went and got
another whole quarterback in Kyler Murray. Oh but man, he's tough.
See how they do He's this? Come on, he look
at his moxie. All right, here we go exactly.

NFL writer joining us now?

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Mike, how are you? What's going on?

Speaker 6 (10:37):
I'm doing well. I'm having a great time with the
quarterback weekend. I know this is the year that you
agree with every banker.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
No, you already know.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
My pananties are in a bunch, Mike, panties are in
a bunch, Mike. I'm just not happy about the Patrick
Mahomes being number one. I mean, he hasn't been the
same quarterback in a couple of years. I think it's
a people just can't get over, Like, if you don't
vote him to be Tier one, you're disrespecting him for
what he's done in the past. No one's taken away

(11:07):
his accomplishments. It's not a lifetime achievement award. He's coming
up with me. How was he tier one quarterback?

Speaker 6 (11:15):
Seriously, Well, let's just go back and say, let's just
say we were doing this. Let's say we had quarterback
tiers in two thousand and six and five, and let's
just say Brady had won some championships and then he
got into a lull. Some years went by, no Super Bowls.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
How about ten years went by?

Speaker 6 (11:35):
People forget nine nine years went by.

Speaker 7 (11:37):
I don't think they're doing a reassessment.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
Nor should they every year on the Homes or every
year I'm Brady. If we're to go back in the
history of the game, these are Hall of famers. Would
you be unless you're just totally falling off physically like
we've seen that Drew Brees end of his career, Tayton
Manning in his career, he couldn't throw the ball. I
don't think we're seeing that. So I think the question
then is do you vacillate every year? Is is it

(12:00):
just off of yeah because it's a yeah, because it's
a yearly assessment, Mike, That's that's my issue.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
If it's not and you just want to say who's
the best quarterback? And fine, I'm with that.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
But you know, if you're telling me every year you're
evaluating people and that's why there's a new list, why
would the list change?

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Then?

Speaker 6 (12:20):
Well, yeah, that's true, that's definitely true. I think it's
just when you have obviously none of the voters, only
one put him into your two. There was some talk about, hey,
you know, there's obviously been a decline any other he
hasn't carried it as much, but uh, you know, I
think I haven't had any I've done. This is my
seventeenth podcast or show today, and no one's really challenged.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
Of course not.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
We know what, Hey, we got a problem right away
off the top of Mike.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
Come on, you know the other podcast they don't push back.
That's what you get on the odd couple. We're going
to challenge you a little bit right, that's a lot.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
I like it. I like it.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Yeah, I got one one. Did you read the piece?

Speaker 6 (13:01):
Do you read the piece?

Speaker 3 (13:02):
I just read the excerpt. I don't read the whole thing.
I did. I did read them.

Speaker 6 (13:06):
So the point on the point made up Mahomes was, look,
he's it's similar to what Joe Montana went through, won some.

Speaker 7 (13:15):
Super bowls, had a couple of years, I think it.

Speaker 6 (13:18):
Lost, was one and done three times in a row
in the playoffs, and people were talking about Steve Young
and is he still the guy? And then he you know, he.

Speaker 7 (13:24):
Had two MVPs and two super Bowl wins right after that.

Speaker 6 (13:27):
Should they have been downgrading him along the way or
but he's still Joe Montana. I think that's what we're
talking about. And you make a point, I mean, you
want to put him down in two. I like the
fact that the quarterback tiers is not an overreaction to
to to to a single year. We know that Mahomes
right now last season had zero run game, had nothing

(13:47):
around under the wide receiver position, and got hurt. So
you know that's kind of where we're at.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Well, I got some smoke too, Mike.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
I think the issue that I have is why throughout
his entire career sands for one year, there is Lamar
Jackson in Tier one only once?

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Why is he always in Tier.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Two when he's literally doing historic things highest QBR rating ever,
forty one touchdowns, four interceptions, not to mention he'll rush
for one thousand yards. And I understand he hasn't had
the full on playoff success, but some of these other guys,
I mean, Joe Burrow hasn't really you know, he obviously
got the Super Bowl early, but he has been.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Injured and any other thing.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
You know what, Kelvin, I'm a piggyback, real quick, Mike, like,
like we can blame, we can say, oh, Lamar can't
do this is the playoffs, right? Mark Andrews drops a
two point conversion right in that game that he brought
him back in that and they could have won the
division last year as poorly as they played.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
Who do we talk about Henry.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
Fumbled the ball twice in games that cost him games
and then he watches it down to Pittsburgh to set
up the game winning field goal. They would have won
the division and gone to the playoff and the kick
a mystic field goal.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Do you know what I mean with you.

Speaker 6 (15:01):
I'm with you. So we got fifty voters, twenty two
of them put in tier one of the twenty eight.
I bet you fourteen of them said.

Speaker 7 (15:06):
If someone wants to put him.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
In Tier one, I'm not going to fight him on it.
But he fought early in his career the fact that
he early in his career he was overly dependent on
his running, couldn't pass, and got totally solved in the playoffs.
Later in his career, he did both of them at
a super high level, and he went to Tier one.
That's what he was last year, unanimously or not un
but he was similar to Burrow this year. His running

(15:31):
went away. I mean he averaged twenty five yards a game,
half what he.

Speaker 7 (15:33):
Was before and a third of what he was before that.

Speaker 6 (15:36):
And people don't think, for right or wrong, that he's
a great quarterback if he's not, if he doesn't have
the running component. And I think the same thing will
happen to Josh Allen if he can't run the ball.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
I believe Bob Wait a minute.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Last year, Lamar and them opened the season in Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
He put up forty points.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
Yeah, and the defense put up game much good. They
have forty one have a two or three whatever they
lost by Do you know what I'm saying. I don't
even know how you could have played any better. I
watched that first game. I thought, oh my god, they're
going to be unstoppable.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Do you saw it? It was ridiculous.

Speaker 6 (16:07):
I thought too. And I don't think that was representative
of the season. He probably didn't have a good season overall.
I mean, I mean, do you want to go on?

Speaker 7 (16:14):
I mean, the question, the question you've asked.

Speaker 6 (16:16):
Is a good one. Why over the course of career,
But and then the question for this year is well,
if Mahomes can have a down year and not drop out,
there you go. M v answer is yeah, the answer
is the hardware probably on the fingers, right.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Well, but he's won two m vps and should have
won a third one.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
I mean, I'm angry, come on like.

Speaker 6 (16:41):
He's very yes, and after he won the two MVPs,
he did not go into Tier one the next year, and.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
That which is not ridiculous, That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
Mike Jackson, along with lamar Jin, he's.

Speaker 6 (16:55):
Very I was looking this up in the history of
this thing, the guys who've gone to Tier one and
back and forth. Philip Rivers.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
You know, he's going to be another guy who had
issues in the postseason, but was.

Speaker 6 (17:06):
At one time a top five quarterback in the league
for sure, went into Tier one, came out of Tier one.
You know, Matt Ryan, only he made it after his
historic year and not the other years. There's been a
handful of guys that are on that fringe every year.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
A guy who almost won three m vps.

Speaker 6 (17:20):
I just he should have won the MVP two years ago.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
Of course you should have. So that's all I'm saying.
I don't I agree with you. How had Jackson dog?
Now this was a Trump Tier one I get it,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (17:30):
Mike in tier one? What are you talking about? Going
to make it till you're three? You don't even in
tier three, tier two.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
I'm looking at here two right now? Dark is it's
her three doors? Never mind looking at.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
You're not even going to make it. Apologyears because he
gets hit every single play.

Speaker 6 (17:48):
Yeah, if he if somebody showed him the highlight of
Gus f Rock getting Consion headbutting the wall, he'd say, damn,
why didn't I think of that?

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Yeah, you know you have my we were an agree there,
we are to agree. I take that back.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
That was my apologize. You're going to ask Hi about
your duel. Yeah, Door as the holding up the bottom.
I mean Calvin loved to Door. See, that's what I'm
talking about. Thinks he's going to be a star in
the league.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
And I think that the evaluation of should do by
the executives a spot on.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Go ahead.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
I like the comment in it from the coach who said, look,
he absolutely needs what they're going to get, which is
a fresh start, because obviously it Fansky didn't seem to
want to draft. To remember that, it was like they
drafted two quarterbacks and looked like one faction organization took Gabriel,
the other one took to do her and it was
never set up to be good, especially with that team.

(18:39):
So you get Monkan, who had some success with you know,
with Lamar Jackson too. I think Lamar had success before him,
but it was genuinely positive and he's no nonsense and
he's going to come in and it's going to be
a fresh slate for everybody, I think, unless they're going
to push Watson out there because of the money. But
I think he's going to get a little bit of
a fresh start with a new coach, and we'll see
how he handles it.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
That's all I say. Rob a great approach. That's all
I said. They're acting like he's the He was the.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
Worst quarterback for a starting quarterback last year. The numbers
are horrific quarterback waiting of eighteen.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
He was bad. I don't care what anybody says. And
I'm and Watson.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
Watson was horrific too, thank you. That's kind of wild.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
If he was, though, Mike, he shouldn't be on the team,
and you know that there's a financial situation that goes
with it.

Speaker 6 (19:28):
Here's what I'm getting at those like I never felt
like any quarterbacks there, except for maybe Jacoby Brissett or
like the first year of Baker Mayfield, never like played
to their potential or exceeded it. And we see in
some of these other places, obviously maybe better weapons, but
some of these guys play above their level. Pardy or
Garoppolo with s Kyle Shanahan, don't you feel that. I

(19:49):
feel like the Cleveland never got much out of the
quarterbacks that they had there.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
Boy, you're all right with me? He sounds just like
me talk.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
Yeah, but that ain't the reason. But that ain't the
reason I should do A was as bad as he was.
I mean, come on, he was bad.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
He was he he was and and uh he was.

Speaker 7 (20:08):
There's no way to say that.

Speaker 6 (20:09):
It was good. That's all getting him in out of
the huddle, you know, and just operating.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
But it's okay.

Speaker 6 (20:14):
I mean, he's a fifth round pick or whatever for
sit round pick. Give him an off season, you know,
give him another.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Tom Brady was a six round pick.

Speaker 6 (20:23):
We don't have to write these guys all, you know,
you don't write them off just relax, I.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Mean, don't make sense. Yeah, we saw Donald.

Speaker 6 (20:33):
And Day Daniel Jones. These guys looked like terrible, were
written off and then they go to a different situation
and one of them in the Super Bowl. So you know,
Shedur's issue is, uh, how talented is he actually if
you take the word Sanders off of his back, I
said yesterday, And that's what That's where I think, you know,
just as Eli Manning benefit from having the Manning last name,

(20:57):
although he won super Bowls and had a long, good career,
you know, I think the pedigree of the name helps
end hurt, sedure Yeah.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Well, anyway, Mike, thanks for all the content, Yester. Yeah,
I appreciate the whole show. We appreciate you.

Speaker 6 (21:11):
I love it. I love your guys with passion. You
really are one of my favorite ones to come on.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
We appreciate that. Mine shate you. Thank you, Hi, buddy,
help me guy.

Speaker 5 (21:30):
The latest installment to the NFL Top one hundred was
released overnight and it was ranked forty to thirty one.
The guy who came in at number thirty three overall,
Jared Goff, sounds about right, thirty three best player in
the NFL.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
You know, it's not something cool about.

Speaker 5 (21:44):
The problem with that is is that is six spots
ahead of Justin Herbert Oh, eleven spots ahead of Joe Burrow.
Here's my favorite, thirty six spots ahead of Lamar Frickin' Jack,
Rob Parker.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Make it make sense. It doesn't make sense. And this
is typical.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
You know what for a long time, Jared Golf and
I know that's your quarterback there.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Kelvin but he's overrated.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
And people keep talking about Jared Golf this and that,
and he's overrated for this reason.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
I don't care what numbers he puts up.

Speaker 4 (22:18):
He has not been able to put up the numbers
in those big games that you need him to put
it up. And that's where if you're gonna hold that
to Lamar and some of these other guys, right, and
I get it, they're coming off injuries, and maybe that's
why they're pushed down the you know what I mean,
pushed down, But Jared Golf some of the biggest games.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
And you noticed Kelvin last year two years ago, right,
was it?

Speaker 4 (22:40):
No?

Speaker 3 (22:41):
Yeah, because theydn'tde the playoffs last year two years ago.

Speaker 4 (22:44):
That game against Washington at home nine and a half
point favorites, and Jared Golf went to bed. If he
was that quarterback and people really thought he was that dude,
he would have.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Never been traded from the Rams.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
Remember the Rams had a smoking hot offense when he
was there. They actually were averaging like thirty five points
a game. Come the Super Bowl, they scored three points
on an eighty nine yard field goal and that was it.
They were like, Okay, he's a weak link, we got
to do something else. That's where Matthew Stafford. They took
Matthew Stafford, who hadn't even won a playoff game in

(23:18):
his career, over Jared Golf, who was a pro bowler,
who had his offense click in one of the top
five offenses in the history of the NFL. None of
it mattered because they didn't think he could get the
job done when it mattered most last year, if you remember,
they played the Minnesota Vikings Kelvin against a third string

(23:39):
quarterback and he threw what four picks?

Speaker 3 (23:42):
He was awful in a game the Lions had to win.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
If you remember that, that was another one of those
moments where Jared Golf turns into Jared Tennis and he's
just no good. And that's why when you look at
these lists and people prop them up and they look
at some stats and all that, I don't buy into him.
I think he's a good quarterback middle of the row,
but I don't think he's an upper echelon quarterback man.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
He is Rake, thirty third, he's Rake, depending on which
one you look at, about the eighth best quarterback. You
did all that talking just to tell me the man
is properly rated. Nobody said he's better than Patrick Mahomes
or he's better than Josh. I don't think he's better
than mar Jackson, and I agree with you Lamore and
Joe Burrow.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
Could he be thirty five Jackson? The two lists we've
been going off of do it differently.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
So the tiers one we just talked yesterday who were
on the phone with again, Mike Sando, and he didn't
even admitute like, it's kind of random how we do it.
It's history, it's also projecting future, and it's also current.
The top one hundred is based simply off who had
the best year, who was looking good last year. So
that one I can get away because it makes sense

(24:55):
to day. He had the playoffs last year. I mean,
that's right, but they were not.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
In eight His stats were in his stats were If
I told you his stats, you would think he was
in the MVP race. No thirty four thirty four touchdowns
in eight interceptions, okay, but forty five hundred yards anybody else,
that is an amazing season for them.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
But if anybody did he.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
Get the numbers when the games that mattered they lost.
They lost to Minnesota at home and then they lost
to a third string.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
Go look at the numbers, and the two piples came
to look and I'm telling you, the man put up
crazy numbers. So he, to me, is properly rated.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
Jared Goff what he has done over his career, specifically,
if you even want to include the rams, that's it's
even more.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
It's a more incredible. The man has been to a
Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
The man has been to an NFC Championship game, which
we all agree they should have won against the forty
nine ers.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
Credit to forty nine ers for taking that game from them.
And you how long did you cover the Detroit Lions?

Speaker 3 (25:49):
Twenty years? Twenty years?

Speaker 1 (25:51):
And if I told you that you'd have a quarterback
who would be forty eight thirty three and one forty
eight thirty three one one. What's just that dude? That
dude has had a very good career.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
What's run in the postseason when it matters the most,
he's for the record of the postseason, won matters the most,
He's two and.

Speaker 4 (26:10):
Two and the biggest games he had to and two
in the postseason. He hasn't been in Matthew Stafford. They
didn't even win a game in the postseason. That game, Matthews,
that the game against Washington.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
Is that that name in that game?

Speaker 4 (26:24):
You two, that's his game, that's his career. That's what
they got. No, that was dang camp what they got him.
That was not Jackoff's game. Anybody who watched that game,
that was the game. Nought I thought. I thought Washington
against Washington favorite. And I'm not disagreed. He had a

(26:45):
bump game, and every single quarterback in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
With the game. But that was the game they needed.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
All they needed to do was two games to get
to the super Bowl, and the number one they were
already in the championship game the year before, and that
was the game.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
In the second that was the game.

Speaker 4 (27:01):
Second half of that game, he couldn't get him in
the end zone.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
That was the problem because.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
The receivers dropped the passes that his quarterback, his coach
called up on four down.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Jared Goff is forty eight thirty three and one.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
That touching, He's on two and two in the postseason,
on two, two and two in the two.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
Seasons I care about Jared Goff, Oh and two. It
don't matter, that's all you care.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
The fact is that man has a record nobody would
have ever expected with the Lions. He was supposed to
be a cast off, never heard of a game when
he went to the Lions forty eight, thirty three and one,
two and two in the postseason. That man has had
more touchdowns and.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Just about anybody else.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
We were talking about what the Lions wanted to move
if it wasn't for his contract. There was talk they
were gonna move off of him after last year, but.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
And the Lakers talked about moving off with Kobe. I
was a fifth. We all be drunk.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Only four quarterbacks have had more forty five the yard passing.
Somebody cares about winning. I thought, I thought, I just
told you thirty three one. You're yelling at the moon.
What is what is the what is the knock called Lamar?
He wins seventy five percent of his games and nobody
gives him any respect because of the postseason.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
And that's why I said, Jared to go and he's
properly rating.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
No, he's not, because he's toying nobody's head of Lamar Jackson.
That's a Lamar Jackson issue. How many m v based that.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
He has none? Jared hundred.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
He is ad quarter based off of the last season
empty and that's why it was based off of.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
He ain't better than Lamar Jackson. You know I'd be
the first to tell you ain't better than Lamar Jackson.
But you're yelling at Jared Golf. All I'm saying that
Jared Golf is properly rated.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
They have him as the eighth best quarterback and they
have him as thirty three, thirty third best player.
