filling in for Chris Brusard. Roppark is coming. Uh, what's up?
The Odd Couple is here.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
We got super Producer rob g.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
They make me call him super producer. He's just a Robert.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
G from me. We have the Man, the Myth, the
Legend on our update Stephen L.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
De seger L for Legend and then on the Wills
of Steels, the ones and twos we have that's my girl,
all right, Mary and I go way back, way way back.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Thank you guys for tuning in.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
We're having a little technical difficulty with with rob but
I can hold it down for you. And uh, it's
an honor and a pleasure to be here filling in.
Let's jump right into it. Not a lot of stuff
going on in sports, but that's to let us know
(02:02):
that coming up soon, we have what we've all been
waiting for, what we're looking forward to, and that is
the national football season starting in a few weeks. I
believe we're about I don't know what about fourteen days out,
maybe less than that. College football is coming sooner than that.
I'm excited about that. And so it's time to really
(02:28):
crank this thing up. Topics relating to not the Olympics anymore,
that's done, WNBA. We had a whole bunch of that
this summer. Loved it. Shout out to the ladies. But
now it's time to really get into it, and let's
(02:50):
talk about the quarterback situation in New York. Daniel Jones
Danny Dimes is some people like to call him. I
call it Danny Nichols because not all passes or dimes.
He's upset. He thinks that, you know, he shouldn't be
criticized the way he's been criticized. Now, Number one, you're
(03:13):
in New York, the number one media market in the world.
You play for the New York Football Giants. You've had
some success, a little bit of success. A large part
of that was due to Saquon Barkley. Takuan is now gone.
Now it falls on your shoulders. You're making forty five
(03:35):
million dollars a year and you have to show improve
it's your team. They're paying it like it's your team.
You're the face of the franchise. Can you sustain that?
Are you the guy to take the New York Football
Giants to the promised land?
Speaker 4 (03:54):
Now? Over and over, you know.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
People have bassed you, come out and said they've made
a mistake, and by people, I can admit to it
being me. I thought they should have paid Saquon Barkley.
They chose to franchise Saquon, make them play for NFL pennies,
not real pennies, NFL pennies. They gave you your extension,
(04:22):
your long term deal. Can't get from under it, not
for at least two years. And so now you have
to show and prove the best way, in my opinion,
to stop harsh criticism is to play well is to
show out. That's the only way you can him and
haw in the media about how people perceive you to
(04:49):
be as a player, But the numbers speak for themselves.
You have to be able to step into the lions
den and fight off a lion, the lion being the media.
Rob g join me. Let's talk about some of the
things that are being said about Danny Dimes.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Well, there's been a.
Speaker 6 (05:13):
Lot said about Danny Dimes, you know, over the years,
and most recently. I'm sure you saw this, sauce Gardener.
They had the joint practice Jets and the Giants, and
according to all of the reports, the Jets dominated the Giants,
both offensively and defensively. And after the practice, sauce Gardener,
who's a very talkative individuals, never a shortage of words
(05:37):
when it comes to sauce Gardner, was asked about Daniel Jones.
Sauce Gardener quote, after a long pause.
Speaker 7 (05:48):
Uh, he's a.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
He's a you know, he's a good quarterback, you feel me.
He tried to elaborate later and clean it up. Didn't
really work too much. So since then, the narrative surrounding
Daniel Jones has been, you know, reignited. Everybody's talking about
seeing this guy's terrible. Even even the Jets players can't
(06:12):
say something that's might have in a practice setting, much
less the game, that they know he's not any good.
So Darius Slayton, a wide receiver for the Giants, apparently
has had enough because he spoke to the New York
Daily News and in his defense of Daniel Jones, suggested
(06:34):
that the reason why he has become a punching bag,
both in the media and in the opposing locker room,
is because he plays for the New York Giants.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Here's the quote.
Speaker 6 (06:45):
I think because we play in prime time a lot,
we're covered a lot. We're the Giants. If we were
the Jags, you don't hear anybody say anything about Trevor
Lawrence or Justin Herbert for that matter. Matter of fact,
if you ask most people Justin Herbert, they'd probably tell
you he's a top five quarterback. But under what logic
(07:06):
can you really make a case that he's a top
five quarterback. You just believe he's capable of that because
you see the big arm. He's big, he's tall, he
has a rocket arm. You assume he's processing is good.
You assume he's smart all these things, but you actually
don't know so he from I disagree with Darius Lee,
but let me get your opinion. Do you think that
(07:27):
the reason why Daniel Jones has become an easy target
for guys like me?
Speaker 4 (07:34):
You, Steve Di Sager, Rob Parker, somewhere everybody, Sauce Gardner.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
Do you think it's because or it's amplified because he
played for the New York Giants.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I don't. I think expectations are greater at the New
York Giants. I think when you play in that media
market there is a spotlight on you. I'm not quite
sure how many national games the Giants have had over
the years. They've been less than spectacular. But because he
(08:05):
brought up Justin Herbert and tried to make a comparison
between Daniel Jones and Justin Herbert, let me break it
down for you just so we can get an idea
on the difference in the two. Okay, So, and let's
(08:25):
just take let's scold with twenty twenty, all right, Daniel
Jones twenty twenty twenty nine hundred and forty three yards
Justin Herbert and twenty twenty his rookie year. By the way,
forty three hundred, thirty six yards, thirty one touchdowns, ten interceptions.
(08:52):
To me, that's a clear cut Justin Herbert wins that,
all right. Twenty twenty one, Justin Herbert throws a five yards,
not five thy fourteen yards. Twenty twenty one, Daniel Jones
throws for twenty six hundred yards, then three thousand of
the next year, Justin Herbert follows up five thousand with
forty seven hundred. So if we're talking just numbers, all right, Now,
(09:18):
Justin Herbert hasn't had that grade of coaching. We know
that hardball's there. Now things will change. Brandon Staley, he
was literally finding ways to lose football games despite how
good his quarterback was. Now, when you look at Daniel
Jones and you look at his career and his trajectory,
(09:43):
in my opinion, we wouldn't be having this conversation if
Justin Herbert played for the Giants. We wouldn't be talking
about the New York Giants quarterback like we're talking about
Daniel Jones. Now, Daniel two years ago had a good season,
they went to the playoffs, all of that, but as
(10:03):
I said before, that was strictly on the back of
a Saquon Barkley, who, in my opinion I believe was
the leader of that team offensively.
Speaker 6 (10:12):
Well, even I think that is overstating things a for
him because during that quote unquote breakout year in twenty
twenty two, Daniel Jones a kind of for twenty two
total touchdowns against eight turnovers. He only threw for more
than two hundred and three yards four times during the
regular season. The reason why gets talked about as a
breakout and oh see, this is why we give him
(10:33):
that big deal. This is why we had a tough
decision to him in Saquon is because in the playoff
game against the Vikings, who had one of the worst
defenses in all of football that year, not just amongst
playoff teams in all of football. They got into the
playoffs by the skin of their teeth, he accounted for
three seventy eight total yards two touchdowns. So that changed
(10:54):
the complete narrative at that time for him. So then
when you entered last season, there's some buzz about him.
The whole Saquon thing is still looming over their heads.
Now the pressure is on Daniel Jones. How is it
gonna respond for getting that one hundred and forty million, Well,
he responded exactly the way we thought he would. He
averaged one hundred and fifty one passing yards per game,
(11:17):
three total touchdowns, seven turnovers in just six games, most
of them as Darius Layton pointed out on primetime television.
So everybody saw what happened against the Dallas Cowboys, and
that was one of the worst performers I've ever seen.
He was also sacked thirty times across six games.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Look, numbers don't lie. Now, you can feel a certain
type of way about a player. You can feel that
way because maybe you're not a fan of that team,
whatever that is. But if you can play, you can play,
especially at the quarterback position when the league has designed
the game for you to prosper. We've never had more
(11:59):
four thousand yard passers in a season than we do.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
Now.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Guys are stepping up and they're rookie. Look at what CJ.
Stroud came into the league doing, right, Look at what
Justin Herbert came into the league doing. Although Patrick Mahomes
sat out a year and his second year, look what
he was able to do. So this whole notion of
you know, I'm tired of people talking trash about Daniel Jones.
(12:25):
It's not holding up because the numbers aren't holding up.
The success rate isn't holding up. Now this is a
show improved year. Even though he signed a big deal
last year. He's making a boatload of money, a truckload,
a building load worth of money. He still has to
(12:46):
go out in the most vicious media capital of the
world in New York and show improve. If the Yankees
aren't good. You gotta remember last year people were booing Judge.
They were booing him because he had hit a little
bit of a slump and he was striking out on
(13:08):
his way to sixty home runs. They were booing him
in New York. And so you can't feel Number one,
you can't go out there with the notion of I'm
going to prove the media wrong. You need to go
out there with the notion of I'm going to be
as great as I can be. I'll let the media
(13:28):
catch up to my performance. To me, that's how you
shut the naysayers up. That's a and this is Look,
this came from Sauce, someone who was practicing against them,
someone who's intimate with the type of quarterback.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
He is you, how do you combat? How do you
combat that bad quarterback? Oest he knows exactly what bad
quarter If.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Sauz Gardner has one thing, it's his PhD and bad
quarterback play. As young as he is in the league,
coming off his his his two seasons with the worst
group of quarterbacks collectively in two years that any team
has experienced, he would definitely know a bad quarterback when
(14:12):
he sees.
Speaker 6 (14:12):
You would think after playing with Zach Wilson and Tim
Boyle and guys like that, Mike White, that he would
at least be able to have some kind of warped
idea of you know, perception where he's like, you know what,
Daniel Jone's pretty solid.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
He made's a couple of plays out there.
Speaker 6 (14:28):
Because the bar for him should be so low for
Sauce Gardner like, oh yeah, Like based on what he's
seeing in practice, Daniel Jones should be like Josh Allen
to him, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
There is no bar there, Like he's they just want
someone to come out and actually complete sixty percent of
the passes.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
How about that, right?
Speaker 3 (14:53):
Just sixty percent if you're throwing ten passes a game.
As a quarterback? Can you complete six off? So when
you have a player with the talent of Sauce Gardener,
when you have a player who can recognize talent in
other quarterbacks, what do you think Sauce Gardner says about
Patrick Mahomes?
Speaker 7 (15:13):
What do you what do you think?
Speaker 3 (15:14):
What do you think about that? What do you think
he has? What do you think he thinks about Patrick Mahomes?
Are uh C J stroud.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
To let him up? Toua yeah?
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Right?
Speaker 3 (15:27):
And then you ask him a question about Daniel Jones
And look, he's open and honest, and I love for
guys to be open and honest. And you know, shout
out to his teammate for coming to his rescue.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
I get it. But you can't fight his battles. He
has to fight his battles. That's right.
Speaker 6 (15:39):
Eight seven seven ninety nine out Fox eight seven seven

the criticism is warranted, we want to hear from you again.

seven ninety nine off Fox eight seven seven nine nine
(17:33):
six sixty three sixty nine. And does Danny Dimes get
criticizized because.
Speaker 7 (17:39):
He plays in New York or because he's just not
that good? He from how are you my man?
Speaker 4 (17:44):
Good?
Speaker 5 (17:45):
We're doing just fine now as we get this show rolling,
and uh, I know people want to chime in.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Yeah they do. We got Jordan and Nebraska. You on
the our couple with Robin Ephraim, What you got hey?
Speaker 9 (17:57):
I honestly just mind Rick on it are. I think
when it comes to the Giants and teams kind of
in that realm in the NFL, I don't think that
if we look at their track record, that they're looking
for a franchise quarterback like Mahomes or or something to
build their team around. And so when it comes to
(18:19):
Daniel Jones, they find someone that's a little bit I
don't know, solid, or something that they can count on,
whether that's positive or negative. And I think it's it's
more an indication of where the quarterback market is. Is
you better pay someone once you find someone that you're
even remotely comfortable.
Speaker 7 (18:38):
With, Right, But I get that.
Speaker 5 (18:41):
But but I don't think the criticism of him is
because he's playing in New York.
Speaker 7 (18:45):
He's just not that good. It's not that good.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
Just like people would have say, oh, Eli, thanks for
the call. Eli Manning gets so much credit just because
he's playing for the Giants in New York. No, Eli
Manning knocked off Tom Brady twice in the Super Bowl,
including the eighteen and oh Patriots, and has two signature
throws and two Super Bowl MVPs.
Speaker 7 (19:06):
That's why they.
Speaker 5 (19:07):
Talk about Eli Manning, not because he played for the Giant.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
No, it because he's a two times Super Bowl champion,
two time uh Super Bowl MVP. Now he's never been
spectacular in the regular season, but it doesn't matter, because
once you climb that ladder to greatness and you perform
on the on the biggest stage and beat one of
the greatest quarterbacks and the greatest team, then yes, you
(19:34):
deserve the accolades.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
And it wasn't a one time where Lunk did it
twice twice.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Yes, you got to give him credit for that. We
got Quincy in New York. You're on the odd couple
with Robinie from what you got.
Speaker 10 (19:48):
Hey, fellows, what's up?
Speaker 7 (19:51):
What's up?
Speaker 10 (19:52):
So I think that criticism is like way over the top. Yeah, Well,
nobody saying he's Patrick Mahomes, Josh Josh Allen, any of
those guys. But for one, in terms of him, need
to say Kwon Barkley.
Speaker 11 (20:10):
That's pretty much.
Speaker 10 (20:11):
All he's had since he's been in the league. Can
who can name his top receiver? You were comparing him
and Justin Herbert's stats earlier. Daniel Jones hasn't had a
fraction of italient that Justin Herbert has had to throw
to since he's been in the league. I'm not saying
(20:32):
he's good, as I think Justin Herbert is a better quarterback.
But and Daniel Jones has been Henry prone, which is
a major part of the inconsistency that he's shown since
he's been.
Speaker 6 (20:45):
In the league.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
But okay, I hear that, I hear all the window dressing.
Is he in the top fifteen or bottom fifteen quarterbacks?
Speaker 7 (20:54):
Where is he?
Speaker 10 (20:55):
I think he's right around fifteen right now.
Speaker 7 (20:58):
I think he's in the bottom fifteen. So there you go.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
He's you think he's in the top fifteen.
Speaker 7 (21:03):
He says he's right at He says he's right at fifteen.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
Sure, I think he's I think he's in the twenties.
Speaker 7 (21:09):
I just think he's in the twenties. All right.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
Coming up, are you sure that Jamar Chase and CD
Lamb will be suiting up?
Speaker 7 (21:19):
In week one?
Speaker 5 (21:20):
We'll talk with a former NFL agent, Joel Corey. He
has the answers next, but first let's get you caught up.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 7 (21:38):
All Right, thank you, Steve, appreciate it. It is The Odd.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
Couple on a funky flashback Friday, Rob Parker and e
from salam in for the vacation in Chris Brussard, who
will be back on Monday, and we're broadcast live from
the ty rack dot Com studios. Now, let's welcome in
Joel Corey, former NFL agent and CBS Sports NFL analyst.
Speaker 7 (21:59):
Joel what's up? Man?
Speaker 5 (22:00):
Say?
Speaker 7 (22:00):
How to you from how are you?
Speaker 4 (22:01):
How you doing?
Speaker 11 (22:02):
Joe good Brother doing great?
Speaker 5 (22:05):
Tell me Jamar Chase, Cde Lamb. Any chance of those
guys playing week one? Would deals get done in the
midnight hour?
Speaker 11 (22:13):
Yeah, Cdie Lamb will get done. Jerry Jones is unusual
from the standpoint that he drags things out, costs himself
more money in the long run. History shows when he
has a holdout, he's going okay. So ceedee Lamb will
be playing Week one, Jamar Chase. Some people have said, oh,
he's not gonna set foot on the field without a
(22:35):
new contract. Well, he can try to do that. It
could be repercussions for him financially because in order for
a hold in which he's doing to work, a team
has to be complicit or cooperative. If the Bengals decide,
you know what, we're not getting the deal done, you
need to get back to work. He's gonna have to
(22:57):
decide if he wants himself in the financial consequences if
decide to assert their rights.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Let me ask you this, when you look at the
Brandon Nyuk situation as a former agent, if you were
his agent, what advice would you give him.
Speaker 11 (23:15):
I'd want to stay with the forty nine Ers out
of going to the Steelers, since that seems to be
the other option because the quarterback situation Pittsburgh is unresolved
and will probably be unresolved next year. Whereas I've always
thought in San Francisco it was an either or the
(23:36):
situation for the long term with Deebo, Samuel and Brandon Ayuk.
If Ayuk signs long term, then Samuel's probably traded next
year in his contract year. If you can get the
money where you wanted to be, which obviously it is
on San Francisco, that would be my first choice out
of all the options. Now, the new interesting one is
(23:56):
Johan Dodson getting traded to the Eagles yesterday day. We
know that Brandon Aiyuk would love to go to the
Commanders and hook up with his former quarterback from Arizona State,
Jayden Daniels. Adam Peters came from the forty nine Ers
to become the Commander's GM, So people been trying to
connect those dots, but I don't know if that's even
(24:17):
a realistic option at this point.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Where is the money at right now? Do we know
how much Brandon was offered and what is he looking for?
Speaker 11 (24:29):
Well as soon as aman Ross Saint Brown was done
for slightly over thirty million per year, although the team's
going to say it's twenty eight because last year has
an inflated value. To get it at thirty million per year,
that became what he was looking for. I'm pretty sure
that deal was done right around the NFL Draft. Then
(24:51):
you had latter part of May a second receiver, Jalen Wattle,
because Tyreek Hill is the number one in my end.
He signed a three years Stinson averaging twenty eight point
two five million per year in San Francisco. Although the
numbers aren't gutty like CD Lambs, Brandon Ayu is brought
(25:12):
party's favorite target. He is the de facto number one
receiver there. He's not going to take less than the
highest paid number two receiver. That's gonna probably stick in
his cropit. He's probably looking for that man Ross Saint
Brown type money, although there have been reports did he
turn down more money than that from the Patriots because
(25:33):
he didn't want to go there, which is one of
the teams that was trying to work out a trade
for him.
Speaker 5 (25:38):
Our guest is Joel Corey, of course, former NFL agent
and CBS Sports NFL analyst, Why do these games continue
to happen and why don't teams pay players that produce?
Speaker 7 (25:53):
I don't understand. I really don't if.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
Your CD Lamb or some of these guys who have
put out, why why is there handwringing over just paying people,
not really worrying about where other people are. If somebody
has value to your organization, you take care of them.
I don't understand why this happens every year.
Speaker 11 (26:12):
Well, some things do that. The Eagles have no problems
being proactive, and that's a long time stance they've had
that predates how you Roseman. That goes back to Joe Banner,
long time former president of the Eagles. He's the one
who kind of ushered that into the NFL, where if
you identify a core player, you pay him as soon
as you can because it's going to be cheaper in
(26:33):
the long run. Miami's doing it because they paid Roddel
early this year. You typically only see what the first
round picks after the third year in an average year,
no more than four at the most get a deal
after three years and usually don't get paid until they're
(26:54):
in their option year, like justin Jefferson. Interestingly enough, a
few years ago you had to Mack, Jack Martin and
Aaron Donald. None of those three got paid heading into
the fourth year. They had to play the fourth year
and didn't get paid in the option year. Aaron Donald
held out twice in order to get paid.
Speaker 7 (27:13):
Believe it or not, let me let me ask you this.
Speaker 5 (27:16):
I think of all the situations, I look at Jordan
Love and Green Bay, I think that they should have
offered him a contract before the season last year because
they had the guy in camp. They watched him for
right three years if you didn't really.
Speaker 12 (27:35):
Know, because because they probably could have got.
Speaker 5 (27:38):
Him for a lot cheaper, that guy would have signed
a contract right before going into that year instead of
they waited and it wound up.
Speaker 11 (27:47):
Let me stop, Let me stop you right there. There's
no way David mullagedto was going to sign for thirty
million a year or twenty five million a year like
Gino Smith. They weren't sure they were going to exercise
the fifth year option on him because ro Getta would
have been looking at it from the standpoint that if
I locked this guy in in this amount and he
(28:07):
blows up and he had a phenomenal second half of
the year. How much money am I leaving on the table?
Speaker 5 (28:13):
The upside, but he also could have been the other way. Well,
the other side is that maybe he wasn't that good
and he had been there already. I don't know people
turned down guaranteed money. I remember when when Dak Prescott
they were talking about at one point twenty eight million dollars.
Speaker 7 (28:33):
You remember, before he.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
Got hurt and he went out, there was the number
like that, and obviously Jerry waited and wound up having
to pay him a lot more. It just seems to me,
if you have a feeling or you gamble, it should
always you should always gamble on prior to the guy
blowing up, because it's going to cost you more.
Speaker 11 (28:53):
And I said it worth while. You got to make
his work his wile. And I don't think there's any
deal that could have been done for Jordan Love, who
hadn't really played at all, which is why they did
the Bridge deal where they tacked on a year which
ended up being this year, and got that done. Dak Prescott,
the hardest thing for him to do was play out
(29:13):
as rookie contracts. He's made two million dollars through three years.
That was the hard part. When he got hurt on
the franchise tag. He was making thirty one million, so
he'd already assumed the hardest part of the risk and
then he got paid. This whole Dak Prescott situation there
in that is Dallas's fault for dragging their feet, because
you are right that they should have gotten that thing
(29:34):
done ye the contract year. He should have been a
priority over getting a franchised for a second time. The
Marcus Lawrence done before Russell Wilson jumped to market thirty
five million for years. But that ship sailed a long
time ago.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
And what let's talk about a quarterback who's grossly underpaid.
Let's talk about brock Party and what do you see
his number landing? And they eventually get that deal done,
because that's coming up real soon.
Speaker 11 (30:04):
Well, it kind of depends on what happens this year.
He was the MVP finalist.
Speaker 5 (30:09):
This year.
Speaker 11 (30:10):
Let's say the Niners won the Super Bowl, He's Super
Bowl in VP. Give that man a blank contract, have
him fill it in. Let's say he plays like he
did last year and they fall short. You still probably
got to make the highest paid player in the league
the Browns are gonna have one hard thing. They're gonna
have to reconcile. Back in twenty eighteen, they briefly made
(30:30):
Jimmy Garofflo the highest paid player in the league before
Kirk Cousins signed as a pre agent with the Minnesota Vikings.
Garoppolo he played five games as a starter for the
forty nine ers. You had much more of a track
record with Brock Purty. Good luck trying to run away
from what you've done for quarterback that you thought was
(30:51):
the guy in the past.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
And last thing, what if the forty nine is blow up,
just say that they don't have a great season.
Speaker 7 (31:00):
Brock Party plays good but not great.
Speaker 5 (31:03):
How much would that damage his because people have been
just waiting for him not to be good. How much
would that damage him on the You know what I
mean as far as getting paid.
Speaker 7 (31:13):
If they don't make say they don't make the player, that.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
Couple injuries and some of the guys just don't perform.
He doesn't play that great, and they don't get to
the super Bowl, or they don't make the playoffs, or
they don't win the division and it's a step back
for the organization.
Speaker 7 (31:26):
Does that hurt Rock Party.
Speaker 11 (31:28):
Well, possibly he's gonna be in the fifty million dollars
per year club unless he just implodes, most likely giving
away quarterback salaries are going. But it's hard to see
the forty nine ers with all the talent being built
to win now and I'm assuming a UK is there
and under contract, having Kurt Williams gets done, they get
(31:52):
him back in the forward. It's hard to see that
team just having a huge.
Speaker 7 (31:55):
Well, you just gave us two question marks right there.
That's only reason why.
Speaker 3 (31:59):
I happened, right Well, I think it's hard for I
don't foresee them.
Speaker 7 (32:04):
No, I get that.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
I'm just saying, like their teams sometimes are expected to
do something and things don't work out. You know, your
guys aren't there, Maybe somebody else gets hurt, and before
you know what, you're zero and three and you know
what I mean, and you're in trouble. That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 11 (32:19):
I got put it this way. I'll put it this way.
Let's say they're the Rams two years ago when they
start and they blew everything up and traded Jamila Ramsey
and let Bobby Wagginger walk get that type of season. Yeah,
I'll bets could be.
Speaker 7 (32:31):
Off Okay, thanks Joel. We appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
Appreciate you, Joel.
Speaker 5 (32:35):

e from, It is now time for a little sheck
go city, all right e from. We got some baseball
(33:57):
games to look at tonight. My best bet the Detroit
Tigers are in Chicago taking on the White Sox. I'm
taking the Tigers minus one and a half against the.
Speaker 7 (34:07):
Woeful pale Socks. Okay, there we go. That's our best bet.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
Also, I'm gonna take Philadelphia plus one and a half runs.
They're in Kansas City, but Kansas City has been playing
well seventy one and fifty six Philadelphia seventy four and
fifty three. Pretty amazing where Kansas City is, and they
were in the race for the Al Central. But I'm
gonna take Philadelphia to bounce back after losing to Atlanta.
(34:34):
Philadelphia plus one and a half runs.
Speaker 7 (34:35):
And last I got the.
Speaker 5 (34:37):
Twins hosting the Saint Louis Cardinals in Minneapolis. Twins minus
one and a half runs. So Twins minus one and
a half runs. I'm gonna take Philly plus one and
a half runs and the Tigers minus one and a
half runs. And remember I'm not telling you who to
bet on. I'm telling you who I bet on, all right.
He from a little football Kirk Herb Street had something
(35:00):
interesting to say on the broadcast last night about the
Indianapolis Colts quarterback controversy situation.
Speaker 7 (35:09):
Here we go, let me ask you something here.
Speaker 11 (35:11):
If you're if you're Shane Steike.
Speaker 13 (35:13):
In best case scenario, Anthony Richardson, he lives up to
what we all hope he can do, running, throwing, he's healthy,
his team has a great year, and he's a superstar.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
Right what if he struggles?
Speaker 13 (35:25):
What if he has a good a good drive or
a good game and then a bad game. A good
game and a bad game. He's a pick. Everybody's kind
of expecting him to be the guy.
Speaker 7 (35:36):
You got a guy like Joe Flacco with the roster
they have.
Speaker 13 (35:40):
I just wonder how you handle that if it goes
down that path, if you're Shane Steiker, because you know
what you're.
Speaker 7 (35:46):
Gonna get in Joe Flacca. Uh, here we go, Joe Flacco?
Is that where we're going? Richardson? Really, I mean, just seriously, Ephraim.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
Really you can't.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
You can't do that, right because quarterbacks are it's you know, quarterbacks,
especially young quarterbacks who haven't played a lot of NFL football,
they're going to have missteps, right, So you can't have
the short the type of leash where it's so short
that he's looking over his shoulder at father time. You
(36:21):
got to remember Joe Flacco last year, for the most
part of the season, was at home with his kids.
He came in and you know, got Cleveland to the playoffs.
So if you draft Richardson with what was the fifth
(36:41):
pick in the draft last year, and he's your quarterback
of the future, the future starts now.
Speaker 7 (36:48):
It's just it doesn't make sense to go back now.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
You gotta go. You gotta ride it out, you gotta go,
and you gotta see what you got. If he's healthy,
he has to be in the lineup. That's just what
it is. This, This is what happens when you draft
a quarterback that high.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
You gotta see if he can play through all of it.
Speaker 5 (37:06):
You just can't keep running back to the old familiar
just because he's had some success or whatever.
Speaker 12 (37:14):
It's just a crutch. You're not going anywhere. Yes, now,
he's a good replacement. If something happens in Richardson's down
two games or something like that, the shoulder flares back
up or whatever that is, then you have a suitable
backup and Joe Flacco, who can you know, win some
games for you, but he's not an option to be
your starter. If you decide to bench your first round
(37:37):
draft pick from last year, that that, to me is
now you're hustling backwards.
Speaker 7 (37:41):
Just it just I think people take the easy way out.
Speaker 5 (37:45):
Well, at least we know what Joe flat Well, why'd
your draft a kid if you don't want to give
him a chance and he's got to have growing pains.
This is what we talk about all the time. Guys
aren't going to be finished made products. Everybody's not going
to be Patrick Mahomes. Aaron Rogers said, you know what
I mean, some guys sit and it takes time or whatever.
Speaker 7 (38:05):
I just I don't get it.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
What I really believe is, you know, every now and
then we get an outlier, right, and CJ.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
Strout last year was the outler. Everybody stratt.
Speaker 7 (38:17):
For every CJ.
Speaker 5 (38:18):
Stroud, it's like there's like ten quarterbacks drafted high from.
Speaker 7 (38:21):
Who bomb out.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
That's exactly right, And teams have to be more forgiving
in terms of look We got to see if this thing,
but don't have a short least. Don't be trying to
pull him out. Let him learn the good and the bad.
It all will pay off if you have the right
pieces around all right.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
Coming up our number two, shame on Colorado reporters who
are allowing Dion and the university to bully. We'll talk
about that next. It is the odd couple stick and
stay
