Let's welcome in the Odd Couple crew, Alex, Rob G., Monty,
and Sagar. So we got the crew here ready to go.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
I'm ready to start the show. Let me introduce my partner,
Kelvin Washington.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
What's happening?
Speaker 2 (01:21):
What up, bro? Doing all right?
Speaker 4 (01:23):
All good.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
TV Thinks on Thursday. I know you fired up.
Speaker 5 (01:29):
It is what it is, man. That's all I can
tell you. So, yeah, let's get the show started. A
lot to get to. Rob G., can you start? Last
night with the first game, Seattle and the Patriots. And
for Patriots fans, it was a rude awakening.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
It was.
Speaker 6 (01:46):
Yeah, it was a tough scene if you are a
New England fan because even after Sam Donald went down after, what,
five snaps with a hip injury, missed the rest of
the game, Drew Locke comes in, puts the cape on.
New England found a way to trick away a game they.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Had in their hand.
Speaker 6 (02:02):
They were up 10 points late, and Drake May finds
a way to turn the ball over, not once, not twice,
but three times in the fourth quarter alone. Shorthanded Seattle
comes back, steals the win, and even then, Drake May
had a chance to force overtime there in the final
seconds through the game-sealing interception in the end zone. After
the game, he blamed himself, said he got impatient, and
(02:23):
he took the brunt of the blame.
Speaker 7 (02:26):
On his own shoulders.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
And he should have.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
And I'm just going to, Kelvin, you could jump in
whenever you want, but this is for you. As usual,
I'm trying to tell you, yesterday before we got started
with the NFL season, there's a reason I didn't believe
in Drake May, and he answered all those questions for us.
Three unforced errors, just terrible. The last one with a
chance to tie the game with a field goal. You
(02:48):
don't throw up a 50-50 ball. You got to make
sure you either complete it or you throw it out
of bounds. There's no way you could give up the
football in that situation. and they blew a golden opportunity
to win a game on the road to set the
standard for the season.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
Sam Darnold goes out. You've got to beat a backup quarterback.
Speaker 5 (03:06):
It's pretty easy to jump in on that and try
to make it happen, but he can't.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
And his numbers are awful.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
His last five games, his numbers are worse than Shador Sanders.
And this guy, people are talking about they'd rather have
him than Caleb Williams. There's nobody who watched that game
yesterday who thought, oh, yeah, this guy is it.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
He's going places.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
It was a terrible choke job, a bad performance that
this dude had eight interceptions last year and three in
game one in a game that mattered. They have a really,
really tough schedule to start the NFL season. Now I'm
convinced they can go 0-4, 1-5, somewhere like that. And
(03:53):
Drake made these are the issues. Go look at in
his last five games, he has 11 turnovers, seven interceptions.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
And four fumbles lost.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
That's the guy everybody's clamoring about? I'll tell you one thing,
it cheapens Matthew Stafford's MVP that that guy only lost
to him by one.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
By one vote?
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Why Matthew got to get in it?
Speaker 7 (04:20):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
I was with you. Listen, I was with you. You
said it yesterday.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
He didn't play. Well, prior to the game, obviously. You know,
some of that was Fugazi.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
And even last year during the later part of the
regular season, and of course during the postseason, you and
I talked about it. And we said, obviously, that he
and the team as a whole was taking advantage of
the bad teams they had to play or the bad
schedule in front of them. Now, we always also say,
I can't make my schedule. I got to beat who's
in front of me. And he did not look great
in the postseason. And last night was horrible for multiple reasons, Rob.
(04:53):
And this is what disappointed me. Me and I would
imagine if you were a Patriot fan or even his
coach and his team, like Drake May, I'm watching it.
I'm thinking Drake May suck or Drake May suck. not
be as good as the numbers looked last year and
as the MVP votes as you just alluded to. Because
here's the thing, Rob. Part of being a good quarterback
(05:14):
at times is you do have a bad half or
you have a bad moment, and it's okay. It was
right there for him to win and to say, look,
game one against an obviously top defense in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
They're going crazy. They're great. They're at home. They're fired up.
They're reigning champs.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
They feel disrespected because nobody's picking them to win. And
yet we got a chance to go down here and
win it. And walk away and say, hey, it wasn't great.
We got a win on the road.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
We'll take it.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Let's keep moving. We're on to week two. Instead, he
throws up as if it was fourth down. Like he
had to throw that. And that's what's disappointing is, dude,
you can have a bad situation, a bad game. But look,
you take that play. You take the sack or you
throw it away. You kick a field goal. You go
to overtime.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
You win it. And like I said, you wipe your hand.
You go, all right, it wasn't great.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
But we got to win, and you keep moving on,
and you say, hey, we got to win against a
team that people probably figured we were going to lose to,
against a team that has incredible defense, and you say, hey,
we got an ugly one on the road, but we
got it and we'll take it. And then you try
to improve, obviously week two. But instead, you cost your team.
You look like C.J. Stroud, who we've talked about on
(06:20):
this show plenty of times. You did that, and it
wasn't even, Rob, it wasn't spread out. Meaning he didn't
throw a first quarter one ante. Maybe the receiver and
him were a little off sync because it's, you know,
first game of the year. You threw them in the
fourth quarter, and that was horrible for you. And so
Drake May, including himself, is going to have to beat
the idea. And you mentioned it. We talked about it
(06:41):
last year. Are you really good? Are you really, really good?
Or are you good against bad teams and you're taking
advantage of them? And again, I was willing to give
him some break in the sense that, all right, obviously
I didn't design the schedule, meaning him or the Patriots,
and I'm beating who's in front of me. And you know,
you've heard me say this plenty of times. Like, for instance,
(07:02):
in football or in the NBA especially, don't just barely
beat a bad team.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Beat them good. You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Beat the team. That's because, hey, I got to beat
this bad team in front of me. Might as well
beat them up to really show how dominant we are.
That's what you're supposed to do. And they did it
at times last year. But they look bad. He specifically
looked bad. He cost him team. He cost the team
in the clutch time. And to your point, Caleb Williams
might have been bad for a large portion of the game,
(07:32):
but Caleb Williams would have found a way to win
or at least not cost the team.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
And I will give him that credit.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Drake may had a chance to say through it all,
we still found a way to win and he didn't.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
And I was very disappointed.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Obviously he's disappointed because he's come out and said, that
he can't be the reason to cost the team.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
And he said, to be specific, he said he got impatient.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
And therefore, you know, because you're playing against a defense
that's good, sometimes you got to deacon dunk, sometimes you
got to take field goals. He finally got impatient in
the fourth quarter, and it cost his team. And Drake
may look more like, against that Seattle team, Drake going
up against Kendrick in a beef a couple summers ago.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
That's what he looked like, Rob. He looked horrible.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
I think he looked like Fake May is what he
looked like because he ain't the guy that people thought
he was. Once again, this is what we do now.
We crown people prematurely. We try to convince us that
he's got the it. Everybody doesn't have the it factor.
Everybody's not going to be a great young quarterback for
the next 12 years.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Can we stop it?
Speaker 2 (08:32):
We did it.
Speaker 7 (08:32):
C.J.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Stroud.
Speaker 7 (08:34):
C.J.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Stroud.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Yeah, he was crowned.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
There were people who were like, oh, yeah, well, that's
why the executives said they'd rather take him.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
Like, I get it. He went to the Super Bowl
last year, right?
Speaker 7 (08:45):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
He went to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
But I'm talking about doing your due diligence to look
at the numbers. Before the three interceptions, his last four
games were not good. And now this is the one
that really makes you take a look and go, 11 turnovers?
Speaker 4 (09:00):
In the last five games?
Speaker 5 (09:02):
That's a good sample size to say something's not here.
And what is the common denominator in these five games?
You're playing the better competition. You're playing better teams. You're
not playing the also-rans. You're not eating off of Tom
Brady's AFC least, you know, where you were able to
(09:25):
win those games.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
We got it. We used to say it all the time,
even with Tom Brady.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
Tom Brady was able to put Feast and get his
team in position every year with those wins and take
advantage of them.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Here's what's going to be interesting, Rob.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
If if you let's say you're in his locker room
i'm i'm uh variable right i gotta pump my guy
up you and even obviously if you're him himself you
say the last three games four games or so you've
played the texans arguably the best defense one of the
top two or three the broncos top one two or
three and then the Seahawks, top one, two or three.
(10:01):
So you played the three best defenses in the last
four games. So is it the luck of the draw
that we just went up against an absurdity of defensive
teams and we're not as bad as it looked, or
specifically him, because obviously they got to the Super Bowl,
or is Is it something about just good teams, period?
And that's what I think is going to be interesting
(10:22):
moving forward for him. The Steelers made the playoffs last year. Obviously,
it's a new year. Mike McCarthy's here. We don't know
what they are right now, but that'll be another solid
to good team because he's 2-7 against 500 teams, Rob.
And you try to stall him out, like I said,
because of the postseason, your play against the Broncos, the
Houston Texans, and now the Seattle Seahawks twice. But if
(10:43):
he looks even just meh against the Steelers, then that's
very problematic.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
All right.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
877-99 on Fox is our telephone number, 877-996-6369.

us here in about 10 minutes. Two-time Super Bowl champ,
co-host of the initial contact on YouTube. We got Sheckle
City on the way. Shop Talk coming up next hour.
We'll see what Rob G cooked up. Also, foul or
(13:22):
fair with J.R. Gamble as well. And then last call,
so still a lot. with your boys coming up on
this TV thing. So on Thursday, by the way, professional
truck and bus drivers train for thousands of miles, but
even the best drivers need more space to maneuver their
long vehicle around a tight corner. So hang back, give
them extra space, make sure you turn safely, stay clear,
stay safe. America's pros rely on you, pay for it
(13:44):
by FMCSA. What was this with the song? I know,
but I can't. What was this one, Alex?
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Star Trek Voyager.
Speaker 9 (13:53):
Ah.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
Shout out to the Trekkies.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Well, you're about 10 feet from one of them right now.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
Oh!
Speaker 4 (14:01):
All right. 877-99 on Fox. You ready to go? We
got some calls on this fake May.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
Who I'm not surprised played poorly last night.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Wayne in Virginia. You're on the Odd Couple Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Wayne?
Speaker 2 (14:15):
What's up, Wayne? What's going on, fellas?
Speaker 9 (14:18):
Rob, Kelvin.
Speaker 7 (14:18):
Been a while.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
How y'all been?
Speaker 8 (14:20):
Good.
Speaker 7 (14:20):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Hopefully you're good.
Speaker 10 (14:22):
Man, doing the best.
Speaker 9 (14:24):
So, like, I feel like we're giving Drake May too
much credit to say that he.
Speaker 7 (14:27):
Was, like, proving to be, like, oh, fool's gold. Like,
you are what you are. I watched him.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
I live in Virginia.
Speaker 7 (14:34):
I watched ACC football.
Speaker 9 (14:36):
So I saw him in North Carolina. He gives you
certain plays. You're like, oh, wow. And then also, what
was that? So, like, why was I supposed to think
he was going to do something different than that? They
had a terrible... you know, schedule overall, the weakest, like,
since the 90s. And on top of that, you sit
there and had the injury to Bo Nix. You had
(14:56):
CJ Stroud imploding. Like, he had everything work out, and
he still couldn't win the Super Bowl because when he
finally actually ran to something. You need to tell me
that they could.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Have won the Super Bowl last year.
Speaker 9 (15:06):
Sam Donald played five plays, got hurt, and he still
would have won that Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Spot on. I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
Crazy. Man, thanks for the call.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
He might have got Drew Locke some money. Somebody might
be like, oh, shoot, maybe Drew Locke can do something
out here in these streets.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Brian, in North Carolina, you're on the Odd Couple Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Brian?
Speaker 2 (15:28):
What up, B?
Speaker 7 (15:29):
Hey, fellas. Good to talk to you again.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
Appreciate you.
Speaker 7 (15:33):
Sports Talk Radio for the people.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
That's right.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
I had two questions.
Speaker 11 (15:40):
One, why are we putting so much emphasis really on
the very first game.
Speaker 7 (15:45):
Of the season?
Speaker 11 (15:45):
And secondly, how come nobody– I've been listening to sports
talk radio all day today and nobody's really talking about
the fact that.
Speaker 7 (15:52):
Drew Locke, out of all those.
Speaker 11 (15:54):
People, was really the only one in any kind of rhythm.
I mean, at this point, that's the fourth game of
the season for him.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Well, I think– go ahead, Rob.
Speaker 7 (16:02):
Oh, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Well, I was just going to say, you mentioned it earlier.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Listen, we– two– If you really look at Drake Mayweather,
including the postseason, he hasn't been great against good to
great teams. And so you would hope, all right, maybe
it's a reset. They talked about maybe that was good
for him in the Super Bowl. You know, kind of
snap it back to reality that year two ain't going
to be that. Everything ain't that easy, how it was
for him in year two. And you thought maybe this
(16:26):
year you come out. Again, you don't have to be
great against that great defense, but you can't be the
reason that they implode in the fourth quarter, the reason
why they lose.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
And I think that's why you're hearing it.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Is because it came off of the postseason where you
were able to think, all right, maybe he learned his lesson,
had a good offseason.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
And it was more of the same. And I think
that's why, Rob.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Also, when you look at the numbers, the last five
games have been horrendous. 11 turnovers. Those are facts. And
that's a good sample size. It ain't one bad game.
If he had had five touchdowns and no interceptions in
the last game, you know, coming into this, people wouldn't
look at it the same way. But when you look
at it, and his numbers are on par with Shador Sanders...
(17:03):
Over the last five games, there's reason to look at
that and say, what's the common denominator? The common denominator
is that they're better opponents because the postseason was bad,
and now game one was bad. Andre, in Massachusetts, I
tried to tell you yesterday, Andre, you're on the Odd
Couple Fox Sports Radio, and you better come to Jesus
on this.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
How you doing, Rob?
Speaker 7 (17:25):
You know, I'm ready.
Speaker 10 (17:26):
I'm ready for the altar call.
Speaker 7 (17:28):
Drake May is.
Speaker 10 (17:30):
Who we thought he was. He's somebody that loved them
Krispy Kreme donuts.
Speaker 7 (17:35):
He loved the glaze.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
He loved the jelly.
Speaker 7 (17:38):
He loved the blueberry.
Speaker 10 (17:39):
OK, he's feasted on lower than average opponents. And when
he gets in there and when it's time for prime time,
this kid has issues. And you know something? I was
willing to cut him a pass. I was willing to
turn the other cheek. The first interception, okay, it was tipped.
The second interception, you can say that wide receiver slipped.
That third interception, Rob, and other calls, I hear what
(18:00):
you're saying. But here's my response. That's going to be
the worst turnover of the.
Speaker 7 (18:04):
Season, period.
Speaker 10 (18:05):
We saw it the first. That turnover was– that's the
worst turnover. This is my take. I'm 10 toes down
of the NFL season.
Speaker 9 (18:13):
All he had to do was throw the ball away.
Speaker 10 (18:15):
It's the same thing that the Boozer kid did against UConn.
Speaker 7 (18:18):
What are you thinking?
Speaker 4 (18:19):
You can't throw that ball up. No 50-50 ball in
that situation.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
It wasn't fourth down. He didn't have to do it.
Speaker 9 (18:25):
Right.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 10 (18:28):
And so with the situation, listen, we know the schedule
is going to be more difficult. Here's my concern with
the Patriots.
Speaker 7 (18:34):
It's that... They're going to have to.
Speaker 10 (18:37):
They're going to play these more difficult teams, and we
have the scandal from Mike Rabel. Last year was a
Cinderella season.
Speaker 9 (18:43):
People forget what the.
Speaker 10 (18:44):
Dumpster fire this franchise was before.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
The Cinderella season.
Speaker 10 (18:48):
And now when they have adversity, I'm concerned that we're
going to regress back. I hope not, but they got
to show me more.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Thanks for taking the call.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Now, if we had Dre. Is Dre still there or no?
I don't know if he's still there.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
I was just going to be curious, like, Is that
how he, you know, will he feel that way if
he ends up, you know, three touchdowns versus the Steelers,
they get a win? Is it more of a solid
how he feels or is it just week one as
a fan of the Patriots?
Speaker 2 (19:13):
That's what I wanted to ask him, but he's gone.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Yeah, I think people saw that and were mortified that
they couldn't beat the Seahawks without Sam Darnold in that situation.
They didn't get blowed out like they couldn't compete. They
had the lead in that, too. Like, those are the
games you're supposed to win.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
It can't be you.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Listen, if the same smoke is given for me to C.J. Stroud,
same smoke has to be given to Drake may not
be that good.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
And because you can't be the reason.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Like, again, you might not throw up crazy yards against
the Seahawks. and that's okay you have a world-class defense
and literally world champion defense so that's fine if you
know man i couldn't throw 280 few touches that's perfectly
fine because part of being a good quarterback is understanding
sometimes this ain't the game for the big numbers and
gaudy numbers you know what we're gonna get it done
kick this field goal every time get the win walk
(20:07):
out of there with a W.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Sometimes you have to do that.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
And him saying, I appreciate the honesty, but him saying,
you know, I got impatient. I was ready to break
free from the grips of their defense.
Speaker 7 (20:17):
Nah, bro.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
It's week one. Week one. You got a whole season
ahead of you. Take the dub and move on about
your business.
Speaker 7 (20:26):
Man.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
That's what I thought.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
All right, on the other side, Christian Foray is going
to join us. We'll get his thoughts on what we
saw in week one, or week game one, I should say,
of the season.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Right now, who is it? Is it Steve Desec? Montee,
who is it?
Speaker 8 (20:39):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington. Weekdays at 7 p.m. Eastern,
4 p.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Your boys, Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington, on ATV Things on Thursday.
And we are joined now by our man Christian Fourier.
He is promoting his new YouTube show. He even, of course,
breaking it down. He'll be breaking down this game and
more tomorrow because that's where the episodes drop Mondays and
Fridays on YouTube. You can find him there. He's a
13-season NFL.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Veteran as well.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Co-host of, again, the hit show, initial contact, dropping brand
new episodes Mondays and Fridays on YouTube.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Go check it out.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
How can it be a hit show and it hasn't
even been on yet?
Speaker 7 (21:22):
Well, because it's a.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Hit because it's you, right?
Speaker 7 (21:25):
Listen, we're just going to have a one-on-one conversation. This
is going to be me and Kelvin. There's going to
be no Rob at all in this segment. Zero Rob. Kelvin,
you know how this works, right?
Speaker 4 (21:35):
It wouldn't be the first time, all right? They've been
trying to shut me up forever.
Speaker 7 (21:40):
Here's how it works. When something bad or embarrassing happens
to the Patriots, the first person I hear from Rob, Rob, Hey,
can you come on and talk about how bad your
Patriots were and how embarrassing your head, their head coaches
and how, how terrible their third year quarterback looks. Can you,
can you, and how badly they, they, they just crap
(22:03):
down their leg. I mean, with, you know, 30 seconds
left in the game, like that's what he does.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Well, Christian, the bad part about it is, I can't
lie to you, I would have said the same thing today, Christian,
because what the heck? I was standing up for your boy,
Drake May, and me and Rob got into it, put
each other in headlocks yesterday, and I had to come
on the show and say.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Drake May, suck, Drake May, not be as good as
I thought, Christian.
Speaker 7 (22:27):
What happened? Yeah, listen, I was actually kind of watching it,
and I was like, I don't even know who this
guy is. Like, who is this guy?
Speaker 6 (22:36):
Like.
Speaker 7 (22:37):
Is this like, you know, the parent trap, like NFL style,
like they swapped them out for the non-athletic twin, you know,
and that's the guy that we have playing quarterback. Listen,
I will say the, the, the three interceptions, I guess, weren't,
isn't the story for me. The story for me is
how unbelievably bad those interceptions were. It wasn't that they
(22:59):
were so thoughtless, so reckless, so head scratching. I mean,
in the last one, of course is obviously the worst,
but the second one that he threw up, it was
like a can of corn to pop Douglas and pop
Douglas fell down. And the other one to Romeo Dobbs,
I felt like must've been some sort of you know,
(23:19):
experiential learning, you know, situation where he's like, let's just
see if this works, you know, in real time. Right.
And we'll learn from our mistakes. And then obviously the
last one was dude, like you guys know, like, even
if you didn't play quarterback ever, there's two things you
can't do.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
Right.
Speaker 7 (23:34):
If you don't have any timeouts, you can't take a sack.
And you can't throw a pick. That's it. That's the
only two things. And he came close to do it,
and he did the one that obviously you couldn't do
with a throw pick.
Speaker 5 (23:44):
Now, Christian, let me ask you about that because you
just can't throw the ball up 50-50 and hope it's there.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
You've got to throw it out of bounds if you
don't have them open.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
The thinking going into that, right, when you're out there,
isn't that stressed? Like you can't give up the football.
Like you've got to be sure about it. How does
that happen?
Speaker 4 (24:05):
Because to me it was an unforced error.
Speaker 7 (24:09):
You know, the answer is only he knows. Because anyone
watching knows the same thing. So I think that he
got caught in the gray area is what I thought.
If you were to really– I've got to get into
the mind of Drake May– He saw Mac Collins who
was making big plays for him. You know, a big
part of that last drive. He's a big, tall receiver. And,
(24:29):
you know, maybe he had had some success during camp
with AJ Brown, AJ Brown is out. And then he
sees Mac Collins out there and Mac always comes down
with the ball, but he left it short. He threw
it late. It was kind of felt like it was
like close to getting outside and give credit to the
CRS for making an unbelievable athletic play and keeping your
feet in bounds. That's why I felt like he got caught.
(24:51):
He got caught in the gray area, which is literally
the worst place you can be, you know, because you know,
your guy never has a chance. And the other rule
for the receiver is if I can't catch it, nobody can,
but it was thrown so awkwardly in such a weird
spot that even Mac Collins couldn't even break it up.
That's why it just, I literally am chalking this one
(25:12):
up as, you know, we all have a bad day.
And I do not think, and I'm sure Rob thinks this,
that the easy analysis, he was never good in the
first place.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
He wasn't.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
He wasn't good. Look at the last five games.
Speaker 7 (25:27):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Now, Christian, Christian.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
I know, Christian.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
I understand.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
You played for the Patriots. You won Super Bowl.
Speaker 7 (25:33):
No, no, no. I played for the Seahawks for seven years, Rob.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
Seven years. Okay, but let me say this.
Speaker 8 (25:39):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (25:41):
When you look at the numbers, and I get it,
you know, like he took a team to the Super Bowl.
They had the weakest schedule in the history of mankind.
I mean, like, they beat one team over 500. The
Giants were god-awful. They beat two teams over 500. And
my only point is, the last five games, 11 games, Turnovers?
(26:02):
Seven picks? I mean, that's a big enough sample size.
It's not a one night. You know, normally you just
said he had a bad day. That's a bad day
at the office if he had five touchdowns the week before.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
Or in the Super Bowl and they lost or something.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
This is like five games, and now you're looking in–
When it's bad competition, he wins. But now you're starting
to look and go, he didn't play well in the
postseason because you're playing better competition. And then you go
to Seattle with a chance to get the season off
to a good start with a tough schedule, Christian, and
no Sam Darnold, and you don't get a W.
Speaker 10 (26:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (26:39):
No, listen, listen, well said. I can't defend that. I could,
I could kind of explain it as I would say
his last three games against defenses or the Houston Texans,
Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks. I mean, I, you know, with
an offensive line, granted, this is the truth. He says,
this is not me just being a Homer. Cause I
(27:01):
am absolutely not. I'm just trying to call it. Like
I see it. Like they were all under stress. It was,
they were really, I was amazed that they were the
only reason why they lost those games because the other
team had no offense. That's why, right. You know, the
defense provided them like a lot of opportunities. So my
thing is like, I have just seen it. And I
was really critical and really patient last year. I was like,
(27:23):
I'm not jumping into this one. I learned my lesson
with Mac Jones. I'm not doing it. So I was
careful and I was measured. I was like, dude, he,
every throw is on the, on the money. He throws
a great deep ball. I mean, he understands he can run.
He's not like a sprinter, but he evades it. You
saw him last night. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
I mean, what do you have?
Speaker 7 (27:42):
47 yards.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
I think he can run.
Speaker 7 (27:45):
He can run. Yeah. You know, running back on the team,
but I will say this. This stuff, this is why
it's so concerning, and I'm just going to give him
a mulligan because you've got the same offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels,
who if he's in New England and coordinating a New
England offense, he's great. Anywhere else, not so much, right?
(28:06):
He goes to Denver, he goes to Vegas, no. But here,
he's excellent. He's one of the best premier offensive coordinators.
In his second year, I just... That's why I'm like, man,
what was he? It's so out of character. And I
know he's so much better than this. So this is
not some, hey, you know, sophomore slump, even though he's
(28:26):
in his third year. I just feel like, You know,
once A.J. Brown went down, it totally changed everything. They
couldn't run the football. Their offensive line is not as
physical as it needs to be. They couldn't match up.
You know, so he was still left doing more than
he should, and I think he pressed and he tried
to force things to happen, which we all know is
(28:48):
a terrible idea, you know, especially when you have a
10-point lead.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Well, Christian, I mean, look. The thing that Rob mentioned,
the schedule ain't getting easier. Like, it's only, you know,
it's going to be completely opposite.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
They could be 0-4, my man, or 1-5.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
Look at that schedule, Christian. You have confidence?
Speaker 7 (29:06):
No, listen, Rob, I think I thought I sent this
to you Because I said yesterday, before the game, I said,
on a pregame show here in Boston, WBZ in Boston,
the home of the Patriots, I said, they're not making
the playoffs. Oh, wow. I don't. And everyone's like, well,
you're so, well, you're sick. What's wrong with you? I'm like,
what do you want me to be? So you want
(29:26):
my honest opinion or you want me to lie?
Speaker 2 (29:29):
I'm with you.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
I said the same thing. I said they're not making
the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (29:31):
I don't see it. And there's there. And I said, listen,
they have the jets and the Raiders and Miami, but
they may not win eight games.
Man, I don't know.
They'll beat the crappy teams, but who the hell knows
(29:54):
if they don't have AJ Brown, they can't run the
football guys get hurt. The defense is a sieve. I don't,
I mean, I don't know. I don't really see it
changing the competition unless everybody, all the starters and important
people get hurt. then sure, you know, we'll see.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
Well, let me see what Diana Riccini says. Are they
going to make the playoffs or not?
Speaker 7 (30:14):
Has there been a tweet yet?
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Hey, I'll tell you what though, Christian. Christian, stay there
for a minute. I mean, how long? Rob and I
talked about this yesterday. How long before they are 1-2
or 1-3? how long before people start bringing that up? Oh,
they're not focused. They didn't do anything in the off
season because they were, they were distracted. I mean, how
long before even maybe Bostonians start saying that?
Speaker 7 (30:40):
I will say, you know, there's this, that happening now,
was very predictable. You know, if you know, if they
get off to a slow start, you know, there's too
many distractions off the field. If they can't, if Drake
may isn't playing well, he doesn't trust his, his coach.
He doesn't respect them. You know, it's a character.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 7 (30:59):
All, all these things. I don't believe any of them.
Cause I'm just telling you guys, Like the team, they, they,
it doesn't, it's, it's not existent. They don't care. They're
rallying around their coach. They love their coach. It's, it's
not an issue, but it's easy to sit there and
blame any off field antics and issues as an excuse
(31:20):
for the why, for why they lost with the really simplest,
most honest answer is, is that Drake may had an
out of body experience and And he turned into the
worst quarterback the NFL has ever– that's it. If he doesn't–
if he just throws it out of bounds, they kick
a field goal, goes into overtime, and it's a totally
different narrative. Totally different narrative. But here we are, and
(31:42):
Rob is taking his yearly victory lap.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
You already know it.
Speaker 4 (31:47):
You already know it.
Speaker 5 (31:48):
Hey, I do want you to let everybody know about
your new– show and how they can watch it on YouTube.
Speaker 4 (31:55):
And is it just you or you got other people
with you, Christian?
Speaker 1 (31:58):
No.
Speaker 7 (31:58):
So it's me and Richie Incognito.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Oh, wow.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
So you really went out there, huh?
Speaker 7 (32:03):
Well, you know, it's a long story about how we
got together, but it's called Initial Contact. It's on every
Monday and Friday. The first one is online right now.
You can go to YouTube and watch it. You know, listen,
we're going to be, you'll enjoy it, Rob. Okay.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
I just want to, can black people watch? I just
want to make sure.
Speaker 7 (32:19):
Yes. Well, yes, I get credit for that side, even
though I'm not 100%. you know? So I do carry
a little bit away. I'm not as dark as you
would like me to be a more of a beige color.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Hey, listen, one drop, you're good.
Speaker 4 (32:37):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
Christian knows. Hey, in the back of the old days,
I just put out a tweet about our Saturday. We
used to do first take weekend on a Saturday.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
We had a Saturday morning show. And it was me, Christian,
and Izzy.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
I never missed it, Rob.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
Yeah, I got it. But we did a lot of
shows together back in the day. You know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (32:58):
That is so funny. I tell you what, I... You know,
there's so many stories that are just, like, not salacious,
but just funny, you know, that happen, which is a
podcast in itself.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
Oh, there's no doubt.
Speaker 7 (33:11):
You know, but other than that, those are great times.
I may have a lot of great friends. You being
one of them, I've been friends with you forever now.
Speaker 5 (33:17):
And Christian, you know what the difference is, seriously, and
then we're going to let you go, but... It used
to be hard to get on first take. Do you
remember that? Like it wasn't an open door. It was
like really like only a handful. We had a roster
of rotating people.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
Am I right?
Speaker 5 (33:34):
And it was tough. Christian was one of the athletes
who broke through and was on the show. but we
didn't have a million athletes every day.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
It wasn't like that.
Speaker 7 (33:43):
I tell you what, and at those times, I know
we're up against it, but in those times, I was
so cautious and scared, and I didn't want to, like,
I wish we could do it again because I think
it would be better, you know, because I used to
watch you and Skip and Steve and Abbie. Man, I
wish I had the security those guys had.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
Right. No, I get it.
Speaker 7 (34:01):
I was too nervous I was going to lose my
job if I said anything remotely uncomfortable, and now I
can give two craps. Exactly.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
All right, Christian, good luck on the show. All the best, brother.
Speaker 7 (34:11):
All right, boy.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 7 (34:11):
All right, see you guys. All right.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
So I think we're batting Rob Parker and Rob G, what,
like about a 98% that anybody who comes on has
worked with Rob Parker, including myself now?
Speaker 4 (34:23):
40 years, that's what happens.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
That is what happens.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
I think 98% of the guests since I've been here,
maybe one, maybe one hasn't worked with you, maybe one
or two. Shout out to Christian. Make sure you check
out his show. New episode is going to be dropping tomorrow.
Tomorrow as well. Initial contact on YouTube. Go search for that.
Shekel City on the way. See how Rob did. And also, man,
we got to talk about what's happening today in Australia
(34:47):
with the two teams getting ready to play the Rams
and the 49ers.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Is it worth the squeeze with all that traveling? We'll
tell you. It's the Odd Couple, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 8 (34:55):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington. Weekdays at 7 p.m. Eastern,
4 p.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Cincinnati WKRP.
Speaker 7 (35:14):
Sick of it.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
Up and down the dial.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Maybe what?
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Maybe you and me were never meant to be.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Just maybe think of me. Where you living, Rob?
Speaker 4 (35:29):
Oh, Rob.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
WKRP in Cincinnati. Hey, hit him, Alex. We're going to
break you down. We're going to break him, Alex. Look
at him. You almost got him, Alex. WKRP in Cincinnati.
Fox Sports Radio. I come from Rob Parker.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
I come from Washington. Christian Fourier, shout out to him.
We just joined the show. Appreciate that, as always. Check
out his new show. He's the co-host of Initial Contact.
Richie Incognito will be joining him as well. So go
check out their show. Got new episodes dropping Mondays and
Fridays on YouTube. By the way, if you miss any
of our show, check out YouTube as well. And the podcast,
I should say. Just search The Odd Couple wherever you

Odd Couple wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
You'll find a full version and a best of version
right after we get off the air.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
All right. It is now time for Sheckle City.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Welcome to Sheckle City.
Speaker 8 (36:28):
The home base for Rob Parker's daily picks against the spread.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
How'd you do?
Speaker 5 (36:36):
All right, last night, let's get through this real quick. One, one,
and one for the reset. And tonight, real simple. One, one,
and one because we had the push in the football game.
So here we go tonight. I'm going to take San
Francisco plus three and a half. That's my best bet.
Speaker 7 (36:57):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Over the Rams who just got there to the stadium.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
They just had lunch and got on the field.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
Yankees minus one and a half.
Speaker 5 (37:05):
They're already up, I think, three nothing in.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
Their game against the Rockies.
Speaker 5 (37:11):
And I got the Pirates minus one and a half
taking on the White Sox in Chicago.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
So, again, we got 49ers plus three and a half.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
Yankees minus 1.5 and Pittsburgh Pirates minus 1.5. And remember,
I'm not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling
you who I bet on.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
All right.
Speaker 6 (37:32):
1-1-1.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
We'll see what you got cooking today. Rob, what do
you make, man?
Speaker 1 (37:36):
Listen, the game you just mentioned, the Rams just get
there in Australia. You got the 49ers who've been there
for several days. You and I have talked about this
for two years I've been on this show just because
obviously they have different international games. And it's one of
the few things, you know, we actually agree on in
that it's just getting ridiculous. I'll give you, you know,
a celebratory London game here. There are celebratory Mexico City.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
I get it. Toronto or something.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
But the idea of taking teams all the way across,
halfway across the world. when they've expressed players, coaches, you know,
folks with teams that are not necessarily players and coaches,
have all expressed, we don't want to go. This is
bad for us. We got, is the 49ers way the
right way? Is the Rams way the right way? And
it just seems to me the NFL, like always, everything
(38:20):
has to be their way. There's no conceding. There's no
concession of saying, all right, we'll give you guys one.
You know, we'll do some international games, maybe in London
or Italy or something.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
But you're right. We'll hear you guys and not go
to Australia.
Speaker 7 (38:31):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
I just think that's ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
It's very simple. I've said it a million times. Until
the players say we're not going to Australia, how's that?
And just don't go or stop going on the international track. Like,
how do you stop something? How about everything being set
up and you refuse to get on a plane to go?
Will you think they'll schedule another game in Australia? I'm
(38:54):
dead serious.
Speaker 7 (38:55):
Right.
Speaker 5 (38:56):
That's all it takes. It's not rocket science. But too
many people, this is the problem. If you're not willing
to stop the money, then you will always be a
slave to it.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
Stop the money. Stop the greedy owners. Stop Roger Goodell.
Speaker 5 (39:15):
Stop them in their tracks.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
No.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
They got new leadership with the union. I swear to you,
if they don't get.
Better health care and a better pension plan.
Speaker 5 (39:30):
Because I already know they're going to bend over and
take the 18th game. So if you don't get that,
then I have no respect for you and you deserve
everything you get.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
You deserve a poor medical.
Speaker 7 (39:43):
Plan.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
You deserve a poor pension. That's what you deserve because
that's what you've accepted.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
They have to fight for something.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
They're not fighting for anything.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
They don't fight for anything.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
And the problem is the league is so freaking big
that you got too many guys that are like, man,
I'm here, and I'm with you, but I just can't
lose this check.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
I'm not you, Patrick Mahomes. I'm not you.
Speaker 5 (40:02):
