Rob and Kelvin debate whether the addition of Myles Garrett really proves that the Los Angeles Rams are pushing all-in on a run to the Super Bowl, tell us how the NFL tried to hijack the NBA calendar yet again, and take a trip out to Shekel City for Rob's nightly bets. Plus, The Athletic’s Jared Weiss swings by to discuss the ascension of Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs, why Chet Holmgren’s no-show in Game 7 was so puzzling, why it’s unlikely that we’ll see another team become as great as quickly as the Spurs have become, and much more!

Committed to memory eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
for you lay who can't figure out letters and numbers

(02:02):
eight seven seven trigonome six sixty three sixty nine. Say,
and if you hear feedback on the line, it's your
own fault. It means only one thing you forgot to
turn down the radio? Was that uh Perry Mason? Or
was that Jesus? I just want to make sure.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Yo, we aired that spectrum. We did not on the
air air, but we do a thing at this we
call it by the last hour. People are like, and
Shot to Scotty, he's probably gonna take this what we're
talking about now. He scholars through hour show here and
he takes clips and he makes just wild one minute
little word and you made it first thing we do.
It comes right in, It ends with the Laker girls,
then it runs right into you. I mean, you don't

(02:39):
know if Perry Mason, oh, but you knew Jesus. And
then then I go, he just put it into like
a gospel sor or something, so Shot, I know Scotty's
gonna pull this too.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
I think I'm moving to Mexico. That's right, all right?
And uh also, if you call it here and have
a problem with what we say to you, tough, because
well I'm talking to you the way I want to
talk to you. Do you have a problem, turn off
your station. All that said, always remember the odd Couple
was filmed in front of a live audience. Sweet yeah,

(03:13):
all right, let's go big show. Let me welcome and
my co host who was very wrong on Game seven,
Kelvin Washington, very very wrong. Your team, your team, they're
gonna win games. Wait, man, they're gonna come back. The
only down my seat. They cut it to six and
a half. They're gonna win by six. Oh no, they're
gonna win Game seven because they're the more experienced team.

(03:35):
And and I'm just saying you're okay. See they flamed out.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
They did first of all, your okay, see I had this
is not a horse in the race. I just thought
they picked I said I picked them early. I wouldn't
go change. I'm not I'm not asking to change. I'm
just saying you still were confident. I thought they Honestly,
we talked about a little bit. Me and Rob Giina
car there's a whole nother conversation with You don't want
me on that call because when they Jane, we're playing
fifty four minutes. I believe the whole series that that

(04:01):
was a difference maker to me.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
They also came in and won Game one. In Game
seven on the road, like.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
They they listen to Spur I said, if anybody could
beat them, it's the Spurs, like they were built to be,
and they beat them up all during the regular season.
They have an amazing roster and it's scary how freaking
young they are. You don't normally do this, So credit
to Spurs. Yeah, I know, I listen when we get
to that topic. Oh, I'll be having some smoke with people.
If I was SGA, they wouldn't want autumn Autumn watches

(04:27):
I bought everybody. You keep it, you keep it, give
me that, you give me that back, you can keep yours.
But uh, but yeah, it'll be a good fucking final
Spurs versus the Knicks, who you didn't have in there.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
No, not at all. You like the I mean, I'm
not saying to pick them, but you actually they I couldn't.
I saw them play against Atlanta and I saw them
last year after they beat Boston. I've seen this team before.
It ain't last year. No, I still know the thing
about this for me. I'm just saying Pacers. The Pacers
are the thing for me that make me go the

(04:59):
Knicks there. I think the Knicks are a better team
than the Pacers were. And the Pacers were right there,
you know what I mean, they were an achilles away.
So I'm like, I just I just looked at it.
Nobody when they when they lost those two games to
the Hawks, people were questioned it everything that they were doing.
And I'm just saying, oh, Jalen Brunton with that hero
ball and all that other stuff. I'm just saying that
was that wasn't three months ago.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
It was like a month and a half. Okay, can
they change in a month and a half. I've seen
you change. I've seen you go from eating everything in
sight now you don't eat nothing but bark.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
There you go. I'm staying right there. All right, Let's
welcome in the odd Couple crew, because we wouldn't be
able to do this fine radio program without him. That's
not Alex. Rob G is our producer. Rob G is
our producer. You gotta play butt Mexican. You gotta play
butt Mexican, all right, rob Z he said, don't play that. Yeah, okay, USC,
Chris is our engineer today I am batting about I

(05:52):
think six point fifty after missing that one, we're gonna
try to work on it.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
But Alex does not put anything in the right place.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
No, it's all the is. It is just thing. I
get it. But there still should be one for people
fill in and all the buttons and it says on
the script button one button.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
There is one that's for everybody. But Alex has juiced
it up so many different times that it's But I'm
just saying.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
I'm just saying, if you have a you're not wrong. Okay.
You notice everybody's not going to be here every day,
so we already know that. You know what I mean.
So so we've Chris. We're not mad at you, USC, Chris.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
No, I'm I'm I am trying to just better.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Just it's different. Most people just turn on their microphones
and they boire you for three years. So are you
mad at making it better than what it was? No, Alex.
What Alex does is great.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
But Chris has the basic like he has the everyone
has the basic.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
One there is on a couple of walls, and.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Then you're missing it. Alex is keeping himself hirable and hired.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
That's all you do.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
He is keeping himself where he you need me, That's
what he's doing it. That's what he's doing, keeping they wear. Hey,
you've got to have your boy for this.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Keep us up and I'm just gonna play Jerry Jones
drops tomorrow when I'm in.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Are you in tomorrow too?

Speaker 4 (07:07):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Okay, I'm taking off. I'm just kidding. I'm kidding. Thanks Chris,
Steve the.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
I don't have the patience to jack with you today.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
All right, Steve the sagas at the anchor desk and
keep us updated throughout the program. You got a mood
on this, I can already tell. And I thought you
had a good weekend off. But are you on TV? Yeah?
I didn't get a chance to see. How do you do? Good?
You know what I mean? I love it. It's actually
a dream job, is it? Mario still no Olivia? But
Mario was in because Olivia was on her honeymoon. Yeah,

(07:39):
there you go, thank you. I was gonna say, rob g,
don't go there because already Elijah pushed back on social media.
Elijah is our social media Google. Elijah was trolling me
because when Chris did you see the picture of him
and his Chris wife christ And they didn't win the
m me, they didn't win them and so I first

(08:01):
thing and I said, and I just said, I never
miss it dot dot Okay. So elijahs like, stop, stop
it stop.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Did you see it? Rob g Did you know he
wanted to weigh two? So they really want it. No,
don't put no, I just but I do it for
everybody's show.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
So it's not like I'm just doing it because I'm
mean against one.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
I don't know if he's to you or if he
actually doesn't watch anything but himself.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Which one you be watching?

Speaker 1 (08:28):
You get home, you give your NBC and get soon
as you get home, get some I have some salad
and dressing.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Intern. Actually no, I haven't seen myself on the Baseball
Show at all. I don't do that unless it's something
like a clip that I want. You know what I mean,
once you do the show I did. I was on
the show. It was like the old thing, you know,
do I need to read the paper? I write the paper?
All right, all right? I never missed it. Let's go there,
Rob g big train in the NFL, My goodness.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
Christ Man, A couple of big trains, but the biggest
one of the day.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Of course, our Cleveland.

Speaker 5 (09:01):
Browns have traded two time Defensive Player of the Year
Miles Garrett to our Los Angeles Rams for a Pro
Bowl pass rush of Jared Verus, first round pick next season,
a second round pick in twenty eight, and a third
rounder in twenty nine. But in summary, the best pass
rusher in football is back in Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
You know what they did, Rob, They did not go
full Rob Parker, and you know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Rob.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
When me and you get into it in the NBA,
you always tell me, how so and so is a
mad man? Right, You'll say joker Jannis because they got
their ring, and I hear the sentiment. But always ask you, like,
why can't I go for more? Why can I be
competing in year in year out? If I'm that good
or that great to try to win more? And that's
what the Rams have done over the last ten years

(09:50):
plus years. Whatever Deshan McVay air they got to the
Super Bowl, they said that ain't enough for Jared Goff
and they went and got Matthew Stafford. They've been good,
but they finally get to the super Bowl, they win it.
Then they also draft Tyd Simpson and a lot of
people are like, well, what's that for, because they're already
two years ahead planning for that. And I think this
is just another sentiment of where I like that. They

(10:11):
don't settle rob they don't say, well, we'll be pretty good.
Let's just see, let's just hope. They're like, no, we
are going for rings.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
And they go get to how many rings have they
won on Super Bowl appearances since they went to the
super Bowl? Wait a minute, how many super Bowl since
they how many years ago? That was three years ago,
and they're trying to get back. That's my point. They
don't just rest. I love that they see what's in
front of them. The Seahawks are the reigning Champson could
still be really good. They see the forty nine ers,

(10:38):
if god forbid, they're ever healthy, might be again competing
for that to get to the super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
We know they've made multiple appearances. They see the Eagles.
Was that a bad year? They're gonna bounce back. They
made the trade. They see what's in front of them.
That's just the NFC, let alone the AFC. And so
they made a massive move to go get a guy
like an Aaron Donald who can close out games for them.
And again, Verse was a really good player. He's not
Miles Garrett, right, and you only have to give up

(11:03):
some picks. And now you got a guy. To me,
they're looking at it as two years of you. If
you just be you, Miles Garrett. After that you can
be less than It's all right, if we just get
two years of you, best defensive player, arguably best player
in all of NFL got Cleveland a lot it didn't.
And that's from I'm glad you said that. What he
was able to do in Cleveland by himself, twenty three

(11:24):
sacks year in year out, all Pro, seven time All Pro.
What the heck is he gonna be able to do there?
Where the requirement is just go get me twelve sacks,
Just go get me thirteen four. I don't need twenty
three or got schematics. I've got other guys. We had
an offensive side of the ball where if we get
up fourteen seventeen, they're gonna have to pass. Put your pini,
your ears back, go get them. So more than anything

(11:45):
that just a singular player. I just like the mindset
rob of going to get somebody that puts you, hopefully
over the edge, gives you a chance to get back
to the super Bowl, hopefully win it if you're them,
And I just love the competitive edge of the McVeigh
Lesnie the whole team that won ain't enough being good,
just enough. They felt like that Seahawks should have been

(12:06):
ours with super Bowl credit. The Seahawks were beating them,
they felt like that should have been ours, and they're
going back to go trying to get back at it,
getting the best player in football. I love it, and
kudos to them for competing year in year out.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Once again just window dressing. This is window dressing. This
wasn't the need of theirs, and I get how good
Miles Garrett is. The reason they lost was because they're
special teams and they're kicking game and Matthew Stafford against
Atlanta giving up home field. That's why they didn't get
to where they wanted to get to. It wasn't because

(12:40):
they couldn't get to the quarterback or they couldn't close games.
It was because of their what special teams. This is
just adding whip cream. Nobody in their right mind is
going to stamp them and say they got Miles Garrett.
They're guaranteed to win the super Bowl guarantee. No they're not.

(13:02):
They're not guaranteed. I get it. It feels good. It
ripples as a ripple effect. Wow, look what we got.
Just like when the Green Bay Packers went out and
got the next Lawrence tailor, they going to the super Bowl.
Look at what they did the Packers. How did that
work out? Did they get to the super Bowl? No,
they didn't get to the super Bowl, just like the

(13:25):
Rams aren't guaranteed to get to the super Bowl. And
it's all good. It ain't about not trying. But look
at your team and figure out what went wrong last
year and how do we build it. They had a
good young player that he was fine there, fine, there's
no like, uh, you went from a zero to a ten.
That's not what you went for from a seven or

(13:47):
eight to a ten. I get it. But this does
not mean that the Rams are lock solid super Bowl champs.
It's window dressing. It's extra hrip cream or a piece
of cheesecake from the cheesecake factory. Wait a minute, factory
and gave you extra It's just extra week. Go to

(14:12):
cherry and put the cherry on top of you. Ad it, listen,
and that's all. And that's all it is. That's what
they are. They're grandstandards. F the picks. We're gonna do this,
We're gonna do that. But they weren't the same amount
of championships, all right as most of these other teams
that win one and go away. That's what they did
last year. They was supposed to go. Matthew Sava was

(14:33):
they didn't go. They didn't go to the super Bowl
last year.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
I love rob that they're acknowledging this, this particular win
was and the reason why they didn't go though, you
don't go, you don't know, not go get the best
player in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
That doesn't even make any sense. Why were we because
that it's not always? Is that was that really your need?
Or is it? It looks good, it makes you feel good.
Don't get me wrong.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
You just went out and you just got some other
pieces for they win, other pieces of what you need.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
The Los Angeles Rams went out and bought a Ferrari
and they work from home. They don't even drive to work.
That's what they did by getting Miles Garrett.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
So so somebody who gets at the quarterback more than
anybody ever except Reggie White at this first nine eight
nine years of his career.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Is a bad thing. Wasn't there? They make any sense
to me? Isn't there?

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Absolutely wasn't extra possessions. You're gonna get extra possessions. You're
gonna doesn't guarantee you anything. Nothing guarantees you anything. That's
certainly nothing. So that you're my Joe.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
They win the super Bowl today by getting the best
defensive player in the NFL the super Bowl question? Did
they win the super Bowl today?

Speaker 1 (15:45):
No, Okay, we don't know. They got a great chance
to get to the super Bowl. Then that's what they're
supposed to do. We're supposed to get there, be locked
in and be ready to give ourselves a chance year
and year out. And that's what you want from a team.
You know how many team I'm looking at somebody right now,
Rob look at him, shaking his head. He wished he
had a team that was able to make moves at
least make them competitive and give us up a chance every.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Year eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Should the
Rams be applauded for land in Miles Garrett or all
just window dressed with cream on your cheesecake. You know
you'll be happy. We'll continue this conversation next with you.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
All right, eight seven we should get knocked out.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Yeah, she might get out. You know a little rust.
It's man, what three four? You know what I'm saying.
It's been a minute. Yeah, so she gotta knock their rustle.
I knew she was coming back though I knew it.
She was getting in too much great shape, robbers. You
can't getting that much for no reason. Just walk around
the house. Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox The Rams,
they get Miles Garrett in a big trade. The question
is is that automatically bumped them to Super Bowl favorites

(18:18):
for you? Is it just a nice pickup but doesn't
guarantee anything? Window dressing, window dressing. They need a special team.
You want to you want to kick her over?

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Miles Garrett, crag Gregg and what'sita You're in the couple
of Fox Sports Radio. Once they get an all new
group of followers, all special team college players and NFL
about to start following, you wait to support us? Rob?
What's up? Greg?

Speaker 7 (18:41):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (18:42):
How are you?

Speaker 3 (18:44):
I'm good?

Speaker 7 (18:44):
I can't decide with Rob on this from They got
better at a position, but that position is it? On
kept them for winning?

Speaker 6 (18:54):
It was special team.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
That's all I'm That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying
that you wouldn't take them, but but but but all
I'm saying is like you had a good young player
in that, That's all.

Speaker 7 (19:05):
But they're like they're like the Dodgers be where did
they get all the money to keep buying these players?

Speaker 2 (19:11):
At some point though, Greg, at some point you got
to pay up, Like like their day will come where
they'll have to pay up. But you know what they do.
You're right, Dodgers will have to pay at some point. Well,
but they don't have to pay, right, they keep kicking
the can down the road. Thanks for the call, Greg.
The thing that the Rams do with the blanked them picks.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
They give up the first rounders they don't mind, but
the third, fourth, fifth, sixth that's where they make their money.
And to your point, that's what they don't have to
pay people for three four years. They end up picking
great players third, four to fifth, sixth round and that
they can hold on to.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
Drew in New Jersey. You're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Drew? Yeah, this this right here
pushes it.

Speaker 6 (19:52):
If he wins, it just pushes him past for Rogers
and breasts.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
Stop stop stop stop stop.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
No, it doesn't he doesn't even He wouldn't even you know,
he's not even an All Pro at any point of
his career. Well, you don't have to stop, he said.
He pushing past Air Rogers, Yeah, and Bradshaw. If he
wins it, stop you don't even have He never been
an All pro quarterball a quarterback. Stop. That's interesting eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox MJ in New Orleans during

(20:22):
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radios.

Speaker 7 (20:25):
T the Bread Partner with rom Stars Brutherly he's.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
Still with it.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Beny brother, what's up?

Speaker 7 (20:33):
You got it? You got it? Hey, Professor rob Jadadia Parkley,
he's not on the feeling on popular tolls. Sounds like
he's on feeling it for waldorgh In the story of
the day, being mister hyperbolic. Only the round a mound
of rebound offers guarantees, and most of those don't even

(20:55):
tan out nobody.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
I know because Kelvin gave me a guarantee about ok
see winning uh and going to the NBA five US again.
Remember Kelvin, Yeah, that was the guarant He told me
that they were m J. After they after they cut
it to six, he told everybody on the way out,
robbed you did he not? Oh, they cut it to six,

(21:17):
They're gonna win by six. They're gonna do this to
the seven cut it to seven. Okay, but m J.

Speaker 7 (21:23):
I listened every day and no, he did not say that.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
But he did say that game six what he did.
But I guarantee you go ahead.

Speaker 7 (21:32):
No guarantee though, No guarantee. Hey, Rob Man, I'm calling
in just for all you know, the spots fans like myself. Now,
you're not gonna promps Rob. So I'm just letting you know, Man,
you need to let me get on that hot seat
man one sign for New Orleans.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Yeah, we're gonna hey, you know what this summer, Rob, No,
the hot seat. We were supposed to do it this summer.
We're gonna try to make a plan. MJ. You could
get on there. I got barbecue sauce for you.

Speaker 7 (21:58):
Rob d Man, I need that rop Tigo things. You
can get it so good next week for my uh
michill on take pos I need that.

Speaker 6 (22:05):
Man.

Speaker 7 (22:06):
You guys have a great show, no doubt. Till man
I take y'all out every day. Y'all know that.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Man appreciate it, no doubt. You know. I just thought
about to the last.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Remember, the Rams defense was ended up being fool gayzy
as you would like to say. The last seven eight weeks.
We thought they were great and everybody's putting up thirty
piece on them. Rember they ran off thirty something on
them game at the game, at the game. So yeah,
I agree the special teams let them down in a
handful of game without it, that's without a doubt. But
the defense was not what we all thought it would
be on paper. In the first four or five six games

(22:37):
were all many, but they made but they already had
showed that up. That was the secondary that they had
an issue, and they went out in.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
That and that's what they went out and got. They
got mcduffee and Miles there.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
If they won, they won offseason Miles if I told
you got Miles Gary McDuffie to already really good team
and Sam Ronald McDonald went crazy on them, buck three
point fifty touchdown on them, and you know that's how
they were able to prepare to get to the Super Bowl.
So they needed some defense. I'm not disagreeing that the
special tick because they had games in the bag. You're like, well,
we're about to get this game and miskick miskick or

(23:08):
block other team's blocking you. So but they also needed
some defensive help for sure. All right on the way,

Player of the day as well. But right now we
are joined by Jared Weiss covers the Spurs in the
NBA for the Athletic Jared Weiss's NBA on X. Give
him a follow, Jared, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Man? Man?

Speaker 6 (23:50):
We got me some lemon pepper wings that we're doing
Magic City Monday.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Always, It's always a Magic City Monday. Are you kidding?

Speaker 1 (23:56):
On the odd couple? Are you a flats or drummer?
Are you like oh fly know? Are you like the
rest of us? It don't matter. Just give me some wings.

Speaker 6 (24:03):
I'm a viurial shoe. I'm a drumstick guy. It's just
it's just easier to get right into it. I don't
have the patients for flats.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Man, y'all go what do you mean you don't have
the patience for flats. It's the best juiciest part of
the chicken. Don't eat the daggo chicken. Both of y'all
driving me crazy. Whatever they bring out is what you get.
I'm sorry, I digress. All right. All I know is
I felt, Hey, here we go. You know, I want
you to know, Jared, I've been on the Winby bandwagon
for a long time. I even made a song about Wimby.

(24:30):
Here we go. We got it, all right.

Speaker 4 (24:35):
It is labeled Weby.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
That's not so get it all right, Jared? All right,
they did it. The young kid will find a song.
I didn't know. I don't know that was coming, Jared
was anyway, tell us about a big game seven. They
went Game one, Game seven. One knows it's whimsy. There
you go, there you go, there we go. Everybody knows

(24:59):
is Wemby.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
How amazing are you that they were able to get
this done such a young team like the Spurs.

Speaker 6 (25:06):
Was that a Michael made it? Be? Wow? There was
some fire right there.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Wait a minute, Wait a minute, one more time. He
loves it. One more time. Here we go. Everyone knows
it's whimy. Mike Will made it. Wait ay, you don't know.
I'm doing a full version of the song to start
the NBA Finals, so it'll be done.

Speaker 7 (25:27):
Well.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
I don't know either. I know. I'm just telling you too,
all right, anyway, we're asking you. I'm sorry, Jared, just
how shocked are you that they made it. They got
to the finals where people thought, maybe, you know, a
nice run. They're not ready yet, they're too young. Okay,
see he's a little more experience. Obviously, they're defending champs.
I was not surprised, But how surprised were you?

Speaker 6 (25:49):
Im moderately surprised? I mean, okay, see, the experienced factor
clearly was winning for them for the first five games
of the series, where their persistence there, liability, their game plans, savvy,
their aggression, and most importantly like their willingness to push
the rules beyond the boundaries to get it done and
win it all costs. Like you know, people complain about

(26:12):
their style of play, whether it's the flopping or the
aggressiveness on defense. Does anybody remember a champion for being
too thirty or too floppy or whatever. Now you just
remember the team that won the championship and you win
however you can't and the thunder we're doing that in
the Spurs finally learned and responded in kind. And also
it helped that Victor really found himself and just turned

(26:34):
it on. And you know, once Victor's playing at his best,
it's they don't seem to lose and if he gives
them their best to get of course of the final series,
they're going to win the championship.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
Let me ask you about the injuries did that How
much of a role did it play for you? They
obviously were out here in Fox early. He comes back, Harper,
We thought we was going to be out longer. He
comes back earlier. And is that the difference where Ja
Dubb and AJ Mitchell were out?

Speaker 6 (26:59):
Yeah, I think that's you know, usually the championship is
won by the team that stays the healthiest over the
course of the gauntlet of the playoffs. That tends to
be how it is, and the Spurs they had the
health advantage there where you know, I think the Thunder
laid up to the level that you would expect from
them regardless of who was healthy. But just from a
game plan ability, the lack of that second elite creator

(27:21):
and Jdubb hurt them so much. Who knows that they
would have gotten from Aj Mitchell because he wasn't having
a good series before he got hurt, so I'm sure
he would have found his way eventually. Might have been
a little bit more feast or famine. But like the
they were without their second best player, and that really
limited their options, especially in the fourth quarter of those
losses where they were completely relying on Shae to get

(27:42):
everything done and Shay couldn't get off the ball to
hit another great creator who could tear apart the backside
of these Spurs. Who's been phrasing there, But you know,
Wenby is also there to equalize all that, Like Wenby
is your failsafe that allows you to get beaten in
rotation and then still have somebody that's it all down.
So I think probably the Spurs would have won regardless

(28:05):
of Tiger that healthy. But and you know, and listen man,
credit to Harper, who didn't look good when he first
came back from his injury, and then in that Game
six he just found something truly truly special there. And
then in Game seven, Darn Fox, who his ankle sprain
was really killing him in that series, and he ended
up playing just like one of the best games of
his career in that Game seven. The Spurst stepped up

(28:26):
and regardless of what was in front of them, they
maximize their ability in that series and they won the
series and they earned it.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
It's unbelievable though Chet turned to goo right there. That nice. Well,
I know we haven't gotten there yet, but but Jared,
I mean it. I would rather you shoot a John
Stalks three for seventeen, lose the seriously lose the finals,
right because you shot three for seventeen in game seven
or whatever it was, then to take two shots where

(28:56):
you know your team can't win if you're taking two shared,
I mean, how stunned. I don't care who's guarding me,
what the situation is, I have to put up shots.

Speaker 6 (29:08):
I was puzzled by what I was watching out a
chet On offense. I mean, I expect so much more
out of him. I know he expects so much more
out of himself. He never looked comfortable putting the ball
on the floor, He never forced his way in there.
They also didn't really run enough pick and rolls and
you know, really trying to find angles on pick and
rolls to get him downhill and take advantage of his athleticism.
But there was something missing there from him, and I

(29:33):
was shocked. I really thought over the course of seven
games he would establish himself and just get physical and aggressive,
and it just never happened. And it's so disappointing because
he's such a good player and he's still very early
in his career, and I'm hoping this will be that
that big lesson and just like that huge humiliation that
fueled him to be like to get in the lab
of the summer and be like, I got to be

(29:53):
a downhill force with the ball. I got to be
able to go right at people. I need to be
confident enough in my shot that I stopped that. I
don't stop shooting the ball. The biggest series of the season,
like he we know he's way better than this, and
that was.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
He he ain't gonna be on my time. But let
me tell you this, let me tell you before before
you bury him. Seriously, I covered the game where Scottie
Pippen had the migraine headache holding a water bag to
his head in a Game seven in Detroit. Okay, Like,
and he overcame that and the Bulls went on to
do that thing. So be careful to Burier, Be careful

(30:25):
a Burier guy. I'm just saying, Jared, I was there.
People like Scotty will never get over this, you know
what I mean, Like like not being able to play
and he got a migraine. He on the bench, all
that kind of stuff and whatnot, and he did. I
get he's a really good player.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
You and I will argue later because I have a
difference of why that this is different than that Jared
Wise's all with the Ick Cup on the Magic City Monday.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
I want to go back to the Spurs real quick.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
They may be the last team to do this, and
that is to get Win, be castled in Harper because
of the way the whole new tanking anti tanking situation,
you can't get three top five picks. They were able
to secure Wimby then get Castle and Harper, who were
probably the three best players are in that order.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Great was that front office and getting those guys and
seeing the talent when other teams could have got Obviously
no I wouln't be he was number one, but they
could have got cast So other teams could have got
Harper and they didn't. And now you see how well
these guys are playing at such what are they twenty two,
twenty one and twenty.

Speaker 6 (31:22):
Crazy crazy? It's it's insane, man, you know. And even
like Fox who seems like the old Vet, he's only
twenty eight. So I know this team it's the set
if they would win the championship this year. Only the
seventy seven Blazers of Bill Walton would be a younger
championship team, So they're they're just getting started here. I mean,
you know, the Harper pick was kind of the obvious pick,

(31:43):
and it as great as a season as Tonkin Nipple had,
I think it was pretty clear they made the right
choice there. Harper just looks like he looks like an
MVP caliber player in the making. But that Castle picked
absolute home run, you know, one of the one of
the better picks we've seen in recent memory, because that
draft was of a crapshoot, and now you look back
at it and you're like, how is Steph not number
one overall? Like he seems like he was obviously the

(32:05):
best player in that draft right now. So to get
a guy with the compete level that he has and
the skill set that he has, and he's even improving
as a shooter this year, and we'll see if that
translates into the series. But like, I mean, that guy,
he just, you know, I think people overrate skill sets
and measurements and all that stuff in the draft when

(32:26):
you get to the playoffs, as we're seeing here, you know,
chat Holgrim a guy that has all the skills, all
the all the measurements. But Steph Castle was the superstar
in that series because that man is an animal and
he is a bloodthirst on both ends of the court,
and he plays like his life depends on it and
he never stops going. And so we see that motor
and determination are the two most important skills in an

(32:47):
NBA championship or suit, and castles off the charts in
those things.

Speaker 1 (32:51):
Wow doubt Hey, it's gonna be a great man. We
got a couple of days for the final start. We'll
see what happens then, Jared, appreciate your.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Time, brother. I enjoy those flats, not always always. So wait,
let me ask you something.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Somebody gives you twenty wings, but like fifteen of them
are drums.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
What do you do you just eating the five? I'm
only eating five. I'll give the rest to the staff.
You really.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
Don't say I never give you anything. Don't nobody want
your leftovers? Stop bringing in your leftovers? Hey, guys, I
got some cupcakes. Well it was a dozen. I've eaten
six of them, but fresh. There's no reason why you
wouldn't eat them. If I brought him wings and they
were all drums. Would you would you look at him
and go them?

Speaker 2 (33:33):
I'd buy my own, Rob g Would you not eat
my all drums if I bought him? Of course he would.
Chris Wood? Would you you?

Speaker 4 (33:41):
The flats is me to drums. We're like the perfect
pair on that.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
How you go? I mean, I'll be the perfect couple. Dang,
it will be the high couple. We'll be next mine up,
we'll be the young couple. I'll post that picture. Give
me six and six all right, I want to mix
it up? Why are you making me choose? All right?

Speaker 1 (33:55):
Shekel City on the Way plus tirerack Player of the
day and uh, it's just interesting with it. NFL did
to the NBA will tell you that as well. See
Odd Couple on a Magic City Monday, Fox Sports Radio.
But before we go there, we got to tell them
about M drive ride.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
That's right. And when they first came to me, I'll
be honest, I never heard of M drive.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
I didn't either, but then of course started to pay
attention to what was going on with my body.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
Had to do something right, I figured it because the
same with me. After forty energy, what are my forty two.
Now energy drops. You know, weight won't move, the gym
stops giving back what you put in. I hate it.
I hate it. And then you started to think, is
it me? It's not it's testosterone. Did you hear that fire?
Come on?

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Man?

Speaker 2 (34:39):
A week and a half, it declines after forty I
mean I did go to ivy League school. I read
this one you got on the shirt today? Yeah? No,
no school. Uh? And it takes everything with it, that's right.
That's right.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
MJ is built for exactly that. So you pop pop
pop a couple of tack capsules in the morning with
clinically testing ingredients that support healthy testosterone and jos.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
Did you say that testosterone and metabolism too. By the way,
here's what got me. A scientist named Gary Keyhole, right,
built this thing almost twenty years ago for himself after
feeling the same change.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
Yeah, and we're both starting to work in our health.
We're getting in shape, we're getting spelt.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
That's right. Drive is part of that. Over one million
men use it, sixty eight money back guarantee. We're in
the middle of this and so far gotta same. That's right.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
It is you look at felt that that that you
might need a smaller jacket.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
No, this is good. This is my size. I read
it to be a little bit big, and I puffed out. Look, okay,
look at you. You know I'm not messing around. All right,
we're in the middle of this. I said that already.
Mdrive formen dot com code is couple twenty percent off
the first door twenty percent. That's a whole lot.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
So go take advantage of that at M drive for
men dot com.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Hey, Calvin, what's that?

Speaker 3 (35:50):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (35:50):
M drive is for men who still show up. That's right, hey, Kelvin,
go get M drive.

covers the Spurs in the NBA for the athletic Joined
US Robs. You have that up on the podcast in
a little bit. All right, It's now time to get
to Shekel City.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Welcome to Shekel City, the home base for Rob Parker's
daily picks against the Sprat.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
Had to do all right one and two on Friday night.
I am one fifty and one, twenty thirty games over.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
I'm gonna I call forty five or down fifteen beat
only fifteen over.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
You've been at thirty for like because it's always like
too and I know it's hard to get over like
I need like going a crazy run. Oh, come on
back down to earth, I know, well right now, So
I got the White Sox. I'm at the Twins, Twins
minus one and a half. Okay, Cardinals plus one and
a half. They host the Rangers, get the Tigers, and
this what you do? No, I didn't do that. I

(37:13):
wish I would have been up six nothing six two.
Now it was about to be worse. Look, oh oh,
would we like to metro with watching the other night?
And I was crying nothing. We looked at seven and
seven and then I've got the Angels minus one and
a half they host the Rockets. So again, here we go,
Twins minus one and a half. My best bet Cardinals

(37:35):
plus one and a half and the Angels minus one
and a half and Kelvin. Yeah, I'm not telling you
who to bet On, I'm telling you who I better.

Speaker 1 (37:45):
One of my favorite pastimes is me and you doing
our show. We kind of see something that we could,
you know, get in the middle of our segments. Then
we look back up and it's a team blown out
or came back and all that, and that is hilarious.
How that happens so many times We'll be.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Sitting here, Well, the one was last year doing the
basketball play. Would like to those games who were like
what we looked over We're like, wait a minute, the
score and they were just from down by fifteen. That
makes no sense, right, Like what the heck? See?

Speaker 1 (38:07):
I love doing that all right, there you have a
shekel See. Let's get to your Tirereck Player of the day.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
Runners at second and third judge my fly ball center field,
shallow butler charges in, still going, still going, banks.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
It Aaron Judge, Yankees Radio on your guy, Aaron Judge
right there of course, doing his thing. And that is
your tire rec Player of the Day, brought to you
by tire Reck. For over forty years, Tirereck's been helping
customers find the right tires for how, for what, and
for where they drive ship fast and free back by
free road has a protection with convenient installation options like

(38:39):
mobile tire installation, tire reck dot com. It is the
way tire buying should be. I was just laughing earlier,
Rob how the NBA boom. You got the finals coming
up and I know we'll we'll ramp up to it
on Wednesday, but you know, big game and you got
the Spurs over the now the thunder and the NFL
was like, hold my beer.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
And NFL was like, oh that word okay. The NBA
that was cute. That was cute.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
And then they dropped the Miles Garrett obviously the AJ
Brown trade as well, which we talk about.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
This stage in the NBA Finals. Isn't it start to Wednesday? No?

Speaker 1 (39:12):
No, No, I'm just saying it's the idea that they
could just like that's how big it is, you know
what I mean that you dropped this trade in the
middle of nothing as far as your season, Like it's
not like we're near September or anything, and it ends
up being the big thing on all the because it
happened on Saturday, the game, so all the shows like
US are on Monday, and that's like the lead thing.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
Is that? Yeah? I mean because the game is old.
I mean, we can't, to be honest, you know what
I mean. I mean, I get it.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
You know, just one of those like dang NFL's King.
But it should be a great finals on man, I'm
looking forward to that. And New York Knick fans are
gonna be obnoxious in a good way in the sense
that it'll be fun for the NBA for this season
and we don't need, we don't need.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
Too much just for this season. That'll be fun.

Speaker 1 (39:54):
Speaking of which, we were talking about a little bit
about Chat. We're gonna talk about that next hour as well.
And then it's okay, a team dynasty. Is it over
or not? Could they have still been one? We'll tell
you next
