I'll tell you what. The last time he and I
were in Atlanta together and the couple fans know that he,
Chris and I were there for the Super Bowl Rest
in peace, Chris. We saw he's no longer with us,
and we'd go after the show, go out to dinner.
We'd have a good time to get some drinks, to
go back to the hotel, and we all took one
elevator caause the way the hotel was built. It was
one elevator and the rooms went in a big circle.

So I would get off, Chris would get off, Rob
would get off. We all turned in our Uber receipts
at the end of the week. Mine and Chris would
write about three hundred dollars like each somewhere within twenty
bucks each other. Rob's was five hundred and something nice like, well,
how is that possible? So Rob gives me his receives
to turn in for reimbursements. And it turns out five

minutes after we all went up to our rooms, Rob
Parker was going right back down to Magic City.

we're gonna start with the NBA. The NBA schedule came
ouy yesterday. We talked about a little bit with Jayleen Brown,
and I don't know about you, but personally, I think
the schedule is stupid. Like the people who freak out
about you know, what's going on and who you're playing,
especially in the NFL, like have an entire night dedicated

to the schedule release party, and it's it's whatever to me,
Like they're gonna we already know who you're gonna play.
Is just when you're gonna play it, right? And then
so I let other people really comb through the details.
And now I feel stupid for saying it's stupid because
one person did the heavy lifting one nerd and pointed
this out about the Philadelphia seventy six ers schedule. Number One,

they don't play a Western Conference team until the eighteenth
game of the season.

Convenient.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
They don't play a road game against the Western Conference
team until the twenty first game.

They don't have a Western Conference road trip until Christmas.
They have the least amount of three games and four
nights on their schedule of any team in the league.
They have the least amount of back to backs of
any team in the league, while simultaneously having the most
national television games.

That's it, those three thirty four and actually games.

The favoritism is so real, it's crazy, it seems. Why
is the NBA scared to let go of Lebron? I
don't know, because that's what it seems like, right Like
they're afraid that once he's gone, that's it the league
is not going to be what it is, and I
don't know why they feel like that, especially with what
we saw even just last year with the NBA Finals

with the Spurs and the Knicks, and how much people
were into that NBA Finals, Like, why are.

They scared to let go? To move on?

It is part of life And at this point it
makes no sense because you said it perfectly in our
pre show meeting meeting that I don't know how much
Lebron brings in positive, exactly stuff to the league in
the last couple of years.

No, he's been around for soon.

You mentioned last year the NBA Finals, the highest rated
NBA Finals since nineteen ninety eight, and last I checked,
Lebron has played in ten since then. So it's not
that the highest rated regular season game last season was
thunder Spurs, not involving the Lackers or Lebron James. And
just in terms of on court success, Lebron has been

one and done in the playoffs three of the last
six years. He's missed the playoffs entirely one time. He's
been swept twice, and that's with playing alongside Hall of
famers in Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic. So it's not
like he's dominating when he's on the court or his
teams are dominating when he's on the court. He's still
a very good player. But there's nothing special any longer

about Lebron James. And you mentioned that you don't think
that the impact he's had on the league recently especially
has been positive. I will say for our purposes like
sports media, he's been a guy because every he's a
lightning rod. People love to hate him one way or
the other. So it's great if we can do a

Lebron James topic and it makes sense, We're probably gonna
do it on FS one or Fox Sports Radio, whatever
your outlet is. But if I'm just talking in the
business of basketball and the NBA, I could argue pretty
easily everything about the Lebron James era of the NBA.

His entire legacy outside of him individually and his own
success has been negative. Okay, here's why. Number one, this
is no order player empowerment. There is not a single
fan who likes player empowerment because what happens is you
ultimately have situations like these sixers where you have all

the stars trying to join up on one team, Kevin
Durant jumping to a seventy three win Warriors team, right,
James Harden putting on a fat suo for six weeks
so we can get himself traded somewhere else, right, Like
it flies in the face of competition. Everything that we
love about sports is your best, my best. We're going dad,
and see what happens. Now it's your best and his best.
We're all gonna come together, and then we can make
(09:08):
a better team, and then we're just gonna un a
rough shot over everybody else. That's number one. Number two.
He made it seem like uncool to try at the
All Star Game, Like before Lebron James became the face
of the league, when it was still you know, Kobe,
and then before that Shack and Jordan Magic, like going backwards,
(09:29):
they would try hard for maybe fifty percent of the game,
like maybe right in the beginning of definitely right at
the end. Once Lebron became the unquestioned face of the league,
everybody's like, well, I don't want to embarrass myself. The
last thing I want is for Tracy McGrady throw off
the backboard and dunk on me, Like I don't want
that to happen.

So because Lebron was embarrassed by Kobe.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Yeah, so yeah, exactly exactly.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
So that's what left to the beginning.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
So I would rather not even try than risk getting embarrassed.
So here's another one. This is a smaller one, but
back in the day, in the early two thousand, even
in the late nineties, flopping was something that was reserved
for European players, Roddie Devac, you know, Monogenobili to a

very very lesser extent, like Tony Cooper, like they were
seen as they weren't as athletic, they weren't as big
and strong and fast as the American players. So that
was their way of gaming the system. Once Lebron James
made it cool for an American star, not just an
American star, the best player in the league to be like,
all right, I will fling my head back and sell
(10:33):
this call. I will take a dive. I'll act like
I hit in the eye and then cover my eye.
Then look for the camera real quick, like you saw
that video.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
It's so good.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Like then it became all right, well, Chris Paul's gonna
do it, James Harden's gonna do it, And now everybody
does it, and now it's part of the game. Now
it's like soccer in the NBA. So if I'm the
NBA at large, Adam Silver and the schedule makers and
all these guys, I'm like, why am I first and
foremost Kyle towing to a guy who hasn't really been
that impact recently relatively to the big picture, Like he's

not winning championships anymore, he's not at the top of
the standings anymore like he used to be back in
the day. Number one and number two? Why do I
continue to bend over backwards to a man whose long
term legacy is just as negative as it is positive
in the eyes of basketball fans.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
In everything you just said, I don't know if this.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Was your message to get across, because Lebron changed the
competitive nature of the NBA from top to bottom, and
that is what sucks the most about this, the player empowerment.
It's like there's a few games throughout the regular season
that maybe the players will compete at their highest But
(11:48):
that's why the NBA implemented the in season tournament to
try and get some competitive games, because everybody was just
waiting for the end of the season to get on
a run and get into the postseason, and once they
got into the season and their seat is locked, they
don't even care anymore. Like that all changed with Lebron James,
It really did.

And so here we are.

I agree for us on the on the side of media,
Lebron has given us, giving us reasons to talk every
single day, and it's awesome. But when it comes to
the sport itself, fans who don't care about sports media,
I feel like they tune in and hear Lebron James
take and they just tune out.

They're so over it.

It's it's and so it's it's exhausting, even though you
were talking about it, but there's a lot of fans
who find it find it exhausting.

Situation for me is at least say you're retiring, at
least will at least because now the favoritism is showing
how you just got to the seventy six ers and wow,
that's a nice start to the season, What a nice
little way to get in a groove for Philadelphia, which
is what any team would want exactly. So the favoritism
is very clear, But why it makes no sense as

you pointed out the last ten years, the high rated
games of not included Lebron James. He hasn't made it
far enough, he hasn't been in the playoffs. So long
enough he gets in and then he gets out quickly.
And I don't know what it is, but if he
would just announce that he's retiring, I would I would
not be as annoyed.

By Yah, then a lot of this would make sense.
It would be like, Okay, it's his last go round.
We don't know, you know, if they're gonna be good
or if not. We think they're gonna be good, but
just in case, we're gonna give them every opportunity to
be good, to be good so we can have the
story book ending.

So for his documentary that he's filming, we speak.

I don't want to say. I heard through unreliable sources
that one of the reasons he took the VET minimum
is because he's getting paid a fat check for that documentary.

He's gonna have probably one highlight defensive play where he's
cherry picking and then goes to the other side and we'll.

Block you, but then he needs a break. We all
know exactly.

What we're gonna get with Lebron James, and with all
the young talent where you don't know what you're gonna get,
you think you would lean into that a little bit
more because Lebron is at the end of his career.

Whether it's two years, three years, you think five, oh

And if you're gonna make the schedule in such a
favorable way for anybody wemby sitting right there, like if
there's any a guy that you want to get behind

get behind a brand and necessarily a player. The Nick
showed you this past playoff run that they are America's team.

for our reality. I think it's just as simple as
Lebron has earned his right to stay as long as
he wants, and Adam Silver will never say it, but

So you mentioned you you're Chargers, right, it's a big

talking point. Preseason. Football's underway. We got games coming on tonight.
We saw some yesterday and there's one player in particular
that I wanted to discuss. I'm not talking about Fernando
Mendozo Shock, who you dumped on I didn't know using
to go to the strip in Vegas because he wanted
to get it. You know, check tape and get into
his playbook. You think that's a problem. Now I'm talking
(22:42):
about another number one overall draft pick, cam Ward. Cam
Ward went five of twelve passing for fifty seven yards
and through what would have been an interception but it
was dropped. And those numbers don't even tell the story
because he missed a lot of wide open players, a
lot of layers that should have been there, and he
(23:03):
just was missing them. Not like he wasn't seeing, he
was just missing. And when I watch cam Ward play again,
it is the preseason. It's week one. But my mantra
about the preason has always been this, I don't care
if you play well in the preseason, right, Vanadamnosa looked
pretty good, Drew Aller looked awesome, he did cam Carson
Beck looked really good. Yeah, and it's like cool, but
(23:24):
it's just preseason. What I do care about is if
you look bad in the preseason. Because this is vanilla defenses,
vanilla offenses, you're supposed to look good. It's structured in
such a way so that everything is easy and you're
just getting back in the flow of things, so you're
supposed to look like a good NFL player. And cam
(23:45):
Ward did not, and this continues a trend that's been
going on for about a year now. Last season, cam
Ward and the Titans offense was in the bottom in
the NFL in most passing metrics, thirty first in EPA,
thirty first in passing suces. That's right. He had a
fifty six point four PFF passing grade and more turnover
worthy plays than Big Time throws thirty second pass yard
(24:07):
per game twenty eighth and QBR thirty for his pass rating.
First in sacks taken. I don't know if he's gonna
be first in that category, right hurt So in conclusion,
the whole thing was a disaster, And yet I hear
more commentary more slander directed at Chadeur Sanders than cam
Woard cam Ward last I check, was taken first overall,
(24:30):
and yet he can perform poorly, and he can look
like he doesn't belong in the NFL for stretches of
the game, and he can look like he should be
holding a clipboard stead holding a football, and nobody says
anything about it. Shador Sanders was taken what in the
sixth round, fifth round, something like that, something like that,
and if he has a bad practice, we know about
about it. Why on earth is cam Ward avoiding the

slander that Shaduur is getting showered with on a day
to day basis.

I don't have a great answer for you. Let's see
if we can get you an answer. Okay, well, let's
start with this. The Titans are not good.

Neither are the Browns.

Neither. But the Browns have a good defense. They that's
what they're that's what they lean into. That's what they
lean into. Even that division.

It's like, you play the Browns, you know they're gonna
play tough defense on you. They may not put any
points and that's how you win, right, But they have
a good defense and they lean on that. The Titans
are not good. Their O line is not good. It
was one of the worst ones last season. I don't
think they've improved it a lot. With cam Ward, he
gets the grace because he's a number one pick. I
know that doesn't make sense, but he gets the grace

because his team was so bad.

Now you have a new head coach.

You have a new system to learn, you have new
weapons that you're gonna throw to I hear what you're
saying that you want him to look good because you
are now entering your second year, and this is against
vanilla defenses, as you said, but it was only the
first one. I think Tennessee does have to make sure
that they know whether cam Ward is their future. I

just don't think I'm putting it on this preseason game.
I'm not judging it based on that. Now come week
three of the regular season and he still looks like
he's sped up, like uncomfortable in the pocket like he
did yesterday, then I guess you can have that conversation.
You're right, it's not fair that Shador Sanders literally whatever
happens to him at practice, we hear about it. But

Shador Sanders came into the league with a lot of
talks surrounding him in not the best way. It was
already a part of it. So I think that's hard
to shake off. And the only way that Shador Sanders
is gonna shake some of that off is by winning,
is by being good.

Now, cam Woard.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
Because he's a number one overall pick, I do think
he gets that grace. And because the Titans are just
they're not good. So it's like here, Robert Slay, maybe
this whole thing in Week one of the preseason, was
trying a bunch of weird stuff that they didn't but
they're not really gonna do because he seemed uncomfortable. I
hear what you're saying, Like the stat line is terrible,
but if you watched it, it's like it looks even

worse then the stat line shows he looked uncomfortable, not
like a number one overall pick going in a second year.

That's not what you would want to see, especially as
you mentioned the other new quarterbacks how they look exactly.
So it's like, but I'm not worried. I'm not worried
just yet.

Okay, So you say the one of the reasons why
he's avoiding criticism is because the Titans are not good,
which is totally fair. Would you also agree then that
one of the reasons he's avoiding it is that the
Titans are boring and nobody cares about them.

Yes, I think that is a fair assessment. That adds
to it, like they're not even if the Titans have a.

Good season, what is a good season for Tennessee, Like
nine wins? I don't know. I say six wins is
a good season for Tennessee.

Like even if they have a good season, no one
is looking looking at them like true contenders or like
that they're going to be one of those teams that
goes from worst to best.

Nobody is looking at them like that.

With Cleveland again, Cleveland at least has always leaned into
this identity of being a tough team to get through
because of their defense.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
But you're right, that's one thing that you know the
Browns have going for them, right, is that Cleveland the
Jets my Raiders. Recently, they've been so bad they've become
a punching like a punching bag, yea. So it's easy
to always point out how bad they are. Whereas if
you're the Tennessee it Titian's were a pretty decent team,

you know, several years ago and even when they were
Mike Rabel at their their heyday, they were the one seed,
i think in the playoffs, and nobody picked them to
make the super Bowl. So it's not even just that
they aren't good, it's that nobody has.

Yeah. Yeah, And so maybe that's good for cam Ward
that he can be terrible and no one is going
to say anything about it for now.

I'll pick this pressure at some point or the view
on cam Ward or does have to shift. We can't
just Tennessee cannot just treat him with kid gloves, you know,
because their team isn't good. At some point a decision
does have to be made whether he is the future
of Tennessee, if he is this franchise quarterback. But I'm
just I don't think they're there yet. I don't think

elevator caause the way the hotel was built. It was
one elevator and the rooms went in a big circle.

would get off. We all turned in our Uber receipts
at the end of the week. Mine and Chris would
write about three hundred dollars like each somewhere within twenty
bucks each other. Rob's was five hundred and something nice like, well,
how is that possible? So Rob gives me his receives
to turn in for reimbursements. And it turns out five

minutes after we all went up to our rooms, Rob
Parker was going right back down to Magic City.

And now I feel stupid for saying it's stupid because
one person did the heavy lifting one nerd and pointed
this out about the Philadelphia seventy six ers schedule. Number One,

they don't play a Western Conference team until the eighteenth
game of the season.

They don't play a road game against the Western Conference

You mentioned last year the NBA Finals, the highest rated
NBA Finals since nineteen ninety eight, and last I checked,
Lebron has played in ten since then. So it's not
that the highest rated regular season game last season was
thunder Spurs, not involving the Lackers or Lebron James. And
just in terms of on court success, Lebron has been
(07:24):
one and done in the playoffs three of the last
six years. He's missed the playoffs entirely one time. He's
been swept twice, and that's with playing alongside Hall of
famers in Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic. So it's not
like he's dominating when he's on the court or his
teams are dominating when he's on the court. He's still
a very good player. But there's nothing special any longer
(07:45):
about Lebron James. And you mentioned that you don't think
that the impact he's had on the league recently especially
has been positive. I will say for our purposes like
sports media, he's been a guy because every he's a
lightning rod. People love to hate him one way or
the other. So it's great if we can do a
(08:05):
Lebron James topic and it makes sense, We're probably gonna
do it on FS one or Fox Sports Radio, whatever
your outlet is. But if I'm just talking in the
business of basketball and the NBA, I could argue pretty
easily everything about the Lebron James era of the NBA.
(08:25):
His entire legacy outside of him individually and his own
success has been negative. Okay, here's why. Number one, this
is no order player empowerment. There is not a single
fan who likes player empowerment because what happens is you
ultimately have situations like these sixers where you have all
(08:47):
the stars trying to join up on one team, Kevin
Durant jumping to a seventy three win Warriors team, right,
James Harden putting on a fat suo for six weeks
so we can get himself traded somewhere else, right, Like
it flies in the face of competition. Everything that we
love about sports is your best, my best. We're going dad,
and see what happens. Now it's your best and his best.
We're all gonna come together, and then we can make
(09:08):
a better team, and then we're just gonna un a
rough shot over everybody else. That's number one. Number two.
He made it seem like uncool to try at the
All Star Game, Like before Lebron James became the face
of the league, when it was still you know, Kobe,
and then before that Shack and Jordan Magic, like going backwards,
(09:29):
they would try hard for maybe fifty percent of the game,
like maybe right in the beginning of definitely right at
the end. Once Lebron became the unquestioned face of the league,
everybody's like, well, I don't want to embarrass myself. The
last thing I want is for Tracy McGrady throw off
the backboard and dunk on me, Like I don't want
that to happen.

So because Lebron was embarrassed by Kobe.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Yeah, so yeah, exactly exactly.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
So that's what left to the beginning.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
So I would rather not even try than risk getting embarrassed.
So here's another one. This is a smaller one, but
back in the day, in the early two thousand, even
in the late nineties, flopping was something that was reserved
for European players, Roddie Devac, you know, Monogenobili to a

very very lesser extent, like Tony Cooper, like they were
seen as they weren't as athletic, they weren't as big
and strong and fast as the American players. So that
was their way of gaming the system. Once Lebron James
made it cool for an American star, not just an
American star, the best player in the league to be like,
all right, I will fling my head back and sell
(10:33):
this call. I will take a dive. I'll act like
I hit in the eye and then cover my eye.
Then look for the camera real quick, like you saw
that video.

It's so good.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Like then it became all right, well, Chris Paul's gonna
do it, James Harden's gonna do it, And now everybody
does it, and now it's part of the game. Now
it's like soccer in the NBA. So if I'm the
NBA at large, Adam Silver and the schedule makers and
all these guys, I'm like, why am I first and
foremost Kyle towing to a guy who hasn't really been
that impact recently relatively to the big picture, Like he's
(11:03):
not winning championships anymore, he's not at the top of
the standings anymore like he used to be back in
the day. Number one and number two? Why do I
continue to bend over backwards to a man whose long
term legacy is just as negative as it is positive
in the eyes of basketball fans.

In everything you just said, I don't know if this.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Was your message to get across, because Lebron changed the
competitive nature of the NBA from top to bottom, and
that is what sucks the most about this, the player empowerment.
It's like there's a few games throughout the regular season
that maybe the players will compete at their highest But

that's why the NBA implemented the in season tournament to
try and get some competitive games, because everybody was just
waiting for the end of the season to get on
a run and get into the postseason, and once they
got into the season and their seat is locked, they
don't even care anymore. Like that all changed with Lebron James,
It really did.

And so here we are.

I agree for us on the on the side of media,
Lebron has given us, giving us reasons to talk every
single day, and it's awesome. But when it comes to
the sport itself, fans who don't care about sports media,
I feel like they tune in and hear Lebron James
take and they just tune out.

They're so over it.

It's it's and so it's it's exhausting, even though you
were talking about it, but there's a lot of fans
who find it find it exhausting.

Situation for me is at least say you're retiring, at
least will at least because now the favoritism is showing
how you just got to the seventy six ers and wow,
that's a nice start to the season, What a nice
little way to get in a groove for Philadelphia, which
is what any team would want exactly. So the favoritism
is very clear, But why it makes no sense as

you pointed out the last ten years, the high rated
games of not included Lebron James. He hasn't made it
far enough, he hasn't been in the playoffs. So long
enough he gets in and then he gets out quickly.
And I don't know what it is, but if he
would just announce that he's retiring, I would I would
not be as annoyed.

By Yah, then a lot of this would make sense.
It would be like, Okay, it's his last go round.
We don't know, you know, if they're gonna be good
or if not. We think they're gonna be good, but
just in case, we're gonna give them every opportunity to
be good, to be good so we can have the

you think you would lean into that a little bit

So you mentioned you you're Chargers, right, it's a big

talking point. Preseason. Football's underway. We got games coming on tonight.
We saw some yesterday and there's one player in particular
that I wanted to discuss. I'm not talking about Fernando
Mendozo Shock, who you dumped on I didn't know using
to go to the strip in Vegas because he wanted
to get it. You know, check tape and get into
his playbook. You think that's a problem. Now I'm talking
(22:42):
about another number one overall draft pick, cam Ward. Cam
Ward went five of twelve passing for fifty seven yards
and through what would have been an interception but it
was dropped. And those numbers don't even tell the story
because he missed a lot of wide open players, a
lot of layers that should have been there, and he
(23:03):
just was missing them. Not like he wasn't seeing, he
was just missing. And when I watch cam Ward play again,
it is the preseason. It's week one. But my mantra
about the preason has always been this, I don't care
if you play well in the preseason, right, Vanadamnosa looked
pretty good, Drew Aller looked awesome, he did cam Carson
Beck looked really good. Yeah, and it's like cool, but
(23:24):
it's just preseason. What I do care about is if
you look bad in the preseason. Because this is vanilla defenses,
vanilla offenses, you're supposed to look good. It's structured in
such a way so that everything is easy and you're
just getting back in the flow of things, so you're
supposed to look like a good NFL player. And cam
(23:45):
Ward did not, and this continues a trend that's been
going on for about a year now. Last season, cam
Ward and the Titans offense was in the bottom in
the NFL in most passing metrics, thirty first in EPA,
thirty first in passing suces. That's right. He had a
fifty six point four PFF passing grade and more turnover
worthy plays than Big Time throws thirty second pass yard
(24:07):
per game twenty eighth and QBR thirty for his pass rating.
First in sacks taken. I don't know if he's gonna
be first in that category, right hurt So in conclusion,
the whole thing was a disaster, And yet I hear
more commentary more slander directed at Chadeur Sanders than cam
Woard cam Ward last I check, was taken first overall,
(24:30):
and yet he can perform poorly, and he can look
like he doesn't belong in the NFL for stretches of
the game, and he can look like he should be
holding a clipboard stead holding a football, and nobody says
anything about it. Shador Sanders was taken what in the
sixth round, fifth round, something like that, something like that,
and if he has a bad practice, we know about
about it. Why on earth is cam Ward avoiding the
(24:54):
slander that Shaduur is getting showered with on a day
to day basis.
Speaker 5 (24:59):
I don't have a great answer for you. Let's see
if we can get you an answer. Okay, well, let's
start with this. The Titans are not good.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
Neither are the Browns.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
Neither. But the Browns have a good defense. They that's
what they're that's what they lean into. That's what they
lean into. Even that division.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
It's like, you play the Browns, you know they're gonna
play tough defense on you. They may not put any
points and that's how you win, right, But they have
a good defense and they lean on that. The Titans
are not good. Their O line is not good. It
was one of the worst ones last season. I don't
think they've improved it a lot. With cam Ward, he
gets the grace because he's a number one pick. I
know that doesn't make sense, but he gets the grace

because his team was so bad.

Now you have a new head coach.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
You have a new system to learn, you have new
weapons that you're gonna throw to I hear what you're
saying that you want him to look good because you
are now entering your second year, and this is against
vanilla defenses, as you said, but it was only the
first one. I think Tennessee does have to make sure
that they know whether cam Ward is their future. I
(26:05):
just don't think I'm putting it on this preseason game.
I'm not judging it based on that. Now come week
three of the regular season and he still looks like
he's sped up, like uncomfortable in the pocket like he
did yesterday, then I guess you can have that conversation.
You're right, it's not fair that Shador Sanders literally whatever
happens to him at practice, we hear about it. But
(26:26):
Shador Sanders came into the league with a lot of
talks surrounding him in not the best way. It was
already a part of it. So I think that's hard
to shake off. And the only way that Shador Sanders
is gonna shake some of that off is by winning,
is by being good.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
Now, cam Woard.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
Because he's a number one overall pick, I do think
he gets that grace. And because the Titans are just
they're not good. So it's like here, Robert Slay, maybe
this whole thing in Week one of the preseason, was
trying a bunch of weird stuff that they didn't but
they're not really gonna do because he seemed uncomfortable. I
hear what you're saying, Like the stat line is terrible,
but if you watched it, it's like it looks even
(27:03):
worse then the stat line shows he looked uncomfortable, not
like a number one overall pick going in a second year.

That's not what you would want to see, especially as
you mentioned the other new quarterbacks how they look exactly.
So it's like, but I'm not worried. I'm not worried
just yet.

Okay, So you say the one of the reasons why
he's avoiding criticism is because the Titans are not good,
which is totally fair. Would you also agree then that
one of the reasons he's avoiding it is that the
Titans are boring and nobody cares about them.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
Yes, I think that is a fair assessment. That adds
to it, like they're not even if the Titans have a.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
Good season, what is a good season for Tennessee, Like
nine wins? I don't know. I say six wins is
a good season for Tennessee.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Like even if they have a good season, no one
is looking looking at them like true contenders or like
that they're going to be one of those teams that
goes from worst to best.
Speaker 5 (27:58):
Nobody is looking at them like that.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
With Cleveland again, Cleveland at least has always leaned into
this identity of being a tough team to get through
because of their defense.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
But you're right, that's one thing that you know the
Browns have going for them, right, is that Cleveland the
Jets my Raiders. Recently, they've been so bad they've become
a punching like a punching bag, yea. So it's easy
to always point out how bad they are. Whereas if
you're the Tennessee it Titian's were a pretty decent team,
(28:29):
you know, several years ago and even when they were
Mike Rabel at their their heyday, they were the one seed,
i think in the playoffs, and nobody picked them to
make the super Bowl. So it's not even just that
they aren't good, it's that nobody has.
Speaker 5 (28:43):
Ever really taken them.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Yeah. Yeah, And so maybe that's good for cam Ward
that he can be terrible and no one is going
to say anything about it for now.

You can't just because you are the number one over.

I'll pick this pressure at some point or the view
on cam Ward or does have to shift. We can't
just Tennessee cannot just treat him with kid gloves, you know,
because their team isn't good. At some point a decision
does have to be made whether he is the future
of Tennessee, if he is this franchise quarterback. But I'm
just I don't think they're there yet. I don't think

they need.

To get that serious yet.

But again, let's see how he looks week three, week four,
once they get a little bit of a rhythm, and
then and then maybe maybe there's a tougher discussion to

are you if here Will Levis right now? Because Will
Levis when he got drafted, it was a big thing.
He fell in the draft and everyone fell in love
with his girlfriend, right They're like, oh my gosh, he's beautiful,
and he's the starting quarterback there for a few games.
He gets hurt, his girlfriend leaves him. Yeah, cam Ward
comes in, and cam Ward has him a good either,

but he's still wallowing away there on the bench.

Will Levis in his short amount of time. If I'm
Will Levis, I'm mad. But in the sh short amount
of time that we saw Will Lovis, I can't trust
that man with the phone.

a major corporation, with the money, with the salary, and
it's like, well, once all that came in, they're like, well,
we don't want to change this other stuff either. Well
you kind of have to like that comes with that's

be a billion dollar corporation, you're gonna have to sacrifice
and change some of the things you did before, and

they are just unable or just unwilling to do it.

not one thing, it's every day. There's something where you're
just like, why, why can't you be better?
