of course, he's a college football analyst for Fox.

He's going to join us.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
I've got trash talking. Your chance to trash anyone, anything
in the world of sports. We will not... N-O-T interrupt you.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Unless you disagree with me. To get to.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Real quick, one more thing before we move on to
our next topic.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
What you got?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
We're just talking about Star Trek and favorite episodes of
all time. Today is the 60th anniversary when that show
debuted on NBC. And it only lasted three years, the
original run, but of course it's lived on forever.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Which is always so interesting. What's your favorite? You got
a favorite episode?
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Ooh, no.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
I know the most impactful. Mine is that one. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Break it down for the people that don't know. And
if you should check it out, it's the first time
when Captain Kirk kissed Lieutenant Uhura on television was the
first time a white actor had kissed a black actor
on television. stations in the Deep South refused to show
(02:27):
the episode.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Like, this is NBC. Oh, no, we're preempting. We will
not show that episode. Probably some cities who still ain't
showing it.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
And you're talking about, like, that show was on, like,
1966 or something like that. Like, it was a big
deal in this country, that show. And then just think
about the cast. People today are pushing back on DEI.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Look at the cast.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Russian guy, Asian guy, Irish guy, black woman, alien, white
guy from the heartland. They were way ahead.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Like, why? Like, they could have easily said. They were
light years ahead. They were light years away. But you
get me, right?
Speaker 1 (03:13):
They could have just said, put four white guys on
there and do the show and the Star Trek or whatever.
It's incredible. I give it a lot of credit. If
you watch that show, some of those episodes are so good.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
They really are. Which of them?
Speaker 5 (03:25):
I always laugh at the idea. It's just strange how
it didn't last long. Then all the fans went crazy,
got it back on the air. And then it's had
about a million other versions of it. And they've all
done well. Like those next generation, those things went on
for 10 years.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
And now there's still the movies. The movies still come
on too. Crazy. It's crazy.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
60 years ago, first time black and white person kissed
on TV, whatever. And it's crazy. 1989 was the first
time they allowed black folks to be at the Masters.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
Racist.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Unbelievable. Did you hear what I just said to you?
Speaker 6 (03:52):
89?
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Crazy. Crazy. That's insane. That's insane.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
Tiger Woods, had he been 10 years younger or older,
I should say, would have never been able to play, Alex.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Boy, I tell you. Take that for data. I think
the all-timer, though, was... Take that for data. I wish I.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
I'll have to look it up. I want to get
it right. But the black golfer who was winning the
Canadian Open.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
We talked about this. And if you win the.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Canadian Open, you automatically... Get an invitation to the Masters.
17th hole, he's winning.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
They send a wire up there and say, this year
will be, it's not an automatic bid to the Masters.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Just because it was a black golfer winning. Can you, like,
during the match. Crazy. That's the kind of stuff. Was
that 200 years ago? No. Oh, okay. That's the sad part.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I'm going to get you the information on that, the golfer.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
All right. Rob G.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Dabo Sweeney, my favorite college football coach. Wait, I thought
it was Lane. Not Dabo Sweeney.
Speaker 7 (04:57):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
What to say?
Speaker 8 (04:59):
Well, Dabo Sweeney faced off against your favorite football coach,
Lane Kiffin.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
You got his ass kicked. You got the door bricked off.
I loved every minute of it. I loved every minute
of it. Oh, my gosh. What was it?
Speaker 8 (05:10):
51 to 10, and it wasn't even that close. It
could have been much worse. Lane could have put up
70 if he wanted to. He decided to pull the
dogs back. And, of course, Dabo Sweeney had to meet
with the media after the loss, and One reporter asked
him if he has any regrets after going against a
team like that. That's a lot of mercenaries, a lot
of transfers, things of that nature. Do you regret the
way you built your team, seeing how far away you are?
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Take a listen.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Do you regret anything about your off-season roster construction right now?
Speaker 9 (05:37):
Chapel, you come with all these questions.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
No, those are good questions. No, I don't. I don't, man.
Speaker 9 (05:44):
I regret being 0-1-1 right now. I regret that. But, no, we're...
Can you ask me that at the end of the season?
You know, the season ain't over. I mean, we got
one game. We got 11 more.
Speaker 6 (05:57):
No, no, no.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
The season's over. I hate to break it to you.
The season is over.
Speaker 9 (06:00):
You promise me you'll ask me that then?
Speaker 7 (06:01):
Okay, good.
Speaker 6 (06:02):
I'll answer it.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
You know what kills me, Kelvin? What? What kills me?
That's a great question.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
And you know what I used to ask Rob Marinelli
all the time after the Lions when they went on
16 that year?
Speaker 2 (06:15):
I would ask him. Are you going to resign tonight
or tomorrow? All right. So he's another one of you
ever catch you in an elevator, y'all, too? Yes. Man, listen.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
Dabo Sweeney is officially Dabo Swindlin' for me.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
He's Swindlin' Clemson at this point, Rob. He's living in
the past.
Speaker 5 (06:33):
We talk about this with some guys like, you know,
we even say Patrick Mahomes has to be better. Sometimes
we think of him as the old Patrick Mahomes. or
some other players or some other coaches who are kind
of hanging on to that. That's what Dabo is. Dabo
has not been great now for a handful of seasons.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
And it happens.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
By the way, born and raised in Ann Arbor, it
happens where programs that were good or really good or
great take dips. Miami was great for a while. Michigan
was great for a while. They took a dip until
they popped back up and looked like they might take
a dip again. And my point is, Clemson is in
that dip, and a part of it is because Dabo
won't adjust, adapt. We've talked about this. Listen, I have
(07:12):
no problem if he said, hey, man, I'm being honest
with you. Thanks for the question about, you know, let's
say it was NIL. You know, I just feel a
little differently, blah, blah. Or let's say it was about
the transfer. You can't not want to do anything, Rob.
You can't dislike every single thing about this particular club
and want to get in. You can't tell me, I
don't like the clubs, hours, I don't like the cost
to get in, I don't like the girls in this club,
(07:32):
I don't like the VIP section, I don't like the
price of drinks, and then tell me you want to
be in my club. And that is college football where
it is right now. It's just in this place where
there's so many changes. And I get it if he
didn't like one. I get it if he didn't like
a couple. But you can't not want to do everything, Rob,
and then get mad at a question. That was a
fair question and a good question about the idea of
you not wanting to adjust his roster, not wanting to
(07:54):
bring guys in.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
How do you feel about it?
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Because dang it, Dabo, 644.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yards is what LSU ran up on you. You know
what I mean?
Speaker 5 (08:04):
You had, Dabo, a buck 45, and some of those
were gifted to you. First downs, Rob, this is absolutely crazy.
What do you think the first downs disparity was? LSU,
how many do you think they had?
Speaker 1 (08:15):
LSU had 24 to 8.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
38-8, Rob. Well, I had the eight right. You got
the eight right. Third down conversions for you, Dabo. One
of 13.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
So, Rob, here's Dabo swindling Clemson right now, swindling Clemson fans,
swindling the university, because at the end of the day,
you either have to kick rocks or you have to adjust.
You can't have them in limbo. Dabo has them in
limbo where they're, well, we're going to do it my
way or the highway. This is how I like to
do it. Don't ask me questions about this. We're not
(08:49):
going to recruit NIL and transfer guys. We're not going
to want, I don't even like NIL. We're not going
to bring older guys back. We're not going to do this.
I don't want to bring in this offensive coordinator because
he's let offensive coordinators go, Rob, who if they don't
adjust to his way as opposed to bringing in, hey,
I got a style that can have our offense explosive.
So Dabo, I don't know, is living in the Bear
(09:09):
Bryant era where it's my way or the highway and
all of that, and therefore Clemson's going to mess around
and be 4-9 or something on the season. So I
think it's time for him to move on.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
If you're Clemson, you have to move. I know he
gets a bunch of money. I'm fully aware of that.
Speaker 5 (09:22):
But my point is this is going to be your
future for the next few years if you're going to
be under Dabo if he won't adjust. Adjust or die. Seriously,
adapt or die, adjust or die, and quit swindling, Dabo Swinney.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Dabo should just pick up the phone and call Tom
Izzo and say, how's that worked out for you?
Speaker 2 (09:39):
But at least Izzo can win you.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
You can go 23-7 because that can work in a
regular season.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
No, but the problem is, and you know this, back
when he won that championship in 2000, you would have never.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Believed that he wouldn't win another one. You know what
I mean?
Speaker 1 (09:57):
And I'm trying to say is, you can win a
lot of games and do that, whatever, but you're not
going to win any national championships.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
No, I agree.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
And at some point you have to adjust. We talk
about it all the time. Coach K wasn't with all
that one and done.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Guess what?
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Bobby Knight was a great coach until he stopped getting
the Isaiah Thomases of the world and guys like that.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
What happened to Bobby Knight as a coach? He stopped winning.
And he was just throwing chairs and strangling kids. Exactly.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
You can't win, and that's all I'm saying is you
have to adapt. It ain't about you and what you
want to do.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
It is to him. That's the problem. But it's not.
Whenever you do that, you're in trouble.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
It would be like somebody, you know, doing a radio
show the way they want to do it rather than
what the listeners want to hear, right? Not having topics,
just taking the phone calls the entire four hours.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Do you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Hmm.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Nobody wants that. Bob G, I'm being honest. You can't.
You got to understand what you're doing here.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
And I'm just saying, you can't live doing that and
expect to stick around.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
Right.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
You're not going to stick around. Pride before the fall.
You know what I mean? And he's being too proud.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
And again, I don't have a problem with if, you know,
if he was having an honest sit down with all
the reporters and let's say they ask him about transfers.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
He's like, I'll be honest.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
You know, the way I like to do things typically,
I like to get guys in, bring them in. They're
young in our system, develop them. And by the time
they're junior year, they're ready to explode and do great things.
I'll be I'm OK with that. Listen, everybody, nobody has
to like everything. Nobody has to like how everything is adjusting.
You know, maybe you don't like the way social media
is developing or the way AI is taking over. Like,
you don't have to agree with every single facet of
(11:39):
life in the way your particular industry, in his case,
college football.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
I'm completely okay with that.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
But you can't also sit there and see where it's
going in multiple facets, whether, again, it's NIL. it's transfers
it's the idea of bringing pro players back it's the
idea of becoming more offensively inclined and do all these
other things and he's just like nope nope nope nope
nope nope and then expect to be good because now
again you're taken away from your university from your fans
(12:06):
and ultimately your players too by the way because now
they look bad and they're suffering because they're used to
having a really good stretch of run that they had
with Clemson when they had it for that you know
good Eight to ten years. Now they're down bad to
the point of, again, getting smacked up by Lane Kiffin,
who was going crazy in that halftime.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Rob G., he couldn't. He was like, how many F words?
What's the count? He was like, sir, you're at 32.
I loved that. He was like, let me get to 50.
I loved it. It was very, very nice. I got
to do this for, like, the whole college football season
with you and Lane?
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
I'm all in on Lane. If I could drink his
bath water, done. All right.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Done.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Alex, you got that. Is it too little?
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Too late in the world of college football. We'll get
to that next with you. It is The Odd Couple
on a Trash Talking Tuesday, Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington, where
we deliver insight, not noise, where we value your opinion,
and we deliver a quality radio show five nights a
(13:04):
week right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
And you know what you need to do. Stick and stay.
Speaker 5 (13:12):
Especially if you got some extra bath water for Ron
Parker in the US of A.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
If I could drink his bath water.
Speaker 6 (13:18):
Oh, God.

Fox sports radio odd couple on a trash talking tuesday
about 20 25 minutes away from that see what you
guys got cooked up Devin Gardner, former University of Michigan quarterback,
college football on Fox Analyst, going to join us here
in about seven minutes or so. If you work in logistics,
you know nothing moves without you. Companies and, of course,
(14:23):
they need skilled people. And now Express Employment professionals can
help you find contract or full-time work that fits at
no cost. Visit ExpressPros.com, get support, get options, and get
to work. All right, Rob G.? Michigan over the weekend, obviously,
was just a huge, controversial call to give them an
extra second. A lot of people, including Western Michigan and
(14:45):
Western Michigan fans, and really a lot of folks think
they really won that game.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Even Rob Parker.
Speaker 8 (14:49):
I saw multiple videos of him on the Dan Patrick
Show and the Odd Couple. I've always been a Western
Michigan guy.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
You know that.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
And for them to get hosed like that was ridiculous.
They got hosed big time. They really did. They really did.
Why are you taking out on instant replay like that?
I heard you went in on them. He did. The
entire structure of instant replay. Everything. I want it abolished.
He wants it abolished.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Instant replay.
Speaker 8 (15:11):
So today, the MAAC, which is where Western Michigan plays,
has officially appealed the outcome of the game. And they
are looking to have the game switched either to a
no contest or to a outright Western Michigan win because
they believe it'll help them long-term for, number one, it's evaluation.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Number two, it's liberation.
Speaker 8 (15:33):
More likely than not, a potential college football playoff berth.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
You know what? Too little, too late. I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Like, their first... response was, oh, okay, they explained it
to us. Okay, we'll just accept it. We'll take our million-dollar,
million-and-a-half-dollar check and leave Ann Arbor and we're good.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
You know what I mean? Like, really.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
They should have been screaming bloody murder from point one.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Like, literally point one from the very beginning.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Because transparency is the most important thing. That's why we
talk about it all the time. If people don't believe
what they're watching is real, sports-wise, it takes.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Away from them. Only real reality TV.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Right.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
You become the WWE, like you do. Don't start that again.
I know people don't want.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
I still get random mentions from that one conversation we had.
But people don't want.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
To hear that. But you get my point. And my
thing is.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Kelvin, I've been watching football since I was a kid.
I've never seen this other clock ever.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Have you? You grew up in Ann Arbor. I never,
another clock? What other clock? I just, what?
Speaker 1 (16:44):
And then for them to have that response, and then
I think the national pushback and 98% of the people
on Western Michigan side, right?
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Am I right with that? You know where I'm from.
And I'm on Western Michigan side in that case.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Right?
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Like, that was, dude, the game was over. The game
was over.
Speaker 5 (17:04):
You know, let me tell you my quick story of
how that happened. So I get a text. Shout out
to my homegirl Erica texting me. Shout out to my
boy Vern, who's a big fan of this show. He
texted me.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
And it was WTFs and wows. Oh, my gosh. Wait,
did you go to Eastern or Western Michigan? Like, I
got a few.
Speaker 6 (17:19):
I'm like, what?
Speaker 2 (17:19):
I'm like, with my daughter. What's going on? Something happened.
So I look at it. The apps said... 12-7 final.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
12-7 final.
Speaker 5 (17:28):
And I'm like, oh, snap. How did we lose? Going
back and forth. And I literally put the phone down,
get the girls in, get dinner settled. And then I
started to see the opposite text.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
I ain't going to lie. I guess we paid off
some rest. Ha-ha. And I'm like, well, why would we
pay for a loss?
Speaker 6 (17:42):
I'm like, what?
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Why'd they lose? And they're like, wait, wait, wait.
Speaker 7 (17:44):
What?
Speaker 1 (17:44):
What?
Speaker 5 (17:45):
They're like, well, technically, they gave a second. So then
they throw it back. And I'm like, what is going on?
I said all that to say. I think what happened
with Western Michigan, Rob, is that they got caught up in,
first of all, you know, you know this, you spent
20 plus years in Michigan. smaller school, directional school, regional
school there. And I think they were just flabbergasted with, like,
how do we handle this? I don't think they were
(18:06):
prepared for such a massive controversy like this. I think
they kind of went in there expecting, hey, maybe the
team wouldn't say this, but the university as a whole,
go in there, get our head bust, but, hey, dang it,
at least try and fight hard. We'll get our million
dollars and move on. You know, they do that every year.
You know, Michigan will play some small school. Right, they
give them a big payday. Give them a big payday.
Speaker 8 (18:23):
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Come on, be our whipping boy. Come on. Here's the thing, though.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
I think also they were trying to show sportsmanship to
their players and the fans. Like, everything isn't always going
to go your way, and sometimes life is going to
screw you over, but you've got to fight back and
just accept it and move on. And I think also
they were trying to assess what happened in real time.
So I'll give them a pass. I just think they
didn't know how to handle this. Like, we don't want
to look like poor sportsmanship sometimes. But dang it, it
(18:48):
looked like we won the game, but we're trying to
show how to get it, how to be good sportsmen.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Everything doesn't go your way. So I think that's what
they got caught up in.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
And the reason why I'm okay with them pushing back
now and fighting back now is because you know this.
This stuff matters. Now with college football playoff being expanded–
If they win the MAAC, they go now 11-1. What
if it becomes 12-0 because they win some case or something?
Or just this could matter for them. But what if
they lose one more game and it's now 10-2, but
it could have been 11-1 that would have put us
(19:16):
in a college football playoff? So I think this matters.
You know it matters for coaches. If on my record
I beat Michigan in the big.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
House, that's, you know.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
I get that, but my point is the original– it
should have been– The coach was way too.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
But you feel me? I think they're trying to, like, well, guys,
sometimes life is going to throw you a tough one.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Not like that. It would be different if you lost.
If you lost and they threw a Hail Mary the
first time. okay the first time and they and but
to give them another play when everybody like you know
this is NBC's broadcasting the game final final this is
not how many times have you seen that all over
(19:57):
the apps and I'm like but I'm saying you watch
a game where they say it was a final the
game is.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Over and they say oh it's my bad hold on
wait oh wait.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
A minute we got to check the other clock and
I'm like What other clock?
Speaker 2 (20:09):
By the way, Rob G. Do you remember the other clock?
Do you remember the other clock? So that happens a
lot of times. I've never seen it.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
In NBA, you'll see it where, like, well, the in-arena
clock is a hair off of the one that's broadcasting.
But that's supposed to be fractional, not a second.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Rob G., you've watched football forever. You've watched football forever.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
Kelvin, how many times does the referee go, put on
the clock, right in the NFL game, 12.3 seconds or
whatever it is. Just to make sure that the clock
is synced up to what his time is the official time.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
I'm with you on that. They've done it.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Because the people in the building should know how much
time is left.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Including players. It ain't fair. That's my point. And I've
seen it. It's not fair.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
I've seen the replay. You've seen it a million times.
I still don't get how it was the second at it.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
I don't either. I genuinely don't.
Speaker 8 (21:02):
I know now after they've ran it frame by frame
like an NBA game where it goes out of bounds
off a guy's finger.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
And you see what happened. But it still wasn't a
second up. There was still.
Speaker 8 (21:10):
Time for them to get a snap off.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
But not a second.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
And that's what I love about the NBA is they
even determine in those games You got to have 4.4.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
To get a shot up. And the other way is
just to tap in. Otherwise, there's no basket. So you
have a baseline. Am I right? So there's something that
we all know.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
If it's. 3, it's got to be a hurl at
the basket, and you got to tip it in.
Speaker 8 (21:37):
So in this specific instance, the way they got the
extra second was because they determined that the defender was
already stepped out of bounds when he touched it. So
they gave him, because they don't do half seconds in footballs.
They give him a full second. What I like that
they do now in the NBA, or they did at
least last year, we'll see if they keep moving forward,
is through the first 47 minutes of the game, if
you're holding the ball and I knock it out of
your hands, they're going to say, out on me. But
(21:58):
if you run it frame by frame, if I knock
the ball, it runs up your fingers, and Kelvin is
always going to be the last person who touched it.
And then this last season, like, you know what? That's
not the way instant replay was intended to be used.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Thank you. So we're not going to do that anymore.
You know what?
Speaker 1 (22:13):
I wish they would do that in baseball with the steal.
The guy steals a base, right? He beats the ball
and the tag. Kelvin, the infielder, holds the tag on
the runner, right, the whole time. And then you see
on the replay, they slow it down, and his foot
comes up off the bag as he.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
One milli... Inch. You know, inch.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Like, just barely... up during the whole process. That's not
what instant replay, if we slow it down enough, if
you watch it, he's in. He beat the throw and
the tag and he didn't slide off.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
His finger hands, one little millimeter.
Speaker 10 (22:53):
Right.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
He didn't slide off the bag. That's different.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
They look at that and they call a guy out.
That's not what instant replay should be for.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at FoxSportsRadio.com. And
within the iHeartRadio app, search FSR to listen live.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
So just to clarify again, it wouldn't make any sense.
You're saying what we see, whoever's airing a game, NBC, ABC,
Pick a Sea, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
That... Is what needs to be the default when you're
making a decision. The program feed. Not correct.
Speaker 5 (23:25):
Program, because that's going out to millions, potentially, not the 50, 60, 100,000.
And theoretically, the scoreboard as well. Yeah, but the scoreboard
should be synced with that, not whatever a play clock
may have.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
In the arena.
Speaker 11 (23:36):
Yeah, so during the game, the time on the scoreboard
is the official time, and then if time needs to
be restored, it's the program feed, TV feed, that needs
to be followed.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
100%.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
I don't even know how it could have been anything other.
When they said that, I swear to you, I had
never heard of another clock.
Speaker 11 (23:55):
There isn't another clock. It's just like their own private
unsynced feed. So this is a memo tonight that The
Athletic got straight from the NCAA Secretary Rules editor. Like
to reemphasize, sending it out to everyone this week, this
is the protocol.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
We have rules. Follow them.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
And the referees who were involved in this debacle, they
should be suspended.
Speaker 11 (24:18):
Those would be conference employees, not Michigan employees.
Speaker 6 (24:23):
Right, right.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
They didn't know what they were doing. They didn't follow protocol.
And I'm not saying fired.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
They did know. I didn't say fired, but they could
be suspended for one game. Yes.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
And the appeal is going to be interesting, too, because
I'd have to check to see.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
They're never going to. Exactly. It's never happened.
Speaker 5 (24:39):
It hurts you if we got it wrong. If to
say that we got it wrong. They could say that
they got it wrong, but they'll never change the winner.
Speaker 11 (24:47):
I noticed that the MAAC conference didn't just appeal to
the NCAA. The appeal to the college football playoffs saying,
can you take this into consideration when you think about
our season later?
Speaker 5 (24:58):
Because if they're as good, I mean, I don't think
Michigan's going to be great, but they were ranked, and
if they're that.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
Good— For them to win Western, like, it doesn't matter
how good Michigan is.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Go to the big house.
Speaker 6 (25:07):
And win Michigan.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
No, no, no. What I'm saying is, but it might
show how good, to your point, how good they might go.
They could have potentially gone undefeated, and that's huge for
them for a school like the Mac to try to
get into the college football player.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Maybe they get smacked up by some other big school,
but it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
If you're the— people looking into putting teams in you
got to take that in consideration they went to the
big house this was yeah and and and be the
rank michigan team yes i'm sorry that's a big win.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
Without a doubt all right steve thank you it is
the odd couple on a trash talking tuesday which by
the way you want to jump in 877 99 on
fox what do you think how many i know it's
you know a few days later now but how many
people trash michigan either michigan or the the ruling the referees.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
I'm sure people are going to be trashing the referees
and the people who were involved.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Nobody, I told you, I'm from Ann Arbor.
Speaker 5 (25:59):
Nobody texts everybody else from home or went to Michigan,
even if they're from other states. The alum, no one
is like, woo, yeah, ha-ha. Everybody's like, yeah, man, I
actually feel bad for Weston.
Speaker 6 (26:10):
Right.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
Like, fans of the alumni are like, nah, man, Weston
got that, man.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
If you like sports at all, it's an ultimate underdog story.
Speaker 12 (26:19):
100%.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
They beat them legitimately. In their house.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
And then to have it taken away because they're going
to some other clock. And we're all sitting there going, what?
Speaker 8 (26:26):
What?
Speaker 2 (26:28):
That... What? Like, I was dumbfounded.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
Dude, everybody took off headsets, ran on the field, coaches
were done.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
And that's why I'm against instant replay. You know why?
Because they take away moments now. Now you get... Like,
that was a... A magical.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
Appalachian State type of moment. I know they're not that small,
but you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (26:47):
You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Like, it's a moment that was taken away from them,
and they'll never be able to really relive it or
feel good about what they were able to do. And
I think... That's what I'm.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
Okay with human error. You know, once in a while
it happens. I like a little human error. No, I
don't like a little human scamming.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Rob G., you're a human error. Sometimes you make a
mistake here on the rundown. I put on the rundown.
I put Shop Talk instead of Sheckle City. Exactly. And
both of y'all read it verbatim. Nobody caught it. Well, listen,
I thought maybe it was already the 8.30 hour.
Speaker 8 (27:20):
What's interesting about this whole thing is Michigan ends up
winning the game off of a Hail Mary, which should
have been.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
I think they stormed the field. It was terrible. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (27:27):
The quarterback who threw the Hail Mary to win the
game is now in danger of being benched. That shows
you how bad it was there.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
It was bad. No, big fact. By the way, we'll
talk to maybe later about that.
Speaker 5 (27:37):
But I'm okay with him getting benched because– I said
it last year.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
They were 27 and a half point favorites. You can't
turn in a stinker like that. And it wasn't fluky stuff.
It wasn't pump returns or kick returns or you know
what I mean? Things where you're like, we dominate them
500 yards to 100, but they just happen to get
these fluky plays.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
He looked bad. The team looked bad, but he looked
bad last year. Number one recruit, quarterback in the entire country.
And everybody's kind of like, well, you know, he's just
a little this, give him some time, you know, he's just,
and I'm like, oh, Rob.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
And he's making $ 3 million a year, the NIL deal.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
And every time I watch him play, I mean it sincerely, Rob.
Every time I watch him play, I walk away, I go,
I don't like it.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
All right, let's get people ready, fired up for trash talking.
Let's do it. 877-99 on Fox. 877. Call in.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
99 on Fox. Your chance to trash anything.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Anybody. And we will shut up, which is hard for Rob,
for 30 seconds. Wow. 40 seconds. You know what? I'll
give you credit. You do do good on trash talking.
I'll give you that. On trash talking, I backed off.
Sometimes I want to go crazy, yeah. Regular calls.
Speaker 5 (28:43):
But I'll give you that on trash talking Tuesdays. It's
your boys, The Odd Couple, Fox Sports Radio.

It is time for Trash Talkin' Tuesday.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
Don't you ever talk about me!
Speaker 3 (29:50):
It's Trash Talkin' Tuesday. It's your teeth, Reggie.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
I don't know whether to smile at you or kick
a field goal, man.
Speaker 6 (29:59):
All right.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
Who we got? All right. Lighten up, boy. I think
they're going to be mad at Michigan and the refs.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
All right.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Here we go. MJ in New Orleans. Who you trashing, MJizzle?
What up?
Speaker 3 (30:17):
What up?
Speaker 10 (30:17):
I'm trashing MJizzle. Screaming A. Smith, a.k.a. the Justice of Speech.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
You don't want to make an enemy out of me.
Speaker 10 (30:27):
For going at the neck of Professor Robert, the godfather, Parker.
Screaming they should be ashamed. For jumping all over the
elder statesman and writer and ripper, Rob Parker. Man, what's
going on? Doesn't he know he's a younger guy trying
to jump on the elder statesman? Not feeling it. I've
(30:50):
had some trashing with Stephen A. before, who I call
Screaming A. Not feeling it. I told you guys I
wasn't feeling him, and here's the opportunity that he shows. Oh,
that he'll go off at any particular time, man. You
guys have a great show. I'm going to give a
double down, thumbs down for you guys, Screaming A, man.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
All right, there we go. You want to make an
enemy of me and Jay. Where do they get a
load of me? And I'm going to say it again.
Jay in Georgia. Who you trashin', Jay?
Speaker 7 (31:24):
What's going on, fellas?
Speaker 2 (31:25):
I am livid.
Speaker 7 (31:26):
I am livid. I want to trash the Mac, and
I want to trash Winston Michigan's head coach for not
going hard for his player. Hey, man, dude, do you
know this is like, would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for
your players to go into the house and beat Michigan?
Speaker 5 (31:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (31:45):
And you all in the press conference after the game, oh, well,
you know, the big team said, no, no, no. Go
harder for your players. You should have been in a
press conference constantly, acting a fool. You should have walked
your players out the field after the game, after they
tried to change the direction of the game. What are
you doing? But you know what it is? This guy
(32:05):
know Purdue always suck, Northwestern always suck, Minnesota always suck.
So you know those jobs are going.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
To come open.
Speaker 7 (32:12):
You know he probably want one of those jobs. So
he trying to be nice in the press conference like, no,
what are you doing? And then y'all want to appeal
it two days later? No, you should have been appealing
that right after the game. Like, what are y'all doing?
Go harder for your players. If I was a player,
I wouldn't want to play for him anymore because I
just busted my butt going toe-to-toe with the blue blood.
(32:33):
And then you can't even fight for me after the game.
I thought I was busting my butt for you for
50 minutes and one second. Are you kidding me? Get
that dude out of here and fouls all the players.
I will forfeit the rest of the season.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
And you don't know how I know.
Speaker 7 (32:47):
I'm so serious.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
You know how serious Jay is? I can tell Jay
out of breath. Yeah, Jay is great. Hey, Jay, great job,
my man. Great take. And another thing, let me tell you.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
There you go. You do not want to make an
enemy out of me. All right, Bruce in Seattle, you're
on the Odd Couple Fox Sports Radio. Who are you trashing, Bruce?
Speaker 6 (33:12):
Trashing Aaron Donald. I know it's tough, bro, signing a
big contract. Got to go to a private jet terminal,
walk on the plane, your bags are carried, sit on
the plane with your boys, play some cards, eat some
good food. Nah, I'm good, bro. I'm going to stay home.
I'm going to count my shekels, and then I'll catch
you boys at the stadium when you come back. Come on, man.
(33:33):
You were a mystery all offseason. Now you're joining the team,
and you want to stay home and not fly with
the team. I don't love it. Don't like it.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
So you know what?
Speaker 6 (33:42):
That's my trash right there.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
No doubt.
Speaker 6 (33:44):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Man, book it. Book it right there. Let me see
your phone. Rack him. Let me see your phone. I
did not send that. When did you text him, Rob?
You texted him.
Speaker 5 (33:53):
When did you text him? He was an MLB bro
or United Nations bro or something. Ah, that's Bruce.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Bro of the week. He was bro of the week.
Speaker 5 (34:00):
Asa.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
See, he was Bruce your who? No. Asa. My man. See, Alex? No,
I don't know Bruce. Asa, in Arkansas, you're on the
Odd Couple Fox Sports Radio. Who are you trashing, Asa? Asa?
Speaker 7 (34:11):
I'm trashing Colin Cowherd for absolutely regurgitating Rob's take on
Lane Kiffin, how he's his hero and everything.
Speaker 8 (34:18):
No!
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Rob said that a week ago.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
Ah!
Speaker 4 (34:22):
Ah!
Speaker 7 (34:23):
Like, dude, get original.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Come on, man.
Speaker 7 (34:26):
You know.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
I was thinking about Lane Kiffin. Love him. Love what
he's doing. He's my hero.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Ah!
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Are you serious? I didn't even hear that. I didn't either.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
I wish you would have not told me, because now
let me tell you, HRU, you're about to hit Elijah up.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
That's crazy. All right. What did he say? Yeah, I
missed that one. I'm going to go find it.
Speaker 7 (34:45):
Find it.
Speaker 6 (34:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
That he's a hero. All right, Ken in Stockton, California.
Who was near you today? You're on the Odd Couple
Fox Sports Radio. Who you trashing, Ken?
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Okay.
Speaker 12 (34:55):
How you doing, Rob?
Speaker 3 (34:56):
How you doing, Kevin?
Speaker 6 (34:59):
Okay.
Speaker 12 (35:00):
Listen, I cannot believe Rob Parker is the only soul
on radio that is disking Aaron Donald, a defensive future
hall of famer because he doesn't want to get on
a plane because he can play Tired of getting blocked
by two, three guys. So he came out of retirement.
He's earned it. He's a future Hall of Famer. And
(35:22):
another thing, Rob, you've been out so many times.
Speaker 10 (35:25):
This year, I thought you were retired.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
I can't take any time off when I'm getting the business.
I mean, you had a good summer, though. No, but
I had to take the time. Listen. I'm locked in.
Two things can be true, Rob. I'm locked in from now.
You had to take them. We agree.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
Until after the Super Bowl. That's six months. What do
you want from me? I can't take off for six months.
Why can't two things be true? You enjoyed yourself. You
were supposed to. You had no choice.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
We got one more, Rob G. No, is that it?
Shout out to everybody. Rob G. Well, no. You know,
I'm a little, the whole hero thing, really? I missed
that on him. You know what I mean, guys. You
ought to activate it, Rob. I'm pretty sure he didn't.
Use the exact phrasing.
Speaker 6 (36:10):
Why?
Speaker 2 (36:11):
It would be surprising. It would be a little bit different.
I don't know. Text Jason. Text Martin. Oh, good point.
He beat me with it. He one-upped me with that one. Oh, yeah.
Martin's one of his producers. Ooh, so maybe. Are you
trying to say Martin did it? Wow. Is that what
it was?
Speaker 6 (36:26):
Ah.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Ah.
Speaker 2 (36:26):
Do it, Alex. Do it, Alex.
Speaker 11 (36:36):
Ah, you know, this is the herd and I just
got to say something.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
I've been watching Lane Kiffin and you know what he
makes me? I'm so inspired. I feel the wind beneath
my wings. Feel it. Lane Kiffin is crazy.
Speaker 5 (36:59):
Rob G, how long before Lane Kiffin leaves LSU in
a bad, like they're beefed out?
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Two years, Max? Two weeks. Two weeks.
Speaker 5 (37:09):
I don't see this. It's going to go bad. He's
going to leave something bigger.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
You are the one beneath the herd.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
I love Betty. Midler. Not the midline. Baker Mayfield, by
the way. New contract.
Speaker 6 (37:24):
Next.
