Speaker 3 (01:00):
He got Rob Woodson.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Wow, the return of Rob Woodson, the Hall of Fame
defensive back who has joined us in the past and
will continue every Monday, five thirty pm Pacific eight thirty Eastern.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
And also, of course, Rob. We are we having moments away.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
From the start of the first Monday night football game
of the year, the New York You got a great
one the New York Jets at the San Francisco forty
nine ers.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Of course, Aaron.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Rodgers making his Jets debut. Well, yeah, that's right, Yeah
he played four plays, but you're right. Making his return
for the Jets, I guess. And Christian McCaffrey, who is
out the start running back for the Niners, out tonight
with a cash strain, rob They just need to keep

(01:48):
him out as long as it takes to get that ready,
because calf strains are nothing to play around with, particularly
for running backs and quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
So he might be out for a little while.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
But anyway, let's talk about another game that took place yesterday.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
It was the debut of Caleb Williams.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Who the number one draft pick from USC goes to
the Bears. A lot of talk about him being set
up in a way that no other number one draft
pick at quarterback has ever been set up.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Might be a way bit a wee bit extreme, but.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
I don't know, I mean, there aren't because usually, as
you know, guys go to the worst team, you know,
and the Bears were a seven win team last year
that really played well over the second half of the season.
They you know, have two they got ke They added
Keenan Allen as a receiver, drafted Roma Dunes who's was

(02:44):
a great college receiver already had you know Dj Moore
I mentioned the defense, like they got DeAndre Swift, who's
a good running back, was great in Philadelphia last year.
So I mean they put a lot around him. He
has a lot around him and a lot of expectations
for this team. Some rob have even picked them to
reach the super Bowl, which.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
No rookie was that they right for the Chicago Nick right, Nick,
one of my co hosts on first he picked them
to go to the super Bowl. Picked them to go
to the super Bowl. So again Nick u Will where
his nickname of Nick wrong? Okay, because they ain't going
to the super Bowl. So what did he say that

(03:27):
today on the show?

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Well did he? I mean, god, I mean he said.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
We we didn't. We just talked more about Caleb, who
was not good.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
But as far as the Bears, he basically said, look,
you know this is this is perfect because Caleb's got
to go through growing pains and he's gonna get better.
And their defense showed that it's legit. And I mean
I didn't agree with him, but this is what he said,
I'm just legit a football game with him playing poorly.

(03:56):
But here here's how poorly he played.

Speaker 6 (03:58):
Rob.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
I mean, he was bad. There's no if, SAMs or
butts about it. It was one of the worst debuts
of a number one pick in recent memory. He was
fourteen for twenty nine below. That's like forty eight percent,
ninety three yards, no touchdowns, no picks. And I did
a little digging and Rob of the last. There have

(04:21):
been eight quarterbacks drafted number one in the last ten years,
and of the eight, Caleb Williams is the only one
not to throw for nine for one hundred yards or more.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Every other one throw for at least one hundred and thirty.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
That includes Bryce Young, who's just had a horrible start
to his career, who.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Was drafted, you know, last year number one, and then
Caleb had the lowest.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Completion percentage of any of them at forty eight point
three percent. Jameis Winston was only forty eight point five percent,
but still obviously Caleb lower than him. Him and uh,
but I guess if you want to look at the
glasses half full, Kayler was the first number one pick
to win his first game ever in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Since David Carr back in two thousand and two.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
That was fourteen number one picks had gone oh in
fourteen oh, fourteen and one.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
I guess Kyler Murray tired. So there you have it, Rober.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
He also had I believe, the second lowest passer rating.
I think it was the second lowest passer rating. I
think Bryce Young was lower. But it wasn't good. But
what were your thoughts.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
I mean, that's a mixed bag.

Speaker 5 (05:38):
Obviously it wasn't what people had expected, and there's a
big difference we talk about it between preseason and the
regular season and all that. There were a couple of
plays that were I'm sure he would love to have back.
There was a throwdown the sidelines Chris that he overthrew
I would have been a big play at least one.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
I know that was really a few. Yeah, And then.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
We talked about I'm not making excuses, Keenan Allen dropped
a touchdown, which would have changed a little bit of
how he looked in the situation.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
I mean, that's another It was.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
A kind of a duck the way he threw it
wasn't like a spiral, but but he still was dropped
point yeah, And my point is, yeah, it's just, uh, it.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Wasn't exactly what he would have wanted.

Speaker 5 (06:22):
But but I look at it as he he's going
to build off of it and get better. I believe
in him. I don't I'm not saying he's gonna be
MVP of the league. But I think some of the
stuff that people are just over the top. I saw
him play major college football against a lot of good
schools and put up a lot of numbers, and I

(06:42):
just think it takes time as well as we do.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Everybody doesn't just jump in. Everybody's not a CJ.

Speaker 5 (06:47):
Stroud. He's the outlier for most people. And we talk
about all the time, Chris. There's a lot of guys
who have to find their way, you know, and a
lot of guys don't play right away. Aaron Rodgers, we
talk about one of the all time great he sat
for three years. Patrick Mahomes sat his first year.

Speaker 6 (07:04):
You know.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
Like, so you think Caleb will be a star. I
think he has the potential to be a star. Yeah,
I'm gonna say he will be a star with this
team with the Bears and be a franchise quarterback.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
And I think what what will help him.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
Is that he doesn't have to light it up because
they do have a defense. He don't need to come
out and light it up, but make smart plays because
he has a defense that can keep him in games.
And that's what we saw in this situation. I mean,
they were Warday down seventeen to nothing, the seventeen seventeen
three out of three. You know, man winning a game

(07:42):
like that, chrise seventeen.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
No, they got a touchdown off a black punt and
actually the touchdown return black punt touchdown return.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
And an NFFN.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
They got a pick six, which was a horrible play
by Will Levis, the quarterback, second year quarterback for Tennessee.

Speaker 5 (07:59):
I mean, if you if you're a Tennessee, I mean, god,
you know they had to be.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
But they're not a very They're not a very good team.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
A lot of people, including myself, have them finishing last
in the AFC South.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Although I did pick.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Them to win this game, and I thought I had
it until Will Levis just started screwing up. They were
down seventeen nothing, seventeen three at halftime was their lead,
and then like I said, they got seventeen three, seventeen
seventeen three at halftime.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
But it was seventeen nothing.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
That's what I thought.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Seventy second right, Okay, so they got Chicago got three
field goals and and then the touchdown from the punt return.
I'm sorry, I'm a block punt return and then an
interception return pick.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
I'm gonna give you some quarterback numbers. Tell me whether
this this quarterback won the Super Bowl or not. Thirteen
for twenty three, one hundred and forty one yards, no touchdowns, interception, five,
got sacked five times.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Is that a that that's a performs from what his
first game?

Speaker 4 (09:02):
No, no, no, I'm just that's a super Bowl performance.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
So a quarterback played in the Super Bowl that those
numbers one, I don't.

Speaker 5 (09:09):
Feel you know what that was? Yeah, you know what
that was. That was the paid Manning year with the
great defense that never had. And I'm not saying that
Caleb's going to play that poorly. I'm just saying he
got a win, he got started. I think he can
relax knowing that he has a deal. I think that
helps a lot. I really do, Chris, that that you
know that you don't have to force it. You don't

(09:31):
want to be one of those guys and I'm sure
he's humbled by it. This guy was a top pick.
He was the Heisman Trophy winner. There are many saturdays,
I'm sure of now Sundays where he played that poorly,
and I'm sure that could make him focusing on what
he needs to do and how he needs to get
better without the bravado or I'm that guy and I'm

(09:55):
that or whatever it is. This is a humbling experience
that I think can well.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
I do think it was good for him because whatever
he's going to become, this was good for him because one.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
It lowered the expectations.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
I mentioned to you Nick Wright and some others have
picked them to go to the Super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Who else?

Speaker 4 (10:16):
Somebody else?

Speaker 3 (10:17):
I've heard just various pundits, not a ton, but I've
heard people.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
Talk about that. I just the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Even a lot most people haven't made that I've seen
have him making the playoffs, and they might, especially with
Jordan Love getting hurt for the past, expectations are fairly high.
So I think this low and even for him individually, Rob.
I mean, we we saw him perform in the preseason
where he had a couple of spectacular plays to.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
The point where people rip Bill Belichick for.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Just being like he was all right in the preseason,
Like I mean, this is this is the goat coach
won six Super Bowls, and people are ripping him because
he refused to bow down and say the.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Kid was great.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
And what Belichick and others knew was that preseason is nothing.
You we saw it last year and you see it.
You've seen it years before too. But Kenny Pickett was
great last year in the preseason for the Steelers, terrible
in the regular.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
Season this year, Knty Pickett, where is he Now's I
forgot where in the backup somewhere he's in the league.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
But but you know, and I think so.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
I think it was good because it lowered expectations. Now
people aren't expecting him to light it up every every weekend.
And I think people really were thinking he was gonna
come out and do something similar in a different style,
but similar to C. J. Stroud, And now I think
already expectations are a little lower.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Secondly, I think to your.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Point, Rob, and I don't know that he was getting
the big head. I'm not saying he was.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
But it humbles you like this, No, he was not humbled.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
I mean, he would only be human rob if he
played the way he did in the preseason and was like, oh,
it's about to be on. This is this is the
Pac twelve all over again. I'm about to light these
people up. Remember he sent the text to the punter
of the Bear saying, you're not gonna punt.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Much here, you know. So he thought he was about
to step in and just go crazy.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
And now his attitude should be I gotta get in
the lab because I'm not nearly as good as I
think I am or that I can be.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
And so I do agree.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
If he's made of the right stuff, then this will
help him. It will just humble him, make him work harder.
And there's certainly no reason for him to be discouraged,
no for you to say, all right, I gotta get
a lot better. And he probably saw a lot of
different coverages that he didn't see in the preseason and
all types of things.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
The games a lot faster.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
He's not gonna be able to run away from, you know,
defenders the way he did in college. Yeah, sometimes, but
not at will like he did in college. So I
do think it was good. He played really badly though,
I mean, like I said, he I couldn't. You couldn't
find a quarterback number one pick in the last ten

(13:20):
years who in certain ways played as badly as he did.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
He did. Now, there some of those quarterbacks had interceptions.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Rob, he at least didn't do that, but he definitely
has to, you know, get better.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
I'm with you. I don't have the Bears.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
I think that's nuts to have them going to the Yeah,
just like that, I mean they could get in there.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Yeah, that wasn't on my radar at all.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
That's why when I hear Super Bowl, I know people
were looking to try to find somebody in the NFC.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
But yeah, really that's.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
That's that's And now, Robert g what's the latest on
Roma Dunes that he had his knee look at to receive?

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Did anything he had MRI. I don't think anything's come
out yet.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
All right, Uh, it's the Eye Couple, Chris and Rob

your thoughts on what he did yesterday and what you

All right, Chris, let's kick it off, Mike and Augusta.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
You're on the couple. Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Mike?

Speaker 8 (15:49):
What's going on? Fellas?

Speaker 9 (15:51):
I'm glad you took my calls. I was able to
get on before Chris left. Man, we're gonna miss your Chris.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (15:58):
Man.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
I'm gonna miss y'all too, for.

Speaker 9 (16:00):
Sure, for sure. So I got a smoking hot take
straight off the waffle house.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
Thrill.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (16:07):
Taylor Williams is going to be a bust, gonna be
like not a regular bus, but he's gonna be like
the butt of a joke bus, like JaMarcus Russell' Ryan Lee.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
But he's yeah, okay, you gotta explain.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
I mean, Mike, you don't you know it's fine not wow, no, no,
but you got to give us why you believe you
just can't throw that at he's a bust after one game.

Speaker 9 (16:30):
Because he's a bear. He plays for I'm a packer face.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
Okay, all right, then then this is more your fans.
This is this is you hoping.

Speaker 9 (16:38):
Now I know I'm hoping, but I'm serious. I've never
seen the Bears as an organization developed a quarterback. They
ruin him. They ruined quarterbacks, that's what they do. And
you'll see that with Justin Fields.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
Who they ruined. Who they're ruined Justin Field. Really he
can't get the ball in the end zone.

Speaker 9 (16:58):
He didn't. He had all these different coordinators just wind
has as the Bears they never had.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
They never had Luckman, but sad Luckman.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
But but we're talking about, give me a name of
a top quarterback that they had that they that didn't develop.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
I mean or I'm just I don't know if you
could say that.

Speaker 5 (17:22):
I'm just Jake Cutler. He didn't play well anyway. But
Jake Cutler wasn't like he wasn't. He came from Denver though,
that one he didn't.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
Right, but he was, you know, he was okay for them. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Look, that's a hate, that's a he right, that's the
take hot off the waffle iron grill.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
So we will see uh waffle house grill.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
We'll see if he is here right on that mark
this one.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
I want us to go back to this.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
I mean, I look, I do, I mean, it's it's
obviously cold in Chicago. The wind is blows and swirls,
you know, which is a little different from some places.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
But I'm not gonna write this kid off by any stretch.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Can't do it yet.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
I And like you said, he said he's a Packers fan,
so he's he's there's some wishful thinking in there.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
Too, no doubt, because he's gonna be in the way,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
Yeah, so you don't want him to have a quarterback
even though they have their own Hollywood in Chicago.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
You're on the couple of Fox Sports. Ready, what's up, Hollywood?

Speaker 8 (18:23):
Hollywood soft? Congratulations Chris Man. Definitely gonna miss you. I'm
probat of the brigade because Rob blocked me like two
years ago, so I'm not part of Perkins people anymore.
He blocked me off to it because I was getting
on there Rogers. But that's another topic.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
I'm blocking by wall, blocking by wall to.

Speaker 5 (18:46):
Blocking by walk to you would block to if they tried.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
To dish you. Hey Man, welcome.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
I'm just glad you joined Bruce Ar's brigade. He got
you know what that come with membership and you know what,
take go right with him?

Speaker 4 (19:03):
The fst one.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
Yeah, come get watched the watch as one, that's for sure.

Speaker 8 (19:10):
But I'm like going bear to obviously, but I hate to.
I mean, listen, you know I hate Green Bay, but
I just don't see it. And the reason why I
say it is because one thing you know about the
Bear is robbing rob You've covered the Lions. The backup
is going to play at some point, whether injury or
the guy just playing bad. Like the backup players in Chicago.

(19:33):
I don't even know who's the last guy that started
sixteen games. I know they just went to seven, but
I don't even know the last guy.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
But they haven't had a guy that like this that
as much as it been expected of in the long room.

Speaker 8 (19:45):
But the office, I mean, you see, I just like
I have to see it. I like, but I hear.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
If you want to say you question his ability and
things like that, that's fine, but I can't just be
like you.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
I mean, for you just to say he's not gonna
be healthy.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
I mean, I don't mean it's.

Speaker 8 (20:06):
Not about healthy. I mean, but you're saying it's not.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Don't play this sixteen games.

Speaker 8 (20:10):
He's a Chicago so you get so you don't.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Think he's gonna be that great you don't think he's
gonna be a great quarterback.

Speaker 8 (20:18):
I just I really don't.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
Why, just because of their history or what.

Speaker 8 (20:23):
I just don't the offensive line, I don't. I don't
like our left tackle. I don't. I mean, he's been hurt.
I just don't like we've never solidified that offensive line
the way we should.

Speaker 6 (20:32):
Man.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
I mean, look, I I hear you, but I don't
think offensive line is is an excuse.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
I'm glad he's a Buchard bugade, So I'm good with that, Hollywood.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
You could A lot of teams don't have great offensive Chris.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
He didn't have anything. He didn't have anything in his bag.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
Let's just know.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
No, he just it's a feel.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
If that's all you, fine, fine, but say that, just say.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
That it's a gut And I can't give you the
reason why. I just don't feel like and the juts.
They might have gotten lucky here, Chris, but.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
They fumbled Breist Hall funk bumbled Aaron Rodgers and they
did hold.

Speaker 8 (21:14):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
It was in their territory, their whole San Francisco to
a field goal.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
So that's not bad to start, you know what I mean,
when you give up the ball like rock Berdy has
been off.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
There was a miscommunication with his receivers.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
But all right, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven, seven, nine nine six sixty three sixty nine
Rode Woodson around the corner.

Speaker 2 (21:37):

Speaker 1 (21:59):
NFL analysts are Man with the funky theme music. Rob
Wood's it O. Rod, how are you Man? Good to
have you back going?

Speaker 6 (22:14):
Hey, I'm doing good Man another year. Let's see what's
happening in this crazy NFL.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
Well, you know Rod that this is Chris Is last
week on the Odd Couple.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
He's uh, Rob is firing me? He said no, that
he's on his way.

Speaker 5 (22:30):
He wants to focus only on television, which and we
wish him well. We got a new Odd Couple partner,
Kelvin Washington, who starts next Monday.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
So this is it for Chris.

Speaker 6 (22:41):
Yeah, Chrisyi, I'm going to miss your man. I do
see you on TV over there, So keep it up, man,
thank you. You just just tell everybody you just too
good for being on the radio.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
Exactly.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
Your faith, your faith, Your faith is made for TV.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
That's it, that's it. He doesn't want to put in
the hard work.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Well, look, I will miss our Monday, our Monday interviews
with you, that's for sure. But let's let's make this
win a good win as the last one. So let's
start with Caleb Man. Obviously a ton of hype about
Caleb Williams. He didn't live up to it, but they
did get a w. So what'd you make? What do
you make of the hype? And what do you think

(23:20):
of what he did on Sunday?

Speaker 6 (23:22):
Well, I mean, listen, everybody wants a rookie to play
like he's a three year, four year, five year, six
year vet, and it's gonna be some go on playing sometimes.
You know, some players are going to have some good games,
then some players they won't, or some games they won't.
Their defense played tremendous football and there those special team's

(23:44):
got a block kicked and returned for a touchdown. So
but you win as a team, you lose this team,
and I think he'll keep growing. He is really talented,
very athletic. He can do a lot of good things
in and out of the pocket, So I think there's
gonna be a lot of positive for him to build
off of. Obviously he didn't throw for three hundred and
fifty yards and three touchdowns, but maybe not that many

(24:07):
rookies can do that in the first of especially their
first game of their professional career.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
Yeah, they were they What was it?

Speaker 5 (24:15):
I saw three rookies who played and they had no
touchdowns and.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
Two picks for all three yesterday yesterday, you know what?

Speaker 5 (24:23):
And uh Bo Nicks bow knicks right, both Nicks had
two interceptions and none of those three quarterbacks had had
a touchdown.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
So it is part of it.

Speaker 5 (24:33):
Let me ask you, though, my question would be Daniel Jones,
and I don't want to beat a dead horse. Well,
we've been talking about for a long time. The Giants
made a decision. They picked Daniel Jones over Saint Kwan Barkley.
I get it, it's a quarterbacks league. I don't know
about him as a quarterback. Can he get any better
or not?

Speaker 6 (24:54):
Man? First of all, I wouldn't have picked I wouldn't
pick markle out right, and I'm going to put that one.
But you know, can't he get better? I don't know,
I just don't. We haven't seen it. This is this
is the thing. Normally great players you see slashes of

(25:14):
their greatness somewhere along the line, and the question has
to be have we seen those slashes? I haven't. But nonetheless,
he's still got an outstanding contract, He's going to make
a lot of money. He's there, he's their future. I mean,
he's their future franchise quarterback for them for years to come.

(25:38):
Can he get better? I just I just haven't seen
the flashes that you would normally see from really good
players in spurts, and I just haven't seen them from him.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
The good thing for them is remember that that deal,
only the eighty million in the first two years was guaranteed,
so they will be able to move on from him
after this season, So that that's there still gave.

Speaker 5 (26:01):
Him millions somehow, Yeah, that was a mistake, but they'll
they'll be able to move on.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
But somebody who's not gonna be able to move on
is the Browns.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
And so what how how surprised are you that Deshaun
Wison has not been able to show any like even
a hint of what he was in Houston. And do
you think it's time for them to put Jameis Winston
in instead of you know, and just bench emin eat
the money?

Speaker 6 (26:29):
And that was I don't know why he can't be
that same quarterback that we saw in Houston.

Speaker 5 (26:37):
He has no juice, energy, nothing about to be twenty others.

Speaker 6 (26:43):
It is it the guaranteed money. He's getting the money
no matter how you play, right, right, So is it
that money that he's getting that he doesn't have that drive?
I don't really know. I'm not in the locker room.
I really don't know him as a as a as
a person. But there's a lot of question mark there
and to see why and he has he has tools,

(27:04):
he got played. I know Chubb didn't played because he's injured.
I know that, but just to see some really great quarterbacks.
Great quarterbacks make their receivers better, right, he has good
receivers and he's still struggling, and he has good tight ends.
They're still struggling. And when Chubb is healthy, they got
a good running game and he struggled. So exactly what

(27:26):
it is I can't put I can't pinpoint it. I
can just say I don't know if it's just the money.
He got the money, he got his big payday, and
he hasn't been the same He hasn't been the same
player since he got that payday.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
Let me ask you this rock as you obviously were
a great defensive player if Jamis because there's a lot
of talk about should they go with Jamis Winston, who
we know seems to be well liked when he's in
different organizations and buy his teammates and stuff. If you're
a defensive player on the Browns, are you is there

(28:00):
a part of you or maybe all of you is thinking, man,
this dude is only starting because of the contract, and
they're not putting the best quarterback out there to give
us a chance to win. Like, if they're feeling that way,
is there a chance for dissension in the locker room?
And is that something you have to really be careful
with as a coach, because even if you want to
play him because of the contract, your players are saying,

(28:24):
he's not our best quarterback, so you're not giving us
a fair shot to win it.

Speaker 6 (28:29):
Most coaches is going to pay and play their best players.
Sometimes in some organizations. I don't know how the Cleveland
Browns are ran. I don't know. If you know, Haslin
is part of it and he's making decisions and they're
telling him because he has that money that's coming to him.
This contracted states the way it is that you got
to play him. I don't know if that's the case,

(28:51):
but normally coaches played the best players. And you know,
can you have a revolt? Yeah, maybe you can. They
get it once they get to a point where they
have a players only meeting. You know, you got some
issues in chieveless.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
Let me ask you.

Speaker 5 (29:08):
I don't understand Jerry Jones, Like he does the same
thing over and over. He strings people along, Oh my god,
he's not gonna pay, not gonna pay, and then he
always rolls over and pays, makes everybody yes paid. Why
can't he just get a deal done and not do
all this? I don't understand. He always rolls over at

(29:31):
the end. What he says.

Speaker 6 (29:34):
Do you think he does it so he can be
talked about?

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Is that what.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
Attention?

Speaker 6 (29:43):
He likes attention? Yeah right, he likes attentions. So does
he do it knowing in his mind that he's gonna
sign the player anyway, but he wants some type of attention.
I don't really know. It just doesn't make sense because
for the most part, he has given the guy the contracts.

(30:03):
They need the contracts. Well exactly why you don't do
it from day one or two weeks intwo And it
doesn't make any sense so that.

Speaker 5 (30:11):
You're not missing practice and it's not the same old conversation.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
It just doesn't seem it's one thing.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
If you're not going to pay the guy, then I
get it right, like there's a debate, but every single
guy right.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Let me let me ask you this ride before you go,
and it's about the Ravens and Lamar Jackson. We saw
him Thursday night against Kansas City. What were you thinking
when you saw Lamar Jackson running the way he was?

(30:47):
I mean he was running into guys, he was looking
for contact, trying.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
To run people over.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
I don't think it'll last two months if he keeps
doing that. What was your thought as you see him
doing that?

Speaker 6 (31:00):
I don't think that's going to be his game plan,
his motive. Uh, every week, weekend and week out. I
think this first week out playing the Kansas City Chief,
the team that beat him in the championship game that
was in the back of his head, you know, trying
to think. I really believe that they got to find
a balance on how to use Derrick Henry, right, I really,

(31:23):
I really believe they got to fit because Derrick Henry
is better as he gets more touches. And I know,
I know coach Harball h Hart that he talked about
a little bit today talking about, Hey, listen, it's going
to come that he's going to get twenty something touches
in the game. But I think they're going to work
their way to that. And at the end of the day,
as bad as they played, they still had an opportunity

(31:45):
to win the football game. And I don't but I
don't think Lamar is going to be that. I don't
think he's going to try to, you know, scramble and
run everybody over. He does feel good though. He looks
way faster, way quicker than he did last year. He
lost that weight. You feel it was athletic again, and
he felt it, you know, in that first week, and
I think he wanted to win that football game. So

(32:06):
I think it's going to come. I think it's a
learning curve and it's going to be one of those
things that as he gets going and Derek is getting
really comfortable and Todd Munkin is learning how to use them,
then he won't take all those those runs, and he
won't be trying to run people those vbs over. I
think if its a dB, he might always try to
run the corners over. He ain't trying to run no

(32:29):
linebackers over.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
All right, that's our mayor ride. Great stuff is always right.
Thank you man, I miss you.

Speaker 6 (32:36):
Man, I miss your brother.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
I'll see you all right, peace. Morey couple, come in
your way.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
Daniel Jones bued in New York, and hey, his teammates
come to his defense.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
I like that, I.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Mean shows a little bit of love for him. That's next.
I couple. Fox Sports Radio.

the Vikings quarterback Sam Darnald why arose from the Ashes
to go nineteen for twenty four rob eight yards, two
touchdowns and the Vikings blowout win over the Jets. So again,

(33:52):
congratulations Sam. I'm sorry the Giants, So congratulations to Sam
Darnald for being our Express Prospros week man.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
That's a huge win too for the Viking.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Yeah, and you used to be a big Sam Donald fan. Yes,
you you you you are completely out on him. Remember,
Like I'll just say this, I'm not into an him.
I'm out after the fourth team. I mean, how many
teams he's been on? Right, I mean, come on, Chris, Like.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Now Baker, Baker went to Baker was what Brown?

Speaker 5 (34:20):
I wasn't out on Baker, No, I know, but I'm
just saying he's been to four teams.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
But what I'll I'm not intoing Darneld. What I will
say is this, he went to San Francisco. Maybe he
learned some stuff under Kyle Shanahan Kevin O'Connell in Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
They run a similar.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
Type offense, So maybe you know this is a good
fit for him. I don't expect greatness by any stretch,
but you know, so far, so good. I have a
little bit of success.

Speaker 5 (34:51):
Don't you remember I told you this first pass in
the NFL was going to be a touchdown.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
You remember that?

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Yeah, it was a pig six. Well, speaking of pick
sixes that Trey Wingo had and other people, that's a
ridiculous mention.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
It to me.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Since he signed the four year, one hundred and sixty
million dollar contract, thank goodness for Giants fans, only eighty
million was guaranteed and he'll be done.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
With that after this season.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
He's thrown more pick sixes than touchdown. Chris hemates that that's.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Gotta be about the worst stat I've ever heard.

Speaker 4 (35:26):
Yes, I agree with you.

Speaker 5 (35:27):
And then they have the teammates mad at the fans
for booing him.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
Well, so here it is.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
They booed him in Dexter Lorens, the Giants defensive tackle. Yeah,
here's what he said, Rod, do we have the booths
or we don't have the booths? Okay, here's what he said.
I don't respect it. Honestly, I get it. They want
to see their team win. Is just a rough patch.
It is what it is, your thoughts, right.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
It's not a rough patch. This is who he is.
A rough patch.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Chris is six game, four game, six games, not six years, right.

Speaker 5 (35:56):
A rough patch. This is like, uh, the lawn at
the White House a rough batch. Come on, man, I
mean you can't even even our god, Greg Jennings. Chris
had to just he couldn't even go on with the tarade.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
He said today that Daniel Jones is dead to him?

Speaker 4 (36:18):
Am I right?

Speaker 1 (36:19):
But here he's NFL Dad, Chris, he is. I get
dexter Lords. I mean, look, if I was a teammate,
if I was Daniel Jones, I appreciate dexter Lord saying
what he's saying.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
It's your teammate. I get it.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
But Rob, even if you feel that way, and I'm
sure I'm be honest, I'm sure a lot of players,
if not most players, feel that way. You just gained
nothing from saying it, Chris.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
You get you.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
It's a lose, lose your composition.

Speaker 5 (36:54):
The fans aren't going anywhere your career is going to
be shorter than their fandom. And and they've been fans
for sixty seventy years, and you can't stop people from
being unhappy when things don't go. They booed the hell
out of Aaron Judge in April, Chris, He's gonna win
the American League MVP, right right.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
They weren't happy with the way he was playing.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
Means we as we've said, Rob, indirectly, they paid the bills. Yes,
they pay your bills if they stopped going to your games,
you know, because you don't. You don't think they should
have the right to boo. It's not going in well
for athletes. No, So you just I get it. You're upset,
but you just gotta suck it up and understand it
is what it is.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
Rob g what you guys, I just got a quot.
I'm with you, guys.

Speaker 10 (37:39):
Daniel Jones is terrible, but Giant fans started booing him
two snaps into the game. Man didn't stop until two
hours after when some met him at the tunnel.

Speaker 3 (37:51):
But it is that excessive?

Speaker 4 (37:52):
Yes, you know why.

Speaker 5 (37:53):
It's not because they felt like it was a continuation.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
Chris of last year.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
Well, what was it? So had he made a mistake
at that point. No, they just he threw the complete
passed it was a bad pass and used Here's what
I'll say to me.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
Yeah, it's excessive, but you know what, they can do
what they want to do, right.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
That's the thing. They can.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
They pay boatloads of money to go to game games. Yeah,
I mean again within reason. No racial stuff, no, none
of that, you know, just stuff you can go beyond
the pill.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
But just as long as you're within reason, it is
what it is. They can say what they want.

Speaker 4 (38:31):
They can.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
You know how you stop them from booing you.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
You do what Aaron Judge has done all year in
New York.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
Right after they well, and they'll start shearing you. It's
just a simple It comes with your salary. How about
that comes with the millions you make. Keep it locked.
