Shop talk coming up later on in this hour. A
lot of stuff to get to.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
It's a good one too, Rob, Is it maybe something
topical we all experience?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Ooh okay, good tease, very nice all I appreciate it.
And Rob g we talk about the NBA all the time,
and I know every time Kelvin somebody wins or loses,
it's the end of the world. It's just the playoffs
don't work like that. Like you lose, whether you lose
by one or you lose by forty. And Philadelphia is
a perfect example. They didn't win the game, but they
(01:43):
without their best player. They were there right there, knocking
on the door. And it wasn't the end of the world.
They didn't pack it up and go, oh, it's all over,
we can't win this series. They came out and they fought,
and they're on the road, and okay, the Nick's held
home court. But last night, I know a lot of
people were down, you know, on the Spurs after they
lost the first game at home. And guess what, Robb g.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
Yeah, actually both of those games, both of those games.
Coming into Game two, the narratives have already been written.
The New York Knicks were the hottest team in NBA history.
They're better than the Oklahoma City Thunder, blowing every team
out by twenty five points a game. They win Game
one by thirty nine, I believe, and the expectation was
no MB they're at home, they're gonna roll again, and
(02:26):
were it not for some wide open misses there in
the final two or three minutes by Philly, this could
be one one heading back to Philadelphia for Game three. Instead,
Nicks prevailed good on them in the evening game. In
the night game, Minnesota shorthanded runs through Yoker and the Nuggets.
In Round one, they come in on the road, short rest.
(02:49):
San Antonio has been off for about a week. They
win that game to Wemby. Has all these blocks, but
nothing else seemed to work there for san Antonio. The
expectation was, well, man, maybe san Antono's not as good
as we thought they were. Maybe this is gonna be
one of those GrITT and grind, really you know, tight series.
And then in Game two they win by forty and
they make Minnesota look like the junior varsity. So what
(03:11):
we saw in game one in both of these series
was nothing close to what we saw there in game two.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
No, And the lesson to the whole thing is that
it's basketball, it's the playoffs, and there's gonna be some circumstances.
Guys are right shots on falling. You have a bad
three point shooting night could turn into a disaster, right
a forty point loss. We've seen the Celtics turn in
those kind of games where they can't make shots last
(03:39):
night for the Sixers, but they fought. And the whole
idea is the NBA is about winning four games. It's
not about winning one game. It's not about blowing anybody out.
You don't get style points. It's win and go to
the next game. And it doesn't matter if you win
by one or you win by forty. It's still about winning.
And I think people have jump the gun on that
(04:00):
or been a prisoner of the moment. Oh, this series
is over. The only one you could do that is
with the Lakers. Like this series over?
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Wait a minute, Professor Parker, didn't you just say you're
going to learn us a lesson?
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Rob g Am? I right with that one or not?
Speaker 1 (04:13):
I mean, I just you know what I'm saying, Like
I tend to agree with you Rock like that one.
I'm just not feeling like the Lakers and you just
said it. They lost by an average of twenty seven.
Just a terrible matchup for them.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
It is.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
It's the worst, and I don't think that they're going
to be able to do what needs to be done.
But this is the NBA and you shouldn't fall in
for that. Don't be a prisoner of the moment. I
know we say it all the time, but people do it.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Yeah. I think there are a handful of series where
you can kind of do that, the obvious one being
the thunder Lakers because they just don't have the horses
and we all know that. The Lakers know that, especially
when series you come in saying you know it's bad,
when the first thing you keep saying is well, if
they win wanted to then maybe Luca could come back.
Then you know what it is. But this is what
we do, and this is what the playoffs provide us
because in the early rounds there are those random two
(05:00):
three days off. Can you play it on a Friday,
don't play again until Tuesday. So I think it gives
us nothing but time to oh man, they got blow
wout and they're out of it and look how they
did this. The playoffs are great because it's a story.
It's a full arc. Right. You see the guy who
went you know, three for fifteen and then the next
game he ends up, you know, only missing two shots.
You get the guy who you never heard of. He
(05:21):
has a star game he's seven for eight from three.
Then you get the superstars who had a bad game
and bounce back. That's what makes the playoffs, specifically a
series great, is because you're able to get a little
bit of everything. You get close games, you might get
a blowout. It's how do you bounce back that guy
was off, his shot was on. How to coaches strategize
what are the starting lineup switches? We're gonna start him
(05:42):
because I like the way he plays them better. And
that's what makes it better, or it makes it great
because sometimes with the NFL, I don't think we all
feel the best team wins the super Bowl very year. Right,
it happens, but not every time because it's the one
and done. And if you get a team that just
threw a couple of your quarterback through some interceptions Jared Goff,
if you get a team that I'm saying on the
(06:04):
way you know where the best, you know the better teams.
If you get a team where another guy you know
you're bounces off ahead and interception pick six, you just
have a bad game. In basketball, you get a full
on series, best of seven, and that's where you get
so many different storylines, and that's Ultimately, what makes it incredible, right,
is an't gonna play game one? We don't know? Oh
he does play plays well, they they get they beat
(06:25):
the Spurs. Team, Spurs bounce back. If you heard Anthony
Edwards after the game last night, he said, I told
the team teams typically, especially the underdog, come in, they
get one on the road. They let down. We did it,
we fill in ourselves. Were cool. And he said, he
came out and what is that? A hard head makes
a soft you know what? And that's what he said.
He said, my mom always said that, and they came in.
(06:45):
He makes a sore behind, right, sore behind exactly. So
they got that behind tapped by the Spurs. Not as
it means the Spurs are gonna blow them out again.
They might come back and lose or at least a
competitive one.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
But what did you make of like, and I know
you get crazy because Spurs and what they look like,
but but what's your opinion of that series?
Speaker 7 (07:05):
Like?
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Where are you?
Speaker 4 (07:06):
I think the Spurs are not normal team, a young team,
and that normally young teams. You know, they struggle, they
don't close games, right, you know, they they've get in
their emotions. The Spurs are different. They're built a little
differently than most young teams, so meaning they're gonna have
a fight. They're gonna have They're not gonna be oh
we lost game one? Oh man, what was us? We
(07:26):
don't know what to do. They're absolutely gonna compete and
they're so deep. They got so many guys. The credit
to the uh the Timberwolves is they're equally tough. And
I told I said this to you the other day.
I think we all forget because it's kind of been
what's the term I want to use unhralded. But they're
the ones that been to the Western Conference Finals twice,
they beating Timberwolves, so they're the ones that got some experience.
(07:48):
So I expect them to come back and bounce back
and fight and make this a six or seven game
series either way. But a lot of people just, oh,
the Spurs are gonna be able to handle that. I'm like, oh, don't. Now,
Minnesota has been there, They've got some dogs, they got
ad words. Who has to play better? And I expect
this to be a full on competitive series. Absolutely six
or seven. I still go Spurs. I think they're just
(08:09):
too deep. If they had divin Chezo Citinzo and uh
it wasn't the Ao Demensu, I would be having a
bazunta and a different conversation maybe because you're losing two
guys who really are key key Coggs and what you
do for the Timberwolves, that's big blows to lose those guys.
So I'll take the Spurs, but I absolutely expect to
expect this one to go six or seven.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
What does that say too about the Timberwolves though? I mean,
I know they're dealing with an injury and I got
it and came back. But are they going backwards or
it's just the injury situation, you know, because two years
in the Western Conference finals now you'd be getting knocked
out prior to that, so that's three years.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Are they going back?
Speaker 4 (08:45):
I think the surge, I mean the surge of the Spurs,
Like where did that? Nobody had this? You know, you
know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Right, and that's going to be like right away the
t Wolves never got there and now here comes other
teams jumping in front of them.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
And that's why we talk about this more now than ever. Rob,
if you got a shot, you gotta win it because
this NBA, I mean the thunder looked like they could
be that, but you never know, the Spurs could be that. Mean,
my point is, this isn't the you know, the Warriors
went for five out of six seven years, and then
the Cavs went for it, and then we had that,
you know, those two going at it, and it seems
(09:19):
like like the Pistons could go this year or the
Knicks could go this year. The Thunder looked like on paper,
they're gonna go, but who knows, the Spurs could upset them.
We've had one time champions, what now six years or
something like that. It was the Suns, it was the Bucks,
it was obviously the Warriors came back in one one
and then you got the Celtics winning one and out
of the Thunder like, this isn't just one of those Oh,
we're gonna have it on lot guarantee for the next
(09:41):
few years. So if you're the Timberwolves, you gotta gotta
feel like the Knicks right like, we gotta get there
because it ain't no guaranteed. Next year is our year
because who's to know the Spurs aren't gonna have it
on lock for me.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Yeah, that's still it's almost the same thing in the
NFL like like their windows, and you gotta be careful
because if you don't make the window the Lions they
had that day, and then you're gonna pay people.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
You're gonna lose people.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
The roster changes, you lose coaches, you know what I mean,
and then what you had set up for those two
or three years aren't the same anymore.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
So the the NBA is interesting to me.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
It's just a different I mean, the second apron teams
are better than they look because they're really young. You know,
you got guys coming in nineteen twenty, so they look bad. Right.
If you're the Pistons a handful of years ago, you
look horrible fourteen games because Durance coming along, Kid's coming along.
If you're the U, if you're the the Spurs right
a couple of years ago, who you got wimby, then
(10:37):
he's hurt next year with the blood clots, and so like,
teams are getting so young, rob the Houston Rockets that
it's taken a couple of years of develop so you're
thinking they're worse than they really are, you get what
I mean. And then they just kind of like creep
up off the blue yod Oh shoot, because they've been
developing this young core talent. And that's just the way
the NBA is now, with the second Apron and not
a lot of free agents necessarily going places. You're getting
(10:59):
these really young teams that grow together. Next thing you know,
they're good spurs, they're good pistons, they're good or ain.
No magic could be that potential. We'll see how that
all shapes up. But there are some teams out here
with a with a nice nucleus. The Knicks are kind
of the anomaly of like Annobi was with the Raptors,
Bronson was with the Masks, Kat was with Minnesota. They
kind of built this team. A lot of these other
(11:20):
good teams have been ground up.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Yeah, it's gouldna be interesting, like the Knicks have been
put together.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
They made the deal. They did what they had to,
gave up five picks.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Ye for him, I'd even mention him from Michel.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Made right. They were put together.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
And that's why even for them, there's a you look
at that and say, well, Boston's gonna get back together,
maybe they'll be full strength, Maybe Milwaukee will add something there,
the Hall of Burton, the Nigga, they're gonna have a
top pick you know what I mean, because they were
terrible this year, so they're gonna add some talent to
what they have.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
By the way, Ryn rog the Thunder because of the
Clippers not making it, now they can get a potential
life pick to right, Yes they could. The rich kid,
the rich rich j don't even have to play. That's
how crazy is that they got twenty three twenty four
points type score. Guy, Hey, doon't even needs you, man,
(12:14):
Just rest up. We'll see you in June. Oh, by
the way, we might get some And what are they
saying about this draft? One of the best drafts we
had a long time, and now they're gonna mess around
with like the sixth pick or something and get a
top player to add to this team.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Right, the best thing that could happen is that, Okay,
she doesn't win the championship for the league. Yeah, so
just because it would be good that they don't win,
say and then and then they're going to get another player.
It just would be like, Okay, they won back to back.
Now they just added on another player, and then you
would make.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
The league with like the dude, this is ridiculous they
I mean, Sam Presty been in his bag my gosh.
Speaker 6 (12:51):
Well, you know what's weird about that, Rob is that
historically sports fans love dynasties, but this particular team, not
this team, They do not like them at all.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
I totally agree.
Speaker 6 (13:02):
They don't like SGA's flopping or with the foul Merchant.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
They don't.
Speaker 6 (13:06):
They don't like that, they don't like the outfits that
they wear, they don't like the commercials that they do
like some hate hate like though, for whatever reason, this team,
and we talked about this last year, should be celebrated
for how good they.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
Agree, I agree, and nobody, nobody likes them. It's true.
It's either because you're in camp. They're boring. You're in
camp there uh you know, like you said the foul Merchant,
or you're there camp they are a bunch of nerds
and duieves and like, why are those the guys winning?
So they yeah, that's you gotta be super duper mister basketball,
missus basketball to like be all in on them because
(13:40):
of paper if they were like defending themselves, they say,
don't we do it right? We played hard defense. We
got guys who are selfless. Their chemistry is on one
hundred and twenty percent, Like why don't you like us?
Our shooting guard is incredibly efficient. Like on paper, they
would be screaming from the mountains, what do we hit
me with a Alex? What more do you want from me?
Speaker 7 (13:59):
You want from me?
Speaker 4 (14:01):
That's what they would be saying. But for some reason,
they everybody like, I don't know, I just don't like you.
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Yeah, there's something you know that that people just there's
something that rubs him the wrong way.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Who's likable? Who's the team that is it Spurs? Maybe
I think the Spurs would win be I don't. I
don't think the team.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
I don't think he's like a polarizing figure at all,
even though he does speak out and he's very conscious.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
You've been hearing him lately. What he's been one wordy?
Did you see other post game? Because they were like
I had to play I forgot who was interviewing that
had to even played off like you're a man a
few words. But because I feel like he's caught what
we were talking about lately, because he they were like,
what did it take that? He was like toughness? Oh okay, yeah,
so what do you need to You don't need.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
To be nobody's saying do that. I think he was
getting a little extreme.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
He might be not being too extreme. Oh, I don't
want me to talk, so I ain't gonna talk.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Man.
Speaker 6 (14:49):
Yeah, they like it, man, but the team, Oh no,
they don't like the team. I'm saying, Man, I don't
because if you'd have to. People like the Warriors because
they liked other than that, they like the Lakers because Lebron.
That doesn't really exist.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Any Lakers because of Lebron. Like they both yeah, yeah, no,
he's both.
Speaker 6 (15:10):
People liked Giannis and the Bucks for a while and
then they.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Did those and anybody won that championship.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
People were like, oh, that's incredibly like without a doubt,
is it? Is it? In different team like the like
the Pistons. They love the hustle of the Pistons because
they had a whole kind of like the old four Pistons,
like going to work style.
Speaker 6 (15:30):
Well a couple of years ago, people like the Knicks
for that same reason.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
I think cat just man, if you wouldn't like a cat.
Speaker 6 (15:37):
And then thumb Gate happened, and then you.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Know, and by the way, Brunson went his uh, foul merchant,
his foul merchant, he has a lot of that in
him too. I think a lot of people, but I
don't know. Just curious if there's like a team that
people kind of, you know, get behind a little.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Bit, all right, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Our basketball fans overreact in to game one of these
playoff series.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
And are you like us and you hope that the
thunder doesn't win?
Speaker 1 (16:11):
I know people in okay See are turning their radios
off as we speak.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
They're winning though.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Anybody but okayc is city Rio, Yes it is. And
it worked very well for me. I enjoyed that Super
Bowl immensely. Anybody but okay See. It is The Odd

Which was let's see, well, this must be a show
that's been on an in the last twenty years.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
Yeah, it's also in the name of the show. It's
a team that already went home in the NBA Playoffs.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Okay, I like that. So the show is called Boston Public.
Oh that was that was a teaching show that William Shatner.
Speaker 7 (18:17):
Was he on that?
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Shock?
Speaker 4 (18:17):
I think was that was that?
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Was it a no?
Speaker 4 (18:20):
I think?
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Or was he Boston Legal?
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Boston Legal? Boston Legal? Yeah? It was the brother I
forgot his name actor. He was the principal on his
tall boy Head Brother. I have to look it up. Uh,
he was the principal of that that show. Rob.
Speaker 6 (18:33):
We don't mess with William Shannon. You know that.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
You guys had a problem with that.
Speaker 6 (18:37):
We got real beat.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
It's on site wait, which we like, like like all
of them.
Speaker 6 (18:40):
If I got beef, we all got beef with him
because he did something to Ben Mallo. Righty. First off,
let me tell you real quick to these calls, stay
on hold. Okay, number one, Ben mal They got the
malt militia. They are the rabid fan base in all
the sports media, even more than the odd mom oh no, no, they.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Are mob got stuffed the game.
Speaker 6 (19:01):
Up and Ben Maller went to a Kings game saw
William Shatner said, hey man, me and my guy shots
were there at the Kings game whatever, and the odd
mob starts inundating William Shatner's Twitter, like, why you ain't
pictured with Ben Mallard? Why don't you want to let
people know you were Ben Mallard? You mean militia excuse me?
(19:22):
So he gets upset and any person who was tagged
in any of these tweets, which of course we all
worked on that show, blocked by William Shatner.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
There you go, unbelievable. I had never Do you want
to be blocking in my nineties too?
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Oh? You are?
Speaker 3 (19:38):
For sure?
Speaker 4 (19:39):
It's my party. I can block it if I want to.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
But I'll probably have blockage first.
Speaker 9 (19:43):
I'm just like, it's my Twitter blocking walk to blocking
you block to if they tried to.
Speaker 6 (19:58):
William Shatton, You're gonna be on a recliner Pop Rougie
just blocking people off.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
On his on his cell phone for sure.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
Hopefully somebody will be on that McCline Whitby.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
I'm you're gonna be breaking recliners. I'm just saying, I mean,
I mean, at that point, why not have you la
little I'll be retired. But my question is is she
gonna be half your age plus seven?
Speaker 1 (20:20):
So you'll be like what, I'll be trying to make
a baby. The time I'll be like, I'm finally.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
The baby, it'll be eight years old with no daddy.
You went to see the lower his baby.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
It's better for that kid to have eight years with
me than none.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
What you think does not look attractive to put your
mouth on.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
Eight Yeah, I mean like you, that's it's not rude,
rob No, that's rude. That's kind of rude. Can you
start now so it might get it fifteen twenty twenty
five out of you?
Speaker 3 (20:53):
I don't know about that. All right, we're going crazy,
all right? Eight seven, seven ninety nine.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
I apologize. I'm trying to make you liter be eighty eight.
I'm just saying, don't get crazy.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
No I want to. I don't know about eighty eight.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
You don't want to do the eighty piece. You don't
want to do, then he get an eighty three piece.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
Hey, Brian and spoke in Washington. You're on the couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Brian?
Speaker 10 (21:16):
Hey, hardest fan.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
And I don'tunderstand for hating. Okay, see they still got
the majority of players when they moved over. Like they're
having a good time doing good things. On their team.
The only thing I don't like is dor Man. He's
just fucking dirty as health. Right, you really don't like him? Okay,
all right?
Speaker 3 (21:36):
He really made him man my first time on radio.
How about Johnny in Virginia. You're in the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. Hopefully you have soap in your mouth.
Speaker 10 (21:45):
Yeah, hey guys, how are you guys doing great?
Speaker 4 (21:49):
Thank you? All right?
Speaker 10 (21:52):
Uh, this is.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
A music themed TV theme, so on Thursday, there you go.
Speaker 10 (22:00):
Yeah. Well, well I might be wrong about this, but
dazz banned. That's that's where I want to go.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (22:09):
Secondly, I also want to say Rob g I do
miss you, Alex. I think you do a great job.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
Rob.
Speaker 10 (22:23):
You're working out. I can see it. You're getting slimmer.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
Call right now like this a lot of.
Speaker 10 (22:31):
No no, Rob is getting slimmer.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
By the moment.
Speaker 10 (22:37):
And by the way, there is no odd couple without Rob.
So give you a shout out, because if it's not you,
then I don't know how this happens.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Well, we appreciate Well.
Speaker 10 (22:52):
Going back to kind of the main topic, all I
want to say is, yes, people are overreacting around Game
one wins. And the funniest thing I've ever heard UH
talk with someone comparing the earlier conversation to R Kelly.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
Okay, appreciate the call. I just don't want us to
get into.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
Going off on the calls today.
Speaker 8 (23:25):
Ron.
Speaker 6 (23:25):
I don't know, Rob, Why did you cut him off
when he was complimenting you.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
You got to wait to the and I would like
to say, Okay, cut him off. You just don't want
to do Kelly.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
I don't want to do R Kelly. Do you want
R Kelly? No, I don't want to do.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Alex has Oh we already know Alex. We already know
Alex teenage. He really said that. That's the worst part
about that.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
He really really with Alex button that Alex.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
Caution, you know what we're gonna We're gonna save our
jobs and save the show, and we're gonna go to
bree right now if it is Breeds for we save us.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
It is the odd couple. Rob Kelvin on a TV
Things on Thursday Shop Talk on the Way, re just
mentioned there and you got it now fifty four to
forty seven pistons ten minutes left in the third pistons
up seven. Keep you updated on that. At University of
Maryland Global Campus, you can choose from more than sixty
five graduate online degrees and certificates, including our NBA now
(24:41):
with ten specializations, no application feed through June first visit
UMGC dot E du All right, Rob, g we got
despite the NBA playoffs, we still got a little NFL
news as well. That's right.
Speaker 6 (24:56):
This story is a Rob Parker special, not just because
the headline, but because of the way it is written.
In the lead.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
I'm gonna lead you.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
You already know I'm a journalism professor.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
You're gonna love this, Rob. So here's the headline. Report sources.
Aaron Rodgers expected to return to the Steelers for the
twenty twenty six seasons. We'll get to that in a second,
but here's the way that it's phrased on the website.
Aaron Rodgers expected to visit the Steelers this weekend, and
it's likely to play for them this season. Sources tele
NFL Networks Ian Rappaport. There is no agreement between the
(25:29):
Steelers and Rogers at this time.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
Okay, I can't even lie like that was bad, Like what.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
What are you saying? Right?
Speaker 1 (25:39):
It was almost like I remember, do you remember when
Joey Taylor had that ran no no no about being
in camp and we're just you know, and she was
talking about being in camp and all that, and we're
like joy.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
You know.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
He hasn't signed a conference, not on the he's not
on the roster, like like, I get what you're.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
Saying, but he didn't have to be.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
He's not on a team. He hasn't signed a contract yet.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
But anyway, Uh, this story, uh is a leeged story,
and you want to be definitive, right, like.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Schwant's just say that he will show.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
Up to campus again and he is playing well, especially
considering that's where you really want to go.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
Especially considering we're kind of still at the point of
where we were when McCarthy got the job. I would
love Aaron Rodgers to come back.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
And it makes only sense because of their history, right,
like he does.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
I mean, but that's why I'm saying this new news
is kind of like what's the news, and that they've
been waiting on him. He wants him, they have history,
like and is he in or not is to me
the thing like is he is he gonna be playing
or not? Because if you say, ooh, the Steels are interested, yeah,
we knew that. We knew that. The Niam McCarthy, you know,
took the job and said, I want my old guy
back and he'd be great. I was watching him and
(26:55):
I think he'd be great with them. So I just think,
you know, it's the same thing for me we've talked about.
I just think it's it's kind of playing it safe
in that you're bringing him back, obviously McCarthy bringing the
old thing back what they had, you know, moons ago.
And there's the same thing with the Steelers in this
weird place in my opinion, where they don't want to
they mentioned it, the owner comes out, it was like,
we're not in a rebuild mold and we're not in that.
(27:17):
It's like okay, But then your whole issue is you're
tired of just being made, You're tired of just winning,
you know, getting in the playoffs. You want to win,
and I'm just like, what, well, you have to You
gotta kind of pull rip that band aid off, you
gotta make hit a hard reset, you gotta advance you
gotta make some moves. And to me, they just keep
playing it safe rather doing the same thing, and they're
gonna it's gonna be the same thing again, maybe nine
(27:39):
and eight, maybe ten and six, maybe eight nine, and
it's just okay, what what are we? What are you
doing with that?
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Yeah, but they don't have a court, there's no quarter
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Draft, but they didn't feel there was a good one
in the draft that they really wanted. And I think
that I just think Mike McCarthy's first year before they
get into that, it's just because if I.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Just wasn't there, I think it would be different.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
They were ten and five when he started game for
them last year, ten and five, so they have that.
The teammates spoke very highly of dealing with Aaron Rodgers,
you know what I mean, Like it wasn't like the
jet situation. Would you agree with that?
Speaker 10 (28:15):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (28:15):
No, better organization exactly. Him and Tomlin were at their bromance, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
For sure, And it was just different.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
And I think that's what made it easier for them
to say, yeah, Mike McCarthy your first year, and then
we could get.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
A quarterback, because that's this will be it. I can't
see it being passed.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
He's in a good position, he being McCarthy that let's
say you're playing right, all right, well just just I
don't know, just get our feet wet, figure this thing out,
and you're bringing them a Aaron Rodgers and let's just
say it doesn't work. Say it's six and eleven. You
win some games, but you lose. He's in a position
where that organization, we know, if you're in, you're in. Now.
He's older. You know, they got Tomlin at like thirty
(28:54):
five or something like that, so obviously he was able
to have a long runway. McCarthy's older now at this point.
But my point is they're not like a team that's
gonna or whatever organization is gonna fire, you like, oh
you were terrible this year, and he's gonna fire. So
he's in a good position where he can try Aaron Rodgers,
see what it does, and then they can say, all right,
let's reset, because they don't like to to just let
(29:14):
people go. We know that the three coaches for eons,
so that's he's in a good position with that. But
to me, I just feel like when we kind of
talked about it, earlier, like there's a there's a chance
to reset, there's a chance to rebuild, there's a chance
to kind of not be good for a year. Two
it's okay, it's okay.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
But I think that that's next year, I really do.
I think that that's so. What's this year?
Speaker 4 (29:34):
Then?
Speaker 1 (29:35):
This year is middling again? Well, but I don't know
making the playoffs that wanted? You say middling. They won
the division like a lot of but but but did
they win a division? But I'm saying that bank Joe Burrow. Okay,
but they won the division. The Ravens had a chance
to beat them and knock them out right and everything,
and they didn't get it done.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
I mean, is that their fault that they missed the
field goal at the end.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
No, Baltimore, and that's why they fired their coach and
that's why they're going in a different direction. All I'm
saying is for for Mike McCarthy and his first year
in Pittsburgh, they probably don't want to throw him out
where he gets off. And if I'm Mike McCarthy, I
feel better about it too. I don't want to be
one in sixteen. I don't or to don't park for
me to extremely because that's how I said eight to
(30:22):
nine and seven, and I don't want to be two
and fifteen. I don't want it now. They won in
sixteen Rock I'm on saying.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
I don't want to be there.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
So I understand why because of their history, it makes sense.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
And he was already there.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
And they look like, uh, Gino and your boy Pete
Carroll when they went to Vegas. They had history. They
came to Vegas, says.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Which covid was Aaron Rodgers already on the team. They
traded for Gino. They bought him. Yeah, but it was different.
Gino wasn't wanted in Seattle, right, they brought in a
new quarterback.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
I just it makes sense this year and that's it.
This is probably it. And Aaron Rodgers, this is it.
Play one more year and he'll be ready to change.
Forty one years old.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
This is it.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
I think this is it, and he wants and he
wants to play one more year, and I think after that,
by that time they'll be able to maybe move up
in the draft, maybe try to do something.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Supposed to be quarterbacks all over the place. You never know.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
I make this coming draft, right, But also, but you
position yourself to get that by not they gotta be
one in sixteen but not man. But you could also
move on because if you're picking some mess around and
be like I said, nine and eight, eight nine something,
you know where it's like now you're the you know,
fifteenth picker, you know something like that, you you might
not get one of those certain teams that just.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
Don't want to do that.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
The Yankees won't hit the reset button and they haven't
won a World Series since two thousand and nine.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
But they refused.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
But the Yankees have the luxury. No, but they But
but I'm saying they can buy guys worse.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Yeah, but I'm still saying like they people could have said,
like eight years ago, why don't you just reset it?
Speaker 3 (31:56):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (31:57):
Why don't you go and develop some players, bring up
some young guys, lose for a cut.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
No, you got Aaron Judge and you got all these people.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
No, we're not doing that. We sell out every night.
We're not doing that. We're going to keep trying to
win year after year. And Pittsburgh fields the same way.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
I just think it's different with the Yankees because you
can buy players and whereas you can. You know, resetting
in baseball is a completely different thing because now you're young,
you got guys coming up from your farm system. It's
a whole thing. You want to have some veteran you
want to bring up. And football you kind of got
to go down a little bit. Get a good pack
draft pick, get a quarterback. So we'll see. And by
the way, after all this, we just said, we don't
(32:31):
even know if he's coming in. Technically to the reporting,
we don't know, all right, Shop Talk, Alex Tease did
said it's something that's gonna be really good. Here. We'll
see what Alex and Robber have cooked up. It is
the eye couple on the TV things on Thursday. Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (32:44):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
We got a game here, sixty nine sixty six third quarter,
Pistons up, three calves sticking around. No. Not a good
game from the stars of the Pistons. I haven't checked
the exact latest, but I know at one point Kate
only had around ten points. You had a Duram with
only five at that point in time. So the stars
and football teams you kind of think would produce haven't
(33:18):
really produced like you would expect. Akaba, Rob and Kelvin
on the TV Things on Thursday. For over forty years,
Tireck has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
for what and for where they drive ship fast and
free back by free road has a protection with convenient
insallation options like mobile tire installation tireq dot com. It
is the way tire buying should be. All right, let's
see what Rob gez and now it's got cooking for
(33:39):
shop talk. Ain't nobody's you know that. Ain't nobody is.
You would talk about whoever, whatever whatever you want to
in the ball so you know it's.
Speaker 5 (33:49):
Shop talk ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Now we
like to go outside of the world of sports because
God knows I like to, and we want to talk
about something that does us a little bit more tantalizing
with the world these stuff going on and may be
even something that's more relatable that has been happening to
all of us. And tonight's topic is something that I'm
sure all of us have experienced and I don't think
we've publicly talked about it, maybe shamed it or enabled it.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
So a situation happened here. We're not going to do names.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
But at a farewell party for somebody, somebody noticed somebody
else double dipping in a community thing that other people
could eat. So, for example, was an onion ring dipped in,
flipped around, and dipped again. So the two questions I
have for you is number one, are you cool with
double dipping? And number two, if not, is it ever acceptable? Okay,
(34:37):
now you go first.
Speaker 4 (34:39):
No, I'm not cool. Yes, it's acceptable. There are times
that it's acceptable, right, I mean if obviously family member, friend,
you know, but just at the party, the function, No,
I'm a pass on the double dips. Brat, you're making
a face. I don't know what you have a double dip? No, no, no,
I don't want your bad breath in your plat, your
(35:00):
teeth or your germs. I'm serious like that. That is disgraceful,
Like what were you doing a lot of people who
are weird, they just don't even think.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
That's that's such your own thing like this, if you
have your own food or whatever.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
I remember one of the kids in the neighborhood.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
What do you used to do?
Speaker 1 (35:14):
Was whenever he had a bag of potato chips and
he didn't want any of us to ask for the chip.
He used to open the bag and blow in them
first and then be like, anybody want any and we'd
all go, nah, I'll pass.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
That was his.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
That was so No. Double dipping is never good, absolutely not.
Don't not even with bo y'all laid up that chair.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
I mean, I'm not talking about I'm talking about except.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
I mean, if you're eating from your spouse or somebody
like sharing something.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
You sound like you still only want that. I don't think.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Something sandwich and in says you want to buy it.
I'm not gonna go like, oh that was in your mouth?
Speaker 4 (36:02):
I mean, we got it, all right, Pause this des
hour been already a little crazy enough copy that rob Okay,
we got it, we got it. Jump in. I'm absolutely not.
I just have no words.
Speaker 10 (36:15):
If you're a communal like event like that, you like,
get the sauce and you pour it on your plate
and then you dip it.
Speaker 4 (36:21):
And so I mean I did it wasn't.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Iowa, Sam, who was I want to know.
Speaker 6 (36:28):
I can see it wasn't a work thing either who knows,
but like you know, you just work.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
Okay, well, okay, give me all the names. You don't
have to tell me who what I want to I
want to guess.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
We will send you a picture everyone who was at
the party.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
And so you can't wait, can't wait?
Speaker 10 (36:40):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (36:40):
Anyways, hell no, heck, no, no.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
Way, Robbie.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
No, that's a big no for me.
Speaker 6 (36:45):
Dog. But what I'm going to do, because I am
a habitual double and triple quadruple dipper, I'm gonna buy
my own ranch or whatever sauce it is. I'm gonna
have it in front of me. I don't care if
I look like a jerk because I'm hogging it all
because I'm gonna.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Try to that.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
But that's fine, exactly.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
I'm a saucer. I'm not paying it five cents. But
I get you. Yeah, I'm a saucer.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
See, I'm a little like just flap flabberg acid at
the fact somebody would think that flipping it around makes.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
It better than me.
Speaker 6 (37:16):
I didn't get it on.
Speaker 5 (37:17):
Think about it, like, you're not even taking in the
whole concept. Your hand was over the whole than I'd
rather your mouth be in the dip rather than your
hand at that pain.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Don't forget what's that the bite The saliva could have
dripped down on the other.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
Side of the so to me, like, but I could
have You're right, But it's just this conversation you.
Speaker 5 (37:37):
See, like a shout outs to Ricky because he's the
one that brought me up for the discussion. He's like,
this is the microcosm problem with humanity and why we're
stuck in these turmoil things because people don't think of
these small things that lead to grander concepts, Like you
have no concept to think other people are going to
eat this food. You just say, oh, I like that.
I want more, Like what.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Do you think? We are more aware of this now
than historically because I feel like in other culture is
communally like they just ate, like you just everybody to
eat and just we're all together. We're just we're all eating,
and I feel like didn't have napkins again, especially post COVID,
I feel like we're all much more aware of this.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
Real quick read this is what I mean. Dudes, Historically,
I feel like dudes didn't think about yo, bro just
doing the thing, eating and just grabbing and I feel
like we become much more inclined to be like, hey,
what's going on. I'll get my own, like you said,
because you wash your hands.
Speaker 5 (38:32):
There aren't certain cultures where they do eat with food.
I know there was a Nigerian place I went here.
It's all handful, it's all hand just grabbing food. I
love it, but it's a company thing, and it's like, bro,
it's like you want to put your best foot forward
and you're just like your howm you're at home?
Speaker 4 (38:46):
I don't know drinks.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
I'm gonna be honest, Even before COVID, I'm dead serious.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
I always wiped off the door knobs.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
I always did all of that even before that, because
I knew that I never flushed a toilet in a
public place.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
I did.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
That's why you don't sit on anthing. You do, but
you bear teake them though,
