Host of The Pull Up with scoop By.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
We'll talk with him as well, a lot of stuff
to get to and also a little shop talk a
little later on in this Uh who came up with
this shop talk?
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Was this rock Robin.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
Yeah, we've been sitting on this one since that day. Man,
we said we got to save this for next week.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
It makes sense. It's it's very weird, and we'll get
to it. But when you can, when you go on
and you can't order what you want, they're going to
tell you what to order.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
Yeah, it's getting a little while. We'll break that down
a little bit. That'll be fun.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yes, and okay, So the Spurs lose Game one at home.
Obviously you don't want to lose.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
You want to hold I was gonna say, I was
gonna set you up.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:08):
Look the Spurs obviously a tough seven game series, but
the young Bucks triumph. They get in the game one
at home, they look good. We talked about it earlier
to get it going and get up fourteen. They faltered. Uh,
this team breaks kind of the mold.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Of young too young.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
It's like they're dumb enough to think, hey, we don't
know the rules, we're supposed to win. But they ended
up closing not closing the game, right. But you, my friend,
you ain't worried.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
No, not at all, and a couple things.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
I always look at it because there's a combination of stuff.
First of all, they weren't able to build the lead.
It one like they got run out of their own building.
They got run out of their building and they were
playing you know what I mean. Then you say, oh
my god, I don't know if they can do anything
or match up here. The other thing, I look at
six for twenty one for wim Beat. That's not gonna
(02:59):
happen and uh, every night, you know what I mean,
He's gonna have some clunkers and we know that we've
seen it and they still win series when he plays well.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
And Mark Starin brought it up.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
He does.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
He's very good at bouncing back from bad performances. He does,
he really does. And they'll work on some stuff. And
also dearon Fox just didn't play well, like like, there's
room for improvement on this team. And again normally he
would say a young team. Oh, they demoralized what they've
(03:31):
been down, they've been out, they lost game what was
it five?
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Five? At home?
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Wasn't it that at home? And then they went to okay,
see right? Or is it the other way around? No,
they won game I was thinking about the Cavs winning
Game five and Detroit and then seven, but they went
they won, No, but doesn't matter. They still were down
and they had to win and then they would know
they were down. And they won the last two games, right, Yes,
they won at home Game six, and then they won
(04:00):
Game seven on the road. And my point is they're resilient.
They wouldn't be in this spot. They haven't swept anybody.
They haven't been running away and you know what I mean,
and hiding from people. They've had to grind out these
wins and sometimes that it's okay and you can look
at it. No excuses they lost the game. I'm not
all into that. But they got off to a good start,
(04:21):
right with the adrenaline. They had a seven game series,
dramatic all that the Knicks were rushed in, they were home,
they were fresher at the end, you know, they just were.
And it doesn't mean that that automatically meant they were
going to win and come back or whatever, but I
think that that helped in that standpoint. Now that they've
got their legs, the series is started, you know what
(04:42):
I mean, they'll have the off day and they'll have
a chance to come back. Things that did not go right,
they'll be able to look at and correct. And I
just wonder, like pushing through once the Knicks lose that
one game, you know what I mean, Like, what could happen?
Like that's the Spurs, you know what I mean? Like,
(05:03):
you go, we built a fourteen point lead, we were
playing well. We talked about him, We watched the first half.
We were we were impressed every time the Knicks made
a little run. They finished out the half nice. They
were up by seven. Yeah, winby. Winby was only two
for nine in the first half, right, and they still
were leading. I haven't brought that up to you. I said,
he hadn't even played well. I didn't know he's going
(05:24):
to finish you know, four for sixteen or whatever it
was after that?
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Oh, you know what I mean. So it was bad.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
But when you can always take a look at it
and go if Wimby had a big game, cause against
the Knicks this year averaged twenty eight and thirteen, right,
that was the number. If he had that and played well,
you know, played well, and they lost at home, then
I say you have to feel like, what did you
gotta do?
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Score forty and forty one and twenty four.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
The only pushback I have, well, I mean a couple
other thoughts, but is the weird part is he did
have those numbers. It's just they were hollow numbers, like
he ended up with what twenty six, twenty eight, But
it was a bad.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
No, no, But they beat they beat the Nicks in
those games, I'm thinking, right.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
But I'm talking about last night because he got all
those free throws. Remember he was like twelve or thirteen
from the free throw line, so you know, you look
at it and you're like, okay, well if you just
looked at the.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Box, now, six for twenty one is awful.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
That's what I'm saying. So I'm agree with what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
But he did end up with numbers, but they were
bad numbers or hollow numbers because he turned the ball over.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
He had only two assist but he had six turnovers.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
You know, he shot, as you mentioned, very inefficient, and
to be honest, he just looked a little lost out there,
which we don't often see from him. He looked again
Karlthony Towns presented a new problem for him of well,
the way do I go guard him up?
Speaker 4 (06:50):
You know, from thirty feet from the basket, because I
like to roll them.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
I like to pray free safety and block shots and
change shots.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
But he can't do that with Karlton Town.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
So I do expect adjustments there, what I thought, and
in what is challenging for Mitch Johnson to coach and
for the Spurs they still because they're still new, like
this is their first go at it.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
New guys.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
You know, guys are just really getting to flow in
the heat of the real battle, in the playoff battle,
they're figuring out lineups. And I didn't like rob that
they took out Dylan Harper. The last four plus minutes.
He had been other than Winby the most well and
not Winby, but Wemby is Whitby, meaning you're not taking
him out. He been the most consistent. He had been
(07:32):
the ones driving for us, getting to the hole, making shots,
making threes, making crazy lamps. I'm like, yo, this kid
is nice and for some reason, I guess, you know,
again you're trying to have your your perfect starting lineup,
but hey, this kid is cooking. And they took him
out with four and a half. So that was one
of the Mitch shots. I think he'd rather. He want
to have that back. That Yo, he's playing well. And
(07:53):
I know they didn't start this game, but daggid, I'm
about to close this game.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
A lah somebody else.
Speaker 5 (07:57):
They came off the bench that was left handed back
in the day, Michoble.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
So I would do that. The key to me.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
Is gonna be the Aaron Fox, because Winby's gonna bounce back.
Winby's gonna have a game, and it'll have another game
he'll want to have back.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
You know, it wasn't his best, but I expect that.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
But if the Aaron Fox can't be, a closer, can't
be the veteran, can't settle them and get them a
bucket when they need it, because everybody else robbed. For
the most part, they kind of stay outside, right Visale.
I want to shoot threes, Champagne. Champagne, who was fantastic
that first half. He was five or six from three.
He wants to shoot the three.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
You know, Kelton Johnson can get down low too, but
he also wants to shoot the three, and so on
and so forth. But you got a guy who can
get in the paint, hit the mid range, get to
the hole, draw some files and the Aaron Fox, if he,
to me, is gonna be the key to this series.
Rob Winby's gonna win be from.
Speaker 6 (08:51):
Game to game.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
I expect them to have three more good games and
maybe a bad one here. But if the Aaron Fox
can't be that guy that can go to say, hey, retired,
this ain't working, we need a bucket from you, then
I think it's gonna be along that because that's the
one thing that the Knicks have. They can say, Carlton
Town's stuff ain't working, we're a little broken. Go get
(09:13):
us one. Jalen Bruntson retired is fourth quarter, three minutes.
Let go get us one. And Webby's still trying to
find out where he's best suited for that and is
it out front at the top dribbling, is it down low?
He's not figured that out yet. Like where my spots are?
You know, you hear me talk about that all the time.
Jaylen Brunton knows exactly where his spots are, Carlton Towns
(09:33):
knows exactly where his spots are. Even og is starting
to really understand where his spots are. I don't know
that the Spurs have those guys quite yet. They're so young,
except for Daron Fox. So to me, he's gonna be key.
If he comes up big, they can really prolong this series.
But if he's just gonna be men or just he's
out there, he's okay, I don't think they'll have enough
firepower to keep up.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Yeah, I just think you gotta again, you gotta be
real careful in the NBA. One game doesn't mean anything.
I've seen it. I've covered it way too long. The
Spurs didn't get here by accident. They they belong, you
know what I mean. They went through the Champs one
of game seven on the road. They belong, and they
(10:17):
did it convincingly to where you felt like, wow, that
was pretty impressive considering what they were up against.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
And I think the.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Things that did not work whinn'b be turning the ball
over a poor shooting night. You know, there's stuff that
you can clean up. And that's what where coaching comes in,
you know what I mean, Like like to be able
to take a look at what happened, figure out what
we gotta do here to get this back right, not
rely on you know this, When threes on going and
you just chucking them up, that's how other teams get
(10:48):
you know a race leads.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
They only hit two.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
That was interesting, and if I'm the Knicks, I don't
expect that again, they were on fire, Sam PEGGI, Yeah,
but they only hit two the entire second half.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
That's what That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
And that's how you ask how do you give up
a thirteen point lead? Fourteen point league? That's how you
don't make any three easy. The other team gets the
long rebounds to get easy baskets down the other and transition.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
You know what I mean that That that's.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Why the Celtics. We talk about the Celtics. Hey, it's
a game seven right against Philadelphia.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
I don't know you finished.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
You finished zero for nine from three point. You're not
going to win a game you lost.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
You miss your last nine shots, You're not You're not
going to win a game.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
That that's how it works.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
You know what I watched too, And I think this
is gonna be the challenge for Winby over the summer
and over the next I think course of two years.
He's so good, he's so young, he's still believe it
or not, he's still raw. I think you get what
I mean by that. It's finding that like it's almost
two talented, two gifted rob He's the only that tall
(11:55):
guy we've seen bring the ball up like a point
guard and kay yeah yah yah cross somebody over right,
And I think that's nasty if he's nasty out there,
But then he's.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
The only guy who's huge and can get it down.
Speaker 5 (12:06):
But then he's also can get to his MIDI so
I think he's gonna have to really mature and find
I know I can, I know I can, I know
I can.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
But this is really where my sweet spot is, you
know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
We talked to get a jump puck cross the middle
getting a nice fatal off the glass. I locked him
Duncan or something. He's gonna have to like because he
has so many options in his bag. I think he's
kind of like, which one do I go to? You
know what I mean. He's got to kind of almost
limit himself in a good way because these are my
two three moves and get to my spots to get
to to get a.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Bucket all right?
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Coming up next on the Odd Couple have a special
guest in studio, Brandon Scoop b Robinson, of course, the
NBA insider host of the Pull Up with Scoop be
we're gonna do that. Coming up, we'll talk to him
a little bit. Kelvin just diving a little bit more
on some NBA stuff and of course the finals and whatnot.
Speaker 5 (12:54):
You know, he gets Scoopy for nothing. He get to
skim me getting the scoops since he was ten.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
I remember remember those days, right with the nets and whatnot.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
So that since Moby Dick was a guppy.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
That's right, he's been around the NBA game. Since Moby
Dick was a guppy. It's been a long time.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Everybody, take a shot. There you go every time? All right,
you're hitting joy.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
So it is the odd couple stand by. Coming up next, Scoopy.
We'll dive into more and the NBA stuff with him
and more. It is the odd couple on a TV
theme song Thursday, Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington, right here on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
And you know what you need to do?
Speaker 7 (13:35):
What's that stick and stay? Especially if your favorite Scoop
is be in the us of A.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
There you go, Oh, I like that?
Speaker 5 (13:43):
All right, let me talk about this real quick. This
is Calshi, the world's biggest soccer tournament. We know it's
a ride and you can trade the entire tournament on CAWSI.
Now on Calshi, you can trade every match from the
opening stage all the way to the finals. So you
know me, listen, I love an underdog story. I'm all
about that because we know, picking a favorite really is
too easy, so riding with the long shot is just
(14:04):
more fun and you can make a couple more bucks.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
So with that in mind, I want you to think
about this one. Check it out.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Mexico currently trading at just one point three percent to
win it all, meaning a one hundred dollars trade pays
out over seven thousand, one hundred dollars if they win
soccer's biggest prize.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
So Mexico is going to be well represented.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
You know that with the games being here in the
United States, there's gonna be plenty of Mexican Americans, Mexican
fans who are going to be.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
There supporting them, cheering them on.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
So it wouldn't shock be all to see them make
a deep run in the attorney. So on Calshi, you're
trading against peers in a live market, meaning there's no
house nope, and there's the probability changes that you can
buy in and out of your position. So for a
limited time, all you got to do is download the
Calshi app and use the code odd which is O
d D to get ten dollars when you trade ten
(14:53):
Calshie ka l Shi Calshie trade on anything, and by
the way, I mean anything, including your favorite songs. Who's
gonna get streamed the most when it comes to music?
All of that is on Calchi. It's a fun time.
Go check it out.

real quick before we just tell it a little bit,
you know, for folks can be more.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
Who aren't familiar with all the great stuff you do.
Speaker 9 (17:24):
My mother named me Brandon, but professionally I go by
Brandon Scoopy Robinson. I've been in the industry since I
was twelve years old. Started in nineteen ninety seven working
for the then New Jersey Nets so Kendall, Gil Jason Williams,
Sam Cassel's eventually Stephan Marlbury and starting radio as their
kids radio host back then, and have continued on this
journey running to guys like you. Rob been everywhere from
Ballet Sports Network now is Famalue Sports Network written all
(17:47):
over the place, and now I have my own independent
enterprise called Scoopy Enterprises, where Scoopy Dot com is where
I drop a lot of exclusive stories. I just celebrated
ten years with the Scoopy Radio podcast. We just ended
it and then we transitioned to the pull up with Scoopy.
We dropped the first episode last month and episode two
actually drops June twenty fifth.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
All right, who's on that? Who's on the second one?
Antwine Walker? Okay?
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Oh, nice twan out there.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
I like that man, Well, he got it together. He's
been through a hell.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Man, I just hell. When you talk about the kind
of money he made and then lost, like, it's just
mind bog.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
And we talk about that in depth.
Speaker 9 (18:24):
You can actually subscribe to my YouTube channel, Scoopye on
YouTube and be looking out for that twelve pm Eastern
time on the twenty fifth of June. First episode was
actually with Kendall Gill started my career being around that team.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
I covered the New Jersey Nets for the Daily News,
so I was there before, right, what were you there
from ninety seven to ninety nine? Yeah, I covered the
team before that. I covered the team eighty eight, eighty eight,
ninety eighty seven, eighty eight, ninety so I was question what.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Was it like?
Speaker 9 (18:56):
Because you, of course you knew the Nets didn't have
a practice facility back then. They they worked out a
trucking facility.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
At a trucking facilities gym, like in Piscataway, New Jersey,
or somewhere.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Cray.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Yeah, that's where I'm telling the NBA was different back
then because I used to travel. I've told Kevin this
one thousand times. When I was covering the NBA, the players,
we all flew commercial and I would sit next to
whoever Roy Henson, Sam Bowie on the flight, Tate George, yeah,
Tate Jo, all those guys, Chris Morris, Yeah, all those
(19:27):
guys on the plane. And the thing was it didn't
go by star status. Veterans set in first class and
you could have been a big you know, uh, draft
pick number one pick, Dennis Hopton or you know, top pick,
oh that got and you would sit in the back
and coach because they weren't enough seats for everybody. That's
kind of in line with when the Vet's put popcorn
(19:50):
in rookies cars and they gotta fetch donuts.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
It's just those days are over.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
Yeah, these kids they're coming in in title now, Yeah, school,
they're coming in our already five to ten million in
these kids are getting three if you're ANIL kid right
now coming in.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
But they still do it.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
I'll say, I don't know what they do in the
NBA like at like before, but even in baseball they
still make these guys you know this, Kelvin they dress up.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
In certain outfits on all that on a road trip
or they still do that in baseball initiation, which is fun.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
Yeah, no, it is.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
It's fun school. Let's get into last night Game one
NBA Finals. The Knicks able to come back end up
with I think it was a ten point victory for them. Obviously,
Jalen Brunson does what Brunson does. He was mister clush
last year. SGA won it this year.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
But Brunton say, hey, hold my beer, let me go
remind him, what do you making the game one?
Speaker 5 (20:43):
You could say, hey, the Spurs won't play as bad.
Other you could just say that's now twelve in a
row for the Knicks, and clearly maybe this is just
who they are.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
I look at it dually.
Speaker 9 (20:52):
I Number one, I note that the popular conversation is
that the Knicks came back in the second half, but
really they came back in the third quarter and the
fourth quarter was just theirs. I really look at the
Spurs situation, Wemby scoring sixteen points to me wasn't enough.
Dylan Harper rose to the occasion, and Chimpagne did his thing.
But I think the part that gets lost in translation
(21:15):
with the Knicks and particularly Brunton, is the performance that
Karl Anthony Towns had. I mean those twelve rebounds and
then the fact that Hart was hauling down rebounds and
the fact that you had so many other guys. It's
not just Brunton, it's a collective group that's been really
fun to watch this season.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Yeah, I mean there's a lot of stuff there and
they've played really well. When you win twelve games in
a row, a lot of stuff has to happen, and
of course you get a lot of contributions from a
lot of people.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
But it's going to be interesting. The Spurs have been
able to bounce back.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Wemby is famous for so far bouncing back, coming up
with big games and big situations. I just expect a
different game from him, not six for twenty one, and
I'm going to predict that Carl Anthony Towns will there
will be a couple of whistles push them off on
and be a little I mean, but that's that's that's
not just in this case. I've seen it my whole time.
(22:08):
You know, this covering the NBA, and you know it's interesting.
It's a it's a it's the best of seven series.
I mean in college, I remember playing Connect for and
I remember the first two moves that the opponents make.
You're feeling out the other opponent, the Knicks one, you know,
the first draw. But I don't think that that that
is indicative upon a whole series. When you look at
(22:29):
the San Antonio Spurs, they beat the reigning NBA champions.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
You look at seven games on the road, right exactly.
Speaker 9 (22:37):
Yeah, and they're a young squad. I don't even think
they are who they're supposed to be. Throughout the course
of the season, I felt that the Spurs were a
Draymond Green type of player, away like a vet from
making it and winning it.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
So wait a minute, they needed a bad podcast in
order to win a championship.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
Listen, I'm not trying to get no phone calls. That's
you not mean. However, this is I think to get
Scoop trying to get choked out.
Speaker 9 (23:03):
You know, Listen, I'm out I'm outside, okay, but but
I do think that when you look at the Spurs organization,
Mitch Johnson, their head coach is literally Luke Skywalker and
he's got Yoda up in the stands and Greg Popovich.
I think the national audience is still getting used to
who he is, and I think that that economy of
(23:24):
the Spurs at large is less familiar. People know Weimby.
I think when you look at the Knicks, you know Brunson.
I think what I'm going to enjoy about this best
the seventh series is getting to know the rest of
the guys.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
All right, that's a good point.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
We're gonna help I was gonna say, Kelvin, and we're
gonna get into some more NBA stuff, uh and whatnot
after we get in up there, go ahead, Keivin.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
That's right, Scoop sticking around with us.
Speaker 5 (23:48):
Don't forgive We got shop talk coming up as well
right now, Mancis.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Fellas Scoop, do you mean that?
Speaker 9 (23:56):
I think it's kind of a balance. It's funny he's
so young. I was with him last week. There was
a trending topic on Twitter where I said, Yo, do
you know that people are saying that you look like
John Amos. He looks at me and goes, John Amos,
who is that? And then goes the guy from Coming
to America. He goes, what's that?
Speaker 3 (24:13):
I felt old? I felt old?
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Onoo, now I know we might be old and I'm
older than you.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Yeah, but dag it.
Speaker 5 (24:20):
He's got to know coming to him as a black
person in America, when you come out the when you
come out to Mama's womb, the doctor smashs you the
booty and then the first thing he does is make
you watch him into America.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
The boy got his own money.
Speaker 5 (24:33):
When I say the boy got his own money, the
boy has got his own money.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
But there are reruns. Oh my god, you don't have
to be alive. They're reruns. People don't watch reruns. All
you gotta do is play this, and he would know who.
John Amos says, that's a good point.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
I'm all right, come on, Well depends though, Rob Rob
depends on the season.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
He might be dead, you know, and it killed him off.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
That was one of those TV moments that was that
was a great show. When that first started off, it
really was like people. That was like and I remember
the significance of that show. And I'm gonna say this
because it did strike a lot of shows back then.
The father was always absentee on all black shows, and
(25:22):
this was the one. I think, uh uh, that's the role,
you know, demanded that they have a father on the show,
you know what I mean. And even in the case
he's the father there, he was there, strong father, but
of course he could barely take care of his family.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
He's working at the car wash, so they gonna be huxtable,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
But he was there, and that was a really good show,
living in the projects and all that a lot of
people could relate to.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
That.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
They really did give us some some scoop, be some
information on the off season.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
I know where the finals are going on, but anything
that we should be looking for players moving on, Trey,
any kind of things may be happening, or.
Speaker 9 (26:05):
We're in Los Angeles. Okay, So Lebron James, let's start, yeah, perfect, perfect.
The Lakers can offer him the most money, however, and
don't want to. There you go, they do not want to.
You filled in the blank for me. And so if
you look at an alternate team. The conversations that I've
been having about the Cleveland Cavaliers is something that is realistic.
(26:25):
In order for that to happen, there are some mathematics
that have to make sense from sources around the league.
First of all, James Harden is going to have to
restructure that deal, and I'm told that Lebron James doesn't
necessarily want to sign a max extension with the Cavaliers.
In fact, he would take less money to come back home.
But in order for that to also happen, the Cavaliers
are hoping that he takes some type of mid level
(26:47):
exception one and two that he completes a sign and
trade with the Los Angeles Lakers in order to make
that happen, so you would have to move a Jared
Allen on others. However, in order to add more to
that pot Dean Wade or as well as Max Struce
would have to potentially be moved as well. So those
are some of the things that I'm hearing as far
as the cleveand Cavaliers also, they currently have a vacant
(27:09):
GM position out there, and Brandon Wims, who is currently
the assistant GM, is a guy who grew up with
Lebron James and Akron. He is a guy that is
one of the candidates. In that conversation, they're talking about
staying internal. However, one thing that I am hearing is
that the Cavaliers are entertaining a conversation of potentially talking
to David Griffin about that GM position as well.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Yes, now the commissioner spoke on it about the Clippers
investigation with Kawhi and that phony company that went under
or whatever and stole everybody's money, and he said, yeah,
we need to wrap this up soon, like the league.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Hello, I don't I don't even I don't know if
I really trust the.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
League's investigation because they cleared Terry Rojier right like seriously,
and now not only is he indicted, now another one
came down, you know what I mean. So I don't
know what's happening here.
Speaker 9 (28:06):
Typically when the league is having the finals or the
All Star Game, you're not gonna see announcements coming.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
No, not then I agree with that.
Speaker 9 (28:14):
I foresee this has been going on all year. I mean, respectfully,
I think pabulatory. I kind of already told you what happened.
I think it's more about the formalities of it. I
expect that conversation to take place shortly after the finals
are over.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
And what are you hearing? You have any kind of insight?
This is this because I don't see them. Steve Balmer
is so rich. I don't see some real bad I know,
I just I don't see it.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
Now.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
If you tell me you're gonna throw a hammer at
him and make him sell a team or do something.
Speaker 9 (28:45):
I don't not buying any of that conversations that I've had,
I've not heard anything that suggests that they would make
him sell the team. You've kind of had this controversy
already with the Los Angeles Clippers, specifically with a former owner.
I do think that that if a punishment is handed down,
it's more of a fine, don't I don't see if
they if those findings suggest on their end that something happens.
(29:07):
But I do think it's interesting that while we're talking
about the Clippers, and we're talking about that investigation, conversations
about Kawhi Leonard's future have also been brought up. And
to me, if he leaves the Clippers and goes elsewhere,
you kind of have a wiggle room to sweep it
(29:27):
under the rug. If you're looking at an optics perspective,
he leaves, they find him, you go about your business.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
That's a good point.
Speaker 5 (29:34):
I was just gonna say, you find somebody who has
more money than anybody you know except maybe five other people,
and so you find them, Hey here fifteen million dollar fine,
That ain't nothing for him. No, and then also, like
you mentioned, Kawhi is gone, there's a non starter. And
not to mention even with Kawhi's here, it's a non start.
Kawh I don't talk.
Speaker 4 (29:52):
You don't say anything.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Kawhi doesn't have to talk because he has the greatest
laugh in the history of man, Right, Alex, Kawhi didn't
have to.
Speaker 10 (30:04):
I'm a fun guy, obviously, I love the game of basketball.
I mean, it's just more question you have to ask
me in order for me to tell you about myself.
I just can't give you a whole spill. I don't
even know where you're sitting at.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
That's the al talk.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
The first time I heard that laugh, I've replayed in
a thousand I was like, dude, I couldn't believe.
Speaker 5 (30:27):
It's awkward, the greatest it's awkward because the man had
won at that point two rings, and we realized that
that we had no never.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
Heard her talk right, I'm a fun guy.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
I'm a fun guy. Just saying he's a fun guy.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
Imagine trying to be on the date. Scoop probably get
on the phone. So what's up? You know, like, tell me,
let me more about yourself.
Speaker 10 (30:48):
I'm a fun guy.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
I don't think she's gonna want to hang with you
when you say that.
Speaker 9 (30:52):
No, imagine the world though. Let me ask you a question,
says goes to Miami. Imagine a world with Norman Powell
and Kawhi Leonard reunited Miami alongside bam Adebayo.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
What do you think of that?
Speaker 4 (31:06):
Wait? What did I have to give up? Though? Tyler
Hero and some picts or something.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
But there's got to be something right picks.
Speaker 9 (31:14):
Currently, from folks that I've spoken with around the league,
Jannie is leaning towards the Miami Heat.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
I'm hearing that.
Speaker 9 (31:22):
Yes, Portland was a conversation, I can tell you. And
at one point Orlando and Milwaukee we're having a conversation
potentially about swapping Pallo as well as Jiannis. But from
my conversations with folks in the league, Jannis and the Heat.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
All right, one last thing, because we got brother, one
last thing. Thirty seconds the Pistons. Everybody saw what they
were exposed, but not having shooting. Is there anybody out
there that because they need a shooter desperately?
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Anything?
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (31:51):
Right, I'll tell you somebody that I think fits. Okay,
go ahead, I think Kyrie Irving would fit in Detroit.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
Oh okay, all right, Scoop, I mean we got to
run here.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
We appreciate you coming through the studio here in Los
Angeles and being on the so happing to sirt.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
Hey appreciate you, man.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
I'm glad.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
I'm glad you been able to be able to make
it happen. All right, make sure you give a follow, Scoop.
Be on social media, shop talk on the way. We
got some interesting because Rob went through it last week.
We'll explain what it is.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
I'm always going through it.
Speaker 5 (32:21):
Yeah, on the TV things on Thursday. Stick with you boys,
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
I just can't give you a whole spill spiel.
Speaker 6 (32:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 5 (32:45):
Me Rob when he and you gotta feel me on
this losing makes you want to do this. We go, okay,
I get that, I understand that.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
Well. Last quickly I was gonna say, don't.
Speaker 5 (32:55):
Yeah, we got this real quick once he started with
the team like, oh, they're on a tank and I
want to get a lawsuit and legality into it. That's
when I think it's just I think that where we
got to sever not just we have a disagreement about
how we're playing and things like that. But we'll talking
about that as as the NBA's offseason rolls along all right.
By the way, for over forty years, tire Reck's been
helping customers find the right tires for how, for what,
(33:17):
for where they drive ship fast and free back by
free Road has a protection with convenient insulation options like
mobile tire installation. Tirec dot Com its the way tire
byings should be. It is now time for shop talk.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
Ain't nobody ain't snipping the bumps? Shop you know that?
Ain't nobody you were talking about? Whoever, whatever, whatever you
want you in the boss.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
Shop talk?
Speaker 5 (33:39):
All right, It is time for shop talk, where we
cook up something that has nothing to do with sports.
And this one is brought to you by no other
than Robert Jedediah Jenkins Parker the third.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
And this was was it last week? I believe it.
Speaker 5 (33:51):
Rob's when you came in the studio and you told us, Man,
I'm trying to order something and I keep selecting the
right size, but Amazon keeps switching to tell us more
about it.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
Yeah, I was.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
Trying sometime with the dress shirts, right, I'm not wearing
I wanted to get a two X just because for
the neck sometimes, you know what I mean, Like, I'm
not you know, Kelvin, you don't wear ties all the
time like you used to, so I don't have to
have it like all the way tight at my neck.
So I put a two X into my bath my
cart and I'm trying to check out and when I
(34:22):
check out, I look at the size I always check
to make sure, and it says XCEL instead of two XL.
So I emptied the cart. I go and I order
another two XL, put it in the cart, go to
check out, and there's an EXCEL in the cart again, right,
And I'm like, well, I know I put a two
XL in the car. Why do they keep switching the
(34:45):
size is on me? And then an AI thing message
pops up and it says basically that you always order
an XL and and that's your right size.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
What are you doing to order it? Excel?
Speaker 4 (35:02):
Yo?
Speaker 5 (35:02):
I could be buying for somebody else and that's where
this AI stuff is getting. The only AI I really
wanted to acknowledge was Allen Iverson. Okay, this is getting weird,
is getting strange? Man talking about like that twice? Nah, baby,
you always order extualized. I'm trying to say, I get
some trouble, baby.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
What do you mean? AI?
Speaker 10 (35:20):
Right?
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Like they don't want me to have to return it
or something? Manti, have you ever put a two Excel
in my card?
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Why? Why won't they let me buy a two XL?
Speaker 1 (35:29):
That's so annoying?
Speaker 3 (35:29):
That would drive me crazy? I mean, like, am I crazy?
Did am I losing my door?
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (35:34):
No, there's no way. You didn't feel like that stupid
for a second. And they even realized that that's why Alex.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
The AI message popped up because they probably saw me
trying to cancel your order every time and then try
to order another XL.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Have you had this a problem or not necessarily like that?
Speaker 4 (35:52):
But I believe it.
Speaker 7 (35:53):
My biggest issue in these like self checkout grocery stores
now because they go above and beyond to be like, oh,
excuse me, it looked like you place something something else
and didn't pay for this silence.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Meanwhile, somebody else is walking out with a car to
the stuff right.
Speaker 7 (36:08):
Where's the lion?
Speaker 4 (36:09):
Crazy crimes? The last two that's crazy.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
I saw some like twenty year olds walk in five
minutes later come running out rot with arms full of liquor.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
And they just were like, hey stop, I seen somebody that.
Speaker 5 (36:24):
Talking to somebody at CVS, I said, many, y'all still
got the deoderant locked up.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
You know, you got to go press the button for
them to open it up. They said, Man, people, I said,
they still don't like that.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
They still deoderant the oorder.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
It's a big I don't I don't know what the
black market is for it or whatever, but they have
to lock up the odor.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
Oh yes. And the lady told me why. She said
it's too expensive. And she said, and you know what, sir,
I don't blame him. She was like, it's hard out here.
Twelve dollars deoderan.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (36:51):
And one guy said rob that they grabbed trash bags
in the store. They grab a box of trash bags,
open it up, walk through still because he knows once
he steps foot outside.
Speaker 4 (36:59):
Of the store they can't do anything to him legally,
so he just runs.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
I've seen him do stuff like they can if they
really want to. I've seen them chase people out out the.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Door, just Goorler getting involved, not the people working. People
are standing by and watching it.
Speaker 5 (37:12):
Yeah, more of the story is the only AI we recognized.
Alan Ivers, let me buy what I want. Let me
buy a two axel, sure of it. Jordan jumping in
the mix with the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
By the way,
