Speaker 2 (00:19):
Let's get this, buddies, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
It is The Odd Couple. Kevin Washington, Rob g and
for Rob out there in Detroit or who knows where
he is? Now? You know how he is? Oh god,
I got a flight for twenty five dollars and then
now he's in some other city. I don't know. I'm
made a stop over in Connecticut exactly, so I don't
know where he got the press box. Assuming he's in Detroit,
but he could be anywhere. It's a funky flashback. Friday,

(00:47):
Sean King is going to join his bottom of the hour,
we'll talk to him NFL headline is always good to
hear what the King has to say about what's going
on in the NFL. Then next hour we'll talk to
Lamar Mitchell bet MGM, director of Training. We'll also do
our NFL picks here and pick off where I need
to just time, I might need to call it.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
And Rob sent his picks. I just show him to
you so you can go to the opposite try to
make up some ground because you need to.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah, I need to. I might have to look and
see how crazy his are before I do that.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
If you look at the games we're gonna be picking,
I guarantee you can tell which one is Rob gonna
pick without even knowing, like what the spread is.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
So that means there's Steelers, Ravens. He's going Steelers, I
mean Ravens.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Lamar.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Well, that's a tough one though, because it's his Aaron Ooh,
that's just you know what that's called. That's the boobo Alex.
Who is he gonna choose Lamar Jackson or Aaron Rodgers?
That is you talk about a conundrum for Rob Parker.
Those are his two booths.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
Aaron Rodgers Always I would disagree.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
I would disagree only because Lamar is the better player.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Now, now, yes, doesn't it's an easier train to get
on right?

Speaker 5 (01:53):
You have a word for you that Rob Parker loves.
It's called a stick. Yeah, that are does he love
black quarterbacks? For a mistake that everyone it's called Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
That's true.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
How many fights in him were start get over just
because of the name Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
All right here Colts Jaggs, Colts Jags, Oh definitely Jacks okay, yeah,
because he hates Daniel.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
And you'll find out in the past about an hour.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Yeah, that's that's good team. They want to get too far. Yeah, yeah,
this's good teas all right, by the way, checking the teas,
and we got talking about games that are coming up,
and we got some good ones.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
We got some good games that people are going to
be looking at. A lot of playoff complications.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Yeah. And one game that ain't got nothing to do
with the playoff. No playoff playoff suck is the Cleveland
Browns and the Tennessee Titans. Man, you talk about you know,
jay Z has a line it was all good just
a week ago. Well if you say it was all
good like six months ago when cam Ward and Chadure,
you know, they're the big talks a little bit longer

(02:51):
than that, but they were.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
The talk of the town. Who's gonna go you know
one who will be the first quarterback?

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Chosse It's gonna be Cam, all right, well, Shouder, I
think I should go first. And they were hanging out,
they were working out together, and it was kind of fun.
If you followed them on social they talked mixmack to
each other to the point where if you didn't pay attention,
you almost thought they were like for real beefing. But
it was just good, all in good fun and good love.
And who's gonna be the better quarterback? Well, now they're
actually gonna be meeting up this week, and let's just

(03:16):
call it. What is Both teams are bad? You and
I were talking earlier during the draft process. I can't
think of a bigger we know, the most important position
as a quarterback. I can't think of a quarterback who
was going number one who we just did not talk about.
Either way, bad are good, just like, oh he's gonna
be number one, Good for him? And we went straight

(03:36):
to the schedure. We went straight to these are another quarterback?
We went straight to other players. We went just other
topic or teams at large, what are they gonna do?
We didn't talk about Camworf most of the season, the
draft process, getting drafted, and even this season, he hasn't
his team hasn't performed well. Obviously they're not having a
great season, but it's like they're one and eleven. The

(03:58):
Browns are three nine, and I think part of that
they're gonna pick first again, right And I think part
of the reason why Rob g' is because Tennessee's been
so bad. They let Rabel go when I think a
lot of people are like, let Rabel go. Will Levis
was so horrid, they just moved on. We literally never
talked about will Leves again. I think I'm just the
first person to bring up Will Levis.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
They talking about his girlfriend more than him, I think exactly.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
And I think people have seen enough good throws, good plays,
good honesty from cam wardy out is, Yo, we're trash
with this. With that, Hey, you know we're trying to
get better. Should have went for it, We should been
He's kind of like, I think, you go, the team's
bad coach.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Maybe isn't the greatest. He should have kept Rabel.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
He doesn't have a lot around him that I think
we're all stalling him out. That's why we're not trashing
him right now. And obviously he's done enough that you go, oh,
there's also some good things. But I think Rob g
This game is an opportunity. Even though it's the Toilet Bowl.
It ain't the Super Bowl, it's the toilet Bowl. But
I think it's for sure. Do or to go, Hey,
I know y'all just gave it to Cam. You just

(04:59):
simply said Cam the number one pick. It was a
shoe in. It was easy. We knew it and it happened.
But he and I knew that. Hey, man, I'm good.
You're good. Hey, I feel like I should be the
number one. I just feel like I should be the
number Maybe not number one pick, but the first quarterback
taken Shador.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
They both thought they should be number one, but the
other guy thinking that wasn't offensive to them, no at all,
Like hey, both had the mutual respect.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
It was all love. And I think this is a
chance for Shadur. While it is a toilet Bowl, there's
no playoff implications, but just to go, hey, I don't
have the better team either. It's not like he's on
this maybe not with the Eagles or the Lions or
the Patriots. Somewhere it's not fair where you know you
can say, oh, Cam had no shot. Both teams are bad,
Both teams are having great seasons. Both teams aren't loaded
with the most talent, although defensively for Browns, I think

(05:40):
Shador has a chance to say I felt like I
was the better quarterback. I feel like I should have
been the first one, and I, you know, and have
a chance to kind of making not a name, but
just say, don't forget about me. I know y'all had
him lined up and it was a given that he
was going to be the first, but I'm here and
have a shot to do that, and it's his chance
to just kind of say, you know, let me remind

(06:03):
you that me being a fifth round pick was kind
of crazy because I was supposed to be late first round,
second round, five maybe third round, not fifth round. And
again people are gonna just go, oh, this is the
number one pick, this is planning should door. And I
think we'll look at the stats.

Speaker 6 (06:16):
Somebody's gonna be watching, nobody's gonna be war, but we'll
look at it, see the highlights, and we'll go oh,
all right, because again he doesn't have an unfair advantage
with a ridiculously great team.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
He's not on the rams or it's not fair. I
think people are all right. Maybe it was a little
closer than we thought we.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Think ordinarily, I would one thousand percent agree with that
that sentiment because, like you said, shoulder falling in the draft,
contrary to what Rob might say, you know, was a
shock wave through the NFL, not just because of what
mel Kuiper said, but because of what Danie Jeremiah said.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Who's the other guy used to work with Kuiper? Talk
like pick your favorite? That's what I try to tell, right.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
They were all saying that, and then go down the
list of the insiders, talk to what Adam Schefter, Mike
garat Fugel, They are all talking to execs around the league.
Bucky Brooks putting on his mock draft. Yeah, maybe he's
not a number one pick, but you know he's twenty
twenty two, twenty five somewhere in there. Someone's gonna throw
from the second to get him in the back of
the first thing, get the fifth year option on him
like that. That was what the conversation was. So that's

(07:20):
why it was such a big story that he felt
with the fifth round. The reason why I slightly disagree
with you though, and it goes back to your original
point about cam Ward.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Cam Ward to me is like the Zachary Reshochet of
the NFL.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Who who exactly?

Speaker 4 (07:35):
And this is not an insult to cam Ward in
any shape or form, because even though the numbers are bad,
like he's lasting QBR like you know, he's a bottom
thirty or like thirtieth, and in a lasting rating thirty
of the QBR like historically bottom three in the last
fifteen years, and all these advanced. That's that's what I'm
talking about, because if you watch the film or you
watch him play, he makes two or three plays a
game where you're like, oh, yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
That's why, that's why he's number one.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
But he has things around him, and if he had
better talent and better infrastructure, you would see it more often.
But the reason why I bring up Rishachet is because
two years ago, not this year, was Kipper Flagg. Last
year before that, he was number one overall picks Atlanta.
He was the guy who wants Atlanta won the lottery.
The consensus seemed to be, it's probably gonna be this guy.

(08:19):
It's between two French dudes, it's Richachet or Sar. But
if we're gonna lean to one, it's gonna be Richachet.
You look at his rookie season averaged twelve points a game,
right four rebounds for from three finished second and Rookie
of the Year. He wasn't a bad player by any
stretch of the imagination. But it's like, oh yeah, I

(08:42):
forgot that that guy was number one overall pick. Like
there's nothing about him that says, oh, man, come see
top overall pick. Zactly reached it in Atlanta Hawks, come
check out number one overall pick cam Ward and the
Tennessee Titans. There's nothing about that with him. So I
believe that if Shador ends up out performing him or
beating him, I don't think either one of the guys

(09:03):
can put on a show because the teams are so bad.
But if he does get the better of him, I
don't think it's gonna bring up the discourse because it's
not gonna be all that impressive that you beat the
nondescript number one overall pick.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
So here's my here's my pushback to that. I think
had they not have a relationship, I'd be with you
if he was just a dude who just say number
We don't know whatever. The fact that they are very cool,
that they're tight. There's plenty of videos online of them
talking smacking workouts, one on one workouts with you know,
all the trainers and all that. And I think that
makes it so the natural if you're a reporter is hey,

(09:36):
how's it play feel to play your buddy? Hey, you
guys been competitive.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
With your thought about that? And he's like, oh, nothing
extra because I got to take every game the.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Same, right, but after the game or right before the gate,
it's gonna be one of those we're gonna see him
on the field, they're gonna swap jerseys or that kind
of thing. So hey, how to feel that.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
One of them to be miked up and they're gonna
say something to each other like boy.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Now we get to see but you and it's all
gonna be in good fun and good sportsmanship. So that's
the reason why I think will kind of be a thing.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Now.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Again, both of their teams suck even if they were better,
not much better. Let's say they were sitting here at
so instead of Browns being three and nine, what is
that twelve games, let's say they were just five and seven.
Were's like, all right, you know they won a few
and if Tennessee was maybe instead of there they were
four and eight, where it's like they've got a handful
of wins, a couple more weapons. I think then it'd

(10:21):
be a bigger thing. Right now, they're both so bad.
When you got to combine four wins between the two teams,
that ain't all good. But I do feel I do
feel cam Ward again. I think he's done. You mentioned
it just enough. He's got strong enough arm, big enough arm,
done enough that people staw him out.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
Yeah, that's why he's had a lot go wrong around him.
Like you mentioned, Brian Callahan got fired.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
Middle of the season, they faced the hardest schedule, which
nobody I don't even know how that's possible, because it is.
They're such a bad team and they're thirty first in rushing,
twenty ninth in offensive line win rate.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Well, I think part of that they got no weapons
on the outside.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
I think part of the hardest schedule, without even looking
at it, will be I know the Texans are gonna
bounce back and all of a sudden be a good
team in their own division, and then the Colts, who
knew were Colts, would be you know, the Jag cont
the Jags are something good? Like what the heck was that?
When did AFC sounds become the NFC North kind of.
So I think that caught everybody off gar where you're like, oh,

(11:16):
this should be an easier schedule than it actually turned
out to be. So but yeah, you're right though, Cam New,
I mean, Cam Whart, it's shocking that he's not getting
JaMarcus Russell type, you know, not at all. I mean,
if you just look at the numbers, you would think
he's white in that region. You would think, you know
what he thinks. You would think he'd be getting blasted

(11:37):
for that. But that's not the case. So but yeah,
this is this is a good Again, It's a terrible
game as far as the schedule, like nobody really wants
to watch it, But I do think.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
I'll put it on the biggest TV you would. I'm
a place for the drama.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
I gotta put like Ravens and and uh Steelers like
on the small one on the tablet, and I gotta
get shit during Cam on the sixty inch.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
I think your TV is gonna start like remember the
old black and white when it would just go I
think he might go black and white and the fuzz
and you'll get that all right all the way. Steve
Sos earlier that somebody's expected to play a star quarterback.
But to me again, it might be time to say, hey, bro,
we'll get him next year. We'll tell you we're talking
about next It's the ocaple. Rob is in for Rappee

first off, all calm down.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Second of all, you know, are the basis of our
initial relationship, like seven eight years ago was built off me.
That started to be our vibe. I think it was
wiz Khalifa, yep, and we were just like, all, oh
you like this, so I kind of get your your taste,
so you know, I figured you would like him.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Okay, yeah, look at you now we're back binding.

Speaker 5 (15:15):
That's actually a good point by you.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
I's in love with them with Goblin back in the day.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Yeah, well that was that was of course most people
did too, and that's when I thought this kid's good. Anyway,
I said that to say he's like people got him
as Artists of the Year and all this at the
end of the year ends. But to your point, rob G,
he's one of those people. I acknowledge the talent, love
the creativity, very authentically himself. But I can't act like
I go to the albums like all the time.

Speaker 8 (15:39):
Ah, and I want to like I don't either, Okay,
all right, I just have a few songs I like,
Yeah that's just weird.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
Yeah, he is weird, but you like weird. I love weird.
It's the odd couple. Kelvin Washington, Rob G's and for
Roppie on a funky flash back Friday coming up in
about seven eight minutes, we got Sean King will be
down with the King. We'll talk some NFL headlines with him,
looking forward to that and then some other big time
stories to the NFL ones. We got to get to
rob Zie, but one of them. Steve told us earlier
Lamar Jackson expected to play nursing an ankle injury. He's

(16:09):
been going through a lot though really this season.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
Yeah, he actually missed two practice Gay Dames this week
with the ankle injury. Now what's interesting about that is
it's now four straight weeks that Lamar has been sidelined
for at least one practice since he's come back from
the hamstring injury. And there are three different injuries. So
one of them in the hamstring, one has been the ankle.
I think one of one was a shoulder situation. It's

(16:35):
either this man is extremely banged up and we got
to rest him as much as possible as much as
we can, or that hamstring just never fully healed and
we're not gonna let anyone know it's the hamstring, So
we are gonna put a different injury that you can
kind of play off throughout the week. But long story short,
this looks like it's gonna be a rest of the

(16:56):
seasons I think for Lamar.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Yeah. And that's where you have to start as your
general managers, if you're a coach, John Harball, and if
you're you know, owners of the team, and if you're
Lamar Jackson, you have to start to be honest with yourself.
And that's where it becomes difficult because you're a football
player first. And listen, we can we come on the
airways and we we we talk smack about guys. Right,
We'll say Will Levis, we're just making for anybody hurt haha,
this person. Ever. You gotta be tough to play football,

(17:20):
just starting from a young age, right, you got to
be tough. You gotta be all in. It's just one
of those brutal sports. It's and so these guys are tough,
they're hard, they want to play, they want to compete.
You know this, You played sports like it's about the team,
it's not just me. But you just kind of got
to also be honest with where you are. And so
I'm not gonna tell Lamar he needs to sit it down,

(17:40):
per se, because I think the division still being out.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
There depending on where you look the dision, That's.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
What I mean exactly, And so the division still is
out there for them to win. And of course you
win the division, you're in the postseason. And what do
we say about the posseason you get in? You never know,
because I'm sure there's a couple of times we didn't
think the New York Giants would get in.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
He oh, he does just win Super.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Bowl and have the nerd to mess around and win
those things. So if you're thinking, hey, once we get in,
you wipe the clean slate, wipe our hands, and let's
see what we can do. So I get that. But
if Lamar can't be Lamar, which he has not been,
and that's where I'm going, rob Gie, he hasn't been Lamar,
like not passing the ball. Great, listen to this, Robgi.

(18:22):
One of the things that has been great, and I
mean this sincerely, is to watch the evolution of Lamar
and multiple reasons allow me to get deep here. For seven.
It's not just oh, he's really good on the field,
It's that him becoming a really good passer from the
QBR standpoint, from percentage, completion percentage, and just becoming making
big throws. Because then people the next and I'm just

(18:44):
keeping in a buck, the next athlete. They don't call
him an athlete quarterback. Oh he could be a receiver.
He's an athlete. Lamar's ascension becoming a pocket passer, dissecting defenses,
knowing when to run, was huge for the larger good
of I would just say it a lot of times
a lot of African American quarterbacks because you know what
they've done for twenty thirty years, forty years was oh, well, yeah,
he's just an athlete. No, I can God forbid, I

(19:07):
can throw and run. It can be fast, it can
make plays. Now that's regular. We see it from anybody
in black white corp. It doesn't matter. But you know
what I mean, for a period of time, Oh, he's
just an athlete. Put him at receiver, put him at
a scatback. He can do this. So Lamar's ascension was crucial,
and he had gotten really good at that completion percent is,
making big throws, all that kind of just going up
being a pocketaz.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
One point had the highest passer rating, and if for.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
One hundred percent, where I was going to go now
the last handful of games, look at this rom G
fifty eight percent completion percentage fifty six fifty six, fifty
three that hadn't been him, one hundred and fifty three
yards one hundred and seventy six yards on hundred and
ninety three, zero touchdown, zero touchdown, zero touchdowns, one touchdown, interceptions,

(19:47):
one interception, two interceptions, fumbling the ball.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
Last three games, zero touchdowns, three picks, two lost fumbles,
eight sacks.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
And doesn't look comfortable.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Nope, Gino Smith numbers.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
One hundred percent. You would know it's a raider f
not running the ball effectively, not running at all, running
it all, getting by guys. He just looks off and
at a certain point you go, dude, I commend the toughness,
the desire to be the leader of the team, but
are you hurting yourself both on the field and maybe
even like the physical that you can't play for a

(20:18):
certain you know, period of time when we need you.
So I'm not gonna say, yeah, we'll see him play
this week, but sure he's gotta be thinking about that
because he doesn't look himself, and it's not just a game,
and it's not just too it's been this whole duration
since he's come back.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
Yeah, I couldn't agree with you more. And and in
full disclosure, I think they're gonna win this week. And
it's less to do about him and Baltimore and more
to do with the Steelers, and I just think that
they got I agree with They're just a dumpster fire
right now.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
But I told you before.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
I told Ron the camera will me, I told you Rob,
that's Rob g Elijah'm over here today, Eliza rode camera. Eliza.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
It's the first time I ever had to fire you, Eliza.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Right.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
But but I told you before the show that if
somehow Pittsburgh gets the upset here and they beat Baltimore,
and if somehow Cincinnati gets the upset and they beat
Buffalo in Buffalo, and both spreads I think are like
six points, so nobody they're not expecting either game to
be close. To be honest with you, if both of
those things happen, I told you I'm tinaking Cincinnati to

(21:16):
win that division. I think they're gonna win out and
close and out of nowhere. Take the AFC North because
Lamar Jackson is not Lamar Jackson right now, and their
entire fortune and the success of their team hinges on
him not just being okay, not with him being bad
quite honestly, like he's been the last three and a
half weeks. Yeah, he has to be great for them

(21:39):
to win and win at a high level. And if
he can't even be an average NFL quarterback, this team
is just not very good.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
Well, I'm gonna add to why the Browns are The
Bengals have a better chance too. Is their schedule, Yes,
looking forward, so they'll both play each other next week,
so right, they'll be able to battle that out and
see who can get that one. So both teams can say, hey,
hey Roger, your tripping or hey hey Kevin, you're tripping.
We got a chance we can fight it out against
each other. But then, if you look at the Ravens
rest of the schedule is the Steelers, big one in

(22:09):
the division. Then they play the Bengals, big one in
the division. But then they got to play the Patriots,
then they got to play the Packers, and then they
also close it out which could potentially be a huge one.
Probably not because we don't expect the Steelers. January fourth,
they'll play the Steelers. The Bengals have just a slightly
better one and they also have a surging Joe Burrow.
They'll be playing again after the Ravens. On the fourteen,

(22:31):
they'll go to Miami, who just there you go, right.
Then they'll play the Ravens again, but then they'll have
the Patriots and then they'll end it with the Steelers.
So I just feel like they have a slightly easier
schedule and they can control a little bit more with
Joe Burrow coming back a little bit healthier. But I'm
not gonna count out Lamar yet. He's earned that. He's

(22:52):
stay good. He's just not himself. He is not himself.
And if he's not passing the ball well and he's
not running either effectively or not running it all at times,
that's got to be hurting the team a little bit,
all right. Shaun King on the other side, will be
down with the King right now, Steve Seger, can you
send on with Jenny Hay Steve Hey.

Speaker 9 (23:08):
There are a lot of quarterback news from the NFL today.
We'll start with the Monday night match at Philadelphia is
at the LA Chargers and Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, with
his broken left hand, was able to practice on a
limited basis. Again, the team is optimistic he can play Monday,
but he has yet to take snaps from under center,
something he could not do last Sunday either. Chargers first
round running back Omari and Hampton returned to full practice.

(23:30):
He broke an ankle in Week five. Cardinals quarterback Kyler
Murray is out for the year with a foot injury.
He's been on injury reserve for a month. Vikings quarterback
JJ McCarthy will start after clearing concussion protocol. Washington QB
Jaden Daniels will return to start Sunday at Minnesota, and
Yes quarterback Lamar Jackson to the Ravens will play Sunday
against the Steelers. He returned to full practice today. Saints

(23:53):
running back Alvin Kamara is out at Tampa Bay with
knee and ankle injuries. Bengals wide receiver T Higgins returns
Sunday at Buffalo. He cleared concussion protocol. Brian Branch, Lion
safety is out for the year after at torn achilles
last night. Penn State's new head football coach will reportedly
be Matt Campbell from Iowa State on an eight year deal.
He's been at Iowa State the past ten years. Three

(24:15):
time Big Twelve Coach of the Year. Alabama running back
jam Miller is questionable for Saturday's SEC title game. Leg
injury the problem, and backup running back Kevin Riley is out.
Former SEC commissioner Roy Kramer died at the age of
ninety six. A reminder this Saturday night, number one Ohio
State against number two Indiana for the Big Ten title

(24:35):
in Indianapolis on Fox TV. Each team is twelve to oher.
There are four conference championship games tonight. Right now in
the American Conference, number twenty two Lane is down seven
to nothing to twenty fourth rank North Texas five minutes
to go first quarter. The winner should make the playoff.
Troy is at number twenty five James Madison for the
Sunbelt title. Dukes of James Madison leading seventeen thirteen now

(24:58):
against Troy, which is scored extra point is pending on
Fox TV. Boise State has just gotten into the end
zone extra point. O meggat seven nothing at home against
ten and two UNLV for the Mountain West Crown and
in Conference USA halftime Kennesaw State leads seven nothing at
Jacksonville State. Among the twelve NBA games tonight at Boston,

(25:19):
early third quarter, Lakers, well, they're down seventy eight to
fifty three at Boston. Luka Donsich of La out again
for family reasons. He could return on Sunday. Meanwhile, at
New York still second quarter, it's fifty nine thirty one
Nicks over the Utah Jazz. Big lead at Atlanta Hawks
sixty seven forty four over the Denver Nuggets, and the

(25:41):
Magic up sixty seven sixty three on Miami in the
third quarter. In college basketball, there's a top twenty matchup
in Nashville. Gonzaga is ripping Kentucky sixty one thirty six
with eleven and a half minutes to go. And among
the five NHL games, it's the Golden Knight's late second
period leading one nothing at New Jersey. US men's Socker

(26:01):
will face Paraguay and Australia in next Summer's World Cup,
and then it'll face a European playoff winner.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Back to you, Steve, thank you Odd Couple, Kelvin Wahers
and Rob g Who's for rope On a funky flashback Friday,
and as we always do on Fridays around this time,
we're getting ready to be down with the King.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
Checking in with u Man.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
Sean King, former NFL quarterback, Fox Sports Radio NFL analyst
Real Sean King on ex Seawn whatever, bruh sewan nothing
good man, Just talking to Lamar a little bit here.
I want to get your perspective of this. You played
the position quarterback. You know what it is to lead
a team, lead a franchise. You played football, you know
what it is to be tough. Let me ask you this,

(26:43):
when do you have the conversation with yourself?

Speaker 3 (26:46):
When does maybe the coach or general.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Manager somebody have a conversation of Man, it might be best
to just set it, you know, sit this one out
or shut it down or is it pushed through. I'll
give you an example talking about Lamar ankle injury, hamstring
and not looking great. He's actually looking really bad. He's
not running, he looks hesitant even when he is. Guys
are catching him that normally don't. He's just off. His
passage of passing efficiency is off. What do you make

(27:11):
of what he's going through and how tough is that?
To kind of gauge when you're like, no, man, I
actually really am hurting. I'm hurting the team versus No,
I'm hurt, but I can keep going.

Speaker 10 (27:19):
I don't think they got a backup ox and on
the roster that gives you a better chance to win
than Lamar Jackson. And you look at the division, I
mean it's still anybody's division. Sure, I think it'd be
different than somebody had ran away. But you know with
Lamar you can player you can't. And you know we
are talking about a guy that's a two time NFL MVP,
So you give him the benefit of the doubt I

(27:40):
think at every turn here, and you just hope that
you know, he can continue to get more healthy as
the season goes on and his play can can improve.
But I mean you're gonna ride it down with Lamar.
I mean, that's your guy. You know, even eighty percent
of him is better than one hundred percent of anybody
else they have on the roster.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
Well, speaking of MVP's another big in the AFC. You
got reigning MVP Josh Allen hosting Joe Burrow and the Bengals.
And I just told Calvin that I think if if
Cincinnati gets this upset win and if somehow Pittsburgh is
able to stun in Baltimore, not because you know, Baltimore
is that great because the Pittsburgh so bad, you know,
I think that the Bengals can win that division outright.

(28:19):
I think they can run the table and win it.
Am I crazy for thinking that?

Speaker 3 (28:21):
Sean?

Speaker 10 (28:22):
I mean, you're not crazy, because any team that has
Joe Burrow and that kind of final power is going
to be in it every week. But I mean, are
you willing to put your children's future on that defense?

Speaker 1 (28:32):
Jokes?

Speaker 3 (28:32):
And you only got like eighty bucks in that account,
so we're fine.

Speaker 10 (28:36):
The defense will be the bigger question. I don't think
they're very good on defense. I think they, as we
just alluded to, called a Baltimore team the struggling right
now offensively. But I don't believe that since he's defense.
I think that it's great that Joe Burrow. It's shows
a competitiveness that he came back, you know, when he's
sign to will his team to a playoff birth, But ultimately,

(28:57):
it takes a complete team to make the kind of
run if they need to make, and I just don't
think they're good enough on defense. But this while they
play the games, we'll see I'm gonna.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
Go backwards a little bit. That's hopping to Dolore and
go back to last night on Thursday Night football lines
get a big win, much needed win. A couple of
things that they want to ask you from that game.
Number one Jamier gives. I mean, my guys, I don't
feel like maybe we as a mass media they'll talk
about him enough because you know, we talk quarterbacks. We
talk a cute kind of the greatest hits if you will.
The Cowboys Aaron Rodgers, but Jamiir gives been incredible, So

(29:26):
tell me what you see for him. And then also
I want to go a little bit with with the Lions.
Can they go without Brian Branch They've been Inrew Robbie
and I talked about this so much. Can they still
make a push with all the injuries they've had.

Speaker 10 (29:40):
Tamith gives is phenomenal. I mean he can do everything,
run between the coy coose, he's got in speed, he
can catch it. I mean he's with's out a deficiency.
The biggest story last night is I mean detroite defense,
even though like Dallas scored thirty, like they got pe
teachers and waiting room coach playing in the secondary right now,

(30:02):
and when CD went down because Pickens was in his feelings,
you know, Dallas just didn't have the dudes to keep
making plays. I thought Dak missed a couple of throws
early that they could have changed, Like the momentum in
the game, he had Ceedee Lamb wide open for a touchdown.
He threw the ball over his head out of bounce.
But I don't believe in Detroit, you know, especially not
at branches out. I think he said he's got a

(30:23):
mki les.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
I read that right now, You read it right Saturday, and.

Speaker 10 (30:26):
I think they'd already lost the other three starters and
they did. I don't think that's sustainable moving forward. But
I mean, the one thing about that team is they
take on the personality of their head coach, and he's
a no excuse guy. He's a next man up. So
we'll see if they can get it done. But again,
I think it takes a complete team to win a
championship in that league, and so a lot like I

(30:49):
just think Detroit's secondary is going to be an issue
at some point.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
That's fair form.

Speaker 4 (30:53):
If our quarterback Sean King here with the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio sticking in that division, Big Game.
Of course, you got the Bears and the Packers going
head to head. The Bear surprisingly the number one team
in the NFC this season, despite the fact that outside
of maybe Rob Parker, I don't think anyone thinks they're
really that good. And Kayla Williams is the kind of
winning in spite of him. What are your thoughts first

(31:15):
on Kayla Williams as a quarterback? You play quarterback a
number two. Do you think that this is a kind
of a game where I'm not gonna say Green Bay
exposes them, but they kind of show you that beating
up on bad teams does not make you the top
team in the NFC.

Speaker 10 (31:29):
Well, I think anybody can beat you any week in
the NFL. I think we've seen that this year. They
preseason Bears to win the NFC North Picket.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
So wow, you're the one.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
Yeah, A lot of the one.

Speaker 10 (31:42):
Caleb. Caleb and bow Knicks are so similar to me,
Like they've got this hyper phonetic energy that they play
with on every down. And because Denver is a little
better on defense, because I think Sam Paton's more experienced
and Ben Johnson's going it pick job. It's kind of
been able to manage Bowl a little bit, but Taylor's

(32:02):
just got to calm down. Like if he ever could
just calm down, he'd be so much better as a quarterback.
But a lot of the inconsistency with him being able
to locate the football is because he's just like the
road runner out there, like everything's a thousand speed. It's
frustrating to watch because I want to cast my ticket,
but Ben Johnson is trying his best to channel. You

(32:25):
know what makes Caleb really good with his ability to
extend plays and he's an elite athlete like Caleb Williams.
In a lot of ways, it's as good of an
athlete as Lamar Jackson. And that may sound crazy because
people don't attach that to Caleb well watching like nobody
runs him down, but he outruns guys all the time.
But he's just got to settle down and make it

(32:45):
the layups. If he can do that. Chicago's dangerous because
they're talented on offense man DJ Moore, a Dunza, they
got two good tight ends. They comect in Loveland. DeAndre
Swift's kind of re emerge with Ben Johnson only of
the mis Prouts's name, but not Nina the back of
one of the gods. Yeah, Lucid Burden is playing well

(33:06):
as a rookie, so if Taylor can sell it, now,
Chicago's dangerous. But this is a good test for him.
I don't know what Jordan loves you're gonna get from
week to week, but if you get the good when
green Bay can win it all, if the other Jordan
Love shows up, then they're not a thread at all.
But it's a good test Division game, green Bay chasing Chicago.
Who would have thought we'd have said that at this
point of the year. Yeah it I was fatten myself

(33:31):
on the back. But test for Cato.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Hey, one more real quick from me. Texans at Chiefs.
This is it for the Chiefs, right, and they're coming up.
They picked the worst time to be in to do
a die situation against a surging Texans team that's playing great,
not only defensively, we already know that the offense is
starting to come alive.

Speaker 10 (33:49):
Well we'll see. I got a Texans to win the
AFC ticket as well, so hopefully c. J. Stroud can
find that rookie magic that he had. I still see
what the hell is going on with Joe Mixon. I mean,
him coming back at any point before this season ends
would be tremendous for that offensive attack because he's such

(34:09):
a dynamic running back. But until then, they're gonna have
to manage the game by throwing the football. Gotta figure
way to get Nico Commins more involved. Right, He's a
top five six wide receiver who goes invisible a lot
of times in that system. But I mean they're as
good as anybody on defense. I love the Nko Ryans
was ahead coach. I think they go ahead and knock
Casey out of the playoff front this weekend.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
Anything you got any best bet?

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Oh?

Speaker 10 (34:33):
I got two great ones that I love. Listen to
Indiana Hoosiers money line tomorrow versus Ohio State. Wow quarterback.
Ohio State's played all year. I know arch Manning got
better as the year went on, but remember that game.
He missed a whole lot of layups. Mendoza won't and
I'm staying in that town. I like the Coats to
get it done on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
Oh all right, there you have it. Mann't want to
hear that. You want to hear none of thatppreciate it.
Man have a great weekend shot, no doubt. All right
on the way. Rob G has some thoughts on a
quarterback that might possibly be on the move.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
We'll tell you who, and we'll tell you possibly where.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
Next.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
It's theat Couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (35:27):
Fox Sports Radio A Couple, Kevin Washington, Rob G and
for Rob on a funky flashback Friday, Sean King shout
out to him. We were just down with the King.
You can check out the podcast Patrick. We'll get that
up in just a little bit. For over forty years,
tire Rec's been helping customers find the right tires for how,
for what and where they drive. Ship Fast and free
back by free Road has a protection with convenient insulation

(35:49):
options like Mobile Tire Insulation, tire rec dot Com. The
way tire buying should be, Rob G. We'll get to
this one real quick man. About three years ago, I
don't know if there was more of like a promising
upstar quarterback, had a good season, got paid clearly athletic

(36:11):
and number one pick, you know, going down the line,
and Kyler Murray was that guy. And now with just
injuries not performing well. I would also add I think
this part plays a role some of the accountability solid
duty call it, some of the accountability, some of the
call of duty not really you know, not looking at
the playbook and all that good stuff and film, and

(36:32):
and also just demeanor. You know, I think he counts
rub maybe teammates to the vibes are off if you
will here we are were Kyler Murray man. We don't
I don't think we know what's gonna happen, but I
think there's there's a chance to where Arizona says, nah, thanks,
but no thanks, he moves on.

Speaker 4 (36:51):
You know, I think we know exactly what's gonna happen.
I think we've seen the last of Kyler Murray in
the Cardinals uniform. It was a now today that he's
gonna miss the rest of the season, that the foot
injury is not progressing the that they hoped it would,
which is interesting because when he first got shut down,
the reporting was that it was more like a soft
benching in anything that it's like, yeah, he's a little
bit nicked up, but we just give him an excuse

(37:12):
to sit out and and you know, collect his thoughts or.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Whatever to put where we brisket. We talked AboutUs on
the show.

Speaker 4 (37:19):
There was a game where they had a plan to
have him get reps like throughout the game, not gonna
start the game, but like, hey, we're gonna get him
in here and there for a couple of drives, work
his way back in, and then like two days later like, no,
actually he's out for the he's not playing this week.
And it's like, well, is he hurt or is he
not hurt? Because you can't say you have a package
of plays he's gonna play.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
I think he's done in Arizona. And the question then
becomes who's gonna be in a trades for him? Because
I don't think they're gonna cut him and absorb that
big of a cap it if you're Arizona. And my
first thought, well number one is the Raiders, but we
got Geno Smith and we can't cut him.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
Can't afford both of those guys.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
It's Minnesota because the JJ McCarthy, the experience has been
wildly disappointing. You know, you move on from Sam Donald
because you think you don't want to make him a
long term after a quarterback. You let Daniel Jones leave
to compete for a starting job, not even guarantee it,
but just compete in Indianapolis. And then Aaron Rodgers calls

(38:17):
you and say, hey, I would love to come in
and compete for your job, and you say thanks, but
no thanks because JJ is our guy.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
I think that was a wild misstep.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
And I think that roster is so good, and I
think they saw that this season that if they even
had competent quarterback play, they'd be in the mix of
the AFC or the NFC North. Watch for them to
make a move for Kyler Murray this offseason.

Speaker 1 (38:35):
Wrong. Let me tell you why I disagree. I get
your sentiment, and you might be. You might be saying
the right thing to do. They're not gonna do it.
Why they're not gonna do it is because it's called pride,
and the NFL teams, NBA teams, MLB, they're prideful. We
draft a guy tenth, a guy that a lot of
people up to get traded up to get him, and everybody
kind of.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
Goes, huh, okay.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
Let Sam Donald go who's balling out, playing very well
for Seattle, got them in the mix of the NFC West,
having a very similar season to the last season for him.
You mentioned Daniel Jones playing very well for the coach
for the most part, got them in a good position,
got them in the mix for the am absolutely, and
even contending you never know.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Aaron Rodgers team sucks there in the mix for the AMC.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
That's how bad that is. Yeah, I say that to
say pride kicks in and you say, typically what happens.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
And this is even in personal life. What's it called.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
It's called doubling down, digging your feet even deeper into sand,
you know, and people saying no, no, no, I know what
I'm doing. And Kevin O'Connell has been able to turn
all these quarterbacks around or at least get the better
version of them. And I think he's gonna look at
this project as like I can't fail him. I can't
fail We picked him. He's our guy. This is gonna work.
And that's why I don't think they're gonna move on

(39:47):
JJ at this. You know, they're gonna try to make
this work. This is gonna work. Despite me telling y'all
I'm from Annarburn, Michigan, and I was like everybody who
watched Michigan said the same thing. Oh give me my credit. Okay,
give me my credit. Be American Express. But by the way,
you mentioned the team he's going to go to, He's
going to be a Steeler. Aaron Rodgers is going to

(40:07):
realize why did I come back? He's going to retire,
and they're gonna go get Kyler Murray. You heard it
