criticism that hey, Bam out of Bayo is like an
overrated defender and doesn't really deserve the extension he got.
And that is a sore subject one you're talking about
contract money with about someone else. But the similarly defense,
like when he talks to the Miami Heat, even when
you don't ask them the question, they'll tell you that

Bam out of Baio doesn't get enough credit as a defender.

Defensive team. He's finally made it once, but he was

last two years, and he feels like he's the best

down to three spots. Right, it's uh Philadelphia, it's Cleveland,

What are you hearing on that?

Well, it's it's fluid. I mean I talked with Richpal
a few days ago. I mean, take over what it's worth.
He was adamant that there's no handicap with any teams
right now. Everything is a blank slate. He uh, you know,
emphasized that this could take a while. I mean I
even asked if this is going to take a month,
and he laughed, and I don't think it's going to
take a month. But when I asked, he is this
(25:54):
weeks or days? And he said, well, it's probably not
gonna happen a few days. So I don't think there's
a definitive feeling that he has, but when you talk
to people around the league gets evolved at least from
who I've talked to, and I mean everyone has their
different sources.

But there was a.

Feeling before the Lakers, before he and the Lakers parted ways,
there was some feeling that maybe he'll come back because
even though it's a pay cut, he can get more
money and you know, he can play with Browny and
still be close to family. But then when that didn't happen,
the initial feeling was, hey, he's going to go to
the Warriors because he's still close. He doesn't have to
move far away. And you know, while I was playing
(26:32):
with Steph right after being the Olympics. But now it's
shifted to where it feels like it could be Cleveland Miami.
I think, for what it's worth, the Cleveland conversation is
interesting because on one hand, that might be something we
thought all along for obvious reasons, he has this truth
with Cleveland and he comes back there again. That farewell
tour feels a little bit more authentic than any other team.
(26:54):
And you know, they are a playoff team. They have
a lot of flaws in the roster, but they're a
playoff team. But you know, as of a few weeks ago,
there's a lot of skepticism that Cleveland would be a
fit because they're pretty strapped from a cap standpoint, and
they have a lot of flaws in their roster, most
notably with James Harden and their defense outside of Evan Mobley.

But I think that's picked up steam. There's also been
this idea with Miami because not just the obvious history,
but once they got Jannis backed at the game changer.
But I will tell you this, there's also been some
arms crossed about Miami when at least I've asked people
because you have Giannis yet vam out of Bay.

You have Lebron.
Speaker 13 (27:34):
That's great, they play great defense. Lebron really hasn't done
much that can conserve as energy. But ever since they
traded Tyler Hero Norman Powell went to Chicago, the Heat
need more shooters and for all those three players to
really thrive, they got to have that. So what I'm
gaining at rob is I mean, I might be wrong,
obviously because only Lebron knows, but I think really anything

can happen, and I haven't gotten any sense that there
is a handicapped favorite right now.

What do you make of this? You you you live

We've heard about this Aspiration Company, show company now for
a year year plus. What do you make of this
whole Kawhi situation and how it may play out?

Does Bamberg get fine? Is he lose draft picks? And
what happens?
Speaker 4 (28:41):
It's wild.
Speaker 13 (28:41):
I mean when you were asking the question, I was laughing.
I apologize that's not as great as Kawhi's laugh. I
know that you're playing that the other day, but well,
this is embarrassing on multiple levels because you know, Adam
Silver's been on record you know during the finals that
they expected a resolute, loose and shoot soon and I thought, okay,

once the finals are over, we get it. I think
what was telling with the Raptors statement that they released
that they said that they're assuming the risk of any
potential outcome. And even though they say they are assuming
the risk of any potential outcome, my logic is thinking
that the Toronto Raptors made sure that if there is

some sort of punishment, it's not going to affect them.
Maybe it affects kid, but it doesn't like void the
deal in the contract for their ability to you know,
play with the Raptors right, you know, for what it's worth.
The Clippers have always said, hey, we didn't do anything wrong.
Nothing affects the way we do business.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
But if i'm.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
I mean, do you buy the state, it's.
Speaker 13 (29:50):
Hard for me to buy it. I mean, I can't
help but think today, try to launch a grenade here
and get out of dodge, get out of harm's way.
But even though the NBA, I don't think it's handled
this well from a league office, you know, Adam Silver
standpoint specifically with the timing of hey, give clarity before
these deals happen if whatever punishment is happening, it's gonna

be to the Clippers, It's.

Gonna be to Kauhi.
Speaker 13 (30:17):
I don't think Toronto is gonna be this like bystander
victim now right, But.
Speaker 8 (30:22):
It is bad.

And here's the thing, Like I get it, investigations take long.
When you look at this specific you know outside legal
firm that they hired. It was the same legal firm
that oversaw the Robert Starver investigation a few years ago,
and they didn't determine their findings until the beginning of
next season. So I guess technically from a timeline standpoint,
(30:46):
it's okay. But look like they're not investigating, you know,
a murder here, right, They're not law enforcement. I mean,
I know it's serious, but you gotta come to conclusion already.
Like they've had almost a year now to to figure
this out though. It's just it's just a bad look on.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
But when you say that, I agree. But the NBA,
I just don't buy into their investigations. They cleared Malik Beasley,
they cleared Terry Roji, Like, like, who's running their investigations
in what they do? I have zero confidence in Adam Silver,
zero confidence in the NBA and their investigators, And I
(31:28):
don't believe that they're going to do anything severe to
Steve Balmer.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
I just don't. I don't believe it. I just don't.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
I don't think they're going to hurt the richest owner
who just built this beautiful building in Los Angeles and
all the other stuff. I just I just think that
they'll find a way. If they had all the evidence
and all the bullets, I think they could have pulled
the trigger a long time ago, and they haven't done it.
Speaker 13 (31:53):
Yeah, totally on point, rob and very fair analysis. The
thing here all out. A few things here I'm trying
to stress is if or what if? And assuming there
is a punishment, it's going to be direct to the Clippers,
not the raptors, even if it's a slap on the wrist.
Here's the thing with the investigation. It's this law firm
that's leading it. You know, it's locked a lipped and
(32:14):
rosen and cats for whatever it's worth. So they're leading it.
But to your point, it's up to Adam Silver to
then decide, Okay, you gave us the finding, you had
all the time of me to do it. Now it's
my decision to make the punishment. But it's not like
the leagues overseeing the investigation. They're like dragging their feet
on how to answer ask questions that firm's doing it.
(32:36):
But I think to your broader point, Adam Silver then
has to make a decision. Okay, this is what you found,
what do I do? And history is shown he's afraid
to be the bad guy. He is surprise the same thing.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
And even the one thing I'm skary Kelvin, the one
thing when you talk about the one thing he did
do with the Clippers and Donald Sterling, he was forced
to do that Mark because the players didn't want to play.
They said they wouldn't play the playoffs, so that he
(33:08):
was forced into making that decision because Donald Sterling had
got the slide for years and the NBA never did
anything about a lot of allegations about Donald Sterling.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
For you say this, Rob, oh, go.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
Ahead, Mark, No, No, go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 7 (33:23):
I was just gonna say, I'm told the history shows
how Adam Silver has been soft.

Me and Rob talked about this yesterday.

The one thing I think that continues to be a
thorn on his side is this Pablo Tore investigations, and
it keeps coming up because this could have easy.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Kawhi Leon is quiet.
Speaker 7 (33:36):
You never hear anything the Clippers not like they're winning
things where they're in the media since that, because they're
you know, making finals runs.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
So it could just quietly went away.
Speaker 7 (33:44):
But Pablo keep finding, keeps finding things and putting it
out there. That is one thing where I think it
helps in the sense that it keeps it in the
public side, public side where I think he's like, my gosh.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
Just won't go away. And it's a chance. I told
Rob this yesterday.
Speaker 7 (33:57):
You finally got good momentum coming off the finals, great finals,
most watches ninety eight, the next New York number one
market have done, and you got some good momentum. To me,
it's a chance if you're Adam Silver to kind of
put your foot down a bit and say, see, I'm
trying to get away from the gamble, to get away
from the tanking, get away from the low management conversations,
and say, hey, look.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
The league's going in the right way. That's how I
view it. If he finally took the chance.
Speaker 13 (34:20):
Yeah, it's it's a I think a very fair analysis.
And when we're looking at you know, precedent with you know, investigations,
I mean the punishment from Adam Silver to Robert Sarver.
I know it's apples and orange is a completely different case.
But he just faced a one year suspension, ten million
dollars and fine. And given this a verity of issues
(34:40):
that Robert Sarver did, you thought it's a slap on
the risk. Now that did set up for the pressure
to have to sell the team instead of Adam Silver
and the league thing out right, this is what you
have to do. So maybe it is a slap on
the risk of punishment that leads to you know, the
organization or Steve Balmer or Kawhi Leonard having to face
(35:01):
more consequences. But again this is a different situation here,
and when it involves players, he hasn't had that track
record of really laying down the hammer. And that's to
bring a full circle with Donald Serling. And that's the
irony here because that was on a silver platter. You
mentioned the player pressure. The comments were out on social media,
(35:22):
there was no denying it. And David Stern, the late
NBA commissioner, he was never afraid usually of being a
bad guy laying down punishment, but when it came to
Stirling's behavior because you know, even though there were lawsuits
and things were documented, it wasn't out in the open,
and so there wasn't that same feeling that he has
to be banned for life now that then proceeded the sales.
(35:45):
So a lot of contradictions that we're living in with
the nbarew no doubt.

All right, I know we got to go maybe when
we might have gotten money funneled the same way. I'm
just saying that money he left on the table. I'm
just saying maybe not reporting anything.

a definitive feeling that he has, but when you talk
to people around the league gets evolved at least from
who I've talked to, and I mean everyone has their
different sources.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
But there was a.
Speaker 13 (26:10):
Feeling before the Lakers, before he and the Lakers parted ways,
there was some feeling that maybe he'll come back because
even though it's a pay cut, he can get more
money and you know, he can play with Browny and
still be close to family. But then when that didn't happen,
the initial feeling was, hey, he's going to go to
the Warriors because he's still close. He doesn't have to
move far away. And you know, while I was playing
(26:32):
with Steph right after being the Olympics. But now it's
shifted to where it feels like it could be Cleveland Miami.
I think, for what it's worth, the Cleveland conversation is
interesting because on one hand, that might be something we
thought all along for obvious reasons, he has this truth
with Cleveland and he comes back there again. That farewell
tour feels a little bit more authentic than any other team.
(26:54):
And you know, they are a playoff team. They have
a lot of flaws in the roster, but they're a
playoff team. But you know, as of a few weeks ago,
there's a lot of skepticism that Cleveland would be a
fit because they're pretty strapped from a cap standpoint, and
they have a lot of flaws in their roster, most
notably with James Harden and their defense outside of Evan Mobley.
(27:15):
But I think that's picked up steam. There's also been
this idea with Miami because not just the obvious history,
but once they got Jannis backed at the game changer.
But I will tell you this, there's also been some
arms crossed about Miami when at least I've asked people
because you have Giannis yet vam out of Bay.
Speaker 4 (27:34):
You have Lebron.
Speaker 13 (27:34):
That's great, they play great defense. Lebron really hasn't done
much that can conserve as energy. But ever since they
traded Tyler Hero Norman Powell went to Chicago, the Heat
need more shooters and for all those three players to
really thrive, they got to have that. So what I'm
gaining at rob is I mean, I might be wrong,
obviously because only Lebron knows, but I think really anything
(27:58):
can happen, and I haven't gotten any sense that there
is a handicapped favorite right now.

conversation about yesterday with just all the news happening, with
the Raptors not being able to get Kawhi basically have
to take all the all the you know, the punishment
that comes with it.

What do you make of this? You you you live
in LA.

We've heard about this Aspiration Company, show company now for
a year year plus. What do you make of this
whole Kawhi situation and how it may play out?

Does Bamberg get fine? Is he lose draft picks? And
what happens?
Speaker 4 (28:41):
It's wild.
Speaker 13 (28:41):
I mean when you were asking the question, I was laughing.
I apologize that's not as great as Kawhi's laugh. I
know that you're playing that the other day, but well,
this is embarrassing on multiple levels because you know, Adam
Silver's been on record you know during the finals that
they expected a resolute, loose and shoot soon and I thought, okay,

once the finals are over, we get it. I think
what was telling with the Raptors statement that they released
that they said that they're assuming the risk of any
potential outcome. And even though they say they are assuming
the risk of any potential outcome, my logic is thinking
that the Toronto Raptors made sure that if there is

some sort of punishment, it's not going to affect them.
Maybe it affects kid, but it doesn't like void the
deal in the contract for their ability to you know,
play with the Raptors right, you know, for what it's worth.
The Clippers have always said, hey, we didn't do anything wrong.
Nothing affects the way we do business.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
But if i'm.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
I mean, do you buy the state, it's.
Speaker 13 (29:50):
Hard for me to buy it. I mean, I can't
help but think today, try to launch a grenade here
and get out of dodge, get out of harm's way.
But even though the NBA, I don't think it's handled
this well from a league office, you know, Adam Silver
standpoint specifically with the timing of hey, give clarity before
these deals happen if whatever punishment is happening, it's gonna

be to the Clippers, It's.
Speaker 8 (30:16):
Gonna be to Kauhi.
Speaker 13 (30:17):
I don't think Toronto is gonna be this like bystander
victim now right, But.
Speaker 8 (30:22):
It is bad.
Speaker 13 (30:23):
And here's the thing, Like I get it, investigations take long.
When you look at this specific you know outside legal
firm that they hired. It was the same legal firm
that oversaw the Robert Starver investigation a few years ago,
and they didn't determine their findings until the beginning of
next season. So I guess technically from a timeline standpoint,
(30:46):
it's okay. But look like they're not investigating, you know,
a murder here, right, They're not law enforcement. I mean,
I know it's serious, but you gotta come to conclusion already.
Like they've had almost a year now to to figure
this out though. It's just it's just a bad look on.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
But when you say that, I agree. But the NBA,
I just don't buy into their investigations. They cleared Malik Beasley,
they cleared Terry Roji, Like, like, who's running their investigations
in what they do? I have zero confidence in Adam Silver,
zero confidence in the NBA and their investigators, And I
(31:28):
don't believe that they're going to do anything severe to
Steve Balmer.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
I just don't. I don't believe it. I just don't.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
I don't think they're going to hurt the richest owner
who just built this beautiful building in Los Angeles and
all the other stuff. I just I just think that
they'll find a way. If they had all the evidence
and all the bullets, I think they could have pulled
the trigger a long time ago, and they haven't done it.
Speaker 13 (31:53):
Yeah, totally on point, rob and very fair analysis. The
thing here all out. A few things here I'm trying
to stress is if or what if? And assuming there
is a punishment, it's going to be direct to the Clippers,
not the raptors, even if it's a slap on the wrist.
Here's the thing with the investigation. It's this law firm
that's leading it. You know, it's locked a lipped and
(32:14):
rosen and cats for whatever it's worth. So they're leading it.
But to your point, it's up to Adam Silver to
then decide, Okay, you gave us the finding, you had
all the time of me to do it. Now it's
my decision to make the punishment. But it's not like
the leagues overseeing the investigation. They're like dragging their feet
on how to answer ask questions that firm's doing it.
(32:36):
But I think to your broader point, Adam Silver then
has to make a decision. Okay, this is what you found,
what do I do? And history is shown he's afraid
to be the bad guy. He is surprise the same thing.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
And even the one thing I'm skary Kelvin, the one
thing when you talk about the one thing he did
do with the Clippers and Donald Sterling, he was forced
to do that Mark because the players didn't want to play.
They said they wouldn't play the playoffs, so that he
(33:08):
was forced into making that decision because Donald Sterling had
got the slide for years and the NBA never did
anything about a lot of allegations about Donald Sterling.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
For you say this, Rob, oh, go.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
Ahead, Mark, No, No, go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 7 (33:23):
I was just gonna say, I'm told the history shows
how Adam Silver has been soft.

Me and Rob talked about this yesterday.

The one thing I think that continues to be a
thorn on his side is this Pablo Tore investigations, and
it keeps coming up because this could have easy.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Kawhi Leon is quiet.
Speaker 7 (33:36):
You never hear anything the Clippers not like they're winning
things where they're in the media since that, because they're
you know, making finals runs.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
So it could just quietly went away.
Speaker 7 (33:44):
But Pablo keep finding, keeps finding things and putting it
out there. That is one thing where I think it
helps in the sense that it keeps it in the
public side, public side where I think he's like, my gosh.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
Just won't go away. And it's a chance. I told
Rob this yesterday.
Speaker 7 (33:57):
You finally got good momentum coming off the finals, great finals,
most watches ninety eight, the next New York number one
market have done, and you got some good momentum. To me,
it's a chance if you're Adam Silver to kind of
put your foot down a bit and say, see, I'm
trying to get away from the gamble, to get away
from the tanking, get away from the low management conversations,
and say, hey, look.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
The league's going in the right way. That's how I
view it. If he finally took the chance.
Speaker 13 (34:20):
Yeah, it's it's a I think a very fair analysis.
And when we're looking at you know, precedent with you know, investigations,
I mean the punishment from Adam Silver to Robert Sarver.
I know it's apples and orange is a completely different case.
But he just faced a one year suspension, ten million
dollars and fine. And given this a verity of issues
(34:40):
that Robert Sarver did, you thought it's a slap on
the risk. Now that did set up for the pressure
to have to sell the team instead of Adam Silver
and the league thing out right, this is what you
have to do. So maybe it is a slap on
the risk of punishment that leads to you know, the
organization or Steve Balmer or Kawhi Leonard having to face
(35:01):
more consequences. But again this is a different situation here,
and when it involves players, he hasn't had that track
record of really laying down the hammer. And that's to
bring a full circle with Donald Serling. And that's the
irony here because that was on a silver platter. You
mentioned the player pressure. The comments were out on social media,
(35:22):
there was no denying it. And David Stern, the late
NBA commissioner, he was never afraid usually of being a
bad guy laying down punishment, but when it came to
Stirling's behavior because you know, even though there were lawsuits
and things were documented, it wasn't out in the open,
and so there wasn't that same feeling that he has
to be banned for life now that then proceeded the sales.
(35:45):
So a lot of contradictions that we're living in with
the nbarew no doubt.

All right, I know we got to go maybe when
we might have gotten money funneled the same way. I'm
just saying that money he left on the table. I'm
just saying maybe not reporting anything.
