We didn't talk about it. And this week or. This
year's biggest storyline in terms of players has been USC
wide receiver Makayle Lemon.

Now you know who mikay Lemon is.

He was the Blittanikoff Award winner last season as.

The top wide receiver in college.

He could be He.

Led the power forward, receiving yards and yards after the catch.
So when he declared for the twenty twenty second of
our draft, the expectation was slam dunk, no doubt about it.
Top ten, top fifteen pick at worse. Flash forward to
the combine and the production is not a problem. It
seems to be that everything else, however, has been one.

First off, he did the media rounds a couple of
days ago. He met with the media, asked some questions
and they asked him about you know which receiver he
would compare himself to models the game after says I'm
Ross Saint Brown. His answer was not bad whatsoever. You
just read it. I'd say Amaras Saint Brown, type of
greedy plays with the way he can have a positive
impact team without the ball in his hands.

It's perfect. But if you watch the video.

He's kind of moving his body like a snake. He's
almost seducing the reporters with the way he's glaring deep
into their souls was like that it made everybody very uncomfortable.
And now over the weekend is when these guys have
their big interviews with all the different teams, and multiple
people have reported that Makai Lemon has basically bombed all
of his interviews. One person even said that the teams

they spoke to said that they've taken him off their
draft board completely. A third scout anonymously said that Lemon
quote walks around like he's got somewhere better to be. Guys,
questions very simple, how much stock do you put into
these bombed in interviews reportedly with Kayle Lemon? And and will
it overtake what had been a stellar collegiate career at USC.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
I don't believe that he was taking off the board
for that, I'm shocking to me.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
But no, the same thing. Do I think that?

I think they might have had some some chicken wings
and some beer afterwards, like doubt the kid's kind of weird. Sure, absolutely,
do I believe they're taking them off? No, because one
thing I've learned about the NFL is it doesn't matter
what you do they have, They have people who have
killed me literally, Dante Stalworth, and it's a terrible situation.
But there's been no limit. As long as you don't

kneel for any causes for African Americans in this country
and the injustice for all, as long as you don't
kneel about that, you got a chance to get back
in the league. You mentioned the drunk driving, calling, calling
people the N word be girlfriends, betting up girlfriends while
them on guns, wives selling drugs, doing drugs, picking crime.
You can get in the NFL and stay in the NFL.

That's why it's just comical.

Aaron Hernandez, everybody knew before he was drafted about him
and Levan's involved in them in gangs.

Yeah, he got picked up by the Patriots. They thought

list of all the people had felonies, they were called
the National Felony League because so many players in the

I like to go home and hold my dog and

I'd like to go home my puppy and just watch movies.
Like he's not your typical Rod Rod quarterback the way
he answers questions.

And you know, so what draft pick was he?

was gonna watch a movie and hold a puppy. I
don't think he could play for.

So I one thousand percent believe they might rag on them.
They might go home, talk to their friends, talk to
other scouts due that kid's weird joke joke. Yes, but
what I've learned is if you're talented, that buys you
so much stocking leeway in most leagues, but for Dagon
Shore the NFL. So I don't overly buy it or
put stock in this. Again, I do think there may
be a team or two that are like, uh, you know,
especially if they're loaded or if they haven't.

Receivers have the put they bring the diva Now you
don't want it to you.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
You don't mind the to version and that it was
always great on the field. What you don't want is
that Antonio Brown, I'm not sure everything is okay version,
So you know you you want to leave more left,
Little Dez Bryant, little extra times. I'll do with that,
little Odell Beckham head and should his commercials in the streets.
I can deal with that. So I don't overly buy that.

And I think just as greater the greater good. Oh
the interview is bad or this, that and the other.
If you are great talented and you're on their board,
sads for something wild like murderous or something you say or.

Something putting together a boys choir? What are we? What
am I?

What am I missing? We're not putting together a boys choir.
It's okay. Everybody's not going to be the same. Can
he play and again if.

You started looking at his history and he's got issues,
I think teams should do more, be more proactive.

That they drafted Aaron Hernandez.

They drafted, they drafted Tyreek Hill, They drafted guys who
come out with issues. You know they've been I mean,
we know millions of hundreds of athletes.

The region, the only region Ray Rice didn't get back
in the league.

He he was already on his way down, like tell him.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
But everybody saw that video, and everybody was afraid that,
you know what I mean, Like seriously, like you, ty
We we didn't see no video, Joe Mixon. We saw
video was a game changer for ray Rice, no doubt,
persada non grata. There was no way any general manager
could have a press conference and stand up there with.

Him that there was a game chain. We learned so
much from from then on about our own psyche. I
can tell you this happened. You can read I see it,
but when I see it, it's a game.

Not a question for you guys now. I think everything
you're saying is one hundred percent accurate. The caveat beings
you mentioned, Tyree Hill, Ray Rice, Aaron Hernandez, Joe Mixon
most recently. None of those guys won in the first round. Now,
Joe Mixon was the closest where he was projected to
go in the first round, fell to the second round
after that video surface.

hearing that's a little different, then they might take a

saying is just glad Like the video I saw who

his turn to do the drill and he just jogs
it at like. But i'ma say, the past goes forty

he should desire to protect an esteem women, many of
whom work diligently every day to make this best basketball
league in the world. We should promote an atmosphere that
is protective and respectful of the daughter's, wives, sisters, mothers,
and partners that we know and love. Allowing this night
to go forward with our protests would reflect poorly on
us as an NBA community, specifically and being complicit in

the potential objectification and mistreatment of women in our society.

year's biggest storyline in terms of players has been USC
wide receiver Makayle Lemon.

He was the Blittanikoff Award winner last season as.

The top wide receiver in college.

So when he declared for the twenty twenty second of
our draft, the expectation was slam dunk, no doubt about it.
Top ten, top fifteen pick at worse. Flash forward to
the combine and the production is not a problem. It
seems to be that everything else, however, has been one.

First off, he did the media rounds a couple of
days ago. He met with the media, asked some questions
and they asked him about you know which receiver he
would compare himself to models the game after says I'm
Ross Saint Brown. His answer was not bad whatsoever. You
just read it. I'd say Amaras Saint Brown, type of
greedy plays with the way he can have a positive
impact team without the ball in his hands.

It's perfect. But if you watch the video.

He's kind of moving his body like a snake. He's
almost seducing the reporters with the way he's glaring deep
into their souls was like that it made everybody very uncomfortable.
And now over the weekend is when these guys have
their big interviews with all the different teams, and multiple
people have reported that Makai Lemon has basically bombed all
of his interviews. One person even said that the teams

they spoke to said that they've taken him off their
draft board completely. A third scout anonymously said that Lemon
quote walks around like he's got somewhere better to be. Guys,
questions very simple, how much stock do you put into
these bombed in interviews reportedly with Kayle Lemon? And and will
it overtake what had been a stellar collegiate career at USC.

I don't believe that he was taking off the board
for that, I'm shocking to me.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
But no, the same thing. Do I think that?

I think they might have had some some chicken wings
and some beer afterwards, like doubt the kid's kind of weird. Sure, absolutely,
do I believe they're taking them off? No, because one
thing I've learned about the NFL is it doesn't matter
what you do they have, They have people who have
killed me literally, Dante Stalworth, and it's a terrible situation.
But there's been no limit. As long as you don't

kneel for any causes for African Americans in this country
and the injustice for all, as long as you don't
kneel about that, you got a chance to get back
in the league. You mentioned the drunk driving, calling, calling
people the N word be girlfriends, betting up girlfriends while
them on guns, wives selling drugs, doing drugs, picking crime.
You can get in the NFL and stay in the NFL.

Aaron Hernandez, everybody knew before he was drafted about him
and Levan's involved in them in gangs.

They might go home, talk to their friends, talk to
other scouts due that kid's weird joke joke. Yes, but
what I've learned is if you're talented, that buys you
so much stocking leeway in most leagues, but for Dagon
Shore the NFL. So I don't overly buy it or
put stock in this. Again, I do think there may
be a team or two that are like, uh, you know,
especially if they're loaded or if they haven't.

Receivers have the put they bring the diva Now you
don't want it to you.

You don't mind the to version and that it was
always great on the field. What you don't want is
that Antonio Brown, I'm not sure everything is okay version,
So you know you you want to leave more left,
Little Dez Bryant, little extra times. I'll do with that,
little Odell Beckham head and should his commercials in the streets.
I can deal with that. So I don't overly buy that.

And I think just as greater the greater good. Oh
the interview is bad or this, that and the other.
If you are great talented and you're on their board,
sads for something wild like murderous or something you say or.

Something putting together a boys choir? What are we? What

It's okay. Everybody's not going to be the same. Can

You started looking at his history and he's got issues,
I think teams should do more, be more proactive.

That they drafted Aaron Hernandez.

They drafted, they drafted Tyreek Hill, They drafted guys who
come out with issues. You know they've been I mean,
we know millions of hundreds of athletes.

The region, the only region Ray Rice didn't get back
in the league.

He he was already on his way down, like tell him.

But everybody saw that video, and everybody was afraid that,
you know what I mean, Like seriously, like you, ty
We we didn't see no video, Joe Mixon. We saw
video was a game changer for ray Rice, no doubt,
persada non grata. There was no way any general manager
could have a press conference and stand up there with.

Him that there was a game chain. We learned so
much from from then on about our own psyche. I
can tell you this happened. You can read I see it,
but when I see it, it's a game.

you're saying is one hundred percent accurate. The caveat beings

Joe Mixon was the closest where he was projected to
go in the first round, fell to the second round

Eyes can perform at halftime. They're gonna serve Lemon Pepper Wings,
Lou Williams Lemon Pepper barbecue Wings is gonna be a
whole thing, right.

See that sounds better to me to just regular drive.

So it was a big talking point on this show
because Magic City Monday is a brand name for us,
which they stole.

Wold get into that later.

Trademark in front is excited as he gets I'm not
sure he's not like a zero point big facts. The
way you get so excited big facts, The look at
your face last week we start talking about.

This, Considering the way y'all got into it, you can
assume that there's people around the league who also felt
some kind of way about it. Right while Luke Cornett,
the backup center of the San Antonio Spurs, wrote a
lengthy blog post about Magic City Monday and he is
calling on the NBA and their constituents to cancel it.

And here's what he said. I'm manrid it. In part,
he should desire to protect an esteem women, many of
whom work diligently every day to make this best basketball
league in the world. We should promote an atmosphere that
is protective and respectful of the daughter's, wives, sisters, mothers,
and partners that we know and love. Allowing this night
to go forward with our protests would reflect poorly on
us as an NBA community, specifically and being complicit in

the potential objectification and mistreatment of women in our society.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Are you ready? Yes?
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Backup centers should be heard, should be seen, not heard.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
How's that? What?
Speaker 4 (30:33):
Like you want to talk about misreading the room? And
we talked about it sellout overnight? What is sellout? And
record record time? Record time? This is unique to this community.
I'm that serious. And you know this. I mean I've
been going there since the nineties. Okay, it's a different place.
I don't go to just any old place anytime I'm

on the world, I don't. That is a place that
has a connection with the community. And I'm not surprised
that it sold out. There weren't people there picketing or
saying that, you know, like like women's groups could have
easily done that and come on down on the hawks.
But you kind of got to know. And I think

he's misguided here. And here's the other part that I
have a big issue with.

Where was your.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
Blog or your lathy blog about gambling? And you know
why there's no blog about gambling because gambling's legal, right,
and the NBA's in bed with gambling. And guess what
so is working at a strip club. They pay taxes.
It's illegal business. It's not illegal. If it's illegal, he

has a leg to stand on. You might not want
to take part in it, which I respect, and I
have no issue with. It's a legal business. This is
how women in that place or whoever make money. They
got to pay for school, They got to get dipe.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Are we ever gonna get rid of that theory? I'm
just saying this.
Speaker 5 (32:03):
Ain't you said ninety two whenever you started going ninety one?
They just making money. Now schools smooth. And I ain't
saying nobody don't know that.

I just said I don't know, Well, you would know
better than I. But let's not act like that. It's
a new what used to be taboo. All you gotta
do is turn on your Instagram, somebody either that they're
partying Mary Grease. They're either they're participating having fun or
the dancing, or they're girls who wish they were dancing
like the dancer. It's a whole What used to be
taboo in underground is no longer the case. It's very popular.

So the lead to your point. All the songs that
they mentioned live they listen Men in Magic City and
all that, and you know you hear them all, especially
in the Atlanta artists for the last twenty years they've
been rapping about it. But my point is, I told
you I don't have a problem with that's your personal preface.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
You want to go out. I don't have a problem with.
Who am I to tell somebody what they need to do?
Can you do your life? And this is not mine?
And you've never been there? The only thing no, would
you go just no, no, no, no.
Speaker 5 (32:59):
Those days are yeah. When I was like back in
the day, I try. They laughed at us because we
were all young.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
They are like, how much y'all think about it? Did
you go on?
Speaker 5 (33:08):
No, I'm saying they laughed at the idea of like,
you know, like, however much it was, we were like, oh,
it was packed it. I think we can't remember what
event though. Yeah, though, so those days are that that's
not mine, that's not my era now. But my biggest
thing is I get it. I knew Atlanta will love it.
I told you that Atlanta will be all in. It's
a big deal. But I just thought then when we

talked about it, that the NBA being tied to it.
It's just a one of those you can but should you?

But because there's only fans are also sponsoring events like
sporting events, only.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Fans specifically the NBA.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
I'm not saying no, no, no, no, no, no nobody, but
I'm just saying, like, the whole thing has changed.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
If this was twenty five years, I would agree with you.
But once you down with the gambling and that thing.
But now let me add to that because that's the point.
But what moral ground are you standing on.
Speaker 5 (34:07):
I'm glad you said that because I agree. We've talked
about the gambling and prop bet we've done. That's been
a big thing on our show. That's why I do
wonder if there's a part of them all right, we
got the gambling, we got issues with players.

You know, this has not been great for us, Terry Rozier,
Malik Beasley, all the stuff that went on Chauncey billis
is that's still pending, and all that investigation, No.

Where did that go. You haven't heard anything on right.

So you have all this stuff, the stench to which
handful of years ago you joined in on this NBA.

And that's my point.

Is there a regret of opening up Pandora's box, of
doing that, doing that? So that's why I just thought,
not that this it makes sense for Atlanta. Anybody knows Atlanta,
you know it. It totally makes sense, But more so
the league. Okay, if you told me, say it was
one of our shorter conversations we have, we call them,
you know, forty five. So we were have one of
those because Magic City was doing some unsanctioned NBA thing

and NBA was like, nah, we'd rather you not. That
would make more sense. But the idea that the NBA
is like, come on in, do your thing, Atlanta Hawks,
I'm still shocked.

One of the owners, Rob g correct me. Isn't he
one of the Hawks owners? He was hyperboud. It's part
he's a part of Like he's the one who put
together the documentary of Omar about Magic City, Like there's
a connection between.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
But that's but that's documentary right now.

But it's a woman actually, okay, Jamie Gertz, co owner,
actress and the film producers, the one.
Speaker 8 (35:32):
Who did the docus hearies.

So that makes sense.

You ever see the movie Twister, she plays the woman
that the guy leaves.

I know Atlanta. I'm talking larger NBA being connected to something.
What if something goes wrong money, Look, I just I
didn't think the NBA would be tied to it. Again,
Atlanta Hawks, I get Atlanta, the city totally get makes sense.

Like I mean, I know they would be and that's
part of their communities.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
People go, people go for lunch, people go with business
suits on, people go at night. You know, shoot, I
read Young Gus, But let me telling epic stories in there.
But let me tell you.

Don't think the NBA when they saw that it sold
out in twenty four hours or whatever, it was.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
Oh yeah, they might be going, do you know what
I mean? It turned around knowing wink wink, we shouldn't
be doing it.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
But but I think that that softens the blow. Would
you would you admit like like you not to agree
with the no no, no, But I'm just saying like
they did.

But then it's like, there aren't we didn't see these
stories of people.

Picking it outside the arena State Farm Arena saying we
don't want this in our time.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
Do you know what I mean?

Disrespect Chili like that? Well, Chili was out there. He
was the only one. He was out there, dang it.
Chili brought his fam and they were out there. But
you get my point. Thought, Yeah, it wasn't a fun
I must I'm not shooting. I got people down there
to any fuss. Rob did you see in Atlanta? Like
that's none. So but if there's an opposing player, I'm
just hying with double. In this case, we know there's one.

And h he's the only one that if there is

Know, like the game in which I'm playing is associated
with that like, I'm just coming in town, varked game.

Then I just Monday having to be Magic City.

So Jonathan Isaac It plays for the Orlando Malay. He
is a Christian. He does speaking engagements famously. Uh preach
that a local church and none of his teammates shut
up and that was a big deal.
Speaker 8 (37:37):
But I'm sure he's not happy about it.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
Okay, don't go.
Speaker 8 (37:41):
He plays for the other team. All Right, he's not good.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
I've actually shocked he hasn't.

It's early because we got a couple of weeks, but
I'll be he definitely gonna speak up. He he goes
speaking about everything.

That's fine and everybody. You can't please everybody. The bottom
line is it's a part of that community. It fits in.
I'm not surprised that's sold out like it did. I'm
not surprised the hoodies are going off, the off the shelves.
I'm not any of that stuff doesn't surprise me because
it's a different place, and I wish I could go,
