(00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. It is The Odd Couple.
I'm Chris Bruce are We got VJ. Husky in for
Rob Parker, our number two of a three hour tour.
Three hour show. We got Mike Golick, Junior of DraftKings
(00:46):
List there. He'll join us at the bottom of this hour.
That is sure to be a lot of fun. So
keep it locked right here. We're gonna have a great
time with you this hour. All right, let's go to football. VJ.
We've been talking a lot of NBA and a lot
going on with Lamar Jackson. And the question I want
(01:08):
to ask is is the shine off of Lamar? Hear
me out. We just saw that he was not rated
as a top ten quarterback in a recent ESPN poll.
Now this isn't media, mind you, This isn't ESPN mind you,
(01:33):
This was coaches in the NFL scouts, executives and players.
Those were the ones who were surveyed, and they left
Lamar out of the top ten. And then you have
got Bernard Pollard, but wasn't a awesome player, not a
(01:57):
Hall of Famer, not even a pro bowler? What was
the starter with the Ravens and won a Super Bowl
with the Ravens. And he got on social media yesterday
Twitter and when at Lamar, rob G shares some of
these these tweets, things that he said about Lamar Jackson. Well,
(02:19):
the first tweet he put out that Lamar two, he
was say he was a safety and a super Bowl
champion with the Ravens. As a matter of fact, first
tweet he put out Lamar didn't see but I think
that was the worst one. Here's what you said. He's
definitely a top ten talent, but as far as the
top ten quarterback, I don't see it. I believe you
should get paid by the Ravens and should get top dollar. Though. Now,
obviously people started to push back because he is a
(02:42):
Ravens quote unquote legend, and at one point, this is
the one that got Lamar really upset. He said all caps,
no top wide receiver will have would come there while
al j is there. Play wide receivers have been available
to get in the offseason where al Jay has been starting,
but nobody wants to go. They give him the respect,
but they don't want to play with him. Alja is good,
(03:04):
but he's not able to make them throws well. And
and VJ before you go. First of all, he makes
a strong point in that receivers aren't going to Baltimore.
I mean ju Juice Smith Schuster turned them down, Kenny
Golla Day turned them down. I think there was a
(03:26):
receiver in Indie Indianapolis. I think that turned them down
as well. And then Hollywood Brown, Lamar's friend left right
to go to Arizona. And so that is true. And
as much as dudes like and respect Lamar if I'm
a receiver and I know my bread is, but first
(03:47):
of all, I'm competitive and I want to be an
all pro. I want to be the best receiver I
can be. I want to have ten balls strow my
way every game. I want to go deep all that stuff.
I gotta be honest. I like Lamar, but he's not
He's not close to my first choice. And so there's
(04:08):
that and then the fact that Bernard Pollard even went
at Lamar like that, because usually dudes don't go at
him like that. Former players, current players, even if they
feel what Bernard is feeling, they they tend to defend Lamar.
(04:28):
And so I didn't like I said, this is the
question I want to pose to you. All of this
evidence is the shine slipping off of Lamar Jackson? Absolutely not,
absolutely not. This is this is a all right, let's
start with the top ten. Listen, there's a poll. Okay,
(04:51):
not it's it's so people in the league don't matter,
don't matter. It's just number Well, he was number one.
It matter not well to me, No, it didn't. It
didn't matter. Then it didn't matter that these polls don't
matter because you still got to go on the field
on Sundays. You still gotta buckle your chin strap and
strap on your shoulder pads and go play football man
verse man. So these polls don't mean nothing. That's number one.
(05:12):
Number two. Paulard can say what he wants to say,
his freedom of speak. You can say what you want
to say, but to say that no receiver wants to
play with him, So you speaking for all these other
grown men. Now you speaking for all these other receivers people,
is there evidence I hear you? I mean, of course
he don't speak for every single receiver is yeah, Okay,
(05:36):
he didn't. He didn't go to them. Did they offer
him what the Giants offered him? No, the deal wasn't
even close to what he got offered from Baltimore. So
that's why he didn't go to Baltimore. He didn't go
to Baltimore because of Lamar Jackson. I bet you he
probably wish you would have. Now he's playing with David
Come on, Daniel Jones over Lamar Jackson. Okay, so we
can scrap him. Hollywood Brown left. Okay, Yeah, he's still
had ninety one catches last year. He still call. He
(06:00):
tweeted today, he tweeted and defended him. He's like, dude,
it's just not my so easy to do that after you.
But he said that beforehand. Tho. He was like, there
was rumors that he even said before he got traded,
he just didn't like the system. It wasn't Lamar Jackson.
He doesn't like the system that he's playing. Before c
Ain gonna come out and say it, then, why would
he come out and defend him. He could have just
stayed quiet. Then Chris, that's his boy. Well okay, so
(06:23):
really they boys, Okay, there boys. So Danny, I'm pretty
sure he didn't leave because of Lamar Jackson. Now, you
you can be boys with somebody and still not want
to play with him or work with him. That's that's true.
That's not that's not what that's not what the Laws
of Power book teaches us. But okay, if that's what,
If that's the route people want to go, fine, This
is still a league MVP. This is still a man
(06:43):
that had his team at the number one seed in
the AFC last year in November when he got hurt
with the most injuries on any roster, a record NFL
starting day roster with sixteen guys on IR and he
still had them at the number one seed in the
AFC in November when he got hurt. It is amazing
(07:04):
to me. Russell Wilson's on this list? Are we are? We?
Are we going back to like four or five years
or is that what we're doing? Because last year he
got hurt, he didn't play, so well, how's he still
a top ten guy? I guess he had he had
he had twenty five touchdowns and six interception. Lamar had
sixteen and thirteen. Okay, he was here within the league
and passer rating, he played injury. They it's all on him.
(07:31):
I mean he'd been carrying that team for seven eight
years and Lamar and Lamar's not carrying the Ravens since
he'd been there. Nat Look you think, no, I think
Lamar should have been in the top ten. Okay, don't
give me Russell Wilson though, Okay, give me give me
Deshaun Watson, who we don't know what he could come
out and don't see him again. That can come out
(07:52):
with you. That could come out too, for sure. Yeah,
but don't give me Russell wasn't And I'm look, I'm
not saying Lamar is still not. Like I said, I
still think he should have been in the top ten,
no doubt. My point is the shine, like the adoration,
all of that, and you gotta admit he has. His
(08:14):
play has declined in each of the last two seasons.
I don't that's a fact. No, no, no. He won
a road he went into Tennessee and won a road
playoff game the year before last. Hold On, he went
touchdowns his his touchdowns have declined, his interceptions have increased
(08:36):
by same same energy with everybody, who would it just
any just any player. You ain't gonna come on here
and accuse me of not keeping the same energy. Everybody say,
I'm okay, boy, you just did it with Russ. Russ
number twenty five and six last year. That was last year.
(08:58):
Is it declined from the year before? Was it on
the year before that before he was forty and thirteen.
That's well, he didn't play as many games, and he
had fewer interceptions, and it's passer rating. Like I said,
he was fifth in the league and passing play as
many games. The point I'm making it Lamar had more
in the second Yeah, No, Lamar didn't play as many
(09:20):
games last year. In twelve games last year, he had
thirteen picks in fifteen games. A year before he had
nine six the year before. So that means the shines
off of him. Well, I don't mean he's not good.
I was meaning like there was a time when he
was like everybody was like Lamar. In fact, they were
(09:42):
talking about Lamar mahomes is you know what the next
manning uh Brady And he was rated number one by
the players as the best player in the league and
things like that. So I don't mean he's still not
a good player. But now, and like I said, there's
a time, ain't nobody pushing back on Lamar Jackson even
if you felt that way inside you were saying something positive,
(10:05):
you were defending him. But now, that's all I'm saying.
The fact that now you got a player coming out
for that franchise or a former player for that franchise
saying what Bernard Powler said, the fact that the players
didn't put him in the top ten, That's all I'm saying.
I'm just saying kind of the perception like he is
he still is he no longer the it guy that
(10:29):
he was just a few years ago. That's That's what
I'm asking. Can he still play? Okay listen? And it's funny,
Rob G and I were talking about this before before
we got on air today. Hero it's one or two things.
It's either envy or jealousy or Lamar Jackson to me,
reminds me a lot of how people like talked about
Cam Newton. It feels like people are just waiting because
(10:51):
he doesn't fit the certain mold image wise as an
NFL quarterback that a lot of people wouldn't like their
quarterback to fit. Let's just let's just call it with y'all.
Keep it real on the Ard couple. Okay, let's keep
it really real. He doesn't fit that. So you're way,
you have a group of people, trust me think, well
I do? I do. I think that's it, and I
think that because they it ain't they it's his His
(11:13):
style of play puts him in danger. Man, every any
you're in danger when you're playing. Look at of course,
but don't act like being a running quarterback a small
one at that does not put you in more harm
than being a pocket pass. Okay, so what are we
talking about that Cam Newton, who's twice the size of
(11:35):
Lamar Jack. My point is Bernard Powler was saying, you
got to throw from the pocket more, you got to
throw outside the numbers more. The way he said it
wasn't really cool. But I do think that's some constructive
criticism that Lamar needs to look at. No, that wasn't
(11:55):
constructive though. That wasn't constructive at all, exact way he said.
But the point he's made. But I'm pretty sure Chris,
there's somebody in that quarterback room. I'm pretty sure there's
somebody in that quarterback room that has that is showing
him these tapes. He's seeing this, he's got It's been
one year. He was hurt last year Christ the year before,
(12:16):
twelve game the year before, but he was still hurt
though he played a lot of that seat, He played
a lot of last seas Hurd with all his weapons
pretty much depleted around him, and every defense knowing it,
every defense knowing you're down to your fourth running back.
You have a rookie receiver over here, and you got
one guy Hollywood Brown, and you have a tough rookie.
I mean, you can't just say that, are you skies
(12:36):
bad damage? Hold on, rookies come into the league doing damage.
I know. But a lot of Batman is not bad. No,
not come on, man, not bad. Okay, he's not bad.
Does that mean that we're really game playing on defense
from him on a Sunday for a receiver, that's not
bad if you're tightovers receiver is not bad. But I
hear I hear a lot of excuses. No, I hear
(12:57):
a lot of nitpickings too. Then a lot of what
we do all right? This So then I'm a defending nippick.
Is it nickpicking to say sixteen touchdown passes thirteen interceptions
isn't good? It's nicking. It's nim picking to look at
one year and if everybody jumping on him, it's too
My point, I just want a playoff game. Christ the
year before on the road breaker, Mayfield won the playoff
(13:20):
game a couple of years, sure, then I'm sure the
end off be all. That's not what and if he
had been, he never want to play off. My point
was this two since he won the unanimous MVP, he
has declined. His passing numbers and his rushing numbers have declined.
(13:42):
That's what I'm saying. Answered that, you can't just sit
here and say you know that. Okay, I got I
got an answer. I got an answer for you. When
you win the MVP the way he did, you don't
think that defenses in the off season don't make sure
that they keep more around stopping you when you don't
even have like perennial perimeter pro ball type players. If
they get him some helping get him some perennial guys
(14:05):
on a penne guys turned them down, Listen, I can't
listen I can't talk for the guys that turned them down,
But I'm not gonna let y'all sit here and say
it was because it was Lamar Jackson. That's the point
I'm making. I'm not gonna let Smith Schuster turn him down.
What did they all from? He didn't get money from nobody.
That's why he went back to Pittsburgh. He didn't get
money from nobody he thought he was gonna get. Believe,
(14:25):
Rob G, weren't they offering him more money than Pittsburgh?
I think they offered him? Huh? What was it? Rob G?
Get it an? According to one report, he turned down
nine and a half million dollars with another three and
a half million, and it sent this from Baltimore to
take eight million from the Steelers. Okay, a million dollars,
no eleven. The three is a centive though, Rob A
(14:48):
million and a half? Thank you so? And that's still
it's more money? Oh my god? Okay, I mean, okay,
that's subjective. He turned down more money to stay in Pittsburgh.
What what is it true about that? You know, it's
true that he turned out more money. It's true that
(15:09):
he turned out more money. But if you're gonna sit
and try to tell me that one point at one point,
that one that one point eight million or one point
whatever was the reason. I don't know how you live
in but one point eight million dollars is pretty good.
That's a good amount of money when you're only making nine.
It ain't like you different. It was twenty five verse
twenty six million. I'm not buying it. And you guys
(15:30):
are all change your two. You're all changer two. You're
all change your two. I'm not down or lamar all
I'm saying. I'm just pointing out facts. You're just speaking
off emotion, you know. I'm facts over feelings. No, it's not.
It feels not about facts on a teenage hold of
(15:50):
it's not about that. It's not about facts and feelings
because it's a fact. After facting. All you can say
is I'm not buying it. No, because because anybody, because
anybody can just throw out Okay, he had this mini
ste she had this many numbers. Tell the whole football
as a team, Tell the whole story. That's the point.
I may tell the whole story. Tell me how many players,
I tell me how many players were hurt? No, no no, no,
(16:11):
there are how many? How many how many people would
hurt on that roster last game, how I write then,
but it also will affect how your quarterback and how
your team is gonna go. That's been the game, Chris.
Is that what you're saying for Baker Mayfield? As far
as far as last year, it goes Yeah, when you're
playing with a bump shoulder, heck yeah, as a quarterback,
yeah it matters, Okay, yeah, it matters. Well, why don't
(16:33):
you give Russell Wilson that benefit of the doubt when
he came back from injury early and played probably at
least three, if not least three, if not four games
with a bad finger, with a horrible offensive line, and
still gave you twenty five and six. First of all,
I didn't go against Russell. I just told him no, no no,
(16:53):
I said no, no no, no, no. I would take him, Yeah,
I would take Can we talk about five years like
I would take him? Exactly? Because if you're in the
top ten right now, you ain't talking about last year,
I'm talking about last year. Well, then Russell Wilmon is
not a top ten quarterback this seawan and Russell Wilson
is not a top ten quarterback. If you're talking about
last year. No, he's not. I could take three of
(17:13):
those guys out. Oh no, I could take this Seawan
and and why and the Dak out. You just agree
with me that he's a top ten quarterback, putting. You
just agree with me Lamar's the top ten quarterback. I
do agree, Okay, don't think he's ahead of Russell Wilson.
I do, I do, and I mean and base Russell
Wilson had a better year last year than Lamar. Cha. Yeah,
(17:35):
he also had DK Metcalfe and Tyler Lockett in the
worst offensive line in the league. That's cool. You still
got targes to throw in the perimeter to though, Chris, Well,
how much time you got, Well, I need I need
time to get to those target That's why you play
his ability to move. Now, obviously Lamar can move too,
but here's a Billy move. There's no doubt he's a
better You're not comparing no receivers to DK Metcalfe to
(17:55):
Tyler Lockett. I'm sorry that I don't know no two
good receivers. But I also need an offense of line. Okay,
either one. If the line don't give me any time,
then it don't matter who I got out there. Well,
Lin Baltimore had last year better than Seattle, really you
think so? Oh? Absolutely? With the injuries. Nay, okay, all right, absolute, okay,
all right, it's the eye. It's getting hot up in here,
and I don't I didn't have Rob is bad because
(18:18):
we went lock. No, sorry, Rob, coming away. Foxs Fox

in a moment. But first I gotta say this. We're
talking about Lamar and receivers Juju Smith Schuster turning down
more money from Baltimore to go back to Pittsburgh. T
Y Hilton. I knew it was another receiver. T Y
Hilton also turned down more money to stay in Indianapolis
then go to Baltimore. He was on the Pat McAfee show,
(20:06):
said he turned down more money from Baltimore to stay
in Indy. So there's that. Fox Sports Radio has the

all right, thank you, Steve. It is the I couple,
(20:27):
Chris Brusar vj Husky in for Rob Parker. We got
Mike Golick, junior of DraftKings joining us in a moment
as we wait on him, let's go. Can I address
the t Y Hilton thing? Yeah? Yeah, okay, you got
to say y'all got something to say, Yeah, got something
to say, because yeah, not just old, not just old,
(20:50):
not just old. But at that point there's a lot
of things that's going factor and say that you can't
wrap a ball, oh yeah, old, not just productive minims.
Oh oh h h oh no, no, yeah he was
he joke like that man, you look, no, I was
taking his job anyway. But and not only that. When
(21:11):
you think about an older guy or guy that has
been settled in the league in one city, going sowhere,
there's a lot of variables. What if he was like, well, damn,
I don't even why even listen, I don't even want
to because you're always gonna listen, really ain't Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
stop stop stop free agent listen If I look, it's
you just mentioned older. He sat in a city. Why
(21:31):
why am I wasting my time. If I don't want
to leave you still you still don't list be more money?
And I still said no, yeah, but you still listen.
You still listen up? Okay? Is they offered him more
money and he said no? Okay? So then so then
I'll ask you this because you keep using that. So
I asked you this. Did they say no because of
(21:51):
Lamar Jackson in the year opinion? Yes or no? Yes? Okay?
So then now you're backtracking on what you said earlier.
You said that wasn't the case. When did I say
that or when we started talking? I said, you can't
tell me these guys didn't go there. You're not gonna
blame that all Lamar Jackson off of what Pollard saying.
This is all coming off him saying these other receivers
don't want to do don't want to go play. That's
a good point, because I said Kenny Golladay turned him
(22:15):
down to go play with the Giants, t Y Hilton
turned down more money to go play with Indianapolis UH
and then turned down more money to stay in Pittsburgh,
and then Hollywood Brown left. So you say, and I'm
asking you, you say, you think it's because of because
they don't like Lamar, but because he's not as much
(22:36):
of a passing quarterbacks A. Sorry, we can hang out,
play video games, kick it, but if you ain't throwing
the rock and I'm a receiver, okay, I want to
go somewhere when I'm gonna get more passed. I'm serious,
Daniel Joe that way. No, I mean, I think that
was a mistake by Golladay. But even if you want
to take him out, you still can't take out t
(22:58):
Y Hilton, who picked Arson freaking Wins and Juju Smith
Foods think Ben freaking Roethlisberger his ancient age. So I'm
just saying, like you can't look, I agree with you
Lamar's top ten. I think that that pole was wrong.
I agree with you. I would put him. I would
(23:18):
definitely take him over Dak Prescott and what we know.
You know, with the state of Deshaun Watson, obviously I
take him over him. But I'm just saying you you're
not acknowledging other truths like you. You can't just brush
aside that dudes literally turned down more money to go
(23:39):
somewhere else. That receiver's only concern is money, And am
I gonna get the rock. It's it okay, And you
didn't give me. I never said what you said, so
I don't know what you're talking about. No, no, no, no,
you did it. You did. But what he did say
(24:01):
I brought the whole thing up. I said, Bernard Poler
brought this up, that they're not gonna get a good receiver.
I said, look, he got a point because such and
such and such and such and such and such turned
them down. And I'm telling you that's not and it's
not because of Lamar. It's not because of it's not
because of Lamar. I think, Jude, listen, Juju to go
(24:22):
to Baltimore from the Stealers. Why do you even listen? Then?
Come on, come on, we got all right, we got
this is he throwing you a lifeline because this was
getting my goodness? All right? It is the Eye Couple.
We got VJ. Husky in for Rod Parker, and our
guest is here. He's with Draft Kings, the NFL analyst
(24:43):
for them and co host of The Go Joe Show.
That's the podcast, Mike Goldlick Junior. Mike, how are you man?
Welcome to the Eye Couple. I'm doing great. I appreciate
you guys having me. Thank you, good to have you brother.
All right. Let we were just talking about Lamar Jackson
being out of the top ten of that latest ESPN
(25:03):
poll of coaches, executive, scouts and players. We both we
disagreed on where he should be, but we both thought
he should definitely be in the top ten. Where were
you at with Lamar in that poll? I agree with
you guys, and I think for me because you know,
the rule always has to be, if you're gonna put
someone in, you got to take him out. Based on
what we've seen lately, I'd be pretty comfortable swapping him
(25:26):
out for Russell Wilson. For Russell Wilson over the last
couple of years has certainly been equal parts what has
always gone on in Seattle, the butting of heads ideology
wise with him and Pete Carroll, but also a bunch
of instances of Russell Wilson not playing up to the
standard that he had played up to for so long.
And so he's still in that range, and I think
(25:48):
we all agreed this year he's going to be a
guy that takes a step ahead. But again, if I'm
factoring and everything we've seen leading up to this and
not just projecting forward. Then I would absolutely have Lamar Jackson.
Who remember, Lamar Jackson through the first half of last
season looked like the unquestioned MVP of the league based
on the injury that team and absorbed and what he
was able to do with it. Well, I would say, Dad,
(26:11):
I'd have him ahead of Dak and Deshaun, not Russ.
But I go ahead, VJ. You just made Vj's day. Hey,
it's going on, colo Ji. How you doing, buddy, man,
it's great, it's great to talk to you. Man. I
agree with you with the whole Russ sting and if
we could, let's weak get to Denver this year. You
think he's gonna take a step forward. I'm on the
side that I don't think Denver is as good as
(26:32):
it's gonna be as good as everybody else thinks they do.
I don't like the schedule. Oh by the way, they're
at Baltimore late in the season, so we'll get that
head to head matchup between Russ and Lamar Jackson. They
also had Tennessee. They have to come to the Rams
at the Niners. They have some tough road games. Receivers
couldn't really stay healthy last year and giving up Noah
Fan was huge to me in that trade with Seattle,
and I know both running backs have um I have,
(26:54):
are liable to put the ball on the turf. Also,
I think it's like seven coupbine fumbles between the two
of them. Do you like them as much as everybody
else does? Are you filling me at about maybe ten
eleven wins? So I still think a lot. I think
I'm more in line with you because again I look
in that division and I'm still not ready to say
that you know they're contending for the top of that division,
and I'll go even a step further. I think the
(27:16):
most perplexing move for me, And I remember getting text
from my friends that a Broncos fans the same thing.
Let Mike munschet go as the offensive line coach was
a head scratcher than me. That had been a guy
that had done so much in getting a guy like
Garrett Bowls to play up to a higher standard. It
also helped that the league was a little more leady
calling holding penalties along the offensive line. But when you
look at why I always thought this was going to
(27:37):
be such an attract if it was Russ is because
you had one of the best, I'd probably say one
of the five best offensive line coaches in professional football
helping get them coached up upfront and allowing that group
to be a place that would be appealing to a
guy in russ who once they traded for Jimmy Graham
in Seattle and went through with that and left Max
Unger go to the New Orleans Saints. They really decline
(28:00):
in that organization's dedication to protecting their quarterback. That was
going to be part of the appeal for me, and
now it's part of the thing that in a division
with as many skilled pass rushers as are in the
AFC West, it's part of the reason that worries me
a little bit. That could be the difference between them
potentially challenging the Chargers and Chiefs of the world and
then sitting firmly in third that division. Mike, how do
(28:22):
you think the quarterback competition in Carolina plays out? Baker
may feel Sam Darnold. I think Baker Mayfield healthy, Baker
ends up being the starter for that team. We've never
seen Sam Darnold play at a level consistently that we've
seen from Baker Mayfield in certain years. Right rookie year,
and then that twenty twenty or twenty twenty season when
(28:42):
he was able to lead the Browns to the playoffs
for the first time, and god knows how long. I
just think that for all the conversations we've had about
Baker and he hasn't done himself any favors, clearly in
the inner personal department, the leadership department, as was evidenced
by a lot of the conversation that went on around
the Odell Beckhams that you asian last year, and certainly
when we saw that thing sputter and start leaguing oil
(29:04):
at the end of the season for the Browns overall.
But when he's healthy, and that was a big part
of last year that we don't talk about as much anymore.
When he's healthy, I still think he can be a
good to very good quarterback. And at this point that's
more than we can say for Sam Darnold. I understand
he went to the Jets. I understand he's had a
bunch of different coaches since then, But at this point,
I think he's so far into his NFL career without
(29:27):
having experienced a lot of top end success that it's
going to get harder and harder for me to believe
that he can beat out a quarterback who has displayed
that in this league in a consistent basis. The Bill
seem to be the toast of everybody's picks this year,
that Alan is the top pick with Draft Kings with
you guys as far as winning the MVP, to pick
the win in division, to pick the winn AFC and
(29:48):
there picked the come out of the AFC and go
to the Super Bowl? Are you buying the Bills with
the running game that's been ranked below twenty five to
last three years in a row. You bring in Von Miller,
you give him a huge still late in his career.
Josh Allen needs to take this stuff. You got Stefan
dis you have weapons, right, Okay, everybody thinks a coin
flip is the reason why they didn't go to the
Super Bowl last year? But are you buying the Bills?
(30:11):
Oliver Air? Draft Kings is like everybody else's. Are you
kind of saying I still gotta see it? Yeah? Listen Now,
I reserve the right to change things until I gets
to the NFL preview episodes of the Gojo podcast coming,
But I will say as where we sit here in
the offseason. Right now, the Bills have been my pick
to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. I think
(30:31):
what we saw last year was a quarterback really see
the game slow down for him, because so much of
what we mentioned is to help for Josh Allen, and
I remember talking to the guys from Football Outsiders, the
guys that have used this more statistically. More of last
year was Josh Allen kind of willing that team beyond
what some of those other areas were producing. But like
you said, it's all starting to come together a little
(30:53):
bit more now. Defensively, that was one of the best
units in football for last year, and I really think
that von Miller acquisition was huge because we saw it's
a razor thin margin between them and the very best
in the AFC, and a guy like von Miller indicates
to me that, yes, well, you've got a bunch of
depths up front on that defense to pair with maybe
(31:14):
the best secondary in football. You needed someone, especially in
the postseason, who had that next gear. And right now
they got a bunch of very good guys Greg Rousseau
and some of these young players up on that defensive front.
But now you've got someone for them to all look
to and learn from a guy who has done it
on the highest level, who is just there in this
same role for the Rams last season, and so I
(31:35):
think that, combined with Josh Allen really continuing that trajectory
that no one could have predicted and leading that offense,
I think that ends up right now being the difference
for me. They've got certified difference makers and so many
different parts of this team, including and not limited to
drafting the punk god himself, Mattareisa late in the they
(31:56):
have earned the love and recessive college football Twitter forever
picking that San Diego State leg Howitzer in the sixth round.
We all love him for that. Mike last thing before
you go, and we got about a minute for your answer,
Trey Lance, I'm here conflicting reports. He's looking great. I'm
here to rebuilding his throwing motion and his accuracy as
a question mark, what do you expect to see from
(32:18):
him in San Francisco this year? I expect Trey Lance
to make a few big mistakes, but ultimately I expect him,
in one of the most quarterback friendly offenses that exist
in the NFL, to make that accuracy thing not as
big a deal and to show us a couple of
those big plays that have separated San Francisco in the
past from the super Bowl. They're looking for with Jimmy Garoppolo.
(32:40):
They're not gonna be there yet, but you're gonna see
flashes of those plays and why they mortgage their future
for him. All right, that's Mike Golick Junior of Draft Kings.
You can also check him out on the Gold Joe Show.
It's a podcast. Great stuff, man, We appreciate the time.
Thanks for having me, Guys appreciate it, Yes, sir, Yeah,
all right, that's Mike Golick Junie. Your folks at the

we talked about Kyrie. You got him in the top
(34:09):
ten when he's healthy. Yes, I love his game, I
love his ability, uh, individually, but I think when it
comes to I don't have him as a top ten player,
and I throw. I told you i'd write down some names,
not in order, but Jason Tatum, Kevin Durant, Joe l
m b Jannis uh Yokich, Lebron Steph, Luca Kawhi. I'd
(34:33):
still take a D over Kyrie. I take Paul George
over Kyrid In. There's a group that you know you
can haggle over John Morant, Devin Booker, Donovan, Mitchell, Lillard,
butler Um. But we wanted to talk about a D.
They don't have a D in their top ten. You
good with that? No, not at all, because he's in
(34:54):
he's in my top ten. I'm not sure where this
is coming from him. I guess this is just like
that football pole I told you about it. It's a pole,
it's it's a list of people's a little opinions that
really don't need nothing. He was hurt last year, so
we're going off of last year. Okay, but if that's
what is, if that's what we're doing, then yeah. But
we know when he's when he's on the court. Like
the bubble year, he led that team, that Laker team
(35:16):
with Lebron and points, rebounds and blocks. The only thing
he didn't lead him in was assistant steals. He led
him in three categories. He was clearly the best player
on that team on both ends of the floor. And
we know that's still in him. He's a top ten player.
I'm not sure. I'm not sure what this is about
at all. And just so you know, you're ten guys
you threw out. I had Yanni's KD lebron A D, Luca, Kawhi,
(35:37):
MB joke gets Steph and Kyrie. The only guy you
and I have different is Tatum. You have Tatum. You
don't have Tatum ahead of No Wow, No Tatum just
outplayed Kevin Durant. Well one serious doesn't was just the
best player on the team to reach the finals. Tatum
(36:01):
has been to three was he won an Eastern Conference title.
And Tatum has been to three Eastern Conference finals Kyrie
and I love Oh yeah, I'm trying to down him.
Three hasn't won anything without Lebron. How are you playing
the finals? That's the number two guys? Howay? Here's he's great?
(36:26):
Tatum was great finals? Oh? I thought you meant Kyrie.
Kyrie was great with Lebron. He's twenty seven, five and
six and his thirteen the number two guys right as
the number two guys Lebron, Tatum's a number one on
a team that could win the Eastern Conference championship. Kyrie's
not a number one, He's a number two. When he
was the number one guy in Cleveland, they were horrible.
(36:47):
When he's the number one guy in Boston, they were
worse with him than without him. They just replaced him
with a guy that's worse than him, Marcus Martin, And
we're a better team. And yes, I think Kyrie feels
like he's the number one guy in Brooklyn because he
is the strongest personality, and Kay, the's not you know,
that much of a leader, and so you see how
they're not living up to their abilities. And so that's
(37:12):
if you want to talk skills, if you want to
talk a game of one on one short but if
you want to talk winning NBA basketball, I can't put
Kyrie in the top ten. I just haven't seen any evidence.
All right, I'm still putting the top ten, but you're
also putting the variable on that. Listen to how you
listen to how you said that. If we're gonna talk
winning it, we're gonna talk to No. I'm just basketball
(37:34):
players on the court. Top ten guys in the league,
everybody healthy, no excuses. Kyrie will give Jason Tatum straight work.
You don't do it. You know that our game series
and he didn't do it. He wasn't listen. Yeah, the
first game he was grabbed. After that he struggled. I'm
not and we know why he struggle. Listen you Okay,
(37:54):
So I'll last shoot. Do you agree that he probably
shouldn't could have used the whole season two to get
his buddy. That is his own fault. But I didn't
want to the reason why I'm asking it to you
in the question. So if I say it, you don't
say I'm making an excuse. That's why I'm asking it
to you, because that's why I think that as that season,
as that series went on and then this was his
first time where you really already had one thirty years. Yes, yes, yes,
(38:17):
I was. I was saying it all through that series.
My main thing was that he was his first year
um going through Ramada. I thought that was really affecting
his body. His play six two, six, three, one eighty five,
and you're not eating from sun up to sundown at
the longest time and the longest time of sunlight during
a year. I do think, and a lot of people
(38:37):
thinks that that did affect his body and his endorent.
But whose fault is that? That's his? It's his own fault.
I'll hold on. You can't break down basketball only to
dribbling and shooting. It is also intangibles. It is also
basketball character. It is also you know, Kyrie is being
(39:01):
able to handle pressures top ten he's not. He's okay,
I say he's not. Nobody else would say Tatum Tatum
and Tatum Aye top ten Tatum show me that in
the finals Tatum mate top ten. Y'all need to stop
this stuff with Tatum. Serious. Why did Kyrie show you
in the second round against Milwaukee a few years I mean,
they was giving him work until he twisted his ankle.
Or you come on TB. They come on TB. No,
(39:23):
I'm talking about when he was in Boston. Come on, man,
that's two years ago. You're talking about a number one
versus number two
