And Kelvin, of course they should be confident and feel
like they have a chance to win. You don't play
professional sports. You don't get to the finals and go,
oh yeah, we have no shot to win. Uh, and
you got to take it. And he said the right thing.
You got to isolate. You can't win three games on Saturday.
You can only win one game. And I think what
goes into their favor is that they're young, you know

what I mean. Like people are saying the whole year,
the whole postseason, they can't do it. They can't get there,
do you know what I mean? They can't win a
game seven, Kelvin, you didn't think they could go to Okay,
see right and win a game seven and they did.
So all those things are out there and they have
to just continue to do they got a lead. It's

not there's a difference between you ain't ready and you
got run off the court, you know what I mean,
to get your butt kicked or swept, and you were
never really in this series. You never led. You know,
we've seen series where teams are totally overmatched. This is
where they've had leads and they've been in control and
they won a game they won at Madison Square Garden,

you know, like down oh two or whatever it is,
and had a great chance to come back to San
Antonio to two and play really well in the first half,
and just you know, they tanked, they choked in the
second half and lost the game.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
That will probably haunt them until they win.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
A championship and whenby they have a shot, they're gonna
be in the mix going forward.

But this is the right approach.

I'm not gonna be like, oh, I wouldn't have said
anything or whatever. That's not how sports is. They got
to ask the question, do you guys think you can
pull us off? Can you do it? Can you win
and and win this series? And it would be different.
I always remember, forget about the forget about the Cavaliers
coming back. Kelvin three to one right, which was incredible

because the Warriors looked like, Okay, they're good to go.
Even with Draymond Green missing game, he still had two
other games. All they had to do was win. Two
of the three games were at home. They lost Game
seven at home. Steph Curry with the dipsy dudo behind
the back all that, you know, like, I still can't
believe that pass.

was gonna say, instead of looking at that one, the
one I always kind of think about, and this is
me being a baseball guy, is the Yankees had the
Red Sox down three to oh, and that was Kelvin

three to oh, never been done in baseball history, right ever,
and the Yankees to win Game three, which was in Boston, right,
what seven was eighteen to six? The Yankees won eighteen
to six, never won another game and lost and became

that team that gave up a three O lead, a
three O lead, and lost the championship. And that was
during the Yankees' run. You know what I mean of
winning all those World Series, and they have been there before,
done that. Mariano Rivera couldn't get it done. Dave Roberts
was the guy who helped him win that Game four
that got the ball roll and they beat Mariano Rivera.

So my point is that you know, on paper, does
it look like it's an impossible task.

It does.

You can't make a mistake, there's no room for error.
You can't lose a game, can't give away a game,
can't throw the ball out of bounds, or whatever you
want to do. But I think they have the right approach,
which is, we're here, nobody thought we would be here.

We just have to play and.

Take one game at a time and not get caught
up with the daunting idea that you have to win
three games, because you can't win three games at one night.

If we're going by Kenny Atkinson's logic, they analytically have
won this.

They analytically have already won this. And I'm being tongue
in cheap, but I'm also being serious in that. Look,
I picked the Knicks in seven. The Spurs can be
sitting here and saying, man, we should be four to though,
maybe three and one or at leading.

One is you are realistic three and one.

Or at least two, and he could even say maybe
at minimum too and right, because they've led by double
digits in every single one of these games.

They've all played them multiple quarters.

I mean, there's been plenty of times where you're like, oh,
the Spurs look like the better team throughout this series.
They just couldn't close it, or they have a bad stretch,
or they don't call timeouts, or they make a bonehead
to play here or there. And so that's why I
look at this team as they're young and dumb enough
to not look at history, which is thirty seven to one.

We know the one, the twenty sixteen cash.

They're young and dumb enough and have no reference point
rob And I think this is where being young helps them.
They don't have a history, right, if you're James Harden
or a Donovan Mitchell or a Chris Paul or other
guys who people say you never get it done or
you always fall shore right, that stuff plays in your head.

Kobe Bryant even talked about it when he talked about
when he went six for twenty two, seven for twenty two,
he said, I wanted it too much. I was tight,
I was forcing it. You gotta beat the Celtics's history.
It's Lakers, the Celtics' and you do Game seven and
I gotta get this done. I remember, I'm trying to
stack up as many rings as I can't without without
a check to toe them, I can do it. The

Spurs fortunately don't have that, so I think that's easier
for them to kind of hit themselves with the men
in black, low laser, forget it, move on, because they
don't have history behind them. You never get it done.
Weinby twelve years and you ain't won nothing yet. Uh,
Stefan Casser, you're overrated, you know what I mean? Like
they don't have these baggage coming in. They're young, they're hungry,

they're energetic. Hey we lost one, wipe our hands. We
should have had it. So I even as picking the Knicks.
Don't look at the Spurs as a team that's gonna fold.
Don't look at this team as a team that's gonna
be so downtrodden it and and and blue from that
twenty nine point letdown that I fully expecting to come
back and fight and be right there in Game five.

And even if they lose rob it won't be because
all they lost it mentally, they were checked out, they
didn't have the heart. They may lose just because hey,
the Knicks are a good team, and the Knicks have
beat them twice in San Antonio. But it won't be
because they blew a lead. It won't be because they quit.
It won't be because they folded, you know, and just
mailed it in. I think this team is built built

differently than that, So I give them a lot of credit.

And again I think this.

Is where the youth may actually help them in that
I don't have a history of this.

I'm locked in, I'm ready to go and let's go play.

Where sometimes having ten years of experience where you failed
your misshots, you know, James Harden never gets it done.
All that stuff can carry extra weight. They don't have
the baggage or the luggage of history and years in past,
and that can work in their favor.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Yeah, I'm with you. There's no there's no track you know,
they can't do it. Yep, right, there's no. They don't
have a track record. And if anything, if they wanted
to pull back on and grasp anything, couldn't they go.
We just won. We just beat the defending and we
beat them in their building. We we went there. Nobody

gave us a chance at doing that. A few people,
I should say, you know what I mean, gave us
a lust.

Thirty on them, you know.

So Yeah, I just think this team again, even if
they lose Game five, Right, it's been a competitive series,
so it's not far fetched than to lose. But I
just don't think it'll be like other teams have been
broken by something, you know, they are broken by a loss,
broken by a misshot, broken by that. I don't think
they'll be broken if they lose. It'll be just hey,
the next finaling they're on it. Maybe all three of

their guys have a great game at the same time.
But I just don't think even though somebody who picked
the Knicks to win the whole thing, I give this
first team credit that. I don't think that is what
they'll I think they're built differently than just simply, you know,
being a broken team, and I expect some resilient and
the pushback and a fight from them, and again short
history work in their favor.

does help. They've been up double digits every game in
the all four games, so I think there is for them,
like we should be in a better position, and I
think they'll carry that into game five.

And the other thing is, I think what's being missed
is the way to grow soccer in this country. I
truly believe is through video game. You reach the kids
through video games. My kids, who are in their teenage years,
argue with me about players from the eighties and nineties

in the NBA because they love NBA two K and
so they are aware of, you know, all the previous
eras they've learned the rules of the game. I mean
they watched the real game as well, but they're off.
They learned a lot through a crash course of being
able to play video ga.

Hey, Rob, let me jump in real quick. I'm gonna
tell you something, how accurate you are. When I was
at the other place, they did a huge study on
all of this. And we're in the meeting and I said,
did FIFA World Cup the game FIFA I have anything
to do with kind of this, Like they're starting to
see a surge and popularity of soccer, And they said, absolutely.

People playing FIFA the video game gets these young people
into it. So now they see the game, the matches,
and they know the players, they know the skill, they
know that the offensive sets.

So you're one thousand percent correct about it.

I thought I was a crazy question I asked some
years back, and they said, absolutely, FIFA the game.

go crazy on advertising for the FIFA game. Get those
kids into it, and then we'll truly see the game

your town and and you saw it firsthand. When the
Knicks went to the second round with Rick Carlisle, they
did the pistons, the pistons, pistons, I mean pistons, yep.
And they still made a change because they thought that

they could improve that coaching spot.

And I'm not saying I know who's out there available,
but you have to take a serious look and go,
can we get somebody who's better now? Not hoping he

Like I thought they were Like I think they thought, man,

didn't have a chance, then you could grow with the coach.

look at that, and if we coach better, would we

kind of shake it off, like I didn't expect to
be here as a franchise.

to move forward. But I think they look at their
team now like, oh, we got a for real championship

The door open, and the Knicks had to make plays
and make baskets.

And no one's taking anything away from the Knicks having
to make the plays in the baskets to win that game.
I just thought that was as bad of a coaching
job and that I had seen. I can't believe you
would be up twenty five and take nine straight threes
and you shot the lights out of it.

You know, basketball is a way of even evening out
the percentages. You're not going to shoot seventy five percent
from three. The entire game. What what what did you
take away from that?

Uh? The Aaron Fox making like the biggest bonehead playoffs
scene where you have the ball and the lead?

Yeah, what I took away is all these things can
be true. Nicks are resilient, but the Spurs, you know,
coughed it up and handed all these things the silver plattern.
They didn't get in their own way, they would have
secured the lead. You mentioned about Aaron Fox. That was
I think one of the most boneheaded players I've ever
seen in NBA playoff history. You run out the clock.
It doesn't matter how fast you are.

You have the lead.

You got to protect it.

You got them.

You have the lead and the ball mark And that
even makes sense.

Yes, and even in today's NBA statistically they'll say, Okay,
it can be for a championship, you got to make
the reason. But if you're I'm not making him. You
got to play percentages. I was there when the Rockets
and the Warriors played in twenty eighteen, when Houston missed
twenty seven consecutive threes at some point you got to
go to plan B. So Rob, I know that you've

loved giving Mike Brown nicknames as Charlie Brown. But I'm
not sure if you're aware of this, but Mitch Johnson
apparently was known as the Maestro growing up because he
was seen as this person that knows how to make
all these intelligent decisions. That was the opposite of Mais
Strow decisions of the three point ball. And look, I
(29:34):
get through the series, maybe at least Game one, giving
him some grace of going with the Aaron Fox of
the VET having trust, but at some point you got
to go with what's working. And Dylan Harper's clearly the
better player. It's not time to be political that you
did that during the regular season. So it's been a
lot of shortcomings across the board.
Speaker 7 (29:54):
Yeah, you mentioned that Dylan Harper when I brought that
up to Rob after I believe it was Game one
where he didn't play him down the stretch and he
had played so well, he didn't play him at all,
and I think.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
He's stuck in that. Well, these are my starters.
Speaker 7 (30:06):
I have to close the game with my starters when
it's really like use him like mine new Genobili. You
got the proto type. He might not start, but Dad
gone for sure He's gonna finish. And that's what I
would like to see. With Dylan Harper, he's been incredible.
But let me also ask you this. I go to
the next side of things, and I don't know if
there's been a more resilient team over the last two
or three years where they just keep doing that.

Rob bought up of Boston Celtics.
Speaker 7 (30:30):
Last year, the Knicks down twenty in Game one and
Game two, they come back in both of those.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
They come back against Cleveland last series.
Speaker 7 (30:38):
I mean, what is it about this team that until
is triple zeros, They are like, we can still win
this team.
Speaker 10 (30:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (30:45):
Well, to be clear, I mean both things can be true,
but I have to establish the copy of both. Last season.
This season, you know, their playoff opponents had a lot
of flaws, injuries, shortcomings, so that was a factor. But
as far as what's controllable with the Knicks, their efforts
always consistent. And you know they have quote unquote stars
(31:06):
with Jalen Brunson and Karlanthone Towns, but a they aren't
always playing like stars, but be they play as a
team it's not about who's getting the ball, how many
shots are people getting their identity starts on the defensive
end as well as you know, making hustle plays and
having good ball movements. So you know, that's helped them
(31:27):
overcome leads, help them overcome karnthone Towns, fout trouble, overcome
slow starts for Jalen Brunson from a shooting standpoint. So
all those things are good and you need that in
the NBA playoffs. And you contrast that with the Spurs.
They're not handling adversity.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
Well.
Speaker 13 (31:46):
They're getting by because they're very talented, they're very athletic,
and they have depth. But you know, to my surprise,
I knew, okay, this is our first playoff experience, but
they seemed pretty mature for their age during the regular season,
and they also have some established veterans like Daron Fox.
But during these playoffs, even with the thunder series, I
(32:07):
haven't seen their resiliency or you know, their kind of
mental ford sat together and it's being a factor. It's
been more about their talent tearing everything.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Let me let me say this, when you talk about
even the Knicks coming back from these leads, when they
beat the Celtics. The Celtics miss seventy five out of
one hundred and three pointers. You know, like Kevin, when
you talk about teams coming back, there's always a factor
of when you shoot threees, you give people easy baskets
on the other end of the floor, Like it's a
(32:38):
recipe to give up a big lead if you're not
making them, and you just keep forcing the issue. How
about Jalen Brunson has not been efficient by any stretch
of the imagination, but I think they will go out
of their way unless he has an awful clinching.

Game to give him the MVP.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Would would Og be somebody you would vote for or
would I think kat was to talk the first couple
of games when they help win be down.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
Where are you was? As far as potentially being an MVP?

Yeah, I don't. I mean, look, voters might vote for
him because of the whole clutch part, and you know
his leadership and the narratives about oh he's undersized, he
can't win a championship. But I think if you're going
on performance, he's third at best, maybe even fourth because
Victor Wabanyama's playing. But with exception of Jerry West in
(33:37):
nineteen sixty nine. You know, player on losing team rarely
wins it. I think the Necks are going to win it.
So I think it's between Ojo Deanobi and Karl Anthon Towns.

Yes, yeah, we all know the game winning tipping that
he had, as well as the block on deeron Fox.
But he's been very consistent throughout the series and with
Karl Anton Towns, even with that slow start in Game
four with the foul trouble. Defensively, he's been mostly good
against Victor one Bama, and he's been very aggressive on
(34:08):
both sides of the ball, and he's been a great
team guy. So I think it's a toss up early between.

Now, some voters may go for or Bronson, but even
even with that, I would be very surprised if he
winds up pointing it.

including of course the World Cup and just pricing and
ticket sales and all that.

I think, you know, the empty seeds and tickets not
being sold out or whatever. I really think it's economy based.
I mean, the World Cup is a big deal right
in a city like Los Angeles, which touch a huge
Hispanic population seriously and love soccer, right, I'm not speaking
out of turn or whatever. The idea that they're not buying,
(37:06):
you know, it's not sold out and you can't get in.
It has to be economic because the tickets are so
kelvin expensive. Gas is expensive, food, everything like, there's a
lot of stuff, and you got to be able to
justify in your mind and be like, I'm willing to
give up twelve hundred dollars to go to a soccer game?
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Now, do you know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (37:30):
No, it's it's the problem. It's the problem with essentially
everything right now. You want to go see Taylor Swift, Beyonce,
Bruno Mars, Chris Brown Us or whoever, cashing out seven
eight nine hundred dollars for a ticket fifteen hundred if
you want a great seat going to the World Cup,
all of that is very difficult, and so the same
(37:51):
thing happening here now. They say that there's three hundred
and fifty tickets left in the primary then they got
another twenty five hundred available to secondary market.

And to your point, what do you think the cheapest.

Is twelve hundred dollars?

And Kelvin, of course they should be confident and feel
like they have a chance to win. You don't play
professional sports. You don't get to the finals and go,
oh yeah, we have no shot to win. Uh, and
you got to take it. And he said the right thing.
You got to isolate. You can't win three games on Saturday.
You can only win one game. And I think what
goes into their favor is that they're young, you know
(04:41):
what I mean. Like people are saying the whole year,
the whole postseason, they can't do it. They can't get there,
do you know what I mean? They can't win a
game seven, Kelvin, you didn't think they could go to Okay,
see right and win a game seven and they did.
So all those things are out there and they have
to just continue to do they got a lead. It's
(05:01):
not there's a difference between you ain't ready and you
got run off the court, you know what I mean,
to get your butt kicked or swept, and you were
never really in this series. You never led. You know,
we've seen series where teams are totally overmatched. This is
where they've had leads and they've been in control and
they won a game they won at Madison Square Garden,
(05:24):
you know, like down oh two or whatever it is,
and had a great chance to come back to San
Antonio to two and play really well in the first half,
and just you know, they tanked, they choked in the
second half and lost the game.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
That will probably haunt them until they win.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
A championship and whenby they have a shot, they're gonna
be in the mix going forward.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
But this is the right approach.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
I'm not gonna be like, oh, I wouldn't have said
anything or whatever. That's not how sports is. They got
to ask the question, do you guys think you can
pull us off? Can you do it? Can you win
and and win this series? And it would be different.
I always remember, forget about the forget about the Cavaliers
coming back. Kelvin three to one right, which was incredible

because the Warriors looked like, Okay, they're good to go.
Even with Draymond Green missing game, he still had two
other games. All they had to do was win. Two
of the three games were at home. They lost Game
seven at home. Steph Curry with the dipsy dudo behind
the back all that, you know, like, I still can't
believe that pass.

That's why everybody's about the Aaron Fox the worst player.
Speaker 4 (06:34):

That to me was working the game seven on the line,
rob what are we doing behind the back pass to
Clay out of bounce?

It was crazy? It really was crazy. So so.

I get that, but I don't think that they're so
far fetched as if they're on some fantasy And I
was gonna say, instead of looking at that one, the
one I always kind of think about, and this is
me being a baseball guy, is the Yankees had the
Red Sox down three to oh, and that was Kelvin

three to oh, never been done in baseball history, right ever,
and the Yankees to win Game three, which was in Boston, right,
what seven was eighteen to six? The Yankees won eighteen
to six, never won another game and lost and became
(07:35):
that team that gave up a three O lead, a
three O lead, and lost the championship. And that was
during the Yankees' run. You know what I mean of
winning all those World Series, and they have been there before,
done that. Mariano Rivera couldn't get it done. Dave Roberts
was the guy who helped him win that Game four
that got the ball roll and they beat Mariano Rivera.
(07:57):
So my point is that you know, on paper, does
it look like it's an impossible task.

It does.

You can't make a mistake, there's no room for error.
You can't lose a game, can't give away a game,
can't throw the ball out of bounds, or whatever you
want to do. But I think they have the right approach,
which is, we're here, nobody thought we would be here.

We just have to play and.

Take one game at a time and not get caught
up with the daunting idea that you have to win
three games, because you can't win three games at one night.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
You're gonna only win one.

First of all, they already want to the NBA Finals.
If we're going by Kenny Atkinson's logic, they analytically have
won this.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Kenny Yikins is home. That's why he's right.

They analytically have already won this. And I'm being tongue
in cheap, but I'm also being serious in that. Look,
I picked the Knicks in seven. The Spurs can be
sitting here and saying, man, we should be four to though,
maybe three and one or at leading.

One is you are realistic three and one.

Or at least two, and he could even say maybe
at minimum too and right, because they've led by double
digits in every single one of these games.

I mean, there's been plenty of times where you're like, oh,
the Spurs look like the better team throughout this series.
They just couldn't close it, or they have a bad stretch,
or they don't call timeouts, or they make a bonehead
to play here or there. And so that's why I
look at this team as they're young and dumb enough
to not look at history, which is thirty seven to one.

They're young and dumb enough and have no reference point
rob And I think this is where being young helps them.
They don't have a history, right, if you're James Harden
or a Donovan Mitchell or a Chris Paul or other

Kobe Bryant even talked about it when he talked about
when he went six for twenty two, seven for twenty two,
he said, I wanted it too much. I was tight,
I was forcing it. You gotta beat the Celtics's history.
It's Lakers, the Celtics' and you do Game seven and
I gotta get this done. I remember, I'm trying to
stack up as many rings as I can't without without
a check to toe them, I can do it. The

Spurs fortunately don't have that, so I think that's easier
for them to kind of hit themselves with the men
in black, low laser, forget it, move on, because they
don't have history behind them. You never get it done.
Weinby twelve years and you ain't won nothing yet. Uh,
Stefan Casser, you're overrated, you know what I mean? Like
they don't have these baggage coming in. They're young, they're hungry,

they're energetic. Hey we lost one, wipe our hands. We
should have had it. So I even as picking the Knicks.
Don't look at the Spurs as a team that's gonna fold.
Don't look at this team as a team that's gonna
be so downtrodden it and and and blue from that
twenty nine point letdown that I fully expecting to come
back and fight and be right there in Game five.

And even if they lose rob it won't be because
all they lost it mentally, they were checked out, they
didn't have the heart. They may lose just because hey,
the Knicks are a good team, and the Knicks have
beat them twice in San Antonio. But it won't be
because they blew a lead. It won't be because they quit.
It won't be because they folded, you know, and just
mailed it in. I think this team is built built

differently than that, So I give them a lot of credit.

And again I think this.

Is where the youth may actually help them in that
I don't have a history of this.

I'm locked in, I'm ready to go and let's go play.

Where sometimes having ten years of experience where you failed
your misshots, you know, James Harden never gets it done.
All that stuff can carry extra weight. They don't have
the baggage or the luggage of history and years in past,
and that can work in their favor.

Yeah, I'm with you. There's no there's no track you know,
they can't do it. Yep, right, there's no. They don't
have a track record. And if anything, if they wanted
to pull back on and grasp anything, couldn't they go.
We just won. We just beat the defending and we
beat them in their building. We we went there. Nobody

gave us a chance at doing that. A few people,
I should say, you know what I mean, gave us
a lust.

Thirty on them, you know.

So Yeah, I just think this team again, even if
they lose Game five, Right, it's been a competitive series,
so it's not far fetched than to lose. But I
just don't think it'll be like other teams have been
broken by something, you know, they are broken by a loss,
broken by a misshot, broken by that. I don't think
they'll be broken if they lose. It'll be just hey,
the next finaling they're on it. Maybe all three of

their guys have a great game at the same time.
But I just don't think even though somebody who picked
the Knicks to win the whole thing, I give this
first team credit that. I don't think that is what
they'll I think they're built differently than just simply, you know,
being a broken team, and I expect some resilient and
the pushback and a fight from them, and again short
history work in their favor.

so they are aware of, you know, all the previous
eras they've learned the rules of the game. I mean
they watched the real game as well, but they're off.
They learned a lot through a crash course of being
able to play video ga.

tell you something, how accurate you are. When I was
at the other place, they did a huge study on
all of this. And we're in the meeting and I said,
did FIFA World Cup the game FIFA I have anything
to do with kind of this, Like they're starting to
see a surge and popularity of soccer, And they said, absolutely.

People playing FIFA the video game gets these young people
into it. So now they see the game, the matches,
and they know the players, they know the skill, they
know that the offensive sets.

I thought I was a crazy question I asked some
years back, and they said, absolutely, FIFA the game.

some games. I think you think you win fifty, you
have a good season. I don't think you thought you're
gonna jump to win a sixty plus and now you're

in the finals. So almost like he is learning on
the job where that wasn't You didn't think that was
gonna happen.

So I go ahead, but I got to give you
one example, and you know it because it happened in
your town and and you saw it firsthand. When the
Knicks went to the second round with Rick Carlisle, they
did the pistons, the pistons, pistons, I mean pistons, yep.
And they still made a change because they thought that

they could improve that coaching spot.

And I'm not saying I know who's out there available,
but you have to take a serious look and go,
can we get somebody who's better now? Not hoping he

didn't have a chance, then you could grow with the coach.

all these games. We were we should have won three
of the first four, you know, like you start to
look at that, and if we coach better, would we

kind of shake it off, like I didn't expect to
be here as a franchise.

Because I think they love the guy and would love
to move forward. But I think they look at their
team now like, oh, we got a for real championship
caliber change. We might have to so I think again,
I just think they jumped so Famos thirty games R

You know, basketball is a way of even evening out
the percentages. You're not going to shoot seventy five percent

Yeah, what I took away is all these things can
be true. Nicks are resilient, but the Spurs, you know,

They didn't get in their own way, they would have
secured the lead. You mentioned about Aaron Fox. That was
I think one of the most boneheaded players I've ever
seen in NBA playoff history. You run out the clock.
It doesn't matter how fast you are.

You got to protect it.

You got them.

You have the lead and the ball mark And that
even makes sense.

Yes, and even in today's NBA statistically they'll say, Okay,
it can be for a championship, you got to make
the reason. But if you're I'm not making him. You
got to play percentages. I was there when the Rockets
and the Warriors played in twenty eighteen, when Houston missed
twenty seven consecutive threes at some point you got to
go to plan B. So Rob, I know that you've

loved giving Mike Brown nicknames as Charlie Brown. But I'm
not sure if you're aware of this, but Mitch Johnson
apparently was known as the Maestro growing up because he
was seen as this person that knows how to make
all these intelligent decisions. That was the opposite of Mais
Strow decisions of the three point ball. And look, I
(29:34):
get through the series, maybe at least Game one, giving
him some grace of going with the Aaron Fox of
the VET having trust, but at some point you got
to go with what's working. And Dylan Harper's clearly the
better player. It's not time to be political that you
did that during the regular season. So it's been a
lot of shortcomings across the board.
Speaker 7 (29:54):
Yeah, you mentioned that Dylan Harper when I brought that
up to Rob after I believe it was Game one
where he didn't play him down the stretch and he
had played so well, he didn't play him at all,
and I think.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
He's stuck in that. Well, these are my starters.
Speaker 7 (30:06):
I have to close the game with my starters when
it's really like use him like mine new Genobili. You
got the proto type. He might not start, but Dad
gone for sure He's gonna finish. And that's what I
would like to see. With Dylan Harper, he's been incredible.
But let me also ask you this. I go to
the next side of things, and I don't know if
there's been a more resilient team over the last two
or three years where they just keep doing that.

Rob bought up of Boston Celtics.
Speaker 7 (30:30):
Last year, the Knicks down twenty in Game one and
Game two, they come back in both of those.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
They come back against Cleveland last series.
Speaker 7 (30:38):
I mean, what is it about this team that until
is triple zeros, They are like, we can still win
this team.
Speaker 10 (30:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (30:45):
Well, to be clear, I mean both things can be true,
but I have to establish the copy of both. Last season.
This season, you know, their playoff opponents had a lot
of flaws, injuries, shortcomings, so that was a factor. But
as far as what's controllable with the Knicks, their efforts
always consistent. And you know they have quote unquote stars
(31:06):
with Jalen Brunson and Karlanthone Towns, but a they aren't
always playing like stars, but be they play as a
team it's not about who's getting the ball, how many
shots are people getting their identity starts on the defensive
end as well as you know, making hustle plays and
having good ball movements. So you know, that's helped them
(31:27):
overcome leads, help them overcome karnthone Towns, fout trouble, overcome
slow starts for Jalen Brunson from a shooting standpoint. So
all those things are good and you need that in
the NBA playoffs. And you contrast that with the Spurs.

They're getting by because they're very talented, they're very athletic,
and they have depth. But you know, to my surprise,
I knew, okay, this is our first playoff experience, but
they seemed pretty mature for their age during the regular season,
and they also have some established veterans like Daron Fox.
But during these playoffs, even with the thunder series, I

haven't seen their resiliency or you know, their kind of
mental ford sat together and it's being a factor. It's
been more about their talent tearing everything.

Let me let me say this, when you talk about
even the Knicks coming back from these leads, when they
beat the Celtics. The Celtics miss seventy five out of
one hundred and three pointers. You know, like Kevin, when
you talk about teams coming back, there's always a factor
of when you shoot threees, you give people easy baskets
on the other end of the floor, Like it's a
(32:38):
recipe to give up a big lead if you're not
making them, and you just keep forcing the issue. How
about Jalen Brunson has not been efficient by any stretch
of the imagination, but I think they will go out
of their way unless he has an awful clinching.

Game to give him the MVP.

Would would Og be somebody you would vote for or
would I think kat was to talk the first couple
of games when they help win be down.

Where are you was? As far as potentially being an MVP?

Yeah, I don't. I mean, look, voters might vote for
him because of the whole clutch part, and you know
his leadership and the narratives about oh he's undersized, he
can't win a championship. But I think if you're going
on performance, he's third at best, maybe even fourth because
Victor Wabanyama's playing. But with exception of Jerry West in

nineteen sixty nine. You know, player on losing team rarely
wins it. I think the Necks are going to win it.
So I think it's between Ojo Deanobi and Karl Anthon Towns.

Yes, yeah, we all know the game winning tipping that
he had, as well as the block on deeron Fox.
But he's been very consistent throughout the series and with
Karl Anton Towns, even with that slow start in Game
four with the foul trouble. Defensively, he's been mostly good
against Victor one Bama, and he's been very aggressive on

both sides of the ball, and he's been a great
team guy. So I think it's a toss up early between.

Now, some voters may go for or Bronson, but even
even with that, I would be very surprised if he
winds up pointing it.

We hit it once or twice. But tell me your
thoughts on just where we are with big stuff happening,
including of course the World Cup and just pricing and
ticket sales and all that.

I think, you know, the empty seeds and tickets not
being sold out or whatever. I really think it's economy based.
I mean, the World Cup is a big deal right
in a city like Los Angeles, which touch a huge
Hispanic population seriously and love soccer, right, I'm not speaking
out of turn or whatever. The idea that they're not buying,
(37:06):
you know, it's not sold out and you can't get in.
It has to be economic because the tickets are so
kelvin expensive. Gas is expensive, food, everything like, there's a
lot of stuff, and you got to be able to
justify in your mind and be like, I'm willing to
give up twelve hundred dollars to go to a soccer game?
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Now, do you know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (37:30):
No, it's it's the problem. It's the problem with essentially
everything right now. You want to go see Taylor Swift, Beyonce,
Bruno Mars, Chris Brown Us or whoever, cashing out seven
eight nine hundred dollars for a ticket fifteen hundred if
you want a great seat going to the World Cup,
all of that is very difficult, and so the same
(37:51):
thing happening here now. They say that there's three hundred
and fifty tickets left in the primary then they got
another twenty five hundred available to secondary market.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
And to your point, what do you think the cheapest.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
Is twelve hundred dollars?
Speaker 4 (38:06):
You've great guests one twenty nine.

I'm just guessing. I didn't.

I did not know what the number one as a
great guess. So again it's just difficult. We did a
whole story on the news station Spectrum News one. Of course,
you know, not anchor the morning's there. And to to park.
How much do you think parking is? They're telling you
it's not a guest. They already know. They say, if
you're hundred and fifty, nope, more keep going more than
one hundred and fifty to part your car, keep going.

you in advance, hundreds apart, so try to use the
natal system three hundred. So a lot of this stuff
