(01:25):
Daniels gonna be joining us here at the bottom of
the hour, eight thirty on the east, five thirty here
on the west. Good to chop it up with him,
you know, big fan of AD and get his announcements
so much to you. And I keep talking on the
air and off about how many storylines and stories that
in different angles there is to the NBA Finals and
just the NBA as a whole and kind of where
we can go for that individual players as well. So
(01:46):
we'll chop it up with Ad about that in just
a little bit. The other side to this Knicks win.
The other side to the Jalen Brunson little Man David
and Goliath is Goliath in his case is the young giant,
young phenom in wem Binyama and it's been an interesting
ride over the last few weeks with Wemby.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
ROGI yeah, in more ways than one, because Victor win Binyama,
depending on which series you tuned into, and especially in
these NBA Finals, either looked like the single greatest player
we had ever seen, or he looked like a twenty
two year old making his first run in the playoffs,
and there was no in between.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
It felt like.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
And of course throughout the postseason he had controversial comments,
controversial plays, and he didn't seem to ever have any
kind of remorse about anything he did or said on
or off the court, including after they lose Game five
unceremoniously gentlemen sweep, Wemby had the audacity to point out that,
(02:49):
you know what, I still feel like we dominated that series, Dams.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
I think one of many things I learned is the
margin of error is very very thin. Our domination stints
are absolute. We absolutely absolutely dominated for most of the series.
But our errors, our mistakes are punished so hard that
we can't have ups and downs like this so so much,
(03:15):
you know the upside, Okay, the downs is the reason
we lost.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
There, you go, well, and then after that he said,
I'll see you guys. Never never.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
I don't quite get that part of it all. But
but listen, I'm gonna go here. This is what we
love to do in life and sports in particular, Carrie.
We love to have somebody that the roller coaster ride,
the ups, the downs. We love you, then we hate you.
We might hate you for a while, even then we
love you again, and then we get it in. Depending
on how it ends, we might hate you again. We'll
see how it ends. It works out at the end
(03:46):
for you. And I say that to say to me,
that's where I think wim be starting to fall. First
year or so, I was like, I don't really know
what I know what to see. We thought we saw
a bunch of highlights of him, and you know you're
un familiar. If you will, okay, this will be interesting.
Right then you start to see he's good. Then in
this year it goes into yo, this dude is a problem.
(04:06):
He might be the best we ever seen. When it'saul
said and done, he's scary good. And then we love
the passion right all he cares. Look at him. He's
crying in the Olympics, and he's mad. He wants to
bring the pain to the All Star Game and you're
loving all of this. And I've said, right where you are,
and I said, I love how spoken he is, how
honest he'll tell you, hey, I think I should be
the best. He sat down with Malick Andrews. He'll be like,
(04:29):
who's better than me? She'd be like, oh, there's so much.
He's like, who's better than you?
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Name him? Who you think better than me? When I'm healthy,
ain't nobody better than me?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
I love it, But I think we're gone from now
where it's the Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Okay, hear me out, I'm listening.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Anakin Syewalker is this young Jedi talented learning the game
and thinking he's gonna be you know this, This this
guy that's can Obi wan Kenobi is teaching him.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
He's learning and when you see, all right, look at us,
Dode's fun. You love him. But then he sells his
soul and it becomes Darth Vader.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
But the watch this though, Darth Vader, while he's the villain,
kind of the villain we all love. And I say
that because Whimby, this is what happens. All the stuff
that we love you for becomes the thing that we
start to despise you for and all that we love.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
He's honest, he said I should an MVP. Look at him.
He's mad at SG.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
And he keeps talking and he keeps talking, and everybody's
all right, you're saying too much. You know you're losing. No,
you got molly wopped. You know you're you're choked, and
you're not admitting it, and you're finding ways out and
you're kind of making an excuse, and you keep saying.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Everybody knows we're gonna win. Everybody knows we're coming back.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
And it's like, ah, that stuff starts to work against you.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
You start to be tough and passionate.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
We like that, but now you're elbowing guys, and you're
elbowing this guy, and you're pushing bruntsing down and you're
putting your feet under people, and you're you're getting into
it and tusseling and and you know, and it starts
to become right, you're starting to not like it. Uh,
you don't speak to the reporters. Yeah, a couple of
games back, you walk out. You don't speak reporter. You're
(05:58):
the same one always looking for a microphone. An answering
question now all of a sudden, you ain't got nothing
to say to reporters. You don't shake hands afterwards, you're
crying on the podium when you lose the checking in
back in the nineteen U But I'm serious, Carrie, this
is how this works.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Well, he's so passionate, he's crying. Look at the car.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Now it starts to work against you because look at
him crying. He always losing something. He losing in nineteen under,
losing in the Olympics, losing in the mid season tournament, thing,
losing in the finals. And this is how I think
I was watching this and starting to see how it
starts to shift. What's the first thing to say? Why
shoot so many theories? Rob g, why y'all post up? Man?
(06:36):
We already crowned him too early. He ain't all that man.
He nice, but he ain't that nice. Look at him,
can't even shake hands with him. Sore loser. And I
think I was watching this like this is where Anakin
Skywalker turns into Darth Vader, where all the stuff that
you kind of liked the bottom and it gets the
greatest fear of maybe I'm not the you know and
(06:57):
best ever, and maybe I'm not that guy. It starts
to happen. And I'm not saying people hate him hate him. Yeah,
That's why I said Darth Vella is like that, because
if you say who's you favorite character, You're gonna be
like Darth Lader from All the Star Wars, Right. So
I think there's still that thing where we like him
and it's still something a mystical thing about him. But
I just feel like it started to work against him.
(07:18):
All the turnovers, the misshots, the misfree throws, the complaining,
like I said, not speaking up, not shaking hands. I
think it starts to work where you know the shift
and not to mention, you go against fifty three years
of history, against the Knicks and then the lovable Knicks
and the small guy David and Goliath, and I felt
like walking out of this winby kind of came out
where we all expecting to be amazing talent. But I
(07:40):
think he walked out a little less desirable coming out
of that, Whereas I think it was like everybody had
the cheer for me, Yes, you beat the thunder. People
didn't want the unethical basketball in the finals, and I
just think there's a little bit of he came out
of that where people all, maybe he's a little he
hate care.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
He's rough and tough too. Is he dirty?
Speaker 6 (07:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Is he nasty? Is he dirty? Is he complaining in
the two? Is he not manning up when he needs to?
He's ducking media, is ducking the handshakes. And I'm just
I'm walked out. I was saying, Wimby walked out of
that little dirt on him, and maybe that's good. Maybe
that's good. The league needs a Darth Vader, you need
a little villain. He doesn't have to be pristine. I
think Lebron until the decision was kind of on the
(08:20):
pristine young every commercial and great and that that's Steph Curry. Well,
don't get me on Christine. Steph Curry and he can
do no wrong.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Exactly. He can lose three to one, And I was like,
that's Steph.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
You just Steph Curry can lose the NBA Finals three
to one and we blame it on Dramond exactly, he
should have got kicked out the game. Wait a minute,
the v unanimous it what Yeah? So am I am
I crazy? Or did he come out and go in like,
oh snap, face of the league. He's the one Obi
wan to to to Anakin's cover to it. Now, it's
like he walked out still that guy, still thinking the talent,
(08:54):
isn't you? But like we saw the holes in his game.
We see the holes in kind of some of the
maturity of how to handle the media. You in New York,
you know, as the media stuff goes, and also the sportsmanship.
And I think it came out of it a little
blemished and a little little villainy if you will.
Speaker 7 (09:09):
Yeah, he's he's I like what you said there, He's
a twenty two year old kid. And I think it
started even before that. I think when they beat okay
Se that was their championship, right. You talked about the crying,
You're talking about the celebrating, You're talking about all the bravado,
all that stuff that came in that moment.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Right.
Speaker 7 (09:28):
They poured so much into that moment, and to get
to the finals, I think they would deplete it right emotionally.
And then you talk about Wynby and you talk about
his game even when the playoffs started and he had
those you know, had some really good games. I did
say for them to win, he's going to have to
develop some real basketball moves.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
He doesn't have.
Speaker 7 (09:48):
That go to And so when you talk about the
Obi one to Darth Vader, that justifization right, it is
that it's him learning how to use the lightsaber, and
no one want to use it at the right time,
and no one would to use the force at the
right time, right Like those things takes time. You don't
just become Dark Vader, right Like there's a there's there's
a hurdle. There's some hurdles to get to to get
(10:10):
to that point. So even equating it back to basketball
and what you're saying in your point, he needs to
learn how to be a better leader, even because I
mean a lot of times in this in this playoff run,
they were referring to Winby as their leader, and so
if that they were stop set times.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
So if that is their.
Speaker 7 (10:27):
Leader, and we see that on Front Street on this
run and what he was offering up to the world,
we know they didn't have a leader. And so to
go through that process and actually learn how to do
this and learn how to do the media, learn how
to take the lumps. I mean, we talk about players
that were getting roughed up back in the day, talk
about a prime shack. He would get beat up man,
(10:49):
and now they will get to a point where he
couldn't take it and he would fire off on somebody, but
he would take it. He understood his value and understood
what he meant to that team. So you know, Wenby's
figuring this out on the fly. And so the emotional
roller coaster that it takes to be a champion, to
be the one, Yeah, he's gonna have to go through
these bumps, and so to learn how to do that emotionally,
he's got to get better. He's got to be a
(11:10):
better teammate, know how to handle the press because the
number the other thing with the press and Winby and
what he says, we don't even know if he's saying
what he's meaning to say.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
It's not yes, it's not his first language.
Speaker 7 (11:23):
So so when it comes off short or snarky a
little bit sometimes, I don't know if it's just as
ego or is it hard for him to translate what
he's saying in the time.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
I'm gonna give him credit with that. I get your
grace in that. I think he means what he says.
I think he pauses because he's well thought out, and
I think whether you agree or not, I think again.
This is the person I sat there and watched leak
Andrews interview and being like, no, who's better than me?
And I don't mind this stuff, but I think he's
given us a whole four years worth of stuff in
(11:53):
six months. Yes, right, not doing this, not checking out.
They're a bunch of people ever won people. It's like whoa, whoa, whoa.
Speaker 7 (11:59):
But kel he's getting beat up as well, and so yes,
we're seeing him retaliate. Yes, he's seven foot five. We're
not going to miss him retaliate. And right now that
is the topic now right, like that's what we're seeing.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Let me ask you this, Yeah, do you have a
problem with him not shaking hands? What I don't like
about it? You can't be the guy to tell me
you're the best. You can't be the guy to tell
me I should have been as m VP. I'm Defensive
Player of the Year unanimous. I'm that I'm the don
dada and not man up. Let it burn, Oh I
got a problem. Let it simmer and go over there
(12:32):
and be like even if it's two yo, good game,
good game, and walk on back. I'm nobody saying you
got to sit there and hang out with the confetti, right, but.
Speaker 7 (12:39):
No, I got a problem with it for sure. Go
shake go shake their hands. They beat you, look look
them in the eye and say we'll get you next
time or whatever, like whatever it is. Like, if you're
the leader, go do that. There have been dudes who
are bigger, play longer. The burn matters more, right, because
let's say your Magic Johnson's trying to be burned and
you beat you that earn Man, you've got a rival, right,
(13:01):
or if you're Bird in Magic, or if you're Mike
and you like Man, I can't beat these freaking pissions,
or if you're whatever it is. We've seen that happen
from guys who have kind of even earn more than
he has thus far, and they've had to go through
that shake hands. Yeah, And I think I was kind
of like man because I thought for him, I know
it burns, I know he cares, and I like that,
but I thought it would be the care and respect
(13:21):
for the game makes me go do that, you know
what I mean? It's a little misguided.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Yeah, Like you don't them guys I name didn't care
less than your trust me. Michael Jordan did not care
less than you, and he went and that shot hand
and nobody asked you to go hug him up and
swap jerseys.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
I thought that was interesting. I do too. I agree.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
All right, let's take some calls on this eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox Wimby kind of going into
the postseason and even the finals? Was he kind of
the becoming the guy the face? Did he come out
a little blemish? Did he come out a little villainisque
villain esque? Is he Darth Vadery? If you will or
maybe not? Maybe you disagree. I think we again, some
(14:01):
of those blemishes came out of this. We see where
he's more work to be done, both on and off
the court, and some growing up to do as well.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Maybe you disagree.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Eight seven to seven ninety nine on Fox, we want
to hear from you on that. We of course got
as I mentioned, Antonio Daniels coming up as well, So
a whole lot left on this Monday, Magic City Monday
edition of the Yat Couple, Stick with Your Boys is
Fox Sports Radio. The world's biggest soccer tournament has arrived.
We've been talking about it, and you can trade the
entire tournament on Caushi and on Calshi. You can trade
(14:29):
every match from the opening stage all the way to
the finals. So you know what they say, history has
a way of repeating itself. Well, let me tell you
about this. The five time champions Brazil currently trading at
just seven percent to win it all, meeting one hundred dollars.
The trade pays out over one three hundred dollars if
a win scores Scocker's biggest prize. So Brazil plays in
up timple style of soccer. You saw that the other night,
(14:51):
and that lends itself to high scores in high drama,
which should make them one of the teams to watch
in this tournament. And on Calshi, you're trading against peers
in a live market, meaning there's no house and has
the popularity changes. You can buy in and out of
your position for a limited time. Downplay the Cowci app
and use code odd to get ten dollars when you
trade ten ka l Shi Calci trade on anything.

Speaker 11 (16:46):
You're right man. I told people keep an eye on him.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Oh, here we go. That was that was out of line. Yeah, Alex,
that was out. He was gonna come on the show too.
Now he ain't coming on show now. A couple kelvin Washington,
Kerry Roads and for Rob on This Magic City Monday.
A d Antonio Daniels joining us in about seven minutes
(17:09):
or so. Fetti WATP will not be joining us. Never know,
you never know, you never know. He said, to keep
you out on the prize. He said, sorry, you gonna
let him bring you he did. Sorry.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
At University of Maryland Bible Campus, build your next success
with more like there you go one hundred degree in
certificate programs and fields like business, healthcare, cybersecurity, and more
up undergrad and most graduate classes start soon to learn
more at u MGC, dot E d U. All right,
let's take a few calls here. I just thought Winby
(17:42):
came out a little blemish in a few different ways.
He's still gonna be great. He's gonna be perennial All Star,
win a couple MVPs, probably get back to the finals.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Heavy probably.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
I said, we are everyone's guaranteed. You never know, you do,
never know, you do not. All right, let's get some
phone calls eight seven and seven ninety nine on Fox
a week.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Let's see what we got. We got m J and
New Orleans. You're own with the eye couple?
Speaker 5 (18:02):
Man?
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Are you brought up? What up?
Speaker 12 (18:07):
Half of half of the eye couple? Three point five
South out the Rock to y'allso and the eye mob man.
Speaker 13 (18:17):
A lot of people don't mention the eye mab what
up to my eye of mind?
Speaker 6 (18:20):
Peach?
Speaker 13 (18:23):
I'm one that believes it starts at the top and
the bulk of this falls on money making.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
Niche is on his watchmber me.
Speaker 13 (18:36):
Everybody wants to compare themselves to that Michael Jordan guy.
But he took his lumps, Magic took his lumps, Bird
took their lumps, Kobe took his lumps. So a lot
of these people that want to be the face of
the NBA and think it's all.
Speaker 6 (18:53):
You know, jokes and and you know.
Speaker 13 (18:55):
Just this that and the dirt, they don't know the
work that it comes with that, So yes, you have
to shake hands, you have to Shankin's kiss baby, the
whole nine. So yes, that's a blemish on his record.
I don't want to hear anything about this young stuff
because players are coming.
Speaker 10 (19:10):
To the league much younger.
Speaker 13 (19:12):
They come to the league nineteen twenty twenty two.
Speaker 10 (19:15):
So when you come in the league, it's.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
No longer the three.
Speaker 13 (19:17):
Years of college four years of college type things where
people have to wait and fit in and play roles.
So now the young thing that's faded out, not trying
to hear that. I didn't watch that last game because
losing my twenty nine points, that's something I just could
not faster than Calvin. I know you won high school championships,
so you know different things like that. And I definitely
(19:38):
couldn't ride with Rock because I don't know what rock is.
Probably don't take it Geraldo. Some days man just being
that like Waldorf or a story or boats from the Umps.
So yeah, man, when they got to get his act together, Man,
I think Swipeer aka fox Man, I think that project crazy.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Explore people what you did there? Jay, let me get
no appreciate you, MJ. I love that nice swiper swipeing
nose swiping, swipe and nose what all right, let's get
to it.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Shout to MJ. I need some of them, man, Ben,
it's fedexum. Who we got?
Speaker 4 (20:12):
We got?
Speaker 3 (20:12):
We got ted in Lake Tahoe. You own the couple? Man?
How are you? I gotta get to Lake Tahoe.
Speaker 10 (20:18):
Y know what's up?
Speaker 6 (20:19):
Guys?
Speaker 10 (20:19):
How's going on?
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Well? Thank you?
Speaker 10 (20:22):
Hey? So I love hearing the Star Wars things that
you're talking about. Are you guys? Are any guys pretty
Star Wars savvy? I have another twist on.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
It depends on how deep you're gonna go. I ain't
gonna act like I'm just you know, so go ahead.
Speaker 10 (20:32):
It's real shallow, real shout. But uh yeah, so like
Game four, Uh, I'm waiting for somebody to bust out
some kind of a meme or maybe and it's gonna
be in a twenty twenty six finals recap or something
where instead of R two D two showing up and
projecting a hologram, maybe it's Spike Lee projecting a hologram
off somebody saying like.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Hey, what is it?
Speaker 10 (20:55):
This is our most desperate hour? Help me? O G
and AOB Hey, you're our only hope, you know. And
he got that game winners.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Yeah right, yeah, that's how did I miss the obvious?
O g one kenob be just sitting there, I'm tripping.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
What's wrong with me? I hear you?
Speaker 6 (21:13):
Man?
Speaker 10 (21:13):
Yes, So I'm waiting for somebody creative, you know, to
bust that out in a meme or an animation or
something you may have to do.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
You may have to lia soccer, hr you. They'll get
on top of that, man, Hey, appreciate it, thank you.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
And he didn't.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
He didn't go full on Nerd level with you see
my other job spectrum like they'll they'll go full Nerd
on me, like you know, and I got a le
level like I can't keep up with all that like
edition oneen, he said on page eleven.
Speaker 14 (21:39):
All right, hold on that. No, I just went to
carry road startup before his game. All right, all right,
you're going you're getting right about here. It's my level.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Don't go on this. Let's take one more eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox, we got so we got
one more.
Speaker 7 (21:57):
We got one more in the chamber, we got we
got and drew in Bakersfield.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
You own with the okable man how are.
Speaker 10 (22:02):
Yeah, what's up guys? Reflection?
Speaker 3 (22:07):
K what's good?
Speaker 10 (22:08):
You got two k's.
Speaker 6 (22:09):
I didn't want I didn't want to say KK.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Yeah, I'll hit us with the three piece. You got
one more, one more, one more, And I was gonna
know something. I was gonna get my way to Bakersfield fired.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
So I don't think Wimby's dirty. I think he's in
the process of learning the balance between self defense, aggressiveness
and acting out.
Speaker 14 (22:30):
Now.
Speaker 6 (22:31):
I think at the beginning of Game two, I think
it was he should have gone right before the tip
and shook all of the Knicks hands and then after
that sliced their face, so to speak. Now, I think
that's all I got.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
All right, No, listen, I don't disagree with that, And
I think you brought up a great example. Carry before
we get to eighty here and Steve that lebron shack.
Those guys can filed a lot that, you know, and
there's an element of aggression you want to have.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
And even the bigs of the.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Old days, right, they tell you when you get taught basketball,
you get the rebound and keep the elbows high, you know,
and you create you make room, create your space.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
I think you'll learn that.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
And I think because again guys are gonna be they
don't know how to stop him order trying to figure
out way. So and his body's weird, so like if
you get low, you're all on his knees. You didn't
even mean to be per se. So I think that
adjustment to him, the physicality. But also again I just
think some of the things happen when you win. We
accept and you know that in life. Yes, when you lose,
they're problematic. Yeah, so him losing, him giving up leads
(23:33):
and missing free throws him and the teams. I'm not
putting it on him. I'm just saying and it starts
to sour on you. Now you're choking. It is how
you the best, but your choke. I think stuff like
that happens. We can ask ad that on the other
side of trending. He is Steve the Sega right now, Hey, Steve.
Speaker 2 (23:46):

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Steve, Thank you.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
It is the couple on a Magic City Monday, Calvin
Washington Carrie Rose, who is in for Rob Robbi Rob Parker,
I should say out enjoying some time away, enjoined the summer,
not mad at that. By the way, the world's biggest
soccer tournament is here and you can trade every match
on calshi.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Download the calshi app.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Use code odd odd to get ten dollars when you
trade ten dollars calci trade or anything. I was just
telling you all about Kelshi all right, before we get
back to a d here in a little bit, get
us updated on what we've been saying with these matches,
real quick, Alex, just to give us a little quick
World Cup update.
Speaker 14 (24:34):
Well, it's good to be a bit at a studio
with you, Calvin and Carrie Roads. A big fan of
you on the pitch. Carry maybe next time we get
you to play actual football. But as we're speaking today,
I've noticed that many people especially excited for it always
performance tomorrow afternoon because a man named Holland is making
his first perfect, big debut on the pitch here on
the World Cup stage. Many people are calling him maybe
(24:55):
the gold Boot nominee. I say, don't get too excited yet.
We still haven't seen the greats like Christiano Ronaldo Leonel
MESSI and my personal favorite to see what U United
States can do with their move forward. But it ended
in one one with Araguay and Egypt. We're moving forward
to the game at Handle coming up with I'm not
sure if i want to say this out loud, but
I'm kind of nervous for this game coming up because
(25:17):
many people are not sure exactly what to expect. I
think this might be another unfortunately mil mil.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
That's one thing we were talking about here. You gotta
got to enjoy the Neil Neil. You gotta enjoy the
sweet science, the art of the game, the beautish, the
artistry of the game. Because sometimes you're gonna get a
one one, you're gonna get a Neil Neil.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
It's been a lot of that, and you gotta gotta
be like, yeah, that was good.
Speaker 11 (25:38):
It's not good.
Speaker 13 (25:39):
That was good.
Speaker 11 (25:40):
I like the game. It's not good.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Kevin.
Speaker 7 (25:42):
You got excited looking at Leonard Fournette running down the field.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
You're like, who was that running back out there?
Speaker 1 (25:49):
He was?
Speaker 3 (25:49):
He was he was.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
Noigg and nail on the head. I thought that was
learned Fournette. I'm like, did he lead the NFL to
go play soccer? Can you imagine my gosh, No, it's
been of his film.
Speaker 5 (25:59):
Noo.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
I've been key been keeping the watch over the weekend,
watching a little bit as well, you know, And I
want to act like I'm mister you know football or soccer.
But I mean it's been fun man and getting into it.
My daughters have been into it as well. Your daughter play, yeah,
my oldest. But now but this year the school where
at fourth grade is so it's coming year when they
can get into it now, like with the school. So
(26:20):
obviously she did a little soccer shots around the way,
but interested to see if she really locks in the school.
Speaker 14 (26:25):
You know, it's crazy though, was up to this point
of World Cup play, it's still crazy to say USA
looks like the best team.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Still was it the competition? Though?
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Say? What was it the competition? You know what I mean?
Is that part of it? Yes?
Speaker 11 (26:38):
And no, because we still haven't seen like Messy playing.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 14 (26:43):
We haven't seen Ronaldo, we haven't seen Holland Tomorrow play.
It's just like seeing Spain and them sitting like a
lot of their starters for their first game. It's just questionable,
Like it's not like you need to have load management
in the World Cup.
Speaker 7 (26:53):
You know.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Well, the only thing you know I've heard is they're
kind of trying to play the long game, like all right, well, well,
as long as we tie or we should be able
to beat these teams or at least you know, neil
neel them, and then that way we got our guys.
Everybody's healthy in it because it, you know, it will
start to get those time breakers. Tie breakups can come
into the check as well though, so yeah, careful.
Speaker 14 (27:13):
Then it goes down to like gold differential if you
scored more goals Spain got nothing in tied.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Like.
Speaker 14 (27:17):
I don't know about you, but I don't want to
be like the Spurs and just assume I'm going to
win something.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
You know, well, you know what, And that's why, Alex,
they say you don't like sports. I think it's a
lie I love because me to a topic I want
to go with while we got a few minutes, Roger,
you can hop in on this one too, the assumption,
and I'm guilty of it too. I'm guilty of it
as well. Where we go, man, so and so will
be back now. I think it's more visible in the
(27:44):
NBA than like football, because you played it. Football is crazy, right,
there's no guarantee. You can go to first or worst
or worse the first and heartbeat quick, Yeah, we suck.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
We're in a super Bowl. We're in a super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
We lose, Man, we'll be right back, man, We're gonna
do this is a little bit and never get back thirteen
exactly how he from Salam from Salamy. Yes, but the
first season was on a super exactly. Never went back,
never went back. And Gray, I'm glad you mentioned that
somebody who doesn't like sports. That's why we had to
stop doing Touch to sour, right, that's a good point.
We had to retire. We found out the streets found
out you do like heynuth sports. But I use that
(28:17):
as an example because I'm guilty of oh Man, Winby's
gonna be there and and if you make me put
money on it right now, my money is on he will.
He'll wait back to the finals. I expect him if
he has a let's just make it in the middle,
like a fourteen year career. Year career, I mean, not
twenty three, maybe not ten, you know, somewhere fourteen years.
I expect him to get two, you know what I mean?
(28:38):
Just his talent, what he brings. Once he gets better,
once he his team around, I expect him to get too.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Like that's kind of the base, you expect him to
get too.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
What if he stays the same, Like what if this
is the best Wimby we're going to see.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
I'm not I'm sure he's gonna get better. I get
your best.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
I'm lowering it then to I fully expect one, and
I fully expect him to get back to two finals,
even at this level, at this level because it's just
too good. But he cares too much. Defensively is a
freaking nightmare. He ruins the entire game plan. It takes
you a game or two the figure what can we get? Finally,
you saw Jalen Bronson get comfortable and shooting shooting over
(29:12):
him layups. So it just took all right, what's the distance?
It's like, you know, taking you go off and take
the little grass through it and the way what's the win?
Speaker 3 (29:18):
Okay? Let me let my finger. What's okay?
Speaker 1 (29:20):
You had to figure out what was what with him,
and I think you're able to do that in a
seven game series.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
But if if this was his peak for some reason
that you're saying.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
I would expect him to for sure get one and
at least get back twice.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
And if and if he elevates to the alien that
I can expect two.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Maybe you go three. You may can lose another one,
but you go two more. But the reason I say that,
that's just my expectation. Again, it is the reason why
I didn't pick them to win, is watching the NBA
and the way the NBA works. Usually when you see
that guy that becomes a Don Dada Bird Magic, Kareem Jordan,
Lebron said, they get one, they might not get a bunch.
Joker got one, Gianna's got one. You can get one
(29:57):
in the league. When you're that guy you give you
get a five year where that you're that guy. You
can sneak in one and you're that guy guy you
go multiple Lebron, Steph, Kobe, you know that. But and
Wenby should be that ILK. The only reason why I
say the hesitancy, if you'd ask me five years ago,
I gotta put the put everything on it, put the baby,
put the house on it.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
The reason why I'm hesitant now.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
The second apron and the way it's structured, and guys
are coming in so early now that by the time
they're twenty three. Was like, for instance, Dylan Harper's twenty
have you.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Seen him play? Did he live like a normal twenty
year old?
Speaker 14 (30:33):
To you?
Speaker 3 (30:34):
He is not a normal twenty year old now. So
by the time it's like, does he dip excuse me?
You know what? Does he say?
Speaker 13 (30:40):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (30:41):
Oh yeah, somebody might want to pay me an incredible
Do I want to stay here and work it out?
Or do I want to go get my own team?
And that's why I'm like, it's no giving all, he'll
win a bunch. It's like, dude, the Thunder is sitting
there saying, man, if Jada play, we win. It took
you off seven. He only played fifty three fifty It's
the entire series. So the Thunder do they bounce back?
(31:03):
Do the Thunder make a crazy move check Jalen Williams
and a couple of picks and bring Giannis in?
Speaker 3 (31:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (31:08):
You know what I mean? Did the Celtics find a
way to do something to regrouve it? So my point
is the assumption that it just this isn't the era.
If you look, somebody put up there's a great picture
of like the seventies, sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties, two thousands, tens,
and then now the twenty twenties.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
You had multiple repeats.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Right, the eighties was like Lakers Lakers, so Philly Laga Lakers,
you know, and then you go to the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
In the nineties.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
I mean the nineties was Bulls, Bullah blah Blahol's Rockets, Rockets,
bou Bulls. You had where teams were repeating and you
kind of knew those those teams are going to be there.
It's not like that now eight years in a row,
a different champ of different champ. There's no guarantee you
get rob g you get what I'm saying, You feel
me on that.
Speaker 4 (31:47):
Or yeah, absolutely, But I will say with Victor wimber
Yama specifically is to carry his point if he never
gets any better, just in terms of his skills, his
skills stay the same, I'll take the over on one
and a half. You'll still take that on just because
rings because this specific series and the way he lost
his skills could be the exact same. But his maturity
(32:08):
level is gonna be different. He's gonna get into situation
and be like, hey, I don't need to settle for
an eighteen foot pull up I'll just get to the rim.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
And I don't have to develop a left hand. I
don't have to develop.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
I don't have I can shoot thirty five percent from
three just the same way to this season, and just
be the same player, but be more mature, seasoned, a veteran.
Because you said about these knicks, these knicks, I don't
think are skill wise better than they were last year,
two years, three years ago. But they have cohesion, they're
battle tested, they know what they want to do and
(32:39):
what they don't want to do a certain situation.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
And Mike Brown, to his credit, attle bit more offensive.
Speaker 4 (32:43):
Absolutely, But like these Spurs just in terms of talent,
even with the second April, the main three guys are
gonna be there and unless they pull the games harden
for at least the next three four five years. So
I think with them them losing and losing the way
they did is going to be even better for them.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
It's gonna raise the ceiling even high.
Speaker 7 (33:02):
Well, the one thing I'm gonna say about the Spurs,
and I don't know if if you guys agree with
me or not, but I don't think they're gonna win
until they get a real four they need.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
They need a power. They have all their football guards.
Speaker 7 (33:14):
Yeah, they're putting all the attention of seven eleven centers
a three.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
It's crazy.
Speaker 7 (33:19):
No, they're putting all the attention on Wemby to do
all the dirty work. And so when you talk about
being the dirty player, they're asking him to be more physical.
They're asking him to do these the dirty work things
where you need a guy to do that for him.
And I think that's that'll be the biggest difference for
them in my opinion. So as they question this iteration
of them, because people always say what's the what's their
(33:41):
small small ball lineup?
Speaker 3 (33:43):
This is it. Yeah, they're starting five they're all under
six seven.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Yep, they're starting four wings out and then Winny, who
really are seven six wing Let me ask you this,
do you do something to go get a guy like
you're referring to to like a Draymond dirty not dirty,
we know, but he'll do the dirty work. He dirty
is he'll strangle you, he'll choke, you'll stump on you.
But my point is he is dirty.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Castle plays physical. He does.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
We just made you just say we don't necessarily need
an enforcer. We just need guys who are six seven
and up. Yeah, I don't say I'm not I'm not
meaning just what.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
Was Tradmond is the things you would say veteran. Yeah,
play defense, he keeps up with the trend of that. Yeh,
can rebound, you know, he's triple double guy and and
and can guard bigs even though he's underside I know.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
But that type of guy, that type of guy, because
that's what they were missing right at time to time.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
They needed that.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
They needed that Horace Grant guy that the Bulls did it.
When he left, they were like, we gotta go get
a Rodman and that's what the that's what they need. Yeah,
and then that takes and what that does is we
talk about it. We talk about they're going to be
back for the next couple of years. The chemistry, the
chemistry of this team is off the charts. Aaron Fox, No,
no see, And that's no see. We got so many
ways we can go with this because.
Speaker 7 (35:01):
They don't make it to the to the finals without
Darren Fox. He had a terrible finals one hundred. But
they don't make it either. If he doesn't come back
against ok See, they lose Okac.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
I don't disagree. So like he got jumped on the
team bus. He got jumped on the team bus. But see, Kevin,
that's the thing.
Speaker 7 (35:18):
So like you talk about Darth Vader, you talk about
Darren Fox sucking.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Now like this is this is where we are. It's
so this is where he is.
Speaker 14 (35:28):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
I like Daron fix I was.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
I always said, I was, like, man, everybody always talking
about lines members of the Fox Alonzo.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Yeah yeah, I'm like, the Aaron Fox is the one.
Speaker 13 (35:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
But man, listen, you can have a bad series and
still be a good player. The Aaron Fox is a
fine player. That was a rough series.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Come on, of.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
Course, I agree. It was what I'm saying, it was rough.
All right, Rob G's got some college football news he's

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Well, I listen, they're in LA and Robb g was
telling us obviously when you're mixing politics or sports, you
got a friend, you got a homie that got some
free tickets.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
What yeah, what do I gotta do? I'm not being funny.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
I mean listen, a lot of it's political, right, A
lot of people don't want to We're in the middle
of a war with iron, are we peace?
Speaker 3 (37:22):
See here you go. I'm just telling you where it is.
I don't know.
Speaker 11 (37:25):
I just grew up not putting myself in other people's business.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Yeah, and so I would imagine there's a lot of
people who don't feel comfortable, don't want to go.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
So there's that.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
But speaking of op and other people's news and other OPB,
I mean other people's business, We're gonna go to Steven
Sager college.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
Breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 15 (37:44):
Well, he's been in the news for quite a bit now.
Quarterback Brendan Soresby of Texas Tech is NFL Network put it, well,
his college career is.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Over, the fight is over. He is headed to the NFL.
Speaker 15 (37:56):
NFL Network and many others now reporting that Soresby is
applying to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft. Just today, the
NCAA asked an appeals court for an expedited resolution. Don't
wait till after the college football season, before it kicks off.
Can you give us a ruling that district judge, they
said in Texas over stepped in granting soares me that
(38:18):
temporary injunction allowing him to return to college football. Apparently
college football is not his future.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
Yeah, and I thought, listen, I thought, thank you, Steve,
that he got off carry and you and I I
don't think we had a chance to talk about it.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
I thought he got off way too easy.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Rob and I did discuss it, because it's one thing
if you found out, oh man, he put a bet
here and bet there or something to a bet multiple
times on your team, and to basically have a judge say, well,
I mean, if he's not gonna be good, if he's
away from the team, how's he gonna learn, how's he
gonna grow? Where is the learning and the lesson? Where
(38:56):
is the learning? At odd accountability? Yeah, nobody expects a
kid to be perfect. Nobody expects anybody to be perfect,
but at portin point you have to accept the responsibility
and accountability and the idea that you can do that
better on the team. And it just be like, well,
he's gonna lose so much if he's away from the team.
In a way, that's the decision he made when he
paid it again, not just a singular act but multiple
(39:17):
So where were you?
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Where were you on that?
Speaker 5 (39:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (39:19):
I think I thought he should have lost his amateur
amateur status and just go to then NFL. He's a
talented enough player, Hopefully he's able to get this fixed
because this has become a problem in all sporting worlds
and venues. So yes, I thought he should shouldn't be
playing to college football anymore.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
It'll be interesting to see too. First and foremost, bro
get your life together. Yes, I mean that, and I
mean that sincerely, like get you don't listen because what's
the point of getting to the pros get millions dollars
if you still have those demons and those issues, right,
and it maybe even make it worse exasperated, So I
hope he gets his life together.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
First and foremost.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
They say he's talent enough to go early, you know,
the first Cup, first day, maybe second day, and you know,
second round, third round or something. So hopefully again somebody
will take a chance on him and he can get
his life together. But I thought that just the idea
that he got a slap on the wrist from the
judge judge was absolutely insane
Speaker 3 (40:08):
In my opinion, carries around, We got more NBA Finals talk,
