I flew my wife out there on the day of
her birthday June twenty ninth at Wimbley Stadium and it
was unreal, unreal.

She had a microphone and herself and herself unbelievable show
like that about her talent. But if you put on
her music, I'm going to sleep. No, it's unbelievable.

When I came home, I want to like the music
so much more. We saw her here in La twice
and then I was like, nah, I want to go

and it's just her on the stage.

And I got to see it obviously, in Detroit and
the disappointment believed or not, Rob G, You're wrong, but jay.

Z killed it and was so disappointing.

Because most rappers are not great shows.

And I'll be honest, I think it was because I
think he'd be better now. I think he was. Maybe
he was. He was post recovery.

I think he lost that bite, that zip that lost
all the du lost all the Yeah. I mean seriously,
I needed the drugs. He needed the drug so he
was leaning on fifty cent. He had to lean on
doctor Dre. You know what I mean.

It's the difference in people coming out, And I think
that's why Ephraim with the Adele thing. I think it's
the nail on the head for a lot of it.
She can just come on BEA's not just with her specifically,
but it's not always My favorite artist is the best
concert I've ever been or the one I listened to

best show I've ever been to was al mfao, I could.

Was the incredible. But I've seen jay Z like Beyonce
is a different conversation. Like I've seen a bunch of
other people, but these dudes with tight pants and you know,
I knew three of the songs, but I had a
freaking blast.

And that's what I mean when I say best in favor,
like the best might be because of the pomp and circumstance
and stuff and things are flying. You're like, whoa, this
is crazy the money spending this because Kanye had a
crazy one, right, this is like O waitis where he
was on a planet and the whole point was like
with this spaceship landing and that was just like whoa,
that was the gene.

Like my brother saw, Kanye had a house of blues
and he was performing with a literal blue with his racquetball,
and that was the impetus of the whole show. He's
fifty undred people in that room and it was one
of the greatest shows I've ever seen.

You know, it ain't always about just the lights and
pyro technics and just all it sometimes just can be yo.
I really enjoyed that. Max was another one. Maxwell. I

sweat came off as and I saw my wife trying
to lean over and catch the sweat.

The bounce back that was to be ended up not
being what was it a minute nineteen seconds?

I believe it was minute nine? Gave seconds? It was literally,
uh three seconds?

Yeah, yeah, well that well there you have it, a
lot of people uh saying what they thought. Of course,
it was that he was injured before u to hollow
with his losers to Max Holloway. More than the loss.
The conversations come out of it about injuries. Conversations Rogie
come out about when is it kind of ethical if
you will, if you're an athlete to say, hey, I'm
not right. Conor McGregor's conversation about fraud fraud as well.
(13:11):
This fight was the most bet MMA fight. Think it
was ninety two percent or something for for BETMGM have
most bet MMA fight. Wow, BETMGM over eighty percent of
the bets and eighty percent of the handle was on
Connor McGregor. And yet in the whatever twelve to sixteen
hours before the fight, the odds steadily shit, even with
(13:32):
all that money and action coming in on Connor steadily
moved towards Max. We don't know why, maybe somebody knew,
but there was video somebody that made it look like
Connor McGregor's knee was already maybe not torn up, but
it was already unstable before he got in that ring.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
And the rest is history.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Well, I mean to continue to your point, Connor McGregor
said I was not injured.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
He's come out eprom and said he was not injured.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Of course, what is he gonna say? He said I
was feeling great. I'm just paraphrasing, but he said I
felt great. I was ready for it. I was ready
to rock and roll. And then he went in to
say how he's in a dark place and that you know,
and the devil's trying to get at him. He's gonna
stay with the Loura and to quota. Now, I trust
in the Lord, show me your way, thank you God.
But yeah, he said he was he was, he was

good and a lot of people, as Rob g pointed,
looking at that video, this is where it gets interesting.

And you're of trying to do.

What you made demons as what's right, meaning like I
don't want to cancel the fight.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
I don't want to postpone it. I think athletes have that.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Yeah, I've heard Andre Warre talk about it before when
he went into a couple of big fights, how he
was like, I wasn't right. I was on a tourn
you know. I think his ACL was messed up or something.
But he kept, you know, he'd be fought through it.
And they were like, yo, you know that's messed up.
Like he knew he was hurt, he didn't know how bad.
And so we've heard many athletes come in, I knew
I had a torn this, I knew you know what
you played it And I've played with all of that exactly.
(15:00):
And so there's a level of like professionalism where it's
one in it's I get you're trying to stay in it,
You're trying to fight, You're trying to push through. You
don't want especially in that sport where you gotta because
at least a football you'll be back next week. Should
it might not even be a whole seven days, right,
Boxing and MMA fights you might have to wait three months,
six months, a year, you know, And so I can
see why you wouldn't want to. But I'll say this,
(15:22):
this is what happens to me, when the stardom gets in,
you lose the stardom. You were the face of this,
this entire league, this organization. You were the guy you
or you broke through and became pop culture, even beyond
just that one sport. You were pop culture. My wife
knows who Connor McGregor is. She could care less about UFC.
She on UFC, KFC, she don't care. And he broke
(15:46):
through that and you were that guy, you know, seven, eight,
nine years ago, whatever it was. And I think when
you lose that, you mix in. He's talked about, you know,
drugs and alcohol issues, obviously injuries, then you get into
the pds and whatnot. I think there's an element of
I'm finally on my bounce back. I can't lose this,
and you overcompensate and you're not really where you are,
(16:08):
and that's how I read this. I think I think
he hurt himself in training camp. I think not as
severe as he is now, but I think he maybe
strained the ligament in training camp. That's why the knee
looked unstable, and I think he was like, I don't
know how how long I'm gonna last in this fight,
(16:30):
so I'm gonna go out and do something I've never
done before and try to land a knockout blow with
a kick right off the bat and landed on the
bad knee.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
And so.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
He knew it was gonna be over fast either way.
And I think he tried to go out there and
and really perform. I don't think he was in a
space and I don't think UFC was in a space where,
you know, if say hurt this three weeks ago for
them to be like, hey, we're gonna postpone this. It
(17:08):
was too much money, It was too much on the line.
And I just think it was like, all right, I'm
gonna go out there and give it my best shot.
And we got one hundred or a minute nine seconds
worth of nothing.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Nothing.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
And and so now again shout out to Max halloway
uh for not you know, teeing off on him. He
was telling the rev Yo, he's not right, come get him.
Something ain't right. Shout out to him, because that could
have been he is got this big star could have
knocked his teeth out. And you know what else too, man,
that that kind of that failure leads to a larger

conversation of just where the UFC is going.

It ain't what it was. And I'm not gonna act
like I missed you, UFC.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
But this is the This is what any league wants,
is where you have your diehards, but you also the
casuals who peek in and out because you have star power.

So you might not know everything about boxing, but when
Mike Tyson was fighting, you remember that era. Everybody's watching
the Tyson fighter, who's the Floyd at his peak? And
Rob g you are in tune with this, touch with
it more than me UFC and maybe ephim. But just
like that ten years ago run when it was Bone
Jones and you had Ronda and you had McGregor and

you had it was everything chuck with you they had.

It was like a car wash of stars. One would
come down people who transcended the sport, which is the
key thing. And that's something you see a little bit
in boxing, like they've been looking for the next Floyd
Mayweather for a long time.

So we can't find it.

Well, you know what might help fighting, but that's not
because there are a great UFC fight like there are
great fight boxing. If we could just get to fight
more than once a year, that that might help because listen.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
You gotta make your well up then you can meet.
You are sparing.

This is real, like inside baseball stuff. There are tremendous
boxers that you don't know about.

I don't disagree, but.

Any way, is one of the greatest fighters I've ever seen.
But he's like one hundred and ten pounds. He's Asian,
he don't speak English, and so nobody knows who he
is here because they don't His fights are on in
Asia at six am Eastern.

Like, I think that's zone being spread out between Netflix
and the Zone and you don't have all these these
apps are I'm telling you. We were just talking about
this with Chris usc Chris, it gets the Derby's on,
but it's on Netflix. Used to just being on whatever
on Fox or whatever, the All Star stuff, and it
just it's getting more and more confused and trying to
keep up with everything where stuff is.

And I think that also a boxing Every time I
go to my barber, so.

He's under the zone, but then he's on this, but
then this one's on that, and I think that doesn't
help at all.

But what we were saying, the stars, I don't know
what it is?

It is it the character like Connor McGregor had to carry,
he had a look. He obviously was also a great fighter,
like where what's happening? Where has it just run its course?
Meaning the NBA, NFL and UH and obviously MLB are
kind of the top dogs in the country. Soccer's inching inching, inching,
and maybe it's Kaitlyn Clark and women's college basketball took

a little just to because remember your fight.

It's like voting.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
If you're a hardcore Republican or heard of the Democrat,
you already know where you are. Don't matter, you ain't budgeting.
It's that moderate in the middle. And maybe that in
the middle was sparsed out right now, Roger. They're a
little bit of WNBA and college women's basketball, and maybe
they're a little bit in the soccer a little bit more,
and maybe that's where you're losing that because if you're
die or US and your die hard, Yeah, but then.

You wouldn't how do you justify what's going on with
Jake Paul. Jake Paul has found like, hey, it doesn't
matter if you're the best fighter anymore. What matters is
that someone you know it's a name you're familiar with,
and people are gonna tune into watching.

What Jake Paul and his partner have done is they
tapped because this is the world they come from. They
tapped into the entertainment aspect of it. There are too
many politics in f UFC and in boxing. It's too
much rent tape, it's too much. Oh this gotta happen,
that gotta happen. We waited five years for the Man
Mannie Floyd fight, like it's too much of that. And

they were like, look, we're gonna give y'all the best
show ever, and it became a thing, a spectacle. Who cares,
We're gonna entertain because it's all entertaining. It's all entertainment.
So we're going to give you an experience, a live
sport experience that you will never forget.

And it's gonna be fun. And that's why they're winning.
I feel like we talked more about Rej getting kocked
out the McGregor when got but that look, people tuning in.

What what What boxing and the UFC have failed to
realize is things are consumed instantly. Now that that is like,
things are consumed. You don't need this you know this
grand a build up or you can just drop to

People watching UFC have as no one that people are
clamoring to see at the level that they were with

Chuck Ladelle go back to Royce Gracie at the beginning,
right when the people don't realize what the UFC used
to be. I loved the USC UFC when I was
in high school because it was no time, no weight class.
It was one person last that was it, no rules,

it was their role rules. A six hundred pound player
person could fight one hundred and thirty five pounder and
it was last man standing. I remember Chuck Ladelle fought

You just heard Chris talking about it ain't money and
Rich Paul saying, well, he doesn't. It's not all about
the ring. He just wants to be the competitive environment.
What are you making all this?

I talked to Rich today. He told me that Lebron
will make his own decision, and he's shared with me
that whatever decision he makes, he's rolling with him. And
he asked me to come on the show as well,
so you may be seeing that very soon as well.
But no, I'll say that with some Lebron's decision, every

edication that I've gotten is that it comes down to
the Cleveland Cavaliers, which is home the Philadelphia seventy six ers.
Those are the two teams that I'm hearing the most.
But I put out a report today over at scoopy
dot com that Lebron has questions about Joel Embiid and
his health and being able to that being conducive to
him being able to operate for a full eighty two

game season in the playoffs. But there are a lot
of connectivities on both sides, particularly on the Northeast Ohio side.
Mike Gancy is the president of basketball operations with the
seventy six ers. He was working in the front office
with the Calves as a GM and was part of
that championship team, and he knows Lebron well. They played.
They were competitors in high school ball, so there's familiarity there.
But Cleveland from every education that I've gotten, there is

mutual interest between Lebron, James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Donovan
Mitchell is on board with Lebron, and so which James
Harden and Kitty Atkinson and his coach of the Calves.
So I'm also told that if Lebron does sign with
the Cleveland Cavaliers. I said this on your show about
Brendan Wims, who was the assistant GM. If Lebron does
sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brendan Wings will become the
GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers with a current vacant position

over in Cleveland.

So essentially.

He's chasing a championship, right, If those are the two teams,
it's not about you know, golf, it's not about playing
with his contemporaries, his friends. It's not about just being comfortable.
It's literally about competing for a championship in the East

and representing the East and in the NBA Championship coming
up next year.

If those are the two teams.

I think it's the combination of the championship and what's
familiar and finishing what you started. Lebron is more closer
to the end of the beginning. I know that Lebron
has all the information that has been relayed from all
front offices. They all met with Rich Paul in Las
Vegas over the last week and some change and basically

it's about finishing what you started and also making making
the choice that's that's right for you. But but I'm
also going to be honest with you, I think Lebron
is dragging this out. That's my personal opinion. Like, if
it's not about money, it's not about opportunity, or it
is about opportunity, it's not about money, go to San Antonio, right,

thank you if it's chipping. But to me, it's about
dictating what you want. You don't have that control in
LA anymore, and you'll have it in Cleveland.

Well, I mean this is interesting because then if you
say well San Antonio, you could also say, well, then
go to Denver and help them there, or you know
a couple of other teams. I want to switch for

of the greatest shows I've ever seen.

he went into a couple of big fights, how he
was like, I wasn't right. I was on a tourn
you know. I think his ACL was messed up or something.
But he kept, you know, he'd be fought through it.
And they were like, yo, you know that's messed up.
Like he knew he was hurt, he didn't know how bad.
And so we've heard many athletes come in, I knew
I had a torn this, I knew you know what
you played it And I've played with all of that exactly.

And so there's a level of like professionalism where it's
one in it's I get you're trying to stay in it,
You're trying to fight, You're trying to push through. You
don't want especially in that sport where you gotta because
at least a football you'll be back next week. Should
it might not even be a whole seven days, right,
Boxing and MMA fights you might have to wait three months,
six months, a year, you know, And so I can
see why you wouldn't want to. But I'll say this,

this is what happens to me, when the stardom gets in,
you lose the stardom. You were the face of this,
this entire league, this organization. You were the guy you
or you broke through and became pop culture, even beyond
just that one sport. You were pop culture. My wife
knows who Connor McGregor is. She could care less about UFC.
She on UFC, KFC, she don't care. And he broke

through that and you were that guy, you know, seven, eight,
nine years ago, whatever it was. And I think when
you lose that, you mix in. He's talked about, you know,
drugs and alcohol issues, obviously injuries, then you get into
the pds and whatnot. I think there's an element of
I'm finally on my bounce back. I can't lose this,
and you overcompensate and you're not really where you are,

and that's how I read this. I think I think
he hurt himself in training camp. I think not as
severe as he is now, but I think he maybe
strained the ligament in training camp. That's why the knee
looked unstable, and I think he was like, I don't
know how how long I'm gonna last in this fight,

so I'm gonna go out and do something I've never
done before and try to land a knockout blow with
a kick right off the bat and landed on the
bad knee.

And so.

He knew it was gonna be over fast either way.
And I think he tried to go out there and
and really perform. I don't think he was in a
space and I don't think UFC was in a space where,
you know, if say hurt this three weeks ago for
them to be like, hey, we're gonna postpone this. It

was too much money, It was too much on the line.
And I just think it was like, all right, I'm
gonna go out there and give it my best shot.
And we got one hundred or a minute nine seconds
worth of nothing.

And and so now again shout out to Max halloway
uh for not you know, teeing off on him. He
was telling the rev Yo, he's not right, come get him.
Something ain't right. Shout out to him, because that could
have been he is got this big star could have
knocked his teeth out. And you know what else too, man,
that that kind of that failure leads to a larger

conversation of just where the UFC is going.

is where you have your diehards, but you also the

So you might not know everything about boxing, but when
Mike Tyson was fighting, you remember that era. Everybody's watching
the Tyson fighter, who's the Floyd at his peak? And
Rob g you are in tune with this, touch with
it more than me UFC and maybe ephim. But just
like that ten years ago run when it was Bone
Jones and you had Ronda and you had McGregor and

you had it was everything chuck with you they had.

It was like a car wash of stars. One would
come down people who transcended the sport, which is the
key thing. And that's something you see a little bit
in boxing, like they've been looking for the next Floyd
Mayweather for a long time.

So we can't find it.

Well, you know what might help fighting, but that's not
because there are a great UFC fight like there are
great fight boxing. If we could just get to fight
more than once a year, that that might help because listen.

You gotta make your well up then you can meet.

This is real, like inside baseball stuff. There are tremendous
boxers that you don't know about.

I don't disagree, but.

Any way, is one of the greatest fighters I've ever seen.
But he's like one hundred and ten pounds. He's Asian,
he don't speak English, and so nobody knows who he
is here because they don't His fights are on in
Asia at six am Eastern.

Like, I think that's zone being spread out between Netflix
and the Zone and you don't have all these these
apps are I'm telling you. We were just talking about
this with Chris usc Chris, it gets the Derby's on,
but it's on Netflix. Used to just being on whatever
on Fox or whatever, the All Star stuff, and it
just it's getting more and more confused and trying to
keep up with everything where stuff is.

And I think that also a boxing Every time I
go to my barber, so.

He's under the zone, but then he's on this, but
then this one's on that, and I think that doesn't
help at all.

But what we were saying, the stars, I don't know

It is it the character like Connor McGregor had to carry,
he had a look. He obviously was also a great fighter,
like where what's happening? Where has it just run its course?
Meaning the NBA, NFL and UH and obviously MLB are
kind of the top dogs in the country. Soccer's inching inching, inching,
and maybe it's Kaitlyn Clark and women's college basketball took

a little just to because remember your fight.

It's like voting.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
If you're a hardcore Republican or heard of the Democrat,
you already know where you are. Don't matter, you ain't budgeting.
It's that moderate in the middle. And maybe that in
the middle was sparsed out right now, Roger. They're a
little bit of WNBA and college women's basketball, and maybe
they're a little bit in the soccer a little bit more,
and maybe that's where you're losing that because if you're
die or US and your die hard, Yeah, but then.

You wouldn't how do you justify what's going on with
Jake Paul. Jake Paul has found like, hey, it doesn't
matter if you're the best fighter anymore. What matters is
that someone you know it's a name you're familiar with,
and people are gonna tune into watching.

What Jake Paul and his partner have done is they
tapped because this is the world they come from. They
tapped into the entertainment aspect of it. There are too
many politics in f UFC and in boxing. It's too
much rent tape, it's too much. Oh this gotta happen,
that gotta happen. We waited five years for the Man
Mannie Floyd fight, like it's too much of that. And

they were like, look, we're gonna give y'all the best
show ever, and it became a thing, a spectacle. Who cares,
We're gonna entertain because it's all entertaining. It's all entertainment.
So we're going to give you an experience, a live
sport experience that you will never forget.

And it's gonna be fun. And that's why they're winning.
I feel like we talked more about Rej getting kocked
out the McGregor when got but that look, people tuning in.

What what What boxing and the UFC have failed to
realize is things are consumed instantly. Now that that is like,
things are consumed. You don't need this you know this

People watching UFC have as no one that people are
clamoring to see at the level that they were with

Chuck Ladelle go back to Royce Gracie at the beginning,
right when the people don't realize what the UFC used
to be. I loved the USC UFC when I was
in high school because it was no time, no weight class.
It was one person last that was it, no rules,

it was their role rules. A six hundred pound player
person could fight one hundred and thirty five pounder and
it was last man standing. I remember Chuck Ladelle fought
Hoys Gracie and Hoys finally beat him, but he couldn't
even continue you because he beat him up so bad.

He would come out there and get in juju Brazilian
jiu jitsu. He had have a gee on. He will
get on your back and he would sit on your
back for twenty minutes until you did this with your arm,
and then he locked you up and had you like that,
and then you tapped out, and then he would go

on to the next and going to the next, going
to the next, and then you fight at the last
fighters standing for the championship. Go back and watch UFC one,
two and three and tell me that wasn't wild.

Well, it was super wild.

But you know, once money gets in and politics and
all that, it changes everything. All right, USC, Chris, I

Rich Paul saying, well, he doesn't. It's not all about
the ring. He just wants to be the competitive environment.
What are you making all this?

I talked to Rich today. He told me that Lebron
will make his own decision, and he's shared with me
that whatever decision he makes, he's rolling with him. And
he asked me to come on the show as well,
so you may be seeing that very soon as well.
But no, I'll say that with some Lebron's decision, every

edication that I've gotten is that it comes down to
the Cleveland Cavaliers, which is home the Philadelphia seventy six ers.
Those are the two teams that I'm hearing the most.
But I put out a report today over at scoopy
dot com that Lebron has questions about Joel Embiid and
his health and being able to that being conducive to
him being able to operate for a full eighty two
(25:23):
game season in the playoffs. But there are a lot
of connectivities on both sides, particularly on the Northeast Ohio side.
Mike Gancy is the president of basketball operations with the
seventy six ers. He was working in the front office
with the Calves as a GM and was part of
that championship team, and he knows Lebron well. They played.
They were competitors in high school ball, so there's familiarity there.
But Cleveland from every education that I've gotten, there is

mutual interest between Lebron, James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Donovan
Mitchell is on board with Lebron, and so which James
Harden and Kitty Atkinson and his coach of the Calves.
So I'm also told that if Lebron does sign with
the Cleveland Cavaliers. I said this on your show about
Brendan Wims, who was the assistant GM. If Lebron does
sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brendan Wings will become the
GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers with a current vacant position

over in Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
So essentially.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
He's chasing a championship, right, If those are the two teams,
it's not about you know, golf, it's not about playing
with his contemporaries, his friends. It's not about just being comfortable.
It's literally about competing for a championship in the East

and representing the East and in the NBA Championship coming
up next year.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
If those are the two teams.
Speaker 8 (26:40):
I think it's the combination of the championship and what's
familiar and finishing what you started. Lebron is more closer
to the end of the beginning. I know that Lebron
has all the information that has been relayed from all
front offices. They all met with Rich Paul in Las
Vegas over the last week and some change and basically

it's about finishing what you started and also making making
the choice that's that's right for you. But but I'm
also going to be honest with you, I think Lebron
is dragging this out. That's my personal opinion. Like, if
it's not about money, it's not about opportunity, or it
is about opportunity, it's not about money, go to San Antonio, right,

thank you if it's chipping. But to me, it's about
dictating what you want. You don't have that control in
LA anymore, and you'll have it in Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Well, I mean this is interesting because then if you
say well San Antonio, you could also say, well, then
go to Denver and help them there, or you know
a couple of other teams. I want to switch for
time sake, I'm going to switch gears here a little
bit away from him.

What are you making of what happened down there?

Well in Vegas, but with those formerly teammates in Miami
with Bam and Tyler Herro, what do you make of that?

Lot's what you say. But I think Banner is as
a playful giant. He's not a I'm not gonna try it.
I mean, he's a couple of inches taller than me.
But I think we we as the as, the as,
the delegation of basketball folks need to really watch what

that I passed you to say? Don't don't write checks
that you can't cash. You gotta be you gotta be careful.
They're both competitors. Talahroo Bam out of Bio and hopefully
they figure that out. I mean, they're on two different teams.

If you asked me, that was MESSI keeping with the
theme of Summer League, it's been a tremendous Summer League
so far, going into the second week, having these young
stars that we've all been clamoring to see after the
draft and after n C double A says, what have
you seen? What has impressed you the most about this
year's Summer League?

Could be all the way honest with you.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Yeah, for sure, I've watched highlights.
Speaker 8 (29:04):
I have enjoyed having a level of normalcy. I'm not
gonna say I've checked out. I've been, you know, obviously
paying attention to what's going on with free agency. But
I've enjoyed a moment of just solitude. But from the
bits and pieces that I did see, I've been saying this,
not going on record, I'm really excited for the future
of the Washington Wizards. An AJ to me it's playing

as advertised. I'm excited to see what that looks like
on paper long term. But that that that's about the
extent of what I really did watch for some of
the league I've kind of enjoyed some peace and quiet.

would be just how he couldn't imagine what that would

look like and to date for him in today's NBA
with social media, because it was so.
