you knew the Nets didn't have a practice facility back then.

At a trucking facilities gym, like in Piscataway, New Jersey
or somewhere crazy. Yeah, that's where I'm telling the NBA
was different back then because I used to travel. I've
told Kelvin Is one thousand times. When I was covering
the NBA, the players, we all flew commercial and I
would sit next to whoever Roy Henson, Sam Bowie on

the flight, Tate George, Yeah, Tate Joe, all those guys,
Chris Morris, Yeah, all those guys on the plane. And
the thing was it didn't go by star status. Veterans
set in first class and you could have been a
big you know, uh draft pick number one pick Dennis
Hopton or you know, top pick Patrick all I got,

and you would sit in the back and coach because
they want enough seats for everybody.

That's kind of in line with when the Vets put
popcorn and rookies cars and they gotta fetch donuts.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
It's just those days are over.

Yeah, these kids they're coming in in title now.

Yeah. School, they're coming in already five to ten million
in these kids are getting three if you're a nil
kid right now, coming in.

But they still do it. I'll say, I don't know
what they do in the NBA like at like before.

But even in baseball, they still make these guys, you
know this Kelvin they dress up in certain outfits.

Let's get into last night Game one NBA Finals, the
next table the back ended up with I think it
was a ten point victory for them. Obviously, Jalen Brunson
does what Brunson does. He was mister clutch last year.
SGA wons it this year. But Brunton say, hey, hold
my beer, let me go remind him.

What do you make of the game?
Speaker 1 (04:14):
One you could say, hey, the Spurs won't play as bad.
Other you could just say, that's now twelve in a
row for the Knicks, and clearly maybe this is just
who they are.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I look at it dually.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Number One, I note that the popular conversation is that
the Knicks came back in the second half, but really
they came back in the third quarter and the fourth
quarter was just theirs. I really look at the Spurs situation.
Weinby scoring sixteen points. To me, wasn't enough. Dylan Harper
rose to the occasion, and Chimpagne did this thing. But
(04:44):
I think the part that gets lost in translation with
the Knicks and particularly Brunton, is the performance that Karl
Anthony Towns had. I mean those twelve rebounds, and then
the fact that Hart was hauling down rebounds, and the
fact that you had so many other guys. It's not
just Brunson, it's a collective group that's been really fun
to watch this season.

Well, I mean, there's a lot of stuff there, and
they've played really well. When you win twelve games in
a row. A lot of stuff has to happen, and
of course you get a lot of contributions from a
lot of people. But it's going to be interesting. The
Spurs have been able to bounce back. Wemby is famous
for so far bouncing back, coming up with big games
in big situations. I just expect a different game from them,
(05:23):
not six for twenty one. And I'm going to predict
that Karl Anthony Towns will there will be a couple
of whistles to just push them off on and be
a little I mean, but that's that's not just in
this case. I've seen it my whole time. You know
this covering the NBA, and you.

Know it's interesting. It's the best of seven series. I
mean in college, I remember playing Connect four and I
remember the first two moves that the opponents make. You're
feeling out the other opponent, the Knicks one, you know,
the first draw. But I don't think that that is
indicative upon a whole series. When you look at the
San Antonio Spurs, they beat the reigning NBA champions, You look.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
At seven games on the road, right exactly.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Yeah, and they're a young squad. I don't even think
they are who they're supposed to beat. Throughout the course
of the season, I felt that the Spurs were a
Draymond Green type of player, away like a vet from
making it and winning it.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
So wait a minute, they needed a bad podcast in
order to win a championship.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Listen, I'm not trying to get no phone calls.
Speaker 2 (06:27):

You know, Listen, I'm outside, I'm I'm outside, okay. But
but I do think that when you look at the
Spurs organization, Mitch Johnson, their head coach is literally Luke
Skywalker and he's got Yoda up in the stands and
Greg Popovich. I think the national audience is still getting
used to who he is. And I think that that
dichotomy of the Spurs at large is less familiar. People
(06:58):
know Wemby and when you look at the Knicks, you
know Brunson. I think what I'm going to enjoy about
this best the seven series is getting to know the
rest of the guys.

But when you look at him throughout this year and

Can I tell you how intertwined Stephan Castle is with

His dad, Stacy Castle, new York legend, played high school
ball in New York City, was a teammate of Tim
Duncan for a bit at wake Forest during I think
it's I think Tim Duncan was an upperclassman of stacy
guys that might be in reversed, but nonetheless he was
born to be a spur, a guy who was overlooked.

In twenty twenty two was a McDonald's All American in
the World where Brownie James was the head of that class.
And he comes in after being at Yukon and has
totally dominated. And it's crazy because I think he doesn't
know the star he is, but I think that he's
surrounded by a collection of other stars not named Wemby,
and I think it's kind of a balance. It's funny

he's so young. I was with him last week. There
was a trending topic on Twitter where I said, Yo,
do you know that people are saying that you look
like John Amos. He looks at me and goes, John Amos,
who is that? And then he goes the guy from
coming to America. He goes, what's that? I felt old?
I felt old on hold on school.

Now, I know we we might be old, and I'm
older than you, but dang it, he's got to know
coming to him as a black person in America. When
you come out the when you come out to Mama's womb,
the doctor smashing the booty, and then the first thing
he does is make you watch him into America.

The boy got his own money. Even when I say
the boy.

But there are reruns. Oh my god, you don't have

take care of his family.

I know where the finals are going on, but anything
that we should be looking for players moving on Trey,
any kind of things maybe happening.

Or where around as Okay, so Lebron Jay, let's start
there perfect perfectly. The Lakers can offer him the most money. However,
they don't want to. There you go, they do not
want to. You filled in the blank for me. And
so if you look at an alternate team, the conversations
that I've been having about the Cleveland Cavaliers is something
that is realistic. In order for that to happen, there
(11:17):
are some mathematics that have to make sense from sources
around the league. First of all, James Harden is going
to have to restructure that deal, and I'm told that
Lebron James doesn't necessarily want to sign a max extension
with the Cavaliers. In fact, he would take less money
to come back home. But in order for that to
also happen, the Cavaliers are hoping that he takes some
type of mid level exception one and two, that he
(11:40):
completes a sign and trade with the Los Angeles Lakers
in order to make that happen, So you would have
to move a Jared Allen on others. However, in order
to add more to that pot Dean Wade or as
well as Max Struce would have to potentially be moved
as well. So those are some of the things that
I'm hearing. As far as the Cleveland Cavaliers also, they
currently have a V and GM position out there, and
(12:02):
Brandon Wiens, who is currently the assistant GM, is a
guy who grew up with Lebron James and Akron. He
is a guy that is one of the candidates in
that conversation they're talking about staying internal. However, one thing
that I am hearing is that the Cavaliers are entertaining
a conversation of potentially talking to David Griffin about that
GM position as well.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
So now the Commissioner spoke on it about the Clippers
investigation with Kawhi and that phony company that went under
or whatever and stole everybody's money.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
And he said, yeah, we need to wrap this up soon,
like the league.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Hello, I don't I don't even I don't know if
I really trust the league's investigation, because they cleared Terry
Rojier right like seriously, and and now not only is
he indicted, now another one came down, you know what
I mean. So I don't know what's what's happening here.

Typically when the league is having the finals or the
Star Game, you're not gonna see announcements coming.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
No, I agree with that. I foresee. This hasn't been
going on all year.

I mean, respectfully, I think pabulatory. I kind of already
told you what happened. I think it's more about the
formalities of it. I expect that conversation to take place
shortly after the finals are over.

And what what are you hearing?

You have any kind of insight? This is just because
I don't see them. Steve Balmer is so rich. I
don't see some some real bad just new arena, right,
I know, I just I don't see it. Now, if
you tell me, they're gonna throw a hammer at him
and make him sell a team or do something.

I don't not buying any of that conversations that I've had,
I've not heard anything that suggests that they would make
him sell the team. You've kind of had this controversy
already with the Los Angeles Clippers, specifically with a former owner.
I do think that that if a punishment is handed down,
it's more of a fine. I don't I don't see
if they if those findings suggest on their end that

something happens. But I do think it's interesting that while
we're talking about the Clippers and we're talking about that investigation,
conversations about Kawhi Leonard's future have also been brought up.
And to me, if he leaves the Clippers and goes elsewhere,
you kind of have a wiggle room to sweep it

under the rug. If you're looking at an optics perspective,
he leaves, they find him, you go about your business.

more money than anybody you know except maybe five other people,

Spurs have been able to bounce back. Wemby is famous
for so far bouncing back, coming up with big games
in big situations. I just expect a different game from them,

not six for twenty one. And I'm going to predict
that Karl Anthony Towns will there will be a couple
of whistles to just push them off on and be
a little I mean, but that's that's not just in
this case. I've seen it my whole time. You know
this covering the NBA, and you.

Know it's interesting. It's the best of seven series. I
mean in college, I remember playing Connect four and I
remember the first two moves that the opponents make. You're
feeling out the other opponent, the Knicks one, you know,
the first draw. But I don't think that that is
indicative upon a whole series. When you look at the
San Antonio Spurs, they beat the reigning NBA champions, You look.

Yeah, and they're a young squad. I don't even think
they are who they're supposed to beat. Throughout the course
of the season, I felt that the Spurs were a
Draymond Green type of player, away like a vet from
making it and winning it.

So wait a minute, they needed a bad podcast in
order to win a championship.

but I do think that when you look at the
Spurs organization, Mitch Johnson, their head coach is literally Luke
Skywalker and he's got Yoda up in the stands and
Greg Popovich. I think the national audience is still getting
used to who he is. And I think that that
dichotomy of the Spurs at large is less familiar. People

know Wemby and when you look at the Knicks, you
know Brunson. I think what I'm going to enjoy about
this best the seven series is getting to know the
rest of the guys.

His dad, Stacy Castle, new York legend, played high school
ball in New York City, was a teammate of Tim
Duncan for a bit at wake Forest during I think
it's I think Tim Duncan was an upperclassman of stacy
guys that might be in reversed, but nonetheless he was
born to be a spur, a guy who was overlooked.

In twenty twenty two was a McDonald's All American in
the World where Brownie James was the head of that class.
And he comes in after being at Yukon and has
totally dominated. And it's crazy because I think he doesn't
know the star he is, but I think that he's
surrounded by a collection of other stars not named Wemby,
and I think it's kind of a balance. It's funny

he's so young. I was with him last week. There
was a trending topic on Twitter where I said, Yo,
do you know that people are saying that you look
like John Amos. He looks at me and goes, John Amos,
who is that? And then he goes the guy from
coming to America. He goes, what's that? I felt old?
I felt old on hold on school.

Now, I know we we might be old, and I'm
older than you, but dang it, he's got to know
coming to him as a black person in America. When
you come out the when you come out to Mama's womb,
the doctor smashing the booty, and then the first thing
he does is make you watch him into America.

The boy got his own money. Even when I say
the boy.

Got his own money, the boy has got his own money.

But there are reruns. Oh my god, you don't have
to be alive. They're reruns. People don't watch reruns. All

lot of shows back then. The father was always absentee
on all black shows, and this was the one. I think,
uh uh, that's the role, you know, demanded that they
have a father on the show, you know what I mean.
And even in the case he's a father there, he

was there, strong father. But of course he could barely
take care of his family.

He's working at the car wash, so they're.

Gonna be huxtable, you know what I mean.

But he was there and that was a really good
show living in the projects and all that a lot
of people could relate to that.

It really did give us some scoop, be some information
on the off season.

I know where the finals are going on, but anything
that we should be looking for players moving on Trey,
any kind of things maybe happening.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Or where around as Okay, so Lebron Jay, let's start
there perfect perfectly. The Lakers can offer him the most money. However,
they don't want to. There you go, they do not
want to. You filled in the blank for me. And
so if you look at an alternate team, the conversations
that I've been having about the Cleveland Cavaliers is something
that is realistic. In order for that to happen, there

are some mathematics that have to make sense from sources
around the league. First of all, James Harden is going
to have to restructure that deal, and I'm told that
Lebron James doesn't necessarily want to sign a max extension
with the Cavaliers. In fact, he would take less money
to come back home. But in order for that to
also happen, the Cavaliers are hoping that he takes some
type of mid level exception one and two, that he
(11:40):
completes a sign and trade with the Los Angeles Lakers
in order to make that happen, So you would have
to move a Jared Allen on others. However, in order
to add more to that pot Dean Wade or as
well as Max Struce would have to potentially be moved
as well. So those are some of the things that
I'm hearing. As far as the Cleveland Cavaliers also, they
currently have a V and GM position out there, and
(12:02):
Brandon Wiens, who is currently the assistant GM, is a
guy who grew up with Lebron James and Akron. He
is a guy that is one of the candidates in
that conversation they're talking about staying internal. However, one thing
that I am hearing is that the Cavaliers are entertaining
a conversation of potentially talking to David Griffin about that
GM position as well.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
So now the Commissioner spoke on it about the Clippers
investigation with Kawhi and that phony company that went under
or whatever and stole everybody's money.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
And he said, yeah, we need to wrap this up soon,
like the league.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Hello, I don't I don't even I don't know if
I really trust the league's investigation, because they cleared Terry
Rojier right like seriously, and and now not only is
he indicted, now another one came down, you know what
I mean. So I don't know what's what's happening here.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
Typically when the league is having the finals or the
Star Game, you're not gonna see announcements coming.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
No, I agree with that. I foresee. This hasn't been
going on all year.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
I mean, respectfully, I think pabulatory. I kind of already
told you what happened. I think it's more about the
formalities of it. I expect that conversation to take place
shortly after the finals are over.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
And what what are you hearing?
Speaker 4 (13:19):
You have any kind of insight? This is just because
I don't see them. Steve Balmer is so rich. I
don't see some some real bad just new arena, right,
I know, I just I don't see it. Now, if
you tell me, they're gonna throw a hammer at him
and make him sell a team or do something.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
I don't not buying any of that conversations that I've had,
I've not heard anything that suggests that they would make
him sell the team. You've kind of had this controversy
already with the Los Angeles Clippers, specifically with a former owner.
I do think that that if a punishment is handed down,
it's more of a fine. I don't I don't see
if they if those findings suggest on their end that
(13:56):
something happens. But I do think it's interesting that while
we're talking about the Clippers and we're talking about that investigation,
conversations about Kawhi Leonard's future have also been brought up.
And to me, if he leaves the Clippers and goes elsewhere,
you kind of have a wiggle room to sweep it
(14:18):
under the rug. If you're looking at an optics perspective,
he leaves, they find him, you go about your business.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
That's a good point.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
I was just gonna say, you find somebody who has
more money than anybody you know except maybe five other people,
and so you find them, Hey, here a fifteen million
dollar fine.

No, And then, also, like you mentioned, Kawhi is gone,
there's a non starter, and not to mention even with
Kawhi's here, it's a non start.
