Hundreds of Local Sanitation Workers Strike; 16 Communities Affected

He sees the trucks buzzing around his town every morning.

Every day, so I haven't seen him today yet.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Blue Republic Service trash bins still line the streets in
some sections of Canton.

Speaker 4 (00:09):
Yeah, good luck with that. They're not going anywhere.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Now that members of the local twenty five Teamsters union
have gone on strike demanding better wages and conditions for
sanitation workers.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Those guys work hard, they cleep the streets.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Clean streets, and more than a dozen base day communities
like Canton and others nationwide could be impacted if a
deal isn't reached, sparking concern among these residents that trash
containers at home and at local businesses will fill up quickly.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Gonna be a very smelly fought of July.

Speaker 5 (00:36):
I mean that's going to pile up. We're gonna have
a smelly town.

Speaker 6 (00:39):
Have you received any notification from the town what to
do with that?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
No, I have not.
