MBTA Opens New Train Station In North Wilmington

The new station is full of new tech like electronic
schedule boards and a forest of street lamps, along with
some other upgrades for rider comfort and accessibility, like a
level boarding ramp and a canopy for shelter. But one
other thing on people's mind is safety. The actual platform
of the station has been moved further away from the street,
which will allow for the train to not block the
street when it's stopped, something residents say has been an issue,

particularly for emergency vehicles.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
This has always been a problem area with the police,
the ambulances trying to get by. But now the way
things are going, this sounds like they got the problem solved.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
And with the new station comes new development in the future,
and residents are excited to see the new neighborhood take shape.
Gino owns a guitar shop next to the station, and
he's a little more reserved.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Well, I'm worried about all the years of construction, but
at the same time, yeah, I know it would be
good for business from Wilmington.
