'Peas For Fees': Salem Accepts Canned Goods To Waive Late Parking Fees

When you don't pay your parking tickets, they tend to
rack up late fees, which you'd usually pay with money usually,
but in Salem this time of year they do something
different called peas for fees. People with moldering tickets there
can give them the old canned food that's been sitting
in the pantry and get those fees wiped. The program
runs during the holiday season now until two days before Christmas.
The food goes to local food pantries and the city

will forgive up to thirty bucks of late fees. It's
an annual program which the city says has worked well
