The Protecting Massachusetts Community's Coalition rallied at the State House
ahead of key hearings on a series of bills to
push back against ICE. The bills call for local police
departments to not work with ICE, either by assisting in
raids or by signing up for a deputization program that
would see cops work as agents. They also call for
the creation of a legal defense fund to help fight deportations.
Laura Rotolo is with the ACLU and says these are

unprecedented times, even for them.

Unprecedented times require action. There is no one thing that
one person can do that's going to stop the mass
deportation plan, but it must begin here.

Jose Arias is a TPS holder and a business owner.
He says immigration enforcement is making workers and their children scared.

That trauma we are put in our kids today, they're
going to have consequences later.
