Speaker 1 (00:00):
Having a bat collide with the person out of doors
is exceedingly rare.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's a sort of chain reaction in nature where mosquito
larva get their wings around Mother's Day, swarm waterside humans
and then the bats come out to gobble them up.
In some cases around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir, the bats
are getting close too close to nighttime joggers while lunging
for the bugs, even breaking skin in some cases.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
It's definitely not like Southeast Asia where I'm from, but
they like just caves full of bats and every night
they come swarming out in the millions.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Last year, barred owls were thumping runners on the shoulder
to ward them out of hunting grounds at Fresh Pond
and Cambridge. This year, the city's ranger, Tim Popolo is
talking bats.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
We will be expecting the mosquito season to just be
kicking off this week, which is also the start of
all the mosquito eating animals, including baths

Speaker 2 (00:48):
