I recently viewed Marshmallow 2025 on Flixtor win. The narrative centers on a socially awkward young man who is not particularly excited about returning to summer camp, yet he hopes it may help him make some friends. Shortly after his arrival, he begins to observe unusual occurrences, and violent incidents start to transpire. It swiftly becomes apparent that something is amiss at camp this year. Could it all be linked to the customary campfire tale they always recount? The film is helmed by Daniel DelPurgatorio, marking his directorial debut, and features performances by Kue Lawrence, Giorgia Whigham, Corbin Bernsen, Alysia Reiner, and Miya Cech. For enthusiasts of 80s summer camp slashers, this film offers a contemporary twist on the genre, reminiscent of Cabin in the Woods, with additional science fiction elements incorporated. The performances are robust across the board, and the cinematography is noteworthy. The practical effects are particularly remarkable—classic, straightforward gore that aligns perfectly with the genre and is executed with great precision. The storyline maintains a consistent sense of intrigue, although the ultimate revelation may be more predictable than the director intended. Nevertheless, I genuinely appreciated the direction the narrative took. I only wish they had revealed a bit more at the conclusion, especially after tantalizing us with such impressive effects throughout.
