Brooklyn Boys.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Start up, dot uf dot up. They making noise dot up,
start up, Up Up up, dot up. Episode three eighty two.
It's the Brooklyn Boys Podcast. Hello David Brody, Hello, Scary Jones.
What you're doing? Oh? You know, looking forward to getting
(00:30):
this over with and then going swimming, but getting this
you're AAI with Let me a phraise, now complain this
awesome thing that we do. I only say that because
you you put this off for like forty five minutes. License,
do you hear this?
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Man?
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Let me let me explain slices. I love doing this,
but Scary wanted to do this at a certain time.
And then when I said okay, he's like in fifteen minutes,
twenty minutes, he keeps backing it up, backing it up,
so he's backing that ass up. Well, now I'm happy
to be here, Bliver I have Yeah, go ahead, you're
you're you want to go swimming on probably one of
(01:04):
the shittier days of the year. I mean, the county,
the Canadian wildfires are happening. It's it's smoky out there.
It's grossed. I can't see the sun. I could barely,
you know, I could. I can barely see the Empire
State Building from where I sit. And if you know
where I sit, I have a clear view of the
Empire State Building. It's insane. It's smoggy and foggy and gross.
(01:25):
Why do you want to go swimming in that? Uh?
Michael Martin Murphy sang the song Wildfire perfect trant called
in wild anyway? So yeah, why why do you want
to go swimming? And where I live? Because where I
live it's clear, it's beautiful out and it's like eighty
three to eighty four degrees. So I don't you know,
it's good for me. I don't know about you. It's
good for you. Fire all right? Yeah? Sea for You?
(01:51):
Was that similar Gomez and the scene I don't know
if that was the scene Love You like a love
love song was part of it? Well, yeah, it's okay,
all right. Uh this reminder, I was with Selena Gomez
the first time she ever heard one of her songs
on the radio. This is how I said, Hey, you're
on the radio. Oh my god. She didn't even realize it.
So I may have said that told that story before.
She won't remember. But if she remembered the first time
(02:12):
she ever heard a song on the radio and you said,
was there a guy standing next to you? She'd be like,
maybe that was me and her mom. Anyway, this is
episode three eighty two. Now I need a favor from
especially people who have start Thank you people who started
listening to us in April of this year of twenty
twenty six, when we ended up in the Elvis Drand
(02:33):
Podcast Network folder. So what I think is happening is
you guys go in to listen to the Elvis Durand
show right the phone tap and the horoscopes and whatever
segments that you missed on the show on the Big Show,
and you see our podcast, You're like, oh, Brooklyn boys
have a new episode, and you go and listen. But
sometimes because Elvis has a show every day, we only
(02:53):
have a show once a week, right, So if we
post the episode and it's not the day you went
looking in the Elvis Durant folder, you might not think
of us as top of mind. You might not see
our podcast and you may have to scroll like twelve
inches down to find us. So I'm noticing what happening
is Sometimes if we release a podcast on a certain day,
on a good day, if it's the right exact moment
(03:14):
we get I make up a number. Now, let's say
thirty thousand people listen the first week, right, but sometimes
eleven thousand people listen the first week. So I feel
like we really need you, people who enjoy this podcast,
to subscribe to the Brooklyn Boys podcast on whatever platform
you listen, so you're notified a new episode. You'll get
the notification and your text message data and message rates applying.
(03:39):
What is it? Nobody Nobody pays for text anymore, and
we don't need to legally say that the radio stations do. Okay,
I'm just curious because sometimes our episodes are very big,
and sometimes they're a medium big. Sometimes they're just big big.
And prior to this boost of new listeners, we were
always consistently getting around the same amount. All the regulars
listened every week, and I was fine, right rollercoastering. So
(04:02):
if you feel like, oh, three eighty two, I think
I listened to the last Dame, I listened to one
episode last week. You're missing some you know, we think
you're missing great content. So we would hope that you
will listen in order and listen. Not everyone has time
to go back. We understand that. But if you want
to catch every episode and you don't remember what number
you listen to, U either automatically download or subscribe and
(04:22):
don't miss an episode. Yes, Gary and I we work
hard for you. Now, even though I want to go
swimming later, yeah, and it'll be later, we have to
we have to delay that by an hour. I've got
plenty to talk about. I'm excited. Okay, that's I told you.
I'm gonna I'm gonna blow the lid off. Sprinkles, sprinkle,
Why sprinkles? And why is this directed at me? Well,
it's not directed at you, okay, but you want to
(04:43):
do that. You don't to blow the lid off? Right now?
Could you talk about this crazy phenomenon? And one are
the odds the phenomenon? Dude? Do dude? Well phenomenon? So well,
let's start with here. Let's start here because this will
be a minute. You know, Spain playing Argentina now in
the World Cup final set for this coming Sunday. Did
Spain win? They beat France? I'm not aware, yes, yeah,
(05:05):
so a couple of points. So now England lost to
Argentina and France lost to Spain. So Sunday is the
World Cup final where the two winners meet, but on
Saturday they have the Loser Bowl. It's the fight for
third place. So France plays England on Saturday because they
(05:27):
were the two losers. Now they've often competed in wars
and things. Yeah, in Czech history you'll see. But by
the way, I saw a great tweet from Sean from
wfa N. He said, oh, England lost on American soil again,
big surprise, Hio. It's very funny something like that. My
question is soccer fans, isn't that a little anti climactic?
(05:49):
Like who wants to watch the loser Bowl on Saturday?
I mean, first of all, if you're a fan of
either of those teams, it's all sour grapes. It's like,
all right, so what Yeah, but the bronze is nice
because if you're in the Olympics, you still want the
bronze and you still want the third place. I don't know,
so it just feels weird. They don't I don't think
it really does that. They don't do that in other sports.
(06:11):
It's like except the Olympics, you know, but it's basically
you know, look, but no major competitive sports have like okay,
because usually it was a knockout all the way, just
you know, losing, lose, you know, win or go home
kind of attitude. But they're not going home. So how
do you think the players of these teams feel that
they have to stick around for another game? I don't know.
(06:33):
It's what you're getting there, getting paid, I guess, or
endorsements whatever. I don't know. I got some questions about soccer.
I mean, these are not questions that I need you
to leave and talk back and answer for me. They're
just I understand them. I just don't get it. If
that makes sense, right, Like I get it, I just
don't get it. Number One the mystery time at the
end of the game, where they just add mystery time.
I understand why they do it. I just don't get
(06:54):
it right. I want to know how much time you
don't want to tell the players, like this strategy involved.
If you know you have nine minutes or seven minutes,
you might play differently correct. Also as a viewer, I
want to know how much tension I should feel. Do
they have a minute left? They have three minutes left?
It's ridiculous. Do they just add miscellaneous water brakes and
It's just what they should do is play with the
(07:15):
clock stoppage where for the for the you know the
time that day. Yeah yeah, So this way you could
see a clock counting down trauma. There's and this is
not a sports podcast. I apologize, as I always do,
but if the ball goes out of bounds, they don't
stop the clock. They don't. So I was watching England
and Argentina because I was I was at somebody's house
that had it on. And the ball goes out of bounds,
(07:37):
the team that's winning takes their own sweet time. I
gotta ball, throw the ball in a minute, give me
a minute. The clock's running. There's no motivation. No look,
I know they get a yellow car if they take
too long, but they should have like stop the clock,
right They ridiculous. Also, again, I'm not a soccer expert,
and I don't need you to tell me why. I'm
just saying I get it. I just don't get it
now in basketball, which is a much smaller court, and
(08:00):
I've always said the soccer field's too big, you know,
I've said that on this podcast. Yep. In basketball, when
the point guard is bringing the ball up from one
end to the other, by the time he gets to
mid court, the defense swarms him. Right, they get in
front of him and they make or her if you
watch the WNBA, and they make sure that the point
guard doesn't have free movement, right. But watching soccer, they
(08:24):
let the offense come from all the way by their goal,
all the way to mid court, midfield, all the way
to three quarters to the net, and then they start
playing defense. So I'm yelling at the TV. As little
as I care about soccer, I'm like, why aren't they
like running up and trying to slow them down, make
them earn it, wear them out. Nope, they're let in
(08:44):
Argentina come three quarters and then they got right let's place.
Because what I was told was after they scored England
scored their first goal with and it was one nil,
they changed their strategy to play just defense and not
go on the offensive and not try and still continue
to score goals. They were like, okay, well we're gonna
just try and like prevent prevent them. Right, It's stupid,
(09:07):
but anyway that that defense. So they kept letting Argentina
get into their end. And so you've you've taken away
You've given them the opportunity to get close every time,
and for like twenty minutes England spent I'm sorry England,
Argentina was practically camped out living in the England half
of the field. Don't I don't get it. That was
(09:28):
a terrible it was terrible strategy on England's part and
they paid the price for it. Now the crazy phenomena
that I was talking about, dude, Now that Argentina won
and they faced Spain, you know that, you know the
two strikers, the two main people. Well, well it's Messy
is the name, the guy on the Argentina. But he's
(09:48):
like pretty much like the Lebron James, the Michael Jordan
of the entire sport. He's the best in the business.
He's the best in the business. We're highly regarded. And
the story for that, well he is face seeing what
the Spain striker where. Now, the two guys have this
one thing in common. Back when Messi was twenty years old,
(10:11):
this guy on the main guy on Spain was like
six months old. He was a baby. The mother. The
mother applied for a co a contest with the UNICEF
and won the contest, and the contest was to meet
Messi and take a picture with Messi. So there's a
(10:32):
picture out there, it's not Ai, folks, of a twenty
year old Messi with the six month old striker from
the Spain team. He will he will have would have
gone go on to become the main guy for Spain.
And this dude, Yamal Yaman, I think his name is Yamin,
whatever his name is, but I'm going to tell you
(10:53):
what I think his name is. It's Leamne Yamal Jama Jamal,
It's Jamal. So this dude, dude now is facing Messi
in the World Cup final. What are the fucking odds,
rita one, No, it's not because one of the odds,
this dude was gonna take a picture with Messi when
he was like six months old and then go on
(11:16):
to become the best, one of the best in the
fucking sport like Messi and then it's insane. So this
guy's ladies, this picture is out there of a twenty
year old Messi with this six month old kid. Just
know they're gonna face each other in the finals this Sunday.
To me, that's mind boggling. That is ah crazy moment.
(11:39):
A million millions of to one. I mean Anyway, Remember
this guy has to go on and have a career,
a soccer career, a big you know, and then make
it to the finals of the World Cup. And Argentina
had to do the same with Messi all these years later. Anyway, crazy,
it's tremendous, but tremendous, all right. Anyway, you listen, sometimes
(12:02):
little kids we take pictures with celebrities and become famous actors. Right,
but do they face them in the finals. It's crazy, No,
they don't face them in the finals. No, anyway, No, right, anyway,
I know, soccer talk. That's well, that was more of
just an oh wow moment that has nothing to do
with soccer. It was was was was your coworker Danielle
from the Elvis Durran Show very upset today. There's her
husband's British and our kids rout England. They all were
(12:24):
for England. They are an England household, and yeah, they're
they're very upset. But you know, Danielle made a statement
on the air today. It was very sweet, very heartfelt.
A lot of listeners related and resonated with them. And
you know, Danielle's just happy that Americans finally discovered and
care about soccer and tomorrow twentieth you know, because we
got the host we had, we got to host it.
(12:45):
It's great. And again when I when we say Americans
don't care as much for soccer, we mean you're multi
generational Americans, not people that came from other countries. They
cared about soccer. There's a closest that that has occurred
in the country they didnas No, Pride is terrific, but
America has other things to focus on. Yeah, it's like
(13:06):
New York. There's so much going on here. It's hard
for like everyone to like all rally around one thing. Yeah, okay,
although we did rally around the next say, and Taylor
Swifts wedding, I will be right back, will we. Oh
by the way, were you at Taels Swifts wedding? Did
you get an invite? Uh? No, that's not got lost
in the mail, did you No? But let's talk about
DJs when we get back, djar and Rody. I got
(13:33):
a picture behind me. You know, if this was a
video podcast, the slices would see this is a Keith
Harring painting or you know, you know, he's like the
cartoonist dude. Yeah, died unfortunately years ago of eight, but
as a framed picture and it's a it says DJ
on it and the guy's got doing the wiki wiki
with the two turntables, Yes, but no microphone. Two turntables,
(13:53):
no microphone. Uh. I'm glad that you and I didn't
do this trend, but a lot of people did and
got called out for it. All the radio personalities that
were posting pictures saying, like with a picture with Taylor
Swift saying, oh, I hope my invitations in the mail
they or they did ai pictures of themselves outside Madison
Square Garden like it was. It was a joke that
(14:13):
was beaten to death. And I think if you did
it like you were the first person to do it.
But once every DJ in America for the most part,
puts up a picture like, oh, one of tell us,
what's gonna invite me? Whatever? You know, it was a
little hackey at that point, don't you think I would say?
Speaker 3 (14:28):
So?
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Yeah, we didn't even go there. We did, honestly think
Elvis was gonna get invited, but he didn't. One of
our friends from the record label got invited and went
and had a great time. I spoke with him and
then Ryan Seacrest was also invited, but then he had
something else to do. But he did that thing. He
(14:49):
did that thing, Brody where he got the credit showed
everybody that he was invited. He goes, yeah, I was invited,
and he really was. But he said, oh, but I
have I have to do the this thing for ABC.
And he literally didn't go to the wedding because he
had something else going on with fireworks in the fourth
of July. Yeah, he had to tape a special, but
(15:10):
he made it known, which is so nice. Now I
know people that were at the wedding. I know people
personally who are there. I know her manager and her
road manager. I know people on her team personally, but
I wasn't going to reach out to them and ask
him for an invite. That's like I get concert tickets sometimes,
but I would never do that. But they I'm sure
(15:30):
they were air you know. Speaking of concert we didn't
we didn't do the we didn't do the DJ concerts.
I went to see Ariana Grande Gone on Monday night.
She was phenomenal. Oh my god, Brodie, she was so good.
That is the That is the word of the episode.
By the way, phenomenal phenomenally. She was. You know, I
grew up listening to Ariana Grandee and so it was.
(15:53):
She wasn't born when you were growing up on a
hit factory. I mean, you forget how deep her catalog is.
She seen her catalog, but I'm sure at this point
she hits pretty deep. And you know, contrary to popular belief,
she was singing. She has some voice on her, but
you already know that the things she can't sing, she no.
(16:14):
People were thinking, well, how does she dance? She sings
because she's got a show that's all choreographed and stuff,
but she knows how to do it, you know, the
right way she lets Oh yeah, yeah. She definitely had
guide tracks with her and stuff like that, but she
had you know, the real band on stage rocking out.
She her her The setup was similar to like a
like a Taylor Swift, the way she had that like
(16:36):
long runway, so you know, she kept walking all over
the place, and the whole arena got got a little
up close with with Ariana. But she was great and
despite some technical difficulties which were embarrassing, uh, she made
it through and she she crushed it. She crushed all
her vocals and if she comes to your city, goat,
(16:59):
you know, have a chance to see her do it.
But her tickets are stupid expensive, right now, Yeah, they're
like they're like light switch, like three light switch expensive
all right, Chli poo oh yeah, light switch right, good, Well,
all those references to light switch. You never said Charlie
Pooth before. I think I did on someone. I remember
when he first that song was a single. He came
(17:20):
on the morning show and talked about his how he
wrote it and what the inspiration was for this song. Anyway,
back in the day talk, we've been talking about regionalisms
because in New York we say online or inline depending
on whatever we come out with. And also the same
way we say radiator and radiator and the two different things.
That's just New York, right, The radiator is radiator, the
(17:45):
radiators in your house, the radiators in your car. Even
though it's the same thing, we pronounce each one differently.
Don't ask why, I have no idea, but now so
I have been spending time around, thank you. Yeah, I'll
get I'll get to so. Anyway, some of my cousins.
(18:05):
My cousin married a guy from the Philadelphia area and
she moved down there, so they live down in the
outside of Philadelphia, and so they sometimes she I will
catch her using a Philadelphia expression and I go, oh,
come on, You're in New York and it's got to stop, right,
So I I just I drew the line. I drew
the line because she said something to her husband, said
(18:29):
something about Jimmy's, and I just was like, no, they're
fucking sprinkles. I'm not getting into this to stop it.
Stop it. You're in New York, the Sprinkles. So it
was like, no, they're Jimmy's. So it's crazy, by the way,
it's crazy you're mentioning that because Elvis accused me falsely
on the air of calling them Jimmy's. And I know,
(18:50):
I don't call them Jimmy's, call them sprinkle Who does
what region are we talking about that calls calls them Jimmy's.
So for the most part in the in the northeast
of America, the only places that call them Jimmies are
Philadelphia or the regional area of Philly connect Pennsylvania and
New England, yeah, surrounding area. I did some research as
(19:15):
to why that is. There's one of two different theories,
but The prevalent one is that a company in nineteen thirty,
the company that makes peeps born originally from Brooklyn but
then moved to uh Pennsylvania. They had a machine that
made sprinkles, and the guy who operated the machine's name
was Jimmy James Bartholomew, so they called them machine the
(19:36):
Jimmy Machine because he operated it. Now, again, this could
be an old wives tale, but this is what the
Interennet says is most likely the people that claim that
that's where the name came from, that they decided to
rename the product. Now here's the weird thing. If they're chocolate,
they're Jimmy's. If they're rainbow, they're called rainbow sprinkles. If
they're on a donut, they're sprinkles. They're only Jimmies. If
(19:59):
they're chocolate and on ice cream, that's and then this
is according to people who accept the word Jimmy's to
begin with yeah, correct, correct. However, research, according to my research,
has shown that prior to this company referring to them
as Jimmy's, other ice cream companies in Philadelphia called them sprinkles.
(20:20):
Even the chans right, which means much like we say
Scotch tape and once you xerox that for me or
FedEx that even when you're using ups or people in
this country call every friggin soda coke. The brand name
has become the name, so you call them jimmies because
regionally that's what like, you know, they call them that. Yeah, yeah, Okay.
(20:45):
It's like in New Jersey, there's no such thing as Taylor. Hands.
Don't start with this. Hold on, hold on, It's only
ham made by a company called Taylor, so they're known
for it. But if you don't know the company, or
you're from South Jersey where Taylor isn't a big deal,
correct pork roll and by the way, Taylor and says
(21:05):
it on the fucking package, it's is Taylor pork roll.
So you could say Taylor ham if you want, but
it's not. That's not proper. And here I am in
North Jersey, agreeing with the southern part of the state. Yeah,
scary could get a baseball back to his head the
same because I'm here in Jersey Hobok, in Jersey City,
(21:25):
They're like, no, it's fucking Taylor ham Mayla hammeg and
cheese tailor. But Taylor word by the way, I will
also tell you Taylor is the best brand of this port.
That's that's what you're used like heine, I love it's
the best. But anyway, yeah, there's all kinds of pork tailor,
so Jimmy's is not technically correct other than the read
(21:46):
so again. According to this article, Boston was one of
the first companies to buy the sprinkles and the ice
cream from this company up in filled down in Philadelphia.
So anyway, I gotta be honest. I didn't really give
it much thought and it really wasn't ruining my day.
But you made it because it's summertime. It's summertime. Jessey
Jeff and the Fresh Prince. Oh fuck you, well you
(22:08):
said right, yeah, you're right, you're right. Now. That leads
me to one more fight that I had now, slices,
you're going to think about a place that you grew
up with or the way you say something, and I was.
I had lunch day at my friend paper Menu, and
he had one of these in his life that he
remembered from Brooklyn. I used to go to a club
back in the day when I was younger going to
(22:30):
clubs that all of the hair bands we know today
all of the heavy metal bands all got their start
or played at this club in Brooklyn called lamore l
Apostrophe A m Oh you are. Every band thanked them,
every band performed there. Sometimes bands would go there under
different names, like huge bands like Iron Maiden. It's where
Metallic I got started, like all the all the big
(22:52):
metal legends Gary Place, Iron Maiden. I was there every weekend.
I loved it, right, But growing up in Brooklyn, Apostrophe
A m Oh you are, Lamour everybody called it Lamore's,
and they said it with a Brooklyn accent. You go
to Lamore's, right, Yeah. There There was no big sign
on the front of this place. It was on a
(23:12):
shitty street with like off lots street like junkyards, which
bordered the train which was below the train yard. Awful. Yeah,
it was just a dumpy area and in the middle
of warehouses was this amazing rock club. So it wasn't
like you go to McDonalds and it says McDonald's on
the sign. It was just like a dumpy place with
a little awning And it may have said Lamour written properly,
(23:33):
but everyone knew it was Lamour's. So I'm in a
Facebook group dedicated to this club where people reminisce and
put up pictures whatever, and again it's l apostrophe, am
oh you are. So some guy writes, what's the best
band you ever saw at Lamore's l A M O
R s Lamour's Lamors? So I say, I don't know,
(23:54):
I've never been there. There's no such club. And a
couple of people like hilarious, you know, slaughing emojis because
they know. So you're in a Facebook group that's spelled
the name is right there on the group. So this
guy says, that's where I'm from, so fuck it, and
I go, I go, I don't know what that means.
What do you mean that's where you're from. You're from
the club. I'm from Brooklyn. And we say Lamore's no,
(24:17):
And I said, okay, I said, you've had dude, you've
had a lifetime to learn the name of the place.
Right when we were kids, it's one thing, but we're
adults now. And it's the name of the Facebook group
you're in. It's Lamore and there's no ass and it's
spelled this way. I'm just I'm just making a joke. Well,
you're obviously you're ashamed of your Brooklyn roots because we
(24:37):
say Lamore's and that's the way you're going to pronounce it.
And I don't know, you're some yuppie and I'm like,
oh my god. So I said, you know, you have
thirty forty years you got to learn in life, right.
So then it reminded me of all the people that say,
like might add an antwot Sam, I'm going to the Walmarts.
It's it's not the Walmarts. It's just Walmart where people
(24:59):
are going. I'm going to Barnes and Nobles. So I'm
having lunch with paper Menu today and he's telling me
about this club in Bay Ridge. I don't know if
you remember. It's scary. It was called one oh one.
That was the name of the club. It was one
hundred first Tree. It was called one on one. By
the way, do you have way too much free time
on your hands? Can I tell that? I'm just saying
I was having lunch with paper Menu, were having a conversation. Listen,
I'm bringing content, right, I said. He says to me,
(25:22):
goes everybody called one oh one one on ones? He said, oh,
you go to one on ones? He said, in fact,
I bumped into some girl. I was wearing a Brooklyn
T shirt and she stopped me at the wherever he
was at and she goes, oh, you're from Brooklyn. Yeah?
Were you from all? From bay Ridge?
Speaker 3 (25:36):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (25:37):
My god?
Speaker 3 (25:37):
She was.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
I used to hang out in bay Ridge. Where'd you go? Oh?
I hung out at the one on ones? And he says, oh,
you mean one on one? She goes, what huh? No clue.
So I'm wondering slices. Where in your life do you
go to a place that you pronounced the name wrong
and you don't care, like you're like, fuck it, that's
how I say it. Like people will say Reese's pieces,
you don't catch Reese's right. So no, what place did
(25:59):
you grow up with where you're like, I said it
wrong as a kid. Fuck it, I'm still saying it
wrong now. The talk about drop us a talk back
on that? Okay, well you will you do that. I'm
gonna send you a link right now, Brody, And this
is gonna a sausage link is gonna piss you the
hell off. I wish you was a sausage. Actually, I
prefer the skinny spiral sausage to sausage links. I don't
like the fat stuff like any spiral. I've never seen
(26:21):
a spiral sausage. What are you talking about, like a
spiral you know? Yeah, the skinny sausage it's in a
spiral and you throw it on the barbecue. I've never
seen that. I've seen patties and links. You're talking about
a sausage that just happens to be in a in
a circle. It's like very thin and it's like a rope.
It's like a rope sausage, but it's it's it's swirled
(26:43):
like a like a snake. You've never seen us? What
hold on? What snake goes? I'm like I'm making with
my fingers and it's like a circle. It starts, you know,
it starts. You never saw this, the thin rope sausage.
We're talking about regular sausage and Tian sausage that they
(27:04):
put in a circle, in a spiral. Yes, but that's
not a spy. I'm talking about like you're talking about
like I'm talking about very different than fat, than the
fat sausage links. I'm talking about breakfast sausage, about Jimmy Dean, Yeah,
sausage link. Nobody calls Italian sausages, sausage link, sausage link,
links and patties, Links and patties links and Patty is
(27:25):
my favorite morning show, by the way, favorite morning show
they were of Tennessee. Links and Patties in the morning.
By the way, Patty's on maternity leave. I think, yeah, okay,
all right, I'm sending you this link. Send me the link, okay,
I want it's gonna make you angry, all right, Well,
I think we might do something hard. I'm gonna send
you a link now, don't know. Let's talk about something
(27:48):
else and we'll take a break, and then we're gonna
discuss this link. In fact, I'm gonna save the send
button until I want to. I want you to see
this in real time, because you're gonna fucking go off,
all right when you see this A right about something else?
Real quick? Yeah, something real quick. Then we're gonna take
a break, but go ahead. So I went for lunch
with paper menu. I went for pizza twice this week.
(28:09):
I went for pizza earlier in the week by myself
and to get you know, get a slice of pizza.
And then today he's like, oh, let's go for pizza.
I'm like, and I want to say to him, hadizza
couple of days ago, but I was like, fuck, I
we'll go for pizza. When I went for pizza myself
the other day. I'm trying. I'm trying to cut back
on the bad food again because I found leading into
the summer, I gained four pounds and I want to
lose the four pounds. Right, So I have a problem
(28:30):
and a lot of slices. You'll be able to relate.
I sometimes get two slices because I like to, like,
in my mind, I always eat two slices. But I
found if I cut the pizza in half and I
eat half and half, I feel mentally like I'm eating
two slices. That makes sense. Yes, it's it's it's a
mind fuck, but you're psyching yourself out. But yeah, no
that makes sense. And wait, hey, whatever works for you.
(28:53):
I like that. That's a great strategy. Yeah, thank you.
So I go to get the slice of pizza and
I say to the guy behind the counter, I say, hey,
can you cut that slice in half for me and
then put it in the bag. He says, uh, yeah,
which way do you want me to cut it in half? Huh?
Speaker 3 (29:11):
What?
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Hald On? Listen I know physically you can cut it
more than one way, right, but there's only one way
that makes sense, bro, where you can get a little
bit of the crust and a little bit of the tip,
and that is straight down the middle. Cut it straight
down the middle. So I go, do you think I
want you to cut it with the tip on one
half and the crust on the other? Watch on the check?
I go, Has anyone ever asked you to cut it
(29:34):
that way? No? Right? Why would I would anyone? Why
would any Look if your share, if you're sharing the
pizza with like a three year old and they don't
like the crust. Maybe, but I mean, I'm gonna I
know if you could, just if you could just turn
it perpendicular and just cut it where you could slide
the cheese and the sauce off, and I'll take that
and you can have the crust. Yeah, you can cut
(29:55):
it top and bottom, top to bottom, a bottom, Jesus,
cut it halfway like I got like a Hamburger button.
You're cutting it as like you're cutting Italian bread. But
I think that's absurd, absurd. If I if I wanted
it a stupid way, wouldn't I have said, Hey, I
know this is gonna sound weird, but could you cut it,
(30:16):
you know, with wise rather than length wise. If you
don't say which way you want to cut, it seems
obvious to me anyway. So anyway, paper Menu, So we
go for pizza today and we go to a kind
of place where you go to the counter, you pick
up your slices in the glass case. And he gets
a big chicken slice. It's it's huge because they didn't
cut the pizza right whatever. He got a nice slice.
I got to I got a slice. He got two slices,
(30:38):
and uh. The girl behind the counter says to him,
here you go. When the pizza comes up, she puts
on top of the counter and shees, do you need
a fork a knife with that? Yeah? Oh god. Now,
my friend, Paper Menu is from our neighborhood in Brooklyn.
She says, what what? Just do you need a knife
for fork? He goes, are you are you insulting me?
But where do you think I'm from? Yeah? Yeah, she goes,
(31:00):
I don't know. He goes, look, I'm from Brooklyn. But
even if I was from Jersey, a knife and fork
with my pizza, that is I had to ask. He goes, no,
you didn't have to ask you, You did not have
to ask. Yeah, who who's cutting that pizza with a
knife and fork? D That's just wrong, that's wrong. So
I'm thank you Paper Menu for being a boy from
(31:21):
the from the hood. He was like, that's just offensive.
That's It's like the episode of Seinfeld when George was
eating his Snickers with Snickers bar with a knife and fork. Yeah,
with a knife and fork. It's just wrong, just wrong.
All right, we'll be right back. Yeah, after this, I'm
gonna send Brody a link and then Brody's gonna he's
gonna be able to fry an egg on top of
(31:41):
this guy's head. You watch It's The Boys Podcast. All right,
we're back. What were you doing during the commercial break?
I just had to reach for my five gum So
you want if you were here, I'd give you a piece. Scary, yeah,
scary Hold sight, No, no, what I got? I listened?
I need I need, no, no, no, Brody, before we
(32:02):
go on, before we do, before we do the next
before getting the feeling, I'm getting the vibe setting flavor.
That's cringles. That's different. Hold on, hit that dragon, hit
that dragon. I don't know what's talk about? Okay, hit
the jingle. I haven't explained something like a cow. No,
you don't. You don't chew gum. Normally this during a podcast,
you chew gum, but not during a podcast exactly. But
(32:24):
I need it a little pick me up today, because
first of all, it's this. It's this spearmint flavor. It's
so good. My senses are finally I'm not making any
money off there. Stop it, my fet My senses are stimulated. No,
do it on the radio. It's hit the jingle, front
of a bitch. Hit this is the spearmint. I don't
give a ship. What are you talking about? Had the gum?
(32:46):
It's good gum, it's great at jingle? You like this gum?
It depends on how much this saying me. We sit
here for an hour doing this podcast. I need something
to like get me through the rest of the podcast.
So here we are my entertainment value, How about my
my personality? No, you're super entertaining, but I don't be
entertaining right now. Hit the fucking jingle. I haven't heard
(33:08):
this before. That's right, both of them, both of them.
Five goat If this is pick it up wherever you
get you stop it, pick it up it, stop it.
What do you mean stop it? Stop it?
Speaker 3 (33:28):
What?
Speaker 2 (33:29):
This is our podcast, I know, not your promotional vehicle. Okay,
I'm just letting you know five coming jump on your
own time. Don't retell near you. Thank you very much, gentlemen.
That it's all been recorded, Thank you so much. All right,
I could stop that now. Thank you? You recorded that?
Am I part of the recording? Yes, I like the
(33:54):
blue packages, the blue ones, any of those you know
what you know what's scary episodes ago. But before you
do that, let me explain. I set up a hidden
video camera. I recorded me and Brody together, the Brody
and I on his screen. Brody couldn't see me videotaping it,
(34:18):
brought in me, brought to me, and I did a
commercial for five gum into the camera and Brody's flipping out.
And that'll be on my social media a little later. Okay,
but but I cursed. That's okay, we'll figure it out.
I'm wearing glasses on my head. I don't think I
like that idea. It's all right. You know what else
(34:38):
Scary did a couple of weeks ago. We're doing the podcast.
He was, oh, there's an Norwegian cruise ship going by
my window up the harbor, down the harbor. I said, oh,
you should take a picture of it because they're a
sponsor of the morning show, not of this podcast, but
they should be because I'm still a big fan. And he goes,
oh yeah, yeah, yeah. So he films it, and he
films the screen, this computer screen that we're recording on.
(35:01):
But he must have clicked off of our podcast because
when he showed the video, there's something else on his
screen except so I'm cut out. And then he shows
his he shows his home studio, and he shows the
cruise ship. But he could have tagged me and promoted
our podcast, but he did not, because he's a selfish
son of a bitch. No, I'm not. Did you tag
(35:22):
the Brooklyn Boys? You could have said, hey, while recording
the Brooklyn Boys pop, I'll tell you what I'm gonna
I'm gonna tag him when I post for five gum
a little later on on my social you tell he
take the Brooklyn Boys, I'll tag David Brody and I'll
tag the Brooklyn Boys. All right. Now that being said, yeah,
I got this link, you said, don't click it yet,
(35:43):
all right, so names will have to be changed to
protect the innocent. I got invited, I got invited to it.
I got names when I click it is I got
invited to a baby shower. Okay, I can't go, But
are you gonna be with Ryan Seacrest that day? Yeah? First,
(36:04):
but my question for you is, first of all, if
you don't go to a baby shower or a wedding,
or a Sweet sixteen or a bar mitz or any
party a do you do you owe a gift? So
this is part one of this. Is it a debate?
I don't know if it's a debate. What's the proper etiquette?
Most people have told me that if you'd decline like
(36:24):
a wedding invitation, you should send a gift. Say, hey,
I couldn't make it, but I'm sending a gift anyway.
They say that that is the proper thing to do. Yeah,
I've done both. It depends on who the people are. Well,
I've done where I didn't send a gift and I
felt bad about it. But you can go on, like,
if you have a registry, you can pick out like
a twenty five dollars thing, a thirty dollar thing, And
(36:45):
that's what I usually Nick Knack Patty watch. This couple
decided we're gonna put a baby registry out there, and
we're gonna well, oh, let me just clarify. I'm not judging.
They're not married. They're putting out a baby registry. Well
they are not are married now they're married. Oh, so
it's not a wedding registry. No, this is a baby registry.
Because having a baby, I can't make it to the
(37:06):
baby shower. I couldn't make it too. Okay, there's a
there's a celebration of the baby. So now that when
they told you they were having a baby, did you
yell no? No, no, Because this is a hot young
couple with no children yet and they just got married.
So of course do I know them? Yes, Well you
(37:27):
know the guy. Okay, I think I think you do.
But anyway, well the guy knows you. Let me, can
I click the link? Big fan? Click the link. Now
he's a big fan of mine. Well, I don't blame him.
I'm right down baby registry. Hold on, let's here we go.
Why don't we go through the baby registry and see
some of the things. What I'm saying I could purchase
for this couple that I see it's a lovely picture
(37:48):
of them, not the baby because the baby's not born yet. Yeah.
Uh Amazon gift cards, Okay, you'll see some familiar items
like remember that, what the fuck the Tiffany plate that
I was gonna get, or I got your your baby,
one of your kids, the baby, the silver spoon. You
this a lot that that would be uh big going
(38:09):
on the cheap for this baby registry? Oh my god? Okay,
oh I know who this is? How about the Happiness
how about the Happy band on? What how you? Oh
my god? Maybe for piggy, the piggy bank, Maybe for
kater bank. Oh no, don't jump ahead, let me Oh
my god, the piggy bank is five hundred dollars for
(38:29):
a fucking ceramic pig. How about for eight hundred and
thirty dollars the Happy Bear, fork and spoon baby set?
Oh my god, there's a picture frames. It's a triple
picture frame. Yeah, it's little little frames. I three, like
three in a row connected, you know what a hinge
in the middle. Uh huh slices. How much do you
think I would get upset? About one hundred dollars one
(38:51):
hundred and fifty dollars for three little picture frames. How
much seven hundred and thirty dollars. Shit, this is the
buster and bunch of baby registries. Oh how about we
buy the Ava Regency four in one convertible crib for
one ninety nine dollars. Come on, bro, you and I
can go Handsi's on it. What do you think? Oh
(39:14):
my god? Yeah, Cashmere baby hoodies. I bought that. No
you did not, No, not that one. I bought the
sheepskin thing for the kid. What a condom? It's like
one hundred dollars anyway? No, but but how about how
about the jacket jack? Oh? Oh, you can buy a
monthly night out babysitter. I've never heard. Oh my god,
(39:38):
a tiny Tiffany baby bird cup nine hundred and twenty dollars. Yeah,
for a fucking cup for a baby? Holy shit? Hold on,
did you see the Night?
Speaker 1 (39:48):
The Night?
Speaker 2 (39:48):
Hey, a lactation consultant. You could buy a lactation consult
How about a nine hundred dollars Montclaire jacket for the
kid who's probably gonna broken spin up on it, Oh,
throw up all over it and then maybe grow out
of it in two months. Oh my god, you aren't
kidding the stroller of seventeen hundred dollars. All right, well,
it's a stroller. You want to get a good one.
(40:09):
I get it. I mean, there's so much here that
we can buy for this family. What the fuck is this?
And I don't know how this relates. How about a
Fuji film digital camera for two four hundred dollars? Is
the Oh, come on, you take picture of your phone?
A stuffed animal for three hundred dollars? Yeah, yeah this.
(40:32):
I like this guy and his business is excellent. Yes,
you know, yes, yes, like I listen. I like that.
I like that whole family very much. They're amazing people.
Oh and listen. If I had money, I listen. I
bought something for like one hundred and twenty five dollars
and I called it a day. But my god, the
registry on here is it's they must know some rich
(40:56):
people like you, bougie people. Yeah, did you? How about
you want to get the Ivory Cashmere baby set? No, yeah,
there's a lot of great stuff in here. Anyway, I
thought maybe I would pass the link. One hundred and
five dollars for gourmet baby wipes. Yeah, one hundred dollars
(41:16):
to wipe the kid's ass. With wipes. Yeah, Or how
about the Elsa Parretti open heart fork and knife spoon
set Elsa Parretti very famous. Uh, I don't know what
that means. It's jeweler. Yeah, so yeah, there's all kinds
of things, or the tiny Tiffany large Teddy Bear in
blue in Tiffany blue, so many great things. They're they're brody.
(41:38):
So anyway, five hundred dollars high chair, yeah, all right,
there's a lot lot going on. I can't. I can't.
Seven hundred and thirty dollars with picture frames. Yeah, all
make the pictures better. I don't what, all right, I know,
I knew you were going to have an I'm living
(41:58):
the wrong life. I did the best I could for
my kids, but they never had seven hundred and thirty
dollar picture frames. I don't think my mom and dad
even had a baby registry for me at the time.
They'd me just like I just show up and bring
some cash whatever, Yeah, bring some sauce. Right, But yeah,
this is a hell of a a hell of the
(42:20):
list and it's lengthy. So that means they had to
go through this site and they had to spend a
couple of hours I guess going through the things that
they wanted unless they just clicked everything, because there's some
things on here that are just this is a down
nester Monkler Montclair, Montclair Moncler. Anyone who knows knows. It's like, well,
(42:43):
I don't know, Boogie or Canada Goose. They make crazy
ski jackets for like three thousand dollars in Neiman Marcus.
So if you want a baby version of that, oh
it's cheap. It's only nine hundred and thirty dollars. Yeah,
all right, I got, okay, the Tiffany baby bird cup.
I gotta draw the line there. I mean, nine twenty
(43:04):
dollars the kids get for a cab.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
My d.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
Yeah, man, I can't, so I guess the words. I
don't have the words. A bougie baby registry. I've never
seen anything like this in my life. I mean, I've
seen a Bugi wedding, wedding, you know, shower gifts. I
feel like I'm paying too much for the product of
this person's business, because no, they're not buying this stuff.
But if this is what I mean, you didn't get
(43:33):
my kids a tiny Tiffany baby bird cup for nine
hundred and twenty dollars. No, I did not. You got
her a glass plate and a fork. I mean that
cost me some money, but it wasn't nine hundred dollars anyway. Yeah,
so you could have taken that money that you could
have given me the money, but that Tiffany plate, I
could have invested it in their college fund. I mean this, Listen,
this wife stepped in it. She good for her. Yeah,
(43:54):
now listen, they look they might know. Look, you know
what though, they know a lot of celebrities. Maybe this
is like celebrity stuff, right, Maybe they's celebrity friends, like
they're real celebrities, not us, like real celebrity friends. Maybe
like the rich people that that well to this person's business.
That's what I'm thinking. I'm thinking they're just they're aiming
for the fences because they do have people in their
(44:17):
circle that that support their business that will like Taylor
Swift would probably buy them the Tiffany cup. Yeah. And
guess what, right, Taylor Swift has definitely interacted with them before. Yes,
I know that. That's why I mentioned yeah, no, no, no,
who no, no, but no, I thought I wanted it
to be very clear to the Slices that Berne wasn't
making a joke there, he's being real. I'm well aware
(44:40):
of who our mutual friend their business brings in celebrities. Yes,
I'm aware. Yes, so there, and you and I should
go there together because I'd enjoy going back there. Oh
that that's a phone. It's only one call away, Charlie Pooth. Charlie,
you have to actually want to go. Well, do I
get a prize for this when you do two songs
(45:01):
from the same artist in one podcast episode? That's very good? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (45:05):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (45:05):
Also, you need to take me to a Mets game?
When don't we go? I don't care well when they
stop sucking because honestly, honestly, I couldn't be more disinterested
in this fucking team. And David Start needs to go,
he needs to go. Yes, he does sports. No sports,
no sports talk. You're in a no sports zone because
(45:25):
we blew out quota at the top of this podcast
by talking about soccer. Okay, but next podcast we'll talk
about the fucking Mets and how I don't maybe I'm
so disgusting them all right? Anyway, all right, so, uh,
speaking of being disgusted scary, how would you feel about
this false advertising? I went with my cousin were at
the Bridgewater Mall. Beautiful mall in north central Jersey. You've
(45:49):
been there, scary of course, Bridgewater Commons yea, Bridgewards and
Commons Mall. A lot of good restaurants. Excellent. So, uh,
by the way, I told you about Uncle who goes right,
we talk about Uncle Julio's on this podcast. If you know,
I don't think we did. I thought I did. We'll
bring it up some other time. Anyway, my cousin says
to me, hey, let's go into that jewelry store because
(46:10):
I need to get some earrings. Here's a picture. Scary.
Can you see that? You see the red sign above that,
that huge column right there. Yeah, okay, So the way
this store is set up is each wall is vertical sectionals,
So like three foot wide wall of stuff in a
little space, another three foot wall wide about six feet high.
(46:34):
Some of the stuff was higher than most women could reach.
I'm assuming from all the women in the store, there's
no way they're reaching that. Okay. On the top above
all of the jewelry, it says big huge sign red
big and huge YEP clearance and then it's small little
fighters asterisk select styles. Now, if you look at that picture.
(46:58):
It's six by three rough. There's probably one hundred face
outs all with jewelry on them, meaning there's like maybe
five hundred little cardboard tags holding jewelry on this wall
of jewelry. So my cousin's looking in all the backs
of them. They're like twelve dollars, fourteen dollars. So I
call the sales girl over and I say, excuse me,
(47:21):
which ones are on clearance? It says select styles. But
this whole section on the top of this one section
it says clearance, right because and again it's sectioned, so
the sign is part of this section of jewelry. There's
no markings on here. So are the clearance prices the
ones that are on the back or is clearance reduced
from the price on the back? Sure? So she says, oh,
(47:43):
only ones on sale are the ones with red stickers
on the front that says how much the price is.
So I look on the fronts of all of them.
I rememver at stickers. I go maybe maybe behind them,
you know, because like eight ten of them on each spindle.
I look, not one of them has a red sticker.
So I say to the girl, none of them have
(48:04):
clearance stickers. So she says, oh, so, I said, does
that mean none of them are on clearance? She says,
I guess not. Huh. I said, the whole section says clearance, right,
and it says select styles only. Are you telling me
none of the ones on the wall here? The hundreds
(48:24):
that are here are select styles? Now I go, then
why is the clearance sign over all of these? I
don't know? I go, but you work here? Yeah, I
don't know. I don't know. She does, same thing on
the other side. See that sign of it, A says clearance.
Nothing is on clearance underneath that sign? Oh what Now?
(48:45):
Remember that bullshit at Nordstrom rack where they're like, well,
maybe somebody moved the shirt to the sales section. Yes,
I said, so, are you implying it somebody moved five
hundred earrings over here? No? Then I don't understand what's
on sale. Then she goes, you bring the other side
of the store scary. There is a little area, a
little area like three by three. Do you remember the
(49:06):
movie with the jerk. Yes, so there's a Steve Martin. Yeah,
he's at a carnival and he's I think he had
to guess your weight and he goes, I have to
guess your weight. If I don't guess your weight, you
win anything on this wall, anything on this wall from
this shelf to this year, anything on this wall between
this ship this, anything on the wall between. And by
(49:26):
the time he finishes, it's like three things like little
pencil erasers, because anything in this little area, not the
whole wall. That's the way the store is. So I
want to give a special shout out to my new
favorite store, Lovisa, l ov I s A and the
Bridgewater Commons Mall for false bullshit advertising. The sign in
the window says the clearance party is going on now,
(49:49):
so like, let's go in and celebrate the party. The
party is there's no party, scary party. There's a little
fucking section of a wall where one nerd is sitting
in the party and he's hanging out with five pairs
of earrings that are on sale. Fuck you and your
false advertising. The whole wall clearance. And I'm gonna put
that up on my Instagram so you can see the picture.
None of it. What we should call them out. We
(50:10):
should call them out on it, like like call them
call the let's call the store. Do you want to
do that. I don't know. If I do, I'll text
you the phone. What do we want to know? I
don't know. It could be a little messy. We'll see. Well,
we don't need permission to put up on podcast. We
can just say, yeah, that was in your My daughter
was in your store and she went to the clearance
section and none of it's on clearance. Can you explain
that you can do that. I'll text you the phone
(50:31):
number right now. I'll do that right now. I'll do
that ship right now. But oh no, wait, we might
have that problem with the with the phone line. I
never got shit. We could do it on the next episode.
How about that you're gonna have it fixed by that
and you sure or or this is just an empty promise. Okay, okay,
great space co We'll be right back. Okay in the meantime,
(50:51):
is that okay? All right? Space? Hot time, Space Pat.
Are you following the yellow brick road?
Speaker 3 (51:08):
No?
Speaker 2 (51:08):
What's been have you been?
Speaker 4 (51:09):
Have you?
Speaker 2 (51:10):
Are you following like the latest trends in the latest
things out there in the fast food world and in
the uh you know, dessert world. You know places like
I do I try? Yeah, did you see what Coldstone
Creamery has ice cream. They have an Oreo Reese's cookies
(51:33):
and peanut butter ice cream taco that they're offering now.
And I don't know. I'm thinking if you google it, Brody,
see if you can find it online to like buy like.
I think that maybe. I don't know if they're marketing
him that as boxed individuals where you can actually order it,
or is it just in store only. I don't know.
(51:55):
I saw somebody with it and I am obsessed because
first of all, it would have to you have to
the collab involved in that is cold Stone, Oreo, which
is owned by Mando Leze, and Reese which is owned
by the Hershey's company, Right, So you got to have
three three collabs coming together at the same time. I
(52:18):
mean a lot, a lot of board meetings had to
go on, I think to get that in mind. They
have the rights to both products to put on their food,
so they can do whatever they want. I think, Yeah,
but this, this, I think tops the Choco Taco. It
says we brought it back for Sinco, but Chaco Tuesday
and Cinco to Mayo available for limited time only. Are
you sure it's still available? I don't know if I
(52:39):
don't know if Limited Time covers the summer, but I
gotta be honest if it's. If it's not, I'm kind
of fucked until next year. It's it's a beautiful work
of art. I want one of these things anyway, just
that I would do. I like to look look at
the doctor to check that out. It doesn't say if
it's still available, but it was it. You can get
(53:00):
sprinkles on those. Not Jimmy's not. Jimmy's not here. You can't. Okay,
all right, but I digress. I want to play a
piece of audio. This came up in my feed on Instagram,
but it's from uh, it's from a TikTok account. This
girl works at Pizza Hut, speaking of fast food chains,
(53:25):
and her whole account is posting videos wearing her pizza
hat uniform, Pizza Hut uniform, which I think is like
how long before you get fired? She's doing dance videos
at work in the stock room. So here's a video. Now,
I you'd have to be a nitwi not to have
an answer for this question. But she's doing her job,
(53:49):
she's working, and she had a question. She thinks it's
the greatest question, like who in the world would ever
do this? And again she's wearing the pizza Hut and
in one of videos in the in the description she says,
pizza Hut sucks, but I need the money. Oh my god?
Works there? Yeah, And she uses her real name as
her account name. Are you sure that this is she's
(54:12):
a quick question.
Speaker 4 (54:13):
Who the fuck orders five pizzas at ten in the morning?
Speaker 2 (54:19):
What? Who the fuck orders.
Speaker 5 (54:22):
Five pizzas at ten in the morning?
Speaker 2 (54:25):
Five? The fuck do you guys eat? Is a quick question? Okay, okay.
By the way, you know this girl cannot be employed
anymore by them. There's no way. There's no way. She
was probably fired a long time ago or quit. And
she puts on the p it's a new video, new video.
I don't get it. And she's in there. You can
(54:47):
see she's at work. Unless what if she stockpiled these
videos over time and didn't release them and then waited
to quit and now and now she's putting them out
there as if she still works there. There's no way
in hell that a corporation is going to allow her
to first of all, talk like that while representing the brand. Secondly,
(55:12):
the mean customers in salt customers, there's all kinds of
wrong with that. Something's not right there. Don't you agree me? Yes?
But the comments section one goes like, girl, just put
the pizza in the box and shut up. People are like, wow,
how long have you been fired yet? Weal Pizza Hunt
(55:33):
sees this. People are tagging Pizza Hut like all of
her videos. He's at work doing dances And what does
Pizza Hut pay you to do at ten am? You're
at work make the pizza. Here's a thought. Someone wanted
five pizzas for lunch, so they ordered pizza to be
considerate for you, and they audered it early before the
lunchtime rush. Maybe they worked the third shift. Ten am
(55:55):
is the middle of the day when you and I
work together in the morning show. We had fucking pizza
eight am. Yeah, we got a Chinese food from China,
even barbecue at seven fifteen in the morning, right, Yeah,
it's it's a little out of control. I think that's
a rage bait video. No, no, and if that Ai,
(56:17):
because I've been tricked by AI more than times than
I can scary. It's it's a young girl who works
at Pizza Hut. Her whole accounting. I can't believe it.
I can't. There's no way, there's no way. This woman
is employed currently by Pizza Hut, No way. But how
many how many views are on these on these videos
that you're seeing this girl, This girl is doing it.
(56:39):
She's doing a dance video and it says Pizza Hut
not even good for real. Wow, she's shitting all over
the product. Yes, she works there and she works stick
on it, and she thinks her big her big get
is who orders pizza at five am? Because she can't
wrap her head around her world is that she and
her friends wouldn't do it, so she can't comprehend it.
(57:03):
I can't comprehend it. Who whatever order five pizza at
ten am? It's outrageous. So yeah, wearing her Pizza Art
uniform while she's in the kitchen at Pizza Art, she's like,
you know what I'm gonna do before I make those pizzas,
I'm gonna run and film a TikTok video. Yeah that's
from my eight thousand followers. Yeah, so yeah, I'm like,
I'm not promoting her, but that's it, okay. And then
(57:24):
I wanted to play well, since I have the audio
cable plugged in, I want to play a clip for
you of a guy running for office. This is real.
You know how a lot of politicians get involved in
sex scandals. They're always like always just one's banging his
secretary or harassment. Right, this guy wants you to know,
(57:45):
and I'll tell you who he is in a minute.
On pause the video, Hold on, hold on, Yep, he's
running in California. He's running for some kind of political
office in California, and he wants you to know why
you should vote for him. Okay, yeah, here we go.
Speaker 1 (58:04):
I don't experience sexual attraction. I'm one hundred percent non sexual.
I'm one hundred percent a sexual. My name is Mark Hardy.
I'm a candidate for California Secretary of State in the
twenty thirty election. Vote for Mark Hardy for California Secretary
(58:27):
of State in twenty thirty. I don't experience sexual attraction.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
Okay, I will be the first.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
But as sexual person.
Speaker 2 (58:36):
Okay, that's crazy. Now, why United State? Why would you
vote for someone based on just that? Because he's not
gonna get into any scandals. Yeah, I know, but that's
his sticking point. I like that as a stick, but
that's gonna wear it out. It's welcome really quickly. Don't
you think I would think, I mean, okay, so what
(58:56):
do you stand for? We know what you don't say for.
But right, that's part of the problem, you know, he's
playing off of trying to win because he's gonna be
better than the other candidate behaviorally. Yes, which so that's
his that's his sales pitch. All right. This is a girl.
(59:18):
I want to play a clip from her, hold On,
hold On. Her name is Skyler. I on a press Okay,
Skyler s c h u y l e r I
O n A p r e s S. Skyler is
maybe eighteen years old. She's I found her on Instagram.
She's on TikTok. She's a brilliant theater kid. She writes
(59:43):
unbelievable clever songs that she sits and she films herself
playing a keyboard and they rhyme beautifully. They're clever. She
does a one woman show in Manhattan. I think we
should ever on the show have to do a jingle
about our show. But some of them are political. Well,
some of them are just funny about the world and
current events. She's absolutely brilliant, and a lot of celebrities
(01:00:05):
follow her, but she posted a video this week that
I want to play a decent part of because you
and I talk about this all the time. Okay, yeah,
here we go.
Speaker 6 (01:00:14):
I go into a coffee shop to buy a bottled
water because it's a million degrees outside and I forgot
to bring a water. So now I'm at the coffee
shop paying for my water, when suddenly a screen pops
up asking for a tip. Excuse me, but I only
bought a plastic bottled water. I got it from the
fridge myself, the one right by the door. Then I
brought it to the counter, this plastic bottled.
Speaker 4 (01:00:34):
Water, which is already five dollars, and you want me
to pay you more ten twenty twenty five percent. And
I look at the barista and I think about my rent.
But I know how it feels to be standing all.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
Day making food, and I don't want them to think
I'm rude. I go into the market for ingredients for
dinner because I saved her brand new rest to be
a summer soup for dinner. So now I'm at the
market buying ingredients for dinner.
Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
But suddenly a.
Speaker 6 (01:01:04):
Screen pops up.
Speaker 4 (01:01:05):
Would you like to round up to cure cancer.
Speaker 5 (01:01:08):
Excuse me, but I've bought one potato and a leak
and this is self checkout? Is there a button for
an apology the potatoes in my pocket to avoid buying
a bag? See my budget for soup didn't include on cology?
Speaker 6 (01:01:21):
My little button to round up the change.
Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
It should be so simple, So why does it feel strange?
There's a picture of a child smiling in a hospital bed.
Speaker 6 (01:01:35):
And I don't want him to be dead. Maybe instead.
Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
Of asking the broke girl buying water on a whim,
try the billionaire holds the brand.
Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
Try asking it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
What a voice? Ten suggest that she every topic. She's great.
Here's a picture, and I like the format which she
writes in. You know, it's almost like she's like writing
a like for a musical or something. Or she writes
she writes musical theater stuff. And I'm telling you she
writes about current events. She can get a song about
(01:02:15):
the reflecting pool, whatever's going on. She's fucking brilliant. She's
following her what's her name? I told you, Skylar Skylar
ion a press. I say, yeah, s C h U
y L E R. I follow her. I don't know.
I'm going to repost it. On my at David Rody
account on Instagram, posted it, I love brilliant, standing up standing.
(01:02:37):
She has a one woman show coming up in Manhattan,
and I thought maybe I'll try to get her on
to do a little jingle for us. I'll tell her
about the show and we are and will promote her show.
If she does a jingle me.
Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Like boys podcast, we will be right back.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
So here we are in the middle of summer, and
I don't know, Brody, I I worry about you sometimes
worry about me. What I do with this? What you
don't do? You don't give yourself a break, you don't
I just got back from Anguila. I'm well, relaxed, I'm tanned.
(01:03:18):
I had a great time in my family. I did
I ate some insane seafood. I got like a lot
of a lot of relaxation and beautiful you know, beaches
and pools and and and I think that you need
to do something for yourself this summer other than go
(01:03:40):
into a Facebook group and argue about Lamour's versus Lamore.
You know, like, you need some joy. You need you
need a happy little joy. Joy you need, you need
a little little joy. You need something to do. I
have I know you got Joey. I know you have
a lot of joy in your life, but you need
and that this doesn't go for just for you this
(01:04:01):
and it doesn't have to have You don't have to
have a crazy budget to do it. But everyone listening
should be able to do something. And again, forget about
the financial part of it. Do something for yourself that
will bring you happiness. There's got to be things that
you can do for free or for a little amount
of money. I always sky SKay weekend trips, work here
weekend with trips, count stay getaways. I know, but I
(01:04:25):
don't announce everything I do during the week. I don't
do much, but you know I need an action. No,
but I want you to like thrive Nothing, you're not thriving.
But I do all good scary scary We don't. Not
everybody lives the life you live. It's not about It's
not about that. Oh it's okay, I mean, I know,
like going swimming right now, playing pickleball. These are like
(01:04:47):
these activities that you love. There will be vacations and
cruises when there are time for vacation and cruises. Okay,
everything's got to line up. It's got to you know
I got again. Uh. I've mentioned on the podcast one
of my dogs is not well. So that's keep yes,
uh keeps the family grounded, you know. So I get it.
I get it. So we'll ever No, no one's complaining.
(01:05:09):
All good here, Okay, I just don't want to wellness check.
Just checking in on you because I just car trips
count We'll get aways weekend little things. Okay, all right,
all right, okay, all right, you know I just yeah,
I say that. I say that with the best of
intention because you're my brother, you know, and and I
just want yeah, even though you don't to invite me
(01:05:31):
to your your your big events that uh well you
boys go out, well you don't. We we had this conversation.
You don't. You don't mess with those people. You know what.
Here's what I'd like you to do. Slices back me
up here, hey, uh take you off? Yeah exactly, No, no, hey,
bicycle Matt and uh an Indian Pete and all this
produce pe, produce Pete. I can't hang out with you
(01:05:55):
guys because I'm going out with Brody and you don't
mess with him. How about that? That would work? All right,
Let's have a day. What do you want to do
Let's go to Michael's in Brooklyn. How about that? You
want to go to Let's go to a Mets game
that the Mets, the Mets thing. We gotta we gotta
table that one till next year. Well, let's let's let's
call the owner and then go to the suite again.
(01:06:15):
We haven't been to the suite while? Is that what
would be sweet in a few years? Yeah? Who, no
one else is going to the game. Let's go to
the sweet Yeah, big. I want you to think large. I
want you like go to the Hamptons. I want you
to go to the Jersey Shore. I want you to
I want you to go to like experience, like even
if it's like DJ's happy Hour, you know, or something
(01:06:36):
something beachy outside. I'm not going to don't line on
the Jersey Shore. I gotta touch grass man, you gotta okay,
I used touch grass I don't. I don't do drugs, no,
but you know what I mean. You let your feet
hit the earth, walk through the sand. I don't know
experience walk through the sand, but jump jump in the water.
(01:06:56):
I got my ass ass in the water, feet toes
in the water, asking the sand. We just want Yeah,
I want you to do something like that's out of
your current zone, out of your Oh my god. As
I was talking about DJs, a text comes in DJs,
this is I'm on their mailing list. I guess their notifications.
Tonight we count down to twenty twenty six all over again. Hats,
(01:07:19):
noisemakers and confetti. It's our famous New Year's Eve celebration.
Dress up and win cash prizes. Yeah. Every Thursday night
at DJ's they do theme nights. Oh, next week, next
week's Italian Night. Next Thursday night at DJs. Oh, I
don't have any they do with all things Italian in there.
It's insane. The flags, the theme, the let's go to DJs,
(01:07:42):
let's fucking tie one on, let's have ourselves a night.
What do you think? How we getting now? The Sea
Streak Ferry Italian Night? Well, no, we're not going to
take the ferry. They were supposed to go to Point Pleasant,
but they haven't figured that out. Uh but they no,
I don't know. I do you want me to drive?
(01:08:04):
If I'm off on Friday, we should go. I may
be off next Friday. We're gonna figure this out. To
check out to check the availability here. Yeah, because yeah Friday, Yeah,
because honestly, Brodie, we need to we need to mix
up your summer. We need to shake it up. I
want you to. I want to put you in an
uncomfortable situation. I want to take you out of your
pick a ball court and out of your swimming pool.
(01:08:25):
What do you think maybe? Okay, all right, I'm just saying,
all right, by the way, shake it up by Selena Gomez.
Oh you're trying to know the cars. Oh yeah, shake
you up. I don't know if you were doing the
classic reference of the new reference. Yeah. And by the way,
we all know as in the water. I have one
(01:08:46):
other big thing, but I don't know if it's if
it's gonna it's not your dick, everybody, unless you have
something else, something small, like you're a dick, a douche bag.
Let me see what I have that because well, we can
get into this one other thing that may cause a
little bit of a controversy. I don't know, maybe not.
I said something on the Big Show and I was quickly, uh,
(01:09:10):
how to put my foot in my mouth and try
and backpedal. I might as well just go for it
right here, because you're searching through your phone. So I
got something remind me of add on friends and coming
to dinner. Just well, I guess who's coming to dinner
you go to. You think that people are stupid judged
for for their their work, their jobs. No, well bye,
(01:09:36):
by the way they dressed, by by maybe the fact
that they may have tattoos or piercings and stuff. Or
you think that prevents people from getting jobs. Yes, okay, good.
I wish I needed you in there as my lawyer
when the whole morning show came down on me. You know,
there's a whole thing. Don't judge a book by its cover,
because you never know, you know who you're meeting. But
(01:09:57):
I came out and I said that I'm sometimes me
personally when I see someone covered in like let's say
they have like neck tattoos, or or they have piercings
in weird places and maybe they you know, they carry
a vape pen or something. I judge them, and I'm like,
(01:10:18):
this person made poor decisions somewhere in their life because
they may not be able to get They didn't think
it through that eventually they may be up for a job,
and that they be judged. Well, the ship storm started
and people came out all over the came out from
all over the place screaming at me, saying that, oh scary,
(01:10:39):
you know, here he goes again, insert foot in mouth.
But I really feel that there's some truth to it. Now.
The conversation was do you get judged? And I said, yeah,
I do believe you're being judged. I believe if you
walk into a job and you walk into I'm not
saying it's right or wrong. That's the difference. It's to
(01:11:00):
write a wrong thing. I'm not trying to say, oh,
how dare you have tattoos? How dare you you know?
How dare you fucking have you know, a piercings and shit?
I'm saying the fact remains that you are being judged. Forget,
don't shoot the messenger. So if you show for a
job interview with a face tattoo, trying like post malone style,
(01:11:25):
like a white collar job, there's a very good chance
you're not getting that fucking job. I don't care what
anybody says. Okay, So so to respond to that, first
of all, I agree with you that there are people
who judge you on your appearance. Now, as someone who
used to do the internship program and has been in
charge of hiring in most of the jobs I've had.
I've had conversations with people who have a lot of tattoos, right,
(01:11:49):
and I'll ask them, I go, oh, you have a tattoo.
They go, yeah, I've got forty. I go forty. Like
where do you think? Goes oh, yeah, my back all that,
and I said, do you have I've asked them, I go,
do you have a worry that Sometimes on job interviews
or in certain professions, you go, you know what, you
know what they say, I don't want to work in
a place that judges me for my tattoos. Okay, now
you've literally the jobs that you can have. Okay. But
(01:12:10):
here's the thing. Most people who get tattoos, and I
can't speak for them personally, I don't have any, but
most people who get tattoos don't give a fuck what
anyone thinks. They get them because they want them, They
get them because they mean something to them, and their
first instinct is listen. I've always said to my kids,
to people anyone who listen, Like when we had interns
right at the internship program. I find it unusual to
(01:12:33):
make permanent decisions for the rest of your life at seventeen, eighteen,
nineteen years old, right, because thirty years later you may
regret that. But eighteen year olds aren't thinking about their
life at forty eight. They're thinking about today, I want
that tattoo. I don't care. Yeah, right, and you have
to live with that when you're for the rest of
(01:12:53):
your life. You everything else in life. You buy a car,
you sell the car. Now, yeah, you can get them removed,
but for the most part, they're permanent. Right. Most people
don't give a shit. They don't think if I get
this tattoo, what if I can't be a doctor, right,
or whatever, I can't get a job. I'll give you
an example that I don't understand in terms of tattoos.
If you're an actor or an actress and your job
(01:13:16):
is to blend into the character, okay, I feel If
you're a model, you're a supermodel, right, you're in bikinis
all the time. You should not have permanent things that
take away from the bathing suit you're wearing or the
role you're playing. I'll give you an example. Alan Richson
is one of my favorite new actors. He plays Reacher.
(01:13:37):
He's a giant, muscular unbelievably good looking guy, unbelievable and
as he's ripped, he shredded like he's a statue. I
wish I looked like him. If I look like him,
the last thing I would do is put a tattoo
on that body, because it's fucking perfect. I wouldn't do
(01:14:00):
anything to distract from the look he has worked hard
to get David Birdie with the moment. Nah, enough camp kidding.
And as an actor, a lot of actors will talk
about how, yeah, I spent an hour in the chair.
They have to cover up my tattoos, or they have
to digitally take up my tattoos. Look, if you're a
Scarlet Johansson, you're a big enough actress that if Marvel
(01:14:24):
wants to put you in his Black Widow, they will
digitally remove your tattoos. Yes, But if you're Mary Smith
and you walk in for a role, they don't want
a scorpion tattoo on your neck. So now that's industries,
by the way, like the industry where and you know,
the recording industry on air, like doing radio. TV broke
(01:14:45):
a lot of that. Yeah, the more tattoos and piercing
is the cooler you are. But I'm just letting you
know that you're limb. You're probably limited in your job,
in what you what you can do, and you're definitely
being judged. Whether that's right or wrong, You're being being judged.
And that's all I was saying. But people missing strew
what I said and a douche. Do you remember Machine
(01:15:07):
Gun Kelly? Right? Of course? MGK. So machine Gun Kelly,
he's a rock big fan of the Morning Show is yeah.
He his body is covered in tattoos. He had to
play Tommy Lee in the Motley Crue movie. In order
to do that, they spent hours covering all of his
body tattoos and then putting on all of Tommy Lee's
(01:15:30):
tattoos on top of the makeup to cover up his
existing tattoos. Now, Machine Gun Kelly's a rock star, he's
a rap star. He's he doesn't have to normally. Who
would have thought he would have done movies, but Alan
Richson every time he wants to be in a movie.
Now he was on seth Myers this week. He's got
a neck tattoo. Now yeah, like, maybe now you do it.
(01:15:51):
You're an actor, dude, Maybe not put a tattoo in
a place where you could it re read it in
the future. That's all, you know, whatever you know. I
think tattoos are hot. I love piercings, tattoos. Yeah, I
know my brother. My brother's got a sleeve and he's
got all. You know. But again, you don't judge. I
don't know, no judgments none. Look, I would I would
say to you, scary. You and I are from an
(01:16:13):
era where there was more judging, and I think there's
less judging now now. Well, that's what people were saying
on Tech Day with they were saying, Okay, Boomer, scary
showing his age. He's act like an old old example.
There are numerous commercials that are on usually the news channels,
women's deorderant commercials, women's braw commercials, and a lot of
the women in those commercials have tattoos. That is, that
(01:16:35):
is a thing that never would have happened twenty years ago. Well,
they're allowing it to pass, They're letting it go. They're
letting which is fine except for me because of where
what when when we're from I focus on the tattoo
on her arm, not the product, because I'm like it
draws my attention away, which is the whole point of
like you're selling the bikini bra or whatever, the deorderant whatever,
(01:16:57):
I shouldn't be drawn to the tattoo. Now, the women
who watch this commercial may not even notice the tattoo
because they're looking at the bra going oh, how does
it fit? Yeah, oh that de ordor it looks like
it goes unclear. They may not even know, or they
might go, oh, look at the cold chick with the tattoo,
Like I have a tattoo. So I don't think you
and I are a good judge. But I understand this
still because there are people our age who do higher.
(01:17:20):
But I would imagine the tattooed people and slices. You
can you can respond and leave us some message if
you have tattoos, are you concerned you wear long sleeve
shirts to interviews or you don't give a fuck?
Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
Let us know? And do you think that you've been
discriminated against because you've had a tattoo or a piercing
in a place. Now, we want to work in a
place that might discriminate against you. You know, some people
say fuck it right, they don't want me. I don't
want to be there. Yeah, I mean, brody, would you
feel comfortable with a surgeon that needed to do a
necessary operation on you with a septum piercing Yes. Yes,
(01:17:58):
But I made this comment on the Morning show like
ten years ago, and I said, if my doctor came
out of the like into the like I walked in
the office and the doctor had crazy face tattoos, it
might throw me. But he did go to medical school,
so it all it All this does is support my
(01:18:18):
argument that you're being judged. Whether you like it or not,
I mean, you don't like it, depends on the audience.
I might judge for a second or might throw me again.
Throwing me doesn't mean I wouldn't go to him as
a doctor for well reviewed. But there are people who
would go to that doctor who have tattoos. I'm like, dude,
this guy's awesome. Now. This was said in the context
of getting a job, getting getting to work on Wall Street,
(01:18:40):
a white collar job. It depends on who the boss is.
If the boss has tattoos, you know, if if the
boss is part of the culture of not giving a shit.
I think it's I think if you have tattoos, you
probably don't care what people think. Will you make Will
you make it? Will you make it to ceo with
tattoos and piercings. Today you would, Yeah, I would think
(01:19:01):
half of the fortune five hundred companies have CEOs that
have tattoos, these visible ones. Yes, because it's a different,
different world. All the startups, the guys who created chet,
GPT and all those guys, they probably all have you
know whatever. It's not saying, dude, it's not like Steve
Jobs from Apple. You're like, oh, Steve Jobs. Never. I
don't think these speaking of Apple do have time for
(01:19:22):
one last thing much time one last thing. There was
a sign that my friend Scott Scott loves this podcast
by the way, what's up, Scott? Uh? He posted a
picture and I looked it up to make sure it
was legitimate because I didn't know this story. It was
a sign from the London underground. It said quote of
the day. Now I'm gonna tell you this. Your mine's
gonna be blown because you probably didn't even know the story.
(01:19:43):
But it's true. I looked it up. You know, the
two guys that started Apple that were rich, Steve Jobs
and Steve Walls. In the act he owned he owned
the Blazers and football teams. Whatever it says. If anyone
is having a bad day. Remember that in nineteen seventy six,
(01:20:03):
Ronald Wayne sold his ten percent steak in Apple eight
hundred dollars. Now, Ronald Wayne worked at Atari with the
two Steves. They started the company, but they didn't make
it an LLC. And if you start a company and
it's not incorporated, if you go into debt or your
company loses money, you could lose your house and your car,
(01:20:25):
like whatever own you own, the bank takes. That's why
you need an LLC. Yes, And of the three of them,
he was the only one that had a house and
a car and property. Like He's like, I can't risk
this and if this company goes under, we could be fucked.
So I'm out. So he said, he give me eight
hundred dollars because that's what we all put in money. Scary.
(01:20:45):
Do you know what his share in Apple would be
worth today if he hadn't sold his ten percent? How
much fifty eight billion dollars? Okay, And that's time you
make a bad decision. Yeah, remember good old Ronald Wayne.
Ronald Wayne who sold his ten percent share in Apple.
And again, I don't know how old this sign is.
(01:21:05):
He can be worth it could have been worth a
hundred million now, but at one point when this sign
was put up, his eight hundred dollars would now be
worth And again, you don't know if the company would
have gone the exact same route whatever. Uh ten, But yeah,
fight sold ten percent of Apple for eight hundred dollars
and he has no regrets. I would have regrets. Yeah, same, Wow,
(01:21:26):
all right, we'll see you next week, folks. Boys, boys,
