Speaker 1 (00:00):
Start up, dot Up, Start Up, Brooklyn Boys, start up,
Brooklyn Boys, start up Up. They making noise up, start Up, dot.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Up, Episode three eighty six, The Broken Boys Podcast. I
say that because I could have sworn it was episode
three eighty six. David Brody. Yeah, I'm scary of Jones.
I don't know, Yeah, I know. Is it three eighty six?
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Okay, good, yeah, all right. Just sometimes you lose track
of things. You know, Life moves quickly, very quickly. You
sound like a medication commercial. Life moves. Life moves quickly.
You need scar OFVID. Life moves fast for your if
you're on the go. Side effects of scary Vid may
(00:54):
include bougionists, overspending, and broken windows. Don't let anal awards
get in your in the way of your day. Speaking
of windows, how's your five thousand dollar window coming along?
My god, my god, I'll tell you, I'm like not
happy I am this is you know. Did you get
(01:18):
the stained glass? Did Lorna get you a stained glass? Insurgent?
I tried to go with the most basic but effective
method and glass to to put this thing to bed.
And did you get your glass from like butt and stank?
(01:38):
Where'd you get it from you could make all the
fun you want, David Brody, Well that's my role. Yeah,
you're not making me feel good. You're rubbing my nose
in it. Yes, I am. So what happened with it?
You got a window or not not yet? Oh no,
not got a garbage bag over it? Not yet? Still there?
You know. My father saw it and he goes, you
(01:58):
know what that's character to your place? Well, you just
leave it. My father pulls shades down exactly. Well, the
shade is down most of the time anyway. So that's
that's another pain point of this whole thing. It's like
I don't even get to enjoy the window, or lack thereof.
You know. You know what you do, You put down
(02:20):
the shade, and then when the straight of home moves
is opened up again, the price of glass will go
down and then you'll get it for three thousand dollars.
There's no correlation. So I'm just I don't know. I'm
bent because you could just okay, match Box twenty kick
a man when he's down, why don't you? I just
(02:41):
I don't know. It's got to be a country song.
I just don't. I cannot believe because it's it's it's
just a lot of money to pay. And yeah, if
you just wonder what's going on. My window broke somehow,
and it was we don't know if it was stress
factor on the glass or manufacturer's problem, if the building
shift didn't you know, drawn strike, buildings do that strike,
(03:03):
but it was it was the inner glass, not the
outer glass. Was the Hoothi's and they have to coming
after scary. You gotta repair it for from the outside,
they gotta Gebecafi was a cat burglar trying to break
in and steal your light switches. Yeah, and then from
Buster and Douglas. And if you if you're wondering, well,
don't drive insurance, Well I do. But I got the
(03:26):
cheapest insurance possible. So my deductible is, you know, twenty
five hundred dollars out of pocket. That is a lot
of money. So anyway, Brody, let's just not even thank
you for fucking asking. Okay, I really wanted to start
the podcast on a different note and go somewhere else.
And now you're you know what, if make you feel
any better, I have some some negative news as well
(03:47):
that maybe will make you feel better about yours. Okay,
Before my car is well my car. True story. Yeah,
I've been driving my car a lot lately. It's low
on gas. I need to fill up, okay, shut up,
all right. Yeah. You know, by the way, when I
went to get gas, there's a Costco gas station ten
ten miles from my house. So whenever I'm in the area,
(04:10):
I get Costco gas because it's cheaper. So Costco Gas
has like twenty pumps at least like three six nights,
like fifteen whatever. It is a lot of them. It
looks like like a gas mart. It's huge. And I
pull in and I pull in, and then the car
next to me, you know, across the aisle, he rolls
down the window and goes, hey, man, right, can you
(04:32):
rev the engine? I said, sure, I over yes, Oh
that's awesome. I mean, it probably costs me a dollar
fifty to do that to rev my engine. Right. But
I like when people recognize the Dodge charger, give it respect,
full of respect on it, full spec on it. So
respect on it. You know. I will say though, that
(04:55):
our minds tend to block out thing when that are
that are problematic. I don't know, like years and years ago,
you've been able to forget about the broken window. That's
going to cost you twenty four. See this is what
I was doing so well, Oh are you mill blocking
out again? No way back in the day. I mean,
(05:18):
I was foolish with a little bit of money and
I and I made an investment which hurt me. I
lost the money. Restaurant, Yeah, it was the kosher. I
invested in a kosher restaurant, right, which I said, what
do you Anthony Scary Jones investing in a kosher restaurant?
This was years ago, I remember, and and I lost
(05:39):
some money on that, and I was and it killed
me for so long because when you think about it,
and I'm not going to go into numbers, but I'll
say this, I was able to I was able to
stop thinking about it and move on with my life,
and then things were good again. If you could ignore
things that are problematic in your life, it may not
(06:00):
be about a bad investment or losing money. Maybe it's
it could be the loss of a loved one. It
could be it could be whatever it is, what it
could be. You've been able to put it out of
your mind that you lost sixty It was not that much,
but no, it was no was it was less but
my Brody, the point is forty three you got You
are a scumbag, and let me tell you got nothing
(06:21):
you're bringing in the ground, and I'll make you feel
about a scared of god. Forty thousand is a lot
of money in retrospect. The twenty five hundred you have
to pay for the window is nothing. Now, don't you
feel better? Fuck you, David Brody? All right, thank you,
But this is so my My larger point here was
that sometimes your mind, you're able to move away from
(06:44):
things by not thinking about them and just blocking it out.
So I blocked that thing out years ago. Now I tried.
I was trying. I was starting to block out this
fucking window thing, and then you brought it up. So really,
my what I'm getting at here is, yeah, let's not
d well on the don't ask me questions about these.
I will bring up the broken window these it's twenty
(07:05):
five hundred dollars. I won't bring it up. But here's
what I'll say. The next time you think about how
much this window's costing you, but that no fault of
yours in the buildings you'd be paying for, think about
the forty five thousand you lost in the kosher rest.
I'm enough about that. Okay, Sorry, you really you're not
helping the situation. Listen, I didn't mention how much you overpaid.
Was your car fifteen? They can tell me. You know,
(07:28):
you're going back to like fifteen years ago, you know,
but we all have those things in life that we're
trying to invested. If you had put that forty five
thousand dollars in that bit, it'd be worth like sixty
Now you are a real piece of shit. I am not.
I'm just telling you should have invested the money in
the stock market, do you know? You want to know
what you know? You want to know what's kind of
funny is around that time that was around the same
(07:49):
time my buddy Will invested in bitcoin, so I was
aware of its existence, and I'm like, I could put
this money into this this imaginey coast arrest. Yeah, well,
if it's imaginary currency, instead you put in a coast
a restaurant. You know you did? You invested in bit, Cohen,
(08:09):
that's what you did. Keep hitting me, go ahead. I
haven't had a chance to get it from the fucking
floor yet, and you just keep going been Cohen, let
me tell you you. You you bought Gypto currency. It's
(08:29):
all fun and games when it's not your money. You
damn right, you know what that money to lose. Listen,
I got ripped off by a contractor sixty five thousand dollars.
I remember this, I remember this, but I put them
out of my head. I don't think about it anymore.
Oh until right now, and you're laughing about it. No,
I'm fucking miserable. It ruined everything. How does that make
(08:51):
you fucking feel? Now that you thought about it? You
brought it up. You just brought that upon yourself. You
got you got shafted. I remember you were so fucking angry.
You were a miserable mother fucker for what we recovered
from it in my whole life, sixteen or five bucks,
you were at afleet. But look at it this way.
It's more than me. It was more than what I'm out.
So there. But here's the thing. I at least got
(09:11):
my house done. You put money into a restaurant, you
got nothing. How did you get shafted like that? David Brody,
of all people, the king of free dessert, How did
that happen? This happened. We hired a contractor that I
checked all his references. He had good references, just several
years ago, A long time ago. I remember, a long
time ago, we were putting an addition on the house.
(09:35):
And what I later found out was he was taking
our money. And by the way, we were in the
process of having a second child, so we were any
day now going to the hospital. So it was a
little stressful, right, And he was taking the money, the
down payments we were making and putting them towards his
(09:56):
previous job, where he didn't have enough money to do
his last job. A lot of contractors do that. That's
like a Ponzi scheme, right, It's a pyramid scheme, a
pyramid scheme. So he was doing some of the work
for us, but at some point he was running out
of money to buy supplies. Anyway, we ended up having
to hire another contractor. It costs a lot of money.
We sued him. We won triple damages. It's called treble damages, yep,
(10:20):
so we won three times what he owed us. The
state of New Jersey's a beautiful place, isn't it. Yeah,
well so, I think I think truth Fleet's scary. I
think we're out like forty grand if I have to right.
But even it's like one hundred and twenty thousand dollars
roughly because he didn't show up for court. Now you
know me, I'm a lawyer. I'm I'm you know, I'm
a lawyer. I had a great we hired a great lawyer,
and we won the case. Now he didn't show up,
(10:44):
his lawyer tells me privately, Hey, listen, my client went
out and got drunk last night. He's hungover. He's so
because he didn't show up. I presented my case, I
had an architect, I had all you know. I was
ready to go right, and we proved our We won
triple damages. A week later, he claims, oh, I was
(11:06):
in a doctor's appointment. I hurt my back on the
job and that's why I couldn't come. So the judge,
believing him, puts aside the judgment that we won and says,
you have another day in court. We'll have to redo
the case. Every man is entitled to a dang court.
He had a medical excuse, even though his lawyer told
(11:26):
me he was drunk and that's why he wasn't there.
Did you tell the judge that I did? But I
can't prove that so by the time the second court
date came around, he had divorced his wife, put everything
in her name, divorced her after that, so he didn't
have a penny to his name. And so although I won,
(11:48):
I won the case again, he had no money. He
had no money and therefore I didn't have to pay
me now, no but to judge, follow that whole follow
the money, and follow the order in the chronologically what happened.
You know what the judge said to me, what legally
he could do that. I'm sorry, I screwed you, My
bad basically, wow, my doll. So it was a scamboni. Yeah.
(12:16):
From the beginning, the judge is like, his lawyer is
probably like, let's just buy some more time. You'll you'll
unload the money, put it in your wife's account, everything
in his wife's name, the trucks, the company, the whole thing,
everything in his wife's name, and then divorced her. She
then owned everything, and I wasn't legally allowed to. Oh
my god, holy fucking but that's like a legal loophole.
(12:42):
This guy got away with murder. Yeah, and the judge.
All I got was an apology from the judge and
this lousy t shirt. Yep, No, I didn't get the
T shirt. And no the one that you're wearing right now,
it's a lousy T shirt, this one. Yeah, he's not
as old as this court, this piece of shit anyway.
So now, all these years later, is he still divorced
from his wife? I have no idea. Well can't you
(13:05):
now go back and have it aha moment and say
look at this. He was lying the whole time just
to get out of this. The limitations is over. I can't.
I was even gonna go to j G Wentworth. You
have a structure. Oh then the jingle call j G
went Worth Yeah, eight seven seven cash now Yeah. I
(13:26):
asked them if they wanted to buy my settlement, because
technically it's worth one hundred and twenty thousand. If I
sell it to them for thirty then it's up to
them to go get the money. Then they might get
a profit if they want. But they didn't want it.
They're like, now what I'm meant? Wow? I went to
a few different firms that do that. They buy, they
buy your lawsuit if you need the money, and then
(13:46):
they'll they'll take it if they get the payout, they'll
take the risk. But I couldn't. I couldn't sell it.
I tried. Wow anyway, okay, but anyway, you you you
invested in a kosher restaurant, took a beating. So we
all have about things. But how about that window? How
about that window podcast? Can we bring the Yeah, yeah,
(14:08):
I'm moving on. We got to bring this up because
this is just two miserable bastards to start the podcast.
I'm not miserable. I'm happy, go lucky. Time ago I
got screwed. I think the moral of the last story
was if something bad is going on in your life,
and yeah, try and just think about other things and
move on and don't rehash them. Whatever you do, well,
(14:31):
let's do a podcast. What other people rehash their sh
it put you in a lousy mood. You're here to
make you feel better about your lives slices. Yes this
is true. Well, listen to these fucking idiots. They lost
a ship a load of money. My life ain't so bad.
Yeah right, I said they lost money today? There thinking
I lost money tonight. Well, so my friend who is
(14:51):
in paper menu, I gotta give him a name. I'm
gonna call him Jeep, has a bunch of jeeps. Here's
a bunch of jeeps. He's the guy that didn't give
me the money for the water bottle. Anyway, He's the
guy that divided the friend along. He's the guy that
went to the Barn Manelot concert with his friend's mother
in law. So I'm gonna call him jee from now on. Okay,
all right, gee? So Jeep Jeep says to me, Hey,
let's go for pizza tomorrow for lunch, meaning today. I said, well,
(15:13):
where do you want to go? He goes, there's a
new pizza place, just real, just opened in uh, we'll
call it town X. And I said, oh, if we're
going to town X, let's go to the good place,
the place that has fantastic pizza that I go to
all the time. Everyone knows it's the best pizza in
that town. He iss, no, let's go to the new place.
Give him a shot. So I said, well, I just
(15:35):
looked at the Google reviews. They're not great. The pizza
doesn't look great. He goes, yeah, but they new they
try harder. People open up a new business, we should
support a new business. They try harder. I agree with
that statement, But but I do you agree with Google
ratings too? Okay? So what I said to him was,
I said, look, if you're going to a fine dining establishment,
I get they're gonna try harder with the service, and
(15:55):
you know the waiters are going to be like the
most attentive. But you go to a pizza place, either
it's good or it's not. You can't try harder to
make the pizza. You're making the pizza the way you
make the pizza. He' said, come on, it's on me.
If it's no good, it's my blame. I'll take the heat.
I said, all right, we'll go. We went today. How
(16:19):
I could seezza. I can see by the way across
the main road, the good pizza place. That's how close
they are. I can see the place I wanted to
go to. So we go in. We get there at noon,
roughly noon. It already sounds like ship pizza. So the
(16:39):
reviews said, there's no established crust on the pizza. There's
no crust. So we walk in the case Detroit style.
They so the sign on the window says Detroit style.
But the Troit style is deep dish like a Sicilian.
The crust, no, this is thin cross with like a
(17:04):
tiny little bump of crust. A crean little bump a crust. Okay,
we look at the case. The case is half empty.
I didn't like the pizza, so I'm not saying half full.
It was half empty. And I'm looking at all the
pizza at twelve thirty and it's all like three slices
of this and two slices of that. And I know
some places make a pie and they do like different
(17:24):
toppings and they cut it up. Whoa, whoa, whoa. What
time did they just left right right where this is going?
They all knew leftover right, all the pizza left over?
So I have I any fucking slice of pizza. At
the end of your night. You throw every motherfucking pizza away.
You start fresh in the morning. There is no fucking
(17:44):
That is bullshit. This is your empt degree, right, this
is your opportunity to try harder, like like my friend
thought they were gonna do. So, I say to the
guy because I looked on the website and there was
a picture of sausage pizza and it was sliced sausage
long slice, which I like. I like the like the slices,
the long slice. So I go, you gotta I go.
(18:05):
I'm looking he is gonna help you. So I said,
you got any sausage slices? He goes, no, but we
will have them later today. I said, okay, but I'm
here now. He goes, oh right, yeah, no we don't
have them. What am I taking a fucking inventory of
what you're gonna do for dinner? I'm not coming back,
so uh, I go. You know what, this was scary.
(18:28):
It was one slice that looked fucking decent. One slice
of margarita slice. I'm like, you know what, give me
the in margarita slice, which by the way is my
favorite slice of pizza across the street at the good place.
So I'm like, give me a I didn't get a soda.
I didn't get He's gonna slice. Jeep goes and gets
two slices, and it's so new scary. The register's not
(18:49):
set up. They're taking cash to like uh uh four
dollars for that slice. You gotta wait for them to
work out the canks before you could even think about
visiting a place like this. Yeah. Yeah, So anyway, very
nice people. They bring the pizza to my to the table,
which was very nice. The pizza looks like if you
bought dough and gave it to your twelve year old
(19:11):
kid and said, here, Mikey, you can make pizza yay.
And you know, like when you take your thumb and
you pinch the dough around the edge to just make
a little bit of cruss the word right, that's what
the pizza was like, paper thin. Now, if I'm Dave Portnoy,
oh oh oh, everyone knows the rules. Oh that's the way.
I like your boss style. Oh love a good bar pie.
(19:33):
So with a crispy undercarriage. They got a big thing,
big sign the window Detroit style pizza. Right, it's a
half hour if you want Detroit Stop pizza. This no
Detroit stalp pizza ready, It's all this thin crushed ship
from yesterday spizza scary it was. It was. It was
average at best. It was his five like it was.
The sauce was good. The bread was like Mazza. It
(19:55):
was like eating Mazza pizza. So after lunch, so Jeep
says to me, yeah, man, I'm sorry, it's on me.
I said, I told you, I told you four point
one on Google. We're not going there. Ooh four point one. No,
Scary Jones does not going to a four point one. Ever,
they didn't have a lot of reviews. It wasn't like
that a lot of reviews. So I was like, oh,
(20:16):
maybe like there's got a lot of bad maybe they
had a bad day. Nope, bad pizza, scary.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
You know.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
I want you to think about it for a second.
After we say goodbye at the cars, he gets in
his car, getting my call. He gets in his jeep.
I getting my car. What did I do the second
I got in my call? What did I tell you?
Went right down the road and got your favorite pizza?
I went right across the road to the good place,
and I said, ah, I was god. I go I
got to tell you something. I said, you want you
(20:43):
to know. I went to the new place with my
boy to try it because he said let's try it,
and I said no, let's come here. He's like, no,
let's try a new place. And I went there for pizza.
He goes, how was it? I go, how was it?
I'm here for pizza. So he goes, oh, I'm yeah,
laughed he I'm so sorry. So I got a good
slice of pizza. The point is, don't go to places.
(21:04):
I'm not saying. I don't want to say don't go
to places when they first open. I'm not going to
say that get your shit together before you open the
doors absolutely, or give shit away, have price and say like, hey, listen,
this is a bonus. We just opened. We're a little bumpy.
What they don't thanks for your patience? Don't serve day
old pizza. Is I walk in on your first week
of being open. I want to see you got there
(21:27):
five o'clock in the morning. You're making fresh pizza. Yeah, whatever,
And I walk in and it's all hot pizza. You
don't get a second chance to make a first impression
when a place is brand new. You got to be
on your fucking shit because people are not going to
give you a second chance, like you'll never go back
in there again, a second chance thirty eight special, You'll
never you will never go back in there again. You know. Well,
(21:51):
there's also what about established places that are just resting
on their laurels? Isn't celindion? What about second chances? Did
she sing that, No, it's that's taking chances. Uh what
do you say to taking chances? Oh? Yeah, my bet,
my bet, yeah, ah, I will I got okay. So
I was on a I recorded a podcast with a
(22:15):
couple of guys from a podcast called The Brooklyn Stoop
as they have. I know those guys, they're hilarious. So
they tape in Brooklyn on a stoop and you sit
there and you know, they interviewed me about me. I
went to the stoop sat down with them the week
before they had the rizzler on the rizzler that little kid.
(22:35):
Oh you had to follow the rizzler. Yeah, what a
hard act to follow. Right. Yeah. By the way, google
stoop if you're not from the area. St op it's
if you don't know what a stoop is. It's like
the steps, the steps in front of your house. I'm
just gonna give them the shortcut and then google stoop ball. Yeah,
because that was a sport we used to play. Yeah,
the steps in front of the house, in front of
the in front of the front door. But anyway, yeah,
(22:56):
so you know, I went to the and it was great.
These guys are awesome. There are They are Department of
Sanitation workers by day and they are doing this podcast
in their spare time as their side hustle. And they're
hilarious and they're from Brooklyn and they brody. They are
a left, a left every second, they are a riot.
(23:17):
They rip each other ten times worse than we rip
each other than the two of us do. But after
the stoop, they were like, come on, let's do some reviews.
I'm like, fucking I Hey, let's go. So it went.
We went to the city and we did. We did
a couple of the Battle of the Cheese Steaks. We
(23:38):
went to Danny and Coops, which is Bradley Cooper's cheese
steak place. And then wait wait wait wait wait wait
wait you went to they took you for lunch. Yeah, well,
after the stoop and they were interviewing you. Why because
I'm Scary Jones and they're big fans and they grew
up their whole life and it was so surreal sitting
with me as they as they said, as they put it. Oh,
(24:00):
and I did a live phone tap on one of
their mothers and it was fucking hilarious and it was
in the moment. And how often did you promote the
Brooklyn Boys podcast? Oh? I talked about three or four times? No,
we did, we we we mentioned Brooklyn Boys. And did
they they mentioned growing up listening to me at all? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, good?
(24:22):
Anyway they do want in case I don't even need
to listen as long as I know that they they
want us. They definitely they want to do a collab
with us. But anyway, that's a whole other story. Yes, yes,
uh so I get it. Do I get a cheese day?
They checked out our podcast and they loved it so
but they haven't released them. So they heard there were
two of us on the podcast. Yes, they know, they
(24:42):
know all about you. They groups into the radio station.
That's how they know me and you, so they know
you too. They love the phone taps. They know I
do a lot of the phone taps. Yes, they know
all about your history. Anyway, it was was my phone
busy when they called. Well, they just wanted me on
the stoop root for one. When it comes to being stoop,
(25:03):
I understand why right, No, really, there's two of them.
You imagine if we're gonna have them on, we have
both of them? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah we can. We
can get their names again, Ralph, Ralphie and uh and Chris,
now Ralphie, let's have let's have Chris on, but not Ralph.
Well Ralph. Ralphie also is a business. Uh he makes
(25:26):
rice balls. It's called I Got Balls and he did
all the feasts, loves his balls are supposed to be
so great. Okay, they will have him on, but not Chris.
Chris what almost was on the Jersey Shore, except they
chose Vinnie over him. It was down to him and Vinnie.
So Vinnie, that's like you and me. They chose you,
and so we won't have Chris on. But Chris is
(25:49):
also has been on other MTV shows over the years.
He's got a face for TV. He's a good looking kid.
They both are. They're good looking guys anyway. But that's
not the whole point. The point I was getting driving at.
I'm not going to give you the verdict of what
happened about Danny and Coops versus the other cheese steak.
Ge a second, Wait a second, wait a second. You
went to Danny and Coops. Yep, and you mentioned that
(26:12):
Coops is who Bradley and who's Danny. Danny is the
guy from Angelo's in Philly, arguably the best cheese steak
in Philly, So Danny, but you only mentioned you only
mentioned Coop. Well, Bradley Cooper's the star. So anyway, so
I'm the Danny in this situation. The Danny and Coop anyway,
the mistake. We did a review there and then we
(26:33):
went to Gee's Cheese Steak and old On. Hold on
if they had Danny and Coop on that podcast where
they only invite Coop. All right, well, Berdie, Well we
can figure this out another time. But my once again,
this is a diversion sidetrack. Sidetrack, sidetrack. If I was
there on this podcast, you wouldn't have a sidetrack. All right,
we'll have you on at some point. We'll have you on.
(26:55):
Now you're one of the three of them. Now you're
one of the gang. We'll have you on. Well, I'll
say that they they they they invited me back because
they they thought that's such a great time. They were
a pissa anyway, So you gotta go on twice without me. No,
that's not true. Anyway, we haven't even dropped these episodes yet.
But let me get to it, and they're gonna they're
gonna edit me into them. My god. Okay, so we
(27:21):
did the chief Stake reviews. We'll talk about I don't
want to give anythway, but this was on going back
to the original point, which was established organizations and companies
that are resting on their laurels, which is the opposite
of a new business startup that you experienced with bad pizza,
with bad, bad product pizza. We went for dessert. They're like, well,
(27:45):
what's some good dessert in the area. I'm like, well,
Veniro's has been opened since eighteen ninety four, and let
me tell you it sounds like a disease. Venis well,
it's yeah, it gives for you know, Ferrara is like
one of the original old school ones. Veniro's is the
other one, and and they've been there since the eighteen hundreds.
So we did this in Brooklyn. This is in Manhattan.
(28:06):
We went to Manhattan. So you did the podcast in Brooklyn, Yes,
the podcast in Brooklyn. And then we went to the
cheese take places in Manhattan and to do side by
sides on the cheese steak spots. But anyway, yeah, so
we went for dessert and I said, I got just
the place. And we did a review of the desert
of Venios and what's the trifecta if you have to
(28:27):
three things at the Italian pastry shop that you got
the can, the termasoux or the to tofo. Okay, that's
my four or five. You're gonna go lobster lobster lobster
tails versus and come on, name name the third thing.
What's what is the the cream the cream pie? No,
(28:48):
I think think cookie, rainbow cookie. So we got three,
we got we got three of each, right for the
three of us, and and we had to do all three.
Brody ah they Veniros. And I was so embarrassed because
I came in hot and it's on camera and you'll
see it. How I compared it to some of the
(29:10):
best places like Villabate Alba, these places we grew up
in Brooklyn, these iconic pastry shops. I said, oh, Veniros.
I said, oh, they're they're right there, if not even
better than those. Hold on, before you say anything, I
have a couple of questions. Hold on, yeah, had you
been there before? Yes, of course several times. I've actually
cheated on villabate Alba, but with by bringing my family
(29:34):
Veniros on Christmas Day. Oh I've but dude, I had
to put my foot in my mouth and I think
that tasted better than what you were eating. Well, the
lobster claw, the lobster tail was nice and crispy, awesome, awesome.
The rainbow cookie was me, but Brody, Veniro's Pastry Shop
(29:56):
resting on your fucking laurels since eighteen ninety four, they
broke the cardinal rule of Canolis, and the very second
we all ate the canoli, we all said, what the
fuck are you all doing here at Venia? The little
pieces of jelly in it worse? Oh those little those
(30:17):
little like those No, no, that, Brody, how do you
how do you fuck up a canoli? Come on, Pizza Bagel,
hold on, hold on, I'll tell you what. We leave
us as a cliffanger. Answer as a cliffhanger, and we'll
(30:38):
take a break. I got it, I got it, I
got it. Okay, you'll give me the answer after this, Brody, Okay, Okay,
So I've had so again. This is my theory because
I've had canolis that do this, and I'm very disappointed.
And slices. This is slices. This goes for every fucking
pastry shop that you all know. If I think we're
(31:00):
he's gonna comeup with the right answer. If you this
is a big fuck up that they did. All right,
hold on, And it's not about the quality of the cream.
Has nothing to do with the cream. Okay, they put
in cream from one end. They put in cream from
the other end, and the middle. Was that that is
David Brody the Jewish Boy's answer. Oh yeah, no, no,
(31:21):
that's not the fucking answer, Brody, because that's what pisses
me off. Oh the cream on the left, cream on
the right, it's hollow middle. Or like when the ice
cream man, when mister Softy only decorates the top, he
goes around the rim of the fucking cone, and then
the whole thing is is and he'll hollow, it'll hollow,
and they they don't start from the bottom of the cone.
(31:42):
And I'm bringing the ice cream in from the fucking No,
it wasn't a chinsy thing, Brody, chinsey slices. You know
the answer. If you said they fucking piped the canoli
hours before and left it in the goddamn refrigerator, saw,
then you had the right answer. Oh, they pre piped,
(32:03):
that's a you you we they pulled the canois out
of the refrigerator. The cream was already in them. What
happens when the cream has been in them for more
than fucking two three hours, It cans, as we say,
shangat shank God reading you bite, you bite the fucking
uh you bite the shell, lay on it. No, no,
you bite the shell and the shell literally bends, bends
(32:25):
with your mouth. There's no crunch, right, it was a
fucking bend. The shell sucked because the cream had been
stuffed in there hours before. Every good canol maker knows
that you gotta pipe it fucking fresh on the spot.
And a reason, a reason. If it's a Saturday, a Sunday,
(32:47):
and you've got hundreds of these going out, you pipe
them in the morning, they're gone by the middle afternoon.
You're fine. But this was piped fucking yesterday. Those canoe's
been sitting there and you know what, fuck that Veniros,
you've been opened eighteen ninety four, while you should know
that eighteen ninety five. You should know Bettervenios. Okay, So
(33:08):
that is and I said, the reason I guessed my
thing that the middle was empty is it never occurred. Okay, Jimmy,
the world thank you that Venereo would leave the Canoli's
and the refrigerator. That's like when you have next you
bring the Connoli home, you put in the fridge next day,
canola and you're like, oh, it's mush, because there's no
way to refrigerate the cream and not the shell. So
you can't do that. Well, you you refrigerate the cream
(33:31):
and you can refrigerate the shell separately. It's okay to
do that, but when when the person orders them, you
got the fucking baker's pipe bag. That's why. That's because
there's such volume. They gotta pre they gotta prep it.
They gotta prepare it on a Tuesday, on a Tuesday,
on a Tuesday. I love Macona and Drake. Really really,
(33:55):
that is a fucking that's that is almost as bad
as the pizza I had today, or as serving chicken
tenders and putting sauce and cheese on it and calling
a chicken palm. That is a fucking crime. You don't
do that. You do not hiding one part. It's like
inviting a married couple. We only invite one of the
couple to something. Oh like, okay, they have let's say that,
(34:17):
let's say that podcast like our our Deanna the video
person's uh wedding like that scary?
Speaker 3 (34:26):
No?
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Was it me?
Speaker 2 (34:28):
It's not about marriage? God, she invited Gandhi from the
Big Show without with her boyfriend. Yeah, I get that,
and that makes sense to me. But but she invited
me with Robin. Yeah, but there's a difference. I mean,
it's not I'm not my place to discuss the differences,
but you know what the difference. Okay, great, anyway, there's
a difference, all right, Well you want me to talk,
(34:49):
it's not it's not my place to discuss other people's life. No,
I was gonna, I was gonna see if you wanted
to have her on, because it's because she had to
like whittle down her guest list and there's some certain
people that put her on. Okay, but you've been at
Robin for ten years, twelve years, fourteen years? How long
has it been? Yeah, maybe more than that, But kad,
this doesn't matter a lot. You've been a lot of
the exclusive, right, You've been exclusive with Robin to the
(35:10):
point of you're a thing. You guys are a thing, right,
you guys see each other every week. You're a thing. Well,
we talked about it on the air, came out live
on the radio in real time. Okay. So then while
I'll agree, I don't want to it's not my place.
But why don't you tell me how it was discussed?
Why hurt? Why Gandhi's relationship is different than yours. No,
I don't know it was. I don't think every reason
(35:30):
was given. I guess because he's comes to more things
in a different state, I guess, And I don't know,
right whatever, So right, she was invited without a guest,
So I'm not saying she shouldn't have had a guest.
I'm saying there is a slight difference in the relationship level. Okay,
fair enough, that's all. I just think Robin is like families,
Robin's part of the show for twenty years or whatever.
(35:52):
I see. Robin comes to all the events. Brandon, who's
an awesome dude. By the way, Look, Brandon is the
fucking best. He's the best. He doesn't he's not unfortunately,
because he lives out of town, isn't able to beat
as much apart. Right, Oh, you know whatever, So I
understand the level. When you don't have a lot of money,
you got to pick and choose your levels. Yeah, that
was a future topic I wanted to use on Brooklyn Boys.
Was no ring, no bring question mark. I mean, is
(36:15):
that right? A lot of you'd go to every wedding alone, buck,
A lot of a lot of brides do that. They
they have that little mantra, and that's how they decide
the mantras. Okay, but that's not that that's not true.
What about a couple that's like forever partners, they just
don't believe in marriage, that live together, have kids together. Yeah,
there's no ring naiga. I know. But look at look
(36:36):
at you Kurt Russell and Goldie Horn. They've got a
family after family, they've grand kids. You never got married.
All right, how do we give on this topic? We
were talking about fucking Sean got Canolis. What are you
doing here? What are you doing? Let me ask you
a question, but you brought it up. Let me ask
a question if you haven't. If you're having a big party,
you have a party. If you're inviting Kurt Russell, you're
gonn'tvite Goldiehorn? Right of course? Yeah, of course, Goldiehorn, the great.
(37:00):
You know what I bring? I let you know what,
Why don't you bring your kids? Kate Hudson and Wyatt Russell?
You have the kids that I don't care about, But
you can bring those two. I'll bring four of them
because that's a family I wanted my wedding. That's a
family I'm inviting. I'd be like you know, you know,
no ring but okay, but some weddings, I you know, whatever.
But I that was so that you went on the
air and discussed why she didn't invite Brandon. No, no,
(37:23):
because it came out on the air because we were
talking about r s vping for the wedding. The rs
VP was ended was yesterday, that was the the coast,
so that you said I'm our no, no, no, they
had so so Deanna was talking about it because because
people like myself and Elvis didn't click the link. And
Elvis said, I'm an RSVP live on the air, how
(37:44):
about that? And we did a little fanfare after everyone
He did like one of those yeah I hear by
and you know we'll attend your wedding, right, So did
you say I scary Jones and we'll yeah right? Then
the other thing is yeah, no Doandhi said I will
(38:05):
be there with Brandon. And then Dianna was like, well
I didn't invite Brandon. We're talking about you. I didn't
you didn't get a plus one pointed out when she
goes to RSVP, you'll see that. Yeah, well I guess okay,
here's a question. No, no, they found out she found
out live on the air that she didn't have a
plus one. She didn't know it happened, It happened in
(38:26):
real time. Oh ouch exactly, yeah, oh ouch ouchi ucci
ucci ouchi. Anyway, that's not what we were talking about.
We were talking about cream, sean gots canoli got I
just yeah, if you and the pizza, I'm sorry, when
(38:47):
you open for lunch, you better have fresh pizza. It's mari, ladies,
gentlemen whatever you guys consider yourselves ladies and gentlemen. Saliva
if you saliva? Is that a group? Yeah, it's a song. Okay, fine.
So if you ever taste a canoe and and the
(39:10):
shelf feels rubbery, it's because the cream has been in
their way too long, all right. That was the That
was the the crux of that conversation. And you should
tell your local pastry shop that they the bakery that
they can improve their product if they keep the canola
cream separate. Then the shells, of course, and and then
(39:32):
and then pipe it as you go. How many canoe's
am I really ordering? How many am I piping at
a time. So, unless it's a holiday weekend or so,
there's a big rush on a Saturday or Sunday and
you want to pre pipe, but just make sure that
they don't stay piped overnight. You only pipe enough Canoli's
for what you're going to use for the day. And
(39:52):
that's it, all right. That that's my you know, you know,
at my dad's party, we brought the an only guy
in the guy that walks around pipe into canolis, the
freshest Condoe mentioned. We actually labeled the episode freshly piped cream.
Freshly piped cream that we talked about it. Yeah, yeah,
the crunchiest shell. It was so good. That's a good canoli. Anyway,
(40:15):
videos disappointed me, legacy, legendary place, but you know, hopefully
somebody will set them on a better path. I was
embarrassed because here I am on camera and these two
guys are looking at me like scary. I don't know
shit about it. I said, no, no, you don't understand. I've
had them on Christmas before and they were fresh and
they were crunchy and everything. I don't know what the
(40:36):
fuck's going on in here. Embarrassed on the podcast. On second,
hold on, let me ask you something. Do you actually
enjoy that music? Yeah? Boom, yeah, you like that like
(40:58):
you like that song. You cannsider it a good song.
I hear it come on the radio. Yeah, you you
know I like rock music. Yeah, but that doesn't really
have any sounds like the Beasty Boys. No, it doesn't.
(41:18):
That sounds nothing like the Beastie Boys. Sabotage Yeah, same
same effects the boys. No, gentlemen, Yeah, that is the
most irritating, grating thing I think I've heard. I'm going
to send you the link. I want you to listen
to the whole song. I want you to listen to
all song. Come back next week and go. You know
what slices? Is that good music? I'm gonna go. No,
(41:42):
it's hard rock, you know. I listen to hard rock.
I know, but at least the hard rock has, like,
has some rhythm and melody to it. And there's that
melody you're talking about. It's just it's I don't know,
it's not my What about boom by pod boom No,
(42:02):
boom shell lack a lack of boom? Are you telling
me you don't like boom? No? I don't what is boom?
You've never hold on all o? No? Please don't, please don't.
We don't have to. I don't think you want to
subject everybody to this. What do you doing? Play too
much of it? Hold on, Oh.
Speaker 4 (42:27):
My god, I can't play anyone that is boom, here
comes the boom.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
Come on, it's it's it's driving music. You know that
ain't driving music. That's driving fast music. All right on,
I gotta take a break. That's all right, all right,
Nicki minaj Red. Listen to that. You listen. I love
(42:59):
I love my my beats permitted, right, I like my
talk chords. That's so there. You go, okay to each
his own right.
Speaker 3 (43:06):
Then, boys podcast, we will.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
Be right back. So I got a restaurant story for you,
not a good one. Doesn't end well, and it's not me.
I wasn't there. Just I want to tell you his story.
So I'm out to lunch today with my boy Jeep,
and his son is young enough to be working part
time jobs, you know, like retail restaurants. So he got
(43:30):
a job at a relatively big chain restaurant. So he
comes home from work last week and he says, hey,
I had a disturbing experience at work today. He says, well,
what happened? He says, well, I was working the soup
counter and there was no air conditioning in the kitchen.
(43:54):
It was hot. I don't know, because it was terribly hot,
and I was sweating, and I was sweating into the soup.
Oh you dripping? Yeah, So I noticed that the kid
next to me was also dripping into the sauce. Extra salt,
(44:15):
extra sauce. I told the supervisor and he said, wait,
wait was he the s O U P supervisor? Yeah,
that's right. The soup. Yeah, the supervisor revisor very good.
And apparently the guy said, don't worry about it. The
heat will kill the germs. What the fuck? Who's getting
sweat soup? Dude? This is a major restaurant chain, major,
(44:42):
big time. So what's the fix? The fixes? I can't
eat there now. It's a location I used to go
into and you know it, and you're you're now never
gonna go in there again, not if I know that
the people are sweating in the soup and the saw
that's why it tasted so good. That's the secret sauce.
(45:06):
The chicken Alfredo is actually from alfredo. I don't want
I don't want to set. Yeah, that's that's that is.
That is hard to recover from Sweatshowder, that's hard to
cover from recover from what do you like? How could
you would you go in there like a month later
and go probably, so did you what did what exactly
did you see? Like? What did you see? You saw
(45:27):
with your friend's son said, his sweat he noticed was
dropping in to the soup when he was putting soup
into containers for customers. His sweat was so hot. Who
was dripping into the food was dripping into the steam table.
It's so insanitary. And he said, he goes, I'm gonna
throw it out. And the guy's like, oh, just put
in the microwave and reheat to kill the germs. So
(45:50):
he quit. He doesn't want to work there. He quit.
It hasn't worked anymore. You got to correct that behavior.
But for you, you just that was a little peak
behind the curtain for you. Yes, you've been even getting sweat.
Can get Can I get a bread bowl? If it's
a slip bowl? I'm like, no, No, that's gross, bro,
(46:11):
that's gross. I don't know what to tell you, buddy.
I I mean, there have been places that I've loved
so much over the years, and then and then all
of a sudden you see them come out with the
report like the rat report where the Health inspector goes
in and they give them like we have grades ABC.
(46:32):
They give them like a failing grade because and then
it tells you in detail, because this is a public
published report, what the fuck they found? They said, is
that rat vermin you know, or rat droppings in the back,
or you know, the shelves had you know, it looks
like they've been gnawed through by fucking some flush eating thing.
(46:54):
It's it's a terrible and you know, I want to
look the other way, and I think I have. There
were a couple of places that got really shitty health
reports that I continue to support. There's two of them
in mine right now that I remember, we're on that list,
and Brody. One of them is in Brooklyn and don't
(47:15):
even don't say the name. And it's like, oh, like
rat feces was found in the in the in the back,
or they found that there was a visual that someone
shot a video where critters were in the overnight. We're like,
(47:36):
that's why you don't keep your pizza overnight, folks, That's
why you throw it away, hey, in case you don't
know it's crawling on it, you know. And I hate
to say it, but it's it's runs rampant. We live
in a city we live in and some of these
places in these in these tight little West village area
with these sellers, where they store the food, they store
(48:00):
all their products, it's you know, that's where the rats are.
That's where the the bugs are, the water bugs, the roaches,
they're all there. So it's kind of inevitable that you're
going to you know. Thence David Brody left the Elvis
dr In Morning show. What are they missing? What don't
they wh are they not doing anymore? What? What did
he bring to the show. Well, there was a segment
(48:21):
that I used to bring to Elvis. Are you talking
about yourself with the third person again? Yes? No, I
was talking about what's missing? Since Yeah, it was a
little bit. There was a segment I used to bring
to Elvis for a while. We did it for a while.
For a while. Elvis was like, I'm done with this,
but it was good for a while. In New York,
they will list on a website on the Health Department
website the top one hundred worst restaurants. Restaurants fail fail
(48:46):
every week, right and fail inspection every week, so that
you know where not to go. So I would print
out the list and it would show you, like all
the things they were sighted. That's what I was just saying.
It would highlight. I would highlight all the things so
that Elvis would I would give him like ten of
the really bad ones. He'd be like, oh, you're like, uh,
mister Ollie's and queens, uh rat feces and vermin found dead,
(49:11):
vermin found fly flies u. You know, it would list
all this shit feces and it would be like all
this stuff, and I'm like and then the funny thing
is not that it's not really funny. It's like three
months later, these same restaurants would be listed again and
you're like, how are people going to these places that
have this? But it was a funny bit because it
(49:33):
was just so over the top all of this, like
it's one to get you, like, didn't have bleach near
the near the cleaning station, didn't have like a rag
clean rag when you have like dead rats laying around,
or or all the wors seafood is not being stored
at the proper temperature, like it's it's too warm, or
the found and or or or a steam table with uh,
(49:55):
let's say beef has been sitting out all day, and
it's not at it's not being maintained with certain temperature,
so the bacteria, the mold could grow whatever. A lot
of places are cited for these little things, and more
of them are in violation than not I mean, or
at least none of them. They're not all perfect, you know,
(50:17):
but none of them have ever in my not so
well those times we did that bit, not once was
any place ever cited for for sweat soup. So no
sweat soup. Uh yeah, So let's get let's get off
the grow stuff. I want to play just an audio
clip and then we can go wherever you want to go.
But oh, I got something for you. But we'll have
(50:39):
to take a break for this because it'll be a
big thing. It'll be it'll be real quick. We talked
about the real meaning of the song the outfield You'll
love your Love. Yeah. I think I played this on
Slice time, but I just want to play it again.
Baseball players are coming up with this music, right, that's
their walk up music.
Speaker 5 (50:57):
They walk up music. Here a little wait, wait, he's
gonna pitch this inning or two.
Speaker 2 (51:07):
Yeah, So the announcers are just coming on. But then
stadium's playing that song. Yeah, like, why are you coming
to bat to a song about cheating on your girlfriend
or your wife because they don't know the meaning of it,
the same way we really didn't analyze the lyrics before this. Yeah. Yeah,
you just think it's because the band, the name of
the band is the outfield that they're just coming up.
(51:27):
That's why I think they chose it's by the outfield.
That's cool, it's got you know, it's it has a
baseball term in it, so speaking to baseball, sometimes things
sound dirty that aren't well. Keith Andandez, one of the
announceers for the Mets, was talking about the player on
the Braves how he was holding the bottom of the
bat differently. He was holding it lower down than most players,
(51:50):
and the bottom of the bat that rounded parts called
the knob the knob. Listen to the whole conversation and
picture the whole thing. If he was talking about something
sexual and not about the bat.
Speaker 3 (52:00):
Hold on, because really goods down on the knob, more
than I've seen usually would hits. When you say hits
on the knob, his pinky is on the knob, have
you had that? His pinky is below the knob.
Speaker 2 (52:15):
You've had that.
Speaker 3 (52:16):
Look at that. It's on the bottom underneath. That's very unusual.
Why would you do that? I don't know. I would
go the knob, Gary, if a picture had a good
change up. He'd go the knob just to get a
more length on my back.
Speaker 2 (52:30):
He wants to get used to choke up an inch
on the knob. You have a wrap your pink here
on the knob, around the knob. That's very funny. This
is how it started. Here we go. I want to
play the beginning. It's the beginning.
Speaker 3 (52:43):
Because really goods down on the knob more than I've seen.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
He gets down one down on the knob, that sloped
the knob. He gets down on that knob. Good time,
very very fun The last restaurant thing here there was
a and pull it up. A woman went to on
the Border, one of my favorite restaurants, Love on the Border.
Although a lot of them have closed, only one left
(53:08):
in the area. A woman left a one star review
complaining about her ice melting in her drink and the
restaurant owner's response. People are posting it. So here's what
she wrote. This was her complaints. Scary, you tell me
if it's legitimate. I'll read what the manager wrote. This
was her Google review. I showed up ten minutes before closing,
and the waitress looked angry with me. You can relate
(53:30):
to that scary right, sure, she wrote, Honey, if you
want to close earlier, then change your hours. Well, first
of all, you can't walk in ten minutes for closing
and expect to sit down in order. You have to
be a human being and know that that means you
have to be done at closing. Okay, she wrote, the
(53:51):
menu had too many options and it stressed me out.
Whose fault is that? Then? She wrote, they serve chips
and salsa before the meal, and when my food came,
I wasn't even hungry anymore. Whose fault is that the
waitress said things like no problem instead of you're welcome.
(54:11):
That's basic manners. They must use warm glasses because the
ice in my drink melted too fast and watered down
my drink. The portions were too big, so I got
it to go bag. I left the bag in my
back seat on accident, which is by accident, not on right,
I'm sure, on accident, And now my car smells like
their food probably won't be back unless they fix their
(54:32):
attitude and their menu. Now is any of that anyone's
fault of hers? No, this is all on her squarely. Okay.
So she's mad her eyes smelted. Okay. She's mad that
the food portions were too big. She's mad she left
it in her car. She's mad that they were closing
(54:54):
in ten minutes when she walked in. She's mad they
gave her salsa and chips. Woul she made her full
before her food arrived because she was forced to eat
the sime blaming yourself, honey. Here's the response on Google
review from the manager. Let me get this straight. You're
angry because one you showed up right before closing and
(55:15):
were upset that our staff looked like they were closing. Two,
you ate so much food that you weren't hungry anymore.
Three ice melts. Four you're angry because we gave you
too much food. Five we didn't personally escort the to
go box out of your back seat. We're sorry the
(55:37):
laws of time, temperature, and personal responsibility didn't work in
your favorite. Any our hours, ice, manners, and menu will
all remain unchanged. That is a great response. Great response.
Now is anything she complained about legitimately. No, it's not.
It's all fucking fake. And they got a one star
(56:00):
because of that. And that sucks because people are only
going to see that top line item and that's the rating,
and the rating is gonna suffer unfortunately. That's terrible. I
want to hold up the picture of her. Can you
see her picture? Oh, my, Gobby, that's Gabby. What does
she look like? Her real name is fucking Karen, Karen,
Karen and big black glasses. But she is she is
(56:23):
the Karen she is. That is that is what Karen
looks like. Yeah, change the hours you're open. If you
don't want Rody, you should have jumped in on that.
Respond to her. Can you get in there? People should?
People should download it. I don't have the I don't
have the actual, Well, the actual when you come back
on Instagram. Right when we come back, we're going to
talk about something that I think. Uh, I don't know.
(56:45):
People are gonna have an opinion one way or another. Well,
isn't that what everything? One way or another? I just
let it. I led you there one way or another.
I'm going to find you. I'm gonna get you, get you,
get you scary. So this is a story that started
(57:06):
locally on the Point Pleasant Beach Boardwalk, but blew up
nationally and went viral because of a video clip that
that it included. There's this very famous, long running place
across the boardwalk from Jenkinson's called Joey Tomatoes. Joey Tomatoes
(57:28):
is a pizza place on the Point Pleasant Beach Boardwalk.
A family was in there celebrating their five year old
nephew's birthday, and according to the family, they had called
ahead and they specifically asked if it would be okay
to bring a birthday cake for the five year old,
(57:48):
and they were told yes by a lesser employee. Keep
that in mind. Then they went on to spend forty
two dollars a pie, two hundred and fifty dollars in pizzas,
with drinks and pizzas twenty fifty bucks, and at the
end of the meal, they went up to the owner
(58:10):
to ask for a knife to cut the birthday cake
that they brought. Okay. So this is where I guess
the viral clip picks up because they were denied the knife.
The owner was like, no, what are you talking about.
We're a pizza place. We're not a fucking birthday place,
a party venue. We serve pizza, not cake, and you
(58:30):
should have brought your own well you should have brought
your own knife. But I have kids. You bring your
knife if it's to that kind of place. Well, the owner, Doreen,
was seen on video this is what went viral. You
can look this up now, screaming and yelling. And obviously
there's three sides to every story, right, your side, their side,
(58:52):
and the truth. One of the sides is the truth
sometimes yeah, but the only thing seen on camera is
this woman going off is the own are going off
on them. She didn't use any racial slurs. Well they're
starting to on no, no, no, no. Online the online sentiment,
you know, the comments section the peanut gallery. Everybody the
(59:14):
internet is siding squarely with the family, saying, look, she
called ahead, she got permission. All she was asking for
was for a knife. But the but the owner, unbeknownst
to her, her employee, gave them permission to bring the cake.
But she said, I ain't supplying you with a fucking knife.
Now that's where I think the owner fucked up. Okay,
(59:37):
forget about your policies for a minute. You're talking about
a five year old's birthday. They spent two hundred and
fifty dollars in pizza. They chose you a place, they
chose your place to celebrate. So I would come down
on them right then and there and be like, you
handle it wrong. The fucking customer is always right. You
want to prevent, and especially in this day and age,
(59:58):
if not, people must have a knife. Of course they do,
of course they do. She was being a spiteful bitch.
I've fucking been there, I've supported that place over the years.
I've been drunk coming out of Jenkins's, eating at Joey Tomatoes.
You've made millions of fucking dollars off of everyone's bones.
It's bullshit. She shouldn't have She shouldn't have argued. She
could have kept it, and it would have kept everything
(01:00:19):
out of the press. It would It would have tied
it up into a bow. Plus, you can't yell when
everyone's got a phone. He was recording. It was a
terrible mistake. It was a missteps. Say let's say in
a million years, you don't have a knife. Let's say
they legitimly only have pizza cutters. Let's say legitially they
haven't got a knife. You know what you do. You
know what, I don't have a knife, but let me
run next door. Yes, I bet you they have a knife.
(01:00:41):
Make the accommodation for your customer who just spent two
hundred and fifty dollars. Now, so obviously this place is
being crushed. They're calling it rotten tomatoes. They're calling the
other people are throwing tomatoes at Joey Tomatoes, and and
they keep going back to the fact that what did
(01:01:02):
the employee give the permission over the phone? Whatever? Either way,
Joey Tomatoes maintains that its policy prohibits outside desserts and
that they don't do cake at It's a safety, a
food safety, a liability and operational concern. Now now you're
sitting there. Now you're throwing a party for your kid
(01:01:23):
at the restaurant. Now, now then the question comes in,
are you holding that those tables from being turned over
so new customers can't come in and sit, because now
you're kind of thwarting the revenue stream of Joey Tomatoes.
I can see, you know, in a weird way, if
(01:01:45):
I may back off my my pill for a second. Yeah,
about the profanity laced rant you were on, I can understand,
as you know, these are not the policies you're here to.
You got to make your money. You got to meet
your say, I'm not giving you a knife because it's yeah,
yeah she said. She just flatly said, no, no, no,
(01:02:06):
you're not kidding a knife. Sorry. No. You know what
if you go to like a Michelin Star restaurant and
you ask them for ketchup for your steak, and they go,
we don't have ketchup. We don't We're a Michelin restaurant, right,
then I get like, they'll go, no, you're a fucking
pizza place on the Jersey Shore where you're probably like
average at best, but you do business. Because I'm not
saying they're average, but most of them are like shit
(01:02:28):
pizza because your Jersey show, you're on the boardwalk. What
else you're gonna do? You gotta eat something, right, So
you go to like a boardwalk pizza place. Then most
of them aren't great. Some of them are good, but
most of them are like, well, I'll eat it. Like
when you go to a baseball game, you're like, mah,
whatever the pizzas, I'll eat it. Decent, you know, or
you're in a fucking food court. It's food court pizza,
and you're gonna cop an attitude exact a customer who
(01:02:48):
could have gone anywhere for the kid's birthday party? Right,
Oh my god, slices, what would you do? Would you?
Would you rip them? On social media? They who's wrong here?
I think she's wrong. I think don't be yelling. Don't
be yelling. I'll ever happened beforehand. Don't be yelling. It's disgraceful.
What was going on on the video? Now again I
only saw the one video. There was other There was
a lead up. I'm sure listen, the customer could have
(01:03:10):
called her a bitch. The customer, of course, I'm sure
all that happened to ramp up to the anger part
and then they hit the corn. In fact, it's like,
BYO B. If you go to a restaurant, let's bring
your own right right, he'll open the bottle of wine,
of course, they well, they make charge of a corkage feed.
But I don't tell you. Oh sorry, we don't have
a we don't have a cork screw. No, but damn well,
(01:03:33):
it's a little different. It's a little different there because
the wine and the is invited into the restaurant, you cater. Yes,
I agreed, that's what and that's what I was going
to do that pizza place, customers restaurants, you know what
I would do? Hey, you know what? Is it an
ice cream cake?
Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:03:49):
Yeah, it's probably frozen. Let me get some hot water
and I'll come out and help you cut the cake.
If it's a regular cakey cake, then you just give
him a fucking knife. What's the big deal? You Look,
if you don't want a customer having knife, is safety reasons,
then take two seconds and go cut the cake from
you. You say, you know what, We'll cut the cake. It's
just safety reason, right right. I get that we can't
give knives to customers because what if the customer? Now, look,
(01:04:11):
how much damage can you do with a straighted knife?
But let's say you have a straight Now you don't
give us I get it. You don't want to give
a customer a straighted knife. I get that. Then go
out and cut the cake for them. Go out and
get one of your overserve, overserve your customer. Treat them
with worth respect? You do you give Michael Mikey stop
sweating a soup and go and cut the cake with
his customer. How long does that take? What does it cost?
(01:04:33):
Because it costs nothing, but she but the owner whatever
she she was standing on principle that we do this
is our policy, and didn't even go to verify allegedly
if her employee gave permission, didn't give fair and it
doesn't matter at that point, even if even if it
was a made up lie. You're now all the way
(01:04:54):
in this. They're two hundred and fifty dollars deep. The
kid is five years old. Do you think he understands
what's going on? Let the kid have a birthday. What's
wrong with you? What is wrong with you? Do you
own a restaurant? Do you have a legitimate reason not
to help with the cake situation? Would you stand would
you stand on principle and say, I'm not cutting that
cake for you. I'm not giving you a knife now again,
safety reasons. You don't want to give them knife. I
(01:05:16):
get it. You don't have a plastic knife. You have
not to go knife. Nothing I happened. I happen to
fucking love Joey Tomatoes. I do. I've been there several
times over the years. You know me, I spent my
entire life going to the Jersey Shore. Yeah, and I
cannot believe that a long standing business that has been
there for as long as they have and has as
much experience as they have would stand on that this
(01:05:38):
is the hill they want to die on. So I
don't know if it's gonna affect their business much. They're
in a very They're in the most popular location you
can be for the Jenkinson's Point Pleet Pleasant Beach boardwalk.
But I'm just you made a stupid mistake on camera
and now the internet and the and the cunt he's
(01:06:00):
talking about it. You know your business might be affected.
It may may may not, may not, they may you know.
I'm looking at the Google reviews. Oh what is the new?
Because Joey Tomatoes always had like a four point four.
Now this is Joey Tomatoes in Point Pleasant Point Pleasant Beach. Yes, okay,
they must. They must be having their reviews removed. They
(01:06:23):
must have, yeah, because oh I know, people went in,
people went in and gave them one star. Yeah, Okay,
the most recent review is a month ago. Oh they
are that's all been erased. Yeah, and their review is
down to three point seven. But all the reviews are gone.
I'm gonna look at their lowest ratings a year ago,
two months ago. Yeah, no, those those are gone. But
(01:06:44):
I get I think they kept the ratings. Three slices,
two drinks thirty dollars. What a ripoff? Three slices, three
drinks fifty two dollars. Wow, totally overpriced for a large
pizza thirty four. By the way, this person wrote, totally
overpriced for a large cheese pizza thirty four dollars. You
know what, sorry, fuck you. You called it a cheese pizza.
(01:07:09):
Cheese pizza. It's just called pizza. Yeah, it's pizza sixty
first plane slice of pizza. Huh Yeah. Anyway, there's no
reviews for the past month. Of course. No that they
got him erased because I know people were going in there.
Facebook groups are like them. You can prove these people
(01:07:30):
weren't really there. You can have them removed. I will say,
the pizza looks good. It's good pizza. But attitude from
the I had today. Come on, let me ask you, okay,
let me ask you a question. Slices help me out here.
Scary this pizza place I went to today that just
opened the pizza even though it was cardboard from the
day before. It wasn't good pizza. It was no crust,
(01:07:53):
it wasn't good pizza. Now should I go in and
leave a legitimate bad review so that other people warned
because that's a good customer, that's a good service to
the community. Or is that bad for a new business
thoughting out and it's hurtful? I think I think. I
think they need to know that they need to improve. No,
you've got to let them know. No, leave the review.
(01:08:15):
They're not going to get any better. That's how they
make pizza. They may, they may, they may get better. Either.
You don't make cross There's way too much competition and
way too little room for error. They'll be fucking closed
in six months if this is the direction they're going in.
How about this? Had lunch today at this place? Listen.
The best thing I can say is it's only it's
(01:08:36):
right across the street from Good Pizza. There you go.
You know, you don't want to be a dick but
Unford and you don't want to sink a new business.
But you got to be truthful and you you have
to tell it like it is. Let they need to improve,
they need to put the effort in. Well, I won't
go them back so all right, Well that's all. That's
all I got for you today, folks. So oh is
(01:08:58):
that our last break? That was it? Oh? Then I
got to just wrap up. Let me just wrap up.
Want to thank a couple of people, go for it.
I posted on Instagram this week that August eighth was
my last day in radio four years ago. August eighth
was my last day, and I said, oh've been sleeping late.
I put a song in sleeping late, sleeping late. So
I just want to thank a lot of people had
some very nice things to say. I'd like to thank

in Burlington in Tennessee, originally from Staten Islands. She was
in Tennessee and she was in the Little Boys department.
And I don't know if you can see that shirt.
Look how cute that shirt is. Look at the label
Scary makes the shirts. Gosh, no, can you read it? It
(01:10:22):
says Brooklyn Boys. There's a label of boys clothing. Boys. Yeah,
not the Brooklyn Boys, Brooklyn Boys, Brooklyn Boys. That's awesome,
that's great. So she saw that, she's like, oh, there's
a line of clothing made by Brooklyn Boys. And they're
probably not from Brooklyn, but if they are, shout out,
shout out to you. A lot a lot of stuff
(01:10:43):
we didn't get to. So I'll talk to you about
how chatchy pt Uh implied I was a pervert on
next episode. Oh, I can't wait for this. But you
don't need chatchypt to tell me that. For years you
Broclyd bye not Brocoli proclin boys brocol
