I appreciate that.

You're amazing.

I'm like a hundred thousand miles per hour because I
love you guys.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
I love that.
Speaker 5 (00:21):
You're good.
Speaker 7 (00:27):
Daddy loves you.
Speaker 8 (00:30):
You guys ready for your day?
Speaker 9 (00:36):
Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.
Speaker 10 (00:39):
There's just something about Whitney Houston doing the Star Spangled Banner.
There's just something about it.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (00:44):
Hey, welcome to the show. It is 9-11, 25 years in.
Good morning, Danielle.
Speaker 9 (00:48):
Good morning.
Speaker 11 (00:49):
Hi, Gandhi.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Good morning.
Speaker 7 (00:49):
Hello, Skari.
Speaker 5 (00:50):
Hi.
Speaker 7 (00:51):
Hello, Froggy.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Good morning.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
And there's Straight Nate over there.
Speaker 7 (00:55):
Buenos dias.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Of course, here we are in beautiful Miami today.
Speaker 7 (00:59):
Claudia.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
But our hearts are in New York.
Speaker 10 (01:01):
You know, we're watching news channels right now on our monitors,
and we're just looking at the pools, the reflection pools
at World Trade Center. And, you know, it's a day,
you know. This is our 24th show after 9-11. And
it's changed.
Speaker 7 (01:20):
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (01:21):
It's all different now.
Speaker 7 (01:22):
Yeah, of course.
Speaker 10 (01:23):
But yet it's the same. Well, welcome to the day.
Let's see where it goes. And as I say, I
always have a disclaimer on the 9-11 show. I always say, look,
you know what? We're going to be in here having
a good day, a good time. We'll laugh some and
we'll be irreverent as we usually are. We'll also talk
about memories. We'll talk about how we're feeling. And we'll
talk about everything that we talk about. But this show
(01:44):
may not be for you today. You may want to
go have a quiet moment on your own. Or maybe
you want to be with us and hang out. So
that's your decision.
Speaker 7 (01:53):
Anyway, where are we going? What are we doing? What
do you want to do today? Well, we got our
first caller right there. Oh, my God.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Anthony, line two.
Speaker 7 (02:00):
Look at this.
Speaker 10 (02:01):
Good morning. Interesting we have you here, Anthony. I was
just handed a note saying that you... were in the
towers on 9-11 25 years ago.
Speaker 7 (02:09):
Is this true?
Speaker 1 (02:10):
That is correct.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
So tell me about that morning, Anthony. I mean, how
was it for you? Why were you there, and how
did the day end for you?
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Well, I worked at the time. I worked for Empire
Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Speaker 7 (02:24):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
And I had went in very early to work all
the time. So at about 8.45... My boss at the
time sent myself and a coworker to another floor to
bring them moving boxes. So, because the next day they
(02:46):
were going to move down to our floor. So we
got into the elevator. Once we got out of the elevator,
we walked maybe about 100 feet and then bang.
Speaker 7 (02:58):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
What floor were you on when this happened?
Speaker 1 (03:01):
I believe at the time... It's very vague, but I
believe I was on 31 in the North Tower.
Speaker 10 (03:08):
Did you immediately head to the staircase and run as
fast as you could, or what did you do?
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Well, totally what we did, we were grabbing on to
stuff because we didn't know what happened. We thought maybe
it was an earthquake. But then when we looked out
the window, we saw all the debris. We saw the paper.
We saw the metal. So I immediately went to a phone,
and somehow I got through. I called my mother-in-law So
(03:35):
when I spoke to my mother-in-law, I told her what happened,
and I must have woken her up. She said when
I got home, she said that she went to the kitchen,
she put on the TV. As soon as she put
on the TV, she saw the second plane go through
the South Tower.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
So you decided it's time to get out of here?
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Yeah, it's time to get out.
Speaker 7 (04:00):
You know what?
Speaker 10 (04:01):
It's so interesting to me, Anthony. How many people have
that story of why They weren't in the tower that day,
but they should have been. They didn't set their alarm correctly,
or they were on a lower floor by accident. You
were on a lower floor, and this is the way
the universe and God works. So here you are 25
years later. How are you feeling about this day? Is
(04:21):
this still as impactful today as it was a year
after 9-11 24 years ago?
Speaker 1 (04:27):
You have no idea. It's the first thing I think
about in the morning, and it's the last thing I
think about when I go to bed. It just, it's there.
It's there.
Speaker 10 (04:39):
Well, look, Anthony, you know, you are in our thoughts
today and forevermore. And I'm so happy that you're here.
You know, there's so many people who aren't here because
of the obvious. You know, obviously it was meant to be.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
It was meant to be. You're supposed to be here
and you are.
Speaker 12 (04:55):
Go ahead.
Speaker 7 (04:55):
What's that?
Speaker 1 (04:56):
I wanted to say something to you guys. I started
listening to you guys the day after 9-11. They talk
about newscasters and correspondents. Nothing is like you guys. You
guys are so sincere and to the heart. And I
love you guys. I've been trained for 25 years to
(05:17):
get through.
Speaker 12 (05:18):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Wow.
Speaker 12 (05:20):
Well, you know, we had phones.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (05:24):
We paid the bill. I promise. They haven't fired us yet.
So we're here for you, you know.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
I know, but every time I tried, it was always busy.
Speaker 10 (05:34):
Well, I'm happy that you made it, and this is
a special moment that you made it today. I mean,
it's a very important day every year on 9-11, but
for some reason, this 25th anniversary, anniversary seems like too
positive of a word. I don't know, 25 years later,
it's just awesome having you here, and we can feel
your warmth, and we can definitely feel, we can sort
(05:54):
of feel or pretend or try to feel What you're feeling,
because you have a different perspective than us.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
But, hey, look, Anthony. 9-11 is very hard for me.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Well, look, good luck getting through this day. You know
you will.
Speaker 10 (06:09):
And then, you know, you're going to make it to
another 9-11 and then another and then another. And that's
the beauty of it. what's going on here. Anthony, it's
a pleasure speaking with you. Thank you so much. I
know this is so cheap and tawdry, but we're going
to send you a shirt.
Speaker 8 (06:24):
We really need to do better.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
Congratulations.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
You've lived all these years. You get a shirt. It's
as good as we can do.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
I have something for Danielle. Danielle, I know you were
born in the Bronx. I know sometimes you talk about
that Christmas house.
Speaker 13 (06:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (06:45):
The Garabedians.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
The Christmas house. It's gone.
Speaker 7 (06:49):
What happened?
Speaker 14 (06:50):
So that's where they filmed All I Want for Christmas
is You, the Mariah Carey video.
Speaker 7 (06:55):
What happened? It went away?
Speaker 3 (06:56):
What do you mean?
Speaker 12 (06:57):
What happened?
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Well, they're older.
Speaker 8 (07:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
They're older. And do you know the story behind that, Danielle?
Speaker 14 (07:05):
Why it's not there or why it was there in
the first place?
Speaker 1 (07:08):
No, no. Why they started doing all those lights?
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Why did they?
Speaker 1 (07:12):
No.
Speaker 13 (07:12):
No.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
The reason for that is when they were in Italy,
not the ones that are living now, the parents, the
mother had a baby, and the baby in Italy was stolen.
Speaker 7 (07:25):
Someone stole their baby?
Speaker 1 (07:26):
What?
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Was it a dingo?
Speaker 1 (07:29):
I don't know. But the baby, they took the baby
from the hospital. And when they came here, that's why
they started those flights.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (07:38):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 14 (07:38):
People used to donate money and then they used to
donate it to all.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Kinds of charities.
Speaker 14 (07:42):
I remember that.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
That is such a Bronx story, right?
Speaker 12 (07:46):
You know.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Hey, Anthony, you really you lit us up and we're
so ready to get through this day. Thanks to you.
Speaker 10 (07:52):
And I hope you have a beautiful day, Anthony. All
the best to you and your family. OK, thank you
so much.
Speaker 7 (07:57):
And there you go.
Speaker 10 (07:59):
One of the many stories coming out of 9-11. And
thank you for being there for us, Anthony. Guys, let's
get into the three things we need to know with
Gandhi and let's get on with our day.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Gandhi.
Speaker 13 (08:09):
Hello.
Speaker 7 (08:10):
Where were you on 9-11 25 years ago? I was
in a.
Speaker 8 (08:12):
Classroom, actually.
Speaker 7 (08:13):
How old were you?
Speaker 8 (08:14):
Walking into my government class. So it was crazy. And
I think about you guys all the time because I
know you guys saw it very clearly from the studios
that you were in. And I was actually down here.
I live down here.
Speaker 15 (08:27):
In Miami?
Speaker 13 (08:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (08:29):
And I was at Flanagan and I just, it was
a crazy day. Everybody went home, people, their parents came
and picked them up. Like it was nuts. And I
can't imagine being in there the way that you guys
were and just seeing that happen. And then you hear
from our caller and he was in the building and.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
It's like, oh my God.
Speaker 7 (08:44):
Right, right.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Everyone has a story.
Speaker 10 (08:46):
No matter where you were on this planet, you have
a story. All right, let's get into the three things
we need to know.
Speaker 12 (08:51):
Get on with the day.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
What's going on?
Speaker 8 (08:52):
Let's start right there. 25 years ago this morning, the
deadliest attack on U.S. soil since Pearl Harbor was carried out.
The world watched as two hijacked commercial jetliners struck the
World Trade Center, later reducing them to over a million
and a half tons of rubble. Another plane then hit
the Pentagon in a fourth. United Flight 93 was brought
down in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. by passengers and
crew who heard about the earlier incidents. Vice President J.D. Vance,
(09:16):
former Presidents Biden, Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton
will attend the 9-11 commemoration at Ground Zero in New
York City today. Lindsey Clancy's lawyer has filed a motion
seeking a not guilty verdict. Attorney Kevin Reddington has taken
steps to try to avoid a second trial after the
judge in the case declared a mistrial last week. The
(09:36):
motion filed calls, the motion filed calls Calls for a
finding of not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility.
We know Lindsay Clancy admitted to killing her three children,
but pleaded not guilty, citing postpartum psychosis. The defense has
requested the motion be heard before the court on September 29th.
And finally, falling asleep with the light on. Does anybody
(09:58):
in here do it?
Speaker 6 (09:58):
No.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
I know you do. You hate the dark.
Speaker 8 (10:01):
I hate the dark. I'll usually leave the TV on
or I will have a little nightlight somewhere. But apparently,
whether it's watching TV from a nightlight, however it is,
it can weaken your heart.
Speaker 14 (10:12):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 8 (10:12):
Scientists at Tulane University say it could change the function
and structure of your heart, putting you at higher risk
for cardiovascular disease. Their findings build on earlier research that
found that bright light exposure at night can boost heart
failure risk by 55% and make you 47% more likely
to have a heart attack.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (10:30):
Shut the lights off when you sleep. I do sleep
with an eye mask, though. I know it kind of
defeats the purpose.
Speaker 12 (10:34):
You're so weird.
Speaker 8 (10:35):
Yeah, just so if I wake up and I need
to rip that eye mask off, there is light. And
those are your three things.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
You guys ready for your Friday?
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
All right, let's go. Let's have a Friday.
Speaker 9 (10:45):
Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.
Speaker 16 (10:48):

Speaker 9 (11:09):
Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.
Speaker 7 (11:11):
You know, I feel like.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Such a jerk. I didn't say good morning to my girl.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Diamond.
Speaker 7 (11:17):
Where's Diamond?
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Diamond!
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Diamond!
Speaker 7 (11:21):
Diamond!
Speaker 17 (11:22):
Hi!
Speaker 7 (11:22):
Oh, there she is.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
How you doing, Diamond?
Speaker 11 (11:24):
Great.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Yeah, how you feeling?
Speaker 8 (11:26):
Good.
Speaker 11 (11:28):
Had a slow start to my morning.
Speaker 10 (11:30):
Okay, go ahead and tell us about your slow start
to your morning. We're in a great mood. I want
you to bring the house down. Go right ahead.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
What happened?
Speaker 11 (11:38):
I went to park my car and the parking attendant
was nowhere to be found. And so I just had
to sit there for 10 minutes and I'm like, the
show starts soon.
Speaker 8 (11:45):
I have to go, I have to go.
Speaker 11 (11:47):
And so I ran up here and when I ran
back down with my car key, because like I couldn't
leave my key with, you know, The man was very
upset with me, and he just ripped into me.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
And so, yay!
Speaker 7 (11:58):
Oh, get out of here.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
He ripped into you? Like, what is your version of
being ripped into?
Speaker 8 (12:03):
He's like, you can't leave with your car key.
Speaker 14 (12:06):
And I'm like, okay, number one, slow down.
Speaker 13 (12:08):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 11 (12:09):
It's 6 a.m.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Do you know the guy she's talking about?
Speaker 14 (12:10):
Yeah, they'll charge you 50 bucks if you leave your car.
What was I supposed to do? Because they can't move
your car.
Speaker 5 (12:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (12:17):
I want to make sure nobody else, people who don't
work there can't move my car, too.
Speaker 7 (12:21):
Like, I got to be, you know, whatever.
Speaker 11 (12:23):
So, yeah, I'm going to make a cup of coffee
and move on with my day.
Speaker 10 (12:27):
Look, you know, he should have just charged you 50
bucks and it should have been nice.
Speaker 13 (12:29):
What?
Speaker 3 (12:30):
It's like, okay, if you're going to yell at me,
I'm not giving you 50 bucks.
Speaker 18 (12:32):
Right.
Speaker 7 (12:33):
So, you know, F you.
Speaker 11 (12:35):
Oh, so maybe I should be happy that I wasn't
charged 50 bucks and I just got yelled at instead.
Speaker 7 (12:39):
Okay, yes.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Great.
Speaker 8 (12:40):
Great way to look at it.
Speaker 6 (12:41):
Thanks, guys.
Speaker 8 (12:41):
An early birthday present for our girl. That's right.
Speaker 9 (12:44):
That's right.
Speaker 7 (12:45):
There you go.
Speaker 19 (12:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Being yelled at.
Speaker 12 (12:49):
Oh, you know what?
Speaker 7 (12:51):
This is for you. Are you ready for this? Andrew
has it on his phone. Now we all have it
on our phones.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
If you know.
Speaker 12 (12:56):
Hold on.
Speaker 7 (12:57):
If you know, you know. Here we go. Did you
hear it?
Speaker 11 (13:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Don't you know what that is?
Speaker 16 (13:11):
No.
Speaker 14 (13:12):
It sounds like a horror movie to me.
Speaker 7 (13:14):
I didn't know either.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
What is that?
Speaker 8 (13:17):
It's so funny.
Speaker 20 (13:18):
You of all people should know what that is.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Why?
Speaker 11 (13:21):
What is that?
Speaker 7 (13:23):
Is it what we think it is?
Speaker 8 (13:24):
So Andrew said whenever there is a fight on a
sprinter van in a reality TV show, see, she knows.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
They play it.
Speaker 8 (13:31):
That sound is played. So it was played often yesterday.
Speaker 14 (13:33):
The drama knives.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
The knives.
Speaker 7 (13:35):
It's the knives.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Isn't it originally from Hell's Kitchen?
Speaker 8 (13:39):
I think so.
Speaker 14 (13:40):
It sounds like when the person's about to get murdered
in a movie.
Speaker 8 (13:43):
That's what it sounds like.
Speaker 13 (13:46):
Right?
Speaker 14 (13:46):
It clicks.
Speaker 13 (13:48):
All right.
Speaker 7 (13:48):
All right.
Speaker 12 (13:49):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
So we thought about you.
Speaker 10 (13:51):
If you watch Housewives, you know that they always get,
if they're taking a sprinter van anywhere, they get into
a fight.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (13:56):
It's the best.
Speaker 10 (13:57):
So we were on the sprinter van yesterday when we
arrived in Miami and we started fights and we kept playing.
Speaker 7 (14:02):
This over and over.
Speaker 13 (14:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (14:05):
Andrew was instigating them, too. He's like, so, does anyone
have anything on their mind? Who's not going to dinner tonight?
Who wants it to be later?
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Causing problems. I love that.
Speaker 10 (14:17):
Hey, so let me ask you, Diamond, where were you
on 9-11 25 years ago?
Speaker 7 (14:22):
What were you doing?
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Do you remember that?
Speaker 12 (14:23):
Yes.
Speaker 11 (14:24):
I was in second, first grade.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 11 (14:30):
And I was very excited for my birthday the next day.
And I just remember walking through the halls telling all
the teachers and them wanting to be happy for me,
but understanding what was actually going on at that time
and knowing that I was clueless. And so the looks
on their faces were something that I'll never forget because
(14:50):
it was like I could tell that something serious was
going on, but they.
Speaker 9 (14:54):
Wouldn't tell me.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
And I remember.
Speaker 11 (14:56):
My dad picking me up very early from school that day.
Speaker 12 (14:58):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
You know, everyone has a different perspective about that day.
Speaker 14 (15:02):
You know what is crazy? I think, like, that my
kids were not here. Like, and I understand that that's
the norm for a lot of people. They weren't here.
You know, it happened a long time ago before they
were born. But in my head, I go, my kids
are learning about what I went through in a history book. Like,
or online or whatever, when they teach it in the class. Like,
they did not experience it. It's like, it's surreal to me.
Speaker 10 (15:25):
On the other side of that, we were... Watching it.
We were witnessing history right in front of us.
Speaker 7 (15:31):
Oh, there you go.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Well, it is 9-11.
Speaker 10 (15:33):
We are 25 years in, and we will, as we
do every year, have our moment of silence coming up
at 8-48?
Speaker 3 (15:38):
8-46 this morning.
Speaker 7 (15:41):
So there you go.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Let's get into the horoscopes. Who's doing these?
Speaker 13 (15:43):
The ladies.
Speaker 12 (15:44):
All the ladies.
Speaker 13 (15:45):
Let's go. All right.
Speaker 14 (15:47):
Taraji, Petey Henson, Ludacris, and Harry Connick Jr. all celebrating today. Virgo,
the thing you have been overthinking.
Speaker 7 (15:53):
Could we? Could we?
Speaker 14 (15:56):
Please shush that.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
You said Harry Connick Jr.
Speaker 12 (15:58):
Okay, go ahead.
Speaker 15 (15:59):
Sorry.
Speaker 13 (16:00):
All right.
Speaker 14 (16:00):
The thing you have been overthinking all week is not
as big as your brain has made it. Breathe.
Speaker 9 (16:05):
Move on.
Speaker 14 (16:06):
Your day's a six.
Speaker 8 (16:07):
Libra, the universe is lining things up for you in abundance.
This Friday feels like the beginning of something new. Your
day is a 10.
Speaker 14 (16:13):
All right, Scorpio, there is an undeniable pull between you
and someone else right now. And Friday is the day
it stops being subtle. That would be today.
Speaker 8 (16:22):
Your day is a nine. To my fellow Sagittarius, an
unexpected invite leads somewhere far more exciting than whatever we
originally had planned. Our day, a nine.
Speaker 14 (16:31):
Capricorn, keeping your composure this week when others lost theirs,
does not go unnoticed by the people who matter. Your
day's an eight.
Speaker 8 (16:38):
Aquarius, make sure the people who matter know where you stand.
Your unpredictability has been keeping them guessing. Your day's a seven.
Speaker 14 (16:45):
Hi Pisces, you see the best in someone right now,
but make sure what you're seeing is actually what is there.
Your day's an eight.
Speaker 8 (16:51):
Aries, not every day has to be full throttle. Your
body is asking for less today, and that is worth
listening to. Your day is a seven.
Speaker 14 (16:58):
Hey Taurus, the consistent work you have been putting in
quietly gets the recognition it deserves today. Your day is
a nine.
Speaker 8 (17:04):
Gemini, you go down an interesting rabbit hole today that
ends up being the most inspiring part of your entire week.
Your day is an eight.
Speaker 14 (17:10):
Cancer of the passive aggression is showing and people can
feel it. Just say what you mean and get it
over with. Your day is a five.
Speaker 8 (17:18):
And finally, Leo, save the dramatic energy for something that
actually deserves it. Yeah, talking to you, Duran. This situation
does not. Your day is a six. And those are
your Friday morning horoscopes.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Danielle, what do you have coming up?
Speaker 14 (17:32):
Jennifer Lawrence is finally on Instagram. And just because you
won an Oscar doesn't mean you're in the right place
in life.
Speaker 10 (17:42):
Born on America's darkest day of 9-11, the Tunnel to
Towers Foundation has been helping America's heroes ever since. Heroes
like Detective Victor Vargas. Victor dedicated his life to service.
He was a United States Air Force veteran who later
became a detective in New York City. After the 9-11 attacks,
Victor joined the search and recovery efforts at Ground Zero,
(18:02):
a totally selfless act that would later cost him his life.
In this, the 25th anniversary year of 9-11, we continue
to see the toll that day is taking on heroes
and their families. Victor fought pancreatic cancer with courage, and
he left behind his loving wife, Adriana, and their four kids.
And Tunnel to Towers honored Victor and his family by
paying off the Vargas family mortgage.
Speaker 7 (18:23):
Just paid it right off.
Speaker 10 (18:25):
You can help more families like the Vargas family through
Tunnel to Towers. and help bring hope and security to
all of those who've given everything for us. Donate $ 11
a month. It's simple to do at T2T. org. Even amplify
your impact with a car or land donation. Go to T2T. org.
That's T, the number two, T.org.
Speaker 9 (18:45):
Call us at 1-800-242-0100.
Speaker 18 (18:46):
Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
As the sun comes up over Manhattan, we're looking at
coverage of.
Speaker 10 (18:55):
The coverage at World Trade Center, where they're getting ready
for their 9-11 remembrance ceremonies later this morning. People are
already starting to mill around and want to be a
part of it. I don't blame them. All of our
living presidents, except for President Trump, will be there. President
Trump will be at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
It is 9-11.
Speaker 10 (19:13):
If you just woke up, you're like, oh, yeah, it is,
you know, 25 years in. And we will definitely have
our moment of silence coming up. We haven't chosen the song.
Speaker 13 (19:21):
You know.
Speaker 10 (19:22):
Every year, we do the moment of silence, and we
always push start and play a song. And it changes
every year, and then we'll go back to an old
one we've played before. We still haven't decided which song
we should play today.
Speaker 14 (19:34):
So maybe take suggestions from the listeners. Maybe there's a
song they know that we don't remember.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Or a song that just makes sense.
Speaker 8 (19:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Whatever.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Text us now at 55100 and let us know. Why
are you laughing?
Speaker 8 (19:45):
Because a fight erupted about this on the Sprinter van today.
In the Sprinter van on YouTube.
Speaker 12 (19:50):
Van, I should say.
Speaker 16 (19:52):
Hold on.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
We had a fight this morning about the song.
Speaker 7 (19:56):
It wasn't a fight.
Speaker 8 (19:57):
It was a fight.
Speaker 10 (19:59):
It was Nate being kind of an a-hole.
Speaker 19 (20:04):
You were a little.
Speaker 7 (20:06):
And it was a spirited debate.
Speaker 12 (20:08):
It was a spirit.
Speaker 8 (20:08):
No, someone was about to get slapped. I don't know who,
but somebody was.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
All I said.
Speaker 10 (20:13):
I can't believe you and I, sitting next to each
other on the plane yesterday, we got along so well,
and this morning you just crapped all over it.
Speaker 7 (20:18):
I just wanted to make sure of something, and that's it.
That is it.
Speaker 12 (20:25):
I can't.
Speaker 10 (20:26):
I'm stuck here. I'm chained to this studio until 10.
Speaker 16 (20:29):
It was like mom and dad arguing in the car,
and the rest of the kids were like.
Speaker 12 (20:34):
Don't say anything.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Don't say anything.
Speaker 8 (20:37):
I tried to interject a couple times just for funsies.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
And then I did three suggestions and you told me.
Speaker 12 (20:41):
To go back to sleep.
Speaker 8 (20:43):
Well, you like resurrected from the dead, said some words.
Speaker 10 (20:46):
Okay, so we're trying to come up with a song
to play after the moment of silence.
Speaker 18 (20:50):
Sure.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
And you want to play Fix You by Coldplay.
Speaker 7 (20:53):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Is that a song about alcoholism or something?
Speaker 8 (20:56):
Something like that.
Speaker 20 (20:57):
I also suggested One by U2 or See You Again
from Charlie Puth.
Speaker 7 (21:01):
Those are three very heartfelt songs.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
And if you read the lyrics, I think they make us.
Speaker 7 (21:05):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
I didn't tell you to go back to sleep.
Speaker 12 (21:07):
Someone did.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
God, he did.
Speaker 7 (21:09):
Well, he was nodding off. He was doing the nod.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Okay.
Speaker 10 (21:13):
Let's go back. Let's take the hands of time back
a little further. So we're all on the plane together.
Speaker 12 (21:18):
We had to fly to Miami.
Speaker 10 (21:19):
Yesterday, because we have something really, really great to do
this weekend with Norwegian. It includes a ship and a cocktail.
And you'll hear all about it soon. Anyway, so we
had to fly down. And no one wants to sit
next to me on the plane, ever. Because I like
to like... And if you dare try to fall asleep,
I will poke you.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
So Nate won the grand prize.
Speaker 7 (21:41):
Short straw.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
You won the grand prize. You got to sit next
to me.
Speaker 10 (21:44):
We had the best time together.
Speaker 7 (21:46):
We really did.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
We laughed and we cried. We hugged.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (21:50):
We cuddled.
Speaker 14 (21:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
We ate some bad United food.
Speaker 7 (21:54):
Yeah, it was pretty bad. It was bad. But we
had a good time. It was really good. You know,
we actually accomplished a few things.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
We did.
Speaker 16 (22:01):
You know, sometimes you've got to pin Elvis down because
he's like smoke.
Speaker 7 (22:05):
He just... It just goes away so quickly.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
I love to be pinned down.
Speaker 7 (22:10):
But we were able to figure some things out, so
I'm very happy.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
That was a good flight.
Speaker 16 (22:14):
We filmed Scary sleeping.
Speaker 7 (22:17):
Oh, that was good.
Speaker 10 (22:18):
Scary was doing that thing, and if you fly a lot,
you know, you fall asleep and your head falls forward
and you jerk it back up real quick.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
He was doing that.
Speaker 12 (22:26):
And I didn't know I was doing it.
Speaker 7 (22:27):
How do you not know?
Speaker 3 (22:27):
I don't know how you don't have lip gloss.
Speaker 12 (22:29):
I got filmed from four different angles.
Speaker 8 (22:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 20 (22:31):
I had Nate filming me, Gandhi from behind, and then
Elvis filming the behind the scenes version.
Speaker 14 (22:36):
And my favorite part was at one point he thought
it was time to eat. So he wakes up. He
pulls out his tray, and then he puts it back.
But it wasn't time to eat.
Speaker 8 (22:45):
And then he woke up, pulled out his tray, and
went back to sleep.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
He went back to sleep.
Speaker 10 (22:49):
He wanted to wake up just long enough to make
sure the tray was ready for his bad United food.
Speaker 7 (22:53):
I was like, oh, my God.
Speaker 19 (22:54):
Gandhi sends the video of him falling asleep from nine
angles and says, nobody post this.
Speaker 10 (23:00):
So anyway, all of today's work. We had a great
dinner last night. We'll get into that later.
Speaker 13 (23:05):
Yeah. Hmm.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
Nate had a cocktail or two last night.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Yeah, I did.
Speaker 13 (23:10):
Lord Almighty.
Speaker 7 (23:10):
I got a little loud. Yes, you did.
Speaker 13 (23:13):
A little loud.
Speaker 7 (23:14):
Anyway, so here we are. We're going to do our thing.
Speaker 8 (23:16):
So the song.
Speaker 10 (23:18):
Yeah, text us the song we should play after the
moment of silence.
Speaker 7 (23:22):
We're getting some things in here.
Speaker 8 (23:24):
And Fix You is about Gwyneth Paltrow's dad. Well, it's
about how sad she was after he passed away and
how Chris Martin wanted to fix her.
Speaker 7 (23:31):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Yeah, I don't know if it fits. It's a great song.
Don't get me wrong. Hey, let's get into the Danielle report.
Speaker 12 (23:37):
Oh, Danielle.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (23:38):
Let's go.
Speaker 9 (23:39):
All right.
Speaker 14 (23:39):
So Jennifer Lawrence has joined Instagram, which is a big
deal because for the longest time she was like, it
is not happening. But her first post is her talking
and saying, if you're not nice to me, I am leaving.
So please be nice.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
It's just a matter of time.
Speaker 9 (23:56):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7 (23:56):
Come on, guys.
Speaker 14 (23:57):
Be nice to her. Snoop Dogg will be hosting the
MTV VMAs, and this is a full circle moment for
Snoop because he has been obviously around for a while
and been involved with the VMAs before in other ways.
The Video Vanguard Award this year will go to Nirvana,
and the VMAs go down September 27th. So Andy Cohen
(24:17):
went to pick up his four-year-old Lucy from school, and
another student approached him and said, Are you her grandpa?
And he was like, yeah, no, I'm the dad. So
that happened. So back in 2003, Nicole Kidman won the
Oscar for The Hours. So she was on a podcast
(24:39):
the other day and she was talking about how. She
was so grateful, but she was so lonely at the time.
She said that she had gotten a divorce from Tom
Cruise in 2001. And that was when she realized she
really needed to do something else. She said she was
at a Vanity Fair party and she was carrying the
Oscar around with her. And she said it just was
(25:00):
so weird. It was a really strange feeling. And she
wishes if she could go back now, she could enjoy
it more. And, you know, she has a A movie
out today. If you have not seen it, make sure
you go and see it. Practical Magic 2. If you
haven't seen Practical Magic 1, see that first before you
see 2 because you'll like it even more and understand
(25:22):
it even more. Guys, yesterday I was not a happy
camper because I found out. And Juliet is closing on Broadway.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Well, you saw it 55 times.
Speaker 9 (25:32):
So here's the deal.
Speaker 14 (25:33):
It's closing January 3rd, and I'm thinking, well, I obviously
need to be there for the final night. But if
I do a week leading up and I go every
single night for a week, will that be enough?
Speaker 9 (25:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 14 (25:44):
You know it's one of my favorite shows in the world.
All the songs from Max Martin, Backstreet, NSYNC, Britney, Katy Perry,
Demi Lovato. If you've never seen it, you've got to
go see it. It is so fantastic. And I already
am finding out if I can own a piece of
the set or a prop or something from the show
because it was a big part of my life actually.
(26:05):
It should be a cameo. Well, I am doing a
fan night with them coming up very soon. Details coming.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
So we are going to be doing something with them.
You should steal Joey Fatone.
Speaker 14 (26:16):
I'm going to take him home with me. Yeah, I'm
going to take him home with me. So this is interesting.
This is some 9-11 news. So at the memorial site
in New York City, there are sometimes white roses.
Speaker 13 (26:27):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Okay.
Speaker 14 (26:28):
And a lot of people don't understand why. They're like, well,
I don't understand. Why do certain people have white roses?
Speaker 3 (26:33):
They're put on the different names that are on the plaques.
Speaker 9 (26:35):
Exactly.
Speaker 14 (26:36):
Well, there is an emergency medical technician. His name is Michael,
and he was a first responder. But he owns a
florist shop called Floret down in the city. And each day,
a delivery of white roses comes to the memorial site
for the birthdays. So if someone who passed away is
on that plaque, they will have a white rose on
(26:56):
their birthday.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
Now you know.
Speaker 14 (26:57):
How special is that? There's 3,000 names there, guys. And
he does this every single day. So my gosh, so crazy.
What are we watching? Well, there is a lot of
9-11 stuff. Everywhere you look, there's a special. So there
is something for everyone if you want to watch that.
Sunday Night Football this weekend gives you the Giants and
the Cowboys. Donnie Wahlberg will host the best of the VMAs. And,
(27:19):
of course, if you go to the theaters, Practical Magic
2 is there. And also there's a movie.
Speaker 7 (27:22):
Called Don't Move.
Speaker 14 (27:23):
Our friend from Impractical Jokers, Murr, this is actually based
on his novel. It's about a spider that terrifies people.
There's like a stranded bunch of campers. They wander into
the wrong campsite. And, of course, they come in contact
with this prehistoric spider. So you may want to go
see that. It's called Don't Move, and that is my
(27:44):
Danielle report.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Okay, so you're talking about all the shows, the 9-11 documentaries.
Speaker 9 (27:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
There is one that I find so fascinating.
Speaker 10 (27:52):
It was a day in the life of President Bush,
the day of 9-11, from the very beginning of his
day to the very end of his day. There may
be several. The one I got, I think it's either
War Room or Turning Point, the 9-11 war on terror documentary.
And it's the most fascinating documentary I've ever seen. Because
(28:15):
to be the president of the United States during a
day like that, to tell that story as well as
they did in this documentary is fantastic.
Speaker 14 (28:26):
When you get elected, you think like, yeah, there's going
to be a lot of stuff that's going to happen.
But that's something you never probably in your wildest dreams
think you have to deal with.
Speaker 19 (28:34):
And he was in Florida. He was in Florida when
it happened. He was reading to an elementary school class.
Speaker 5 (28:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (28:41):
The whole day, though. He was on a plane. They
couldn't land the plane because they had to keep the
president in the air. He didn't know where his wife was.
They were in D.C., I think.
Speaker 7 (28:51):
What's that name?
Speaker 16 (28:51):
I saw it based on your recommendation, and it's like
you said, right? Because that day, you only see the
two or three pictures of President Bush.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Right.
Speaker 16 (28:59):
And you don't know everything that went on behind the scenes.
It's insane. It's so interesting to see because we only
know the very superficial vision of it.
Speaker 7 (29:08):
He wanted to.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
he wanted them to fly him back to DC because
he wanted to see his wife.
Speaker 14 (29:13):
Yeah, of course.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
And they said, sorry, we can't take you.
Speaker 10 (29:17):
And you could see him have this conversation several times
during the day. And finally he looked at them and said,
you're taking me home right now.
Speaker 14 (29:26):
Wow.
Speaker 10 (29:27):
And he, they had, they had to follow his orders,
but it was just, Oh, one of the many documentaries.
I mean, it's just an interesting, an interesting view that
we'll thank God never have to see because we're, no
one's going to elect us president.
Speaker 14 (29:41):
No, that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
No way.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
I mean, almost anyone can get it if you try.
But I don't know.
Speaker 13 (29:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (29:48):
Anyway.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Hey, I don't want to play a game.
Speaker 7 (29:52):
Today or anything.
Speaker 8 (29:52):
I don't have a game today.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
Good.
Speaker 13 (29:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (29:54):
Because we're not playing one.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
Not doing a game today.
Speaker 8 (29:57):
Unless we want to do like a family feud or
a password of some sort.
Speaker 7 (30:01):
We argued enough on the plane. Or in the sprinter van.
I don't think we need to argue anymore in here.
Speaker 14 (30:06):
Why is it called a sprinter van?
Speaker 7 (30:08):
The name of it.
Speaker 8 (30:08):
I asked that yesterday and got yelled at about it.
Speaker 12 (30:10):
We don't know.
Speaker 7 (30:12):
Why don't you Google it, Danielle?
Speaker 14 (30:14):
I could go to Google, but I think it's more
interesting if we.
Speaker 7 (30:17):
Discuss it in the room.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
You'd rather them just yell at you.
Speaker 9 (30:19):
Exactly.
Speaker 7 (30:20):
Google it.
Speaker 8 (30:20):
The answer I got was, how would I know? I
didn't name it.
Speaker 7 (30:23):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 12 (30:26):
Oh, Lord, there it is.
Speaker 8 (30:27):
Waking up in the morning.
Speaker 13 (30:28):
Right now.
Speaker 18 (30:29):
Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. Elvis Duran and the
Morning Show.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Hey, how did you sleep at the Diplomat Hotel last night?
Speaker 9 (30:42):
Like a baby.
Speaker 14 (30:43):
Yeah, that was amazing.
Speaker 10 (30:44):
That magic. See, sleep's like a baby. Babies don't sleep.
Speaker 8 (30:49):
I slept like Scary.
Speaker 12 (30:50):
Oh, yeah, okay.
Speaker 10 (30:52):
Anyway, the Diplomat is now officially called Signia by Hilton
Diplomat Beach Resort. I remember when we first signed on
on Y100 here in Miami, we lived there during the winter.
I'm like, I better go down and make sure our
affiliate in Miami is doing well as it was snowing
in New York.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
And the first time I met Froggy was at the
Diplomat Hotel.
Speaker 12 (31:13):
Remember that?
Speaker 7 (31:14):
I was in that lobby the very first time I
ever met you. I remember that. I remember you walking
off the elevator.
Speaker 19 (31:19):
I knew of you, but I'd never met you in person.
And I'm like, well, there's Elvis Duran.
Speaker 7 (31:23):
That's him. And that was the very first time I
ever met you.
Speaker 19 (31:26):
When I walked in that lobby yesterday, I had that
feeling again, like this is where I met Elvis.
Speaker 7 (31:30):
Yeah, that's it.
Speaker 10 (31:31):
I tell you what, the people at the Diplomat could
not have been nicer. Katie was at the door when
we walked in.
Speaker 14 (31:36):
Yeah, so sweet.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
And Emma, Sydney, thank you so much.
Speaker 10 (31:42):
The marketing team there at the Signia by Hilton Diplomat
Beach Resort.
Speaker 7 (31:46):
We love you. Thank you so much.
Speaker 14 (31:48):
When I walked into the room, I recorded myself, and
it's legit my reaction. And I go, holy macaroni.
Speaker 7 (31:57):
I thought they gave me the wrong room. I thought
they gave me Elvis' room. I'm like, oh, there's a problem.
The pumpkin bedino at the Diplomat Prime, the steakhouse.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
That's the name of a stripper, isn't it?
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
It's the dessert that we had. Oh, pumpkin bedino.
Speaker 7 (32:11):
That was great. But then we go back to our rooms,
and they had the chocolate microphone.
Speaker 6 (32:14):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 7 (32:15):
That they made for us.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
That sounds like a euphemism of some sort. You know
what I'm talking about. So nice of them. Anyway, the diplomat,
we love you.
Speaker 10 (32:24):
When you're coming down or if you're here and need
a staycation, you got to go to the diplomat right
there in Hollywood on the beach. I actually slept with
the window of the door open so I could hear
the crash of the waves.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
It was nice. So you're wondering why we're down here.
Speaker 10 (32:37):
We are doing something with our best friends at Norwegian
Cruise Lines. We were doing a special assignment, so we
had to come down and be in place today to
be on a ship to go to an island.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
That's all I can tell you. That's it.
Speaker 10 (32:50):
I will say this. Not being in New York City
for 9-11 is really odd. 25th anniversary or not, it's just, I.
Speaker 13 (33:03):
Don't know.
Speaker 10 (33:04):
My apartment's not far from World Trade Center, so every
year we'd get off the air. I'd run home and
feed the dog, and then I'd take a walk.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
It's right there.
Speaker 10 (33:12):
And we're not there to walk down there today. I
feel like it should be there. So text us now
if you're there. Let us know how you're feeling. Text
us at 55100. Again, like I said earlier, and I'll
say it several times, a lot of people this day,
even 25 years later, it's a very painful day. And
(33:32):
if you don't want to hear our craziness, please, we'll
be back Monday. You can come back and see us then.
Just do your quiet day today.
Speaker 7 (33:40):
I love it when.
Speaker 10 (33:41):
We're in the business where we're supposed to have people
listen and beg you to listen to us.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
I'm telling you to turn it off.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Get out of here.
Speaker 10 (33:47):
Just turn us off if we're not what you need.
We will have our moment of silence later. We'll have
some people calling in if we find some people on
the phones that want to talk about what they're doing.
Let's talk about how the world has changed in these
past 25 years.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
I will tell you this.
Speaker 10 (34:02):
In the days following 9-11, we had just a rainbow
of different emotions, right?
Speaker 14 (34:08):
Absolutely.
Speaker 7 (34:09):
All over the spectrum.
Speaker 10 (34:12):
And of course it landed on a pretty incredible, powerful emotion,
the emotion of pride for our country. Where you couldn't
find an overpass over a highway in our area anyway
that didn't have an American flag, United States flag right there.
And some of them are still tattered and torn and
still there today. There's one by my house that's still there.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
And then, you know what?
Speaker 3 (34:34):
I remember the first time on our show that someone
actually laughed.
Speaker 7 (34:37):
Do you remember that?
Speaker 19 (34:38):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
That was how many days after 9-11?
Speaker 14 (34:41):
It was a while because I wasn't even doing the
entertainment report, nothing. We were like, we just didn't feel
like it was appropriate. Is that the right word?
Speaker 3 (34:50):
We called it the sleaze report.
Speaker 14 (34:51):
Yes, we did. And that was definitely not appropriate.
Speaker 10 (34:54):
And then one day, someone in the room said something
funny and someone laughed. And it was the most foreign
sound because we realized we had not laughed, especially on
the air, in four or five days.
Speaker 8 (35:08):
Do you guys remember what it was?
Speaker 12 (35:09):
No, no.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
I'm sure of something I said, cause I'm hilarious.
Speaker 14 (35:13):
I only remember the kindness that came out of people
after that. And if somebody needed something at ground zero,
like our listeners would get it to them.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 14 (35:21):
You know, you open the door for people, you met,
you checked on people, you made sure everybody was okay.
And like, like that, we need, we need more of
that now.
Speaker 10 (35:28):
Tell you what, speaking of being, uh, right across the
river with the ferries just below our building, right across
the river from ground zero, uh, My superhero was Scotty B.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
He's eating something.
Speaker 12 (35:42):
What are you eating?
Speaker 7 (35:43):
A banana where we're talking about the serious stuff.
Speaker 20 (35:44):
Sorry.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
It's a bagel.
Speaker 9 (35:46):
Okay.
Speaker 10 (35:47):
Um, Scotty B was so emotionally tied to all the
events going on downtown. He said, look, do you mind
if I not do anything here at the station today?
I'm going to go downstairs and help load the boats,
the ferries to go over to ground zero.
Speaker 7 (36:02):
They needed supplies. Remember that? I do.
Speaker 15 (36:04):
A bunch of us went downstairs. Cause you know, like
Danielle was saying, Um, I remember it was Lieutenant Loof
from the Jersey city police department and he would stay
in contact with us. And every time they found out
that they needed something, they would call us and we'd
put it out over the air. People would bring it
down to the pier and then it would get sent over.
And then on the 12th, um, they put myself and
(36:24):
our friend Darren Pfeffer on one of the boats. They
gave us a hard hat and masks and gloves, and
they sent us over with piles of Home Depot orange buckets.
And we walked from the pier to the pile and
gave them to all the first responders that were there
digging through the rubble. And I'll never forget it. I
will never forget it. It is just seared in my mind.
(36:44):
I mean, it was crazy. It really was. But I'm
so glad that we got to do our tiny little
part to help. We were there for days doing that.
People were coming down and cooking and Bringing food. You know,
I really wish there was a... It's too bad there's
not a documentary on that. Like, that pier in Jersey City,
I don't think ever got any recognition. There was so
(37:05):
much going on there, back and forth, back and forth,
because of its proximity. And just so many people came
to help, and it was just remarkable.
Speaker 14 (37:12):
And so many restaurants, remember, set up like... Well, hold on.
Speaker 10 (37:15):
That was my story. We were sitting there, Danielle. And
all of a sudden we saw smoke outside. I'm like, oh,
dear God, what's going on? And it was just below
our windows at the pier.
Speaker 6 (37:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
It was the grills from Outback. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (37:28):
They were grilling food for all the responders and for
the Scotty B's, you know.
Speaker 11 (37:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Crazy.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
But I always wondered, like, wondered, was it God? Was
it the universe?
Speaker 10 (37:40):
How was it that we ended up broadcasting right there?
We watched the whole thing unfold. We were watching history unfold.
A lot of people around New York City saw it
happen because the downtown area, Gandhi, as you know it,
it's like theater in the round. I mean, you've got Queens,
you've got Brooklyn, you've got Staten Island, you've got Bayonne,
you've got Jersey City. We were all watching it because
(38:02):
you could reach out and touch it almost. And how
we ended up there and Scotty B downstairs on the boats.
Speaker 7 (38:11):
It was just an interesting observation.
Speaker 10 (38:14):
Every moment anyway so here we are 25 years later
my question originally was how has the world changed well
it changed for actually all the better for a while
and then it seems in my opinion to be slipping
straight to hell on this slippery slope in so many
different ways so if you can find and find a
way in your heart and in your day just to
(38:37):
try to make people feel good you know yes what's
this i've been handed a note it's a question This
is a question from Straight Nate. Were it not for
this event, would you be the person you are today?
Speaker 13 (38:51):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Great question.
Speaker 14 (38:52):
Good question.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
I would like to think about that. Do you guys
think about that?
Speaker 14 (38:55):
Yeah, we've got to think about it.
Speaker 10 (38:56):
And you can text us your thoughts. If it weren't
for what happened 25 years ago today, how would you
be different? Would you be the same person? Maybe in
some regards.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Maybe.
Speaker 12 (39:06):
Maybe not.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 13 (39:09):
All right.
Speaker 7 (39:10):
We should take a break, I guess.
Speaker 13 (39:12):
Anyway.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Thank you for listening to us.
Speaker 10 (39:13):
And whatever you do today, stop down and if it's
a moment of silence on your own or just a prayer,
or just go out for a walk and look at
the things that nature gives us that we can look
at every day so we can detour and we can
take a breath and whatever.
Speaker 19 (39:30):
Take a second and do something nice for someone today.
Even something as simple as holding a door, saying hello,
just doing something nice.
Speaker 14 (39:35):
Buying someone a coffee.
Speaker 7 (39:35):
Yeah, something nice for someone today. Make their day better.
Speaker 12 (39:38):
Nate, come give me a massage. Okay.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
Okay, thank you.
Speaker 18 (39:41):
Behind the Magic, the official Disney on Broadway podcast, hosted
by Danielle.
Speaker 14 (39:47):
So let's talk about the magic carpet.
Speaker 18 (39:49):
Open your free iHeartRadio app, search for Behind the Magic,
and listen today. Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. Elvis
Duran and the Morning Show.
Speaker 7 (39:58):
So the questions.
Speaker 10 (40:00):
include this one how would you be different well how
would life be different today if what happened 25 years ago.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
Didn't happen on 9-11 that would be very different.
Speaker 10 (40:11):
People are texting in sitting in my english class senior
year september 11 2001 our whole class was glued to
tv it was one of those moments that i decided
right then and there i wanted to go into broadcast
journalism and become a news reporter so i could be
live on the scene for moments like that wow Because
of the college I went to, I went to Hofstra University,
(40:32):
I met my husband, and my life has ever changed,
forever changed because of that decision I made because of
the actions of 9-11. Another text, I was a school
bus driver in the morning of 9-11. I was driving children, kindergarten,
to school and wondering today if they remember that day.
We should definitely teach them to never forget. Line four
(40:53):
is Alyssa, a teacher. And I wonder how teachers are
teaching the events of 9-11.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
Alyssa, fill us in. Are you a history teacher? What
do you teach?
Speaker 9 (41:06):
Hi, guys.
Speaker 13 (41:07):
Good morning. Good morning. I listened to you guys literally
before 9-11, all of those years. I've grown up listening,
and I felt that I needed to call in or
try to call in. I am a fifth-grade special ed
teacher in New York City Public Schools. Um, I was,
(41:28):
I was actually in sixth grade when it happened. Um,
so it was really emotional this morning. And right now,
just even thinking about it, like I have to explain
this to my children, um, today, because believe it or not,
you know, I think these kids know what happened, but
they don't understand the severity of how, what truly what happened,
(41:52):
but also how it affected New York city in this country. Um,
And you don't want to scare them, but it's true.
And it's not like they can't see videos and things,
but it's a delicate balance of how do I explain
my experience, what happened to the community right around us.
And I definitely struggle with it every year, but this
(42:13):
year is weird because they're in the exact same place
that I was in.
Speaker 7 (42:17):
Wow.
Speaker 10 (42:19):
That's got to be quite the challenge for you. You
know what I'm loving about you and your voice and
your call, Alyssa, is, yeah, you know, these kids are
going to see videos and with no context whatsoever.
Speaker 14 (42:31):
Right.
Speaker 3 (42:32):
It's up to you to be there to go, OK,
this is how you need to think about this.
Speaker 10 (42:38):
And you're the filter. This info has to go through
your filter to make it. make it make sense to them.
Speaker 14 (42:45):
I feel like you need to start with exactly what
you said to the fact that I was exactly where
you are. I was the age that you guys are
when this all happened. So I understand it's confusing and
I understand, you know, how you're feeling.
Speaker 8 (42:58):
I was actually talking to somebody recently who was saying
that it's very tricky for them to teach about this
right now. So they kind of just touch on it
quickly and then move on. And they try as the
kids are getting older to do more of, But there
are a lot of things that apparently they're not allowed
to answer.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
So from a political side?
Speaker 13 (43:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (43:19):
So it's very tough for them as well as being teachers.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
So what words do you... Alyssa, what do you say?
The bad guys?
Speaker 12 (43:26):
I mean, how do you.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
How do you tell the story?
Speaker 13 (43:30):
Yeah, it's a very delicate balance because you can use
a word, you know, we'll use like a foreign enemy
or something like that. But... It's really, I try and
talk about how it was a very, a bad decision
(43:50):
that was made by people that did not like the
United States at that point. And, and again, I don't,
it's so hard and every year it sort of changes,
but it's so hard because you don't want to scare
these children, but you have to teach them. Like, like
you said, you can't, we, we will never forget this. And,
(44:12):
being that we lived through it, I have to teach
it to them. But, um, Gandhi is right. It's like, we,
we have to touch on it, but we also still
have to teach it. It's a weird combination. And I
kind of let the children ask the questions and lead
the discussion after I put it out what it is,
(44:33):
because this way I can navigate it a little bit
more like what's in their mind. Um, And just show
the connection like it's around the corner. I mean, I
teach in Queens. We can literally see the New York
City skyline from our classroom. So, you know, I'm nervous
to have the discussion 25 years later, especially being right
(44:54):
where they are and in the same seat that they
were basically in. But I feel confident about it.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
Alyssa, you have no reason to be nervous at all.
It sounds like you've got it together. Very much so.
And this is why we love our teachers, people.
Speaker 13 (45:09):
This is why.
Speaker 10 (45:10):
And you know what, Alyssa, we just had a text
from a fourth grade teacher. She says what I like
to do, it's the same thing that Mr. Rogers told
us to do, is we'll focus on the helpers as well,
you know. That's a great lesson to be learned there. Alyssa,
you are a superstar. And I love that you're listening
to us. And you go in there and you do
what you got to do. And I'm so grateful that
you are the one or one of many who are
(45:31):
in there doing it today.
Speaker 7 (45:32):
Thank you, Alyssa.
Speaker 13 (45:34):
Thank you guys so much.
Speaker 7 (45:36):
Have a good day, okay?
Speaker 8 (45:38):
Gosh, that'd be so tough.
Speaker 3 (45:40):
Text message.
Speaker 10 (45:41):
I was listening to you on Z100 that morning. This
is how I found out what was happening.
Speaker 8 (45:48):
I wonder how many people had that experience that you
guys were the ones that broke that.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
News to them.
Speaker 1 (45:54):
Many.
Speaker 9 (45:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
I mean, I still hear it today, 25 years later.
Speaker 14 (45:58):
And we didn't even know what it was at first.
Speaker 5 (46:00):
No.
Speaker 14 (46:00):
We turned on the news station because we thought it
was pilot error. That's what everybody thought at first.
Speaker 3 (46:06):
We were told it was a helicopter.
Speaker 13 (46:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (46:07):
Tim Louie, our phone op, he's like, oh, it's a helicopter.
Speaker 7 (46:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (46:10):
It was a helicopter. Then I think it was a
small plane. They said it was like a little small plane.
It wasn't a big. And then they found out more
and more. When we saw that second plane hit, we
knew exactly what was going on. Anyway, this texture continues
to say you are the ones that gave me this news.
Speaker 10 (46:24):
And, God, this text message. Their texts are going so fast,
I can't keep up with them. I teach about September
11th every year because these kids are in the gap
between when it's in the history books and when it
matters to tell them. I'm not a history teacher, but
I think it's really important that they know the events
exactly how it played out.
Speaker 7 (46:43):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Third grade teacher here texting in from Orlando, about to
teach about 9-11 today. So, how many people, I wonder.
Speaker 10 (46:54):
actually went into the military or went to work for
the police department or FDNY or the fire departments because of, yeah,
you helped me really.
Speaker 8 (47:01):
Yeah, absolutely. It was, I mean, you're in early high
school and then that's your, wow, I'm never going to
let this happen. And people definitely did that.
Speaker 9 (47:07):
It's crazy.
Speaker 13 (47:09):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (47:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (47:10):
Well, so thank you for listening today. And, uh, you know,
Sometimes we got to put the fart jokes on hold.
Speaker 6 (47:17):
Right.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
But I feel one coming on.
Speaker 15 (47:18):
Oh, boy.
Speaker 7 (47:19):
A fart or a joke? I'm not telling.
Speaker 4 (47:24):
Oh, God.
Speaker 10 (47:24):
You got to figure it out on your own. Anyway,
three things we need to know. I don't even know
what time it is.
Speaker 8 (47:33):
Okay.
Speaker 10 (47:34):
We are in a studio at Y100. 7 in Miami. We
have no windows looking outside. And so I have to
walk out there and... And look out the window to see.
Speaker 3 (47:45):
If it's day or night.
Speaker 6 (47:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (47:47):
And in our studios, we have clocks all over the place,
like big digital clocks counting down, counting up.
Speaker 6 (47:51):
So we know.
Speaker 13 (47:52):
Huh.
Speaker 7 (47:53):
Interesting.
Speaker 10 (47:54):
All right.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
All right.
Speaker 3 (47:55):
What's going on?
Speaker 8 (47:55):
Well, this year's 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony in Lower Manhattan will
include a new moment of silence and bell toll on
what will be the 25th anniversary of the terror attacks.
In the past, there have been six moments of silence
during the ceremony, but 9-11 memorial and museum officials say
there will be an extra one to honor the service
and sacrifice for all those people who have since passed
away of 9-11-related health effects. That will happen after the
(48:18):
reading of the names of the victims. Tens of thousands
of first responders, construction workers, and others have become ill
with cancer and other health issues. Many have died. Vice
President J.D. Vance, former Presidents Biden, Obama, George W. Bush,
Bill Clinton, and New York City Mayor Zoram Mamdani... will
all attend the 9-11 commemoration at Ground Zero in New
York City today. A federal court is rejecting President Trump's
(48:43):
bid to impose restrictions on mail-in voting before November's midterm elections.
In a blow to the president's attempted crackdown on mail-in voting,
a Boston-based court of appeals decided to prevent the U.S.
Postal Service from tightening rules around postal voting. And finally,
California lawmakers have approved a first-in-the-nation bill to help shoppers
(49:03):
easily spot healthier food options. The bill would create a
non-ultra-processed certified seal for foods that are not considered ultra-processed,
similar to the USDA organic label. Grocery stores in California
would be required to highlight products with that seal. Last year,
California also became the first state I love over-processed food.
I mean, it's delicious, but we're all dying. Why is
everyone so negative? Yeah, I guess, you know, cancer schmancer.
Speaker 9 (49:15):
Who cares?
Speaker 6 (49:15):
I know.
Speaker 8 (49:15):
The bill will now go to Governor Newsom, who has
until September 30th to sign it into law or veto it.
(49:39):
And the majority of people think this one's going through.
And those are your three things.
Speaker 10 (49:43):
Text, I was listening to Z100 on 9-11 at work.
And I heard it from you.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
The whole thing.
Speaker 10 (49:50):
By the way, don't blame all this stuff on us.
We just reported what we saw.
Speaker 8 (49:53):
Oh, I thought it was your fault.
Speaker 10 (49:54):
And someone said there's a documentary on HBO that is
great for kids to watch.
Speaker 3 (49:58):
And they said my voice.
Speaker 7 (49:59):
Is in it somewhere.
Speaker 13 (50:00):
Oh, what is it?
Speaker 5 (50:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (50:02):
Okay.
Speaker 12 (50:02):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (50:03):
Just do a search for Elvis Duran's voice, HBO.
Speaker 12 (50:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (50:07):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (50:08):
We are taking a break. Thank God you're here. You
can text us. I'm telling you right now, we have
so many texts going through, as I said before, they're rolling.
It's hard to keep up with them. We're doing our best,
but we love hearing from you.
Speaker 9 (50:18):
And when you wake up, wake up to Elvis Duran
and the Morning Show.
Speaker 18 (50:28):
Don't answer the phone, Elvis Duran. The Elvis Duran phone tap.
Speaker 3 (50:34):
Oh, I love this phone tap.
Speaker 10 (50:36):
My aunt and great aunt both get frantic over every
little thing, especially when telemarketers call and interrupt their day.
In fact, my great aunt barely speaks any English, but
she loves to chat. Get frustrated. This is from Sabrina.
(50:57):
Sabrina is phone tapping her aunt and great aunt. She's
phone tapping them. And scary as Mr. Michael Oppenheimer is
our resident relentless telemarketer, as you know. Sabrina's aunt and
great aunt both being phone tapped.
Speaker 7 (51:08):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (51:11):
Hello?
Speaker 12 (51:12):
Yes, good afternoon. This is Mr. Michael Oppenheimer from iRobot.com.
How are you doing today, miss?
Speaker 4 (51:18):
Okay, hi.
Speaker 12 (51:19):
We have a beautiful product here called the Roomba. It
is a robot which cleans the house for you.
Speaker 7 (51:25):
Yeah, I saw the commercials, but I'm not interested.
Speaker 17 (51:27):
For just $ 229.
Speaker 12 (51:27):
99.
Speaker 11 (51:27):
No, thank you.
Speaker 12 (51:27):
I could send you some literature on this.
Speaker 2 (51:36):
Hello?
Speaker 7 (51:37):
This is Mr.
Speaker 12 (51:37):
Michael Oppenheimer with Roomba.
Speaker 4 (51:39):
Again, you just called!
Speaker 12 (51:41):
I didn't tell you.
Speaker 4 (51:41):
I wasn't interested.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
I'm not interested.
Speaker 4 (51:43):
I'm in a rush going out.
Speaker 7 (51:45):
I have to go because someone's waiting for me.
Speaker 12 (51:47):
We also have available the Scuba, which is the world's
first robotic floor washer.
Speaker 9 (51:52):
I cannot afford it right now.
Speaker 4 (51:53):
I cannot afford it.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
I don't want it.
Speaker 7 (51:55):
I'm not interested.
Speaker 12 (51:56):
With the sidekick, the scuba, you'll never have to wash
your floors again.
Speaker 14 (52:00):
Is this a real person or is it like, are
you a machine or are you a real person?
Speaker 12 (52:04):
No, I'm real. The iRobot is the machine.
Speaker 4 (52:06):
Are we kidding? Are you kidding me?
Speaker 12 (52:08):
No, I'm for real.
Speaker 4 (52:09):
I don't want it.
Speaker 14 (52:09):
I'm hanging up.
Speaker 4 (52:10):
Please do not call me.
Speaker 7 (52:11):
I'm at the door right now.
Speaker 2 (52:13):
Okay, now you.
Speaker 8 (52:13):
All right, I gotta go.
Speaker 12 (52:14):
You do understand, though.
Speaker 4 (52:18):
Hello?
Speaker 6 (52:19):
Oh, yes.
Speaker 12 (52:20):
Good afternoon. This is Mr. Michael Oppenheimer from iRobot.com.
Speaker 4 (52:23):
How's everything?
Speaker 12 (52:27):
Would you like the iRobot? I'd like to send one
to your house.
Speaker 4 (52:32):
I'm sorry, the police?
Speaker 12 (52:40):
The police cannot.
The police will not clean your floor the way the
Roomba does, miss. We'd like to send you one.
Speaker 4 (52:49):
Do you need.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Do you know.
Speaker 4 (52:51):
How to clean the floors?
Speaker 13 (52:52):
Ooh.
Speaker 9 (52:59):
Hello?
Speaker 12 (53:00):
Oh, yes, Captain.
Speaker 14 (53:00):
You're telling me I'm going to call the cops, okay?
Speaker 4 (53:03):
This is ridiculous. My grandma, she got worried now. She
came to get me outside. I was about to go
out the door.
Speaker 7 (53:09):
She's old, okay?
Speaker 15 (53:09):
If she hears something, I'm going to start a thing.
Speaker 12 (53:14):
Maybe that means she can't do a lot of cleaning
and she'd like the Roomba to do it for her.
Speaker 4 (53:18):
No, she don't want the Roomba. She don't even have
any carpet over here.
Speaker 2 (53:20):
She has tiles.
Speaker 12 (53:21):
Well, that's perfect because of these sides.
Speaker 7 (53:23):
No, I don't want it.
Speaker 4 (53:23):
If you don't stop calling me, I'm going to call
the cops.
Speaker 12 (53:25):
The scuba.
Speaker 4 (53:26):
I don't want it.
Speaker 12 (53:27):
The scuba sidekick will do. It will clean.
Speaker 4 (53:33):
I'm killing this Roomba.
Speaker 12 (53:35):
Yes, the Roomba.
Speaker 4 (53:36):
Oh, Santa Maria. I'm going to come there and beat
the crap out of you.
Speaker 12 (53:41):
It sounds like you have an elderly person in the house.
Maybe they can't see as well as they used to.
Speaker 4 (53:45):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 8 (53:46):
You're so annoying.
Speaker 20 (53:47):
I'm on.
Speaker 4 (53:48):
What the hell's wrong with you?
Speaker 12 (53:50):
Can I speak with your.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
No, you can't speak to nobody. Don't call me back.
You made me miss my appointment. You called 50 times. I.
Speaker 12 (53:58):
You know, the iRobot was named Time Magazine's... Whatever.
Speaker 4 (54:00):
I really don't give a... In his.
Speaker 12 (54:05):
Name, Time Magazine's most amazing invention of 2005.
Speaker 4 (54:07):
Do you know that I do not care?
Speaker 5 (54:17):
Oh, we'd like to send you one of these. What
don't you understand, miss? It removes dirt out of virtually
every crevice. It glides back and forth across your floor
for hours.
Speaker 7 (54:34):
Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 12 (54:36):
It makes spaghetti.
Speaker 4 (54:37):
No, me, me, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 12 (54:40):
For 150 lire, I will give you.
Speaker 7 (54:42):
No way! A Roomba robot.
Speaker 4 (54:43):
No way!
Speaker 12 (54:44):
Yes, Italiano.
Speaker 4 (54:45):
Make me clean, no way!
Speaker 12 (54:47):
No interest financing.
Speaker 4 (54:48):
No! Okay, can I call in the police, okay? Oh, no,
I don't... Meet me sick! Meet sick! Meet sick! And awaken!
Speaker 1 (54:57):
Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 4 (54:59):
No, no, no!
Speaker 12 (55:00):
I won't send it. Okay. But I must tell you,
you've been phone tapped.
Speaker 4 (55:04):
I'm going to kill you.
Speaker 16 (55:06):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (55:06):
This is Scary Jones.
Speaker 4 (55:07):
I'm scared.
Speaker 5 (55:08):
No.
Speaker 4 (55:08):
Me now got to go back. Me, me have to. Me,
me have to. No.
Speaker 13 (55:16):
No.
Speaker 16 (55:17):
What?
Speaker 4 (55:18):
Okay. She's like, she had a heart attack.
Speaker 19 (55:21):
No, you give her a heart attack.
Speaker 9 (55:23):
The Elvis Duran phone tap.
Speaker 15 (55:26):
This phone tap was pre-recorded with permission granted by all participants.
Speaker 18 (55:30):
The Elvis Duran phone tap. Only on Elvis Duran and
the Morning Show.
Speaker 3 (55:37):
America's heroes need your help now.
Speaker 10 (55:39):
Do good in their honor by donating $ 11 a month
to Tunnel to Towers. And amplify your impact with a
car or land donation as well. Go to T2T. org. That's T,
the number two, T.org.
Speaker 6 (55:54):
Oh, thank you, man.
Speaker 1 (55:55):
I appreciate that. I love that.
Speaker 4 (56:16):
Hello, lady.
Speaker 14 (56:19):
Hello, lady.
Speaker 12 (56:21):
Daddy loves you.
Speaker 7 (56:22):
You guys ready for your day?
Speaker 18 (56:30):
Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.
Speaker 10 (56:34):
It is such an honor to be here doing this
with you guys and with everyone listening today. You know,
25 years after that day that we all witnessed right
in front of us, as you witnessed wherever you were
on this globe, we're still here to talk about it.
Speaker 3 (56:50):
And whether we're better for it or worse for it,
we're here.
Speaker 5 (56:54):
We are.
Speaker 10 (56:55):
But as I said, and I had goosebumps with Whitney
Houston again when we played her version of Star Spangled Banner.
It is truly an honor to be able to be
here and to open open the lines and be able
to talk to you. You can text us if you
want at 55100 or call us at 800-242-0100. Because you
know who's.
Speaker 7 (57:12):
Answering the phone?
Speaker 1 (57:13):
Diamond.
Speaker 7 (57:13):
Diamond! Oh, Diamond, where are you?
Speaker 12 (57:16):
Is she in there?
Speaker 7 (57:17):
Oh, Diamond.
Speaker 3 (57:18):
How are the phone calls today? Are you talking to.
Speaker 7 (57:21):
Some of our friends?
Speaker 12 (57:21):
What's going on?
Speaker 13 (57:22):
Yes.
Speaker 11 (57:22):
So a lot of listeners, a lot of people are
like rushing into work. So they aren't able to like
stay on the phone or hold or whatever to get.
Speaker 9 (57:31):
On the air.
Speaker 11 (57:31):
But I've had a few really good conversations. There was
a teacher named Danny.
Speaker 8 (57:36):
Who I spoke with.
Speaker 11 (57:38):
Unfortunately, she's going into work right now, but she was
the sweetest. And she was talking about the fact that
she never learned about Vietnam when she was younger. It
happened around the time that she was in elementary school.
So she makes it a point to teach her students
about 9-11. And it was just a really good conversation.
(58:00):
She was really sweet.
Speaker 7 (58:02):
Very sweet.
Speaker 3 (58:03):
I've never heard you say anything nice about anyone before.
Speaker 10 (58:06):
Speaking of people who are just not nice to anyone,
we welcome Lee Schrager to the show.
Speaker 8 (58:13):
Hi, buddy.
Speaker 12 (58:14):
Hey, guys.
Speaker 7 (58:15):
And I am going to be nice today. And I'm
going to say something nice to start off, which may
be the first and only time. Okay. I'm glad we're
here to witness this. No, because today is really an
amazing day. I remember 25 years ago turning into you guys.
When 9-11 happened. And that's why I wanted to be
here today because you're like my New York family. And
(58:36):
that's why I got up at 6 o'clock in the morning,
waited for El Bagel to open specially for me. to
bring bagels to you. Drove an hour and 17 minutes
in the rain to get here. So I can be
with my family on this.
Speaker 2 (58:52):
And you know what?
Speaker 7 (58:53):
It's kind of, I'm not comparing this by any means
to the tragedies or atrocities of the Holocaust, but it's
something you can't read yet. You can't forget. And it's
important that we remember every single year. And I remember
tuning in and listening to you, Elvis. God, you must've
been like 57. And Danielle, I think, right. I don't
(59:13):
know if I, I don't think.
Speaker 13 (59:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (59:16):
Froggy, were you there? I was not. Not yet. Nate
wasn't there yet. He was still in elementary school in
little shorts. But I remember tuning into you and feeling
like I was in New York city and It never
really hit me because we weren't in the city. I
was here in Miami until the first time I flew
over New York after that. I think it must have
been a few months before I traveled back into the city.
(59:39):
And I remember flying over the site and thinking, oh,
my God, how real this is. And, you know, I'll
never forget it. And even with the beautiful monument they
built to, you know, memorialize 9-11, it's still I look
at the plane every time I take off or land
in New York City. And it reminds me of that
horrible day. So I'm happy to be here today, which
I seldom get to say because I'm not normally happy
(01:00:01):
to be here because I'm not here enough. And you're
never happy. And before, I'm never happy. But speaking of that,
how is there an NCL getaway this weekend? That I
wasn't invited on. And I know I love NCL and
I love a getaway. No one loves a getaway more
than I do. And I brought my little Vuitton carry
bag in case there's an extra room.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
Did you bring your hoe bag so you could join us?
Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
I did.
Speaker 7 (01:00:23):
And Nate left it last time at my house. And
just before we go around the room.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (01:00:31):
You always joke with me, Elvis, like my audiences are
dinosaurs and my fans are old.
Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
I never said that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:37):
You do it all the time.
Speaker 7 (01:00:39):
You refer to my fan as old or close to dying.
My fans. I turned on the radio this morning driving here.
Speaker 13 (01:00:46):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (01:00:46):
And I'm like, in the first four minutes, here's what
I heard. Gandhi talking about... Heart attacks because she sleeps
with the light on. Scary doing a commercial for GLP-1s.
Or orderly meds. Or whatever they are. And somebody talking
about Crohn's and colitis. You don't think this is my audience?
(01:01:08):
I literally took pills for every one of those things
before I got out of the house. So don't say
this is not my audience. I never said it was
in your audience. I never said that. Last time I
was on, just a few short weeks ago, we were
voting me on to the show as a regular.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
Danielle?
Speaker 7 (01:01:25):
Yes, I remember.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
We were about to do the vote.
Speaker 7 (01:01:28):
And then all of a sudden, miraculously, the studio went dead. Yes.
And I was cut off. So I would like, you know,
I know it's, I think nothing better to memorialize Daniel. myself,
as a co-host of the show, would be to do
it on this special day, a day of remembrance.
Speaker 6 (01:01:46):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
Hold on.
Speaker 3 (01:01:47):
If we memorialize you, that means you're not here anymore.
Speaker 19 (01:01:50):
Well, I'm here.
Speaker 11 (01:01:51):
And I'm back.
Speaker 3 (01:01:52):
We're not going to vote you onto the show today.
Speaker 20 (01:01:54):
Why?
Speaker 3 (01:01:55):
But next time you're on the show, we will have
the vote.
Speaker 7 (01:01:57):
Why can't we do it today?
Speaker 2 (01:01:58):
What?
Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
Yeah, you get to come back.
Speaker 7 (01:02:02):
Did we thank El Bagels for waking up, opening the
store early?
Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
Thank you, El Bagels. By the way, this sandwich is gorgeous.
Speaker 7 (01:02:07):
Is it not gorgeous? And speaking of gorgeous.
Speaker 3 (01:02:10):
Wait, El Bagels, it's in my town.
Speaker 7 (01:02:12):
It's in Coconut Grove. It's minutes from your house.
Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
Absolutely.
Speaker 7 (01:02:15):
Which is minutes from my house, which means we're close
to one another.
Speaker 12 (01:02:19):
I know.
Speaker 8 (01:02:20):
Best season maybe.
Speaker 5 (01:02:21):
I know.
Speaker 7 (01:02:21):
So thanks for having me on today. And I'm going
to try to be as nice as I can. And
nothing makes me happier. than seeing these two beautiful girls
in sandbags.
Speaker 9 (01:02:30):
Aw, we love you.
Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
Well, you got Claudia over here.
Speaker 7 (01:02:33):
I just said, and Claudia in the corner. I said that.
I'm old, not blind. Speaking of blind, I don't understand
why I wasn't invited on the cruise.
Speaker 8 (01:02:43):
Listen, I tried to lobby for you, and Nate shut
it down.
Speaker 2 (01:02:45):
You did not, and he did not.
Speaker 8 (01:02:46):
Yes, I did.
Speaker 9 (01:02:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
This came about, and we're on a.
Speaker 7 (01:02:50):
Like another thing came about. Which ship are we on today?
Speaker 10 (01:02:53):
Getaway we're on the getaway and we're getting away to
the bahamas but then we have a special top secret
assignment that no one else is invited to and i
know about it well then okay if we can okay
so i wanted to get.
Speaker 7 (01:03:07):
Away from russia's show to dinner tonight by going on
the ship okay did julie wilson watson arrange this i'm
sure she did and she did not include me julie
are you listening oh my god again i was not
invited and i want to know one last thing before
i turn it over When is my contract up for renewal?
You don't have a contract. When is it up for renewal?
(01:03:27):
It's up for renewal if you don't have one. Let
me tell you, it's one thing in New York City
to roll out of bed and be in the office
in two minutes. I can't complain about that. I had
to drive an hour and 20 minutes, wait in line
to come here and be shoved off and get signals
like it's my time. My time is not over. I'll
let you know when it's over.
Speaker 3 (01:03:47):
Your time is pretty much over.
Speaker 7 (01:03:50):
So if you want to vote Lee Schrager onto the
show as a permanent co-host moving forward, I'd like to
talk about my benefits.
Speaker 3 (01:03:57):
Okay, we'll do that on that appropriate day. But here's
the thing.
Speaker 7 (01:04:00):
What is the appropriate day?
Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
Never?
Speaker 10 (01:04:01):
I think you would be, as a consultant to this moment,
it would be better served for us and you if
you aren't here every day.
Speaker 3 (01:04:10):
I don't want to be here every day. Well, you
just said full-time.
Speaker 7 (01:04:13):
Full-time is one.
Speaker 8 (01:04:14):
Day a month.
Speaker 7 (01:04:15):
That's not full-time. Full-time for me? Look at your schedule.
Speaker 6 (01:04:18):
Your benefits?
Speaker 7 (01:04:18):
You guys, you're... You guys are done with your day
before most people are getting up.
Speaker 14 (01:04:23):
We have other things going on as well.
Speaker 7 (01:04:25):
I know. I love your Broadway. We have to talk
about Broadway because I'm going up. I want to know
what to see.
Speaker 6 (01:04:28):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:04:29):
Bondi, we have to go for an Indian dinner. Yes,
we do. Nate, I know we've got to go work
that cake at the gym.
Speaker 8 (01:04:34):
What about me?
Speaker 7 (01:04:34):
What are you doing with me? And I want to
see you. Scary, you know what I love about you?
Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
What's that?
Speaker 7 (01:04:41):
I love.
Speaker 3 (01:04:41):
Is this the one more thing you wanted to say?
Speaker 7 (01:04:43):
Yes. Because it's continuing. It's like Columbo. I like. When
I watch Scary with you and your dad on that boat,
how good you are to your father.
Speaker 8 (01:04:52):
I said that.
Speaker 7 (01:04:53):
Can I tell you? I watched it and I see
and I wish that I was able to be as
good to my mom and dad. I wish they were
still here. But no, no. Watching you was. I wasn't surprised.
I knew. I know what a nice Hamish guy you are.
But seeing you with your dad. It was like the
sweetest thing. I love, love watching that. And you're so
lucky to have your dad.
Speaker 3 (01:05:13):
I am very fortunate because I lost my mom a
few years ago.
Speaker 7 (01:05:16):
I know that. It's all I have. No, I get it.
Speaker 10 (01:05:18):
But you know what? Don't listen to Lee right now.
He's playing the fiddle. He's getting everyone all sad because
your mom's not here and his parents aren't here.
Speaker 3 (01:05:27):
My parents aren't here.
Speaker 10 (01:05:28):
I see what you're doing. I see what you're doing.
You're trying to commandeer the show by using your heart.
Speaker 7 (01:05:34):
I don't have a heart. That's my point. You can't
use that.
Speaker 3 (01:05:36):
These are all lies.
Speaker 12 (01:05:38):
He's souring us with compliments.
Speaker 7 (01:05:39):
This is amazing.
Speaker 13 (01:05:40):
No.
Speaker 7 (01:05:40):
Did Elvis talk about his time with us in the Hamptons?
Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
Yes. He did?
Speaker 14 (01:05:44):
He said he had a lovely time. He said you
were a great host.
Speaker 8 (01:05:47):
You were nice. Yeah, a great host.
Speaker 13 (01:05:48):
Really?
Speaker 3 (01:05:49):
We had a great time.
Speaker 7 (01:05:50):
Nothing but nice things. I would like to say that
he was a great house guest.
Speaker 15 (01:05:53):
But.
Speaker 9 (01:05:54):
But.
Speaker 7 (01:05:54):
Did he stay with you? No, I didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:05:56):
He did not stay with me.
Speaker 8 (01:05:57):
Oh, there you go.
Speaker 9 (01:05:58):
You know me.
Speaker 10 (01:05:58):
I don't like to stay at people's houses. I like
to stay in a hotel room. I can be messy
and do my own thing. I can take a poop
and not worry about anyone sniffing it.
Speaker 7 (01:06:05):
Oh, God.
Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
I'm not going to poop in your house.
Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
Really?
Speaker 7 (01:06:11):
I don't even want to know about.
Speaker 3 (01:06:13):
You pooping in your house.
Speaker 7 (01:06:14):
You wouldn't know. Why are we even talking about any
of this? Why are you talking about pooping.
Speaker 9 (01:06:17):
In my house?
Speaker 10 (01:06:18):
You have been like a hurricane rolling through the studio
and screwing up our entire show.
Speaker 7 (01:06:22):
Because you keep pointing to your watch like I don't
know what time it is. No, no, it means to
hurry up. What day is the vote so people know?
Speaker 12 (01:06:28):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:06:29):
Next time you're on, but not today. Okay, you're not
in the city next week, of course, but I'll be
in the city for a full week getting ready for
the New York Festival. We'll promote it at some point.
Speaker 3 (01:06:39):
Next time you're there, it's going to be a big thing.
Speaker 16 (01:06:41):
It is?
Speaker 10 (01:06:42):
We have to go around the room right now. Was
that your around the room submission already?
Speaker 7 (01:06:46):
No, my thing about Scary was the thing around the room.
Speaker 3 (01:06:49):
That was very sweet, by the way.
Speaker 7 (01:06:50):
That was so nice.
Speaker 3 (01:06:52):
We all were watching Scary and his family.
Speaker 7 (01:06:54):
He's a good man.
Speaker 12 (01:06:54):
We love Tony.
Speaker 7 (01:06:56):
I love Tony.
Speaker 3 (01:06:58):
People are yelling at me on text.
Speaker 7 (01:07:00):
I'm tired of being nice.
Speaker 3 (01:07:00):
People on text are saying, be nice to Lee.
Speaker 7 (01:07:03):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:07:04):
Listen, I know Lee Schrager.
Speaker 7 (01:07:05):
I know what he's doing.
Speaker 3 (01:07:06):
I know how he knows how to play your fiddle.
Speaker 7 (01:07:09):
Fiddle. He's fiddling with your fiddle. He's a broad marketer.
Speaker 20 (01:07:11):
I love it.
Speaker 7 (01:07:12):
Good God.
Speaker 10 (01:07:12):
All right, let's go around the room. We'll come to
you last. So I have something else ready to go.
Speaker 18 (01:07:17):
Nice?
Speaker 7 (01:07:18):
Does it have to be nice? No, whatever.
Speaker 10 (01:07:20):
We'll start with Gandhi. I've used up my niceness. Okay, Gandhi,
what's up with you today?
Speaker 8 (01:07:25):
Well, on this day, we've all been talking about all
the things that happened 25 years ago. And I think
it's important to remember something we talk about in this
room all the time, which is you can't help the
things that happen to you, but you can very much
help the way that you react to them. And on
this day, we saw the worst of humanity. And then
a lot of people saw the best of humanity. So
be the best. Be the helper that you say Mr.
Rogers is always looking for. It's important. And if you
(01:07:48):
can go out and do something nice today, do it.
Speaker 7 (01:07:51):
Very good. Very well put. I love that.
Speaker 12 (01:07:54):
Thanks.
Speaker 7 (01:07:54):
Hey, Danielle, what's up with you?
Speaker 14 (01:07:56):
Well, mine is about Steve Buscemi because did you guys
know that he actually trained to be a firefighter and
he was? working with Engine 55 in New York City
before he became an actor. And so on 9-11, the
day after, he went back and he volunteered his time
once again with that fire department, and he did 12-hour
(01:08:18):
shifts for several days. Nobody knew about it at the time.
There were no cameras, no interviews. He didn't want any recognition.
And then after that, he even started a nonprofit. I
think it's called Friends of Firefighters. And they donate lots
of money to firefighters and their families that need it.
So celebrities doing things and not getting credit for it.
(01:08:38):
I thought that was like such a sweet thing. I'm
sure there's so many more stories like this. Out there,
but that one I thought wouldn't be nice to highlight.
Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
Well, thank you for bringing that in today.
Speaker 7 (01:08:45):
Yeah, you're welcome.
Speaker 3 (01:08:46):
Hey, Froggy, around the room to you.
Speaker 7 (01:08:48):
So I don't know if Lisa even wants me to
tell this story, but I'm going to.
Speaker 6 (01:08:50):
Oh, boy.
Speaker 7 (01:08:51):
No, it's actually a good thing.
Speaker 19 (01:08:52):
So today is, you know, the 25th anniversary of those
awful attacks on our country.
Speaker 7 (01:08:58):
It feels good to do nice things for other people.
Speaker 19 (01:09:00):
And the other day lisa called me and she was
crying and she said i just had the most amazing
experience and a woman walked into her business she works
at a boutique and she wanted to buy something and
lisa could tell that the woman did not have money
she could not afford to buy anything and so lisa
started having a conversation with her and found out she
just got out of jail and She was doing what
she could to try to put her life back together.
(01:09:21):
And she started crying. And Lisa said, hold on a second.
The night before, we were supposed to go donate some
clothes from Lisa's closet.
Speaker 7 (01:09:26):
And we didn't.
Speaker 19 (01:09:27):
We got sidetracked and didn't go. Lisa walked her out
to her car and gave her everything in her car, clothing-wise.
And the woman just started crying profusely. And hugged her
and said, God bless you.
Speaker 7 (01:09:38):
Thank you. I'm trying everything I can to get back
on my feet.
Speaker 19 (01:09:40):
And Lisa's like, it was the most amazing feeling to
do something for someone because of just.
Speaker 7 (01:09:47):
Somebody in.
Speaker 19 (01:09:47):
Need needed help, and Lisa helped her out. And to
see how much it changed and what it did for
her was great. But at the same time, today's a
day to do something for other people. So whether it
is something as small as holding a door or buying
a coffee or doing whatever you can, use today to
feel how we felt that day and help people around you.
Speaker 13 (01:10:04):
Hear, hear.
Speaker 7 (01:10:05):
Good going, Lisa.
Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
Around the room to Skiri. Skiri, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 20 (01:10:10):
So obviously, 25 years later, all of us remember it.
And the thing that's crazy is I have met people
along the way where kids, they don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:10:21):
And it's nice to know that Danielle's kids are learning
about it in school.
Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
And we heard from some teachers earlier who are teaching
it on this day. But from what I understand, it's
not something that's mandatory.
Speaker 12 (01:10:31):
In the school system anymore. or even being put in,
you know, to be taught.
Speaker 20 (01:10:35):
So I just want to make sure that everyone out
there who doesn't, you know, if you have a chance
and a voice in your community to make sure it
should become part of the curriculum. I think it needs
to be permanent because it's important that we never forget. So,
because again, some kids I know have no clue and
they've somehow missed that lesson that day.
Speaker 7 (01:10:57):
I agree.
Speaker 10 (01:10:58):
You know, and we are so fortunate to have, you know,
a A lot of teachers listening to our show.
Speaker 3 (01:11:03):
This is where the teachers go. You have the power.
Speaker 10 (01:11:04):
And so we've been talking to teachers all day today
about what they're going to do. And they have to
make some decisions because it's not in the textbooks a
lot of times. And what's in the textbooks isn't really
the way it happened. As we all know, textbooks are
not accurate ever.
Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
And they're going in there and making the decision today
to tell the story.
Speaker 12 (01:11:23):
Thank you for doing that. Absolutely.
Speaker 7 (01:11:24):
We love you, our teachers. Thank God for our teachers.
Speaker 3 (01:11:27):
Come on straight, Nate.
Speaker 12 (01:11:28):
Get over here.
Speaker 3 (01:11:28):
What's on your mind today? It's a huge around the room.
Speaker 13 (01:11:31):
So.
Speaker 16 (01:11:31):
Not living in New York City 25 years ago when
this happened, I was in State College, Pennsylvania, and it
was a very weird moment. Perhaps, I think I spoke
about this last year, one of the last times that
it will be like that because.
Speaker 7 (01:11:45):
We didn't know what was going on because we didn't
have phones.
Speaker 16 (01:11:48):
We didn't have everybody just sending you information every second
of the day, texts and news alerts. It was people
gathered around TVs. And I still remember walking into my class,
and it was a 9 o'clock class, And it was
an art history class, and I remember learning about Etruscan art.
And the teacher at the very beginning goes, all right, well,
(01:12:09):
you know, I know some weird stuff's going on. You know,
thanks for showing up today. And then leaving the class
an hour and 15 minutes later, because nobody had a phone.
Nobody knew what was going on. Campus was silent. There
was nobody out. And we walk out, what's going on?
And then we discovered. So I guess it's kind of...
(01:12:29):
loss of innocence in a way that it'll never be
like that again. You know, um, never we'll, we'll, um,
we'll always be wired to these things and always know
what's going on, which is kind of making us as
anxious as we are these days. Um, but, uh, yeah,
just never forget that.
Speaker 7 (01:12:46):
Thank you for sharing.
Speaker 10 (01:12:47):
Now here in Miami at Y 100.7, of course, our,
our host and our producer, Claudia, who's now carrying my child, uh, Claudia,
thanks for having us in, and thanks for taking such
good care of us.
Speaker 8 (01:13:00):
Of course.
Speaker 9 (01:13:01):
We appreciate it.
Speaker 8 (01:13:01):
I love it when you guys are here.
Speaker 12 (01:13:02):
And we love it when you're around the room.
Speaker 7 (01:13:04):
Yes.
Speaker 17 (01:13:05):
So we've been talking about it throughout the morning, and
I've been seeing everybody's perspective, but I was probably in
fourth grade, and I had just moved here. I moved
here in August of 2001, and I had no English
recollection of anything. So it's like figuring out how to
tell your kids... And translate that. It was so difficult
(01:13:28):
for my parents. So now, just knowing that I'm pregnant
and having to teach kids, I'm like, Danielle.
Speaker 8 (01:13:33):
How are we going to teach kids this situation? Because
it is going.
Speaker 9 (01:13:37):
To be hard.
Speaker 17 (01:13:38):
If it was hard for me to understand, I was
eight years old, and I didn't even know the language.
Speaker 8 (01:13:42):
How do we do that with kids? And that's going
to be my challenge. But bring it on.
Speaker 3 (01:13:46):
Well, aren't you writing a book?
Speaker 6 (01:13:48):
Yes.
Speaker 10 (01:13:48):
Tell everyone about the book you're writing because it really
is in the same category as this.
Speaker 3 (01:13:53):
Yeah, in the same realm, yes.
Speaker 17 (01:13:55):
So it's a book for kids until probably around six
or seven. And it's about grief and losing your loved
one and teaching them that they're up with God in
heaven and that they're safe. And you can talk to
them from your heart and they're going to listen to you.
And hopefully soon I'll have it. And then I'll be
(01:14:15):
able to share.
Speaker 9 (01:14:15):
It with you guys.
Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
All sparked by the loss of your father. All sparked
by my dad.
Speaker 17 (01:14:20):
So just having and taking those moments to go back
and take care of kids and seeing from their perspective.
Because as adults, I feel like it's easier for us
to communicate. But just how do you bring that down
to a kid's level? It's the part where we probably have.
Speaker 3 (01:14:35):
To work on a little bit more.
Speaker 7 (01:14:36):
I think you're going to master it. Absolutely.
Speaker 10 (01:14:38):
And thank you, Claudia. Now, Lee Schrager is here. And
he's going to give his around the room moment.
Speaker 7 (01:14:44):
That was not like a big buildup to me being here.
You don't need a buildup.
Speaker 8 (01:14:51):
Did you play the sound effect?
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
Where's the sound effect? I don't have it. You don't
need a big buildup. It's your turn.
Speaker 10 (01:14:57):
Let's naturally flow into what you have to say.
Speaker 7 (01:15:00):
Danielle, were your kids born during?
Speaker 13 (01:15:03):
No.
Speaker 14 (01:15:04):
Spencer was born four years later.
Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
I know that.
Speaker 7 (01:15:06):
Well, I'm wondering because you were talking to your kids
about sex the other day. and you were like, oh,
my God, I'm never having that conversation. I think you
said something. I did, no, but okay. I'm not imagining it, Gandhi.
Speaker 8 (01:15:19):
I don't remember that.
Speaker 7 (01:15:20):
No, weren't you talking about sex education and having that conversation?
Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
I don't remember.
Speaker 7 (01:15:23):
Sorry, that was another network. I'm sorry. Sorry, that was
another show.
Speaker 3 (01:15:27):
You were listening to Howard, maybe.
Speaker 7 (01:15:28):
That was on Ike Santos, my buddy. So, you know,
you were talking, I know this was correct, we were
talking about everyone coming together during 9-11 and how the
restaurant industry came together.
Speaker 5 (01:15:39):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (01:15:39):
And I think, You know, the best of times, the
worst of times. Watching what the restaurant industry did during
9-11 and feeding people and being out there and delivering food,
it just reminds me of how great that industry is.
They're always the first people to step up. Chefs and
people in the hospitality industry always seem to be the
(01:16:02):
people right there stepping up because nothing says love or
nothing makes you feel better than food. Yeah. Just like
an El Bagel this morning, although I'm not an El Bagel.
Speaker 6 (01:16:12):
Thank you, El Bagel.
Speaker 7 (01:16:12):
Thank you, El Bagel. So that's my Around the Room
for today. I understand that I'm not going on a
cruise today.
Speaker 13 (01:16:20):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (01:16:21):
But I will be happy to fly over and meet
you on the private island. Am I allowed to talk
about the private island?
Speaker 4 (01:16:25):
No.
Speaker 7 (01:16:26):
Oh, forget it.
Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
We're going to talk about that soon, though.
Speaker 9 (01:16:31):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:16:31):
Well, I don't want to blow the big surprise here.
What's his name? Oh, Nate just walked in. All right.
Speaker 12 (01:16:38):
Well, thank you.
Speaker 7 (01:16:38):
Nate, your cake is looking good.
Speaker 3 (01:16:40):
Yeah, your cake's looking fine.
Speaker 12 (01:16:41):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:16:41):
Well, there you go.
Speaker 7 (01:16:42):
Around the room.
Speaker 3 (01:16:43):
That was great.
Speaker 1 (01:16:44):
Good morning.
Speaker 10 (01:16:44):
Good morning.
Speaker 14 (01:16:49):
People think toilet paper is an either-or kind of thing,
either strong or soft. But you know, Angel Soft is
an all-of-the-above toilet paper. Pick up a pack of Angel
Soft in the toilet paper aisle at your nearest retailer.
Angel Soft, soft and strong.
Speaker 13 (01:17:04):
Simple.
Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
You know what?
Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
I didn't do an around the room submission.
Speaker 7 (01:17:18):
I'm going to do that right now.
Speaker 13 (01:17:19):
Go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:17:20):
Go for it. It's all about la familia. It's all
about your family.
Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
And you know what?
Speaker 10 (01:17:25):
A lot of times in life, you choose your families.
It so happens I have a great family that I'm
related to as well. But my family here in this room,
you know, and I'm finding your family that you choose
evolves over the years.
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
Some are there forever. Some are there just for a glimpse.
Speaker 4 (01:17:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:17:45):
And then they they move on. And that's OK. That's
just the way life is.
Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
Right.
Speaker 8 (01:17:48):
It's great.
Speaker 10 (01:17:49):
Sometimes if you were ever in my life, you're no
longer in my life. You were there for a reason.
And we all we both benefited from it, I'm sure.
You more than me.
Speaker 8 (01:17:58):
It's a reason, a season, or a lifetime. That's what
they say.
Speaker 7 (01:18:00):
Exactly.
Speaker 10 (01:18:02):
So I just love my family. And here on 9-11,
it's Danielle and Scary and Scotty B and I. We're
the four who were here on 9-11 25 years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
And now the family has grown. but we still have
our roots with.
Speaker 7 (01:18:18):
Each other, right?
Speaker 6 (01:18:19):
Of course.
Speaker 10 (01:18:20):
And then now Lee Schrager comes along. Lee Schrager is
my newest best friend and family member. I love, he
doesn't sound like it, but he likes me.
Speaker 14 (01:18:29):
He called you a best friend, Lee.
Speaker 2 (01:18:31):
He did?
Speaker 12 (01:18:32):
On the air? He likes me.
Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
He really likes me.
Speaker 14 (01:18:34):
He does. He loves you.
Speaker 7 (01:18:36):
Speaking of things that have grown in the last 25 years.
Speaker 5 (01:18:38):
What?
Speaker 13 (01:18:39):
Nothing.
Speaker 7 (01:18:39):
I was going to make a nasty joke.
Speaker 3 (01:18:42):
About my breasts?
Speaker 7 (01:18:43):
Oh my gosh. Oh Lord, help us all. Elvis won't
even go in the pool in public.
Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
What are we talking about we're moving on uh okay so.
Speaker 7 (01:18:55):
How thankful you are that i'm here today we are
very thankful i love you to be with my second
my it's my family away from family.
Speaker 10 (01:19:01):
For some reason when the microphones turn on he turns
into this monster uh line 10 is diana She remembers
driving to work on 9-11 25 years ago. Let's talk
about it. And she remembers the reaction of one of
our family members.
Speaker 12 (01:19:14):
Hello, Diana.
Speaker 1 (01:19:15):
Are you there?
Speaker 12 (01:19:15):
Oh, she's no longer there.
Speaker 10 (01:19:16):
But she remembers Danielle's reaction. Do you remember your reaction?
Speaker 14 (01:19:21):
I remember watching the second plane hit, and I remember
saying at the window, turn, turn, turn, turn, because we
thought it was a mistake at first, and then it
didn't turn. And then it hit, and that's when we realized, oh,
my gosh, I started screaming. But I don't know, on
the air, I think, I don't remember my reaction on air.
Speaker 13 (01:19:40):
Right.
Speaker 10 (01:19:41):
It was weird being there, being a part of watching
the history unfold right before your eyes, as many people did.
But I know when the first tower fell, you fell
to your knees.
Speaker 11 (01:19:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
As the tower fell.
Speaker 11 (01:19:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
And you were just so, so overcome with grief and
horror and fright.
Speaker 9 (01:19:58):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:19:59):
That's when I realized I've got to be a leader here.
Speaker 10 (01:20:02):
And take control and take care of these people.
Speaker 6 (01:20:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:20:05):
And so that's when I became a dad that day.
Speaker 14 (01:20:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:20:08):
That's got to be tough, too, though, because when you're
panicking and you don't know what's going on for any parent,
and then you have to guide somebody else through that,
I can't imagine what that's like.
Speaker 5 (01:20:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
You know what?
Speaker 11 (01:20:17):
I don't have kids.
Speaker 10 (01:20:17):
It was kind of weird you say that, because I'm
not saying this to toot my own horn at all.
I didn't panic at all that day.
Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
I think it was.
Speaker 10 (01:20:25):
The shock threw me into this mode of we got
to figure out what to do here. When do we
get out of this building? We didn't know if our
building was next.
Speaker 7 (01:20:31):
Right.
Speaker 14 (01:20:31):
We were in the tallest building in our area. And
we thought, well, maybe they're attacking tall buildings like we
didn't know.
Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
And then our friend Dennis Clark was with us. He's like, oh, God.
I said, I wonder how L.A.
Speaker 7 (01:20:43):
Is doing.
Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
He's from Los Angeles. He said, oh, please, no one
wants to fly a plane into the Hollywood sign.
Speaker 10 (01:20:47):
Only Dennis can say something so silly, so crazy.
Speaker 7 (01:20:52):
Anyway, what a day, what a day.
Speaker 10 (01:20:54):
And however you decide to handle this day is up
to you. And, you know, as usual, as we do
every year, we're going to have our moment of silence
coming up. And by the way, a moment is not
a minute. Because every single year I say now just
a moment of silence. And then we have that sound
in the background. There's a reason why we play that sound.
(01:21:15):
Because if we go totally dead air, all the stations
start playing commercials.
Speaker 7 (01:21:19):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:21:20):
I don't know who designed this system, but they did.
Speaker 8 (01:21:22):
You can hear Scary for GLP-1.
Speaker 3 (01:21:24):
So let me just hold your hand and walk you
through this.
Speaker 7 (01:21:26):
Exactly.
Speaker 10 (01:21:27):
You don't have to hear Scary do a GLP commercial
because we're going to have that sound on. And then
after that moment, we will play a song which we
find appropriate.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
Maybe two.
Speaker 10 (01:21:37):
But people always yell at us every year. That wasn't
a minute of silence. I didn't say we're doing a
minute of silence. We're doing a moment of silence.
Speaker 2 (01:21:45):
Right.
Speaker 8 (01:21:45):
Someone's still going to say it. You just spent so
much time and they're still going to text it. I'm
going to text it for fun.
Speaker 7 (01:21:50):
People are texting. We're going to get on with this
moment of silence.
Speaker 10 (01:21:52):
No, we do it at exactly the time the first
plane hit the World Trade Center tower.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
That's why we're not doing it yet.
Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
Right.
Speaker 13 (01:22:00):
There.
Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
So the little background stuff, it's kind of fun to
hear the background.
Speaker 7 (01:22:05):
Isn't it? I can't hear you get into a microphone.
Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
It's actually a.
Speaker 16 (01:22:08):
Lot of calculation that goes into this. And it's, it's
a very reverent, respectful moment that we do every year.
It takes a lot of effort.
Speaker 3 (01:22:14):
It's the only moment of the respectful that we do.
Speaker 8 (01:22:17):
Nate won't eat until it goes off appropriately.
Speaker 12 (01:22:20):
Good.
Speaker 8 (01:22:21):
And yeah, executes it right.
Speaker 10 (01:22:22):
Hey, again, it's about family and you know who your
family is. Make sure you connect with them today of
all days. It's a great reminder to know that these, these,
these people are your network. They're your peeps, your posse.
Speaker 12 (01:22:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:22:36):
Speaking of connecting, my mother and father are buried just
minutes from here, and I never get to go see them.
I'm going to go visit them after the show today.
Speaker 9 (01:22:44):
Oh, that's nice.
Speaker 7 (01:22:44):
No, it's true. I mean, sadly, I just don't come down.
And the cemetery is six minutes from here.
Speaker 14 (01:22:51):
Oh, then definitely.
Speaker 7 (01:22:52):
Do you talk to them? You lost your mom just
a year.
Speaker 1 (01:22:57):
Ago, right?
Speaker 7 (01:22:57):
Not even a year ago. October 12th would be a year. No,
I don't talk to them, but I think about them.
And I still listen to voice messages. You know, I
think I once said this. When I was in college,
my father called me every single day. I had a
phone in my room, which was a big deal. And
every day at four o'clock, my father called me. And
(01:23:18):
I remember like, this is so annoying. And they could
be one minute conversations. It was always, how's my boy?
I'm like, dad, I'm studying, dad. And you know what?
He did it to all my brothers. We're three boys.
And we all had the same story. Every day he
called us. And now I wish for those calls. And
now I listen back to some of the messages that
they left. I do the same thing.
Speaker 14 (01:23:38):
I have the last message. My dad left me the
day before his, you know, I think it was a
heart attack and that I listened to it all the time.
Speaker 7 (01:23:45):
Yeah. Hold on to those.
Speaker 6 (01:23:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (01:23:48):
So your family, whether they're here or they're not, they're
still your family forevermore. Anyway, coming up next, we observe
a moment of silence here on, 9-11.
Speaker 3 (01:24:02):
Collectively, as a team, you guys are just literally the best.
Speaker 9 (01:24:06):
Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.
Speaker 12 (01:24:09):
It was.
Speaker 10 (01:24:11):
About this moment 25 years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:24:15):
Right now.
Speaker 10 (01:24:17):
That our lives were changed forever in really bad ways
and in some spectacular ways too. As we've heard some
people say in life, you know, grief The things that
cause you to grieve, you never wanted them to happen.
But in life, you have to appreciate grief. You have
(01:24:39):
to appreciate the bad things that happen because it's a
part of our lives.
Speaker 12 (01:24:44):
Do we agree with that?
Speaker 8 (01:24:45):
Absolutely.
Speaker 12 (01:24:47):
So this is the.
Speaker 7 (01:24:48):
Hardest moment of this day for everyone.
Speaker 10 (01:24:52):
It was exactly, exactly to the moment 25 years ago.
Speaker 7 (01:25:02):
And now a moment of silence.
Speaker 10 (01:25:10):
We're watching live coverage from World Trade Center in New
York City. They call it, you know, ground zero again today.
That's a term that we actually stopped saying, ground zero.
But yeah, ground zero it is. Watching these family members,
you think about all the pain. Oh my gosh, all
the things these families had to go through. people that
(01:25:32):
showed up for work that day, people who didn't show
up for work that day. You know, our own Josh Haddon,
who is our chief of engineering, he was supposed to
be at the top of the World Trade Center where
the transmitters were located. He set his clock to PM
rather than AM for some reason, didn't wake up. You
hear a lot of those stories, but you also hear
all the stories of the people that did make it
in and all these first responders who were down there
(01:25:55):
and all the people who are still losing their lives
today from illnesses from being there.
Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
And it's an ongoing story.
Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
And, wow.
Speaker 14 (01:26:04):
Do you remember the following days? The building we were
in had a parking garage, and a lot of the
people who worked over at the World Trade Center would
park their car in our parking garage and take the
ferry over.
Speaker 16 (01:26:16):
Yep.
Speaker 14 (01:26:16):
And I remember the days following, and I remember the
parking attendant saying, people just didn't come back and pick
up their cars because they didn't make it. So their
family members had to come and collect their cars and stuff.
And I just remember how many cars there were.
Speaker 10 (01:26:29):
And, Danielle, there's also the train station stories. Where people
out in New Jersey and in Long Island, they all
went to the train stations and they parked their cars
there and they'd go to work. And their cars remained
there for days and days.
Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
And also, people who parked downtown and who got out,
but their cars remained on those streets for months.
Speaker 7 (01:26:48):
And so, gosh, so many stories. Do you remember, I
remember thinking it was never going to be the same,
that our lives would never be the same after 9-11.
And they weren't. But I also think that the years
after 9-11, even with that tragedy, were the best years
of my life. So many great things happened to me
since 9-11. I normally don't have a timeframe of when
(01:27:08):
things happen. I just forget. If you don't have kids,
you can't relate things over. But I remember just that
time in my life thinking we'll never get through this
and life will never be the same. And life goes
on and you have to live with it and you
just can't forget it. I think that's the message that
I take away from it. We can't forget what happened
and it just can't ever happen again.
Speaker 10 (01:27:27):
Well, the question was, would life change forever? And even
though great things happened for a lot of us after 9-11,
life is different.
Speaker 20 (01:27:39):
Totally.
Speaker 7 (01:27:39):
Just look at the airport.
Speaker 13 (01:27:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:27:41):
We'd look at everything.
Speaker 10 (01:27:42):
And I tell you what, every year when we do
that moment of silence, I get, I get, I just,
I start crying, you know, because I know that we
all lost some innocence, a lot of innocence, kids, adults,
all of us. But anyway, so grateful to be here
with each other and to be here with you today.
And I know, you know, I know next year, I
(01:28:02):
think 9-11 is on a weekend. For the next two years,
we won't be here on 9-11. But in three years,
I think we'll still have jobs.
Speaker 5 (01:28:10):
I hope.
Speaker 3 (01:28:12):
We'll get together and we'll still tell more stories.
Speaker 7 (01:28:15):
What will I do without this paycheck?
Speaker 8 (01:28:18):
For Lee, we must carry on.
Speaker 12 (01:28:20):
For Lee.
Speaker 14 (01:28:21):
Lee needs to live.
Speaker 3 (01:28:23):
We must carry on.
Speaker 7 (01:28:24):
Make some money.
Speaker 10 (01:28:24):
Hey, a big thank you to Garrett, who is running
our show back in New York City. Garrett, thank you
so much for putting up with our crap today.
Speaker 12 (01:28:31):
I love you.
Speaker 7 (01:28:32):
Love you.
Speaker 10 (01:28:32):
And of course, we love you too. And Scotty B,
you know what? uh and of course of course diamond
and uh producer sam thank you guys and um we
got to take a break we are in miami if
you're wondering why we will reveal that next week we
can't tell you why yet it's a big surprise leash
rager knows he's you're being really good at keeping it
(01:28:52):
a secret thank you My paycheck is depending on it.
Speaker 18 (01:28:58):
Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. This is Elvis Duran
and the Morning Show.
Speaker 3 (01:29:10):
The highlight of our lives. The arrival of Juju Green.
Speaker 7 (01:29:14):
Juju!
Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
What up, y'all?
Speaker 12 (01:29:17):
What up, y'all?
Speaker 10 (01:29:18):
You can always do the search for Straw Hat Goofy
on your social channels. You gotta listen to his podcast
or watch it.
Speaker 3 (01:29:23):
Experience it. We love everything you do, Juju. Let's get
on with it.
Speaker 10 (01:29:26):
You have four projects that you are loving this week,
and you're saying we have to check each and every
one of them out.
Speaker 6 (01:29:32):
Go ahead.
Speaker 7 (01:29:33):
Yes.
Speaker 6 (01:29:33):
Okay, so the first one is actually a Korean film
that's taking the world by storm in theaters right now.
It's simply called Hope. I love one word titles. It's
always intrigued me. And this movie is no exception. You
go to see this movie and it's about two cops
who go to a village called Hope Harbor where they
find out a monster is terrorizing the village. So they
try to take out the monster. But it turns out
(01:29:55):
the monster is actually hunting them. And it's actually a
lot more disastrous than they thought. They train to Busan,
but on one singular village. It's very scary. It's very intense.
The action is crazy. I saw a trailer of this
at CinemaCon yesterday. And it was absolutely insane, and I
wanted to see it ever since. And then I saw it,
and it literally lived up to the hype. So it's
one of my favorite movies of the year. I don't
(01:30:15):
know if it made my top ten yet. I'm going
to have to reevaluate it all. But I think Hope
is a movie that everyone should see, especially since it
is a foreign film.
Speaker 7 (01:30:23):
And I'm telling you, man.
Speaker 10 (01:30:24):
In your mind, I mean, paint a picture for us.
What is it in this film that makes you go, God, yes,
this one?
Speaker 6 (01:30:30):
Well, the first— I' ll tell you this, without spoiling too much.
The first thing that I saw in the trailer was
that it was a group of people running through, like,
a neighborhood. And then this giant monster that was, like,
towering over them just was kind of, like, swatting them
away like flies. And that just immediately gives me a
bunch of dread because I have an irrational fear of
things that are bigger than what they're supposed to be.
So I said, oops, pooped myself. I want to see that.
(01:30:54):
I want to experience that. So that right there alone
kind of like locked me in. But then you see
the rest of the movie and you find out that
it actually has like a lot of heart. It actually
has like a lot of like a soul to it,
a lot of like human spirit to it. But if
you want people getting like smashed and completely ripped apart
by a monster, you get some of that, too. So
I think it's like almost like the entire the entire
(01:31:14):
package that you want in the movie.
Speaker 13 (01:31:16):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:31:16):
Let's hope it's in theaters now.
Speaker 16 (01:31:18):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
Next.
Speaker 7 (01:31:19):
Boom.
Speaker 6 (01:31:19):
This one, super campy. You might think it's bad. You
might think it's good. You might think it's somewhere in
the middle. But I love that this is a movie
that we all can watch and like take something away
from it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:30):
It's called Buddy. Buddy is essentially like. I talked about
this yesterday.
Speaker 6 (01:31:34):
Yes buddy is one of the ones it's basically what
if Barney was an orange like unicorn hippo thing and
instead of like loving kids and wanting to like play
with kids he holds the kids hostage in this surreal
television world and it's very like off-putting but in a
very like weird way it makes you realize that Barney
(01:31:58):
kind of a creepy.
Speaker 2 (01:31:58):
Dude like.
Speaker 6 (01:32:03):
And it's so campy, but you don't really mind it.
You know what the movie's going for exactly. And I
think it's just one of those enjoyable movies that you
know what you're getting into once you start watching it.
Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
So I would highly suggest watching Buddy.
Speaker 6 (01:32:17):
And then watch an episode of Barney right after just
so you can feel certain things.
Speaker 3 (01:32:21):
Is Buddy in theaters or streaming?
Speaker 2 (01:32:23):
Buddy's in theaters.
Speaker 14 (01:32:26):
And Buddy made a lot more money than it cost
to make Buddy. That's for sure.
Speaker 13 (01:32:30):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (01:32:31):
Let me translate.
Speaker 3 (01:32:33):
Does that mean it's making money?
Speaker 9 (01:32:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:32:35):
It's making money. It's making money. It's the obsession of
the Barney genre, apparently.
Speaker 17 (01:32:41):
All right.
Speaker 6 (01:32:43):
All right, this next one that you can watch in
theaters as well, it is called By Any Means. It
stars two of my favorite actors, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. You
guys probably have seen him in shows like The Get Down.
You've seen him as Black Manta in Aquaman, Candyman. He
is a force to be reckoned with as an actor.
But also, he's starring with Mark Wahlberg. Mark Wahlberg playing
(01:33:06):
a mob boss, a mafia boss in... This movie is
set in the 60s and it's based on a true story. Essentially,
an FBI agent gets sent to a town to basically
investigate the murder of not only a close personal friend,
but a civil rights activist. And since, like, you know, racism,
the FBI basically sends in a mafia boss to find
out what exactly happened to this guy because this mafia
(01:33:28):
boss gets results.
Speaker 2 (01:33:29):
And so it's basically like training day.
Speaker 6 (01:33:31):
But if the other cop was a straight up mafia
king and he was like, hey, yo, man, I know
you an FBI agent, but we got to get some answers.
So let's break some legs.
Speaker 2 (01:33:42):
So I really don't.
Speaker 6 (01:33:47):
Know what accident that was. That was awesome. That's not
even how Mark Wahlberg sounds in the movie. That was
just my personal one.
Speaker 3 (01:33:58):
Which actor is in, by any means, that was in
The Get Down?
Speaker 6 (01:34:02):
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. He plays the character of Cadillac in
The Get Down.
Speaker 9 (01:34:06):
He is our babe.
Speaker 6 (01:34:09):
He is a handsome dude. Oh, he also plays Wonder Man.
He's also in Wonder Man as well. He's the star
of Wonder Man.
Speaker 3 (01:34:14):
No, he's hot.
Speaker 10 (01:34:15):
The Get Down is, in my opinion, one of those
incredible projects that really didn't get the attention it deserved.
Speaker 3 (01:34:21):
I love The Get Down. Did you guys see it
at all?
Speaker 6 (01:34:23):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
Love The Get Down.
Speaker 6 (01:34:26):
It came out around a time where Stranger Things was
also popping off, so I was surprised that it wasn't
one of those ones that people got immediately obsessed with.
That one was created by Baz Luhrmann, of all people,
and it definitely has the Baz Luhrmann feel to it.
Shameik Moore is in that. Justice Smith is in that.
That show is kind of stacked. Part one was really,
really great. I think part two has a little bit
of a fall.
Speaker 2 (01:34:45):
Off, but... The Get Down is one of those ones that, again,
great music.
Speaker 6 (01:34:50):
It details the rise of hip-hop and DJing and what
was it? Grandmaster Flash in the 70s in New York.
It's definitely a love letter to New York as well.
So I didn't think I was going to be recommending
that one, but The Get Down also. Please watch that one.
It's on Netflix, both parts. Actually, Baz Luhrmann came in
to promote that on our show.
Speaker 12 (01:35:08):
Oh, did he?
Speaker 7 (01:35:09):
Okay, so what's your fourth?
Speaker 6 (01:35:11):
My fourth is a movie that you can watch on
Apple TV +. I'm sure that everyone has Apple TV +.
They got some really great shows and movies, guys, like really,
really great ones. This one is called Mayday, and this
one stars Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh, who likes to
jump from being an actor to a director, which is
how I like my talent in actors and directors. But
it's essentially about a pilot who basically gets trapped behind
(01:35:34):
enemy lines, and he has to— team up with an
ex-KGB agent who is Kenneth Branagh, the pilot being Ryan Reynolds.
Speaker 2 (01:35:40):
And it's basically an action.
Speaker 6 (01:35:41):
Comedy, basically about like a buddy comedy about these two
guys trying to help each other get out from behind
enemy lines. And fun fact, this is directed by John
Francis Daly. who was the actor who played Sam in
Freaks and Geeks, and he's gone on to have an
amazing career directing things like Game Night, which is a
completely underrated action comedy, Dungeons and Dragons, which was very underrated,
(01:36:05):
which was a big flop, but I'm pretty pleased.
Speaker 2 (01:36:08):
Watch that movie. That movie's great. He also co-wrote Horrible
Bosses 1 and 2, so.
Speaker 6 (01:36:12):
Going from a really nerdy geek and geek freaks and
geeks to now directing these really fun, really capable comedies
and action comedies, he's great.
Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
So definitely Mayday, worth a watch. It's on Apple.
Speaker 6 (01:36:28):
And the press run between Ken Abrana and Ryan Reynolds
has been very, very great. So watch those as a
bonus as well.
Speaker 7 (01:36:33):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (01:36:34):
Juju Green.
Speaker 10 (01:36:35):
Okay, here's what he gave us. I think out of
these four, you seem to light up most when you
talked about hope. the Korean film, which is in theaters now. Also,
we had a lot of fun with Buddy, the super
campy bump Buddy that kind of pokes fun at Barney.
Speaker 7 (01:36:50):
A little bit.
Speaker 10 (01:36:51):
So that's in theaters as well. By any means, we
just talked about that. And on Apple TV plus is mayday.
Lots of stuff to chew on. You can always check
out our juju green, do the search for straw hat
goofy on your social channels.
Speaker 3 (01:37:07):
And yeah, you have an announcement. Give it what's new
in the life of you.
Speaker 2 (01:37:11):
Oh my God. Uh, I do. I have an announcement.
Speaker 6 (01:37:13):
I don't know, but also, uh, actually I am also
hosting the, uh, lanterns official podcast for the lantern show
that's on hbo max so make sure you guys check
that out in conjunction with my get wrecked with charlie
goofy podcast uh we talk about everything lanterns on that
we do episode breakdowns after the episode comes out we
talk to everybody who made directed wrote show ran created
(01:37:36):
the show It's incredible.
Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
And if you're not watching Lanterns, what are you doing?
It's incredible. Green lights and Aaron Pierre. That's Mufasa.
Speaker 3 (01:37:43):
You're fabulous. The one, the only Juju Green. We love you, Juju.
Speaker 2 (01:37:46):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
Thank you, guys.
Speaker 18 (01:37:48):
Don't answer the phone, Elvis Duran. The Elvis Duran phone tap.
Speaker 3 (01:37:55):
Oh, I love this phone tap.
Speaker 10 (01:37:57):
My aunt and great aunt both get frantic over every
little thing. especially when telemarketers call and interrupt their day.
In fact, my great-aunt barely speaks any English, but she
loves to get frustrated. This is from Sabrina. Sabrina is
(01:38:18):
phone-tapping her aunt and great-aunt. She's phone-tapping them, and scary
as Mr. Michael Oppenheimer is our resident relentless telemarketer, as
you know. Sabrina's aunt Great Aunt, both being phone tapped.
Speaker 7 (01:38:28):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:38:29):
Hello?
Speaker 8 (01:38:31):
Hello?
Speaker 11 (01:38:33):
Ah, yes.
Speaker 12 (01:38:33):
Good afternoon. This is Mr. Michael Oppenheimer from iRobot.com. How
are you doing today, miss?
Speaker 7 (01:38:39):
Okay.
Speaker 15 (01:38:40):
Hi.
Speaker 12 (01:38:40):
We have a beautiful product here called the Roomba. It
is a robot which cleans the house for you.
Speaker 7 (01:38:46):
Yeah, I saw the commercials, but I'm not interested.
Speaker 12 (01:38:48):
For just $ 229.
Speaker 6 (01:38:49):
99.
Speaker 12 (01:38:49):
No, thank you. I could send you some literature on this.
Speaker 1 (01:38:57):
Hello?
Speaker 12 (01:38:57):
This is Mr. Michael Oppenheimer with Roomba.
Speaker 4 (01:39:00):
Again, you just called!
Speaker 12 (01:39:01):
I didn't tell you.
Speaker 4 (01:39:02):
I wasn't interested.
Speaker 11 (01:39:03):
I'm not interested.
Speaker 4 (01:39:04):
I'm in a rush going out.
Speaker 7 (01:39:05):
I have to go because someone's waiting for me.
Speaker 12 (01:39:08):
We also have available the Scuba, which is the world's
first robotic floor washer.
Speaker 9 (01:39:12):
I cannot afford it right now.
Speaker 4 (01:39:14):
I cannot afford it.
Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
I don't want it.
Speaker 7 (01:39:16):
I'm not interested.
Speaker 12 (01:39:17):
With the sidekick, the scuba, you'll never have to wash
your floors again.
Speaker 14 (01:39:20):
Is this a real person or is it like, are
you a machine or are you a real person?
Speaker 12 (01:39:24):
No, I'm real. The iRobot is the machine.
Speaker 4 (01:39:27):
Are we kidding? Are you kidding me?
Speaker 12 (01:39:28):
No, I'm for real.
Speaker 4 (01:39:29):
I don't want it.
Speaker 2 (01:39:30):
I'm hanging up.
Speaker 19 (01:39:31):
Please do not call me.
Speaker 7 (01:39:32):
I'm at the door right now.
Speaker 12 (01:39:33):
Okay, now you.
Speaker 14 (01:39:34):
All right, I gotta go.
Speaker 12 (01:39:35):
You do understand though....
Speaker 4 (01:39:38):
Hello?
Speaker 1 (01:39:39):
Oh, yes.
Speaker 13 (01:39:40):
Good afternoon.
Speaker 12 (01:39:40):
This is Mr. Michael Oppenheimer from iRobot.com. How's everything?
Speaker 9 (01:39:44):
No, my love.
Speaker 10 (01:39:45):
No, no.
Speaker 7 (01:39:46):
Can I make a lien?
Speaker 12 (01:39:48):
Would you like the iRobot?
Speaker 6 (01:39:49):
Thank you.
Speaker 13 (01:39:50):
No, thank you.
Speaker 12 (01:39:51):
I'd like to send one to your house.
Speaker 14 (01:39:52):
Sandy, me now.
Speaker 4 (01:39:54):
I'm in the police.
Speaker 12 (01:39:55):
I'm sorry. The police?
Speaker 4 (01:39:57):
Okay, now make.
Speaker 12 (01:40:00):
The police cannot.
The police will not clean your floor the way the
Roomba does, miss. We'd like to send you one.
Speaker 4 (01:40:09):
Do you know how to clean the floors?
Speaker 1 (01:40:12):
Ooh.
Speaker 2 (01:40:19):
Hello?
Speaker 12 (01:40:20):
Oh, yes, Captain.
Speaker 4 (01:40:21):
You're telling me I'm going to call.
Speaker 7 (01:40:22):
The cops, okay?
Speaker 2 (01:40:23):
This is ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (01:40:24):
My grandma, she got worried now. She came to get
me outside.
Speaker 7 (01:40:28):
I was about to go out the door. She's old, okay?
Speaker 1 (01:40:30):
If she hears something, I'm going to call the cops.
Speaker 12 (01:40:34):
Maybe that means she can't do a lot of cleaning
and she'd like the Roomba to do it for her.
Speaker 2 (01:40:38):
No, she don't want the Roomba.
Speaker 4 (01:40:39):
She don't even have any carpet over here.
Speaker 2 (01:40:41):

No, I don't want it. If you don't stop calling me,
I'm going to call the cops.

Speaker 4 (01:40:57):
Oh, Santa Maria. I'm going to come there and beat
the crap out of you.
Speaker 12 (01:41:01):

Maybe they can't see as well as they used to.
Speaker 4 (01:41:05):
Oh, my God. You're so annoying. I'm on. What the
hell's wrong with you?
Speaker 12 (01:41:10):

Speaker 4 (01:41:29):
Send you one of these. What don't you understand, miss?
Speaker 12 (01:41:47):
It removes dirt out of virtually every crevice.
Speaker 7 (01:41:50):
No, no, no.
Speaker 12 (01:41:52):
It glides back and forth across your floor for hours.
Speaker 9 (01:41:54):
Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 12 (01:41:56):
It makes spaghetti.
Speaker 4 (01:41:57):

Speaker 12 (01:42:05):
Yes, Italiano.
Speaker 4 (01:42:06):
Get me clean. No way.
Speaker 12 (01:42:08):
No interest financing.
Speaker 4 (01:42:09):
No. I won't send it. Okay. But I must tell you, you've.
Speaker 7 (01:42:18):
Been phone tapped.
Speaker 13 (01:42:26):
Okay?
Speaker 20 (01:42:27):
This is Scary Jones.
Speaker 4 (01:42:30):

Speaker 7 (01:42:38):
She's like she had a heart attack. No, you gave
her a heart attack.

You've got CBS 9-11 We Remember and also Daughters of 9-11. And,

Let's see how it goes. Yeah, let's see how that goes.
Speaker 10 (01:43:30):
Lee Schrager, thank you so much for bringing breakfast in
from El Bagel.
Speaker 7 (01:43:35):
Thank you, El Bagel, and thank you, Norwegian, all my friends,
for inviting me on the ship this weekend.
Speaker 12 (01:43:41):
That was sarcastic.
Speaker 2 (01:43:42):
Who said no?
Speaker 7 (01:43:43):
I want to know who said no.
Speaker 10 (01:43:44):
Thank you to our friends at Signia by Hilton Diplomat

And Diplomat Prime, dinner last night? We need to send

Speaker 3 (01:43:54):
She was awesome.
Speaker 10 (01:43:57):
Please be kind to each other and show love to
everyone out there in your life and beyond until Monday.
