Recorded before Game 3, I.T. and C.J. catch up on what they've been seeing from both the Spurs and the Knicks so far in this series. Brunson and KAT are playing in an incredibly organic way that just so happens to throw Wemby's game off completely. On top of that, the Spurs' role players aren't quite hitting their stride yet and it's making all the difference. If the Knicks can pull this off, it will be a Finals run for the history books. deep in the finals. Two games have happened. I haven't
talked to my guy it about it here it How
are we feeling? Spurs down?

New York heading home? Game three is tonight, so we
can do some predictions there. But you know, we were
high on the Spurs. So I haven't gotten your general
sort of feeling what you've seen, how you're feeling can
the Spurs to pull us off. We're also not Spurs fans,
but like that was our predictions, So I'm curious what
you're thinking.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
First off, I don't think it's over. I think they
got an up uphill battle to fight. Obviously it's going
to be super tough. The Knicks. Man, the Knicks, you
gotta tip your hat off to the Knicks. Like they
they've showed what are they on the thirteen game winning streak. Yeah,
they've showed, you know, at least the last thirteen games

that they've been the best team in the league. And
we've said this though throughout the season is when the
Knicks are good, they do look like the best team
in the league. And when they aren't, they obviously don't
look that good. And they've man, they've hit it on
the head at the right time.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Bro, Like it's the Spurs.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
I don't like, Spurs still had chances to win those
two games, So like, it's not nothing like where you
know there's concern. The only concern is it's gonna be
hard to win in New York and then you didn't
take care of business at home. But for a Spurs
team that hasn't been in this situation before, it's it's

tough in the sense of how they let game two go,
like you had a real chance to win a game two.
Obviously Winby had a crucial turnover and foul. They I
think they got an amazing look at the end of
the game, a pull up jumper from Winby that he
usually hits the hit off the back iron. But like,
I know, we want to talk about the Spurs. It's

like it's unfortunate that they didn't win a game at home.
But you know, on this show, we got to give
a shout out to the guys who earned it, and
it's the Knicks. Karl Anthony Towns is, Jalen Brunton is
their role players. They look like the veteran team. Obviously
they haven't been to the finals either, but they look

like the team that's a little older, the team that's
a little more mature.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
On both sides of the floor. Weinby is looking twenty two.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Years old, like which he should because he hasn't been
in this situation. So like, yeah, everybody was a high
on the Spurs and the emotions of the Western Conference finals.
But the Knicks are doing what they're supposed to do.
The Knicks are playing high level basketball, They're playing team basketball.

They're coaching is making their coaching staff is making the
right adjustments and not saying the Spurs aren't. But their
lack of experience is hurting them right now. And like
I said a minute ago, I don't think it's over.
Like I know how the NBA playoffs go. I've been
down not in the finals, but I've been down too
old before and lost our two games at home to

the Bulls and then ran off four straight. So I
understand that the series isn't over. But every possession matters. Now,
you know how they say every possession really, but like,
every possession is gonna be magnified. Every possession on both
sides of the floor is gonna be gonna be critical
for a team that's down oh too and lost their

first two games at home, so things are gonna be
you know, things are gonna be difficult. And then just
winning in New York that's gonna be so hard to
do in the finals. So but like I said, I
don't think the series is over. But We're gonna have
to have great performances not only from Winby, but from
his supporting cast as well for.

Them to even sneak a game, you know in Madison
Square Garden.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Yeah, I agree with that. I want we'll go back
to this first thing. But you're right, like, let's let's
start this thing with just you know, sort of praising
what we've seen from the next because this is special,
like obviously with the winning streak, sweeping the last two series,
making those adjustments in the first round, like this Knicks
team is doing everything that they they wanted to do

and they're hitting their potential. They're peaking. Let's start with
Brunson because as you know, as a small guard, we've
talked about it, the doubt that you know he's faced
from a Spur, a former Spurs coach. You know, we
don't got a name. Names everyone else we're talking.

About names, and we got all respect for Becky Hamby.

So I'm like waiting to see what she's gonna say.

But she ain't gonna say nine because when we when
when when I when she doubled back on it, she said,
I stand on my word. It's like, okay, let's change
the game of basketball. Dam go did a championship, so
US small guards can be one a on the championship team.

Well, so I want to know, I want to know
what you were feeling watching that. You know, he struggled
early in the game. He had a couple of potential
injuries there that were like, oh, no, is this going
to be an issue throughout the series? And man, both
games had just like overcame was the leader ball in
his hand? Hit too crazy? Honestly, it's a shot that
we've seen you do a lot. That's sort of like

bumping and turnament fed fadeaway on on some big guys.
It doesn't like those are the iconic highlights and shots
that we're gonna watch for years to come. But Jalen
has done that in the first two games. So what's
your reaction watching Jalen Brunson sort of really coming to
his own and take leadership and hit crazy big shots
in crunch time.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Man, he has the mindset like his mindset is everything.
He's not afraid of the moment. He doesn't get too
high or too low, whether he's having a good shooting
night or not. Even in the first game, he I
think it was like five or seventeen in the first half,
Like it doesn't really matter when it comes to the
playoffs and you're the league guy, you can't leave any

you know, you can't leave any bullets left, you can't.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
You got it empty the clip.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
And he's doing that, and I think his teammates follow
him when he's the aggressor.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Obviously we'll talk about kat And a little bit.

Who has you know, played tremendously and and and and
been able to do multiple things, not just score the ball.
He's been able to defend at a high level and
being able to assist and make plays for others, which
has allowed Jalen Brunton to be strictly in aggressive mode,
scoring mold make plays, molde putting pressure on the defense

every time down and that's allowed the Knicks to be successful.
And then you got to tip your hat off to
all the role players. MIKEL Bridges is having a hell
of a series. Josh Hart is rebounding the ball at.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
A high level.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
He's doing and doing the little things that they don't
show up in you know, in the in the team
huddle that don't show up in the stat sheet, like
guarded multiple positions. So those guys are just they're clicking
on all cylinders and they they're a team that're like,
this is the definition of playoff basketball, when you want
to play the right way and play at the level

they are at the right time, and.

They're doing that.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Man, So you got to give a shout out to
the head of the snake, who is Jalen Brunson, who
is so even killed. I think it allows everybody else
to be even killed even when he's struggling.

And that's the sign of a superstar.

That's the sign of the league guy on the championship
team where you know the moment isn't too big for him,
and when your best player it has that mindset of
where the moment doesn't get you know, too big for him.

It allows everybody.

Else on that team, that roster, the bench to settle
down and be like, Okay, we're gonna follow his footsteps
and just help fit in where we can and help
where where we can and go from there.

And those guys been doing that.

And then, like I said earlier, you gotta give a
shout out to Mike Brown because those first two games,
I bet the whole the whole world was the first
two games of the playoffs. The whole world was saying
fire Mike Brown, Yeah to two a month later, to
six weeks later. You know, you see as he's a
legend in the fast Joe, he's meeting big still there,

but he doing all of those things. So like that's
how fast things change in professional sports, because this is
what have you done for me lately? Like it could
be a good it could be a tough stretch of
two or three games, and then you could run off
where they haven't lost a game in forty three, forty
five days, whatever the thing is. It's like, this is
what basketball is about at this time of the year, man,

And we got to just keep tipping our hat offs
to the New York Knicks and everything about the Knicks
because they're doing it and they deserve it right now,
they deserve it.

But the series is not over as far from over.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
I do also want to shout out you said it before,
Kat who we all we sort of know his number
one attribute is one of the best offensive bigs, one
of the best shooting bigs we've ever seen. But he's
been causing Wenby trouble, and by causing trouble, like Wenby
is still dropping mid twenties, you know, but he hasn't
been able to get down on the post. You know,
if it's not Cat, it's Mitchell Robinson, then it's og.

It's the guys are really playing Wemby well that I
haven't even seen a post game out of Wemby. You know,
he's taking a lot of fatal He's taking a lot
of threes, which is crazy. So what have you noticed
sort of watching like from the Thunder series into this
next series, like how are they playing Wemby differently and
almost like making him look human here?
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yeah, and we could talk about both sides, like with
the with the Thunder series, Wemby didn't have to guard
a shooting big right, so you know they they allow
Wemby to to basically fake guard Check and Isaiah Hernstein
in terms of you don't got to worry about their
three ball as much, so you could protect the paint.
Now this series is a different series. Kat is at
(10:43):
the top of the key. He's got to bring you out. He's,
like you said, he's one of the best offensive bigs
we've seen. He can shoot from deep at a high level,
so you got to respect that. And then when he
drives one thing that I seen with Wemby's doing, He's
closing out so so hard because of the shot because
the Cats.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
But then when.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Cat drives, Cat is a lot stronger than him, so
he's putting his weight on him and it's not as
easy for Winby to slow Cat down in terms of
getting to the paint being able to finish. Yes, Winby
is gonna change shots. He's gonna block some shots. But
also when you have a big that's just as long
as him, that that has a little more weight and

strengthen him, as you've seen on Cats drives, he's not
really focused on Weinby, like it's not bothering him to
get his shot. Block are changed every now and then
when he's able to put Winby underneath the basket and finish.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
And then you got a guy like Og as well.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
He had a couple of times where body, the body
he bodied, Winby got it dunk. Those those things take
a toll on you throughout the game, like when you
gotta guard heavy guys, like it's not just you gotta
guard guys on the three point line, your guarden guys
that can drive the lane as well. Your guarden guys
like Mitchell Robinson who in the paint no matter if
(11:59):
he can't do anything outside of the paint. It's a
heavy it's a heavy body on you that's over the
course of a game, is taking a toll on him.
So they're putting different defenders on him as well as
we switch the offense. They're putting different defenders on him,
they're bodying him up, they're making him be more physical
than he wants to. So, as you said, yeah, we're

seeing a post game where he's shooting shooting fadeaways, where
he's shooting more threes because the lanes aren't open for him,
so he's not getting easy baskets like he's used to getting.
And New York has defenders where you know, they could
put different defenders on him, they could show him different
different coverages.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
And then what is being not.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Talked about as well is CJ is the spurngs. Role
players aren't playing as well as they did, their guards
aren't playing as well. Harper's showing glimpses, Castle showing glimpses
here and there, but like and then Fox, he's showing
glimps but like, we need whole games from you guys
to be able to beat this next team, this rolling

like they we got to have good games from Castle,
from from Harper, coming off the bench, from Fox, all
of those guys, and then you go down the line
of Keldon Johnson Basel like, like all of those guys
need to kind of play well for this team to win.
Because the Knicks are such in a space of their
rolling so much.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
It's tough right.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Now, and it's and we gotta we gotta settle down
as well too, because we got to allow the Spurs
to make their adjustments. So they've they've been able to
get back to the drawing board as a coaching staff,
see what they can can and cannot do with what's
going on in the series, and then go into Game
three tonight and make those adjustments and show that you

can adjust and go from here. So I think there
will be a handful of adjustments. I think the Spurs
will have a better showing. But let's not get it twisted.
The Spurs didn't play bad like that were games they
were up double digits both games at some point in
the game, and then they made that run in Game two,
which that was the Spurs team we've seen in the

Thunder series.

The last four or five.

Minutes where they made that run, they got stopped, they
got out and run and they played fast paced basketball,
which they need to do because they're the youngest team.
We can't see the Spurs in the half court right now,
Like we can't.

I think, you know, it's interesting just speaking on like
adjustments and I think you know how you said with
the role players too, it's been interesting that and I
think Spurs are feeling this, Spurs fans are feeling this.
Myself too, is like, yes, we need the role players
to step up. Wenb conservats a decoy if he's not
hitting these shots. But like I think we wanted a
little bit more out of Fox in the at the

end of the game. You know where you need to
get a bucket, like we've seen Fox do that his
whole career. You need a bucket, you put the balldeer
in Fox in whether it's isolate, whether it's you know,
you know, moving, tiring them out, get get a layup,
Like I don't think we've seen that in the end,
because I think you're right, like this is a young, experience,
inexperienced team. They don't know who to go to. They
they're like, oh, do we got a shack on the team,

We got to pass the shack keep had oh our
shack is shooting midway, you know, mid fade aways, shooting threes,
like Fox, go get an easy bucket, just chip chip chip.
But then you know if they miss at these threes
and all of a sudden, those buckets go back to
the next and they're up ten and they win these games.
That's what I've seen at least, and.

So yeah, and to piggyback that CJ like it's it's real,
like it Fox has to. Like in the Oklahoma series,
Fox anytime they needed a basket, anytime they needed him
to get in the paint and make a play. He
did that this series. And I know throughout the playoffs
he's taking a back seat, whether whether it's by design
or whether that's just how they play. The game has

been played out each and every game. But Fox, go
get in the paint, go make something happen, draw two,
and make plays for others to make things easier. You
can't sit back and let Harper and Castle do it all.
Because obviously they've been able to do that this playoffs.
They need somebody to look at as well. This is
something they've never seen. So yeah, they're playing off just

how good they are and their skill and their mindset,
but they also need somebody to follow, and this team
needs somebody to follow.

In terms of.

Fox, you're that guy. You're that guy. So that's great
what you just how you broke that down, CJ. In
terms of Fox, go go, go and make things happen,
I think you're sitting and waiting a lot to see
what others are gonna do when others are waiting for
you to make stuff happen, and you're capable, like you're
capable of doing those things at a high level, and
we've seen that before, so I think that would be

a good adjustment and I seen him talk about it yesterday.
What adjustments he can make is being there aggressive from
the jump, being aggressive and being the darn Fox we
know from the jump and not just waiting, because I
think that will make everybody else fall in line when
they see him being aggressive on offense and on defense
because he can play defense too. He's a guy that
can get steals as well and cause disruption on that

end as well.

Yeah, and also again shout out to you know these
new guys. Dylan Harper has been impressive. We've seen those
glimpses again. Sometimes it needs to happen towards the end
of the game. But he, you know, he was incredibly impressive,
shown great poise as a rookie in the finals, just
like he looked like he's been there before, especially in
Game one where he just comes on these streaks where

he was the best player on the floor for that
first half in Game one. So it's impressive. If he
calms down, if some of these guys calm down, like
you said, two games against the next they know who
they're playing. They make these adjustments. I think Game three tonight,
this is the game to watch. We're watching all of them,
but like Game three, oh my god, yeah, this is
a must win. This is a must win for the Spurs.

Like Game three in the garden, Harper's back at the crib,
Champagne's back at the crib, like, are you guys gonna
show up and show out? Are the lights gonna be
too bright? You know, we talked about that thing, the lights.
The lights is on. It's time to perform. We we
we need a performance out of the whole group, not
just winby not just you know, you know, Harper or

or or Castle. I think collectively, from start to finish,
we need a we need we need a really good
performance out of the Spurs for the series to change
a little bit, to put some pressure on the Knicks.
The Knicks haven't had pressure all since game what, game three,

only imagine Game three in the NBA Finals. Haven't been
to the finals in what twenty seven years? We've seen

Obviously we know that's gonna stop Game three because you

It's gonna remind us of like an overseas game, you

like yeah, like if the NBA allowed fireworks in there,

used to go to Floyd Mayweather's fights and you're seeing
just everybody right there, right, there and you see the opponent,

all these people in the stands, He's only seen them
on TV. Like that's gonna be the difference. Are you
gonna be starstruck? Are you gonna turn the people you've
seen on TV into the fans of yourself? That's how

watch me, so I gotta put on the show. And
that's the good opportunity that MSG presents. It's gonna be

so locked in to where you can't even if I'm

told them after the game, so like, all of those
things are gonna help. But when the tip off happens,

So it's do or die. It's a must win game
for the Knicks. In the words of Kobe jobs not
finished yet, but the Spurs, you got to hit first
and keep hitting. You got to try to knock them
out in the first half to where it's one of

But we've seen what the Knicks can do when they

were down twenty four in the fourth quarter to the
Cavs in MSG. The energy is electric, bro.

That's that sounds like a losing coach is trying to,

teaching kids, and that's something that at the highest level
they play zone. So why wouldn't we be teaching that
all the way to you know, the lowest level. Yeah,
you don't want to live in a zone. But like
if it's working and the principals are right and the
kids are knowing what to do, that's still teaching the

high on the Spurs. So I haven't gotten your general
sort of feeling what you've seen, how you're feeling can
the Spurs to pull us off. We're also not Spurs fans,
but like that was our predictions, So I'm curious what
you're thinking.

First off, I don't think it's over. I think they
got an up uphill battle to fight. Obviously it's going
to be super tough. The Knicks. Man, the Knicks, you
gotta tip your hat off to the Knicks. Like they
they've showed what are they on the thirteen game winning streak. Yeah,
they've showed, you know, at least the last thirteen games

that they've been the best team in the league. And
we've said this though throughout the season is when the
Knicks are good, they do look like the best team
in the league. And when they aren't, they obviously don't
look that good. And they've man, they've hit it on
the head at the right time.

I don't like, Spurs still had chances to win those
two games, So like, it's not nothing like where you
know there's concern. The only concern is it's gonna be

tough in the sense of how they let game two go,
like you had a real chance to win a game two.

like it's unfortunate that they didn't win a game at home.

their role players. They look like the veteran team. Obviously

right adjustments and not saying the Spurs aren't. But their
lack of experience is hurting them right now. And like
I said a minute ago, I don't think it's over.
Like I know how the NBA playoffs go. I've been
down not in the finals, but I've been down too
old before and lost our two games at home to

the Bulls and then ran off four straight. So I
understand that the series isn't over. But every possession matters. Now,
you know how they say every possession really, but like,
every possession is gonna be magnified. Every possession on both
sides of the floor is gonna be gonna be critical
for a team that's down oh too and lost their

first two games at home, so things are gonna be
you know, things are gonna be difficult. And then just
winning in New York that's gonna be so hard to
do in the finals. So but like I said, I
don't think the series is over. But We're gonna have
to have great performances not only from Winby, but from
his supporting cast as well for.

what you were feeling watching that. You know, he struggled
early in the game. He had a couple of potential
injuries there that were like, oh, no, is this going
to be an issue throughout the series? And man, both
games had just like overcame was the leader ball in
his hand? Hit too crazy? Honestly, it's a shot that
we've seen you do a lot. That's sort of like
(06:08):
bumping and turnament fed fadeaway on on some big guys.
It doesn't like those are the iconic highlights and shots
that we're gonna watch for years to come. But Jalen
has done that in the first two games. So what's
your reaction watching Jalen Brunson sort of really coming to
his own and take leadership and hit crazy big shots
in crunch time.

Man, he has the mindset like his mindset is everything.
He's not afraid of the moment. He doesn't get too
high or too low, whether he's having a good shooting
night or not. Even in the first game, he I
think it was like five or seventeen in the first half,
Like it doesn't really matter when it comes to the
playoffs and you're the league guy, you can't leave any

you know, you can't leave any bullets left, you can't.

And he's doing that, and I think his teammates follow
him when he's the aggressor.

Who has you know, played tremendously and and and and
been able to do multiple things, not just score the ball.
He's been able to defend at a high level and
being able to assist and make plays for others, which
has allowed Jalen Brunton to be strictly in aggressive mode,
scoring mold make plays, molde putting pressure on the defense

every time down and that's allowed the Knicks to be successful.
And then you got to tip your hat off to
all the role players. MIKEL Bridges is having a hell
of a series. Josh Hart is rebounding the ball at.

A high level.

He's doing and doing the little things that they don't
show up in you know, in the in the team
huddle that don't show up in the stat sheet, like
guarded multiple positions. So those guys are just they're clicking
on all cylinders and they they're a team that're like,
this is the definition of playoff basketball, when you want
to play the right way and play at the level

they are at the right time, and.

They're doing that.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Man, So you got to give a shout out to
the head of the snake, who is Jalen Brunson, who
is so even killed. I think it allows everybody else
to be even killed even when he's struggling.

And that's the sign of a superstar.

That's the sign of the league guy on the championship
team where you know the moment isn't too big for him,
and when your best player it has that mindset of
where the moment doesn't get you know, too big for him.

It allows everybody.

Else on that team, that roster, the bench to settle
down and be like, Okay, we're gonna follow his footsteps
and just help fit in where we can and help
where where we can and go from there.

And those guys been doing that.

And then, like I said earlier, you gotta give a
shout out to Mike Brown because those first two games,
I bet the whole the whole world was the first
two games of the playoffs. The whole world was saying
fire Mike Brown, Yeah to two a month later, to
six weeks later. You know, you see as he's a
legend in the fast Joe, he's meeting big still there,

but he doing all of those things. So like that's
how fast things change in professional sports, because this is
what have you done for me lately? Like it could
be a good it could be a tough stretch of
two or three games, and then you could run off
where they haven't lost a game in forty three, forty
five days, whatever the thing is. It's like, this is
what basketball is about at this time of the year, man,

And we got to just keep tipping our hat offs
to the New York Knicks and everything about the Knicks
because they're doing it and they deserve it right now,
they deserve it.

But the series is not over as far from over.

I do also want to shout out you said it before,
Kat who we all we sort of know his number
one attribute is one of the best offensive bigs, one
of the best shooting bigs we've ever seen. But he's
been causing Wenby trouble, and by causing trouble, like Wenby
is still dropping mid twenties, you know, but he hasn't
been able to get down on the post. You know,
if it's not Cat, it's Mitchell Robinson, then it's og.

It's the guys are really playing Wemby well that I
haven't even seen a post game out of Wemby. You know,
he's taking a lot of fatal He's taking a lot
of threes, which is crazy. So what have you noticed
sort of watching like from the Thunder series into this
next series, like how are they playing Wemby differently and
almost like making him look human here?
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yeah, and we could talk about both sides, like with
the with the Thunder series, Wemby didn't have to guard
a shooting big right, so you know they they allow
Wemby to to basically fake guard Check and Isaiah Hernstein
in terms of you don't got to worry about their
three ball as much, so you could protect the paint.
Now this series is a different series. Kat is at

the top of the key. He's got to bring you out. He's,
like you said, he's one of the best offensive bigs
we've seen. He can shoot from deep at a high level,
so you got to respect that. And then when he
drives one thing that I seen with Wemby's doing, He's
closing out so so hard because of the shot because
the Cats.

But then when.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Cat drives, Cat is a lot stronger than him, so
he's putting his weight on him and it's not as
easy for Winby to slow Cat down in terms of
getting to the paint being able to finish. Yes, Winby
is gonna change shots. He's gonna block some shots. But
also when you have a big that's just as long
as him, that that has a little more weight and
(11:23):
strengthen him, as you've seen on Cats drives, he's not
really focused on Weinby, like it's not bothering him to
get his shot. Block are changed every now and then
when he's able to put Winby underneath the basket and finish.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
And then you got a guy like Og as well.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
He had a couple of times where body, the body
he bodied, Winby got it dunk. Those those things take
a toll on you throughout the game, like when you
gotta guard heavy guys, like it's not just you gotta
guard guys on the three point line, your guarden guys
that can drive the lane as well. Your guarden guys
like Mitchell Robinson who in the paint no matter if
(11:59):
he can't do anything outside of the paint. It's a
heavy it's a heavy body on you that's over the
course of a game, is taking a toll on him.
So they're putting different defenders on him as well as
we switch the offense. They're putting different defenders on him,
they're bodying him up, they're making him be more physical
than he wants to. So, as you said, yeah, we're
(12:21):
seeing a post game where he's shooting shooting fadeaways, where
he's shooting more threes because the lanes aren't open for him,
so he's not getting easy baskets like he's used to getting.
And New York has defenders where you know, they could
put different defenders on him, they could show him different
different coverages.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
And then what is being not.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Talked about as well is CJ is the spurngs. Role
players aren't playing as well as they did, their guards
aren't playing as well. Harper's showing glimpses, Castle showing glimpses
here and there, but like and then Fox, he's showing
glimps but like, we need whole games from you guys
to be able to beat this next team, this rolling
(13:05):
like they we got to have good games from Castle,
from from Harper, coming off the bench, from Fox, all
of those guys, and then you go down the line
of Keldon Johnson Basel like, like all of those guys
need to kind of play well for this team to win.
Because the Knicks are such in a space of their
rolling so much.

It's tough right.

Now, and it's and we gotta we gotta settle down
as well too, because we got to allow the Spurs
to make their adjustments. So they've they've been able to
get back to the drawing board as a coaching staff,
see what they can can and cannot do with what's
going on in the series, and then go into Game
three tonight and make those adjustments and show that you

can adjust and go from here. So I think there
will be a handful of adjustments. I think the Spurs
will have a better showing. But let's not get it twisted.
The Spurs didn't play bad like that were games they
were up double digits both games at some point in
the game, and then they made that run in Game two,
which that was the Spurs team we've seen in the

Thunder series.

The last four or five.

Minutes where they made that run, they got stopped, they
got out and run and they played fast paced basketball,
which they need to do because they're the youngest team.
We can't see the Spurs in the half court right now,

I think, you know, it's interesting just speaking on like
adjustments and I think you know how you said with
the role players too, it's been interesting that and I
think Spurs are feeling this, Spurs fans are feeling this.
Myself too, is like, yes, we need the role players
to step up. Wenb conservats a decoy if he's not
hitting these shots. But like I think we wanted a
little bit more out of Fox in the at the

end of the game. You know where you need to
get a bucket, like we've seen Fox do that his
whole career. You need a bucket, you put the balldeer
in Fox in whether it's isolate, whether it's you know,
you know, moving, tiring them out, get get a layup,
Like I don't think we've seen that in the end,
because I think you're right, like this is a young, experience,
inexperienced team. They don't know who to go to. They
they're like, oh, do we got a shack on the team,

We got to pass the shack keep had oh our
shack is shooting midway, you know, mid fade aways, shooting threes,
like Fox, go get an easy bucket, just chip chip chip.
But then you know if they miss at these threes
and all of a sudden, those buckets go back to
the next and they're up ten and they win these games.
That's what I've seen at least, and.

So yeah, and to piggyback that CJ like it's it's real,
like it Fox has to. Like in the Oklahoma series,
Fox anytime they needed a basket, anytime they needed him
to get in the paint and make a play. He
did that this series. And I know throughout the playoffs
he's taking a back seat, whether whether it's by design
or whether that's just how they play. The game has

been played out each and every game. But Fox, go
get in the paint, go make something happen, draw two,
and make plays for others to make things easier. You
can't sit back and let Harper and Castle do it all.
Because obviously they've been able to do that this playoffs.
They need somebody to look at as well. This is
something they've never seen. So yeah, they're playing off just

how good they are and their skill and their mindset,
but they also need somebody to follow, and this team
needs somebody to follow.

Fox, you're that guy. You're that guy. So that's great

terms of Fox, go go, go and make things happen,
I think you're sitting and waiting a lot to see
what others are gonna do when others are waiting for

capable of doing those things at a high level, and
we've seen that before, so I think that would be

a good adjustment and I seen him talk about it yesterday.
What adjustments he can make is being there aggressive from
the jump, being aggressive and being the darn Fox we
know from the jump and not just waiting, because I
think that will make everybody else fall in line when
they see him being aggressive on offense and on defense
because he can play defense too. He's a guy that
can get steals as well and cause disruption on that

end as well.

Yeah, and also again shout out to you know these
new guys. Dylan Harper has been impressive. We've seen those
glimpses again. Sometimes it needs to happen towards the end
of the game. But he, you know, he was incredibly impressive,
shown great poise as a rookie in the finals, just
like he looked like he's been there before, especially in
Game one where he just comes on these streaks where

he was the best player on the floor for that
first half in Game one. So it's impressive. If he
calms down, if some of these guys calm down, like
you said, two games against the next they know who
they're playing. They make these adjustments. I think Game three tonight,
this is the game to watch. We're watching all of them,
but like Game three, oh my god, yeah, this is
a must win. This is a must win for the Spurs.

Like Game three in the garden, Harper's back at the crib,
Champagne's back at the crib, like, are you guys gonna
show up and show out? Are the lights gonna be
too bright? You know, we talked about that thing, the lights.

Applebe's one of them. Yeah, and we was watching the
game and I remember the meltdown. I really thought like
Lebron it was over in terms of like the media

gonna be on his helmet that game, and then they
turned it around. I remember that. That's why I remember
it because I throughout the fourth quarter, I'm like, dang,
this is gonna be tough. I think it's headband fell
off too. It was a lot of stuff that happened
to where it was like, they're gonna be on Lebron's
helmet for not winning this, and then all that happened.

People forget during that moment, those like four years in
the heat, everyone's rude for Lebron to fail that. They
were just like, oh, yeah, he's done. Like you know,
everyone started writing the articles.

my niece is in it. She's like playing au her
first couple of years in there, and she's one of
the best players in the team. So I'm getting texts
all the time for my sister, and she said that
there was a coach on the other team who has

like a reputation for being like a little a little crazy, right,
and they played one three one zone and the coach
got like, I think like rain on the court was like,
you can't play one three one zone. Like my niece
in fourth grade, I didn't know, like I thought I
knew basketball. Is there something against one three one zone
or zone defense?

I mean they this is what especially in the AAU world,
people try to say, you shouldn't be teaching the younger
kids zone defense is making them not understand man the
man defense.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
But it's like at the end of the day, these
are all things.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
That you need to learn at some point. And he
was probably losing. That's probably why he felt that way.
That's that sounds like a losing coach is trying to,
you know, make make excuses. So I've heard that too,
Like I don't like always playing zone, but like there's
there's there's times where like there there's teaching lessons throughout
(40:09):
teaching kids, and that's something that at the highest level
they play zone. So why wouldn't we be teaching that
all the way to you know, the lowest level. Yeah,
you don't want to live in a zone. But like
if it's working and the principals are right and the
kids are knowing what to do, that's still teaching the
right way to play the game of basketball. So, like,
(40:30):
I hate, I do not like when people throw that
out there, like get out the zone, you're team, You're
not teaching kids like we are teaching kids. We're teaching
kids that what they do in high school, what they
do in college, and what they do in the pros.
So I'm always on that, like when when when coaches
are our parents, you know, have a slick remark on
those things.

It's like, come on, now, there's so many dms or whatever,
but like in Facebook posts about that we played this
team or whatever, it's so crazy or dramatic against So
I think it's crazy.

You've been That's why it's like a fine line.

Like I hate it and I love it because I
love the the development of the the of it, but
I hate all the influence the game brings that at
that level, it's just not it's not the right stuff.

that not necessarily gets all the shine.

to the Knicks, the whole organization called players, but a
big shout out, you know, slow grind or No Days

playing their roles all obviously all season long, but all
playoffs long at a high level. And then bridges get
so much, you know, negativity just because of what they.

And he's showing why he's worth, you know, all those
picks and worth what he does on.

You know, they're not talked about a lot, but they
make things happen and we're always looking at those guys
