C.J. and I.T. break down a fun weekend of college hoops (and some coach-on-coach drama) before digging into NBA stories: LeBron will have to power through the playoffs without Luka & Austin Reaves, the Nuggets are looking healthy and ready for battle, and the Giannis situation is at an all-time low in Milwaukee. In addition to No Days Off and trivia, we're also debuting a special new segment on the show this week: Shoe & Tell. I.T. pulls a special pair of shoes off the shelf and tells the unique backstory of why they are part of his legendary collection.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
For your best player to go out, then your second
option to go as well. It's like, dang, the only
thing you still got Lebron James. That's that's what's crazy.
Like you still got Lebron James. It's still about to
be playoff mode. Like obviously he is forty one years old.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
We just need a one vintage Lebron series out of him.
Maybe that's it.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
That's what we don't even care if they gill go
any further than that, Go win you a series, Bron
and just shut everybody up like you always done.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Welcome to another episode of Point Game. We got a
jam packed episode. We're gonna be talking National Championship, We're
talking NBA, We're gonna.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Talk about it.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Man. You just got back from I'm a Crazy trip.
I love seeing all the documentation, all the photos and whatnot.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Tell everyone that you went to Taiwan, right.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Yeah, I was in Taiwan for like six days, went
for some little NBA appearances events on, watched some high
school kids, so it was so it was super dope
to just see kids from around the world on the
same grind, on the same slow grind as everybody else,
and just to you know, be in a different in

(01:28):
a different country and to see that like it was,
it was a dope experience, man, the love and support
that I got. Then we had a park takeover that
was cracking, but they oh it was so many people there.
It was it was really like I had a fun time.
Other than like the travel there, which is thirteen or
fourteen hours, then the fifteen hour time difference. Like, other

(01:52):
than that, everything was super dope, man, Like, I had
a good time. I got to take my family back
to Taiwan one of these days because I was that
was fun.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
How and just because I just want to put myself
in your shoes. How crazy is it to just go
to the other side of the world, I mean one
and just experience that all all that, But then ultimately
you're going with the reason of something you're so familiar
with with basketball and seeing everyone you know, how other
people in the other parts of the world love basketball
just as much as you do, and then show love

(02:21):
for what you've done in your career so far. Like
is that just like mind blowing? Do you pinch yourself?
And does it feel surreal?

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Bro? It's crazy?

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Like it makes me every time I'm in a different
country I'm just super blessed, like I be thanking God,
Like dang, this is like like I get love in
the States for show. Anywhere I go, I'm getting some love,
but like the love I get and support from any
other country I be going to and especially Taiwan, it's crazy, bro,
Like I'm getting to the hotel no matter what time

(02:51):
a night it is, day it is, and there's people
outside waiting like that. That is that's like the kid
in me that just will never leave like that. That's
crazy that you're really waiting for me to take a
picture or an autograph or things like that.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
So like it makes me think like I've done my job.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
The impact that I've been able to give on the
game of basketball and just the game of life. So
many people, you know, did never thought they would see me,
especially in Taiwan.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Like when we did the hoop thing, people were like crying.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
And stuff, like they didn't like it was it was
crazy because it was just I mean, I don't know,
it was genuine, genuine love everywhere I go, but like
that was that makes you sit back and think like dang,
like I've been able to really impact and inspire people
around the world. That you know, didn't think they probably
would ever see me in person or meet me. So

(03:44):
when I have those interactions, it'd be super dope.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Man.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
I'd be like, I really love those as well, Like
I never too cool for those moments, are never too
like big time for any moments like that.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
So that was a dope experience.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
And I'm thankful to NBA, you know, brought me out
there and was able to experience that.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
That's sick, man, dude, that never change man, because I
was even popping on your life on TikTok and you
were just trying to get some food and fans are tapping.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
On the shoulder, you were showing lovers.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
It was like you know us in the States, like
unless you're a big like hoop fan or you know basketball,
like you gotta know who I am, but like the
regular person because I'm short, so I blend in with
everybody like you ain't really knowing who I am. But
like any other country I go to, it don't matter.
Like they're knowing my walk, they're knowing every year. So
that's super like it was. It was a dope experience

(04:33):
and and and I'm just super thankful to be able
to you.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Know, have those.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
You're also you're rocking. I saw the in the park
take over. You're rocking the Sonics shorts and do those
new Kobe's. I was like, oh man, I might have
to get some throat. I might have to just like
get my closet for some old the vintage Sonics gear.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
You got too, because you got all the vintage gear,
like you're looking right, you just got to get some
Sonics a little you know, we need one of these.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
And the son I did have one. I did have.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Okay, I gotta send you. I got I gotta see
one of these and the color. We're gonna do it right.
We're gonna do it right. All that, I'm already thinking
about it. It's the Songics coming back is good for
the merchandise and the gear.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Just brandy NBA fans, So any NBA fan, bro.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Okay, So I wanted to talk.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
I can't believe we haven't talked since a lot of
college basketball obviously has happened.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
We've seen final four national championships.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
So let's let's talk men's first, because that happened last
night yukon Michigan. First of all, did you have any
dog in the fight? What do you think about the outcome?
You know, it was it was a solid game.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
It was solid. I didn't have any dog in a fight.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
We got a we got a local kid on Yukon,
Jalen Stewart. This there has been doing well the last
few years. So I'm always root for, you know, the
local guys, this from the area. But like I said,
like I had Arizona winning at all, yeah, because it
was a West Coast team. But like Michigan is one
of the teams I've seen in person. And when I

(05:59):
seen them come to udub and destroy us, like I
seen they were one of the top teams. They had
every a good player in every position. They're well coached.
They like they were like they were the best team
in the country for sure all year long, I feel like,
and it was it was due for them to win,
Like they had a really good run. So congrats to

(06:20):
those guys, Michigan Wolverines. My guy Jamal Crawford is a
former Michigan guy, so shout out to Jamal Crawford, Fab five,
all those guys. So, yeah, we watched the game. It
was it was solid. It was a solid game.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
It was competitive for a minute but then I think,
you know Michigan man, that it's just like every dude
on the floor was it felt like over six eight,
like Yukon just couldn't get some shots up, like they
had to shoot floaters on these guys.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
It was.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
It was crazy.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
See.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
You know what's crazy myself asking he likes Michigan so much,
He like, you think Michigan could be the weakest NBA team.
I'm like, I'm like, fam, don't don't ever, don't ever,
don't ever ask me that question again.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
I don't care if it's the best college team that
ever play, they're not beating the worst NBA team ever.
So like we had that conversation at dinners and it
was good dialogue, but I had to I had to
calm him down a little bit.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
Bro. I'm like, don't do that one. Don't do that one.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
But that is that.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
I remember having those same thoughts as a kid, like
because you end up you watch these NBA games and
if you're real Hoo fans, you watch those bad teams
in the NBA and you're like, man, they look bad.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Are you think you the best coach team could beat them?

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Like I remember having those thoughts, but you just it's
it's level, it's levels levels to it.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
But I used to have those thoughts too, Like when
I was in high school or in college, I think
maybe our team can beat the worst.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Team in the league.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Like you, you think those things, but then when you
when you're head up against those guys, you understand how
how good they really are. They're just in a tough
situation to where their teams not good. But there ain't
no college team that's like high school. There ain't no
high school team beating the worst college team. There ain't
no college team beating the worst NBA team. There's levels
to it.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Okay, let's talk to women's side now.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Obviously, Well, I want to talk about the National Championship game,
but I did also want to talk about it was
you know, he did two legends yukon South Carolina. I
gotta I gotta ask you what you thought of the
Gino and Don interaction after that game. There are some
words exchange. I think Gino was the one who started it.
What was your reaction seeing that? What's your take? I mean,

(08:26):
I think we have respect for both coaches, but man,
I think we all kind of feel someone's in the
wrong there.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Yeah, he's in the wrong for show. We have respect
for both.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Gino is the best college basketball coach ever, especially on
the women's side. And then I got a doctor coming up,
so I ain't gonna say too much because he might
be there and she might want to hunt and I
need that connection. But that was wrong in all in
in every way possible, that was just not right. Like
obviously emotions, emotions are high. It's a competitive game against

(08:59):
two of the best college coaches to ever coach. But
to be someone like him and his shoes, you can't
do that, like, no matter what it is, like you
might can talk your little mess when you get to
the locker room, or you might not like this coach
or this coaching staff. But it's always been respect win
loser draw from Don Staley for sure, from what I've seen,

(09:21):
and from coach Geno, like from even way back in time,
like I've only seen him respect other teams, other coaches,
other players. But that was just a bad moment, And
I was upset about the apology too. It's like, you're
going to do that in a national interview on national TV,
then I think you shall apologize in front of the

(09:41):
national News just like you did that because Don Staley
deserves that respect. The South Carolina team deserves that respect
on beating them, and you just can't do that. But
at the end of the day, everybody makes mistakes, everybody
has their moment. He's never had one of those like that.
So I just think that was that was wrong on
all all fronts. And he just someone who is so

(10:04):
respected at the top of the top of the list.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
When it comes to coaches.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
That's like coach k doing that, like you can't you
just can't allow that, and that's not right. And I'm
glad you brought that up because we need to speak
on that and and right is right and wrong is
wrong and that was wrong, and yeah, and you know,
in the in the in the heat of the moment,
you never know what can happen. I've done some stuff
throughout my career when I was young, when I was
older that that I wanted to take back or regret,

(10:31):
and that was probably one of them moments where he
just I wish the apology was as loud as the
disrespect was.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Right right now, I think it was just shocking, like
you said, like, we don't know Geno to be that
guy and then to hear the explanation you know he
had was the pregame.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
It's like reaching, it was like, you're real, you know,
you can't.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
That just was a bad little take and I and
I'm glad obviously, you know how the news is like
it's always onto the next but it's like, man, that
was that was a nasty moment for especially a team
who beat i mean, the best team in the country
this year before all that happened.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
So yeah, okay, well so then then South Carolina moved
on to play u C. L A, who you know,
always always a solid squad there. I think, you know,
Lauren Bett's Kiki Rice. Like, I was actually surprised by
Gabriela Hawkez if you watch that game, her game obviously
she her brother him Hawkez on the heat. So I

(11:28):
think people were just finding that out in the moment there.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
That's crazy too, but I knew that just being a
basketball fan. But like shout out the Brothers, cold to
the Brothers called too, so.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Yeah, yeah, yeah for show.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
But I was impressed. I mean just you know, I
actually went in the game.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Thing in South Carolina was gonna take it, you know,
obviously with John Staley. That team just a storied franchise.
But UCLA they didn't. They put it away quick.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Oh and for their first championship ever.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
That sounds crazy coming from UCLA, But yeah, I had
I had South Carolina winning it and u CLA really
just you know, dominated the game. U CLA was like
the best team that day and they deserved it.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
Like the shout out to their coach as well.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
I'm a big like, I follow all coaches, especially now
that I coach the boys and stuff. Her quotes and
the things that she says is on point every time.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
Bro and and.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
And it's it's it's well deserving of that team. They've
been fighting and battling all year. I definitely wanted to
see South Carolina win it. But but u c l
A and then them Jordan's schools fam Jordan two Jordan
Brand schools win the national championship.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
That's I mean, that's a yeah Jordan again. He just
they try to represent winners. And the fact that both
of them, like you see on the internet or social
media when they put it the celebration, you're like, oh,
both Jordan squads.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Oh, it's crazy, and they be having Jordan Brand be
having the dopest like commercials and like like stuff right
after they win, Like right after that dude wins m
v P or or or has a hell of a game,
like they'd be having the dopest layout.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Bro So shout out to brand jordans Man.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
I forgot the one guy. He was rocking retros to
the whole tournament. I mean maybe even the whole season teams.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
He was wearing those.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Last night. I was like, I didn't know when you
could still play in these.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Man, You're you're playing in bricks. You're not like they
used to look. See he's forcing that every time they
look good. They look amazing. But every hooper that knows
you're wearing any retros, those like, no disrespect to m
J fan, those like bricks. Now you can't you can't

(13:43):
move in them. But you all see no little guard
wearing the retros. And little Guard got to be able
to move.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
A little bit.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
But I don't know where we need to get. And
I've worked with Nike. They've been great to me too,
and they've been great to you. But like he's like
the protro for anyone listening. The term protra, which we
see in the Kobe line means that it is updated
for today's performance.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
You need that.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
We need that. Why is that not not gone to
the Georgiana.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Look, it's crazy because all the like pictures, like especially
younger guys now when they see my college pictures, right, Like,
I'm in Jays all the time. The fours, the threes,
it didn't matter, the tens eleven sometimes, I mean all
of those and they're like, man, how are you. I'm
like I was forcing it because they were the hottest

(14:30):
shoe out So like I'm wearing that no matter what.
But we gotta get Brand Jordan to do the protow bro.
It's like, we need these, these shoes need to be
on the court.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
They need to be seen. They're too legendary and they're
too dope.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
They're just they're just heavy now, They're just heavy and
like stiff and all of that.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
It's I mean, I wear like a pair of fours
to Disneyland or something that all day.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
My feet are just hurting, but it looks good.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
I were the force to Taiwan.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
You had those.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
I saw you had those like the Nigel, like the
Ya those are kind of company.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Yeah, that was ar comfortable. You can't wear Jays for how.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Long time Jordan put us on the squad.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
We got, we got ideas, the whole one, all that, bro,
we could, We'll do all that.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
We just need the gear. We just need the gear
and the shoes.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
All right, we'll take a break here. When we come back,
we got some NBA stuff coming up, and we'll be
back here on point game. All right, back here on
point game. N b A is heating up. We're about
to be in the playoffs. But and I hate bringing
up the Lakers because it seems like I'm a homer

(15:44):
on this stuff. But some serious stuff happened.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
I knew.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
I think I mentioned it before in the pod, like
I knew not to get tricked by a Lakers streak
happening late in the season, because.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
I feel like you got jinks.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Luca and Austin both both it was both announced that
are both out for the remainder of the regular season
and likely going into the playoffs. I t did you
believe in their chances going on playoffs?

Speaker 3 (16:07):
And what you know?

Speaker 2 (16:09):
We talked about injury a lot, but like how devastating
is this for the player themselves?

Speaker 3 (16:12):
And obviously Lakers fans.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
Their hurts fan.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
I'm a Laker fan too, So it hurts because they
was hitting their stride too. Like Luka obviously was playing well.
The team seemed like they was a little more connected
than they have been, and they were. They were playing
really well. So like for your best player to go out,
then your second option to go as well, it's like, dang,
the only thing you still got Lebron James. Like that

(16:39):
that's what's crazy, Like you still got Lebron James. It's
still about to be playoff mode. Like obviously he is
forty one years old. Who knows what he can give,
you know, give the Lakers day in and day out.
But like, man, that's just a tough, tough stretch, bro,
But you don't want thing idea Right when that happened,

(17:00):
I hit my agent up, like you need to tap
into the Lakers. They need a little playmaker for five
six games, bro.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
I do that.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
Then I come back to the crib coach my kids.
I'm not even trying to take up no room. I'm
just trying to help help until the guys get back,
you feel me. So yeah, it's tough, man. It's tough
because they were looking really good. They've been They've been
messing really well. They've been winning, they've been playing at
a high level. But for those injuries and for Luca

(17:30):
to have a hamstring injury, y'all know how long that's
gonna take. And you gotta be caution about that because
that can linger for so long, as we've seen with
other guys in the NBA with coming back a little
early lingering, and it just continues to mess with you.
And then for for Austin Reeves, it's it's a tough,
unfortunate situation, Like it really does suck for what they

(17:53):
what they got going on this past week.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Man.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Yeah, there's there's a bunch of different just levels to
this of like Austin every time he's hit the floor
this year, he's obviously gone crazy, made himself essentially the
second option here. Also in that win streak, which was
really kind of exciting to me, indifferent than the last
time last few times the Lakers sort of went on
the streak, was that I think Lebron truly found out

(18:16):
how to be or figured out how to be a
role player. Obviously he's an incredible facilitator, but I just
felt like he wasn't forcing shots.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
The whole team wasn't watching him Iso and.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
Luca was putting up forty plus every night, and you know,
now we're like you said in the beginning, it's like
we're left with Lebron James. Hey, that's not that bad,
but it's a forty one year old Lebron James. But
to me, if we're looking at this like it's a movie,
here's your opportunity to Lebron like.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
He's and he's answered everything his whole life, his whole career.
So I wouldn't put it pass if he puts some
on his back as being the third option all year,
not playing all the time, like reallyking care of his body.
Obviously we know he does that, but you never know, Man,
we've seen some crazy stuff from Bron.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
I don't think without those other two guys. I think
Bron can win a series by himself, for sure, but
I don't think they can make real noise that winning
the championship without without their hitters out there, man, especially Luca,
that that's going to be a tough deal.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
A tough deal.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
And we talked about to rushing back, like there's reports
that Luca he's going overseas for the treatment.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Yeah, I get it, Like I get how bad you
want to be out there.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
The hamstring is just tough, man Like, that's one of
the toughest injuries, especially for a guy that's stepping back side, steping, moving, cutting,
all those things. It's like, man, you you don't want
to rush this and then be out the whole summer,
right that that's going to be that that'd be an
unfortunate situation.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
So I know they're going to do what's right for him.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
I know his team is going to do what's right
for him, and hopefully we could see him out there
in the playoffs, him and Austin Reeves. Man, But shout
out to those guys, you know, praying for him. Hopefully
they get back sooner rather than later.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
We just need a one vintage Lebron series out of him.
Maybe that's it.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
That's what we don't even care if they get go
any further than that. Go win you a series, Brian,
and just shut everybody up like you always done.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
One team that they played recently, the Dallas Mavericks where
Luca came from, obviously, and Cooper Flag who we've been
telling it's not I don't think it's news to anyone
that he is good, but he dropped fifty one. I
think he's exceeded what anyone thought he was gonna be.
He just he from the second he started playing this year,
just looked at NBA ready and dropping fifty point games.

(20:43):
I think he's the youngest rookie ever to score fifty
to fifty.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
Points in the NBA game. Any surprises there with Cooper.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Man.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
We knew he had a game. Yeah, we knew he.
We knew he That's why he was the number one
pick there. I don't think there's no surprises. Actually, the
only surprise for me is how comfortable he is right now.
Like it's amazing, Like he looks like he's a vet
from the beginning of the year to now. And obviously
there's gonna be changed and he's going to get more comfortable.

(21:14):
But remember when they had him at the point and
everybody was like not struggling everybody. It's like, Jason Kidd
knows what he's doing when it comes to this type
of stuff. He's done it before. Yeah, not right away
in terms of the success that everybody wants to see
from a number one pick, but what he's doing now.
I had Konka Nipple winning the Rookie of the Year

(21:35):
show I did, and not like it's over, but it's
like he's he's making a push push.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
And it was like one A, one B.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
It wasn't like it was far off, but like fifty
point game. And then like all the things he's doing
the last two weeks has been Man, I can't even
say I'm surprised because, like if you watch a real game,
it's all in the flow. He's taking the shots he's
supposed to take. He's slashing to the basket, he's defending
at a high level, he's finishing at the rim. He's

(22:06):
doing a little bit of everything. Just imagine when mister
Kyrie Irvin comes back.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
No, I mean, I guess Mas fans shouldn't have been sad.
They Yes, they got rid of Luca.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
Cj oh, Hold up, hold up, hold up, family. It
don't matter if Luke, It don't matter if if if
Cooper Flag wins MVP ten times in a row, they're
the Dallas Mavericks fan is bringing up Luca no matter what.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
I know.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
I know it's like this that hurts, but Cooper Flag
is not a bad consolation makes you smile for Suan.
You're not You're not. You're not that upset. You're not
that upset. You're upset that. Yeah, you guys threw all
that away and then then really get nothing out of
it other than obviously the number one pick. But it's

(22:56):
like a couple of years, you a couple couple more years,
you might you might not really be thinking about the Luca.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
All I'm saying is if they if they may, if
they make a conference finals in the next three yards,
gotta give Nico his job back.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
I'm gonna get killed.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
I know you're not. We gotta like that something.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
There's gotta be some sort of just like squash the beef. Yes,
Nico maybe didn't know they're gonna get Cooper Flagg, but.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
Man, just tell Nico thank you.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
In a couple of years, if it changes around, and
like you said, they get to a conference tournament, a
conference finals, they get to an NBA finals, Cooper Flag
is up for MV all those things, you gotta just
be like, Okay, we we gotta, we gotta forgive Nico
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Just don't go up to him in public when he's
like outing about that ship.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
I don't like that at either.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
I don't see that that's like when the fan is
just they got your phone and you want to It's like,
you don't do that.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
Guys are human, bro don't. Don't. Nobody's coming to your.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
Job with a phone with the camera up with with
with talking a little bit of ship here and there.
Nobody's doing that. Brot Let a human be a human
at the end of the day.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
All right.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
Moved on to a couple other Western Conference teams.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
We saw Jokich versus Webbin Yama recently, and I know
we've talked about a lot here how much we love
the Spurs team, how we're you know, maybe it's a
wild guess or we think that the Spurs could really
win it this year, but I think we did forget
a little bit about what the Nuggets can do. You know,
with Jokich's Yo Kich's I think, hands down one of
the greatest players in the last you know, five to

(24:27):
ten years. He went at them, They were going at
each other. Yokich was almost like, why'd you guys forget
about us? Because he was hitting fadeaways. He was past
like crazy, out out of this world passes any any
new realizations coming from that? Is that going to be
the series, like all the whole playoffs that they if
they up end up playing against each other.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Look, nobody want to run into Denver, no matter how
they season been, no matter what the ups and downs
they've had since Yokers came back. Nobody wants to run
into a seven game series with Joker and the Denver Nuggets,
especially how Jamal Murray's playing Aaron Gordon. Those guys get back.
They already won a championship. That's what I'm saying. They

(25:07):
already won a championship. They know what it takes. Then
you got Joker. So that game against the Spurs was like,
don't forget about this over here, three time MVP. Don't
don't don't don't do that, don't disrespect us or write
us off that quick. So yeah, any team in the league,
especially the Western Conference, nobody wants to run into Denver

(25:27):
for a playoff series. I don't care how special Okase
he's doing, how amazing the Spurs being since the All
Star Break and I and I got the Spurs winning it.
I just know from a hoophead and being in them
locker rooms and playing against those guys, that's a tough series.
You're gonna You're gonna have to play amazing to beat

(25:47):
to beat the Denver Nuggets in a playoff series, no
matter who you are. So yeah, we can't turn the
cheek on on the Nuggets. They're they're doing their thing.
They're they're they're they're rolling right now. They're playing a
little better, they're getting more healthy. It's a scary situation
if you got run into them early.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Yeah, I mean that's the thing is, like the West
is the West is pretty jam packed, like.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
The the East is.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
We feel like, you know, I mean, we cade might
come back and you know, the Pistons make it out
of the way, but like, I don't know, the West
seems hard to beat. It's to me, I think it's
gotta be okay see Spurs or now Nuggets, but you
know the Wolves.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
Its interesting when the West is winning it for sure.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
You know there there Like the East, you got two
or three teams maybe they fight against each other, but
the West is like that. That's why you got to
these last few games. You gotta worry about who you're
about to match up with. There'd be some teams trying
to lose a couple of games, trying to win a
couple of games, just to get away from bad matchups
because you know, as the NBA, as the playoffs come,

(26:49):
it's all about matchups.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Yeah, okay, one other player I didn't want to talk about.
It kind of goes back to what we were talking
about before with with injuries. Just I feel like this
is so much crazy stuff having NBA that this has
kind of been buried a little bit, and we talked
about it, Yannis, you know, will he stay?

Speaker 4 (27:05):
Will it?

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Does he want to stay? Will they trade him?

Speaker 2 (27:07):
But something interesting is going on over there where the
Bucks are trying to shut him down.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
Yeah, he's at it there. I don't know what's for sure.
That thing is weird, bro.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
Why are they dragging it out like this? Why are like,
now it's official, you can't go back. I mean, you
can't stay on this squad.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
It's too much going on. He's saying he want to play,
they saying he's not clear. It's like but by the deadline,
he's saying he want to stay, but then they saying
he's saying he want to get traded.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
It's so much back and forth.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Just imagine all the stuff that's happening behind the scenes
that we don't know about. Like it's just a lot,
and that team's just not good enough. And the point
in his career right now, it's like there's no time
to rebuild, there's no time to miss the playoffs and
and do these things. It's like now we're just wasting
years of his greatness. So I hope hopefully they figure

(27:58):
it out. BRO. Something happen is this offseason, whether it
be in the in the draft, or our free agency.
He needs he needs to change of scenery, Like you
want a championship there, you want MVP there, You've done
everything you could. It's it's showing that something needs to change.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
CJ.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
It's showing like on all fronts, they're just not where
he wants them to be. And I don't think they're
there there. Their connection is is like it used to be.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
Yeah, I mean this honestly, and we'll see how it
shakes out. But this is sort of the reason why
teams uh will trade superstars when fans think it's a
little bit too premature, like it can really build up.
And this is getting to worst case scenario aspect where
the Bucks franchise, their reputation is just and granted they
they've made some missteps in the last few years with

(28:46):
coaches and whatnot, and and just like how they dealt
with things. But Jannis could end up walking if they
don't do.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Something man and that, and that would hurt. Yeah, that's
when the fan is like, what are we doing? Like,
let's at least while he's here, let's get some great
pieces to build for the future. Are you going to
be in a lose lose situation where you lose out
and then now you're rebuilding for ten years and nobody
wants to go there.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
That's that's not it at all.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Yeah, all right, Well, we'll take a break here when
we come back. We've been having some success and some
fun it with some games. Some trivia games are really
test your hoop knowledge. So when we come back, we'll
introduce a few more games here to play here on
point game. All right, Time for the Draft Kings Sportsbook segment.

(29:40):
As we finish out the regular season this week, there
are three favorites to win the NBA title. Okay, See
is plus one twenty, Boston is plus five hundred, and
the Spurs are plus five point fifty in the Draft
Kings Sportsbook app So it you said it before, you
think the Spurs are taking it. You standing by that? Yeah,
I'm standing by that, bro.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
Even though like that, that'd be dope to see a new, new,
up and coming team tape the championship, But they're definitely
the most dominant team right now, So I'm I got
the Spurs winning that bag.

Speaker 2 (30:06):

On a previous episode, we played a game where it

(31:33):
we asked you if you knew what colleges your previous
teammates played on, and you just crushed it. I was
embarrassed that we I was like, this is too easy,
and then you had to go and say that we
don't even need to do your teammates.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
We can just do random NBA players.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
So yeah, you could do random.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
The only thing I'm gonna say, Okay, new NBA players,
that's gonna be tough.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
But I I don't think they're new, see Okay, I
would say these are like if we're talking in like
Hollywood terms, these are like A and B list.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
Okay, Okay, if.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
There's some C list on here.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
But I feel like you this era, you're definitely gonna
know this is the era that we came up on
and who you played with. Okay, So well, all right,
we'll start out. We'll start with Steve Francis Maryland. Steve
that the franchise. Okay, Seawn Marion U n l V

(32:27):
Shawn and shout out Sean Marion. I went to Michael
Jordan camp once when I was a kid, and he
was my counselor.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
I remember he was Okay, Josh Howard.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
Josh Howard went to wake Ford Man this, I don't
think Jordan for a little bit.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Okay, Robert Ory, that's all.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
That's a tough one, Robert or dang hold up, hold up, Robert.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
I have to remind myself every every few years that
he Alabama. There it is. That's okay, tell me what
was your thinking? How did you get there?

Speaker 1 (33:07):
I was thinking it was a white and red team,
though like I knew that, I didn't.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
I didn't know. I was gonna say Arkansas, but.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Because he's from he's from there, so I knew he's
from and I knew he was from the South for sure.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
Okay, this is all right. If you got this one,
you might have this whole list un lock. All right, PJ. Brown,
I don't have the hold up, Levey, just think PJ. Brown.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
I didn't know this. Our producer put this together, but
I didn't know PJ.

Speaker 4 (33:34):
Brown.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
He seemed like I don't know Purdue or something. No Ah,
that's fasty, I don't know PJ.

Speaker 4 (33:40):
Brown.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Louisianattack.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
See that's a tough one. There are only a few
people went to Louisiana Tech.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Okay, all right, Alonzo morning. I feel like we'll get
back on the track here.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
George, let's go Nazi Mohammad Kentucky.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
Yep. He was, Yeah, he was.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
He was a star over there, he was. He was.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
Okay, well you want you want to you want a
hard one?

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Yeah, okay, this is I feel like this is a
name that only hoopers know because he is like a characteristic.

Speaker 3 (34:13):
I'm just gonna say, Jason Capono.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
U c l a fan. He used to have Kobe's
is the he used to wear the gray ones.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
They were like that, you know, they came out in yellowy, gray, white, black.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
I remember Jason.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
Just from that era. Or you were a fan, and
that's saying tack ten.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
Yeah he was. He was good.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
Okay, Eddie House.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
Arizona State. He had that sixty point game in the
in college.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Okay, this is easy one. Mike Miller, Florida. Okay, here's
a here's an older name. Here's an older name. Brent Barry,
big analysts. Now obviously Brent Barry is all the Berryes,
John Barry, Brent.

Speaker 3 (34:55):
Berry Pacific Northwest.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
That area, Oh, Oregon State. There you go.

Speaker 3 (35:00):
Okay, how did you get How did you connect that?

Speaker 1 (35:02):
When you said that, that's when I just thought of
a jersey he was in. I didn't before you said that.
Thank you for that.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
Yeah, I didn't even think of Oregon State.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
I didn't want you to forget.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
That was perfect. Thank you for that.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
All right, Marcus Camby, you Mass there you go with Caliperry.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Uh oh, I like this name. Michael Red.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
Oh my good, Michael Red.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
We got to have Michael Red on the show.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
We do Lefty and he scored fifty in the league,
sixty sixty.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
He was a pure score. As we talked.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
About, that's that's a tough Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
I'm tripping, but it is tough because it's like, nah
had a bigger NBA.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
Yeah, I kind of know that one. Ah, that hurt
me right there.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
All right, let's see, I'm gonna do speed round here
because you're gonna know these ones. Mike Bibbie, Arizona Rip,
Hamilton Yukon, Chris Bosh Georgia Tech yep, how about Zach
Randolph Michigan State?

Speaker 4 (36:09):
All right?

Speaker 2 (36:10):
And on the on a hard one because man, honestly,
I didn't watch much of this guy's game, but old
school Eric Dampier.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
Yeah, Eric, damn, that's a tough one.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Bro.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
I ain't got that one either.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
South South Southern South Carolina, Mississippi state seat our producer.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
I mean that that was that was that was tough.
So I got what three wrong?

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Then you got three wrong? And honestly those were those were.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
Yeah, I wouldn't I'm mad about the Michael Real one.
I should know that Lefty too, I should know that.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
Yeah, he was us dope again.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
Any young viewers go watch Michael Red. He's been dropping
some some knowledge on.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
The I'll be seeing them on social every now and
then talking the game.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
That's good with him for sure.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Okay, this segment I'm excited about. We obviously both sneakers.
You got a crazy, crazy background. This is the only
I think a part of your collection.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
Yeah, this is just a little part.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
So I've been wanting to ask you to just tell
us stories, tell us a little bit more about your
fandom and origin stories. So we're coming up with this
segment that we're premiering on this show right now called
Shoe and Tell.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
So I t I'm gonna ask you in this in
this segment to.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Pull a pair off the shelf, any pair, and just
tell us a quick story into.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Background on it.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
All right, I'm gonna pull I'm gonna pull some Nikes,
some Kobe's obviously.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
Okay, these is these is?

Speaker 1 (37:34):
These is a Kobe that I This is my pe
that came out in stores when I was on the
Cleveland Cavaliers. And it's crazy because I didn't even know
this was coming.

Speaker 4 (37:45):
I didn't.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
This was a surprise like they would send me my
pees with the with there were different calves colors, but
this is the one that came out in in stores
and the details of it is this little Nike sign
is for how little I am, right this little Nike sign.
And then this is Sonics colors like the not the

(38:09):
old school colors, but when they changed their jersey to
the green, like darker green, a little.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
Bit of gold and that like red that mid nineties.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
And then if you can see which we'll probably show,
there's a chip on there right on this for the
tooth that I lost in the playoffs the year before that.

Speaker 4 (38:30):
So and then the the insol has the.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
Space needle, which is obviously in the state of Washington
as well. So this is this is a dope shoe
that was a surprise to me in my Cleveland days.
You know, Cleveland days were a little tough for me,
but I definitely had the heat on my feet.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
And this is something that's super cool.

Speaker 1 (38:49):
These are called the Mighty Its, and Kobe gave me
that nickname, Mighty It and yeah, these is. So as
we do this weekend and week out, I'll make sure
I have some little exclusive shoes. Well, I just want
to reiterate them.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
I want to reiterate to people because Kobe's were like
back then, you were one of the early, the early
like Kobe fan and like pees weren't.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
Just being handed out.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
Back then, nah, not like they are now.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
Yeah, those were made available to the public, so people
nanke knew like you had some heat behind you.

Speaker 4 (39:23):
Nah.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
It was super dope because the original like Team Kobe.
I remember when they when they brought it to us.
It was me, Devin Booker and DeMar Derosen and I
remember them coming on one coming to my house in
the summer, right and bringing this little booklet and had
all the Kobe layout of what I was gonna wear
the next season, different colors I can pick from. Like,

(39:44):
it was the dopest thing ever that these type of
stories like I dreamed of and not even dreamed of.
Like as a kid, you don't know how shoe companies work,
you don't know how people designed their shoes. So this
was the closest thing to me designing the shoe. And
I was able to do this on Reebok too when
I was signed with Rebok my first three years. But
to do this and it be for Kobe and the

(40:06):
Nike people to come to my house and we really
be picking out colors. This is what you're gonna wear
for All Star next year. This is what you're gonna wear.
At the beginning of the year, it was like it
was the dopest thing ever, just because not only I'm
one of the biggest Kobe fans, but to be able
to create my own like signature colorway on a Kobe,
my favorite player ever. Like those type of moments are

(40:29):
like the kid moments that I always talk to you about,
Like I'm never gonna get too old for those.

Speaker 4 (40:33):
So when I when I.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Be saving all these shoes for when you know my
sons get filthy enough to wear them. Yeah, because my
oldest son be trying to wear my Kobe's now. But
I tell them, there's you're just not You're not good enough.
You have to wear the signature Kobe's. I give you
the ones to come out in store. But like the Pees,
you gotta go ahead and drop a fifty piece to
be able to wear one of my Pees fan and

(40:56):
he'd be hating on me, but that's the goal, Like
kill them and you can wear any of my little
exclusive Kobies.

Speaker 4 (41:03):
You want, bro, that's dope.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
I used to I used to tell my dad when
I wanted a pair of sneakers. I was like, oh, Dad,
I think you need a new pair of sneakers. We
got to go out and get them, so I remember,
and actually they're coming back out again. But the Jordan
eleven lows when they came out with the white and
reds and the North Carolina ones came on this yeah,
and I was like, oh, you should get the white
baby blue, and then I.

Speaker 3 (41:22):
Like held the red in front of him. I was like, oh,
these look cool.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
He got those right now. The white and red and
the white and baby blue.

Speaker 3 (41:30):
Those are some of my favorites.

Speaker 4 (41:31):
Ah Man memories with the shoes.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
Yeah, but my dad, my dad was like, I'll get them,
and he rocked them a little bit, but then he
ultimately the.

Speaker 1 (41:38):
Good thing about me, like growing up, my dad was
wearing some exclusive Jay and some Jays too.

Speaker 4 (41:42):
Really, if he.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
Was getting them, more than likely he might get me
a pair if there was a special occasion.

Speaker 4 (41:49):
But my dad was always he always had his feet
right too. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (41:52):
That's the thing though, I think I like that you're
doing that with your kids, Like you got to earn
these things.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
Oh yeah, yes, he can afford them.

Speaker 1 (41:58):
But like you know, he's day yesterday, it was so
funny yesterday, I gotta I got. I got a room
strictly for Kobe's like, and I got a lock on it,
so like nobody goes in there. He was asking yesterday, yes, Sda,
can I just see the Kobe room please?

Speaker 4 (42:13):
I'm like, have you dropped fifty yet? Okay, then so.

Speaker 1 (42:17):
You can't see that until you drop fifty, and when
you do, you can go in there and you can pick.
I got, I got shoes saved for you. My career,
unless somebody give me an opportunity, My career is, you know,
is towards the end. So I don't really need these
kicks like that no more so, I just be making
sure they got to work for something.

Speaker 4 (42:36):
Still, you ain't just getting the exclusives at all.

Speaker 2 (42:38):
Well, I'm room for I was already room for them.
But man, go off, score fifty and go in. When
you get in there, grab.

Speaker 3 (42:44):
A walk out.

Speaker 4 (42:47):
I know once I once I let them in there,
it's over. It's over.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
That's dope, man. Well appreciate you sharing that story.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
Okay, we want to end the episode like we always
do with a special segment called No Day's Off. Not
a player that not necessarily is getting the love and
attention that we think they deserve because they've been hooping
on court.

Speaker 3 (43:06):
So who do we got for this week's no Days Off?

Speaker 1 (43:09):
No Days Off shout out? I'm gonna go with Jeremiah
Fears over there with the Pelicans. I've been watching him
the last couple of weeks, bro And usually what happens,
especially with rookies, towards the end of the season, they
start to get a little more comfortable, they're getting more
of an opportunity, they're playing a lot more, and I
see that with him. And you know, the hardest thing
for any position coming into the league is the point

(43:30):
guard position. The guard position where you not only have
to figure out how you get yourself off, but you
got to get your teammates off as well. And that's
a hard thing to do for a guy that's a
score and a playmaker as well, and he's been doing
a great job of that. Like last week he had
twenty nine I forgot his stat line, but the biggest
thing he had with zero turnovers, and he played a
lot of the game, so that's something that I see

(43:53):
as a point guard and as a coach now, and
we want to give him his flowers. Jeremiah Fears, Shout
out to you, someone who has the ultimate hoop game.

Speaker 4 (44:03):
Can play on the.

Speaker 1 (44:05):
Outside at the cement, can play in LA fitness, can
play NBA arenas one of the most talented young and
up and coming stars in the league. Shout out to
you on our no days off, bro, keep going, keep
doing your thing.

Speaker 4 (44:20):
You know the guys over here we're watching. We're watching.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
Hey, coldest jersey ever, Zero Fears.

Speaker 1 (44:29):
I'm running with that. That is that is hard, Zero Fears.
I did even look at it like that.

Speaker 4 (44:34):
That's dope.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
CJ show, all right, it playoffs around the corner. Tell
the people they gotta tap in with us. If you
go watch some old episodes, you're dropping stories. We're dropping stories.
But basketball is really gonna start to matter in the
NBA with the playoffs starting, So any departing words for
viewers and our fans listening.

Speaker 1 (44:53):
Nah, this is when basketball really matters. This is the
dopest time of the year. This is when we see
the stars be the stars. We see, you know, a
guy that probably don't have an opportunity like that really
become a star in the playoffs. So like, I'm excited,
I think the hoop world is excited, and you know
we're going to be chopping it up every week about
the game. So chap in with us and let us

(45:15):
know what you want to hear, let us know stories
you want to hear us speak about, and then we'll
just keep bringing the heat to you.

Speaker 3 (45:22):
Well said. All right, this has been an episode of
the Point Game. We'll see you guys next week.
