Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hey everyone, Welcome the Monday's Morbid Minute. This is your
quick crundown of the week's most fascinating stories involving death, disease,
medicine and injury, making headlines and rippling through the pop culture.
We'll tease the cases here, then do a deep dive
into the pathology, forensics, and medical mysteries later in our
Normal Mother Knows Death episodes, in articles over in the
(00:27):
Gross Room, and during our weekly YouTube live bonus episode
exclusively for Grossroom members. If it's dark, disturbing, medically bizarre,
or just too good not to dissect, you'll hear it
first on Monday's Morbid Minute. In true crime and court cases,
(00:50):

is that her three sons submitted statements saying they feared
she could hurt them if she were ever released. Prosecutors

(04:09):
drove around the unconscious victim, and fled. Hernandez Mendoza later
died during surgery after suffering spinal and pelvic fractures and
uncontrolled bleeding from his spleen. Woman gives birth in Brooklyn
courtroom during arraignment. A thirty three year old woman named
Samantha Randezzo gave birth to a baby boy in a
(04:32):
Brooklyn courtroom during her arrangement. She had been arrested the
day before on alleged drug possession and trespassing charges. Public
defender organizations claimed she delivered without adequate medical care, privacy,
or dignity after spending more than twenty four hours in custody,
while her attorney gave a different account, saying court officers
(04:52):
helped and the courtroom was cleared. NYPD told People magazine
that she had been taken to kne The Island Hospital
earlier that day and was discharged before being transported to court,
where she gave birth just before midnight. Alabama woman says

ignored her after her water broke and that she had
given birth on the jail floor with help from fellow inmates.
According to the lawsuit, McElroy was thirty four weeks pregnant
when she was arrested, and she says that staff failed
to provide proper prenatal care or accommodations. She alleges other

in the nico. An, Oregon tine died of sepsis after
wound was stitched with plant matter still inside. A lawsuit
(06:00):

died after doctor's stitch shut a puncture wound in his
arm with pine needles, moss, and other plant matter still inside.
His family said he was later returned to the emergency

(06:45):
New Jersey officials temporarily suspended the medical license of doctor
Vladimir Sitzmann, saying that he indiscriminately approved medical marijuana for
patients of all ages, including children as young as six
years old. State regulators say he authorized cannabis for about
(07:08):
ninety five percent of his patients, often without proper documentation
or compliance with state law. The state argues the case
is especially serious because some of the approvals involved minors.
In celebrity and pop culture news, the Michael Jackson movie
is doing really well in the movie theater right now.
(07:30):
So we have a couple stories involving the Jacksons. First
is Michael Jackson accuser describes extreme alleged grooming virtual In
a new interview, Dominic Cassio says that Michael Jackson used
bizarre and degrading acts as part of what he described
as a long pattern of grooming and abuse. One of
the claims. Drawing the most attention is at Cassio's allegations
(07:54):
that Michael Jackson drank his urine as part of a
twisted love riche. Jackson's estate has denied the new allegations
and dismissed them as financially motivated. Paris Jackson got a
neck ultrasound after fans pointed out a quote weird throat shape.
(08:16):
Paris Jackson, who is Michael Jackson's only daughter, says that
she had someone come to her rehearsal studio to do
an ultrasound on her neck after fans told her her

on her vocal cords, and that the unusual appearance is
(08:36):
probably just from years of singing and how thin she is.
Britney Spears restaurant seen Spark's fresh concern. Britney Spears reportedly
caused alarm at a Los Angeles restaurant after witnesses says
she was barking, yelling, and waving a knife. Her representative pushedback,
saying the story was exaggerated and that she was simply
(08:58):
cutting food. The report the work came not long after
a rehab stay in recent DUI related legal trouble, which
is why it drew such intense reaction. Brianna Chicken Fry
LaPaglia had emergency surgery for ovarian torsion. Internet personality and
(09:20):
popular podcast are best known for her work with Barstool Sports.

but admitted that the injury left him disoriented. Carl Pavano's
ex wife granted a restraining order. A Connecticut judge granted
a restraining order to Alisa Pavano, the ex wife of
(11:16):
former Yankees pitcher Carl Pavano, after she described escalating intimidation
inside the home that they share while co parenting. Alisa
testified for hours, saying that Karl's behavior, which allegedly includes
urinating in her shampoo bottles and soiling her bed sheets,

former death row inmate Richard gloss Kim Kardashian helped post
(12:02):

knew was false testimony. Gossop was sitting on death row
because he was convicted for his role in the nineteen
ninety seven Oklahoma City killing of his former boss, motel
(12:26):
owner Barry Van Trees. Prosecutor say Van Trees was beaten
to death with a baseball bat and accused Gossip of

sex drive. Amy Schumer says she recently had what she
called a botched kolonoscopy and joked that the experience has
(13:11):
left her not feeling very sexual. She did not provide
many medical details, but framed it as the latest in
a long string of very public health issues she has
talked about openly in medicine and health news. Let's talk
about the new outbreak, the Ebola outbreak. The WHO declared
(13:33):
ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda
a Public Health Emergency of International Concern if their cases
were reported in the DRC and Uganda, including confirmed and
suspected cases and multiple suspected deaths. Us reports also say
(13:54):
that several Americans in Congo may have been exposed, with
at least one possibly developing symptoms. The CDC notes this
outbreak involves the Bundi Bojou virus, a type of a
bullet virus which there is no approved vaccine, meaning treatment
is mainly supportive care. PCOS now has a new name,
(14:18):
which is PMOS. Doctors and patient groups have officially renamed
polycystic ovary syndrome or PCOS to polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome
or PMOS. Experts say the old name focused too narrowly
on ovarian cysts, which are not required for diagnosis, and
(14:38):
failed to reflect the condition's broader hormonal, endocrine, metabolic, and
reproductive effects. The change follows years of global consultation and
is meant to improve diagnostic and public understanding. Study links
certain maternal jobs to hire autism odds in children. A
new observational study suggested a mo others occupation before enduring
(15:01):
pregnancy may be associated with a child's chance of later
being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The highest increases were
reported in jobs involving possible chemical exposures or high stress,
such as defense or judicial work, though researchers stress that
the findings do not prove causation. A bigger looking butt
(15:25):
story is really about posture and not diagnosis. The viral
claim that a bigger looking butt could be a sign
of autism or ADHD is really about anterior pelvic tilt,
a posture pattern that could make the lower back curve
inward and the buttock appear more prominent. Some small studies
(15:46):
suggest that children with autism or boys with ADHD may
show different pelvic angles more often than peers, but experts
say this is not a diagnostic sign and certainly not
a body shaped test for neurodevelopmental Disas more patients say,
stopping SSRIs can be harder than expected. A growing debate
(16:08):
is unfolding over how difficult it could be to stop
SSRI antidepressants. Doctors and patients say that some people experience
significant withdrawal symptoms, including dizziness, insomnia, anxiety, nausea, and brains apps,
especially if they taper too quickly. Experts emphasize that SSRIs
(16:30):
still may help people, but they also may be more
individualized tapering guidelines as needed. Stopping these medications is often
more complicated than many patients were originally told. New mom's
postpartum migraines were actually a brain tumor. A new mom,
(16:54):
Danielle Vincetti, thirty four years old, thought her migraines, light sensitivity,
emotional numbers, and loss of interest in breastfeeding were postpartum symptoms,
but doctors later discovered that she had a Grade four astrocytoma,
an aggressive brain tumor. She underwent emergency surgery followed by
chemotherapy and radiation, and says she immediately felt more emotionally
(17:16):
present afterwards. Her case is now being shared as a
warning not to dismiss every neurological change after childbirth as
hormones or baby blues. In freak accidents and unexpected deaths,
cruise passenger died after mobility scooter went off the pier.
An eighty eight year old American woman died in the
(17:38):
Bahamas after her mobility scooter went off a peer at

against the ship's hull and fell into the water. Carnival's
staff pulled her out and tried to resuscitate her, but
she was pronounced dead. Five divers died exploring a deep
(18:02):
cave in the Maldives. Five Italian divers died during a
deep cave dive in the Maldives after descending to around
fifty meters or about one hundred and sixty to one
hundred and sixty five feet. One diver's body was recovered first,
and the other four were later found inside the cave
by a finish led to recovery team. The disaster grew
(18:25):
even worse when Maldavian military rescue diver died from decompression
illness during the search. Authorities are now investigating the dive
planning equipment and whether the group exceeded safe recreational limits.
Tennessee investigates death after MRI at Brentwood Radiology clinic. Tennessee
(18:49):
health officials are investigating the death of a man who
underwent an MRI at a premier radiology outpatient clinic in
Bretwood despite having both a pacemaker and an implan of
cardiac defibrillator. The state is investigating whether the devices were
properly put into an MRI safe mode and that weather
(19:09):
training of the staff to use emergency equipment was adequate
after he went into distress. A nine to one one
call reportedly suggested workers struggled to operate an AED. A
man died after getting trapped in an escalator while others
walked by. A forty year old man named Stephen McCluskey
(19:33):
died after his clothing became trapped in an escalator at
Davis Station in Somerville, Massachusetts, which restricted his airway. Surveillance
video reportedly showed that several people passing by before anyone
hit the emergency stop button. An official say about twenty
two minutes passed before the escalator was stopped. McClusky was
(19:55):
freed by responders, but died at the hospital ten days later.
And in other death news, Ed Kepner narrated audio books
from prison ed Kepner, the convicted serial killer known as
the co Ed Killer, reportedly spent years narrating audio books
(20:15):
while incarcerated in California. Through a prison program called the
Blind Project. Kepner recorded books for blind and visually impaired listeners,
narrating hundreds of books and logging thousands of hours of
recording time. Human hand found in a UPS package in Pennsylvania.
Authorities in Dolphin County, Pennsylvania, are investigating after a human
(20:39):
hand was discovered inside a UPS package at a facility
in Middletown. The hand was found in a brown box
with no identifying material or labeling, and the case was
entered into the NamUs or the National Missing and Unidentified
Person System. The Dolphin County Coroner's Office responded, and officials
say there remains appear to be the hand of an
(21:02):
elderly woman. And in our last story, a family says
an Amazon urn arrived with ashes in it already. A
grieving Los Angeles area family says that an urn that
they ordered on Amazon for their grandfather arrived with what
appeared to be someone else's ashes already inside. And that's
