on Knick's Parade day Thursday, whatever months in date is
of June eighteenth, and so I don't know when you're listening,
but we're going live to the parade, the parade that
may have already happened, probably when you listen to this. Hey, Garrett,

I am loving life right now. One of the coolest
assignments I've ever done on this show.

So, you know the interesting thing about listening to this
podcast is we don't even know how the parade ended
or what's going on. There could be all sorts of
stories that are breaking, but.

We're taking you back to a time, a time before
the parade actually began. So what are you seeing for
the ramp up? Things are changing.

It's now eight thirty, an hour and a half away
from kickoff time.
Speaker 6 (01:15):
Yeah, so the crowds are officially in and so if
you're on the parade route, that's it.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
They shut down the parade route.

So everybody trying to get in cannot get in unfortunately,
so they're either just waiting for someone to, you know,
miraculously say hey, come on in, but or just head
to the bar right now, and you know, everybody's lining up,
sanitations ready to go. Everybody's getting cheers there are we
want donut cheers, we want pizza cheers.

A lot of hungry people here.

But yeah, there's a lot of excitement to the grand
stand and bleachers are being filled up right now.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
It is. It is becoming a very very cool thing
to be a part of.

So you said, the grand stands all filling up. Are
you at City Hall? Are you close?

I'm about a block and a half away from City Hall,
though I am. That's still closed off now and people
are going to come in closer to about ten o'clock
when the parade gets started. And I think they gave
away like six hundred tickets yesterday to random people who
registered on a New York City website. And then of
course friends and family and people that work at Madison

Square Garden will be at City Hall and everybody else
will just be cheering from the sidelines like me.

All right, I hear sirens. That's the mating call in
downtown Manhattan. Yeah, yes, Nate.

I have a question for you, Garrett. At what time
this morning do you think it was packed? Like you've
been there since five am?

Basically?

At what point do you think you had no chance
to even get near the parade?

About about four thirty five o'clock.

Oh no, wow, Wow, that's when we were driving in
this morning.

I worked for the NYPD.

We're sending texts to family and friends, going, please do
not come.

It's not worth it.

It's it's just there's too many people, probably more than
they expected.

When we were driving in this morning, the Hall in
Tunnel was incredibly backed up. It was super slow, and
then once we actually hit the city, it was just
stop traffic. At four point fifty in the morning.

It was crazy.

These people now know what our day is like and
what time we get up the morning.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
We're not drinking like that is true.

Sometimes Yeah, Andrew just gave me a mimosa, so I'm
drinking a little live.

I love how we can't be in the parade but
we can have cocktails. That's right. This is as closes
as we're gonna get. All right, So what kind of
people are you seeing? Are you seeing any like odd
quirks of nature slithering around or is it all just
people on the up and up? Or is it like
a nice mix.

Definitely a nice mix to you know.

I love the people that are actually trying to go
to work and you know, they're in their suits and like,
excuse me, I'm.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Some of us have to go to work today.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
You know. I got yelled out a few times and
they were trying to go the opposite way.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
They were trying to swim upstream as we're all going
the opposite way. And some guys just go call out
from work. What are you even going for?
Speaker 6 (04:22):
Yeah, I mean there's people here that were around for
the championship fifty three years ago and they're very excited.
I mean there's people that are just hugging and high fiving.
It is very reminiscent of just, you know, this positive
vibe of when you know, the country came together and
New York came together, you know, post nine to eleven

and work together as one. It's an awesome vibe to
be a part of.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Right now.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Yeah, you're gonna have everyone from every every every sector
of life walking around there. Look at the hands of
the guys walking by. Do any of those hands look
like they've murdered someone?

Oh god, somewhere, or.

They've murdered Is there anybody out there that had the
balls to wear.

A spurs jersey?

No, I'm sure we'd welcome them with open We've done
enough to them. People were flying in from around the world.
There were people who are in the country for the
World Cup who actually appeared downtown. We heard some reports
about them, and New York Post is reporting about people
flying in from California, people driving in from Albany.

I mean, everyone's coming in.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
The city is going to have more higher population today
than probably any other day this year.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
If you think about it.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Not only are people here for the next game, which
are in the millions. But people were already here for
World Cup from other countries.

So the amount of people in the city, the mix.

Of people, that's all. The mix of people is the coolest.

And Danielle was talking about the fact that tomorrow's junteenth.
A lot of people have Tomorrow off.

So what this means from the city is pretty amazing.

Yes, what this means for New York City is is
really beyond comprehension. You know, a lot of us have
lived in this city. Well I've lived here for forty years.
It's scary you've lived here for however older you are
sent seventy five years old. Anyway, We've seen this city
go through all sorts of celebrations and the ups and
a lot of downs, challenging times, but the times of

celebration like this, It really feels good to be a
New Yorker today, even if you aren't in the thick
of it downtown.

Now you're standing in the middle of a crowd celebrating
the Knicks for this big, huge, huge, monumental event.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
How are you feeling?

Oh, I mean I was a Madison Square Garden back
in nineteen ninety nine with my dad when the Spurs
played the Knicks in the championship and they won. The
Spurs one at Madison Square Garden. I remember walking out
of Madison Square Garden crying, just not under really understanding sports,
just knowing that my team lost the championship. And now
to be here almost thirty plus years later, it's I

feel like that little.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Kid all over again, but with a with a championship.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Oh, congract, that's exciting.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Well, congratulations on being a part of it. You're new,
