Speaker 1 (00:00):
W DV E Pittsburgh and iHeartRadio station.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Guaranteed human Rogers gets a snap four man rush coming
Rodgers back lofting love hasn't.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Been wide open touchdown Pittsburgh Steelers. What fifty five second dramatic.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
God? Yeah, here we go.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
You better believe it?

Speaker 4 (00:26):
Did you hear me?

Speaker 5 (00:27):
Where we go?

Speaker 4 (00:28):
We first thing in the morning.

Speaker 6 (00:31):
Here we go, Steevens, here we go, Facebury, stuck Burball,
Here we go. You know tonight the Steelers hosting the
Texans wild card weekend culminates in the eight to fifteen
kickoff Monday night football here in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Comedian Raised watting with us this morning.

Speaker 6 (00:51):
Uh getting set for Aaron Rodgers to lead the Pittsburgh
Steelers onto the field tonight. And can they get past
that vaunted Houston Texans defense?

Speaker 1 (01:01):
We shall see. I'm not scared of their offense.

Speaker 6 (01:03):
I think that the way this plays out in the
reason I feel good about the Steelers chances tonight is
not that I think we're gonna put up a ton
of points on that defense. I think our defense can
do some stuff against their kind of mediocre offense. I
think we can get the ball in some really good
field position because of some big defensive plays that can

(01:25):
turn the tide of the game. Boswell's gonna have to
be sharp. He's already said like, hey man, I'm fine,
which is good because Ben was like, I know you're
all messed up between the years, but don't worry about it.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Stop trying to help.

Speaker 6 (01:38):
I believe Boswell will be fine tonight, and I think
he's gonna be a big reason why the Steelers end
up winning sixteen to ten.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Ooh six. I got a twenty to fourteen okay, so
we're not far away from each other there.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
Yeah, it's it doesn't seem like it's gonna be a
high scoring game, which probably means the script writers will
make sure that it's a forty seven to forty five
juggernaut of a offensive explosion.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Hey man, as long as it's on the right side.
I'm with you.

Speaker 7 (02:05):
I we need a win, dude. It's been too long.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
I know, I know.

Speaker 7 (02:09):
I know we're spoiled brats in the grand scheme of
it all. We are, but we we deserve it, you know.
And I've been working so hard as a fan I have. Yeah,
I did you did you if you saw the beginning
of the Bears game. One of the things that was
bothering me is the uh they they do the towels.
I hate everybody's Jacksonville Adam too, but like they our

(02:33):
towels are like my terrible towel I've had for twenty years.
It's signed by Ricardo Cokeley. There's blood on it, there's
you know, it's like should be an evidence locker, right,
like like these like they're passing.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Like that's our thing. Yeah, they're passing them out for free. Yeah,
total bs.

Speaker 6 (02:53):
I was trying to explain that to somebody who was
new to the Terrible Terrible towel culture, that it's not
just a yellow towel.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
These are like family heirlooms at this point.

Speaker 7 (03:04):
Did you see Bradley Cooper on that commercial He calls
it the Steelers wave in their yellow napkins.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, and I know what the bit is.

Speaker 7 (03:10):
I know it's a food thing, but it still irritates
me every time I hear it.

Speaker 6 (03:13):
Yeah, I refuse to support any of his movies going forward.
You know, I'm going to spread every rumor about him,
I'm substantiated or not.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
It's going on our air waves. Anytime someone brings him up.

Speaker 7 (03:24):
You're like, what did you hear what Bradley Cooper did?

Speaker 6 (03:28):
Hey, whatever, go have another eye surgery, Bradley Cooper, come
go get your go.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Try to make yourself look like Leonard Cohen.

Speaker 6 (03:37):
You leave the towels to us, buddy, Oh a napkin man,
and like every.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Like Terrible Towels have a store. And by the way,
who does Bradley Cooper root for?

Speaker 6 (03:48):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Nobody? Now Eagles?

Speaker 6 (03:52):
And what happened to the Eagles after Bradley Cooper called
the terrible towel a napkin?

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Oh knocked out? It's a real curse. They don't tell me.
It's the curse of coat. You can't tell me. I
would love to bait a prominent member of.

Speaker 6 (04:07):
The Houston Texans into I shouldn't say bait member of
the Houston Texans. That's that's got some bad history. But
I mean b a I t h into doing something
bad to the towel boy.

Speaker 7 (04:21):
I shouldn't say that of a Patriots thing too as well,
you need a towel.

Speaker 6 (04:28):
But you know what I'm saying this, they're too squeaky
clean of.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
A team right now.

Speaker 6 (04:33):
DeMarco Ryan has this team playing Dimico Ryan has this
team playing soundly on defense offense.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
They don't have a whole lot. They don't have a
whole lot.

Speaker 6 (04:41):
I think t J. Watt can have a game tonight.
I think Cam Hayward has been a monster on the
defensive line. Ke Benton and uh also Harmon coming up big.
They're not make CJ.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Now. CJ.

Speaker 6 (04:55):
Stroud can throw the ball. But you know when you
have t J. Watt and Alex Highsmith and her big
closing down on you, maybe that's just enough for the
Steelers to create problems that he's got to get rid
of the ball quickly.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
It's secondary can capitalize.

Speaker 7 (05:13):
If I was a betting man, which you are, Yeah, Steelers,
I'm taking a Steelers touchdown defense defense, defensive touchdown like
that usually in that like plus seven hundred range, and
it's always a fun one. Always a fun fun one
is when it hits really well.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
You know.

Speaker 6 (05:30):
It's like it was like my Derek Watt touchdown that
I played every single week until the week he scored.
I did not play at the week he scored, it
was like plus twenty three hundred. Every time, I'm like,
they're gonna give it to him one of these days.
When he was full back for us and they did
one time. Writers, Steelers and Detections Tonight on dB eight

(05:52):

and Matt Williams and pursued a Labrielle and du Lac

it's Rob King, Max Starks and Missy Matthews with all
of the actions Steelers Texans Tonight on DVE raised Wadney's
hanging out in studio with us tonight or today getting
ready for tonight's game.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Abby's got a news update for you.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
Now.

Speaker 8 (06:13):
New is this hour brought to you by Keystone Basement Systems,
Web Basement, Keystone Basementsystems, dot Com, Times of Clouds and
Sun Today it is the high.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Of thirty eight.

Speaker 8 (06:22):
The Golden Globes were last night. The show was packed
full of celebs from TV and film. It was also
filled with some big wins and some big moments, and
we're going to cover it here. So Nikki Glazer kicked
off her second straight Golden Globes hosting gig by calling
it mockingly, without a doubt, the most important thing that
is happening in the world. Right now, which was a

(06:45):
good self awareness there, but before launching into jabs at
Warner Brothers, the Justice Department. And I give her credit
because the show was airing on CBS.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
But she went after CBS News.

Speaker 9 (06:57):
And the award for most editing goes two.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
CBS News.

Speaker 9 (07:02):
Yes, CBS News America's newest place to see BS News.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
I mean, great joke.

Speaker 6 (07:12):
They flashed Martin Short and Steve Martin when she made that,
and they loved it.

Speaker 8 (07:16):
Oh yeah, Generally it was a pretty tame show.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
I want to say.

Speaker 8 (07:22):
I got to like the first hour and a half
of it. She's a great host because she's such a
huge entertainment fan, so she genuinely loves the shows and
the movies and the celebrities that she's joking about, and
that radiates for sure. So she's qualified for the gig

(07:43):
and she.

Speaker 6 (07:43):
Well, she's such a season stand up too. Like even
the stuff that I saw her doing interstitial stuff where
she was like standing out in the crowd and just
doing quick like segments and she's doing self depreciating humor
and funny stuff like just zooming through. So she wasn't
above it all. She's like, no, I'm scumbag, you guys
are royalty. Yes, you know it's a pro Yes, And
she's just so damn funny.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
I didn't think she had to qualify.

Speaker 8 (08:09):
Any of her jokes, and she did do that a
few times, like where I think a lot of people
would have said this year, she stayed away from any meanness.
So anytime she was doing anything that even walked that
line of maybe being mean, she'd be like, I love you,
I love you, I love you, And she felt like.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
She kind of needed to apologize a little too much.

Speaker 8 (08:27):
I kind of wish she hadn't done that, because I
don't think she needed to, but I understood it just
because of again the maybe the culture of the show
or the moment right now.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
She did that with a good Leo joke.

Speaker 7 (08:39):
She said something like brought up some of his accomplishments
and she was like, he did all this before his
girlfriend turned thirty.

Speaker 8 (08:49):
As for other celebrities in the crowd, she did hit
the Rock and Kevin Hart with a good one.

Speaker 9 (08:56):
And Kevin Hart is here, Yes the Rocks plus one
half love you, Kevin, Kevin, I Love You. Kevin is
obviously nominated for his hilarious stand up special Tonight, I
Love you so much, Kevin. You're so funny, and you
and the Rock together are like my favorite comedy duo.
I just such a classic comedy duo. You're like a

(09:17):
Steve Martin and Martin Schork. But for like people under
fifty IQ, you know what I.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Mean, like too people under fifty IQ hilarious with.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
Steve Martin Martin short.

Speaker 8 (09:31):
She also joked that they keep proving to us that
in this industry, you're never too old to still need money.
She also went after Sean Penn. She went bold on
this one.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Sean, I love you.

Speaker 9 (09:50):
Not only such an amazing actor, but you're such a
devoted humanitarian. I mean, I feel like a lot of
actors talk to the talk, but Sean Penn will actually
go to the places in the world that need helped
the most, and he will do cocaine there, And I
feel like we don't celebrate that.

Speaker 6 (10:06):
He gets pissed when people joke about him doing that stuff.
Remember he sent that letter to the South Park guys.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
He was serious.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Yeah, he was furious about Team America. Oh, Team America.
They went after everybody, anyways, did she She went after
shallow may right, She.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
Went after shallow may as well with him.

Speaker 8 (10:29):
She said he was the first actor in history to
have to put on muscle for a movie about ping palm.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
He gave, he gained over sixty ounces.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
That's hilarious. Did he win last night?

Speaker 4 (10:42):
He did win, She I'm sorry.

Speaker 8 (10:46):
He won for Best Performance by a Male Actor in
Emotion Picture Comedy, and he thanked his co stars, his parents,
and his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, which there was like a
little bit of talk whether like because he didn't refer
to her as his girlfriend and he referred to her
as his partner, and people were like making a big
fuss over like the it's.

Speaker 6 (11:06):
A pr relationship and I don't know you think so No,
that's look, I'm in the rabbit hole that everything's faked
right now on the internet.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
I can't get out of it.

Speaker 6 (11:14):
So don't pay any attention to me for about seventy
two hours until I can cleanse my algorithm. Well, Timothy,
by the way, you should, if you're over forty, cleanse
your algorithm at least once a year.

Speaker 8 (11:23):
Everybody says that he did mention one of his co
stars in Marty Supreme Shark, Kevin O'Leary.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
The amazing cast of this film Odessa Zion, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler,
the creator of Fran Dresher, Kevin O'Leary. If you would
have told me when I was nineteen years old, I'd
be thinking, mister Wonderful from Shark Tank. All right, you're laughing.
So I got away with that. Thank you, Kevin. I
would have been stunned. But I've been very.

Speaker 8 (11:53):
Grateful, more of a human moment maybe for Timothy Challowy,
which we've kind of been talking about. He's been a
little high on his own supply recently, so it was
kind of nice to have him come down to earth
for a little bit with the rest of us. As
for winners, Hamnet one for Best Drama.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
That name will never not make me.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
It just sounds like it's a joke. It reminds me
of Hamlet two.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Someone like a hairlip.

Speaker 7 (12:22):
It sounds like the dumb kid in Clad when he's
when he's like, do we.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Really got to read Hamnit again? And they're like, it's
Hamlet go to the office ring.

Speaker 8 (12:36):
One battle after another one Best Musical or Comedy.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
My mom used to cook with a hamnut and she'd
always been like, don't eat the net.

Speaker 8 (12:46):
One Battle had a really good night overall. By the way,
it also took uh Supporting Actress te Taylor and Best
Director and Screenplay for Thomas Paul Thomas Anderson. Rather Sinner's
one Cinema and box office achievement, which is also known
as the best movie people actually saw. K Pop Demon

(13:07):
Hunters was named Best Animated Flick and Golden one Best
Original Song. My child was up for that and was
pumped and that was the only thing she took out
her earbuds for and looked up from the iPad and
was like actually engaged. In the TV category, The Pits
one Best Drama, The Studio one.

Speaker 6 (13:28):
By the way, is anybody watched the first episode of
The Pit season two?

Speaker 4 (13:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (13:31):
I was gonna watch it, and I didn't rush to
it because you kind of seemed a.

Speaker 6 (13:34):
Little It's it's just an exposition episode, you know, There's
not a lot going on.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
It's just like real established playing out the news story.
Of course.

Speaker 6 (13:45):
I love the opening with the Better Off Without You
Clark song playing as the er doctor rides helmetless over
the Indie war al Bridge and then zooms up cedar
onto North Avenue. There wearing his Hemingway's shirt. I mean,
all really well done Pittsburgh porn there.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
That's fantassining.

Speaker 6 (14:05):
But the lead nurse, who I think won an award
for her performance last year and I can't remember her name.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
She's a really good actress, the blonde Blonde.

Speaker 6 (14:13):
But for some reason, her tone has changed and it
seems like she's trying to do like a like a
sassy Pittsburgh lady, but it sounds more like a sassy like.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Brooklyn lady from a nineteen fifties movie, you.

Speaker 10 (14:35):
Know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
She's like, hey, Pall, what your beck of it? You
know what I mean? You see, Yeah, that's that's what's happening. Now,
I'm like, that's not it. Okay.

Speaker 6 (14:45):
Are there any other Pittsburgh inaccuracies? You've noticed so many?
I mean yeah, yeah, there's so many.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Look.

Speaker 6 (14:51):
I know you've been up there in New York doing
comedy Ray, but look us Pleeb's down here in the
regular world of Pittsburgh. We have been watching this show
and criticizing it NonStop for their lack of ability to.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Get some small things right, like Holies.

Speaker 6 (15:09):
Yeah I got fish sandwich from Holies.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
No, no, no, that's woolies.

Speaker 7 (15:14):
I'm surprised. Everyone didn't delete their HBO mass subscription.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
It made the news.

Speaker 7 (15:20):
Really it was like I remember, like I couldn't watch
any Pittsburgh movie with my dad ever because like striking distance,
all we did was complain about like the driving.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Oh yes, he was like that.

Speaker 7 (15:31):
You know that streak doesn't connect it.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
It's a movie man, Bruce Willis on a boat.

Speaker 6 (15:39):
Oh he can just turn right out of Armstrong Tunnel
and magically be on Grandview Avenue.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
I don't take so yes.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
Stuff like I heard a suspension of disbelieve.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Yeah, but I can't suspend this. Look, the four Bridge
can't suspend that much. Believe. Tonight. It's the beginning, it's
the biginning.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
It's Steelers to it's playoff football back in the Burg.
And Aaron Rodgers is a big part of why that
is happening. And Aaron Rodgers has said all along this
was about one person, him coming to Pittsburgh. And it's
not Aaron Rodgers, who's always about Mike Tomlin, who's always
about him working with Mike t And he is all a.

Speaker 11 (16:22):
Lot of you probably in this group, either publicly or privately,
we're talking about Mike t get next. So it feels
good to shut all those comments down. We love Mike T,
and Mike T is an incredible career as a head coach.
To go that long and never have a losing season,
it's unbelievable. There's always going to be something, you know.

(16:44):
When I was a young player, they said, you know,
couldn't be considered the lead to I won a playoff game,
and then after that it was till you win a
super Bowl and oh you haven't won MVP yet, and
whatever they might be. For Mike T, he said, what
nineteen straight non losing seasons, So they got to find
something to try and get after him. Mike T's probably
like me though, didn't give a whole any of those comments.

(17:04):
But it is nice because we all love him and
want to play for him, and they want to win
for him.

Speaker 6 (17:11):

postseason run. It all starts tonight eight point fifteen is

Weir and his passing for Rolling Stone Magazine. He will
join us at eight o'clock to talk about the legacy
of Bob Weir. One of the most important and unheralded
in many regards rock and rollers of all time passed
away this weekend, but mostly today, it's all Steelers as

(17:53):
we get set for playoff football tonight on DVE.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Sports is have brought to you by Bridgeville Appliance.

Speaker 13 (18:43):
One more game to play in the NFL's wild Card weekend.
That'll be the Steelers hosting the Houston Texans tonight at
Akroshire Stadium. The winner moves on to take on the
New England Patriots on Sunday this coming Sunday, January the eighteenth.
That'll be the second game on Sunday, fall by Rams Bears.
In the first game on Saturday, it'll be the Bills

(19:04):
at the Broncos and then the forty nine Ers at
the Seahawks. That's how wild Card Weekend has shaken out
to this point. And of course, the headlining component of
this Houston Texans team that will invade Acroscher tonight is
its ability to unleash hell off the edge. Will Anderson
Junior and Danil Hunter are absolute twin tears in terms

(19:27):
of edge rush pressure, but Steelers defense coordinator Tarrel Austin
thinks his guys can generate some too.

Speaker 10 (19:35):
They are those guys are really good, and we think
our guys are really good. So you know, we're just
hoping our guys show up and give us their best
effort and best their best selves this this weekend and
it helps us win, because that's really all I care about.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Actually.

Speaker 13 (19:50):
As Alex Heismith revealed a couple of days ago, Austin
cares about a little bit more than that. No, it's
just emphasizing that we got to be the best group
in the stadium this weekend. It's been emphasized, we got
to be the best edge group. See I wonder who
emphasized that. Yeah, and it's interesting, he says group, because
you gotta include Nick Herbig in that.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Well, let's see him a little more often.

Speaker 13 (20:15):
Tonight, Hunter and Anderson combined for twenty seven sacks between them,
and if you throw in their two backups who are
not slappy players, Derek Barnett and Denico Autrey, Houston's four
edge guys produced thirty.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
Five and a half sacks this season.

Speaker 13 (20:35):
Pittsburgh, if you combine high Smith, Watt Herbig, and Sawyer
twenty five. But the Steelers are playing at home, which
means the Texans are the team on the silent count,
which means the edge goes to the Pittsburgh rush. That's
a big deal. Can the Steelers ruin CJ. Strouds night
more than the Texans are going to try to ruin

(20:57):
Aaron Rodgers night? Who can protect our quarterback?

Speaker 1 (21:01):
This has been my key to victory.

Speaker 6 (21:03):
You heard me saying this the whole time, is that
I think the Steelers can disrupt the Texans offense more
than Houston will disrupt ours. Now, you pointed out something
as we were going into the commercial break there about
the simplicity of Houston's defense. You know, there was a
metric that rated defenses across the league in terms of

(21:27):
different looks you'll see, and it used three factors, which
was like personnel, you know, different formations use and I
can't remember what the third one was, but the point being,
Houston was last in the league in changing things up.

Speaker 13 (21:46):
It's the most obvious simple here we are, you know
where we're gonna be, and you know what we're gonna
do defense in the league.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Right.

Speaker 13 (21:53):
It's also number one yards against and it would have
been number one points against if they would have gave
a crap about the regular season and finale against the Colts,
which they did not.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
They gave up a bunch better. So that takes away
one of Aaron Rodgers superpowers.

Speaker 13 (22:06):
His ability to diagnose and figure it out and dissect
and not be fool because they're not trying to fool you.
They're trying to kick your ass, right, They just they
would just rather do that, and I'm very good at it. Yeah,
the other thing about the protection. Houston is going to
play a ton of single high, which is going to
invite the deep sideline ball. Now, you can't throw those

(22:27):
all night, but can they keep Rogers upright enough to
hit two or three of those.

Speaker 6 (22:33):
It's huge having DK back for that, no question, no question.
I mean, Adam Feeling, I think can be a nice
slot guy. But if you have DK, all of a sudden,
Calvin Austin becomes a little more of a weapon because
if you're gonna leave him alone, it's not so much
that he's gonna battle catch, although.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
He has from time to time. He can get past guys. Yes,
he can get behind you.

Speaker 13 (22:57):
And the other critical component of the matchup for the
Steelers on offenses the flats because uh, just as Tuesday,
Mike Tomlin was talking about how they've relied all year
on the checkdowns to gain Well and Warren and they
turn little plays into big place.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
Well, I don't know.

Speaker 13 (23:12):
If you do that against these guys because Houston. One
another component in addition to pressure is team speed. They're
incredibly fast, and Hunter and Anderson they're not just I'm
going to rush the quarterback and everybody else do everything else.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
They tackle. Uh.

Speaker 13 (23:27):
If Rogers tries those little checkdowns, they're going to turn
and chase from behind. And they got two inside linebackers,
Henry to Oh number thirty nine and Asis al Shair,
number zero.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
These guys are lightning.

Speaker 6 (23:40):
There's some names right there. They get us a couple
of names. They get to the flat, pay extra to
get those jerseys and.

Speaker 13 (23:46):
They yeah to to Oh it's to o pastrophe O
capital to o pastrophe O. He's out Alabama. He was
considered a very middling guy coming.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
Out of Alabama.

Speaker 13 (23:56):
Or oh yeah, But I mean, can the Steel make
these guys miss in the flat? I don't know if
they can. I don't know if they can't. I mean,
game one, warn are pretty good. These guys are pretty good.
It's like strength on strength a lot of a lot
of places when you're trying to try to move the
ball against these guys.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
And then the other thing, you know, turnovers.

Speaker 13 (24:15):
Steels are really good at turnovers and really good at
protecting the ball. Houston's even better, just by a little bit.
So if they're counting on, yeah, we'll turn them over
and get a short field and get some cheap points.
I don't know if they should be counting on that.
And Stroud is not going to throw it deep a ton,
but when he does, he throws a spectacular deep ball.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (24:35):
So they got to be able to stop the run
in kind of a regular deployment, not have to load
up against it like they did against Baltimore. And if
they if they can handle the run with a light box,
which they should be able to do, because these guys
don't run the ball. Well, They're gonna run at a
bunch Houston because they don't think you can score on them.
They'll be happy running and punting all night and then
you know, take their periodic shots. But if the Steelers

(24:57):
can play light box, stop the run and then keep
the back end secure, which they did not do against
the Ravens, calculated risk.

Speaker 6 (25:04):
Yeah, I burned him a couple of times, but not
not so much that they lost.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Like I've heard someone now there, you know, all people.

Speaker 13 (25:11):
Are gonna Houston should look at that Steelers Ravens tape
and realize how vulnerable they are in the secondary.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Yeah, that's Houston's not getting that look tonight. Right. The
Steelers aren't Houston.

Speaker 13 (25:20):
They're not going to roll out the same d unless
Houston can run, then then the Steelers.

Speaker 7 (25:24):
Have a real problem and we're not prepping for Derrick
Henry this time around. No, what is it Woody Marx
and guy out of USC just a guy?

Speaker 13 (25:32):
Yeah, just I mean he plays hard, he's physical, you know,
one cut and go, he puts his shoulder down. But
he's he's a fourth throned guy out of USC.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
I don't like just minimizing people in the postseason with
just a guy label, because those just the guys roll
off one hundred and thirty yards.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
I guess sometimes, you know.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
I mean the guy who's coming out party, the guy they.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Wanted to be. The guy was Joe Mixon. We all
know what kind of back he is.

Speaker 13 (25:57):
Imagine this team, if it could run, would be the
favorite because it's got the best defense.

Speaker 6 (26:03):
Abby's got your new Well, actually, Abby, we're gonna have
a little delayed news, but we'll probably get through a
couple of stories at the.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Top of the hour.

Speaker 8 (26:09):
Yeah, I was gonna say we would remember the legacy
of Bob Weir.

Speaker 6 (26:13):
Alan Paul Rock, writer for Rolling Stone and Guitar Magazine,
celebrated author of course and Pittsburgh native, will join us
to talk about Bob Weir and also he was at
the Detroit game and he has a funny story he
wrote about being at the Detroit game and how his
health became in peril because of the stress of the

(26:36):
end of that Lions Steelers game.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
You think about it from the Lions.

Speaker 6 (26:40):
Game on, it has just been for anybody with a
heart condition, I mean, really dangerous treading for Steelers fans,
the Lions game, the Browns game, all the way until
the missed fourth down in the end zone there that
would have tied the game. We ended up losing to
the Browns and then the missed loop field goal. There
hasn't been a role laxing moment in a month for

(27:02):
Steelers fans.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
It's not fun.

Speaker 13 (27:05):
Is the guy that hit the deck after the bettest
fumble in Indies he still with us.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
I'm not sure that was one of the all time
great ones.

Speaker 6 (27:10):
He was at Chupkas on the South Side and thankfully
on the on the megatouch machine, they have a defibrillator.
You just have to put the fifty save that guy's life.
Charlie Batch talks Steelers next, and you play.

Speaker 11 (27:25):
The greatest song in the world for.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Me, only if you can. Dick it.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Let us know your lunch requests on our Socials phone
or the talkback button on the iHeart radio app. You
picked this songs on the Electric Lunch at noon on DV.

Speaker 8 (27:40):
The NFL playoffs are here in this year Draft Kings
Sports Book, the number one sports book for live betting,
is turning up the sticks for.

Speaker 6 (27:47):
Every Jackson back to pass. Bro It's cut it down,
it picked off.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
Picked off my TJ want got it down by high spin.
Some help, a little puts at this place. It's going bucks.
That's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 6 (28:07):
From the Steelers defense tonight, Cam Hayward with those big
paws in the air, CJ. Strad He's a tall guy,
he's a tough guy to bat down. But still the
defense can get some pressure on him. And we're gonna
talk to Charlie Batch about what they they may or
may not be able to do. Here brought to you
by Edgars Snyder and Associates, local lawyers helping people from
these Steelers Audio Network post game show. Charlie Batch is

(28:29):
joining us right now. What's up, Chuck? How are you, buddy?

Speaker 1 (28:32):
I'm doing well. Good morning.

Speaker 11 (28:33):
Every One.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Tell me about CJ.

Speaker 6 (28:34):
Stroud, What does he do well or what does he
do that makes him vulnerable that we might be able
to capitalize on.

Speaker 5 (28:41):
Yeah, I mean he had a strong arm, but he's
also able to kind of maneuver around that pocket and
bay some time. But the one thing that he does
do if he does have pressure, you know, he's up
to make that error air and throw that. You get
to that point you're just like, okay, what is he doing?
There's always that hair scratcher, So you just have to
make her You have to make him a very uncomfortable
in the pocket here today.

Speaker 13 (29:02):
Charlie, this looks like a game that both quarterbacks should
be really uncomfortable in the pocket. If you're playing for
euther one of these teams, at what point do you say,
you know what, we can't we can't block these guys,
so we're gonna have to do this in this instead
of that and that, Like you do you make that
acknowledgement going in or do you try it a couple

(29:22):
of times and.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
See how it goes?

Speaker 13 (29:23):
What's the what's the feeling out process for trying to
keep your quarterback alive tonight?

Speaker 5 (29:28):
Yeah, it's gonna be one of those things where you're
gonna be frustrating because both quarterbacks probably gonna turn around,
hand the ball off to the running back and then
all of a sudden it's no game one yard, so
they're gonna get frustrated.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
But again that that test.

Speaker 5 (29:40):
Your patience at that particular point. And this is where
you lean on the experience of Aaron Rodgers, because he's
gonna take what the defense gives him, and if the
play is not there, he's gonna throw it away. We're
on the flip side, CJ is he'll get frustrated and
then try to make a play down the field, and
that's where you force those Aaron throws and you have
to make them pay for it. It's not a matter
of if it's gonna happen, it's a matter of win,

(30:00):
and when it does, you have to capitalize off of
it with turnover.

Speaker 6 (30:04):
So do you do anything if you're Arthur Smith, to
counteract the fact that you likely have half a second
less for Aaron Rodgers in like pulling some of those
routes in a little bit, or just anything different for
the majority of the game, taking the occasional pop or
is it just business as usual and hope for the best.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Yeah, it's going to be business as usual.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
But this is going to be a game where the
fans are going to have to be patient because we've
seen throughout the course of the year if the offense
is not going those boo bers come out earlier and earlier.
This is going to be a frustrated game because there's
gonna be a lot of punts in this football game,
and this is going to be one probably a low
scoring game, you know thou early on, where people are
gonna get frustrated. They just have to be patient. Still

(30:47):
throw it out encouragement out there to the team because
now this is the best of the best in the
playoff field. There's not gonna be many blowouts in that
particular manner. So they just understand this game right here
with both defenses is the way that they are. This
is going to be a style game and if you
love defense, this is a game of watch.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Feels like it could be a big game for eighty
eight tonight, Charlie. It has to be.

Speaker 5 (31:08):
And you know down the field, yes, we've been talking
about this a lot throughout the course of the season,
evolving in the passing game. But the one thing that
you know, he's going to be challenging, and I'm sure
coach Tomin challenging on this week. When you have a
defense who runs a four to three. The key matchup
in this game is tight end versus defensive end. So
at some point Friar Muth is going to have to

(31:28):
contain that edge and hopefully that spring score a running
game to get going at some point.

Speaker 6 (31:34):
Charlie Batch with US Steelers on your network post game show,
he and Mike another late night Monday Night Football, and
you talked about the effect of that home crowd tonight
and that really helps neutralize a little bit a Houston's
defensive advantage they've had.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
If this game was in Texas, the Steelers might be
in a whole lot more trouble.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
Yeah, I agree with that one there. And this is
a game where, really, and this is why you want
the home field advantage, where Aaron Rodgers is going to
have to use that snap count as a weapon, quick count,
hard count. But it's also important to not getting to
those third and long worth one dimension when they know
you're going to pass the football, So he has to
use his cadiens as a weapon here today.

Speaker 13 (32:13):
Charlie, Texan's coming in having won nine straight They've won
a postseason game in each of the last two seasons,
so they obviously have some belief. But the sense I'm
getting around the Steelers is their belief is off the charts.
A lot of that's got to do with Rogers, A
lot of that's got to do with the way they've
won some dramatic games down the stretch. Can they claim

(32:33):
an intangible advantage here or is that fifty to fifty
like everything else in this game.

Speaker 5 (32:38):
But they can claim the advantage, but also taking that
underdog approach, because yeah, all ody's are on the Texans.
Everybody's like, yeah, they won nine in a row. But quietly,
the Steelers have won four more out of the last five.
And it would have been five obviously if they didn't
have that kickup in Cleveland. So these guys are confident,
they believe in what they're doing, They believe in this
matchup that they favorable to them, and this is one

(32:59):
that they're all timately trying to get over to hump.
It starts here tonight, and what better way to do
it in front of a national audience.

Speaker 6 (33:05):
Charlie, You know, you see offenses being aggressive like never
before in the NFL, going forward on fourth a whole lot.
Do you think, because of the expectation of this game
being a tight one, that we might see more of
Tomlin's conservative approach, which was that was his mo all
the time. He seems to have adjusted a little bit.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
I hope so, but he has.

Speaker 6 (33:27):
He has been a little more aggressive in recent weeks
in particular. Do you think it'll revert back to the
boring and predictable Steelers decision making that we became accustomed to.

Speaker 5 (33:41):
I think this one here will be situational, and I
think ultimately that's going to play series best series because
the one thing you don't want to do, because you
know that this Houston offense is not going to light
you up, you don't want to give him a short field.
Do you go forward on your minus forty five and
now all of a sudden it's fourth to one and
you give them the ball to forty five If you
don't convert, this is now the game to do that.
I can understand maybe on the goal to go situation,

(34:04):
but not out in the middle of the field. Take
the points because the points are going to be a
premium here today.

Speaker 6 (34:09):
Charlie Batch brought to you by Edgars Snyder and associates.
This morning here on DVE. He'll be a part of
the Steelers Audio Network post game show, which we'll start
right after kickoff along with Mike Pursuda and can be
a late one for you guys tonight. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
Sure, no, you know, we'll just join you. Well, we'll
just go, We'll go. Yeah, yeah, we'll just come up.
We'll think this a four person I love that. Mike, Yeah, absolutely,
come on in.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
It's just a matter of whether we're going to be
doing this on Monday night or Tuesday morning. Either way,
me and Mike is going to Tuesday morning, so better
to start time.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
It looks like Charlie, Thanks Chuck, appreciate your time. I
appreciate you. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 6 (34:44):
All right on the way, Jerry do Lack will join
us at eight forty five more Steeler talk getting ready
for tonight's Texans game. But when we come back from
this commercial break, remembering Bob, we are with rock writer

Allan's a Pittsburgher, He's been on the show, longtime friend

roll bios in his TV. Rayvaughon book also another one
that you should probably have in your collection. But we're
going to talk about Bob Weir and h forty nine
Ers fan. I should point out Bob Weir when we
come back. That's why you had to bet on the
forty nine ers yesterday. Mite, You should have gave me
that intel now, Ray, I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
This seems to be in a text before the game nothing.
Alan Paul talks Bob we Are Next on DV.

Speaker 6 (35:36):
You get in a car accident and think, well, the
insurance company's going to take care of me. Yeah, not
so much. It's Randy from the DV Morning Show. The
team at Edgar Snyder and Associates. They know how this
really works.
